Great sushi, ambiance, and service. I would definitely give them a try as the quality is top notch and rivals that of Amura and Fishbones. I've always went to their other locations and this one is just as good! Definitely give them a try and especially try their mikado roll!

Vegetarians beware!!!! My boyfriend and I tried this sushi place twice and both times were disappointing. The first time we went, we specifically asked if the soups or entrees contained any fish. The server told us no, so we ordered them. They were ok, but later that night we both felt sick. We decided to give it one more chance. This time, when the server saw we only ordered vegetables and asked if we were vegetarian, we said yes, and she said that all the soups and entrees had fish and chicken in them!! Thanks a lot! No wonder we were sick last time. That other served must not have even asked what was in anything. So anyway, we ordered everything without the teriyaki sauce (which has chicken) and without fish sauce and bonito, all of which i guess they put on everything cooked. But this time everything tasted the same as last time and we were sick again! So either the kitchen is really dirty, or the chefs just didn't care that the server put a note that we were vegetarian. We will never be back. How hard is it to make a vegetable hobachi or yaki soba without any meat sauce?? And not to mention, we wanted the tempura, but it has eggs (even though that is NOT the traditional style) and their veggie 'garden' roll was far from it. The only difference between that and their aac roll was they added pickled daikon. if you're avoiding meat, DO NOT EAT HERE! Were sticking to shin and garden cafe from now on!

Usually, I swing by this place with my girlfriend. Love their foods and service. Lunch and Happy Hour make you happy. Also, they send a coupon in local areas, so do not miss it! Compared with Samurai Sushi, which is located in Lake Mary/Heathrow, both are so cool, cool, and cool :)

I have to start out by saying I come here about every two weeks, if not more often. I always get the sushi. As a creature of habit, typically pick from the same list of 4 or 5 rolls--but everything i have had has been delicious. They have a sushi happy hour that starts at 4 i believe, where they discount a lot of the what i call "simple rolls", such as California, Spicy Tuna, Philly roll, etc. I like to sit at the bar where they have a TV and the sushi chefs are very nice and talkative. I somehow manage to pick the times when they are less busy, but service still tends to be a little slow. Not slow enough to deter me though, I will continue to come back here.

Atmosphere ideal for a quiet and even classy dinner, alone or in company. The sushi bar is very busy, and it might take longer than usual time to get your order, but it is worth the wait: I had sushi the quality of which I encountered only in Tokyo, Singapore and San Francisco, fresh, dry aged, very well handled and prepared to order. The rice is stiky yet firm, without the excess sugar content you find usually in lesser joints in the area. Their great selection of both cold and warm sake is very inviting as well: the happy hour discounted price is also a nice addition. Quality wise alone it is worth a visit. The service is friendly and very up to their game: no complains there. They also offer an all-you-can-eat option, with a very clear policy of eating all you order or pay for the leftovers, which makes much sense. I'd almost give it a 5 star were it not for the time of execution of your order: given how busy it can become at night, I recommend to place the entirety of your order in one sitting as waiting time between order and serving on a busy night can vary between 15 to 25 minutes. I also recommend the following which I found of particular distinction: try the Sunomono, the Salmon/Avocado salad appetizer and the Volcano roll. In the world of sushi we all have our favorites and our own take on the balance of sweet and vinegar, excess or simple, modern or traditional, and plain old flare for the exotic. It is no secret that I am a big sushi fan, further, Mikado Metrowest happens to satisfy my weakness. Although, I rank Shin Sushi well on the top of my list. I dined at Mikado Hunter's Creek a long time ago, so with the new Mikado Lake Mary, I was very thrilled to see if my favorite place could translate to another location. Not being very familiar with all of Lake Mary, I employed my trusty GPS. When the lovely soothing GPS voice announced "You have reached your destination." I was still looking around confused. Here I was in a Publix Supermarket Plaza going, huh? So I drove around. I got to the end of the plaza and was still, huh? Oh, I had to look up to see the sign. From Lake Mary Blvd, I saw a sign on this end of the plaza but could not recognize it. Something about the lighting and font of the sign rendered it as a spot on the big expansive wall. The entrance is on the side of the building facing N.Sun Dr.. Maybe it is a feng shui thing, of which I'll admit I am ignorant, forgive me please. But unless you are right up on the restaurant you can not see it. Oh well, I am here let's go in. Welcome to a very modern contemporary take on the more traditional Metrowest and Hunter's Creek location. The large sushi bar with brick backdrop welcome diners to interact. Dark woods and contrasting wall colors create a very stylish feel. There is a feature wall that boast a gentle display of curves, almost invoking a sense of fluidity. Dark furniture sits on large metallic brushed rectangular porcelain floor tiles to resemble a cozy comfort setting. The gorgeous soft brushed linen metallic rectangular porcelain tiles adorn the bathroom walls, bringing a sense of continuity from the dining room. Tall free flowing glass tubes highlight points of reference in the open dining room. This very stark low lit canvas is a perfect backdrop for showcasing wonderful food. The menu here has a couple of additions that the other locations does not have. The big addition is "Weekend All You Can Eat Sushi($23.95)"! There is a large combination of regular rolls and a few complicated rolls, for a fixed price. Anyone ready for a sushi throw down? "Rules: no sharing unless they are all you can eat patrons, no taking home. We suggest you don't order more than you can eat, please be advised that uneaten food will be charged to your bill: $1.25 per pc. sushi (including rice), $1.50 per pc. sashimi, $0.75 per pc. roll. Any kitchen food must be finished before ordering more." (as shown in menu picture above). Any wavering of the rule you will be spanked and sent to the corner! Really? Why shouldn't you just go to an "All you can eat buffet", eat what you want and throw the rest away, rather than be subjected to the spanking? While we were going over the menu and discussing what to order, the manager walked over and suggested we order "All you can eat". Whatever made him feel like we wanted a spanking for not finishing our food? This location has Hibachi, the popular flat top Japanese cooking method. Unfortunately, there is no magic fancy chef show as the hibachi grills are in the kitchen. But, the amazing "white shrimp sauce" is there. Squid salad with supposedly a sprinkling of seaweed salad. The menu reads: Squid Salad Julienne cut, marinated squid w. ginger, black mushroom, bamboo shoots $5.95. The server said that there was cucumber at the bottom and she would replace the cucumber with my request for a sprinkling of seaweed. Sounds great, since I love this combination. Oops, someone forgot to mention that there was a $3.00 upcharge! Here is an inside secret, squid and seaweed salad is sourced from a vendor in a box. Some restaurants add different items to stand out. Using cucumbers as a base for squid salad to make it appear as a larger portion is not quite what I expected. Even further, replacing the cucumber and upcharging $3.00 without telling me is adding insult to injury. Miscommunication from my server? Maybe. It is certainly not about $3.00, it is more of the principle. I am going to reiterate, did I mention I like Mikado Metrowest? I thought so. Sashimi - Smoked salmon, mackerel, toro. Toro has a refrigerated life of maybe two days, three is pushing it. I understand not having this highly perishable item available when there is no market. The Toro was still cold and watery in the middle. While I appreciate the chef's attempt of serving all sashimi at the same time, I would have been okay had someone communicated that it would take an extra minute rather than serve me icicle. Maybe I am accustomed to having my mackerel with grated ginger, but that was missing. Smoked salmon was spot on. Nigiri - Tuna and salmon. Both fish texture and flavors were okay. I eat at Bayridge for the All you Can Eat Sushi every couple of weeks so I was excited when I got a mailer for a new option and with an expanded all you can eat menu. Not crazy about the $23.95 price but all you can eat is really the only way I eat sushi because when I got to regular sushi places I spend more and always leave hungry. One positive note was that they reduce their alcohol prices to normal levels if you order the AYCE so a glass of house swill was $3. I got in there at 8:30 on a Thursday and there were people at 4 or 5 tables. The expanded menu of udon, terriyaki, tempura, dumplings and fried rice seems enticing at first but you soon realize that they are clever ruses designed to fill you up on the cheap. We ordered two seaweed salads and some poor fried pork dumplings and things started to turn south fast. It took too long for these starters to come out and then our waitress disappeared. After finally getting her over we ordered a crazy roll and some nigiri. My first bite of nigiri was the deal killer, the rice was hard and cold and low grade and packed almost an inch high under the fish. The fish was slightly better than Chinese buffet quality. The roll was standard size with a higher rice to fish ratio than anyone would or should tolerate. The wasabi was an odd color and clearly not of high quality. I seriously considered cutting my losses and running for the door but I am not a thief and my waitress had disappeared again. By that time there were only two other people in the restaurant and I flagged down the manager to file a missing persons report on our waitress. He could see my fuse was about to blow and sent over a complimentary glass of wine. We wound up ordering some more but I was literally in fear; the order included a tuna crunch roll which quite possibly may have been the worst thing I have ever ordered in a sushi restaurant. The roll was over riced and the crunch resembled saw dust. Having to finish it in order to not get charged was a challenge more arduous than climbing Mt. Everest. Alas, the check came and the nightmare came to an end.

We came here for lunch when I was in a serious sushi craving mood. Unfortunately, the hostess had on so much scented body lotion that I could smell it all the way back in our seating which was sort of a appetite killer right off the start. We ordered 4 rolls, with one of them being our ubiquitous sushi yardstick ye olde spicy tuna roll. Which was not spicy...at all and rather flavorless to be honest. The avocado in all our rolls was perfectly ripe, the fish was reasonably fresh, but for the price and the amount of food served it was all in all just a meh experience. Yes the decor is nice, but the roll quality was on par with The Fresh Market's to go sushi.

It doesn't have all the hype that the other local favorite sushi place has, but honestly...the rolls are better here... and the prices are great. the staff is very nice, they will remember you which is great. it's got that home town feel to it, yet ti's still classy. whether it's for lunch or dinner, i've never been disappointed. the Lion King roll is my favorite, super tasty. Def check it out if you're in the area.

Seems by the look of the reviews, we are not the first patrons to receive REALLY AWFUL SERVICE at Mikado Lake Mary. We arrived at the restaurant at about 6:30pm. My husband wasn't too hungry, so he just ordered a hand roll and one uni sushi. My son and I got the all you can eat special, since we wanted appetizers and he definately wanted ice cream for dessert. We ordered soup and salad, a sushi appetizer, a couple pieces of sushi and two rolls. We got our soup after about 15 minutes...we figured maybe things were a little busy, but come on, 15 minutes for miso soup??? Then another 15 minutes later we got the salad. Just a green salad with some avocado on top. 30 seconds max prep time. Okay, so then about 10 minutes later the waitress brings the shrimp appetizer and tells us the sushi bar was running a bit slow, so we might want to order some kitchen food in the meantime. (Keep in mind these stingy dopes charge you $25 for all you can eat but will spank you for not finishing by charging you for everything you leave on your plate a la carte!!!) So I'm more than a little hesitant to order anything else. We wound up finally getting our sushi after an HOUR. I was so over it I couldn't even eat. My husband complained to the waitress several times during our wait, and then had to ask to speak to the manager. The manager finally came over and after my husband shared the fact that we were sorely disappointed with the service, offered to take 20% off our check. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I told him the only way I would consider coming back to give them another chance would be if they comp'ed our meal and gave us a coupon to give them another try. All he did was say he couldn't do that and made excuses about having a large party that was slowing things down. Excuse me, but doesn't the large party take up the same amount of time that five individual tables takes? And they shouldn't slow the sushi bar to a crawl. I left the restaurant with our son to wait in the car while my husband negotiated the check, and he reported to me that after I left, he finally got the manager to take my meal and my son's off the check, and he wound up paying for his sushi and the drinks ( a hot tea and a lemonade). The "hostess", a bratty little wench told my husband that he should "get over it". He told her she didn't have the right to speak to him that way, and that as the customer she should address him as "sir". She infomed him that she didn't call anyone "sir" and he should "get a life".....she did all of this while standing right next to the "manager"....my husband asked him if she was the best he could do for a "hostess" and did he really think it was appropriate for her to be the face of his restaurant??? My husband said she should be fired immediately and she just rolled her eyes. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT. IN FACT, I'VE LOST MY APPETITE COMPLETELY FOR DINING OUT AND WILL MOST LIKELY NOT GO OUT TO EAT AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE. STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE...OH BY THE WAY, THE FOOD WAS MARGINAL TO BOOT! P.S. We went to Orange Leaf Yogurt afterwards so that my son could have his ice cream!!! Went 10 minutes before ladies night and they were not willing to budge for the discount for us...not a big deal, but we thought that was weird. Our tuna appetizer was great although our sushi came out right after. The server was good about checking on us and getting what ever we needed. The sushi was well prepared and tasted good. We live right around the corner from Mikado and have been there twice since they opened last year and found it to be a little overpriced. We typically go to Samurai (1 mile down the road from Mikado) because they offer great happy hour drink and sushi specials and service is always great. We recently received a coupon in the mail from Mikado for $10.00 off of $50.00 spent. We wanted to give them another try and since we are a one income family due to this economy, the coupon was a blessing. Service was great and the food was fresh, but when we tried to use our coupon the manager refused it because we had partaken in the happy hour drink special of buy one glass of wine get one free. This made no sense since our drinks were above and beyond the $50.00 that we spent on food. Not only did they refuse our coupon, but management wouldn't speak to us...they had our server deliver the bad news, which put her in a bad position. What makes it ridiculous is if we had just ordered water our coupon would have been accepted. This is a case of BAD management unfortunately we will NEVER be back...especially when there is a great sushi restaurant right down the road and another one a few miles away (Amura). I don't see these guys making it for much longer. :(

Initiate sushi destruction in 3.....2....1! Umm, I just want to say I LOVE coming here for their AYCE sushi menu! For the low low price of $23.95, you get: made to order salad, assorted soups, kitchen appetizers, sushi, and ice cream. Yes, lots of awesome food for such a reasonable price. There's also an added bonus of discounted sake and beer on the ayce menu. My absolutely favorite roll to get is the tiger roll, rawr! It's assorted raw fish and avocado that's all wrapped up in soy paper. Of course if you don't want to get rolls then just fill up on selected nigiri and sashimi. Normally, I never make it to dessert, but last time I went I got to try a spoonful of my neighbors red bean ice cream. It was absolutely delicious with a surprising floral aftertaste! Oh, just a tip. Order what you want all at once. Service isn't consistent so you may or may not have to flag down your server for follow ups.

Good for what it is. Had dinner here last Saturday night. They have a pretty good happy hour until 7:00 everyday. We ordered a few appetizers and rolls from the happy hour menu and also entrees from the dinner menu. All in all everything was good. They also have an AYCE menu for around $24. You can order anything from this menu as many times as you like as long as you finish what you order. There were cold and hot apps, tempura, rice dishes, noodle dishes, sushi/sashimi ect. I will have to come back and try this sometime. Looks promising though. My one small complaint, the rice they use for sushi is not proper type, the grain was a bit longer than what i'm used to (jasmine rice maybe). I've seen this going on at a few other sushi places around town. Don't get me wrong, it was still good, but I could tell it was not proper. I would recommend Mikado, especially happy hour.

The sushi is average at best-- your typical selection of fish and edible quality. Sadly, my favorite part of dinner was the Sapporo beer.... Service was ridiculously poor. Neither the manager nor the owner were present. When worker called to see about our situation, the manager told the worker not to call because "when he not there he not working." Oh my gosh, Mikado! When I'm in a deep sushi craving and I cannot be satisfied by just ONE roll, I call up my bestie, tell her to skip lunch, and meet me at Mikado's for a sushi dinner extravaganza! For $25 you can have all you can eat select appetizers, soups, noodles, sushi rolls, sashimi, and dessert! Now, if you're a sushi enthusiast, like me, you know that you can EASILY spend $25 on an app and roll alone. Sometimes you can possibly swing splitting a dessert in the mix, but never much more. The price is just the icing on the cake of delicious, fresh food, and impeccable service. If you're wondering if the roll selection is just variations of a California roll, think again! The list is varied and long! Yellowtail is always my favorite and their spicy yellowtail roll is to die for. You can see pictures of my last sushi fest below... don't judge.

What can I say? We LOVE the sushi here! It's better than Amura, IMO, and some friends of ours who love Amuras changed their tune once they came here with us. The portions are great, the price is right... The atmosphere is nice! Not the kind of place I'd bring my kids though. It's more of a date night spot. The only weird thing is their all you can eat deal. It's like $25 and you can eat all the sushi you want, but if you don't finish what you order, you have to pay (yes, pay) about .25- .50 a roll. That's kind of lame. Although I suppose that stops people from wasting food. Who knows. Just go and don't be a glutton. Haha! I'm not sure why people are saying service is horrible but I've never had bad service here. Maybe they just don't know how to order. Not the best sushi I ever had, but definitely not the worst. My husband works up in Lake Mary, and I decided to meet up with him for lunch one afternoon. We both got the lunch special, which included salad/soup and two basic rolls of your choosing for $9. Not a bad price. We both opted for salad, which was a huge portion. Typical half-frozen iceberg lettuce with thick ginger dressing. It was good. I ordered the spicy crunchy salmon roll and shrimp tempura roll. My husband ordered the crunch roll and the spicy crunchy salmon roll. They were all good. Our service was fast, which is very much appreciated when you're on your lunch hour. For so many positive reviews, I was surprised how empty this place was! Overall I would come back for lunch. Sushi was fresh and reasonably priced, and service was good.

Sushi AYCE was decent and the menu is rather extensive. I'd recommend most of their offerings except for the tuna sushi. The tempuras (which actually should be renamed to Panko) are average. Service can be very slow at times and be wary of the bespectacled asian waitress who can be rude and pushy. No problem with the rest of the wait staff. Their sashimi AYCE is the only reason why I will head back.

The portions were tiny for the price. We were hungry a couple hours later. This would've been okay if I was dieting, but I'm not. I had the shrimp tempura bento box, which had the most amount of food among all the orders. Tempura was nothing special and I was mildly amused by the fact that I only had 2 shrimp tempura. Colleagues had teriyaki and noodles, which were okay, just not enough. Apparently sushi specials are the way to go here. Too bad I was so unimpressed that I didn't really want to go back.

Not up to par, sadly I had high hopes for this place. I'm not much of a roll person but ever since my boyfriend moved to Florida AYCE sushi is non-existing. We ordered 3 rolls, a sashimi special, and 1 desert. Roll #1 Banzai Tree: 0/5 Tuna, yellowtail, krabmeat, avocado & tobiko rolled w. thinly sliced of cucumber, served w. lime ponzu sauce. I guess I wanted refreshing but not THAT refreshing. This roll was wrapped in a cucumber shell. Honestly I think this roll would've tasted great if it had rice. lol Roll #2 Yummy Roll 4/5 King crab, seaweed salad, spicy mayo rolled w. tempura flakes, laced w. tuna, salmon, whitefish & shrimp. This roll was pretty decent but I found the roll rather small. Roll #3 Lemon Oyster Roll 3/5 Fried oyster, masago, scallion, spicy sauce w. rice seasoning & slice lemon on top. Wanted to try something interesting. This roll had slices of lemon on top of it. It added a nice balance with the fried oyster if you eat the zest (lemon skin). But again I found this roll rather small. Portion sizes were definitely small. Sashimi Lunch special: 0/5 comes with I believe 10-12 slices of sashimi. I was excited because I usually just eat sashimi or nigiri. But the fish wasn't very fresh. It came with salmon, tuna, Yellow tail, and some other fish that tasted like dirt. Super icky.

If they are busy, the all u can eat turns into, order once and then don't expect to reorder again for 45 minutes. I like the food here, but it's very poorly managed and one time everything is great, and the next time your walking out in disgust.

I love the AYCE menu! It's a great deal for your money lol. Went based on reviews and it was surprisingly delicious. Sushi was fresh and not at all like those buffet places (yuck). I believe I had about a total of 3 or 4 rolls, 2 pieces of nigiri, 2 appetizers, and chocolate ice cream. Yup, I know I slept well that night. Anyway, it's a nice restaurant and I know I'll be back for the occasional sushi feast.

Their sushi is the best in town that I have found, and you just cannot beat their All you can eat deal. I can stuff myself with some sushi. The waitstaff is always nice and refills come promptly. The sushi chefs are a little slow sometimes, but you can't rush perfection I guess :)

This is my Go to spot in Orlando. For lunch the bento boxes are great or the tuna 3 way! But in my mind Mikado shines with it's all you can eat deal. It is $23 per person. And if you love great quality sushi, You will definitely get your money's worth. A couple of my favorites is the salmon avocado salad, Kamikaze roll,Mikado roll, and of course tons of eel nigiri. Don't forget the red bean icecream! The service here is great every time I've come. I highly recommend Mikado!

The rolls were good, but the service was extremely slow and disjointed (although we did come at around 2:50 p.m. when it closes at 3 p.m., but I was still disappointed with the service). We really wanted to each sushi, so we looked up the nearest sushi place, not realizing that Mikado was about to close. They still let us in and seated us, so, although I felt kind of bad making people stay, I noticed that there were still some tables full. We wanted to start out with vegetable tempura, but the server informed us that the oil had already been changed out so it was impossible. That was fine, so we ended up ordering three rolls, the mango roll, the thai pham roll and a grilled lobster roll. The grilled lobster and the thai pham came at a reasonable rate and I enjoyed both of them. I was afraid the thai pham would be too spicy for me, but it had just the right amount of kick. (I really cannot tolerate almost any level of spice, so if you enjoy spicy food, this is not your roll). There were less pieces of sushi in the grilled lobster roll, but it was still good. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. We were told that they had to heat up the oil for the tempura shrimp in the mango roll. We wondered if they were heating up the oil for that, then could they have heated up the oil for the vegetable tempura? It was a little strange. Also, we would have been fine ordering another roll, if we knew that it would take forever to get the mango roll. When the mango roll finally came, I was not impressed. The mango sauce on it had a weird taste to it. I wouldn't order it again. Maybe if I come back at a more normal lunch hour I would give it 4 stars, but for the service and the disappointment of the mango roll I have to give it a 3.

I visited Orlando on the weekend. A friend recommended this place. We went in a group of 6. The place was big. It was clean. It looked nice. We were greeted by the host. We all decided to go for their AYCE (all you can eat) menu. The all you can eat menu had a very large selection. From soups, to salads, fried foods, fried rice, specialty rolls. They had it all. Everything I ordered was very good, the quality does not go down just because its from the AYCE menu. Hot sake was good. Our server Jenny was very kind and did a great job handling all the orders. $23 bucks for the AYCE Menu, but that was a steal in comparison to what I ate. Next time Im around Ill make sure to visit.

My boyfriend and I had heard good things about Mikado through word of mouth. So, we were accompanied by another couple for dinner here. At Mikado, they offer an all-you-can-eat option along with their regular menu which includes many of their kitchen appetizers, limited kitchen lunch/dinner, sashimi, nigiri, classic sushi rolls, signature sushi rolls, and dessert. I was surprised to see that they offered sashimi with their all-you-can-eat as it's hard to find restaurants that do. They have a lot more to choose from than the menu they have on their website. I had a couple of their signature rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and some shrimp tempura (from the kitchen). While going town on all my dinner, I did take the fact that it was an "all-you-can-eat" into deep consideration when critiquing the food. All the fish they used for their sushi seemed fresh. I've actually encountered in my past experiences some sushi that were less fresh at a NON all-you-can-eat restaurants. In comparison, one of their competitors, Bayridge Sushi Restaurant (which I have written a review on) offer an all-you-can-eat option at a cheaper price. However, the amount of rice they put in their nigiris and sushi rolls are ridiculous. Mikado, on the other hand, clearly aren't trying to mislead their customers with their all-you-can-eat. The shrimp tempura I had was one of the best ones yet. The breading was nice and crispy and it was easy to spot that they weren't using old oil to deep fry in. Little note: their seaweed salad has a bedding of cucumers. The seaweed salad was excellent. The cucumers? Tasteless. So, feel free to ask for it without as I have learned to do. Also, if you like a nice glass (or two) of wine or some sake with your meal, try their lychee sake. It's a cold sake (served in a wine glass) that's good a great amount of sweetness to it. *They offer happy hours on a lot of their items (alcohol, appetizers, sushi rolls, etc) between 4-7 (don't quote me on the hours)* Onto their service.. We had a small asian lady as our server. Her english seemed limited but that didn't stop her from going that extra mile to offer us certain items and to answer the questions we had. Noting that we all had the all-you-can-eat, we were ordering a few items at a time which meant for the server to be on her toes the whole time. She didn't show a hint of annoyance at that which we were really appreciative for. We will definitely be back for the food and for the service !

I've been twice and both experiences were with sushi. I have no complaints about their sushi or service. It may be a dollar or two higher than what you may expect, but the freshness of the fish makes you forget about that. My last visit I had the Las Vegas Roll: Spicy yellowtail, avocado, asparagus rolled w. tuna, salmon & trio tobiko on top drizzed w. wasabi mayo & spicy sauce. Just enough spice and it looked great. This place is kind of a hidden gem as well. its off of Lake Mary blvd next to TJ Maxx. if you aren't looking for it, you'll miss it. Stop in and give them a chance, you won't be disappointed.

I went here with a group of friends after hearing how great their happy hour specials are. At $4 a roll, with hot apps as well, I was excited to dig in, but as soon as the food arrived, I changed my mind. The tempura shrimp roll was so huge I had to bite the sushi pieces in half, and it turned into a mess. The spicy tuna tasted like tuna from a can. The Edamame was okay, but by this point, I had totally lost my appetite. After one bite of that tuna roll, I passed it off to a friend. The staff were all super friendly and nice, they kept our drinks filled, and the drink prices were great! If they could bring their food up a notch, this would be a great place for dinner in Lake Mary. Unfortunately, as it is, I won't be going back.

I highly recommend the Tuna Vase (avocado and chunks of sesame tuna). Its not on the menu but one of the reasons I'd come back to Mikado. The sushi is fresh, the sake is hot, and service is good. You're better off getting a table if you're used to sitting at the sushi bar like me. The sushi chefs aren't very interactive half of them have a hard time understanding English.

So this should have been a 3-star review. Service really made it a great experience. So let's take it from the top. I was looking for a good AYCE sushi place around Orlando to take the family and was amazed at the lack of them! I found Mikado Japanese Cuisine in the north side of town, it had decent reviews and had an all-you-can-eat deal for $25. Arriving at this place, it looked nice, the decor was casual but elegant and the vibe was ok. Some of us did the AYCE while others ordered off the regular menu. This is where they almost get 3 stars. The AYCE selection was quite limited and the rolls were a bit small and a heavy on the rice. The regular items were neatly presented and, according to those dining with us, all were tasty and the portions were generous. Service is where they definitely won me over. Our waitress was Japanese and had limited english, but this did not stop her from going over the top and make sure we were all very well taken care of. She had an upbeat attitude and a great smile on her face, did her very best to offer suggestions and specials, and even tried speaking a little bit of spanish to my uncle (who does not speak english) and made him feel very welcomed. This was my family's first time eating Japanese food and walked away very pleased Thank you ver much for having an amazing staff. Try to take the restrictions off the AYCE menu!

Love this place. I have been looking for a good sushi place in central fl for awhile and this is the spot. The lunch special is perfect with a decent choice of rolls. I get the philly, cali, and boston roll. Sushi is always fresh with a good presentation. The atmosphere is good the service is good. I went once to the all you can eat and I didnt get my money's worth but they have amazing choices of rolls n it is really a good deal if you can eat. If your in the lake mary area you gotta check it out.

If you asked me about this place before yesterday, I would have given it two stars and let you know I would not go back.... I received an advertisement flyer that included a daily sushi happy hour 4-7 - thought we gotta check it out... Ordered half the items off of the happy hour menu with some trepidation but we were hungry! The rolls on the list were $4 each order and appetizers for $3.50 a plate. The roles are awesome! Not over-ladened with heavy rice and had good flavor. Ingredients were fresh. The nori was a bit chewy but this I can overlook. The shrimp tempura roll, we ordered more! It was tasty, the shrimp still warm out of the fryer! The chicken yakitori was well cooked and had decent flavor, have to eat the lemon wedges with them to balance the semi-decent teriyaki sauce. We ordered an entre of donkatsu which came with soup, salad, and rice - this is something we'd order again. Overall, experience was great. We'd def go back for the happy hour ONLY. During regular hours, food is overpriced for what it offers. The bento boxes are wayyyy overpriced. Would come here over AMURAs in Towne Park fo'sho. Decor - what's with the random shiny sticks protruding from the table backboards?

They are a bit slow. I've gone with a party of two and as a party of three and all meals were delivered staggered. The place is very clean. The waitresses have been awesome about drink refills. It is really a good lunch value for some tasty sushi.

Always good, and always a good price! I admit I am not a huge sushi fan, but every now and again I am in the mood for some sushi, so I go to Mikado. I almost always go at lunch, and the lung specials are an excellent value - $11.99 for 3 rolls, plus soup or salad. Everything tastes fresh and is done to my picky standards (no veggies!) and I usually get the same waitress who knows my order, even though I only go once or twice a month. All in all a good lunch. It beats choking down a burger and fries and its not that much more! Service is fast as well. Go and have a good time!

I went for dinner, and I was pleasantly surprised by the happy hour specials: appetizers and few select rolls for $4. I ordered few rolls, of note the Sandwich roll: it was perfectly made, creative assortment of fish and generous portion. I also ordered the Sunomono for appetizer: clean, fresh and deliciously sliced thin fish. I would have given Mikado 5 stars if they only served the rolls with a bit less rice. Other than that, I was very satisfied with food quality, service and the fair prices.

I eat at Bayridge for the All you Can Eat Sushi every couple of weeks so I was excited when I got a mailer for a new option and with an expanded all you can eat menu. Not crazy about the $23.95 price but all you can eat is really the only way I eat sushi because when I got to regular sushi places I spend more and always leave hungry. One positive note was that they reduce their alcohol prices to normal levels if you order the AYCE so a glass of house swill was $3. I got in there at 8:30 on a Thursday and there were people at 4 or 5 tables. The expanded menu of udon, terriyaki, tempura, dumplings and fried rice seems enticing at first but you soon realize that they are clever ruses designed to fill you up on the cheap. We ordered two seaweed salads and some poor fried pork dumplings and things started to turn south fast. It took too long for these starters to come out and then our waitress disappeared. After finally getting her over we ordered a crazy roll and some nigiri. My first bite of nigiri was the deal killer, the rice was hard and cold and low grade and packed almost an inch high under the fish. The fish was slightly better than Chinese buffet quality. The roll was standard size with a higher rice to fish ratio than anyone would or should tolerate. The wasabi was an odd color and clearly not of high quality. I seriously considered cutting my losses and running for the door but I am not a thief and my waitress had disappeared again. By that time there were only two other people in the restaurant and I flagged down the manager to file a missing persons report on our waitress. He could see my fuse was about to blow and sent over a complimentary glass of wine. We wound up ordering some more but I was literally in fear; the order included a tuna crunch roll which quite possibly may have been the worst thing I have ever ordered in a sushi restaurant. The roll was over riced and the crunch resembled saw dust. Having to finish it in order to not get charged was a challenge more arduous than climbing Mt. Everest. Alas, the check came and the nightmare came to an end.

Unfortunately, the hostess had on so much scented body lotion that I could smell it all the way back in our seating which was sort of a appetite killer right off the start. We ordered 4 rolls, with one of them being our ubiquitous sushi yardstick ye olde spicy tuna roll. Which was not spicy...at all and rather flavorless to be honest. The avocado in all our rolls was perfectly ripe, the fish was reasonably fresh, but for the price and the amount of food served it was all in all just a meh experience. Yes the decor is nice, but the roll quality was on par with The Fresh Market's to go sushi.

We live right around the corner from Mikado and have been there twice since they opened last year and found it to be a little overpriced. We typically go to Samurai (1 mile down the road from Mikado) because they offer great happy hour drink and sushi specials and service is always great. We recently received a coupon in the mail from Mikado for $10.00 off of $50.00 spent. We wanted to give them another try and since we are a one income family due to this economy, the coupon was a blessing. Service was great and the food was fresh, but when we tried to use our coupon the manager refused it because we had partaken in the happy hour drink special of buy one glass of wine get one free. This made no sense since our drinks were above and beyond the $50.00 that we spent on food. Not only did they refuse our coupon, but management wouldn't speak to us...they had our server deliver the bad news, which put her in a bad position. What makes it ridiculous is if we had just ordered water our coupon would have been accepted. This is a case of BAD management unfortunately we will NEVER be back...especially when there is a great sushi restaurant right down the road and another one a few miles away (Amura). I don't see these guys making it for much longer. :(

Initiate sushi destruction in 3.....2....1! Umm, I just want to say I LOVE coming here for their AYCE sushi menu! For the low low price of $23.95, you get: made to order salad, assorted soups, kitchen appetizers, sushi, and ice cream. Yes, lots of awesome food for such a reasonable price. There's also an added bonus of discounted sake and beer on the ayce menu. My absolutely favorite roll to get is the tiger roll, rawr! It's assorted raw fish and avocado that's all wrapped up in soy paper. Of course if you don't want to get rolls then just fill up on selected nigiri and sashimi. Normally, I never make it to dessert, but last time I went I got to try a spoonful of my neighbors red bean ice cream. It was absolutely delicious with a surprising floral aftertaste! Oh, just a tip. Order what you want all at once. Service isn't consistent so you may or may not have to flag down your server for follow ups.

It doesn't have all the hype that the other local favorite sushi place has, but honestly...the rolls are better here... and the prices are great. the staff is very nice, they will remember you which is great. it's got that home town feel to it, yet ti's still classy. whether it's for lunch or dinner, i've never been disappointed. the Lion King roll is my favorite, super tasty. Def check it out if you're in the area.

Seems by the look of the reviews, we are not the first patrons to receive REALLY AWFUL SERVICE at Mikado Lake Mary. We arrived at the restaurant at about 6:30pm. My husband wasn't too hungry, so he just ordered a hand roll and one uni sushi. My son and I got the all you can eat special, since we wanted appetizers and he definately wanted ice cream for dessert. We ordered soup and salad, a sushi appetizer, a couple pieces of sushi and two rolls. We got our soup after about 15 minutes...we figured maybe things were a little busy, but come on, 15 minutes for miso soup??? Then another 15 minutes later we got the salad. Just a green salad with some avocado on top. 30 seconds max prep time. Okay, so then about 10 minutes later the waitress brings the shrimp appetizer and tells us the sushi bar was running a bit slow, so we might want to order some kitchen food in the meantime. (Keep in mind these stingy dopes charge you $25 for all you can eat but will spank you for not finishing by charging you for everything you leave on your plate a la carte!!!) So I'm more than a little hesitant to order anything else. We wound up finally getting our sushi after an HOUR. I was so over it I couldn't even eat. My husband complained to the waitress several times during our wait, and then had to ask to speak to the manager. The manager finally came over and after my husband shared the fact that we were sorely disappointed with the service, offered to take 20% off our check. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I told him the only way I would consider coming back to give them another chance would be if they comp'ed our meal and gave us a coupon to give them another try. All he did was say he couldn't do that and made excuses about having a large party that was slowing things down. Excuse me, but doesn't the large party take up the same amount of time that five individual tables takes? And they shouldn't slow the sushi bar to a crawl. I left the restaurant with our son to wait in the car while my husband negotiated the check, and he reported to me that after I left, he finally got the manager to take my meal and my son's off the check, and he wound up paying for his sushi and the drinks ( a hot tea and a lemonade). The "hostess", a bratty little wench told my husband that he should "get over it". He told her she didn't have the right to speak to him that way, and that as the customer she should address him as "sir". She infomed him that she didn't call anyone "sir" and he should "get a life".....she did all of this while standing right next to the "manager"....my husband asked him if she was the best he could do for a "hostess" and did he really think it was appropriate for her to be the face of his restaurant??? My husband said she should be fired immediately and she just rolled her eyes. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT. IN FACT, I'VE LOST MY APPETITE COMPLETELY FOR DINING OUT AND WILL MOST LIKELY NOT GO OUT TO EAT AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE. STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE...OH BY THE WAY, THE FOOD WAS MARGINAL TO BOOT! P.S. We went to Orange Leaf Yogurt afterwards so that my son could have his ice cream!!! He says "YUM!" gummy bears!!! not hard to please....

Went 10 minutes before ladies night and they were not willing to budge for the discount for us...not a big deal, but we thought that was weird. Our tuna appetizer was great although our sushi came out right after. The server was good about checking on us and getting what ever we needed. The sushi was well prepared and tasted good. Nothing special regarding the sushi, although, nothing bad either. The major downfall was the male host kept pacing in front of our table, and commenting every time. He was making our whole table very uncomfortable. Due to his behavior, we will NOT be returning.

The all you can eat is wonderful! You order items off a menu so they come fresh. The snapper appetizer is a must! One of the only AYCE sushi places that allows you to order sashimi by the slice. Every time I'm in town I look forward to my visit here. Can't wait to get back here.

I've been here twice and we always order from the All You Can Eat Menu. What a deal!!! So many choices from salads, soups, usual appetizers, plenty of sushi options, teriyaki, tempura & fried rice. The portion size is just right in case you want to try everything! But make sure you leave room for the red bean ice cream...also included!!! The food was delicious & service was great! Not from here, but a must when I visit!

I am a huge sushi lover! I come here at least twice a month. I get a salmon roll and shrimp tempura roll. both are always delicious. The servers are friendly and the food comes out fast. There is also rarely a wait which is so nice. I would suggest giving it a try!

Good for what it is. Had dinner here last Saturday night. They have a pretty good happy hour until 7:00 everyday. We ordered a few appetizers and rolls from the happy hour menu and also entrees from the dinner menu. All in all everything was good. They also have an AYCE menu for around $24. You can order anything from this menu as many times as you like as long as you finish what you order. There were cold and hot apps, tempura, rice dishes, noodle dishes, sushi/sashimi ect. I will have to come back and try this sometime. Looks promising though. My one small complaint, the rice they use for sushi is not proper type, the grain was a bit longer than what i'm used to (jasmine rice maybe). I've seen this going on at a few other sushi places around town. Don't get me wrong, it was still good, but I could tell it was not proper. I would recommend Mikado, especially happy hour.

With that being said I LOVE THIS PLACE! haven't been here before but will be returning, the sushi was very good and even though the service was a little slow the waitress we had made up for it she was hott! We went this past week for lunch, they have great specials with pricing to match. I go the steak Bento box and it was perfect. I have been here before as well, and the food is always delicious and fresh. The service was good, restaurant was clean and overall a great experience. Haven't had the chance to enjoy the 'AYCE' special but I have a feeling I will be back and tackle that soon :)

The price you pay for AYCE is unbeatable. I've been to a few AYCE sushi places in FL that I won't return to as the quality of fish was questionable at times. I've never questioned Mikado's quality and return time and time again here.

The sushi is average at best-- your typical selection of fish and edible quality. Sadly, my favorite part of dinner was the Sapporo beer.... Service was ridiculously poor. Neither the manager nor the owner were present. When worker called to see about our situation, the manager told the worker not to call because "when he not there he not working." They have absolutely no sense of hospitality etiquette in the restaurant business. ALL IN ALL: If you want high priced-average sushi with poor service, Mikados is the place for you.

Oh my gosh, Mikado! When I'm in a deep sushi craving and I cannot be satisfied by just ONE roll, I call up my bestie, tell her to skip lunch, and meet me at Mikado's for a sushi dinner extravaganza! For $25 you can have all you can eat select appetizers, soups, noodles, sushi rolls, sashimi, and dessert! Now, if you're a sushi enthusiast, like me, you know that you can EASILY spend $25 on an app and roll alone. Sometimes you can possibly swing splitting a dessert in the mix, but never much more. The price is just the icing on the cake of delicious, fresh food, and impeccable service. If you're wondering if the roll selection is just variations of a California roll, think again! The list is varied and long! Yellowtail is always my favorite and their spicy yellowtail roll is to die for. You can see pictures of my last sushi fest below... don't judge.

Tasty sushi at a good price. Go for lunch. The lunch specials I got was $8.95 for two rolls and a soup or salad. Shrimp Tempura Roll and a Spicy Tuna Roll. Salad was good but miso soup okay. They are a bit slow. I've gone with a party of two and as a party of three and all meals were delivered staggered. The place is very clean. The waitresses have been awesome about drink refills. It is really a good lunch value for some tasty sushi.

Always good, and always a good price! I admit I am not a huge sushi fan, but every now and again I am in the mood for some sushi, so I go to Mikado. I almost always go at lunch, and the lung specials are an excellent value - $11.99 for 3 rolls, plus soup or salad. Everything tastes fresh and is done to my picky standards (no veggies!) and I usually get the same waitress who knows my order, even though I only go once or twice a month. All in all a good lunch. It beats choking down a burger and fries and its not that much more! Service is fast as well. Go and have a good time!

I went for dinner, and I was pleasantly surprised by the happy hour specials: appetizers and few select rolls for $4. I ordered few rolls, of note the Sandwich roll: it was perfectly made, creative assortment of fish and generous portion. I also ordered the Sunomono for appetizer: clean, fresh and deliciously sliced thin fish. I would have given Mikado 5 stars if they only served the rolls with a bit less rice. Other than that, I was very satisfied with food quality, service and the fair prices.

Vegetarians beware!!!! My boyfriend and I tried this sushi place twice and both times were disappointing. The first time we went, we specifically asked if the soups or entrees contained any fish. The server told us no, so we ordered them. They were ok, but later that night we both felt sick. We decided to give it one more chance. This time, when the server saw we only ordered vegetables and asked if we were vegetarian, we said yes, and she said that all the soups and entrees had fish and chicken in them!! Thanks a lot! No wonder we were sick last time. That other served must not have even asked what was in anything. So anyway, we ordered everything without the teriyaki sauce (which has chicken) and without fish sauce and bonito, all of which i guess they put on everything cooked. But this time everything tasted the same as last time and we were sick again! So either the kitchen is really dirty, or the chefs just didn't care that the server put a note that we were vegetarian. We will never be back. How hard is it to make a vegetable hobachi or yaki soba without any meat sauce?? And not to mention, we wanted the tempura, but it has eggs (even though that is NOT the traditional style) and their veggie 'garden' roll was far from it. The only difference between that and their aac roll was they added pickled daikon. if you're avoiding meat, DO NOT EAT HERE! Were sticking to shin and garden cafe from now on!

Atmosphere ideal for a quiet and even classy dinner, alone or in company. The sushi bar is very busy, and it might take longer than usual time to get your order, but it is worth the wait: I had sushi the quality of which I encountered only in Tokyo, Singapore and San Francisco, fresh, dry aged, very well handled and prepared to order. The rice is stiky yet firm, without the excess sugar content you find usually in lesser joints in the area. Their great selection of both cold and warm sake is very inviting as well: the happy hour discounted price is also a nice addition. Quality wise alone it is worth a visit. The service is friendly and very up to their game: no complains there. They also offer an all-you-can-eat option, with a very clear policy of eating all you order or pay for the leftovers, which makes much sense. I'd almost give it a 5 star were it not for the time of execution of your order: given how busy it can become at night, I recommend to place the entirety of your order in one sitting as waiting time between order and serving on a busy night can vary between 15 to 25 minutes. I also recommend the following which I found of particular distinction: try the Sunomono, the Salmon/Avocado salad appetizer and the Volcano roll. I highly recommend the Tuna Vase (avocado and chunks of sesame tuna). Its not on the menu but one of the reasons I'd come back to Mikado. The sushi is fresh, the sake is hot, and service is good. You're better off getting a table if you're used to sitting at the sushi bar like me. The sushi chefs aren't very interactive half of them have a hard time understanding English.

My boyfriend and I had heard good things about Mikado through word of mouth. So, we were accompanied by another couple for dinner here. At Mikado, they offer an all-you-can-eat option along with their regular menu which includes many of their kitchen appetizers, limited kitchen lunch/dinner, sashimi, nigiri, classic sushi rolls, signature sushi rolls, and dessert. I was surprised to see that they offered sashimi with their all-you-can-eat as it's hard to find restaurants that do. They have a lot more to choose from than the menu they have on their website. I had a couple of their signature rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and some shrimp tempura (from the kitchen). While going town on all my dinner, I did take the fact that it was an "all-you-can-eat" into deep consideration when critiquing the food. All the fish they used for their sushi seemed fresh. I've actually encountered in my past experiences some sushi that were less fresh at a NON all-you-can-eat restaurants. In comparison, one of their competitors, Bayridge Sushi Restaurant (which I have written a review on) offer an all-you-can-eat option at a cheaper price. However, the amount of rice they put in their nigiris and sushi rolls are ridiculous. Mikado, on the other hand, clearly aren't trying to mislead their customers with their all-you-can-eat. The shrimp tempura I had was one of the best ones yet. The breading was nice and crispy and it was easy to spot that they weren't using old oil to deep fry in. Little note: their seaweed salad has a bedding of cucumers. The seaweed salad was excellent. The cucumers? Tasteless. So, feel free to ask for it without as I have learned to do. Also, if you like a nice glass (or two) of wine or some sake with your meal, try their lychee sake. It's a cold sake (served in a wine glass) that's good a great amount of sweetness to it. *They offer happy hours on a lot of their items (alcohol, appetizers, sushi rolls, etc) between 4-7 (don't quote me on the hours)* Onto their service.. We had a small asian lady as our server. Her english seemed limited but that didn't stop her from going that extra mile to offer us certain items and to answer the questions we had. Noting that we all had the all-you-can-eat, we were ordering a few items at a time which meant for the server to be on her toes the whole time. She didn't show a hint of annoyance at that which we were really appreciative for. We will definitely be back for the food and for the service !

I've been twice and both experiences were with sushi. I have no complaints about their sushi or service. It may be a dollar or two higher than what you may expect, but the freshness of the fish makes you forget about that. My last visit I had the Las Vegas Roll: Spicy yellowtail, avocado, asparagus rolled w. tuna, salmon & trio tobiko on top drizzed w. wasabi mayo & spicy sauce. Just enough spice and it looked great. This place is kind of a hidden gem as well. its off of Lake Mary blvd next to TJ Maxx. if you aren't looking for it, you'll miss it. Stop in and give them a chance, you won't be disappointed.

So this should have been a 3-star review. Service really made it a great experience. So let's take it from the top. I was looking for a good AYCE sushi place around Orlando to take the family and was amazed at the lack of them! I found Mikado Japanese Cuisine in the north side of town, it had decent reviews and had an all-you-can-eat deal for $25. Arriving at this place, it looked nice, the decor was casual but elegant and the vibe was ok. Some of us did the AYCE while others ordered off the regular menu. This is where they almost get 3 stars. The AYCE selection was quite limited and the rolls were a bit small and a heavy on the rice. The regular items were neatly presented and, according to those dining with us, all were tasty and the portions were generous. Service is where they definitely won me over. Our waitress was Japanese and had limited english, but this did not stop her from going over the top and make sure we were all very well taken care of. She had an upbeat attitude and a great smile on her face, did her very best to offer suggestions and specials, and even tried speaking a little bit of spanish to my uncle (who does not speak english) and made him feel very welcomed. This was my family's first time eating Japanese food and walked away very pleased Thank you ver much for having an amazing staff. Try to take the restrictions off the AYCE menu!

Love this place. I have been looking for a good sushi place in central fl for awhile and this is the spot. The lunch special is perfect with a decent choice of rolls. I get the philly, cali, and boston roll. Sushi is always fresh with a good presentation. The atmosphere is good the service is good. I went once to the all you can eat and I didnt get my money's worth but they have amazing choices of rolls n it is really a good deal if you can eat. If you asked me about this place before yesterday, I would have given it two stars and let you know I would not go back.... I received an advertisement flyer that included a daily sushi happy hour 4-7 - thought we gotta check it out... Ordered half the items off of the happy hour menu with some trepidation but we were hungry! The rolls on the list were $4 each order and appetizers for $3.50 a plate. The roles are awesome! Not over-ladened with heavy rice and had good flavor. Ingredients were fresh. The nori was a bit chewy but this I can overlook. The shrimp tempura roll, we ordered more! It was tasty, the shrimp still warm out of the fryer! The chicken yakitori was well cooked and had decent flavor, have to eat the lemon wedges with them to balance the semi-decent teriyaki sauce. We ordered an entre of donkatsu which came with soup, salad, and rice - this is something we'd order again. Overall, experience was great. We'd def go back for the happy hour ONLY. During regular hours, food is overpriced for what it offers. The bento boxes are wayyyy overpriced. Would come here over AMURAs in Towne Park fo'sho. Decor - what's with the random shiny sticks protruding from the table backboards?

I have to start out by saying I come here about every two weeks, if not more often. I always get the sushi. As a creature of habit, typically pick from the same list of 4 or 5 rolls--but everything i have had has been delicious. They have a sushi happy hour that starts at 4 i believe, where they discount a lot of the what i call "simple rolls", such as California, Spicy Tuna, Philly roll, etc. I like to sit at the bar where they have a TV and the sushi chefs are very nice and talkative. I somehow manage to pick the times when they are less busy, but service still tends to be a little slow. Not slow enough to deter me though, I will continue to come back here.
Very flavorful and nicely presented sushi! Don't forget to order a bottle of sake to go with your meal. Nice ambiance and courteous staff!

In the world of sushi we all have our favorites and our own take on the balance of sweet and vinegar, excess or simple, modern or traditional, and plain old flare for the exotic. It is no secret that I am a big sushi fan, further, Mikado Metrowest happens to satisfy my weakness. Although, I rank Shin Sushi well on the top of my list. I dined at Mikado Hunter's Creek a long time ago, so with the new Mikado Lake Mary, I was very thrilled to see if my favorite place could translate to another location. Not being very familiar with all of Lake Mary, I employed my trusty GPS. When the lovely soothing GPS voice announced "You have reached your destination." I was still looking around confused. Here I was in a Publix Supermarket Plaza going, huh? So I drove around. I got to the end of the plaza and was still, huh? Oh, I had to look up to see the sign. From Lake Mary Blvd, I saw a sign on this end of the plaza but could not recognize it. Something about the lighting and font of the sign rendered it as a spot on the big expansive wall. The entrance is on the side of the building facing N.Sun Dr.. Maybe it is a feng shui thing, of which I'll admit I am ignorant, forgive me please. But unless you are right up on the restaurant you can not see it. Oh well, I am here let's go in. Welcome to a very modern contemporary take on the more traditional Metrowest and Hunter's Creek location. The large sushi bar with brick backdrop welcome diners to interact. Dark woods and contrasting wall colors create a very stylish feel. There is a feature wall that boast a gentle display of curves, almost invoking a sense of fluidity. Dark furniture sits on large metallic brushed rectangular porcelain floor tiles to resemble a cozy comfort setting. The gorgeous soft brushed linen metallic rectangular porcelain tiles adorn the bathroom walls, bringing a sense of continuity from the dining room. Tall free flowing glass tubes highlight points of reference in the open dining room. This very stark low lit canvas is a perfect backdrop for showcasing wonderful food. The menu here has a couple of additions that the other locations does not have. The big addition is "Weekend All You Can Eat Sushi($23.95)"! There is a large combination of regular rolls and a few complicated rolls, for a fixed price. Anyone ready for a sushi throw down? "Rules: no sharing unless they are all you can eat patrons, no taking home. We suggest you don't order more than you can eat, please be advised that uneaten food will be charged to your bill: $1.25 per pc. sushi (including rice), $1.50 per pc. sashimi, $0.75 per pc. roll. Any kitchen food must be finished before ordering more." (as shown in menu picture above). Any wavering of the rule you will be spanked and sent to the corner! Really? Why shouldn't you just go to an "All you can eat buffet", eat what you want and throw the rest away, rather than be subjected to the spanking? While we were going over the menu and discussing what to order, the manager walked over and suggested we order "All you can eat". Whatever made him feel like we wanted a spanking for not finishing our food? This location has Hibachi, the popular flat top Japanese cooking method. Unfortunately, there is no magic fancy chef show as the hibachi grills are in the kitchen. But, the amazing "white shrimp sauce" is there. Squid salad with supposedly a sprinkling of seaweed salad. The menu reads: Squid Salad Julienne cut, marinated squid w. ginger, black mushroom, bamboo shoots $5.95. The server said that there was cucumber at the bottom and she would replace the cucumber with my request for a sprinkling of seaweed. Sounds great, since I love this combination. Oops, someone forgot to mention that there was a $3.00 upcharge! Here is an inside secret, squid and seaweed salad is sourced from a vendor in a box. Some restaurants add different items to stand out. Using cucumbers as a base for squid salad to make it appear as a larger portion is not quite what I expected. Even further, replacing the cucumber and upcharging $3.00 without telling me is adding insult to injury. Miscommunication from my server? Maybe. It is certainly not about $3.00, it is more of the principle. I am going to reiterate, did I mention I like Mikado Metrowest? I thought so. Sashimi - Smoked salmon, mackerel, toro. Toro has a refrigerated life of maybe two days, three is pushing it. I understand not having this highly perishable item available when there is no market. The Toro was still cold and watery in the middle. While I appreciate the chef's attempt of serving all sashimi at the same time, I would have been okay had someone communicated that it would take an extra minute rather than serve me icicle. Maybe I am accustomed to having my mackerel with grated ginger, but that was missing. Smoked salmon was spot on. Nigiri - Tuna and salmon. Both fish texture and flavors were okay. I went here with a group of friends after hearing how great their happy hour specials are. At $4 a roll, with hot apps as well, I was excited to dig in, but as soon as the food arrived, I changed my mind. The tempura shrimp roll was so huge I had to bite the sushi pieces in half, and it turned into a mess. The spicy tuna tasted like tuna from a can. The Edamame was okay, but by this point, I had totally lost my appetite. After one bite of that tuna roll, I passed it off to a friend. The staff were all super friendly and nice, they kept our drinks filled, and the drink prices were great! If they could bring their food up a notch, this would be a great place for dinner in Lake Mary. Unfortunately, as it is, I won't be going back.

What can I say? We LOVE the sushi here! It's better than Amura, IMO, and some friends of ours who love Amuras changed their tune once they came here with us. The portions are great, the price is right... The atmosphere is nice! Not the kind of place I'd bring my kids though. It's more of a date night spot. The only weird thing is their all you can eat deal. It's like $25 and you can eat all the sushi you want, but if you don't finish what you order, you have to pay (yes, pay) about .25- .50 a roll. That's kind of lame. Although I suppose that stops people from wasting food. Who knows. Just go and don't be a glutton. Haha! The Mexican roll, magic roll, Godzilla roll, and shrimp tempura roll are bomb.

I've reviewed this place before and I absolutely love their food, but unfortunately the service has gotten so bad that I'll never get a chance to eat it again. We just walked out after sitting at a table for 15 minutes and no one ever took our drink order. They've lost me, I'm not going back. Every time my family comes to Florida we make sure to stop here at least once. The all you can eat is amazing! The sushi is fresh and the other dishes are great too! I'm not sure why people are saying service is horrible but I've never had bad service here. Maybe they just don't know how to order. Not the best sushi I ever had, but definitely not the worst. My husband works up in Lake Mary, and I decided to meet up with him for lunch one afternoon. We both got the lunch special, which included salad/soup and two basic rolls of your choosing for $9. Not a bad price. We both opted for salad, which was a huge portion. Typical half-frozen iceberg lettuce with thick ginger dressing. It was good. I ordered the spicy crunchy salmon roll and shrimp tempura roll. My husband ordered the crunch roll and the spicy crunchy salmon roll. They were all good. Our service was fast, which is very much appreciated when you're on your lunch hour. For so many positive reviews, I was surprised how empty this place was! Overall I would come back for lunch. Sushi was fresh and reasonably priced, and service was good.

Sushi AYCE was decent and the menu is rather extensive. I'd recommend most of their offerings except for the tuna sushi. The tempuras (which actually should be renamed to Panko) are average. Service can be very slow at times and be wary of the bespectacled asian waitress who can be rude and pushy. No problem with the rest of the wait staff. Their sashimi AYCE is the only reason why I will head back.

Not up to par, sadly I had high hopes for this place. I'm not much of a roll person but ever since my boyfriend moved to Florida AYCE sushi is non-existing. We ordered 3 rolls, a sashimi special, and 1 desert. Roll #1 Banzai Tree: 0/5 Tuna, yellowtail, krabmeat, avocado & tobiko rolled w. thinly sliced of cucumber, served w. lime ponzu sauce. I guess I wanted refreshing but not THAT refreshing. This roll was wrapped in a cucumber shell. Honestly I think this roll would've tasted great if it had rice. lol Roll #2 Yummy Roll 4/5 King crab, seaweed salad, spicy mayo rolled w. tempura flakes, laced w. tuna, salmon, whitefish & shrimp. This roll was pretty decent but I found the roll rather small. Roll #3 Lemon Oyster Roll 3/5 Fried oyster, masago, scallion, spicy sauce w. rice seasoning & slice lemon on top. Wanted to try something interesting. This roll had slices of lemon on top of it. It added a nice balance with the fried oyster if you eat the zest (lemon skin). But again I found this roll rather small. Portion sizes were definitely small. Sashimi Lunch special: 0/5 comes with I believe 10-12 slices of sashimi. I was excited because I usually just eat sashimi or nigiri. But the fish wasn't very fresh. It came with salmon, tuna, Yellow tail, and some other fish that tasted like dirt. Super icky.

If they are busy, the all u can eat turns into, order once and then don't expect to reorder again for 45 minutes. I like the food here, but it's very poorly managed and one time everything is great, and the next time your walking out in disgust.

I love the AYCE menu! It's a great deal for your money lol. Went based on reviews and it was surprisingly delicious. Sushi was fresh and not at all like those buffet places (yuck). I believe I had about a total of 3 or 4 rolls, 2 pieces of nigiri, 2 appetizers, and chocolate ice cream. Yup, I know I slept well that night. Anyway, it's a nice restaurant and I know I'll be back for the occasional sushi feast.

Their sushi is the best in town that I have found, and you just cannot beat their All you can eat deal. I can stuff myself with some sushi. The waitstaff is always nice and refills come promptly. The sushi chefs are a little slow sometimes, but you can't rush perfection I guess :)

The portions were tiny for the price. We were hungry a couple hours later. This would've been okay if I was dieting, but I'm not. I had the shrimp tempura bento box, which had the most amount of food among all the orders. Tempura was nothing special and I was mildly amused by the fact that I only had 2 shrimp tempura. Colleagues had teriyaki and noodles, which were okay, just not enough. Apparently sushi specials are the way to go here. Too bad I was so unimpressed that I didn't really want to go back.

I visited Orlando on the weekend. A friend recommended this place. We went in a group of 6. The place was big. It was clean. It looked nice. We were greeted by the host. We all decided to go for their AYCE (all you can eat) menu. The all you can eat menu had a very large selection. From soups, to salads, fried foods, fried rice, specialty rolls. They had it all. Everything I ordered was very good, the quality does not go down just because its from the AYCE menu. Hot sake was good. Our server Jenny was very kind and did a great job handling all the orders. $23 bucks for the AYCE Menu, but that was a steal in comparison to what I ate. Next time Im around Ill make sure to visit.

So this should have been a 3-star review. Service really made it a great experience. So let's take it from the top. I was looking for a good AYCE sushi place around Orlando to take the family and was amazed at the lack of them! I found Mikado Japanese Cuisine in the north side of town, it had decent reviews and had an all-you-can-eat deal for $25. Arriving at this place, it looked nice, the decor was casual but elegant and the vibe was ok. Some of us did the AYCE while others ordered off the regular menu. This is where they almost get 3 stars. The AYCE selection was quite limited and the rolls were a bit small and a heavy on the rice. The regular items were neatly presented and, according to those dining with us, all were tasty and the portions were generous. Service is where they definitely won me over. Our waitress was Japanese and had limited english, but this did not stop her from going over the top and make sure we were all very well taken care of. She had an upbeat attitude and a great smile on her face, did her very best to offer suggestions and specials, and even tried speaking a little bit of spanish to my uncle (who does not speak english) and made him feel very welcomed. This was my family's first time eating Japanese food and walked away very pleased Thank you ver much for having an amazing staff. Try to take the restrictions off the AYCE menu!

If you asked me about this place before yesterday, I would have given it two stars and let you know I would not go back.... I received an advertisement flyer that included a daily sushi happy hour 4-7 - thought we gotta check it out... Ordered half the items off of the happy hour menu with some trepidation but we were hungry! The rolls on the list were $4 each order and appetizers for $3.50 a plate. The roles are awesome! Not over-ladened with heavy rice and had good flavor. Ingredients were fresh. The nori was a bit chewy but this I can overlook. The shrimp tempura roll, we ordered more! It was tasty, the shrimp still warm out of the fryer! The chicken yakitori was well cooked and had decent flavor, have to eat the lemon wedges with them to balance the semi-decent teriyaki sauce. We ordered an entre of donkatsu which came with soup, salad, and rice - this is something we'd order again. Overall, experience was great. We'd def go back for the happy hour ONLY. During regular hours, food is overpriced for what it offers. The bento boxes are wayyyy overpriced. Would come here over AMURAs in Towne Park fo'sho. Decor - what's with the random shiny sticks protruding from the table backboards?

Tasty sushi at a good price. Go for lunch. The lunch specials I got was $8.95 for two rolls and a soup or salad. Shrimp Tempura Roll and a Spicy Tuna Roll. Salad was good but miso soup okay. They are a bit slow. I've gone with a party of two and as a party of three and all meals were delivered staggered. The place is very clean. The waitresses have been awesome about drink refills. It is really a good lunch value for some tasty sushi.

Always good, and always a good price! I admit I am not a huge sushi fan, but every now and again I am in the mood for some sushi, so I go to Mikado. I almost always go at lunch, and the lung specials are an excellent value - $11.99 for 3 rolls, plus soup or salad. Everything tastes fresh and is done to my picky standards (no veggies!) and I usually get the same waitress who knows my order, even though I only go once or twice a month. All in all a good lunch. It beats choking down a burger and fries and its not that much more! Service is fast as well. Go and have a good time!

Atmosphere ideal for a quiet and even classy dinner, alone or in company. The sushi bar is very busy, and it might take longer than usual time to get your order, but it is worth the wait: I had sushi the quality of which I encountered only in Tokyo, Singapore and San Francisco, fresh, dry aged, very well handled and prepared to order. The rice is stiky yet firm, without the excess sugar content you find usually in lesser joints in the area. Their great selection of both cold and warm sake is very inviting as well: the happy hour discounted price is also a nice addition. Quality wise alone it is worth a visit. The service is friendly and very up to their game: no complains there. They also offer an all-you-can-eat option, with a very clear policy of eating all you order or pay for the leftovers, which makes much sense. I'd almost give it a 5 star were it not for the time of execution of your order: given how busy it can become at night, I recommend to place the entirety of your order in one sitting as waiting time between order and serving on a busy night can vary between 15 to 25 minutes. I also recommend the following which I found of particular distinction: try the Sunomono, the Salmon/Avocado salad appetizer and the Volcano roll. In the world of sushi we all have our favorites and our own take on the balance of sweet and vinegar, excess or simple, modern or traditional, and plain old flare for the exotic. It is no secret that I am a big sushi fan, further, Mikado Metrowest happens to satisfy my weakness. Although, I rank Shin Sushi well on the top of my list. I dined at Mikado Hunter's Creek a long time ago, so with the new Mikado Lake Mary, I was very thrilled to see if my favorite place could translate to another location. Not being very familiar with all of Lake Mary, I employed my trusty GPS. When the lovely soothing GPS voice announced "You have reached your destination." I was still looking around confused. Here I was in a Publix Supermarket Plaza going, huh? So I drove around. I got to the end of the plaza and was still, huh? Oh, I had to look up to see the sign. From Lake Mary Blvd, I saw a sign on this end of the plaza but could not recognize it. Something about the lighting and font of the sign rendered it as a spot on the big expansive wall. The entrance is on the side of the building facing N.Sun Dr.. Maybe it is a feng shui thing, of which I'll admit I am ignorant, forgive me please. But unless you are right up on the restaurant you can not see it. Oh well, I am here let's go in. Welcome to a very modern contemporary take on the more traditional Metrowest and Hunter's Creek location. The large sushi bar with brick backdrop welcome diners to interact. Dark woods and contrasting wall colors create a very stylish feel. There is a feature wall that boast a gentle display of curves, almost invoking a sense of fluidity. Dark furniture sits on large metallic brushed rectangular porcelain floor tiles to resemble a cozy comfort setting. The gorgeous soft brushed linen metallic rectangular porcelain tiles adorn the bathroom walls, bringing a sense of continuity from the dining room. Tall free flowing glass tubes highlight points of reference in the open dining room. This very stark low lit canvas is a perfect backdrop for showcasing wonderful food. The menu here has a couple of additions that the other locations does not have. The big addition is "Weekend All You Can Eat Sushi($23.95)"! There is a large combination of regular rolls and a few complicated rolls, for a fixed price. Anyone ready for a sushi throw down? "Rules: no sharing unless they are all you can eat patrons, no taking home. We suggest you don't order more than you can eat, please be advised that uneaten food will be charged to your bill: $1.25 per pc. sushi (including rice), $1.50 per pc. sashimi, $0.75 per pc. roll. Any kitchen food must be finished before ordering more." (as shown in menu picture above). Any wavering of the rule you will be spanked and sent to the corner! Really? Why shouldn't you just go to an "All you can eat buffet", eat what you want and throw the rest away, rather than be subjected to the spanking? While we were going over the menu and discussing what to order, the manager walked over and suggested we order "All you can eat". Whatever made him feel like we wanted a spanking for not finishing our food? This location has Hibachi, the popular flat top Japanese cooking method. Unfortunately, there is no magic fancy chef show as the hibachi grills are in the kitchen. But, the amazing "white shrimp sauce" is there. Squid salad with supposedly a sprinkling of seaweed salad. The menu reads: Squid Salad Julienne cut, marinated squid w. ginger, black mushroom, bamboo shoots $5.95. The server said that there was cucumber at the bottom and she would replace the cucumber with my request for a sprinkling of seaweed. Sounds great, since I love this combination. Oops, someone forgot to mention that there was a $3.00 upcharge! Here is an inside secret, squid and seaweed salad is sourced from a vendor in a box. Some restaurants add different items to stand out. Using cucumbers as a base for squid salad to make it appear as a larger portion is not quite what I expected. Even further, replacing the cucumber and upcharging $3.00 without telling me is adding insult to injury. Miscommunication from my server? Maybe. It is certainly not about $3.00, it is more of the principle. I am going to reiterate, did I mention I like Mikado Metrowest? I thought so. Sashimi - Smoked salmon, mackerel, toro. Toro has a refrigerated life of maybe two days, three is pushing it. I understand not having this highly perishable item available when there is no market. The Toro was still cold and watery in the middle. While I appreciate the chef's attempt of serving all sashimi at the same time, I would have been okay had someone communicated that it would take an extra minute rather than serve me icicle. Maybe I am accustomed to having my mackerel with grated ginger, but that was missing. Smoked salmon was spot on. Nigiri - Tuna and salmon. Both fish texture and flavors were okay. Went 10 minutes before ladies night and they were not willing to budge for the discount for us...not a big deal, but we thought that was weird. Our tuna appetizer was great although our sushi came out right after. The server was good about checking on us and getting what ever we needed. The sushi was well prepared and tasted good. Nothing special regarding the sushi, although, nothing bad either. The major downfall was the male host kept pacing in front of our table, and commenting every time. He was making our whole table very uncomfortable. Due to his behavior, we will NOT be returning.

Seems by the look of the reviews, we are not the first patrons to receive REALLY AWFUL SERVICE at Mikado Lake Mary. We arrived at the restaurant at about 6:30pm. My husband wasn't too hungry, so he just ordered a hand roll and one uni sushi. My son and I got the all you can eat special, since we wanted appetizers and he definately wanted ice cream for dessert. We ordered soup and salad, a sushi appetizer, a couple pieces of sushi and two rolls. We got our soup after about 15 minutes...we figured maybe things were a little busy, but come on, 15 minutes for miso soup??? Then another 15 minutes later we got the salad. Just a green salad with some avocado on top. 30 seconds max prep time. Okay, so then about 10 minutes later the waitress brings the shrimp appetizer and tells us the sushi bar was running a bit slow, so we might want to order some kitchen food in the meantime. (Keep in mind these stingy dopes charge you $25 for all you can eat but will spank you for not finishing by charging you for everything you leave on your plate a la carte!!!) So I'm more than a little hesitant to order anything else. We wound up finally getting our sushi after an HOUR. I was so over it I couldn't even eat. My husband complained to the waitress several times during our wait, and then had to ask to speak to the manager. The manager finally came over and after my husband shared the fact that we were sorely disappointed with the service, offered to take 20% off our check. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I told him the only way I would consider coming back to give them another chance would be if they comp'ed our meal and gave us a coupon to give them another try. All he did was say he couldn't do that and made excuses about having a large party that was slowing things down. Excuse me, but doesn't the large party take up the same amount of time that five individual tables takes? And they shouldn't slow the sushi bar to a crawl. I left the restaurant with our son to wait in the car while my husband negotiated the check, and he reported to me that after I left, he finally got the manager to take my meal and my son's off the check, and he wound up paying for his sushi and the drinks ( a hot tea and a lemonade). The "hostess", a bratty little wench told my husband that he should "get over it". He told her she didn't have the right to speak to him that way, and that as the customer she should address him as "sir". She infomed him that she didn't call anyone "sir" and he should "get a life".....she did all of this while standing right next to the "manager"....my husband asked him if she was the best he could do for a "hostess" and did he really think it was appropriate for her to be the face of his restaurant??? My husband said she should be fired immediately and she just rolled her eyes. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT. IN FACT, I'VE LOST MY APPETITE COMPLETELY FOR DINING OUT AND WILL MOST LIKELY NOT GO OUT TO EAT AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE. STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE...OH BY THE WAY, THE FOOD WAS MARGINAL TO BOOT! P.S. We went to Orange Leaf Yogurt afterwards so that my son could have his ice cream!!! He says "YUM!" gummy bears!!! not hard to please....

We live right around the corner from Mikado and have been there twice since they opened last year and found it to be a little overpriced. We typically go to Samurai (1 mile down the road from Mikado) because they offer great happy hour drink and sushi specials and service is always great. We recently received a coupon in the mail from Mikado for $10.00 off of $50.00 spent. We wanted to give them another try and since we are a one income family due to this economy, the coupon was a blessing. Service was great and the food was fresh, but when we tried to use our coupon the manager refused it because we had partaken in the happy hour drink special of buy one glass of wine get one free. This made no sense since our drinks were above and beyond the $50.00 that we spent on food. Not only did they refuse our coupon, but management wouldn't speak to us...they had our server deliver the bad news, which put her in a bad position. What makes it ridiculous is if we had just ordered water our coupon would have been accepted. This is a case of BAD management unfortunately we will NEVER be back...especially when there is a great sushi restaurant right down the road and another one a few miles away (Amura). I don't see these guys making it for much longer. :(

I eat at Bayridge for the All you Can Eat Sushi every couple of weeks so I was excited when I got a mailer for a new option and with an expanded all you can eat menu. Not crazy about the $23.95 price but all you can eat is really the only way I eat sushi because when I got to regular sushi places I spend more and always leave hungry. One positive note was that they reduce their alcohol prices to normal levels if you order the AYCE so a glass of house swill was $3. I got in there at 8:30 on a Thursday and there were people at 4 or 5 tables. The expanded menu of udon, terriyaki, tempura, dumplings and fried rice seems enticing at first but you soon realize that they are clever ruses designed to fill you up on the cheap. We ordered two seaweed salads and some poor fried pork dumplings and things started to turn south fast. It took too long for these starters to come out and then our waitress disappeared. After finally getting her over we ordered a crazy roll and some nigiri. My first bite of nigiri was the deal killer, the rice was hard and cold and low grade and packed almost an inch high under the fish. The fish was slightly better than Chinese buffet quality. The roll was standard size with a higher rice to fish ratio than anyone would or should tolerate. The wasabi was an odd color and clearly not of high quality. I seriously considered cutting my losses and running for the door but I am not a thief and my waitress had disappeared again. By that time there were only two other people in the restaurant and I flagged down the manager to file a missing persons report on our waitress. He could see my fuse was about to blow and sent over a complimentary glass of wine. We wound up ordering some more but I was literally in fear; the order included a tuna crunch roll which quite possibly may have been the worst thing I have ever ordered in a sushi restaurant. The roll was over riced and the crunch resembled saw dust. Having to finish it in order to not get charged was a challenge more arduous than climbing Mt. Everest. Alas, the check came and the nightmare came to an end.

We came here for lunch when I was in a serious sushi craving mood. Unfortunately, the hostess had on so much scented body lotion that I could smell it all the way back in our seating which was sort of a appetite killer right off the start. We ordered 4 rolls, with one of them being our ubiquitous sushi yardstick ye olde spicy tuna roll. Which was not spicy...at all and rather flavorless to be honest. The avocado in all our rolls was perfectly ripe, the fish was reasonably fresh, but for the price and the amount of food served it was all in all just a meh experience. Yes the decor is nice, but the roll quality was on par with The Fresh Market's to go sushi.

It doesn't have all the hype that the other local favorite sushi place has, but honestly...the rolls are better here... and the prices are great. the staff is very nice, they will remember you which is great. it's got that home town feel to it, yet ti's still classy. whether it's for lunch or dinner, i've never been disappointed. the Lion King roll is my favorite, super tasty. Def check it out if you're in the area.

I've been here twice and we always order from the All You Can Eat Menu. What a deal!!! So many choices from salads, soups, usual appetizers, plenty of sushi options, teriyaki, tempura & fried rice. The portion size is just right in case you want to try everything! But make sure you leave room for the red bean ice cream...also included!!! The food was delicious & service was great! Good for what it is. Had dinner here last Saturday night. They have a pretty good happy hour until 7:00 everyday. We ordered a few appetizers and rolls from the happy hour menu and also entrees from the dinner menu. All in all everything was good. They also have an AYCE menu for around $24. You can order anything from this menu as many times as you like as long as you finish what you order. There were cold and hot apps, tempura, rice dishes, noodle dishes, sushi/sashimi ect. I will have to come back and try this sometime. Looks promising though. My one small complaint, the rice they use for sushi is not proper type, the grain was a bit longer than what i'm used to (jasmine rice maybe). I've seen this going on at a few other sushi places around town. Don't get me wrong, it was still good, but I could tell it was not proper. I would recommend Mikado, especially happy hour.

We went this past week for lunch, they have great specials with pricing to match. I go the steak Bento box and it was perfect. I have been here before as well, and the food is always delicious and fresh. The service was good, restaurant was clean and overall a great experience. Haven't had the chance to enjoy the 'AYCE' special but I have a feeling I will be back and tackle that soon :)

The price you pay for AYCE is unbeatable. I've been to a few AYCE sushi places in FL that I won't return to as the quality of fish was questionable at times. I've never questioned Mikado's quality and return time and time again here.

This place is lovely. So convenient and their sushi is awesome!! Our family is gluten free and Mikado always provides us with options. They're willing to alter any sushi roll to make it happen! They even have GF soy sauce. I also love how they send out coupons in the magazines. Try them!

The rolls were good, but the service was extremely slow and disjointed (although we did come at around 2:50 p.m. when it closes at 3 p.m., but I was still disappointed with the service). We really wanted to each sushi, so we looked up the nearest sushi place, not realizing that Mikado was about to close. They still let us in and seated us, so, although I felt kind of bad making people stay, I noticed that there were still some tables full. We wanted to start out with vegetable tempura, but the server informed us that the oil had already been changed out so it was impossible. That was fine, so we ended up ordering three rolls, the mango roll, the thai pham roll and a grilled lobster roll. The grilled lobster and the thai pham came at a reasonable rate and I enjoyed both of them. I was afraid the thai pham would be too spicy for me, but it had just the right amount of kick. (I really cannot tolerate almost any level of spice, so if you enjoy spicy food, this is not your roll). There were less pieces of sushi in the grilled lobster roll, but it was still good. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. We were told that they had to heat up the oil for the tempura shrimp in the mango roll. We wondered if they were heating up the oil for that, then could they have heated up the oil for the vegetable tempura? It was a little strange. Also, we would have been fine ordering another roll, if we knew that it would take forever to get the mango roll. When the mango roll finally came, I was not impressed. The mango sauce on it had a weird taste to it. I wouldn't order it again. Maybe if I come back at a more normal lunch hour I would give it 4 stars, but for the service and the disappointment of the mango roll I have to give it a 3.

All you can eat sushi is a great value! The food is excellent, the prices are good, and the staff is always very friendly. Some times the service can be very slow when the restaurant is full- we once sat next to a table that remained unbussed for about an hour, but when it's not a packed house, they're on top of it.

This is my Go to spot in Orlando. For lunch the bento boxes are great or the tuna 3 way! But in my mind Mikado shines with it's all you can eat deal. It is $23 per person. And if you love great quality sushi, You will definitely get your money's worth. A couple of my favorites is the salmon avocado salad, Kamikaze roll,Mikado roll, and of course tons of eel nigiri. Don't forget the red bean icecream! The service here is great every time I've come. I highly recommend Mikado!

Initiate sushi destruction in 3.....2....1! Umm, I just want to say I LOVE coming here for their AYCE sushi menu! For the low low price of $23.95, you get: made to order salad, assorted soups, kitchen appetizers, sushi, and ice cream. Yes, lots of awesome food for such a reasonable price. There's also an added bonus of discounted sake and beer on the ayce menu. My absolutely favorite roll to get is the tiger roll, rawr! It's assorted raw fish and avocado that's all wrapped up in soy paper. Of course if you don't want to get rolls then just fill up on selected nigiri and sashimi. Normally, I never make it to dessert, but last time I went I got to try a spoonful of my neighbors red bean ice cream. It was absolutely delicious with a surprising floral aftertaste! Oh, just a tip. Order what you want all at once. Service isn't consistent so you may or may not have to flag down your server for follow ups.

Great sushi, ambiance, and service. I would definitely give them a try as the quality is top notch and rivals that of Amura and Fishbones. I've always went to their other locations and this one is just as good! Definitely give them a try and especially try their mikado roll!

Vegetarians beware!!!! My boyfriend and I tried this sushi place twice and both times were disappointing. The first time we went, we specifically asked if the soups or entrees contained any fish. The server told us no, so we ordered them. They were ok, but later that night we both felt sick. We decided to give it one more chance. This time, when the server saw we only ordered vegetables and asked if we were vegetarian, we said yes, and she said that all the soups and entrees had fish and chicken in them!! Thanks a lot! No wonder we were sick last time. That other served must not have even asked what was in anything. So anyway, we ordered everything without the teriyaki sauce (which has chicken) and without fish sauce and bonito, all of which i guess they put on everything cooked. But this time everything tasted the same as last time and we were sick again! So either the kitchen is really dirty, or the chefs just didn't care that the server put a note that we were vegetarian. We will never be back. How hard is it to make a vegetable hobachi or yaki soba without any meat sauce?? And not to mention, we wanted the tempura, but it has eggs (even though that is NOT the traditional style) and their veggie 'garden' roll was far from it. The only difference between that and their aac roll was they added pickled daikon. if you're avoiding meat, DO NOT EAT HERE! Were sticking to shin and garden cafe from now on!

Usually, I swing by this place with my girlfriend. Love their foods and service. Lunch and Happy Hour make you happy. Also, they send a coupon in local areas, so do not miss it! Compared with Samurai Sushi, which is located in Lake Mary/Heathrow, both are so cool, cool, and cool :)

I have to start out by saying I come here about every two weeks, if not more often. I always get the sushi. As a creature of habit, typically pick from the same list of 4 or 5 rolls--but everything i have had has been delicious. They have a sushi happy hour that starts at 4 i believe, where they discount a lot of the what i call "simple rolls", such as California, Spicy Tuna, Philly roll, etc. I like to sit at the bar where they have a TV and the sushi chefs are very nice and talkative. I somehow manage to pick the times when they are less busy, but service still tends to be a little slow. Not slow enough to deter me though, I will continue to come back here.

Atmosphere ideal for a quiet and even classy dinner, alone or in company. The sushi bar is very busy, and it might take longer than usual time to get your order, but it is worth the wait: I had sushi the quality of which I encountered only in Tokyo, Singapore and San Francisco, fresh, dry aged, very well handled and prepared to order. The rice is stiky yet firm, without the excess sugar content you find usually in lesser joints in the area. Their great selection of both cold and warm sake is very inviting as well: the happy hour discounted price is also a nice addition. Quality wise alone it is worth a visit. The service is friendly and very up to their game: no complains there. They also offer an all-you-can-eat option, with a very clear policy of eating all you order or pay for the leftovers, which makes much sense. I'd almost give it a 5 star were it not for the time of execution of your order: given how busy it can become at night, I recommend to place the entirety of your order in one sitting as waiting time between order and serving on a busy night can vary between 15 to 25 minutes. I also recommend the following which I found of particular distinction: try the Sunomono, the Salmon/Avocado salad appetizer and the Volcano roll. I think this one has jumped the shark. I've been going since the week of the grand opening, and sadly have watched the service and quality decline. The sushi was beautiful and fresh with exceptionally gorgeous presentation at the beginning... now it's a bit blasé. And it's not as fresh. As a VIP card member (lol, I've been there... a lot) and an early adopter, I'm sad to shelve this lunch spot. It's just not as good as it was a few months ago all sparkly and new.

In the world of sushi we all have our favorites and our own take on the balance of sweet and vinegar, excess or simple, modern or traditional, and plain old flare for the exotic. It is no secret that I am a big sushi fan, further, Mikado Metrowest happens to satisfy my weakness. Although, I rank Shin Sushi well on the top of my list. I dined at Mikado Hunter's Creek a long time ago, so with the new Mikado Lake Mary, I was very thrilled to see if my favorite place could translate to another location. Not being very familiar with all of Lake Mary, I employed my trusty GPS. When the lovely soothing GPS voice announced "You have reached your destination." I was still looking around confused. Here I was in a Publix Supermarket Plaza going, huh? So I drove around. I got to the end of the plaza and was still, huh? Oh, I had to look up to see the sign. From Lake Mary Blvd, I saw a sign on this end of the plaza but could not recognize it. Something about the lighting and font of the sign rendered it as a spot on the big expansive wall. The entrance is on the side of the building facing N.Sun Dr.. Maybe it is a feng shui thing, of which I'll admit I am ignorant, forgive me please. But unless you are right up on the restaurant you can not see it. Oh well, I am here let's go in. Welcome to a very modern contemporary take on the more traditional Metrowest and Hunter's Creek location. The large sushi bar with brick backdrop welcome diners to interact. Dark woods and contrasting wall colors create a very stylish feel. There is a feature wall that boast a gentle display of curves, almost invoking a sense of fluidity. Dark furniture sits on large metallic brushed rectangular porcelain floor tiles to resemble a cozy comfort setting. The gorgeous soft brushed linen metallic rectangular porcelain tiles adorn the bathroom walls, bringing a sense of continuity from the dining room. Tall free flowing glass tubes highlight points of reference in the open dining room. This very stark low lit canvas is a perfect backdrop for showcasing wonderful food. The menu here has a couple of additions that the other locations does not have. The big addition is "Weekend All You Can Eat Sushi($23.95)"! There is a large combination of regular rolls and a few complicated rolls, for a fixed price. Anyone ready for a sushi throw down? "Rules: no sharing unless they are all you can eat patrons, no taking home. We suggest you don't order more than you can eat, please be advised that uneaten food will be charged to your bill: $1.25 per pc. sushi (including rice), $1.50 per pc. sashimi, $0.75 per pc. roll. Any kitchen food must be finished before ordering more." (as shown in menu picture above). Any wavering of the rule you will be spanked and sent to the corner! Really? Why shouldn't you just go to an "All you can eat buffet", eat what you want and throw the rest away, rather than be subjected to the spanking? While we were going over the menu and discussing what to order, the manager walked over and suggested we order "All you can eat". Whatever made him feel like we wanted a spanking for not finishing our food? This location has Hibachi, the popular flat top Japanese cooking method. Unfortunately, there is no magic fancy chef show as the hibachi grills are in the kitchen. But, the amazing "white shrimp sauce" is there. Squid salad with supposedly a sprinkling of seaweed salad. The menu reads: Squid Salad Julienne cut, marinated squid w. ginger, black mushroom, bamboo shoots $5.95. The server said that there was cucumber at the bottom and she would replace the cucumber with my request for a sprinkling of seaweed. Sounds great, since I love this combination. Oops, someone forgot to mention that there was a $3.00 upcharge! Here is an inside secret, squid and seaweed salad is sourced from a vendor in a box. Some restaurants add different items to stand out. Using cucumbers as a base for squid salad to make it appear as a larger portion is not quite what I expected. Even further, replacing the cucumber and upcharging $3.00 without telling me is adding insult to injury. Miscommunication from my server? Maybe. It is certainly not about $3.00, it is more of the principle. I am going to reiterate, did I mention I like Mikado Metrowest? I thought so. Sashimi - Smoked salmon, mackerel, toro. Toro has a refrigerated life of maybe two days, three is pushing it. I understand not having this highly perishable item available when there is no market. The Toro was still cold and watery in the middle. While I appreciate the chef's attempt of serving all sashimi at the same time, I would have been okay had someone communicated that it would take an extra minute rather than serve me icicle. Maybe I am accustomed to having my mackerel with grated ginger, but that was missing. Smoked salmon was spot on. Nigiri - Tuna and salmon. Both fish texture and flavors were okay. The rice was a little on the sweet side for

I eat at Bayridge for the All you Can Eat Sushi every couple of weeks so I was excited when I got a mailer for a new option and with an expanded all you can eat menu. Not crazy about the $23.95 price but all you can eat is really the only way I eat sushi because when I got to regular sushi places I spend more and always leave hungry. One positive note was that they reduce their alcohol prices to normal levels if you order the AYCE so a glass of house swill was $3. I got in there at 8:30 on a Thursday and there were people at 4 or 5 tables. The expanded menu of udon, terriyaki, tempura, dumplings and fried rice seems enticing at first but you soon realize that they are clever ruses designed to fill you up on the cheap. We ordered two seaweed salads and some poor fried pork dumplings and things started to turn south fast. It took too long for these starters to come out and then our waitress disappeared. After finally getting her over we ordered a crazy roll and some nigiri. My first bite of nigiri was the deal killer, the rice was hard and cold and low grade and packed almost an inch high under the fish. The fish was slightly better than Chinese buffet quality. The roll was standard size with a higher rice to fish ratio than anyone would or should tolerate. The wasabi was an odd color and clearly not of high quality. I seriously considered cutting my losses and running for the door but I am not a thief and my waitress had disappeared again. By that time there were only two other people in the restaurant and I flagged down the manager to file a missing persons report on our waitress. He could see my fuse was about to blow and sent over a complimentary glass of wine. We wound up ordering some more but I was literally in fear; the order included a tuna crunch roll which quite possibly may have been the worst thing I have ever ordered in a sushi restaurant. The roll was over riced and the crunch resembled saw dust. Having to finish it in order to not get charged was a challenge more arduous than climbing Mt. Everest. Alas, the check came and the nightmare came to an end.

Unfortunately, the hostess had on so much scented body lotion that I could smell it all the way back in our seating which was sort of a appetite killer right off the start. We ordered 4 rolls, with one of them being our ubiquitous sushi yardstick ye olde spicy tuna roll. Which was not spicy...at all and rather flavorless to be honest. The avocado in all our rolls was perfectly ripe, the fish was reasonably fresh, but for the price and the amount of food served it was all in all just a meh experience. Yes the decor is nice, but the roll quality was on par with The Fresh Market's to go sushi.

It doesn't have all the hype that the other local favorite sushi place has, but honestly...the rolls are better here... and the prices are great. the staff is very nice, they will remember you which is great. it's got that home town feel to it, yet ti's still classy. whether it's for lunch or dinner, i've never been disappointed. the Lion King roll is my favorite, super tasty. Def check it out if you're in the area.

Seems by the look of the reviews, we are not the first patrons to receive REALLY AWFUL SERVICE at Mikado Lake Mary. We arrived at the restaurant at about 6:30pm. My husband wasn't too hungry, so he just ordered a hand roll and one uni sushi. My son and I got the all you can eat special, since we wanted appetizers and he definately wanted ice cream for dessert. We ordered soup and salad, a sushi appetizer, a couple pieces of sushi and two rolls. We got our soup after about 15 minutes...we figured maybe things were a little busy, but come on, 15 minutes for miso soup??? Then another 15 minutes later we got the salad. Just a green salad with some avocado on top. 30 seconds max prep time. Okay, so then about 10 minutes later the waitress brings the shrimp appetizer and tells us the sushi bar was running a bit slow, so we might want to order some kitchen food in the meantime. (Keep in mind these stingy dopes charge you $25 for all you can eat but will spank you for not finishing by charging you for everything you leave on your plate a la carte!!!) So I'm more than a little hesitant to order anything else. We wound up finally getting our sushi after an HOUR. I was so over it I couldn't even eat. My husband complained to the waitress several times during our wait, and then had to ask to speak to the manager. The manager finally came over and after my husband shared the fact that we were sorely disappointed with the service, offered to take 20% off our check. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I told him the only way I would consider coming back to give them another chance would be if they comp'ed our meal and gave us a coupon to give them another try. All he did was say he couldn't do that and made excuses about having a large party that was slowing things down. Excuse me, but doesn't the large party take up the same amount of time that five individual tables takes? And they shouldn't slow the sushi bar to a crawl. I left the restaurant with our son to wait in the car while my husband negotiated the check, and he reported to me that after I left, he finally got the manager to take my meal and my son's off the check, and he wound up paying for his sushi and the drinks ( a hot tea and a lemonade). The "hostess", a bratty little wench told my husband that he should "get over it". He told her she didn't have the right to speak to him that way, and that as the customer she should address him as "sir". She infomed him that she didn't call anyone "sir" and he should "get a life".....she did all of this while standing right next to the "manager"....my husband asked him if she was the best he could do for a "hostess" and did he really think it was appropriate for her to be the face of his restaurant??? My husband said she should be fired immediately and she just rolled her eyes. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT. IN FACT, I'VE LOST MY APPETITE COMPLETELY FOR DINING OUT AND WILL MOST LIKELY NOT GO OUT TO EAT AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE. STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE...OH BY THE WAY, THE FOOD WAS MARGINAL TO BOOT! P.S. We went to Orange Leaf Yogurt afterwards so that my son could have his ice cream!!! He says "YUM!" gummy bears!!! not hard to please....

Went 10 minutes before ladies night and they were not willing to budge for the discount for us...not a big deal, but we thought that was weird. Our tuna appetizer was great although our sushi came out right after. The server was good about checking on us and getting what ever we needed. The sushi was well prepared and tasted good. We live right around the corner from Mikado and have been there twice since they opened last year and found it to be a little overpriced. We typically go to Samurai (1 mile down the road from Mikado) because they offer great happy hour drink and sushi specials and service is always great. We recently received a coupon in the mail from Mikado for $10.00 off of $50.00 spent. We wanted to give them another try and since we are a one income family due to this economy, the coupon was a blessing. Service was great and the food was fresh, but when we tried to use our coupon the manager refused it because we had partaken in the happy hour drink special of buy one glass of wine get one free. This made no sense since our drinks were above and beyond the $50.00 that we spent on food. Not only did they refuse our coupon, but management wouldn't speak to us...they had our server deliver the bad news, which put her in a bad position. What makes it ridiculous is if we had just ordered water our coupon would have been accepted. This is a case of BAD management unfortunately we will NEVER be back...especially when there is a great sushi restaurant right down the road and another one a few miles away (Amura). I don't see these guys making it for much longer. :(

I'm eating lunch as we speak. Presentation is fantastic & the sushi is very reasonably priced for lunch specials. We moved to the Longwood/Lake Mary area a year ago & I'm finding hidden gems. I am a huge sushi lover! I come here at least twice a month. I get a salmon roll and shrimp tempura roll. both are always delicious. The servers are friendly and the food comes out fast. There is also rarely a wait which is so nice. I would suggest giving it a try!

Good for what it is. Had dinner here last Saturday night. They have a pretty good happy hour until 7:00 everyday. We ordered a few appetizers and rolls from the happy hour menu and also entrees from the dinner menu. All in all everything was good. They also have an AYCE menu for around $24. You can order anything from this menu as many times as you like as long as you finish what you order. There were cold and hot apps, tempura, rice dishes, noodle dishes, sushi/sashimi ect. I will have to come back and try this sometime. Looks promising though. My one small complaint, the rice they use for sushi is not proper type, the grain was a bit longer than what i'm used to (jasmine rice maybe). I've seen this going on at a few other sushi places around town. Don't get me wrong, it was still good, but I could tell it was not proper. I would recommend Mikado, especially happy hour.

Sushi was fantastic! We were seated immediately and the waitress was at our table promptly. Drinks came out within two minutes of the time we ordered them; including alcohol. The sushi is average at best-- your typical selection of fish and edible quality. Sadly, my favorite part of dinner was the Sapporo beer.... Service was ridiculously poor. Neither the manager nor the owner were present. When worker called to see about our situation, the manager told the worker not to call because "when he not there he not working." They have absolutely no sense of hospitality etiquette in the restaurant business. ALL IN ALL: If you want high priced-average sushi with poor service, Mikados is the place for you.

The price you pay for AYCE is unbeatable. I've been to a few AYCE sushi places in FL that I won't return to as the quality of fish was questionable at times. I've never questioned Mikado's quality and return time and time again here.

Oh my gosh, Mikado! When I'm in a deep sushi craving and I cannot be satisfied by just ONE roll, I call up my bestie, tell her to skip lunch, and meet me at Mikado's for a sushi dinner extravaganza! For $25 you can have all you can eat select appetizers, soups, noodles, sushi rolls, sashimi, and dessert! Now, if you're a sushi enthusiast, like me, you know that you can EASILY spend $25 on an app and roll alone. Sometimes you can possibly swing splitting a dessert in the mix, but never much more. The price is just the icing on the cake of delicious, fresh food, and impeccable service. If you're wondering if the roll selection is just variations of a California roll, think again! The list is varied and long! Yellowtail is always my favorite and their spicy yellowtail roll is to die for. You can see pictures of my last sushi fest below... don't judge.

I've reviewed this place before and I absolutely love their food, but unfortunately the service has gotten so bad that I'll never get a chance to eat it again. We just walked out after sitting at a table for 15 minutes and no one ever took our drink order. They've lost me, I'm not going back. Luckily I found a recipe online for crab & asparagus soup that is as good as theirs. I'll just be making it myself now.

What can I say? We LOVE the sushi here! It's better than Amura, IMO, and some friends of ours who love Amuras changed their tune once they came here with us. The portions are great, the price is right... The atmosphere is nice! Not the kind of place I'd bring my kids though. It's more of a date night spot. The only weird thing is their all you can eat deal. It's like $25 and you can eat all the sushi you want, but if you don't finish what you order, you have to pay (yes, pay) about .25- .50 a roll. That's kind of lame. Although I suppose that stops people from wasting food. Who knows. Just go and don't be a glutton. Haha! The Mexican roll, magic roll, Godzilla roll, and shrimp tempura roll are bomb.

Every time my family comes to Florida we make sure to stop here at least once. The all you can eat is amazing! The sushi is fresh and the other dishes are great too! I'm not sure why people are saying service is horrible but I've never had bad service here. Maybe they just don't know how to order. Not the best sushi I ever had, but definitely not the worst. My husband works up in Lake Mary, and I decided to meet up with him for lunch one afternoon. We both got the lunch special, which included salad/soup and two basic rolls of your choosing for $9. Not a bad price. We both opted for salad, which was a huge portion. Typical half-frozen iceberg lettuce with thick ginger dressing. It was good. I ordered the spicy crunchy salmon roll and shrimp tempura roll. My husband ordered the crunch roll and the spicy crunchy salmon roll. They were all good. Our service was fast, which is very much appreciated when you're on your lunch hour. For so many positive reviews, I was surprised how empty this place was! Overall I would come back for lunch. Sushi was fresh and reasonably priced, and service was good.

Sushi AYCE was decent and the menu is rather extensive. I'd recommend most of their offerings except for the tuna sushi. The tempuras (which actually should be renamed to Panko) are average. Service can be very slow at times and be wary of the bespectacled asian waitress who can be rude and pushy. No problem with the rest of the wait staff. Their sashimi AYCE is the only reason why I will head back.

The portions were tiny for the price. We were hungry a couple hours later. This would've been okay if I was dieting, but I'm not. I had the shrimp tempura bento box, which had the most amount of food among all the orders. Tempura was nothing special and I was mildly amused by the fact that I only had 2 shrimp tempura. Colleagues had teriyaki and noodles, which were okay, just not enough. Apparently sushi specials are the way to go here. Too bad I was so unimpressed that I didn't really want to go back.

Not up to par, sadly I had high hopes for this place. I'm not much of a roll person but ever since my boyfriend moved to Florida AYCE sushi is non-existing. We ordered 3 rolls, a sashimi special, and 1 desert. Roll #1 Banzai Tree: 0/5 Tuna, yellowtail, krabmeat, avocado & tobiko rolled w. thinly sliced of cucumber, served w. lime ponzu sauce. I guess I wanted refreshing but not THAT refreshing. This roll was wrapped in a cucumber shell. Honestly I think this roll would've tasted great if it had rice. lol Roll #2 Yummy Roll 4/5 King crab, seaweed salad, spicy mayo rolled w. tempura flakes, laced w. tuna, salmon, whitefish & shrimp. This roll was pretty decent but I found the roll rather small. Roll #3 Lemon Oyster Roll 3/5 Fried oyster, masago, scallion, spicy sauce w. rice seasoning & slice lemon on top. Wanted to try something interesting. This roll had slices of lemon on top of it. It added a nice balance with the fried oyster if you eat the zest (lemon skin). But again I found this roll rather small. Portion sizes were definitely small. Sashimi Lunch special: 0/5 comes with I believe 10-12 slices of sashimi. I was excited because I usually just eat sashimi or nigiri. But the fish wasn't very fresh. It came with salmon, tuna, Yellow tail, and some other fish that tasted like dirt. Super icky.

I love the AYCE menu! It's a great deal for your money lol. Went based on reviews and it was surprisingly delicious. Sushi was fresh and not at all like those buffet places (yuck). I believe I had about a total of 3 or 4 rolls, 2 pieces of nigiri, 2 appetizers, and chocolate ice cream. Yup, I know I slept well that night. Anyway, it's a nice restaurant and I know I'll be back for the occasional sushi feast.

This is my Go to spot in Orlando. For lunch the bento boxes are great or the tuna 3 way! But in my mind Mikado shines with it's all you can eat deal. It is $23 per person. And if you love great quality sushi, You will definitely get your money's worth. A couple of my favorites is the salmon avocado salad, Kamikaze roll,Mikado roll, and of course tons of eel nigiri. Don't forget the red bean icecream! The service here is great every time I've come. I highly recommend Mikado!

I did not get one thing that was not absolutely perfect and awesome. My fiance would have preferred a full liquor bar as opposed to just wine, beer and sake but our group of five loved everything!

The rolls were good, but the service was extremely slow and disjointed (although we did come at around 2:50 p.m. when it closes at 3 p.m., but I was still disappointed with the service). We really wanted to each sushi, so we looked up the nearest sushi place, not realizing that Mikado was about to close. They still let us in and seated us, so, although I felt kind of bad making people stay, I noticed that there were still some tables full. We wanted to start out with vegetable tempura, but the server informed us that the oil had already been changed out so it was impossible. That was fine, so we ended up ordering three rolls, the mango roll, the thai pham roll and a grilled lobster roll. The grilled lobster and the thai pham came at a reasonable rate and I enjoyed both of them. I was afraid the thai pham would be too spicy for me, but it had just the right amount of kick. (I really cannot tolerate almost any level of spice, so if you enjoy spicy food, this is not your roll). There were less pieces of sushi in the grilled lobster roll, but it was still good. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. We were told that they had to heat up the oil for the tempura shrimp in the mango roll. We wondered if they were heating up the oil for that, then could they have heated up the oil for the vegetable tempura? It was a little strange. Also, we would have been fine ordering another roll, if we knew that it would take forever to get the mango roll. When the mango roll finally came, I was not impressed. The mango sauce on it had a weird taste to it. I wouldn't order it again. Maybe if I come back at a more normal lunch hour I would give it 4 stars, but for the service and the disappointment of the mango roll I have to give it a 3.

I visited Orlando on the weekend. A friend recommended this place. We went in a group of 6. The place was big. It was clean. It looked nice. We were greeted by the host. We all decided to go for their AYCE (all you can eat) menu. The all you can eat menu had a very large selection. From soups, to salads, fried foods, fried rice, specialty rolls. They had it all. Everything I ordered was very good, the quality does not go down just because its from the AYCE menu. Hot sake was good. Our server Jenny was very kind and did a great job handling all the orders. $23 bucks for the AYCE Menu, but that was a steal in comparison to what I ate. Next time Im around Ill make sure to visit.

My boyfriend and I had heard good things about Mikado through word of mouth. So, we were accompanied by another couple for dinner here. At Mikado, they offer an all-you-can-eat option along with their regular menu which includes many of their kitchen appetizers, limited kitchen lunch/dinner, sashimi, nigiri, classic sushi rolls, signature sushi rolls, and dessert. I was surprised to see that they offered sashimi with their all-you-can-eat as it's hard to find restaurants that do. They have a lot more to choose from than the menu they have on their website. I had a couple of their signature rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and some shrimp tempura (from the kitchen). While going town on all my dinner, I did take the fact that it was an "all-you-can-eat" into deep consideration when critiquing the food. All the fish they used for their sushi seemed fresh. I've actually encountered in my past experiences some sushi that were less fresh at a NON all-you-can-eat restaurants. In comparison, one of their competitors, Bayridge Sushi Restaurant (which I have written a review on) offer an all-you-can-eat option at a cheaper price. However, the amount of rice they put in their nigiris and sushi rolls are ridiculous. Mikado, on the other hand, clearly aren't trying to mislead their customers with their all-you-can-eat. The shrimp tempura I had was one of the best ones yet. The breading was nice and crispy and it was easy to spot that they weren't using old oil to deep fry in. Little note: their seaweed salad has a bedding of cucumers. The seaweed salad was excellent. The cucumers? Tasteless. So, feel free to ask for it without as I have learned to do. Also, if you like a nice glass (or two) of wine or some sake with your meal, try their lychee sake. It's a cold sake (served in a wine glass) that's good a great amount of sweetness to it. *They offer happy hours on a lot of their items (alcohol, appetizers, sushi rolls, etc) between 4-7 (don't quote me on the hours)* Onto their service.. We had a small asian lady as our server. Her english seemed limited but that didn't stop her from going that extra mile to offer us certain items and to answer the questions we had. Noting that we all had the all-you-can-eat, we were ordering a few items at a time which meant for the server to be on her toes the whole time. She didn't show a hint of annoyance at that which we were really appreciative for. We will definitely be back for the food and for the service !

Tonight was amazing. We had a fresh scallop that was amazing, sweet shrimp, make sure you eat the heads, striped bass and a various rolls. Great taste, service and presentation. Friday night they get special items like live scallops and uni.

I've been twice and both experiences were with sushi. I have no complaints about their sushi or service. It may be a dollar or two higher than what you may expect, but the freshness of the fish makes you forget about that. My last visit I had the Las Vegas Roll: Spicy yellowtail, avocado, asparagus rolled w. tuna, salmon & trio tobiko on top drizzed w. wasabi mayo & spicy sauce. Just enough spice and it looked great. This place is kind of a hidden gem as well. its off of Lake Mary blvd next to TJ Maxx. if you aren't looking for it, you'll miss it. Stop in and give them a chance, you won't be disappointed.

I went here with a group of friends after hearing how great their happy hour specials are. At $4 a roll, with hot apps as well, I was excited to dig in, but as soon as the food arrived, I changed my mind. The tempura shrimp roll was so huge I had to bite the sushi pieces in half, and it turned into a mess. The spicy tuna tasted like tuna from a can. The Edamame was okay, but by this point, I had totally lost my appetite. After one bite of that tuna roll, I passed it off to a friend. The staff were all super friendly and nice, they kept our drinks filled, and the drink prices were great! If they could bring their food up a notch, this would be a great place for dinner in Lake Mary. Unfortunately, as it is, I won't be going back.

I highly recommend the Tuna Vase (avocado and chunks of sesame tuna). Its not on the menu but one of the reasons I'd come back to Mikado. The sushi is fresh, the sake is hot, and service is good. You're better off getting a table if you're used to sitting at the sushi bar like me. The sushi chefs aren't very interactive half of them have a hard time understanding English.

So this should have been a 3-star review. Service really made it a great experience. So let's take it from the top. I was looking for a good AYCE sushi place around Orlando to take the family and was amazed at the lack of them! I found Mikado Japanese Cuisine in the north side of town, it had decent reviews and had an all-you-can-eat deal for $25. Arriving at this place, it looked nice, the decor was casual but elegant and the vibe was ok. Some of us did the AYCE while others ordered off the regular menu. This is where they almost get 3 stars. The AYCE selection was quite limited and the rolls were a bit small and a heavy on the rice. The regular items were neatly presented and, according to those dining with us, all were tasty and the portions were generous. Service is where they definitely won me over. Our waitress was Japanese and had limited english, but this did not stop her from going over the top and make sure we were all very well taken care of. She had an upbeat attitude and a great smile on her face, did her very best to offer suggestions and specials, and even tried speaking a little bit of spanish to my uncle (who does not speak english) and made him feel very welcomed. This was my family's first time eating Japanese food and walked away very pleased Thank you ver much for having an amazing staff. Try to take the restrictions off the AYCE menu!

Love this place. I have been looking for a good sushi place in central fl for awhile and this is the spot. The lunch special is perfect with a decent choice of rolls. I get the philly, cali, and boston roll. Sushi is always fresh with a good presentation. The atmosphere is good the service is good. I went once to the all you can eat and I didnt get my money's worth but they have amazing choices of rolls n it is really a good deal if you can eat. If your in the lake mary area you gotta check it out.

If you asked me about this place before yesterday, I would have given it two stars and let you know I would not go back.... I received an advertisement flyer that included a daily sushi happy hour 4-7 - thought we gotta check it out... Ordered half the items off of the happy hour menu with some trepidation but we were hungry! The rolls on the list were $4 each order and appetizers for $3.50 a plate. The roles are awesome! Not over-ladened with heavy rice and had good flavor. Ingredients were fresh. The nori was a bit chewy but this I can overlook. The shrimp tempura roll, we ordered more! It was tasty, the shrimp still warm out of the fryer! The chicken yakitori was well cooked and had decent flavor, have to eat the lemon wedges with them to balance the semi-decent teriyaki sauce. We ordered an entre of donkatsu which came with soup, salad, and rice - this is something we'd order again. Overall, experience was great. We'd def go back for the happy hour ONLY. During regular hours, food is overpriced for what it offers. The bento boxes are wayyyy overpriced. Would come here over AMURAs in Towne Park fo'sho. Decor - what's with the random shiny sticks protruding from the table backboards?

Tasty sushi at a good price. Go for lunch. The lunch specials I got was $8.95 for two rolls and a soup or salad. Shrimp Tempura Roll and a Spicy Tuna Roll. Salad was good but miso soup okay. They are a bit slow. I've gone with a party of two and as a party of three and all meals were delivered staggered. The place is very clean. The waitresses have been awesome about drink refills. It is really a good lunch value for some tasty sushi.

Always good, and always a good price! I admit I am not a huge sushi fan, but every now and again I am in the mood for some sushi, so I go to Mikado. I almost always go at lunch, and the lung specials are an excellent value - $11.99 for 3 rolls, plus soup or salad. Everything tastes fresh and is done to my picky standards (no veggies!) and I usually get the same waitress who knows my order, even though I only go once or twice a month. All in all a good lunch. It beats choking down a burger and fries and its not that much more! Service is fast as well. Go and have a good time!

I went for dinner, and I was pleasantly surprised by the happy hour specials: appetizers and few select rolls for $4. I ordered few rolls, of note the Sandwich roll: it was perfectly made, creative assortment of fish and generous portion. I also ordered the Sunomono for appetizer: clean, fresh and deliciously sliced thin fish. I would have given Mikado 5 stars if they only served the rolls with a bit less rice. Other than that, I was very satisfied with food quality, service and the fair prices.

I eat at Bayridge for the All you Can Eat Sushi every couple of weeks so I was excited when I got a mailer for a new option and with an expanded all you can eat menu. Not crazy about the $23.95 price but all you can eat is really the only way I eat sushi because when I got to regular sushi places I spend more and always leave hungry. One positive note was that they reduce their alcohol prices to normal levels if you order the AYCE so a glass of house swill was $3. I got in there at 8:30 on a Thursday and there were people at 4 or 5 tables. The expanded menu of udon, terriyaki, tempura, dumplings and fried rice seems enticing at first but you soon realize that they are clever ruses designed to fill you up on the cheap. We ordered two seaweed salads and some poor fried pork dumplings and things started to turn south fast. It took too long for these starters to come out and then our waitress disappeared. After finally getting her over we ordered a crazy roll and some nigiri. My first bite of nigiri was the deal killer, the rice was hard and cold and low grade and packed almost an inch high under the fish. The fish was slightly better than Chinese buffet quality. The roll was standard size with a higher rice to fish ratio than anyone would or should tolerate. The wasabi was an odd color and clearly not of high quality. I seriously considered cutting my losses and running for the door but I am not a thief and my waitress had disappeared again. By that time there were only two other people in the restaurant and I flagged down the manager to file a missing persons report on our waitress. He could see my fuse was about to blow and sent over a complimentary glass of wine. We wound up ordering some more but I was literally in fear; the order included a tuna crunch roll which quite possibly may have been the worst thing I have ever ordered in a sushi restaurant. The roll was over riced and the crunch resembled saw dust. Having to finish it in order to not get charged was a challenge more arduous than climbing Mt. Everest. Alas, the check came and the nightmare came to an end.

Unfortunately, the hostess had on so much scented body lotion that I could smell it all the way back in our seating which was sort of a appetite killer right off the start. We ordered 4 rolls, with one of them being our ubiquitous sushi yardstick ye olde spicy tuna roll. Which was not spicy...at all and rather flavorless to be honest. The avocado in all our rolls was perfectly ripe, the fish was reasonably fresh, but for the price and the amount of food served it was all in all just a meh experience. Yes the decor is nice, but the roll quality was on par with The Fresh Market's to go sushi.

We live right around the corner from Mikado and have been there twice since they opened last year and found it to be a little overpriced. We typically go to Samurai (1 mile down the road from Mikado) because they offer great happy hour drink and sushi specials and service is always great. We recently received a coupon in the mail from Mikado for $10.00 off of $50.00 spent. We wanted to give them another try and since we are a one income family due to this economy, the coupon was a blessing. Service was great and the food was fresh, but when we tried to use our coupon the manager refused it because we had partaken in the happy hour drink special of buy one glass of wine get one free. This made no sense since our drinks were above and beyond the $50.00 that we spent on food. Not only did they refuse our coupon, but management wouldn't speak to us...they had our server deliver the bad news, which put her in a bad position. What makes it ridiculous is if we had just ordered water our coupon would have been accepted. This is a case of BAD management unfortunately we will NEVER be back...especially when there is a great sushi restaurant right down the road and another one a few miles away (Amura). I don't see these guys making it for much longer. :(

This place is lovely. So convenient and their sushi is awesome!! Our family is gluten free and Mikado always provides us with options. They're willing to alter any sushi roll to make it happen! They even have GF soy sauce. I also love how they send out coupons in the magazines. Try them!

Initiate sushi destruction in 3.....2....1! Umm, I just want to say I LOVE coming here for their AYCE sushi menu! For the low low price of $23.95, you get: made to order salad, assorted soups, kitchen appetizers, sushi, and ice cream. Yes, lots of awesome food for such a reasonable price. There's also an added bonus of discounted sake and beer on the ayce menu. My absolutely favorite roll to get is the tiger roll, rawr! It's assorted raw fish and avocado that's all wrapped up in soy paper. Of course if you don't want to get rolls then just fill up on selected nigiri and sashimi. Normally, I never make it to dessert, but last time I went I got to try a spoonful of my neighbors red bean ice cream. It was absolutely delicious with a surprising floral aftertaste! Oh, just a tip. Order what you want all at once. Service isn't consistent so you may or may not have to flag down your server for follow ups.

It doesn't have all the hype that the other local favorite sushi place has, but honestly...the rolls are better here... and the prices are great. the staff is very nice, they will remember you which is great. it's got that home town feel to it, yet ti's still classy. whether it's for lunch or dinner, i've never been disappointed. the Lion King roll is my favorite, super tasty. Def check it out if you're in the area.

Seems by the look of the reviews, we are not the first patrons to receive REALLY AWFUL SERVICE at Mikado Lake Mary. We arrived at the restaurant at about 6:30pm. My husband wasn't too hungry, so he just ordered a hand roll and one uni sushi. My son and I got the all you can eat special, since we wanted appetizers and he definately wanted ice cream for dessert. We ordered soup and salad, a sushi appetizer, a couple pieces of sushi and two rolls. We got our soup after about 15 minutes...we figured maybe things were a little busy, but come on, 15 minutes for miso soup??? Then another 15 minutes later we got the salad. Just a green salad with some avocado on top. 30 seconds max prep time. Okay, so then about 10 minutes later the waitress brings the shrimp appetizer and tells us the sushi bar was running a bit slow, so we might want to order some kitchen food in the meantime. (Keep in mind these stingy dopes charge you $25 for all you can eat but will spank you for not finishing by charging you for everything you leave on your plate a la carte!!!) So I'm more than a little hesitant to order anything else. We wound up finally getting our sushi after an HOUR. I was so over it I couldn't even eat. My husband complained to the waitress several times during our wait, and then had to ask to speak to the manager. The manager finally came over and after my husband shared the fact that we were sorely disappointed with the service, offered to take 20% off our check. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I told him the only way I would consider coming back to give them another chance would be if they comp'ed our meal and gave us a coupon to give them another try. All he did was say he couldn't do that and made excuses about having a large party that was slowing things down. Excuse me, but doesn't the large party take up the same amount of time that five individual tables takes? And they shouldn't slow the sushi bar to a crawl. I left the restaurant with our son to wait in the car while my husband negotiated the check, and he reported to me that after I left, he finally got the manager to take my meal and my son's off the check, and he wound up paying for his sushi and the drinks ( a hot tea and a lemonade). The "hostess", a bratty little wench told my husband that he should "get over it". He told her she didn't have the right to speak to him that way, and that as the customer she should address him as "sir". She infomed him that she didn't call anyone "sir" and he should "get a life".....she did all of this while standing right next to the "manager"....my husband asked him if she was the best he could do for a "hostess" and did he really think it was appropriate for her to be the face of his restaurant??? My husband said she should be fired immediately and she just rolled her eyes. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT. IN FACT, I'VE LOST MY APPETITE COMPLETELY FOR DINING OUT AND WILL MOST LIKELY NOT GO OUT TO EAT AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE. STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE...OH BY THE WAY, THE FOOD WAS MARGINAL TO BOOT! P.S. We went to Orange Leaf Yogurt afterwards so that my son could have his ice cream!!! Went 10 minutes before ladies night and they were not willing to budge for the discount for us...not a big deal, but we thought that was weird. Our tuna appetizer was great although our sushi came out right after. The server was good about checking on us and getting what ever we needed. The sushi was well prepared and tasted good. Nothing special regarding the sushi, although, nothing bad either. The major downfall was the male host kept pacing in front of our table, and commenting every time. He was making our whole table very uncomfortable. Due to his behavior, we will NOT be returning.

The all you can eat is wonderful! You order items off a menu so they come fresh. The snapper appetizer is a must! One of the only AYCE sushi places that allows you to order sashimi by the slice. Every time I'm in town I look forward to my visit here. Can't wait to get back here.

I've been here twice and we always order from the All You Can Eat Menu. What a deal!!! So many choices from salads, soups, usual appetizers, plenty of sushi options, teriyaki, tempura & fried rice. The portion size is just right in case you want to try everything! But make sure you leave room for the red bean ice cream...also included!!! The food was delicious & service was great! Not from here, but a must when I visit!

I am a huge sushi lover! I come here at least twice a month. I get a salmon roll and shrimp tempura roll. both are always delicious. The servers are friendly and the food comes out fast. There is also rarely a wait which is so nice. I would suggest giving it a try!

Good for what it is. Had dinner here last Saturday night. They have a pretty good happy hour until 7:00 everyday. We ordered a few appetizers and rolls from the happy hour menu and also entrees from the dinner menu. All in all everything was good. They also have an AYCE menu for around $24. You can order anything from this menu as many times as you like as long as you finish what you order. There were cold and hot apps, tempura, rice dishes, noodle dishes, sushi/sashimi ect. I will have to come back and try this sometime. Looks promising though. My one small complaint, the rice they use for sushi is not proper type, the grain was a bit longer than what i'm used to (jasmine rice maybe). I've seen this going on at a few other sushi places around town. Don't get me wrong, it was still good, but I could tell it was not proper. I would recommend Mikado, especially happy hour.

Let me say this is the first review I have ever done. With that being said I LOVE THIS PLACE! haven't been here before but will be returning, the sushi was very good and even though the service was a little slow the waitress we had made up for it she was hott! We went this past week for lunch, they have great specials with pricing to match. I go the steak Bento box and it was perfect. I have been here before as well, and the food is always delicious and fresh. The service was good, restaurant was clean and overall a great experience. Haven't had the chance to enjoy the 'AYCE' special but I have a feeling I will be back and tackle that soon :)

The price you pay for AYCE is unbeatable. I've been to a few AYCE sushi places in FL that I won't return to as the quality of fish was questionable at times. I've never questioned Mikado's quality and return time and time again here.

The sushi is average at best-- your typical selection of fish and edible quality. Sadly, my favorite part of dinner was the Sapporo beer.... Service was ridiculously poor. Neither the manager nor the owner were present. When worker called to see about our situation, the manager told the worker not to call because "when he not there he not working." They have absolutely no sense of hospitality etiquette in the restaurant business. ALL IN ALL: If you want high priced-average sushi with poor service, Mikados is the place for you.

Oh my gosh, Mikado! When I'm in a deep sushi craving and I cannot be satisfied by just ONE roll, I call up my bestie, tell her to skip lunch, and meet me at Mikado's for a sushi dinner extravaganza! For $25 you can have all you can eat select appetizers, soups, noodles, sushi rolls, sashimi, and dessert! Now, if you're a sushi enthusiast, like me, you know that you can EASILY spend $25 on an app and roll alone. Sometimes you can possibly swing splitting a dessert in the mix, but never much more. The price is just the icing on the cake of delicious, fresh food, and impeccable service. If you're wondering if the roll selection is just variations of a California roll, think again! The list is varied and long! Yellowtail is always my favorite and their spicy yellowtail roll is to die for. You can see pictures of my last sushi fest below... don't judge.

Tasty sushi at a good price. Go for lunch. The lunch specials I got was $8.95 for two rolls and a soup or salad. Shrimp Tempura Roll and a Spicy Tuna Roll. Salad was good but miso soup okay. They are a bit slow. I've gone with a party of two and as a party of three and all meals were delivered staggered. The place is very clean. The waitresses have been awesome about drink refills. It is really a good lunch value for some tasty sushi.

Always good, and always a good price! I admit I am not a huge sushi fan, but every now and again I am in the mood for some sushi, so I go to Mikado. I almost always go at lunch, and the lung specials are an excellent value - $11.99 for 3 rolls, plus soup or salad. Everything tastes fresh and is done to my picky standards (no veggies!) and I usually get the same waitress who knows my order, even though I only go once or twice a month. All in all a good lunch. It beats choking down a burger and fries and its not that much more! Service is fast as well. Go and have a good time!

I went for dinner, and I was pleasantly surprised by the happy hour specials: appetizers and few select rolls for $4. I ordered few rolls, of note the Sandwich roll: it was perfectly made, creative assortment of fish and generous portion. I also ordered the Sunomono for appetizer: clean, fresh and deliciously sliced thin fish. I would have given Mikado 5 stars if they only served the rolls with a bit less rice. Other than that, I was very satisfied with food quality, service and the fair prices.

Vegetarians beware!!!! My boyfriend and I tried this sushi place twice and both times were disappointing. The first time we went, we specifically asked if the soups or entrees contained any fish. The server told us no, so we ordered them. They were ok, but later that night we both felt sick. We decided to give it one more chance. This time, when the server saw we only ordered vegetables and asked if we were vegetarian, we said yes, and she said that all the soups and entrees had fish and chicken in them!! Thanks a lot! No wonder we were sick last time. That other served must not have even asked what was in anything. So anyway, we ordered everything without the teriyaki sauce (which has chicken) and without fish sauce and bonito, all of which i guess they put on everything cooked. But this time everything tasted the same as last time and we were sick again! So either the kitchen is really dirty, or the chefs just didn't care that the server put a note that we were vegetarian. We will never be back. How hard is it to make a vegetable hobachi or yaki soba without any meat sauce?? And not to mention, we wanted the tempura, but it has eggs (even though that is NOT the traditional style) and their veggie 'garden' roll was far from it. The only difference between that and their aac roll was they added pickled daikon. if you're avoiding meat, DO NOT EAT HERE! Were sticking to shin and garden cafe from now on!

Atmosphere ideal for a quiet and even classy dinner, alone or in company. The sushi bar is very busy, and it might take longer than usual time to get your order, but it is worth the wait: I had sushi the quality of which I encountered only in Tokyo, Singapore and San Francisco, fresh, dry aged, very well handled and prepared to order. The rice is stiky yet firm, without the excess sugar content you find usually in lesser joints in the area. Their great selection of both cold and warm sake is very inviting as well: the happy hour discounted price is also a nice addition. Quality wise alone it is worth a visit. The service is friendly and very up to their game: no complains there. They also offer an all-you-can-eat option, with a very clear policy of eating all you order or pay for the leftovers, which makes much sense. I'd almost give it a 5 star were it not for the time of execution of your order: given how busy it can become at night, I recommend to place the entirety of your order in one sitting as waiting time between order and serving on a busy night can vary between 15 to 25 minutes. I also recommend the following which I found of particular distinction: try the Sunomono, the Salmon/Avocado salad appetizer and the Volcano roll. I highly recommend the Tuna Vase (avocado and chunks of sesame tuna). Its not on the menu but one of the reasons I'd come back to Mikado. The sushi is fresh, the sake is hot, and service is good. You're better off getting a table if you're used to sitting at the sushi bar like me. The sushi chefs aren't very interactive half of them have a hard time understanding English.

My boyfriend and I had heard good things about Mikado through word of mouth. So, we were accompanied by another couple for dinner here. At Mikado, they offer an all-you-can-eat option along with their regular menu which includes many of their kitchen appetizers, limited kitchen lunch/dinner, sashimi, nigiri, classic sushi rolls, signature sushi rolls, and dessert. I was surprised to see that they offered sashimi with their all-you-can-eat as it's hard to find restaurants that do. They have a lot more to choose from than the menu they have on their website. I had a couple of their signature rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and some shrimp tempura (from the kitchen). While going town on all my dinner, I did take the fact that it was an "all-you-can-eat" into deep consideration when critiquing the food. All the fish they used for their sushi seemed fresh. I've actually encountered in my past experiences some sushi that were less fresh at a NON all-you-can-eat restaurants. In comparison, one of their competitors, Bayridge Sushi Restaurant (which I have written a review on) offer an all-you-can-eat option at a cheaper price. However, the amount of rice they put in their nigiris and sushi rolls are ridiculous. Mikado, on the other hand, clearly aren't trying to mislead their customers with their all-you-can-eat. The shrimp tempura I had was one of the best ones yet. The breading was nice and crispy and it was easy to spot that they weren't using old oil to deep fry in. Little note: their seaweed salad has a bedding of cucumers. The seaweed salad was excellent. The cucumers? Tasteless. So, feel free to ask for it without as I have learned to do. Also, if you like a nice glass (or two) of wine or some sake with your meal, try their lychee sake. It's a cold sake (served in a wine glass) that's good a great amount of sweetness to it. *They offer happy hours on a lot of their items (alcohol, appetizers, sushi rolls, etc) between 4-7 (don't quote me on the hours)* Onto their service.. We had a small asian lady as our server. Her english seemed limited but that didn't stop her from going that extra mile to offer us certain items and to answer the questions we had. Noting that we all had the all-you-can-eat, we were ordering a few items at a time which meant for the server to be on her toes the whole time. She didn't show a hint of annoyance at that which we were really appreciative for. We will definitely be back for the food and for the service !

I've been twice and both experiences were with sushi. I have no complaints about their sushi or service. It may be a dollar or two higher than what you may expect, but the freshness of the fish makes you forget about that. My last visit I had the Las Vegas Roll: Spicy yellowtail, avocado, asparagus rolled w. tuna, salmon & trio tobiko on top drizzed w. wasabi mayo & spicy sauce. Just enough spice and it looked great. This place is kind of a hidden gem as well. its off of Lake Mary blvd next to TJ Maxx. if you aren't looking for it, you'll miss it. Stop in and give them a chance, you won't be disappointed.

So this should have been a 3-star review. Service really made it a great experience. So let's take it from the top. I was looking for a good AYCE sushi place around Orlando to take the family and was amazed at the lack of them! I found Mikado Japanese Cuisine in the north side of town, it had decent reviews and had an all-you-can-eat deal for $25. Arriving at this place, it looked nice, the decor was casual but elegant and the vibe was ok. Some of us did the AYCE while others ordered off the regular menu. This is where they almost get 3 stars. The AYCE selection was quite limited and the rolls were a bit small and a heavy on the rice. The regular items were neatly presented and, according to those dining with us, all were tasty and the portions were generous. Service is where they definitely won me over. Our waitress was Japanese and had limited english, but this did not stop her from going over the top and make sure we were all very well taken care of. She had an upbeat attitude and a great smile on her face, did her very best to offer suggestions and specials, and even tried speaking a little bit of spanish to my uncle (who does not speak english) and made him feel very welcomed. This was my family's first time eating Japanese food and walked away very pleased Thank you ver much for having an amazing staff. Try to take the restrictions off the AYCE menu!

Love this place. I have been looking for a good sushi place in central fl for awhile and this is the spot. The lunch special is perfect with a decent choice of rolls. I get the philly, cali, and boston roll. Sushi is always fresh with a good presentation. The atmosphere is good the service is good. I went once to the all you can eat and I didnt get my money's worth but they have amazing choices of rolls n it is really a good deal if you can eat. If you asked me about this place before yesterday, I would have given it two stars and let you know I would not go back.... I received an advertisement flyer that included a daily sushi happy hour 4-7 - thought we gotta check it out... Ordered half the items off of the happy hour menu with some trepidation but we were hungry! The rolls on the list were $4 each order and appetizers for $3.50 a plate. The roles are awesome! Not over-ladened with heavy rice and had good flavor. Ingredients were fresh. The nori was a bit chewy but this I can overlook. The shrimp tempura roll, we ordered more! It was tasty, the shrimp still warm out of the fryer! The chicken yakitori was well cooked and had decent flavor, have to eat the lemon wedges with them to balance the semi-decent teriyaki sauce. We ordered an entre of donkatsu which came with soup, salad, and rice - this is something we'd order again. Overall, experience was great. We'd def go back for the happy hour ONLY. During regular hours, food is overpriced for what it offers. The bento boxes are wayyyy overpriced. Would come here over AMURAs in Towne Park fo'sho. Decor - what's with the random shiny sticks protruding from the table backboards?

I have to start out by saying I come here about every two weeks, if not more often. I always get the sushi. As a creature of habit, typically pick from the same list of 4 or 5 rolls--but everything i have had has been delicious. They have a sushi happy hour that starts at 4 i believe, where they discount a lot of the what i call "simple rolls", such as California, Spicy Tuna, Philly roll, etc. I like to sit at the bar where they have a TV and the sushi chefs are very nice and talkative. I somehow manage to pick the times when they are less busy, but service still tends to be a little slow. Not slow enough to deter me though, I will continue to come back here.

I think this one has jumped the shark. I've been going since the week of the grand opening, and sadly have watched the service and quality decline. The sushi was beautiful and fresh with exceptionally gorgeous presentation at the beginning... now it's a bit blasé. And it's not as fresh. As a VIP card member (lol, I've been there... a lot) and an early adopter, I'm sad to shelve this lunch spot. It's just not as good as it was a few months ago all sparkly and new.

In the world of sushi we all have our favorites and our own take on the balance of sweet and vinegar, excess or simple, modern or traditional, and plain old flare for the exotic. It is no secret that I am a big sushi fan, further, Mikado Metrowest happens to satisfy my weakness. Although, I rank Shin Sushi well on the top of my list. I dined at Mikado Hunter's Creek a long time ago, so with the new Mikado Lake Mary, I was very thrilled to see if my favorite place could translate to another location. Not being very familiar with all of Lake Mary, I employed my trusty GPS. When the lovely soothing GPS voice announced "You have reached your destination." I was still looking around confused. Here I was in a Publix Supermarket Plaza going, huh? So I drove around. I got to the end of the plaza and was still, huh? Oh, I had to look up to see the sign. From Lake Mary Blvd, I saw a sign on this end of the plaza but could not recognize it. Something about the lighting and font of the sign rendered it as a spot on the big expansive wall. The entrance is on the side of the building facing N.Sun Dr.. Maybe it is a feng shui thing, of which I'll admit I am ignorant, forgive me please. But unless you are right up on the restaurant you can not see it. Oh well, I am here let's go in. Welcome to a very modern contemporary take on the more traditional Metrowest and Hunter's Creek location. The large sushi bar with brick backdrop welcome diners to interact. Dark woods and contrasting wall colors create a very stylish feel. There is a feature wall that boast a gentle display of curves, almost invoking a sense of fluidity. Dark furniture sits on large metallic brushed rectangular porcelain floor tiles to resemble a cozy comfort setting. The gorgeous soft brushed linen metallic rectangular porcelain tiles adorn the bathroom walls, bringing a sense of continuity from the dining room. Tall free flowing glass tubes highlight points of reference in the open dining room. This very stark low lit canvas is a perfect backdrop for showcasing wonderful food. The menu here has a couple of additions that the other locations does not have. The big addition is "Weekend All You Can Eat Sushi($23.95)"! There is a large combination of regular rolls and a few complicated rolls, for a fixed price. Anyone ready for a sushi throw down? "Rules: no sharing unless they are all you can eat patrons, no taking home. We suggest you don't order more than you can eat, please be advised that uneaten food will be charged to your bill: $1.25 per pc. sushi (including rice), $1.50 per pc. sashimi, $0.75 per pc. roll. Any kitchen food must be finished before ordering more." (as shown in menu picture above). Any wavering of the rule you will be spanked and sent to the corner! Really? Why shouldn't you just go to an "All you can eat buffet", eat what you want and throw the rest away, rather than be subjected to the spanking? While we were going over the menu and discussing what to order, the manager walked over and suggested we order "All you can eat". Whatever made him feel like we wanted a spanking for not finishing our food? This location has Hibachi, the popular flat top Japanese cooking method. Unfortunately, there is no magic fancy chef show as the hibachi grills are in the kitchen. But, the amazing "white shrimp sauce" is there. Squid salad with supposedly a sprinkling of seaweed salad. The menu reads: Squid Salad Julienne cut, marinated squid w. ginger, black mushroom, bamboo shoots $5.95. The server said that there was cucumber at the bottom and she would replace the cucumber with my request for a sprinkling of seaweed. Sounds great, since I love this combination. Oops, someone forgot to mention that there was a $3.00 upcharge! Here is an inside secret, squid and seaweed salad is sourced from a vendor in a box. Some restaurants add different items to stand out. Using cucumbers as a base for squid salad to make it appear as a larger portion is not quite what I expected. Even further, replacing the cucumber and upcharging $3.00 without telling me is adding insult to injury. Miscommunication from my server? Maybe. It is certainly not about $3.00, it is more of the principle. I am going to reiterate, did I mention I like Mikado Metrowest? I thought so. Sashimi - Smoked salmon, mackerel, toro. Toro has a refrigerated life of maybe two days, three is pushing it. I understand not having this highly perishable item available when there is no market. The Toro was still cold and watery in the middle. While I appreciate the chef's attempt of serving all sashimi at the same time, I would have been okay had someone communicated that it would take an extra minute rather than serve me icicle. Maybe I am accustomed to having my mackerel with grated ginger, but that was missing. Smoked salmon was spot on. Nigiri - Tuna and salmon. Both fish texture and flavors were okay. The rice was a little on the sweet side for

I went here with a group of friends after hearing how great their happy hour specials are. At $4 a roll, with hot apps as well, I was excited to dig in, but as soon as the food arrived, I changed my mind. The tempura shrimp roll was so huge I had to bite the sushi pieces in half, and it turned into a mess. The spicy tuna tasted like tuna from a can. The Edamame was okay, but by this point, I had totally lost my appetite. After one bite of that tuna roll, I passed it off to a friend. The staff were all super friendly and nice, they kept our drinks filled, and the drink prices were great! If they could bring their food up a notch, this would be a great place for dinner in Lake Mary. Unfortunately, as it is, I won't be going back.

Usually, I swing by this place with my girlfriend. Love their foods and service. Lunch and Happy Hour make you happy. Also, they send a coupon in local areas, so do not miss it! Compared with Samurai Sushi, which is located in Lake Mary/Heathrow, both are so cool, cool, and cool :)

Went there for dinner with a small group. The Volcano Roll was the most impressive. Tasty and a bit spicy. Tuna Roll, California Roll, Salmon Roll and the Alaska Roll were all excellent. Edamame and pot stickers were as expected and good appetizers. Friendly staff.

I'm eating lunch as we speak. Presentation is fantastic & the sushi is very reasonably priced for lunch specials. We moved to the Longwood/Lake Mary area a year ago & I'm finding hidden gems. This is definitely more personable & intimate than Amura's. I will definitely be coming back. The Salmon 3 Ways made my hearts flutter. It was delicious!!!

My wife and I eat here every few weeks. We love the all you can eat and happy hour specials. Sushi is good and drinks plentiful. We have noticed that for about the past year that the service has declined I a bit. I hope that they read these reviews and make corrections to that.

The sushi is average at best-- your typical selection of fish and edible quality. Sadly, my favorite part of dinner was the Sapporo beer.... Service was ridiculously poor. Neither the manager nor the owner were present. When worker called to see about our situation, the manager told the worker not to call because "when he not there he not working." They have absolutely no sense of hospitality etiquette in the restaurant business. ALL IN ALL: If you want high priced-average sushi with poor service, Mikados is the place for you.

Oh my gosh, Mikado! When I'm in a deep sushi craving and I cannot be satisfied by just ONE roll, I call up my bestie, tell her to skip lunch, and meet me at Mikado's for a sushi dinner extravaganza! For $25 you can have all you can eat select appetizers, soups, noodles, sushi rolls, sashimi, and dessert! Now, if you're a sushi enthusiast, like me, you know that you can EASILY spend $25 on an app and roll alone. Sometimes you can possibly swing splitting a dessert in the mix, but never much more. The price is just the icing on the cake of delicious, fresh food, and impeccable service. If you're wondering if the roll selection is just variations of a California roll, think again! The list is varied and long! Yellowtail is always my favorite and their spicy yellowtail roll is to die for. You can see pictures of my last sushi fest below... don't judge.

What can I say? We LOVE the sushi here! It's better than Amura, IMO, and some friends of ours who love Amuras changed their tune once they came here with us. The portions are great, the price is right... The atmosphere is nice! Not the kind of place I'd bring my kids though. It's more of a date night spot. The only weird thing is their all you can eat deal. It's like $25 and you can eat all the sushi you want, but if you don't finish what you order, you have to pay (yes, pay) about .25- .50 a roll. That's kind of lame. Although I suppose that stops people from wasting food. Who knows. Just go and don't be a glutton. Haha! The Mexican roll, magic roll, Godzilla roll, and shrimp tempura roll are bomb.

I've reviewed this place before and I absolutely love their food, but unfortunately the service has gotten so bad that I'll never get a chance to eat it again. We just walked out after sitting at a table for 15 minutes and no one ever took our drink order. They've lost me, I'm not going back. Luckily I found a recipe online for crab & asparagus soup that is as good as theirs. I'll just be making it myself now.

Every time my family comes to Florida we make sure to stop here at least once. The all you can eat is amazing! The sushi is fresh and the other dishes are great too! I'm not sure why people are saying service is horrible but I've never had bad service here. Maybe they just don't know how to order. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 since the last time I went there it seemed like the shrimp from shrimp tempura seemed much smaller than before

Not the best sushi I ever had, but definitely not the worst. My husband works up in Lake Mary, and I decided to meet up with him for lunch one afternoon. We both got the lunch special, which included salad/soup and two basic rolls of your choosing for $9. Not a bad price. We both opted for salad, which was a huge portion. Typical half-frozen iceberg lettuce with thick ginger dressing. It was good. I ordered the spicy crunchy salmon roll and shrimp tempura roll. My husband ordered the crunch roll and the spicy crunchy salmon roll. They were all good. Our service was fast, which is very much appreciated when you're on your lunch hour. For so many positive reviews, I was surprised how empty this place was! Overall I would come back for lunch. Sushi was fresh and reasonably priced, and service was good.

Sushi AYCE was decent and the menu is rather extensive. I'd recommend most of their offerings except for the tuna sushi. The tempuras (which actually should be renamed to Panko) are average. Service can be very slow at times and be wary of the bespectacled asian waitress who can be rude and pushy. No problem with the rest of the wait staff. Their sashimi AYCE is the only reason why I will head back.

Not up to par, sadly I had high hopes for this place. I'm not much of a roll person but ever since my boyfriend moved to Florida AYCE sushi is non-existing. We ordered 3 rolls, a sashimi special, and 1 desert. Roll #1 Banzai Tree: 0/5 Tuna, yellowtail, krabmeat, avocado & tobiko rolled w. thinly sliced of cucumber, served w. lime ponzu sauce. I guess I wanted refreshing but not THAT refreshing. This roll was wrapped in a cucumber shell. Honestly I think this roll would've tasted great if it had rice. lol Roll #2 Yummy Roll 4/5 King crab, seaweed salad, spicy mayo rolled w. tempura flakes, laced w. tuna, salmon, whitefish & shrimp. This roll was pretty decent but I found the roll rather small. Roll #3 Lemon Oyster Roll 3/5 Fried oyster, masago, scallion, spicy sauce w. rice seasoning & slice lemon on top. Wanted to try something interesting. This roll had slices of lemon on top of it. It added a nice balance with the fried oyster if you eat the zest (lemon skin). But again I found this roll rather small. Portion sizes were definitely small. Sashimi Lunch special: 0/5 comes with I believe 10-12 slices of sashimi. I was excited because I usually just eat sashimi or nigiri. But the fish wasn't very fresh. It came with salmon, tuna, Yellow tail, and some other fish that tasted like dirt. Super icky.

If they are busy, the all u can eat turns into, order once and then don't expect to reorder again for 45 minutes. I like the food here, but it's very poorly managed and one time everything is great, and the next time your walking out in disgust.

I love the AYCE menu! It's a great deal for your money lol. Went based on reviews and it was surprisingly delicious. Sushi was fresh and not at all like those buffet places (yuck). I believe I had about a total of 3 or 4 rolls, 2 pieces of nigiri, 2 appetizers, and chocolate ice cream. Yup, I know I slept well that night. Anyway, it's a nice restaurant and I know I'll be back for the occasional sushi feast.

Their sushi is the best in town that I have found, and you just cannot beat their All you can eat deal. I can stuff myself with some sushi. The waitstaff is always nice and refills come promptly. The sushi chefs are a little slow sometimes, but you can't rush perfection I guess :)

The portions were tiny for the price. We were hungry a couple hours later. This would've been okay if I was dieting, but I'm not. I had the shrimp tempura bento box, which had the most amount of food among all the orders. Tempura was nothing special and I was mildly amused by the fact that I only had 2 shrimp tempura. Colleagues had teriyaki and noodles, which were okay, just not enough. Apparently sushi specials are the way to go here. Too bad I was so unimpressed that I didn't really want to go back.

I visited Orlando on the weekend. A friend recommended this place. We went in a group of 6. The place was big. It was clean. It looked nice. We were greeted by the host. We all decided to go for their AYCE (all you can eat) menu. The all you can eat menu had a very large selection. From soups, to salads, fried foods, fried rice, specialty rolls. They had it all. Everything I ordered was very good, the quality does not go down just because its from the AYCE menu. Hot sake was good. Our server Jenny was very kind and did a great job handling all the orders. $23 bucks for the AYCE Menu, but that was a steal in comparison to what I ate. Next time Im around Ill make sure to visit.

So this should have been a 3-star review. Service really made it a great experience. So let's take it from the top. I was looking for a good AYCE sushi place around Orlando to take the family and was amazed at the lack of them! I found Mikado Japanese Cuisine in the north side of town, it had decent reviews and had an all-you-can-eat deal for $25. Arriving at this place, it looked nice, the decor was casual but elegant and the vibe was ok. Some of us did the AYCE while others ordered off the regular menu. This is where they almost get 3 stars. The AYCE selection was quite limited and the rolls were a bit small and a heavy on the rice. The regular items were neatly presented and, according to those dining with us, all were tasty and the portions were generous. Service is where they definitely won me over. Our waitress was Japanese and had limited english, but this did not stop her from going over the top and make sure we were all very well taken care of. She had an upbeat attitude and a great smile on her face, did her very best to offer suggestions and specials, and even tried speaking a little bit of spanish to my uncle (who does not speak english) and made him feel very welcomed. This was my family's first time eating Japanese food and walked away very pleased Thank you ver much for having an amazing staff. Try to take the restrictions off the AYCE menu!

If you asked me about this place before yesterday, I would have given it two stars and let you know I would not go back.... I received an advertisement flyer that included a daily sushi happy hour 4-7 - thought we gotta check it out... Ordered half the items off of the happy hour menu with some trepidation but we were hungry! The rolls on the list were $4 each order and appetizers for $3.50 a plate. The roles are awesome! Not over-ladened with heavy rice and had good flavor. Ingredients were fresh. The nori was a bit chewy but this I can overlook. The shrimp tempura roll, we ordered more! It was tasty, the shrimp still warm out of the fryer! The chicken yakitori was well cooked and had decent flavor, have to eat the lemon wedges with them to balance the semi-decent teriyaki sauce. We ordered an entre of donkatsu which came with soup, salad, and rice - this is something we'd order again. Overall, experience was great. We'd def go back for the happy hour ONLY. During regular hours, food is overpriced for what it offers. The bento boxes are wayyyy overpriced. Would come here over AMURAs in Towne Park fo'sho. Decor - what's with the random shiny sticks protruding from the table backboards?

Tasty sushi at a good price. Go for lunch. The lunch specials I got was $8.95 for two rolls and a soup or salad. Shrimp Tempura Roll and a Spicy Tuna Roll. Salad was good but miso soup okay. They are a bit slow. I've gone with a party of two and as a party of three and all meals were delivered staggered. The place is very clean. The waitresses have been awesome about drink refills. It is really a good lunch value for some tasty sushi.

Always good, and always a good price! I admit I am not a huge sushi fan, but every now and again I am in the mood for some sushi, so I go to Mikado. I almost always go at lunch, and the lung specials are an excellent value - $11.99 for 3 rolls, plus soup or salad. Everything tastes fresh and is done to my picky standards (no veggies!) and I usually get the same waitress who knows my order, even though I only go once or twice a month. All in all a good lunch. It beats choking down a burger and fries and its not that much more! Service is fast as well. Go and have a good time!

Atmosphere ideal for a quiet and even classy dinner, alone or in company. The sushi bar is very busy, and it might take longer than usual time to get your order, but it is worth the wait: I had sushi the quality of which I encountered only in Tokyo, Singapore and San Francisco, fresh, dry aged, very well handled and prepared to order. The rice is stiky yet firm, without the excess sugar content you find usually in lesser joints in the area. Their great selection of both cold and warm sake is very inviting as well: the happy hour discounted price is also a nice addition. Quality wise alone it is worth a visit. The service is friendly and very up to their game: no complains there. They also offer an all-you-can-eat option, with a very clear policy of eating all you order or pay for the leftovers, which makes much sense. I'd almost give it a 5 star were it not for the time of execution of your order: given how busy it can become at night, I recommend to place the entirety of your order in one sitting as waiting time between order and serving on a busy night can vary between 15 to 25 minutes. I also recommend the following which I found of particular distinction: try the Sunomono, the Salmon/Avocado salad appetizer and the Volcano roll. I think this one has jumped the shark. I've been going since the week of the grand opening, and sadly have watched the service and quality decline. The sushi was beautiful and fresh with exceptionally gorgeous presentation at the beginning... now it's a bit blasé. And it's not as fresh. As a VIP card member (lol, I've been there... a lot) and an early adopter, I'm sad to shelve this lunch spot. It's just not as good as it was a few months ago all sparkly and new.

In the world of sushi we all have our favorites and our own take on the balance of sweet and vinegar, excess or simple, modern or traditional, and plain old flare for the exotic. It is no secret that I am a big sushi fan, further, Mikado Metrowest happens to satisfy my weakness. Although, I rank Shin Sushi well on the top of my list. I dined at Mikado Hunter's Creek a long time ago, so with the new Mikado Lake Mary, I was very thrilled to see if my favorite place could translate to another location. Not being very familiar with all of Lake Mary, I employed my trusty GPS. When the lovely soothing GPS voice announced "You have reached your destination." I was still looking around confused. Here I was in a Publix Supermarket Plaza going, huh? So I drove around. I got to the end of the plaza and was still, huh? Oh, I had to look up to see the sign. From Lake Mary Blvd, I saw a sign on this end of the plaza but could not recognize it. Something about the lighting and font of the sign rendered it as a spot on the big expansive wall. The entrance is on the side of the building facing N.Sun Dr.. Maybe it is a feng shui thing, of which I'll admit I am ignorant, forgive me please. But unless you are right up on the restaurant you can not see it. Oh well, I am here let's go in. Welcome to a very modern contemporary take on the more traditional Metrowest and Hunter's Creek location. The large sushi bar with brick backdrop welcome diners to interact. Dark woods and contrasting wall colors create a very stylish feel. There is a feature wall that boast a gentle display of curves, almost invoking a sense of fluidity. Dark furniture sits on large metallic brushed rectangular porcelain floor tiles to resemble a cozy comfort setting. The gorgeous soft brushed linen metallic rectangular porcelain tiles adorn the bathroom walls, bringing a sense of continuity from the dining room. Tall free flowing glass tubes highlight points of reference in the open dining room. This very stark low lit canvas is a perfect backdrop for showcasing wonderful food. The menu here has a couple of additions that the other locations does not have. The big addition is "Weekend All You Can Eat Sushi($23.95)"! There is a large combination of regular rolls and a few complicated rolls, for a fixed price. Anyone ready for a sushi throw down? "Rules: no sharing unless they are all you can eat patrons, no taking home. We suggest you don't order more than you can eat, please be advised that uneaten food will be charged to your bill: $1.25 per pc. sushi (including rice), $1.50 per pc. sashimi, $0.75 per pc. roll. Any kitchen food must be finished before ordering more." (as shown in menu picture above). Any wavering of the rule you will be spanked and sent to the corner! Really? Why shouldn't you just go to an "All you can eat buffet", eat what you want and throw the rest away, rather than be subjected to the spanking? While we were going over the menu and discussing what to order, the manager walked over and suggested we order "All you can eat". Whatever made him feel like we wanted a spanking for not finishing our food? This location has Hibachi, the popular flat top Japanese cooking method. Unfortunately, there is no magic fancy chef show as the hibachi grills are in the kitchen. But, the amazing "white shrimp sauce" is there. Squid salad with supposedly a sprinkling of seaweed salad. The menu reads: Squid Salad Julienne cut, marinated squid w. ginger, black mushroom, bamboo shoots $5.95. The server said that there was cucumber at the bottom and she would replace the cucumber with my request for a sprinkling of seaweed. Sounds great, since I love this combination. Oops, someone forgot to mention that there was a $3.00 upcharge! Here is an inside secret, squid and seaweed salad is sourced from a vendor in a box. Some restaurants add different items to stand out. Using cucumbers as a base for squid salad to make it appear as a larger portion is not quite what I expected. Even further, replacing the cucumber and upcharging $3.00 without telling me is adding insult to injury. Miscommunication from my server? Maybe. It is certainly not about $3.00, it is more of the principle. I am going to reiterate, did I mention I like Mikado Metrowest? I thought so. Sashimi - Smoked salmon, mackerel, toro. Toro has a refrigerated life of maybe two days, three is pushing it. I understand not having this highly perishable item available when there is no market. The Toro was still cold and watery in the middle. While I appreciate the chef's attempt of serving all sashimi at the same time, I would have been okay had someone communicated that it would take an extra minute rather than serve me icicle. Maybe I am accustomed to having my mackerel with grated ginger, but that was missing. Smoked salmon was spot on. Nigiri - Tuna and salmon. Both fish texture and flavors were okay. Went 10 minutes before ladies night and they were not willing to budge for the discount for us...not a big deal, but we thought that was weird. Our tuna appetizer was great although our sushi came out right after. The server was good about checking on us and getting what ever we needed. The sushi was well prepared and tasted good. Nothing special regarding the sushi, although, nothing bad either. The major downfall was the male host kept pacing in front of our table, and commenting every time. He was making our whole table very uncomfortable. Due to his behavior, we will NOT be returning.

Seems by the look of the reviews, we are not the first patrons to receive REALLY AWFUL SERVICE at Mikado Lake Mary. We arrived at the restaurant at about 6:30pm. My husband wasn't too hungry, so he just ordered a hand roll and one uni sushi. My son and I got the all you can eat special, since we wanted appetizers and he definately wanted ice cream for dessert. We ordered soup and salad, a sushi appetizer, a couple pieces of sushi and two rolls. We got our soup after about 15 minutes...we figured maybe things were a little busy, but come on, 15 minutes for miso soup??? Then another 15 minutes later we got the salad. Just a green salad with some avocado on top. 30 seconds max prep time. Okay, so then about 10 minutes later the waitress brings the shrimp appetizer and tells us the sushi bar was running a bit slow, so we might want to order some kitchen food in the meantime. (Keep in mind these stingy dopes charge you $25 for all you can eat but will spank you for not finishing by charging you for everything you leave on your plate a la carte!!!) So I'm more than a little hesitant to order anything else. We wound up finally getting our sushi after an HOUR. I was so over it I couldn't even eat. My husband complained to the waitress several times during our wait, and then had to ask to speak to the manager. The manager finally came over and after my husband shared the fact that we were sorely disappointed with the service, offered to take 20% off our check. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I told him the only way I would consider coming back to give them another chance would be if they comp'ed our meal and gave us a coupon to give them another try. All he did was say he couldn't do that and made excuses about having a large party that was slowing things down. Excuse me, but doesn't the large party take up the same amount of time that five individual tables takes? And they shouldn't slow the sushi bar to a crawl. I left the restaurant with our son to wait in the car while my husband negotiated the check, and he reported to me that after I left, he finally got the manager to take my meal and my son's off the check, and he wound up paying for his sushi and the drinks ( a hot tea and a lemonade). The "hostess", a bratty little wench told my husband that he should "get over it". He told her she didn't have the right to speak to him that way, and that as the customer she should address him as "sir". She infomed him that she didn't call anyone "sir" and he should "get a life".....she did all of this while standing right next to the "manager"....my husband asked him if she was the best he could do for a "hostess" and did he really think it was appropriate for her to be the face of his restaurant??? My husband said she should be fired immediately and she just rolled her eyes. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT. IN FACT, I'VE LOST MY APPETITE COMPLETELY FOR DINING OUT AND WILL MOST LIKELY NOT GO OUT TO EAT AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE. STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE...OH BY THE WAY, THE FOOD WAS MARGINAL TO BOOT! P.S. We went to Orange Leaf Yogurt afterwards so that my son could have his ice cream!!! He says "YUM!" gummy bears!!! not hard to please....

We live right around the corner from Mikado and have been there twice since they opened last year and found it to be a little overpriced. We typically go to Samurai (1 mile down the road from Mikado) because they offer great happy hour drink and sushi specials and service is always great. We recently received a coupon in the mail from Mikado for $10.00 off of $50.00 spent. We wanted to give them another try and since we are a one income family due to this economy, the coupon was a blessing. Service was great and the food was fresh, but when we tried to use our coupon the manager refused it because we had partaken in the happy hour drink special of buy one glass of wine get one free. This made no sense since our drinks were above and beyond the $50.00 that we spent on food. Not only did they refuse our coupon, but management wouldn't speak to us...they had our server deliver the bad news, which put her in a bad position. What makes it ridiculous is if we had just ordered water our coupon would have been accepted. This is a case of BAD management unfortunately we will NEVER be back...especially when there is a great sushi restaurant right down the road and another one a few miles away (Amura). I eat at Bayridge for the All you Can Eat Sushi every couple of weeks so I was excited when I got a mailer for a new option and with an expanded all you can eat menu. Not crazy about the $23.95 price but all you can eat is really the only way I eat sushi because when I got to regular sushi places I spend more and always leave hungry. One positive note was that they reduce their alcohol prices to normal levels if you order the AYCE so a glass of house swill was $3. I got in there at 8:30 on a Thursday and there were people at 4 or 5 tables. The expanded menu of udon, terriyaki, tempura, dumplings and fried rice seems enticing at first but you soon realize that they are clever ruses designed to fill you up on the cheap. We ordered two seaweed salads and some poor fried pork dumplings and things started to turn south fast. It took too long for these starters to come out and then our waitress disappeared. After finally getting her over we ordered a crazy roll and some nigiri. My first bite of nigiri was the deal killer, the rice was hard and cold and low grade and packed almost an inch high under the fish. The fish was slightly better than Chinese buffet quality. The roll was standard size with a higher rice to fish ratio than anyone would or should tolerate. The wasabi was an odd color and clearly not of high quality. I seriously considered cutting my losses and running for the door but I am not a thief and my waitress had disappeared again. By that time there were only two other people in the restaurant and I flagged down the manager to file a missing persons report on our waitress. He could see my fuse was about to blow and sent over a complimentary glass of wine. We wound up ordering some more but I was literally in fear; the order included a tuna crunch roll which quite possibly may have been the worst thing I have ever ordered in a sushi restaurant. The roll was over riced and the crunch resembled saw dust. Having to finish it in order to not get charged was a challenge more arduous than climbing Mt. Everest. Alas, the check came and the nightmare came to an end.

We came here for lunch when I was in a serious sushi craving mood. Unfortunately, the hostess had on so much scented body lotion that I could smell it all the way back in our seating which was sort of a appetite killer right off the start. We ordered 4 rolls, with one of them being our ubiquitous sushi yardstick ye olde spicy tuna roll. Which was not spicy...at all and rather flavorless to be honest. The avocado in all our rolls was perfectly ripe, the fish was reasonably fresh, but for the price and the amount of food served it was all in all just a meh experience. Yes the decor is nice, but the roll quality was on par with The Fresh Market's to go sushi.

If' you're looking for great tasting rolls at a reasonable price, come here!!!! It doesn't have all the hype that the other local favorite sushi place has, but honestly...the rolls are better here... and the prices are great. the staff is very nice, they will remember you which is great. it's got that home town feel to it, yet ti's still classy. whether it's for lunch or dinner, i've never been disappointed. the Lion King roll is my favorite, super tasty. Def check it out if you're in the area.

I'm eating lunch as we speak. Presentation is fantastic & the sushi is very reasonably priced for lunch specials. We moved to the Longwood/Lake Mary area a year ago & I'm finding hidden gems. This is definitely more personable & intimate than Amura's. I will definitely be coming back. The Salmon 3 Ways made my hearts flutter. It was delicious!!!

My wife and I eat here every few weeks. We love the all you can eat and happy hour specials. Sushi is good and drinks plentiful. We have noticed that for about the past year that the service has declined I a bit. I hope that they read these reviews and make corrections to that.

I've been here twice and we always order from the All You Can Eat Menu. What a deal!!! So many choices from salads, soups, usual appetizers, plenty of sushi options, teriyaki, tempura & fried rice. The portion size is just right in case you want to try everything! But make sure you leave room for the red bean ice cream...also included!!! The food was delicious & service was great! Not from here, but a must when I visit!

So sad that I have to give them a bad review, because this was our favorite place for years. The past few times we have gone the service has been very poor. It was almost like they didn't want to wait on us at all. They have lost us, we won't be back.

The all you can eat is wonderful! You order items off a menu so they come fresh. The snapper appetizer is a must! One of the only AYCE sushi places that allows you to order sashimi by the slice. Every time I'm in town I look forward to my visit here. Can't wait to get back here.

I am a huge sushi lover! I come here at least twice a month. I get a salmon roll and shrimp tempura roll. both are always delicious. The servers are friendly and the food comes out fast. There is also rarely a wait which is so nice. I would suggest giving it a try!

Good for what it is. Had dinner here last Saturday night. They have a pretty good happy hour until 7:00 everyday. We ordered a few appetizers and rolls from the happy hour menu and also entrees from the dinner menu. All in all everything was good. They also have an AYCE menu for around $24. You can order anything from this menu as many times as you like as long as you finish what you order. There were cold and hot apps, tempura, rice dishes, noodle dishes, sushi/sashimi ect. I will have to come back and try this sometime. Looks promising though. My one small complaint, the rice they use for sushi is not proper type, the grain was a bit longer than what i'm used to (jasmine rice maybe). I've seen this going on at a few other sushi places around town. Don't get me wrong, it was still good, but I could tell it was not proper. I would recommend Mikado, especially happy hour.

Let me say this is the first review I have ever done. With that being said I LOVE THIS PLACE! haven't been here before but will be returning, the sushi was very good and even though the service was a little slow the waitress we had made up for it she was hott! Think her name was Wing or something. But anyway fish was fresh and saki was tasty. I will be returning for AYCE lunch this week for sure.

We went this past week for lunch, they have great specials with pricing to match. I go the steak Bento box and it was perfect. I have been here before as well, and the food is always delicious and fresh. The service was good, restaurant was clean and overall a great experience. Haven't had the chance to enjoy the 'AYCE' special but I have a feeling I will be back and tackle that soon :)

The price you pay for AYCE is unbeatable. I've been to a few AYCE sushi places in FL that I won't return to as the quality of fish was questionable at times. I've never questioned Mikado's quality and return time and time again here.

This place is lovely. So convenient and their sushi is awesome!! Our family is gluten free and Mikado always provides us with options. They're willing to alter any sushi roll to make it happen! They even have GF soy sauce. I also love how they send out coupons in the magazines. Try them!

The rolls were good, but the service was extremely slow and disjointed (although we did come at around 2:50 p.m. when it closes at 3 p.m., but I was still disappointed with the service). We really wanted to each sushi, so we looked up the nearest sushi place, not realizing that Mikado was about to close. They still let us in and seated us, so, although I felt kind of bad making people stay, I noticed that there were still some tables full. We wanted to start out with vegetable tempura, but the server informed us that the oil had already been changed out so it was impossible. That was fine, so we ended up ordering three rolls, the mango roll, the thai pham roll and a grilled lobster roll. The grilled lobster and the thai pham came at a reasonable rate and I enjoyed both of them. I was afraid the thai pham would be too spicy for me, but it had just the right amount of kick. (I really cannot tolerate almost any level of spice, so if you enjoy spicy food, this is not your roll). There were less pieces of sushi in the grilled lobster roll, but it was still good. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. We were told that they had to heat up the oil for the tempura shrimp in the mango roll. We wondered if they were heating up the oil for that, then could they have heated up the oil for the vegetable tempura? It was a little strange. Also, we would have been fine ordering another roll, if we knew that it would take forever to get the mango roll. When the mango roll finally came, I was not impressed. The mango sauce on it had a weird taste to it. I wouldn't order it again. Maybe if I come back at a more normal lunch hour I would give it 4 stars, but for the service and the disappointment of the mango roll I have to give it a 3.

All you can eat sushi is a great value! The food is excellent, the prices are good, and the staff is always very friendly. Some times the service can be very slow when the restaurant is full- we once sat next to a table that remained unbussed for about an hour, but when it's not a packed house, they're on top of it.

This is my Go to spot in Orlando. For lunch the bento boxes are great or the tuna 3 way! But in my mind Mikado shines with it's all you can eat deal. It is $23 per person. And if you love great quality sushi, You will definitely get your money's worth. A couple of my favorites is the salmon avocado salad, Kamikaze roll,Mikado roll, and of course tons of eel nigiri. Don't forget the red bean icecream! The service here is great every time I've come. I highly recommend Mikado!

Initiate sushi destruction in 3.....2....1! Umm, I just want to say I LOVE coming here for their AYCE sushi menu! For the low low price of $23.95, you get: made to order salad, assorted soups, kitchen appetizers, sushi, and ice cream. Yes, lots of awesome food for such a reasonable price. There's also an added bonus of discounted sake and beer on the ayce menu. My absolutely favorite roll to get is the tiger roll, rawr! It's assorted raw fish and avocado that's all wrapped up in soy paper. Of course if you don't want to get rolls then just fill up on selected nigiri and sashimi. Normally, I never make it to dessert, but last time I went I got to try a spoonful of my neighbors red bean ice cream. It was absolutely delicious with a surprising floral aftertaste! Oh, just a tip. Order what you want all at once. Service isn't consistent so you may or may not have to flag down your server for follow ups.
