Tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle of life, away from having to deal with other peoples kids. A getaway hotel. Surrounded with Lush gardens, the pool is an oasis of calm and ease.

We stayed here recently and were pleased by the friendly staff and beautiful accommodation. The breakfast was a very tasty continental meal with great croissants and other tasty items. Robin was super friendly and very accommodating. Rooms were spacious and bed was nice and firm. I would def come back !

Ok, this isn't really a review for the Gardens Hotel. But it is a review for their sunday night Jazz and the wine bar they have tucked into the back. I didn't stay here but as I wandered around on my last trip to Key west I saw a sign outside this place about having Jazz on sunday nights. So on sunday night we went. There was a nice quartet playing out in the garden. What is neat about this hotel is there is a huge history about how the original owner built up this huge garden by buying neighboring lots and expanding the garden on to them. There used to be a huge orchid collection here as well and some part of it remain. The other fun thing is other musicians showed up as the evening went on and joined it. A second singer was in the audience and was just chilling but the quartet talked her into doing a couple of songs and it was great fun. The other neat thing, is they have a wine bar. So it was a chance to sit out, listen to some music in a beautiful garden and just chill with some wine. The wine bar is one of those nitrogen rigs where they'll sell by the glass or bottle. It can be fun to get glasses or half glasses of a different things as the night goes on. Check the other reviews about staying there, but try the jazz on sunday no matter where you are staying on the island.

I recently stayed at the Gardens Hotel and I will definitely be staying here every time i go to Key West. Elegance meets comfort and Keys spirit in this place. A great place to spend your days while at steps from Duval street. Highly recommended.

We loved Everything about this wonderful find! If you are looking for wonderful accommodations, great food and close (as in walking) proximity to Duval Street...this is the place!!!

My husband (then bf) brought me here for a weekend getaway. It was also my first time in Key West. The property is just so beautiful and close to everything. The gardens are quaint and we loved the little water fountains everywhere. It is truly paradise. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They have sunday night jazz which was an added bonus. The pool and hot tub were amazing. I loved having breakfast outside. They had a variety of juices and fresh fruits. Being an animal lover I loved the cat that was there as well. I made my husband promise to bring me here every anniversary. That's how much we loved it.

One of my favorite places I've ever stayed. My girlfriend and I stayed in cottage 1 and it's beautiful. The entire property is amazing, I'm so glad we found this hidden gem. Staff is awesome. Go try Jeff the bartenders famous piña colada, you won't be disappointed! Wine tasting to relaxing by the pool. Bed was extremely comfortable. We met the owner and she was super nice. When we checked in Nancy and the GM gave us a glad of champagne. It was just an awesome all around experience and walking distance to all the craziness on Duval st. We will definitely be back soon!

Wonderful hotel, one of the best places I've ever stayed! I only stayed one night but wish I had planned for three in this hotel. Most times hotels are just a place to sleep but this place is so cozy I would enjoy just spending the afternoon lounging around like I'm at home.

Lovely historic hotel in key west. Great location, great staff, great wine selection and amazing live piano performances by their own musical genius. Wish we could have stayed longer.

We love the Gardens Hotel! We've been coming here about yearly for the last 5-7 years. The things that keep us coming back: -Rooms are beautiful, tropical style, comfortable not stuffy. -Pool area is a mini paradise (although I really miss the hottub that used to be there) -Included breakfast (although it's changed numerous times over the years -from various buffets to a la carte- and is currently at its most sparse) -Close location to Duval St (but still quiet) -d'vine wine: serve your own wine by the glass Although we've always had pretty good service at the Gardens, our expectations were pleasantly exceeded by Ken who was there during our stay this time. He helped us get bikes, a fantastic kayak tour, dinner suggestions, etc. He was so friendly and helpful and was a big part of the reason our vacation went from good to great! A couple things that Gardens Hotel could do better (IMO): recognize their repeat guests, offer more breakfast options (particularly fresh cooked options), keep the pool and pool area swept (there was a lot of plant debris around which is not the norm there), bring back the hottub! We will almost definitely stay there again when we return!

YELP HELP! FYI, I would be strongly suspicous of any 5 star reviews dated in the month following 9/24/13. They sent out a an email asking for Yelp reviews -- in exchange a random winner will be selected to win a 3 night stay.

Lovely place. Great service and great location. The rooms are well maintained and the pool and garden area follow suit. Unfortunately, the hot breakfast was disappointing. It wasn't hot at all. When I provided feedback about it, I was explained that it was made earlier today and kept "hot" until served. So, I'm guessing it's not made "on demand" as I had come to imagine. It used to be a lot better, though. It's a shame. Other than this issue, the gardens is just amazing. A bit on the pricey side, considering the breakfast situation. As a plus, though, the manager an staff are very friendly and accommodating to whatever I needed. Wifi was a no go throughout my entire stay. The from desk person at check out was not as guest-centered as the rest of the staff. Perhaps she needs to slow down and pay attention to the guests in front of her? Parking is available at an additional charge and spots are limited. Not sure it's worth $20/night, when other similar hotels offer it at no cost. Still, not the end of the world.

All I can say is this place is awesome....comfy bed, free breakfast. Gorgeous grounds. Awesome staff

This is an absolutely wonderful place to stay! An Oasis of calm a block off Duval, right in the Middle of the action. Not kid friendly, its 16 and over to stay, so not good for the family vaca, but for a quiet getaway it is perfect. Pool is open all night and heated. I love coming back from a night on Duval and swimming a few laps. Grounds are beautiful, hotel is immaculate, Room is very nice (low on drawer space but didnt bother me) Temperpedic beds are awesome...i have one at home and it so nice to have one when traveling for a change. Staff is SO NICE ... Just a great place. I'm four days into a ten day stay and couldnt be happier.

If you are traveling to Key West and you want a unique experience please consider this awesome bed and breakfast. This is really more of a hotel then B&B, each room is carefully decorated and detailed- marble bathrooms and enormous, comfy beds. My wife and I traveled here for a vacation while we were still dating and had a outstanding week. We chose the Garden based on a recommendation by Conde Nast and Fodors. This honestly is among the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at and I travel 60+ times a year and live in hotels. The pool and gardens are very well kept (check out the tortoises!) and great to relax in after hitting Duval Street, the beach, or any of the other nearby destinations. Parking is available and since they are located near everything you can pretty much walk everywhere. I would recommend going to Hemingway home, Honda Bahia State Park ( just south of Marathon Island), and eat at the Flaming Buoy. All can be found on Yelp or a good travel guide. Finally, the Dry Torgtugas is a must if you want some adventure. If you do decided to make the trek, be sure to get you reservation way in advance as they have limited availability. You will not be disappointed. I felt prices were very reasonable considering the level of quality everything was. This place would be over a $1000 bucks a night if it were in Hawaii. Enjoy and thanks for making our vacation awesome!

Charming place. One of the cleanest in the area. Staff was great, Wine bar was a wonderful surprise and pool area was a southern charm. definitely an oasis. HOWEVER, (I wasn't going to say anything, but I went to them personally, and nothing was fixed...or even attempted to be changed.) BREAKFAST IS AWFUL! We justified the price of the room thinking the breakfast would be amazing like the place. NOT. The worst in my life. The continental part of it was ok, but the hot breakfast you can order, disgusting. Day 1: Toasted english muffin topped with egg and cheese. Sounds simple right? It came out like a mound of melted cheese on an english muffin. Muffin not toasted, the only egg was a few pieces of chopped hard boiled egg in melted cheese. It was gross. The yogurt martini had been sitting in the fridge for a while as the granola was very very moist. Day 2: Key Lime French Toast. Sounds harmless right? It was if they dipped the bread in batter for 1 quick second and dropped it in a fryer the night before, put key lime flavoring on top, stuck it in the microwave and served it to you. bread was dry on the inside and it was pathetic. Unfortunately, this part of the experience is what we are walking away with. when someone says how was the Gardens Hotel.....we say nice, but the breakfast was etrotious. It was actually an insult and slap in the face to anyone that has the money to afford to stay there. Like they won't notice? really. Totally insulted. Don't let breakfast ruin your business that you have worked hard to build. You would be better off not offering the hot breakfast.

I could have stayed here for weeks, unfourtantly our stay was much shorter. This place is great if your looking to relax. Im pretty type A and it can be hard for me to kick back by choice but this place forces it upon you. The rooms aren't big but are gorgeous and everything is quality. Excellent breakfast in the morning and an amazing "wine bar" that dispenses wine at all hours of the day. This is the place to stay in Key West.

We stumbled upon this place by accident. We were being spontaneous on our vacation and didn't book a room in Key West. I was calling all hotels frantically trying to find something before we were stuck sleeping in the car for the night! We stopped at the vistor's center and they told us about the availablity at The Gardens Hotel. The only room they had left was the 2 bedroom/2 bath suite, so we took it. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. The grounds were beautiful and our room was awesome. There was even a sauna in the room. That was our first night in Florida and everything went downhill with hotels from that point on...we should have stayed longer at The Gardens Hotel!!

Awesome boutique hotel that I found on trip advisor. We opted for the eyebrow cottage and it was well worth it. The grounds are beautiful and there are only 17 rooms total so the pool is never crowded and there are no kids running around. Plus it's right off of Duval, so you can stumble home pretty easily. We loved this place so much that we tried to have our wedding here, but they were so unaccomadating for the wedding that it wasn't worth the headache. Still, I would go back for a vacation without hesitation.

A parking spot in Key West? Unheard of...looks like the start to a beautiful stay. We walked inside the Gardens resort to be greeted with sparkling wine and a warm smile, I like this place already. It took minutes to check in and we were off on a tour of this quaint yet majestic inn. The condition of the inn is immaculate, everything looked perfect. There is even a station where you can slide in your assigned card and sample the wines they have to offer, a do it yourself wine tasting, I had never seen such a device but it is right up my alley! The rooms were very well put together each different and stunning in their own way. The beds were very comfortable and waking up to actual roosters just added a pep in my step for the rest of the day. There is something about waking up to nature as oppose to the retched sound of an alarm clock that makes you so much happier that you have to be up early. I scurry down quickly to their breakfast because my favorite part of any hotel is their buffet breakfast and it did not disappoint. Can this resort do no wrong? They had a good array of pastries, breads, yogurt and fruit. You could even request their egg special of the day. Yummy! However what I was most impressed with at the resort was the people who worked there, everyone from the gardener to the bartender to the owner was genuine, friendly and very informative of what we should do at Key West. I can't wait to come back here again!
