Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Im really glad I didnt see the yelp reviews before eating here. We were seated promptly and drink orders taken. Our server was very pleasant we ordered the Mexican pizza and sampler. The pizza was good nothing over the top and sampler seemed like standard bar food. For the main course my mother and sister had the cheese enchiladas, my father had the burrito espisal (Sp), my wife had the grilled steak tacos, and I had the Spicy shrimp and a chili relleno. The food came out hot, the enchiladas were a bit (bland but most cheese enchiladas I have had were) the rice was tasty but the Beans seem to be doctor up out of a can. My wife LOVED her tacos she said they were fresh and delicious and she is a very picky eater. My father ranted about his burrito... in a good way. My shrimp was nice and spicy some onions and peppers would have put it over the top for me and the chili Relleno was fresh and overflowing with cheese. To drink my mother and I Had a beer to start, then she had a coronarita which didnt wow her but she never had one before. I had a tequila sunrise and it was just right not super strong but you could taste it still and the glass was large. Overall this is a great little mom and dad restaurant. If you are looking for duck tacos with goat cheese and pineapple chutney go somewhere else. As for some of the other reviews 1.the chips and salsa we got where hot and fresh tasting. If they where from a bag it wasn't tosito's and pace salsa plus they where free, I have paid 6 bucks for worse. 2.I have never walked into a busy sub standard restaurant and this place was 2/3 full at 8pm on a Sunday night. One last thing. PLEASE don't take these reviews too seriously (including mine) there are too many self proclaimed food critic's and foodies who only like the newest fad. If I did I would have missed out on a great meal. Z

PLEASE STAY AWAY! Perhaps if we had come a different night or had a different server, we would've had a more pleasant experience. We had a young man who asked for our drink order (table of 6). We didn't even see our waters for another 15 minutes. I looked back at the kitchen and saw the drinks just sitting on the counter. He was nowhere to be found and we were his only table. When he finally brought them out, he forgot two of our drink orders. Chips came about 30 minutes after and we were told any extra would be an additional charge. Ridiculous for 6 people paying a $200 bill. During our time waiting for our food, we never saw the waiter on the floor. Instead, we got to hear the manager fighting with all of his employees and barking at them. One poor waitress was busting her butt getting to almost every table in there and doing a great job. What were the other 4 waiters doing in the back? Maybe they double as cooks, I don't know. When we finally got our food an hour later, the waiter completely forgot to put the order in of one of our guests. We had to wait while they hurriedly cooked another shrimp fajita meal. In the end, we were forced to pay an 18% gratuity because we were a party of 6, even though we saw the server all of three times. I will never go here again because I won't chance getting the other 4 waiters that can't do their job at a mismanaged establishment.

Great food! Got seated right away, food came quickly and service was excellent! Kids gave 3 thumbs up. They would like to come back. Too bad we're only here this week! A quiet gem of a find!

I really love this place! Every time I visit the Orlando area I make sure this is one place I always go to. Very tasty, very filling and great portions. The California burrito is so amazing!!

This place is meh. Food is not horrible but is just blah. Service was great: speedy and courteous. Portions are big.

The food was pretty good. Free margarita with checking in on Yelp. Chips and salsa were fresh. Great way to start a mini stay-cation.

My boyfriend and I were cruising around checking out the local restaurants and after an hour of driving around, we got to be pretty hungry. This wasn't our first stop, but Olive Garden and TGI Fridays had long lines. we saw this and thought we'd give it a go. Chips were good, salsa was definitely fresh, but WAY too tomatoey. And not spicey at all. It had good cilantro representation though, which was nice. I ordered Enchiladas and asked for steak instead of chicken. It was a 3/10 in my opinion. the cheese sauce did taste like it was velveeta or canned cheese. The red enchilada sauce as well as the beef were both lacking in seasoning. the red rice was good, and the refried beans were nice and thick. but they also had that cheese sauce on it. My boyfriend ordered steak fajitas. I tasted the meat and thought it was great. I wished they had put that steak flavor into my enchiladas. He on the other hand said that it was not seasoned well at all. He didn't like the salsa or the beans either. At the end of the night, I dropped $40+ for the two of us, and was disappointed over all. To the management of Rio: Fix the salsa, ditch the canned cheese, and use more spices!

Nothing special....I have had better Mexican food at every other Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at...Plus, the free margarita was a frozen margarita over ice. They told me that the machine did not crush it enough yet I was sitting looking at the smooth texture of the margarita in the machine and my girlfriends frozen margarita was perfectly smooth when it got to the table! Please eat somewhere else while you are on vacation in Orlando!

If I had read the reviews before going, we probably wouldn't have gone. Glad we didn't read the reviews first. GREAT service. Really good food. I did find it odd that the first basket of chips are free and baskets after that are $1. I suppose this keeps people from just eating chips but if you actually order an entree, chips should be free. Having eaten there now and reading past reviews they must've corrected all issues. I'd go back. It was a little pricey for Mexican food by $1 or $2 per plate. Otherwise, we had zero complaints.

Owe full food and drinks are made with ready mix with cheap alcohol ... Stay Away and find restaurant with better yelp ratings ..

Found this place via the entertainment book. Had the Burrito California with spicy green sauce. Actually pretty good. Also ordered the enchilada Tri-color. Unfortunately not nearly as good as the burrito California. The chicken enchilada was tasty, the red sauce on the beef enchilada was excellent unfortunately the cheese enchilada tasted like it was made from Velveeta cheese. The House Margarito was quite tasty.

RUN away! TERRIBLE service. AWFUL food. DIARRHEA results! Should have walked out when it took long to be seated, only 3 tables with people sitting at them. We were too hungry but won't let that happen again. Waitress rude, got one of our orders wrong (didn't dare say anything they would probably do something unthinkable to the food), waitress spent all her time cleaning tables that had no dirty dishes, no eye contact at all. Place had only one other customer by then. Vegetarian burrito and enchilada consisted of FROZEN broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, sauce was almost nonexistent and cheese hard to find on top all cold to lukewarm at best. For anyone who doesn't want any seasoning let alone spicy I suppose you may be able to swallow it. Truly did have diarrhea the next day, was awful as we were camping on vacation. Please stay away for your own sake!

Great service, lame food. Chips were pre made, salsa tasted like its from a jar so did the Guacamole. Enchiladas had almost no cheese and no flavor, had to use red salsa to make edible.
(1)Josh J.
The things I read in the previous reviews held true. The salsa was very tomatoey and hardly spicy or seasoned at all. My wife's taco and my chicken fajitas were pretty bland. The service was fairly slow and unresponsive even though we were the only customers in the restaurant at the time.

Tonight Baby Girl was hanging out with grandma. Wifey and I searched for a new place while avoiding the mall and outlet traffic. On 192 on mile marker 10 is Rio Mexican Grille. We were greeted by Linda when we walked in. She was very friendly and in a great mood. She walked us in and I was amazed by the size of this place. It's huge. Lily our server came to our table with our chips and salsa. This salsa was delicious. Not at all what you taste in other restaurants. Fresh cilantro in this salsa. @Tarajroth and I were very happy. Carnitas a la Michoacan with yellow rice and beans. Corn tortillas on the side. The onions on top of the pork made the flavors pop. I actually made a taco and added some of the salsa from the chips to the taco to make a perfect bite. Wifey @tarajroth ordered the Cheese enchiladas with yellow rice and beans. They come with two different sauces. Red and green. @Tarajroth decorated them nicely but unfortunately I didn't get a picture. These enchiladas were very tasty and cheesy.

There are a dozen different Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants within the Loop/Old Town Kissimmee area, and I've tried so many that I honestly can't remember one from the other. This place, by far, was the WORST MEXICAN RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO! It's luring, with it's giant sign out front and its nicely painted murals of tropical Mexico, its fully loaded bar, complete with big-screen TV, and small stage area where (I guess) they have live acts perform. That doesn't make up for the culinary slap-to-the-face they pass off as "authentic Mexican cuisine". Their service consisted of showing us our seats, taking our orders, serving us our food and never coming back to refill drinks or check to see if we needed anything but the bill. I can pass off bad service for good food, I've done it before, but the two went hand-in-hand in this case: Their $6 "queso" appetizer was a 4-ounce bowl of melted throw-together cheese dip, complete with dried sausage bits. My $13 chicken entrée (named something intricately in Mexican, hence my initial interest) was a butterflied, pounded out grilled chicken breast, with salt and pepper, complete with a scoop of pre-made rice and refried beans. My sister's "veggie burrito" was LITERALLY microwave bag-steamed broccoli/carrot vegetables wrapped in a flour tortilla and nothing else! No cheese, no beans, nothing! I think the best meal we ate from the place was dessert, which were cinnamon dipped tortilla chips, drizzled with honey and served with a scoop of freeze-burned vanilla ice cream, and we still ended up leaving hungry. I hate writing bad reviews. I hate being reminded that money traps like these still exist in the middle of the biggest tourist spots in Central Florida. Whether you're a local, hunting for something new, or a visitor, looking for a post-sight seeing dinner. AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT AT ALL COSTS! I highly doubt that you can find worse, and I hope nobody has to find out otherwise!

It was ok. They had good queso dip. Salsa was chunky and very oniony. Their chicken strips for their sampler plate was a breaded tyson chicken breast cut into strips. They give a lot of garnishes. Excellent guacomole. We got chimichangas. The were ok.

Service is good, nice and fast. The food is just okay, not a lot of flavor going on there. The place itself could use an update too.
(2)Mark G.
Excellent food, excellent value. Flores? was a wonderful waitress. Thankyou for a great dining experience.
(4)Katie B.
After failing to check out Yelp first, my boyfriend and I made the mistake of eating here (we were lured in by the big Free Margaritas sign). The service was crappy, the food was horrible, and apparently the margaritas are only free with fajitas (which they failed to tell us until we got the bill). Don't waste your time or money!
(1)Jim S.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE !!! This place offers "happy hour" margaritas at $5.50 for 2 drinks (and they're small). When you check out, they charge $6.50 for the pair! Chimichangas aren't fried, but covered with an oily film instead. The "salad" is a few scraps of lettuce to be used as garnish. Service is slow and unfriendly. Beware of this place when on Highway 192 (the tourist route) and eat somewhere else!

Well just like most who wrote a review, I wish I had checked yelp prior to my visit. This would have saved me money on an awful meal. First, upon entering the restaurant there was no hostess to greet or seat customers. After a few minutes we were finally seated. When we sat down my husband and I both looked at each other and said how hot it was. You would think that a restaurant in Florida in August would be nicely air conditioned. We ordered chips and guacamole, which were extra unlike most Mexican restaurants that provide chips and salsa as a complimentary app. The guacamole did not taste freshly made in house, rather premade. My husband ordered fish tacos, which were very bland, as well as the rice. He said the beans tasted like baked beans, not traditional Mexican retried beans. I had a taco salad with grilled shrimp. It was awful. It was very small. It was literally iceberg lettuce, 6 shrimp, sour cream, a scoop of guacamole, and gross cheese that was melted all over the bottom of the shell. After I had ate the shrimp and edible lettuce I was left with a goopy tortilla bowl. I called the waitress over and asked her to show the chef. She came back and offered me a new tortilla!??? She told me she couldn't take it off the bill. What a disappointment! In addition, the sign outside the restaurant said 2 for 1 margaritas. Come to find out that was per person- another words you couldn't split the margarita deal with someone else. Poor advertising! I'd give this place 0 stars if that was a choice. My husband and I couldn't remember the last time we went to such an awful restaurant. Save your money and go somewhere else!!!

If I would have read these reviews before going, I probably wouldn't have tried it, and I am so glad I didn't! The reviews are like lies in my opinion, the service was great, and quick, the food was outstanding! IF any previous reviews were true then, they are not now, maybe new management I don't know, but judge for yourself.
(5)Susan C.
Oh my god if I could give zero stars I would. The salsa is like watered down tomato paste. The "veggie fajitas" were microwaved steamed veggies thrown on a fajita skillet with NO seasoning (not even salt! no fajita seasoning, nothing!). The only good thing was how fast the waitstaff was so we could get the hell out of there asap. Should have Yelped it first...

Walked in hoping to find a great margarita menu and some tasty Mexican food. We were met with a ridiculously drunk patron in the bar area. When we asked the bartender if they had a special margarita; he looked at us like we had three heads. One would expect that a bar at a Mexican restaurant would at least be familiar with a margarita request. We considered eating dinner in the dining area but saw that it was completely empty at 6pm. Not a good sign when considering food freshness....we left.
(1)Ana P.
I didn't like it at all! My son didn't eat the taco, when I tried it I said: "No wonder you don't want to eat it!". I had the vegetarian fajitas and it was a frozen veggie fest. I had never had veggie fajitas with cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and string beans. I wouldn't go again!
(1)Carl Y.
Great service but sub-par food, poor margaritas, bad chips. Bummer. Tourist trap. Don't do it.
