Came with hubby and ate some very good BBQ. Clean and very friendly environment. Especially if waitress who was Ms. Jo Brasfield was great.

Ribs worked, but not a lot of them. Price was $12.95. Only beers were Bud and Bud Light.. DC liked her brisket. It is what it is. Worked as a road stop after a long day.

To go order on 9-11-2015. Got a sandwich, but the bun had green mold on it. Fries were good though. Sweet tea was good as well. Please check your buns.

Come for the meat and skip almost everything else! And definitely definitely show up for the meat. The ribs were large juicy and meaty - we enjoyed both the regular sweet barbecue and the dry rub. All of the meat products were super tender and delicious. They had for barbecue sauce is on the table but only one was really good. A family of four was able to eat all we wanted and take a little back home for around $48 including tip.

I've seen this chain all over for a long time, but never had a chance to check it out. I can cross it off my list now and I won't be back. There was absolutely nothing memorable about the food. It all arrived on time, was hot, waitress was great, it just didn't taste that good. Just skip it. Nothing to see here. Save your money and try something else.

Another great meal of pork, beans , slaw and garlic toast . Doesn't get any better than this. Always good and always the same, which is a sign of a good restaurant.

The Environment: Cozy and clean. The Service: The waitresses and cashiers are very nice and well informed about the food. THE FOOD: My husband and I ordered the Feast meal, which includes: Ribs, Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, Chicken Thighs & Drumsticks, 3 sides (we ordered Baked Macaroni, BBQ Baked Beans, Crinkled Fries), Cornbread (WHICH WAS MADE CORRECTLY), and a gallon of Southern Sweet Tea. SIGHHHHHH!!! I'm stuffed, but satisfied. We are definitely going to come back!

In the past I enjoyed this place, but, this time was not a great experience. The place is dirty, the food was cold, portions were small, and service was mediocre.

July 2012 First impression was that it didn't smell clean. But upon inspection, it was clean. Maybe the carpet needed to be cleaned or something. Anyway, I ordered the salad and Brunswick stew. The salad bar wasn't as big as some other Sonny's but everything was fresh and cold. The waitress was nice and quick and checked on us often. The bathrooms are newly remodeled and spacious. Good food, good price. I'd definitely come back.

Somewhere between and 2 and 3 star kind of place. Worst meal I have ever had at a Sonny's and I never expect much out of them. My kids chicken fingers looked greyish. The service was sub par at best. It was like we were inconveniencing them to get a table and a high chair. Our waitress was ok but thats me trying to find something ok about this place. I will never eat at this location again and will probably be a while til i go to another again. Like I said...didnt expect much and was still let down.

My husband raved about the Sonny's chain for years. We came here with great excitement, and the food was quite disappointing. The pulled pork was actually cold and soggy, the lunch ribs were delicious (but I use the plural of ribs loosely) they served me two abnormally small ribs with a mini itsy bitsy rib end that was dried out and inedible. The bathroom was in sub par condition, and the waitress forgot my side dish. I would avoid this location if we ever returned this way.

The great think about Sonny's is it is consistently acceptable absolutely everywhere. We, being hungry college students, went for the all you can eat option and ate all we could of ok tasting fatty BBQ.
(2)Bobby S.
It was the service that really did this place in for me. The waitress was very slow and rude. The food wasn't all that great either. For me the ribs up the street at Texas roadhouse were a lot better.

I love Sonny's and I wanted to show my sisters why. Since we didn't get a chance to try it in Ocala or Sarasota, I decided to go here for our pit stop on our road trip. I ordered 10 pieces of chicken wings with Sizzling Sweet BBQ (think savory, sweet, and spicy...yum) and they were so good. The wings were cooked perfectly and my sisters loved it! I even bought a bottle back to make at home.

Service good. Food cold

HORRIBLE!!! My husband and I were traveling from Atlanta to Orlando on vacation and stopped in for dinner on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at around 5pm. We were not greeted when we walked in and had to wait several minutes to be seated. We were finally seated at the first table on the right just down from the hostess stand and salad bar. Which was also the main path the servers had to walk to get to the kitchen. So in other words we were in plain sight of all the servers. We literally sat at the table for 15 minutes and not one server stopped to get a drink order or even let us know that they would be right with us. (literally every server walked by us at least 3 or 4 times) The breaking point for me was when I noticed a group of the servers standing BEHIND our table talking and goofing off. My husband and I got up to leave and walked by the group as we exited the building and overheard one of the servers say "See ya!" and laugh loudly as we walked out the door. We went down the street to Texas Roadhouse and received the best service and a delicious meal in a timely manner. I have also contacted the restaurant directly but have not heard back from anyone....big surprise! Skip this place and go down the road to Texas Roadhouse. Much better service and smells MUCH better inside.

I live in Lake City and frequent our Sonny's BBQ once a month or so. In the past two years I've had at least 5 horrible take out experiences. Two of which I actually took the time to complain to the company. The first time was back in Jan 2010 and their response was a typical "we're sorry" and made a claim to follow up with management to resolve the issue. More recently I had almost the same issue and their response was the same. So I can only conclude that after more than a year with the same issue they did nothing to correct the problem. Here's my review. If you want enjoy Sonny's BBQ in Lake City - DINE IN ONLY. The food is usually good when I've dined in. Take out on the other hand is hit or miss. On the two occasions mentioned above where I bothered to contact them about being served dry/crumbling or more recently burnt ribs; both were take out orders. back in Jan 2010 I received the following dried and crumbling Sweet and Smokey ribs at this location yfrog.com/kkrzc4j more recently on July 3rd, 2011 I received some very burnt and not edible baby back ribs I received on July 3rd, 2011. yfrog.com/hsiqtydj So my advice is if you want take out. Double check it right at the window. And if it's not right get a manager then follow it up with an email to their corporate offices.

I really liked Sonny's. They have good food and service. They're pulled pork sandwich is pretty tasty. Their ribs are exceptional especially the dry ones. They have all you can eat ribs at a good price. I would recommend if you enjoy southern BBQ.

On a 1400 mile trip by car you have millions of options of the "chain" restaurants but one regional chain I highly suggest when you get into the SE USA is Sonny's. A true dedication to smokehouse pork and quality bbq sauces is what I'm most happy about. We stopped to sleep for the night on day 1 in Lake City, FL. (10/11/08) an after perusing the Yellow Pages, the minute I saw a Sonny's, I knew that's what we were having for dinner. MK and I both got the BBQ Pulled Pork Combo. The pork is smoked and slow cooked and extremely moist and tasty. We opted for the garlic bread bun which just adds that something extra to the sammy. You get your choice of one side (MK got corn, me, the mac and cheese) and a JUMBO drink (had to be about 48 oz). All of this for under $6.99 a piece! Sonny's is consistent (we've eaten several times at their Stuart, FL location) and I'll support most companies that sponsor IndyCar Racing as well! Not had a bad meal yet and this was a wonderful sight to see on the road up against the usual quick-serve fast food chains.

The all you can eat bar-b-q is great, but alas the food was just "ok". Not bad, but "buffet" or "cafeteria" grade. Service was great though. I'd still eat here again, but there are better bar-b-q spots.
