Edit to my last post -- I have since been back to Rice and Beans Cocina Latina and my opinion has turned around! This is definitely a great spot if you're looking for affordable latin cuisine, offering some of my favorite selections. The staff is friendly and helpful. I brought a latin food rookie with me and they asked them questions to ensure they got entrees they would enjoy and told them not to be shy if there was anything they didn't love. I've tried a few different things now and definitely my favorite is the baked chicken with arroz y gandules and yucca. Give it a try when you have a latin craving. You won't be disappointed.

Server was friendly but somehow managed to mess up every aspect of our order. The food was ok once we got what we ordered. Nothing to rave about. Not worth going back.

Not bad,... the pulled pork was pretty juicy, and had rice and beans from the special buffet with plantains... Like another person reveiwing,.. I am not spanish so I do not cook this or eat it very often so I cannot say what is correctly done but,... I liked it!,..... I do wish there was a little less fat? juice to the equation,... I did hit my grease limit early even sharing with one of the kids,... and hubby finished it when I got home with the leftovers. He liked it too. Service was GREAT!!!

I stumbled upon this place a while back while out for a day of shopping. I have always been a fan of Cuban cuisine and decided to give this place a shot. I'm certainly glad I did because I was very pleased with experience overall. As soon as you walk in you hit with the most delicious smell! The place was clean, the staff was friendly, and the food was amazing! After pondering over their fairly extensive selection I landed on the yellow rice with pinto beans, baked chicken, and sweet plantains. I also ordered up a batch of tostones for good measure. The food was fresh and ready right away. They brought it all to my table with a smile. The rice and beans were flavorful and the plantains were caramelized to perfection. The chicken was the highlight of the meal though. It was so moist it fell right off the bone, it's some of the most tasty chicken I've ever had, and I'm a Kentucky girl! The tostones were also yummy and something I would definitely order again. It's the perfect little place for when you are hungry for something quick and not too pricey. I would recommend it to anyone who has a love for good Cuban cuisine and you can bet I'll be back there soon myself!

Let me just start off by saying that everyone in my house is a HUGE fan of rice. Coincidentally, we are also HUGE fans of Beans. So as we were driving through The Loop last week and happened to see a new restaurant called Rice & Beans Cocina Latina opening soon we were very excited! We could only imagine the possible types of rice, beans, or combination of both that they would serve. After a week of imagination temptation, we were finally able to get it, sit down, and enjoy what they had to offer. Unfortunately, all of our wishful wonders didn't live up to what we had hoped for..... The restaurant hasn't been open for long, so like any new location, they were training new employees. As a manager who trains new people all the time, I can completely look past any issues with service and new employees. That doesn't bother my wife or I one bit, because in the end, we just want the food. I ordered an Onion Steak Sandwich, and my wife ordered the Onion Steak House Specialty (yes we both like onions and steak too). My meal is served with fries, and the specialties are all served with rice, beans and plantains or yucca. My wife ordered the yellow rice, her favorite, and we both shared with our daughter. After a week of anticipation, they moment finally arrived to taste what Rice and Beans had to offer. But before I took my first bite I noticed something, or a lack of something.....seasoning. There were so seasonings of any kind on either of our dishes. No salt, no pepper, no spices, nothing. After a few ''Try it... you'll like it'' bites, we didn't. The food was bland at best. But we ate, because we were paying for it and I hate to see food go to waste. The positives of this location is the comfortable seating, nice dining music, and friendly staff. We never felt like we got a 'hurry up and eat' vibe from anyone. They do however need to fine tune the ordering/seating process. We were a little confused as to where to go. When you first walk into the restaurant there are stanchions set up for a to-go like area, seats directly ahead, and a cashier area to the front left. No one was at the front to greet us, so I walked to the cashier to figure out that I need to have someone seat us and give us a menu. Again, they just opened so I can easily overlook this stuff.....until next week. I don't like to sound like Negative Nancy, so with any new restaurant that I go to and don't like, I will always go back and give it a second try. Everyone deserves another chance.

I discovered this place accidentally while visiting some stores in the shopping plaza.I can tell you I am a fan of this place because the food is really good Spanish food and it comes in big portions. There is a yelp coupon that I used when I decided to check in and then I was surprised to have a coupon. The coupon is great because it gives you one free meal when you buy 1 meal. So definitely check in when you come here!

Rice and Beans is a restaurant located at "The Loop" in Kissimmee. The food is really good and the prices are reasonable. They have a quick-service hot food bar (easy for takeout) and you can also order off of it and dine in. They have a full menu as well - the food on the hot bar and on the menu is great!

Highly recommended - authentic Cuban food, very tasty, reasonably priced, friendly staff! If I lived in the area I would be a regular here!

Food is pretty good. The prices are fair. There does need to be a bit more order and connection with the customers. Ur market should be locals. Tourist are ruled by the economy. Locals let convenience and quality and practicality govern their plans. A consistent flow of regulars is important because word of mouth. It can make or break a business. I hope to use ur catering for my birthday party in April. If I have another event and I'm impressed I will definitely use u guys again.

I was surprised to read about bad service at this location. I experienced nothing but friendly and timely service. The choice between the daily special which offers a limited ready to serve menu, or to sit down and select from the menu was cool. I ordered the macitas de cerdo with arroz morro (fried pork chuncks and black rice/beans). The food was great but not the best I've had. Also their garlic mojo really needs a lot of work. It was way too watered down. I love sauces so that was disappointing. Overall I had a great experience and I would go back. If you are looking for some really good latin food, try Guavate! Alafaya Trail. As for Rice and Beans I would definitely come back. The prices are great and the food servings are good too.

I stopped by Rice and Beans in passing as we were looking for a place to eat on the way home. We thought a good Cuban sandwich would hit the spot but overall sub par. I'm not sure what the right way to make or have a Cuban Sandwich is but to me I feel like it needs to have the right ratio of meat. I felt that their Cuban had too much meat, specifically pulled pork that when it was pressed the center was still cold. I also felt it could have used a bit more mustard and pickles. It is a very large sandwich and you could easily share with someone. Sandwich also comes with a side a fries.

The food here sucks. The flavors were not good at all and they're overpriced. Most of the tables were dirty. If you want good hispanic food....go somewhere else.

I don't really know much about Latin american/Cuban food but this place is really good. My wife works close by so I come eat lunch with her occasionally and we often come here. They give quite a bit of food for the price so we end up splitting a meal and are both satisfied by the time we leave. Great value, would recommend this place to anyone in the area. I rate it 5 stars because it's pretty much the only Cuban restaurant I've eaten in that I can remember and I don't have any complaints about it at all.

I was in the mood for Spanish food and decided to try this location. I've been to the Waterford Lakes location for lunch and knew about the buffet/heated food upfront but I thought that was only during lunch. I was not in the mood for cold cafeteria food for our dinner. We opted for the media noches/half moon sandwiches because we thought they would make those fresh. Ordered a mofongo to share with croquetas de hamon and papa rellena. These were brought to our table with no addition al plates and no silverware. At least they were warm! Our sandwiches were greasy and lacked flavor. The fries were fine but the grease needs to be changed, lots of bits of old fried stuff on our fries. Our table was dirty and we had fruit flies around us. The mofongo was good but not worth poor the service and cafeteria food. Never returning to this establishment.

I was so glad to find a "Cuban" restaurant amidst a few expensive ones around town. Yelp couldn't take credit for this find, and the website was bad enough resulted in us driving aound for miles and back to the same shopping area. This was a mixture of Cuban, Puerta Rican, and Dominican foods. It was good enough the first time that we took another couple back in 2 days. As most reviewers had noticed, the service was not the great... it's spotty at best. And it was so ironic that they wanted mandatory service fee 15% for 4 people and 18% for 8. The fine print was on the menu. For starter, the service was very confusing. The setup was like a deli shop. I had to ask 20 questions to extract information from the wait staffs who didn't get it that moi no hablar Espaniol. The dinner special was the best deal overall in this touristic Florida. The items on the menu was way too pricey... over $12 each. If you imagine yourself in the food court of a mall, you would order the combo here... one rice, one starch, one meat, and one bean, for $8. I chose rice with black bean (4 choices), plantain first time and yuca second time, stew chicken first and stewed pork second (6-7 choices), and black beans (the other choice was yellow beans). The taste was slightly different than Mexican. As a matter of fact, there was no cheese or taco. Upon retry, the taste was quite bland if I removed the salty and greasy factors, with minimal flavor. We got filled quickly, leading me wonder how much lard did they use!!! The service was really ordinary... nothing outstanding about it. As a matter of fact, they forgot to bring the order of bean and we had to ask 2-3 times for it. So diners, I still liked it but it's only good for once every 2 years. And I don't like mandatory service fee (= laziness)

Great stuff, great prices, big portions! Got a huge meal for $7 lunch special. I'll be going back soon! I had yellow rice, black beans and roast pork which was cooked perfectly. Enjoy!!

Service was great, waiter even told us that their mofongo was the best in the area so that's what I ordered, I got the shrimp mofongo, I also had the marsico salad(seafood salad). The mofongo was very bland no flavor in it at all, the shrimp was over cooked, the mojo sauce tasted horrible, My friend ordered a stuffed chicken mofongo and they gave her a different sauce with hers also very bland and sauce was bad as well. Their seafood salad very bland just no taste. None of the food I ordered was good. Their fruit juice was good, I had the tamarind. I will not be returning to this place at all. Don't recommend.

It's taken me awhile to update this but I was yelping another restaurant and decided this was another restaurant I absolutely enjoy on a regular basis. They certainly do have tostones and a very tasty garlic sauce to go with them. I've probably eaten there about 3-4 times a month since my last review. They earn my 5 stars consistantly! Weird to see comments on their English... Every time I've gone in there the staff speaks amazing english. There are a few guys in there that seem really shy but I wouldn't rate the service bad by any means.

Blew me away!! My daughter and I ordered "media noche" sandwiches, pork or "pernil" rice, beans, sweet plaintains and we couldn't resist to top it off with a guava empanada. Oh! of course we had cafecitos. Nothing, nothing, dissapointed either of us. As a matter of fact, I can't wait to go back to Orlando so I can try more from their nice menu. Very personable help and at lunchtime it was packed by professional looking people that you can tell come here for workday lunches.

While not being an expert in Latin American cooking, I have to say that my House Special was wonderful. I asked the cook/server what was good and he suggested the stewed chicken, black beans, and yellow rice. For $9, you can't beat it. The special also comes with sweet plantains and a tossed salad.

The chicken on the buffet was only dark meat. (I wanted chicken breast) The female cashier made NO effort to help us with how things "worked," nor the menu. I was told we must order at the register and pay for the food first. I asked "so we cant sit down and have a waiter serve us? " She said no. The next issue is that if you dont want anything from the small buffet (hot plate) area, then you must order from their menu. For lunch, I was not trying to spend $11 + for each meal. I really like what this restaurant could be. Their food is really tasty, but I am just missing the other parts of making it a great place to patronize. There were no customers, a few came in as we left. Oh well, I tried.

Best place to eat at The Loop. A little cheaper than Chipotle and much tastier. If you're in the mood for Mexican or Cuban you have to try this place. It's obvious that they try very hard to make sure their food is the best possible quality and taste. I was surprised at how elegant and clean the restaurant is compared to other restaurants at The Loop. Today was my first time here but I will probably become a regular.

Just walking in the door you know the line up of food in front of you is going to be good and fresh. Friendly staff and great prices. My husband loves Cuban food and did not know know where to start!! He did a plate beef, Rice and beans, plantains and added a homemade tamale. He loved it!! I had the Cubano sandwich it had lots of pork and was very good. A great place!!

I came here on break from work, the staff was nice and took care of my needs, but the food was very low on the expectations scale. I ordered a chicken and cheese empanada and a Cuban tamale. Needless to say, they both were not up to par with what rice and beans claims their standards are. The tamale tasted like one I've had out of the Walmart frozen section. It was littered with little processed corn and what I can only make out to be pieces of ham. I was happy to know my empanada was coming fresh and happy to have something with flavor. When I got it, I cut into it to let some steam out, and it was like the turkey scene national lampoons. Only about a fifth of it had meat and cheese in it, the rest was just air. I don't suggest to eat here if you want your money's worth. I'll make sure to make the drive somewhere else. Oh and each of them were $2, I can get better prices and quality at a corner store in Kissimmee.

Absolutely delicious Cuban food! The yuca was soft and perfectly seasoned, the best I've had locally. Reminds me of my Puerto Rican Titi's cooking back on the island. Great location, good prices.

I've read some of the reviews here on Yelp -- I have to say, our service was fantastic. The prices are great here, and our food was delicious. I ordered the "pepper steak," and my mom ordered the roast pork. The pork skin wasn't crispy, but that was a small price to pay for everything else being so yummy. The rice and pigeon peas were especially great. Again, everyone was friendly, our drinks were constantly refreshed, and we had a great time. Looking forward to bringing friends back there.

I am here with my kids. Everytime I come here the food is consistently delicious and the staff is friendly and ready to please. I ate my usual Arros con gandules, maduros, and pernil, with red beans and a salad on the side. My kids both had a meat and cheese empanadas. They give 3 heaping scoops of rice, a generous portion of juicy meat, and flavorful beans. The maduros are always so sweet and crunchy on the outside. I always ask for their hot sauce which is more sour than hot but adds nice flavor and is a great contrast to the richness of the pork. My whole bill came to $12.72 which was super. You spend more than that getting junk food at a fast food spot so this to me is a much better alternative with a home cooked flavor.

Convenient location closer to home for latin cravings. Portions are huge and reasonable priced. Although I never finish eating that much food. Staff seems friendly most of the time. Food is a little salty sometimes but I guess that is normal for Latin cuisine. A lil quick food pick up spot! Yuca and plantains are delicious. Well recommended when shopping at the Loop.

Stopped in after a movie with a friend. Food has good flavor, was not served warm- yucca and maduros were sitting in the warmer and were scarce. The server had to be advised to get fresh yucca as there was just 1pc in the "warmer". Maduros were stuck to the warmer yet server did not offer fresh ones-she just struggled to peel them off and add them to the plate. There were beans offered but no beans in the warmer, just the sauce. Server went into the kitchen with my plate and a small bowl- after almost 3 minutes she returned with beans for us- not for the warmer (just bring it all out)-and "fresh" yucca, 2pcs-again, just for us none for the warmer and without the onions I had requested. Meat was cool as were the accompanied sides. When I reminded server of the onions she went in the back- after almost 3 minutes, reappeared with a cold little bowl and cold onions. This was a Tuesday afternoon and the place was pretty dead yet, the 2 counter servers and their not so pleasant personalities, seemed overwhelmed, not very bright and far from knowing minimal customer service.

This small, fast food type restaurant has friendly service and very reasonable prices. My dinner of roast pork, rice, black beans, and plantains was tasty. I knocked the rating down a star because my dinner was not (temperature) hot, but only warm, and the pork skin was tough and not crispy. Even so, if I were near the Loop again, I'd stop in for more meals.

I was so disappointed. I visited this restaurant during lunch time with my daughters and we will never be back. We ordered a mixta each so that we could try all of their different food. The ropa vieja was not tender and lacked authentic flavor, it almost tasted like it had been mixed with ketchup. The maduros were old, hard and not cook fully, the lechon (pork) was way too salty and the rice, what can I say, it was worst than everything else. I wouldn't recommend it.

You can't go wrong. Any time of comida criollo is always good. When ya walk in there is a buffet line were you pick your meats and rice. The staff is very friendly and will ask what you want and serve it to you. They are kind in offering what they have. If you have questions they will answer them for you. You then have a seat and they bring the food to your table. The food is good, but the staff are excellent. Lots of locals and tourist come here. Nice little place to come and hang out. Located in the Loop plaza.

My first visit here and I really enjoyed the friendly service. The food was a little bit too greasy for me and I'm Puerto Rican, a lot of our food is greasy. It was still good and I'd come back. The service however was what really impressed me. Very clean restaurant as well, nice ambiance.

I came into Rice and Beans last week with my mom and dad. We have heard that it's a really good restaurant so we decided to go check it out ourselves. When we walked in it was kind of confusing but then the guy at the bar explained if we wanted to order from the steam bar or take a sit. We ordered the special which was delicious only for 6.95!! and lots of food. I had yellow rice, black beans, and roasted pork. After serving the food they told us we can sit and that they would bring everything to the table and take our drinks. The service was really good. The waitress always made sure we were doing alright and kept our drinks full. I really liked the team work everything was organized and very clean. I also liked that the owner (I'm pretty sure she was the owner) walked by all the tables and made sure her customers were doing OK. Overall the food was wonderful and the service was great! I give rice and beans 5 stars and I recommend you try out this Latin restaurant. My parents and I were very satisfied. Definitely coming back!!!

We always go here when we visit Orlando. I am really suprised by all the negative reviews. The lunch specials are awesome! Also, the breaded steak dinner is AMAZING! Empanadas are all great - pretty much everything I have tried here has been wonderful. For the prices and service (which has always been outstanding) this place the spot for latin food. It's also very kid friendly and fast!

Not bad,... the pulled pork was pretty juicy, and had rice and beans from the special buffet with plantains...

While not being an expert in Latin American cooking, I have to say that my House Special was wonderful. I asked the cook/server what was good and he suggested the stewed chicken, black beans, and yellow rice. For $9, you can't beat it. The special also comes with sweet plantains and a tossed salad.
