Duffy's is off the beaten path (Duval Street) so it is nice place to go to get away from the tourist crush that is Duval. I have eaten here twice and both times had the same dish. Decent atmosphere and a salmon dish with dill butter that is very tasty. The hostess seemed a little miffed at us coming to eat there in our very casual summer shorts, but I'm on vacation so I don't have to dress to impress.

A very nice atmosphere. Low key locals work here. my seafoood medley was perfect. Lobster, dolphin, and shrimp cooked to perfection. The vegetables were perfectly aldente. My husband had the stuffed shrimp. He was expecting a much larger shrimp and less breading with more blue crab. He was also desiring a spicier seasoning. I however thought it was what menu stated. If you want spicier I sugest going to a cuban or Mexican style restIraunt. Overall very good. I would come back.

The food was pretty good here. Than God we were staying next door. Major food coma.

Just OK. Was excited to eat here because it was off Duval and its hustle and bustle. Big mistake. Service was ok and food was meh. Overpriced and bland. Lobster had no taste and steak was under cooked.

Perfect place for good food and a good time! Excellent food and great service!!!! Yum!!!!

Uninspired restaurant food that could be found in any state. Save your money and invest in one if the better "local" spots for a good meal. Not terrible, just nothing special.

So this place used to be a bordello, well at least that's what some local told me.. There were no hookers here this time, but definitely decent surf and turf. I was surprised and kinda excited to see dolphin on the menu. However after discussion, soon came to realize that this was some type of fish and not one of flipper's cousins. Too bad, I would have like to have put that on my "have eaten" list My prime rib and lobster tail was delish. My Gf wasn't too satisfied with her seafood pasta dish. It was a little less flavorful then expected. This was my first culinary stop in Key West and also the first chance to try conch fritters. I was disappointed to say the least. Considering how big those damn things are, I was expecting a mouthful of tasty sea snail. Instead, I got a mouthful of fried batter, with a little bit of a snail morsel. Not happy. I had to cure my conchie cravings elsewhere on the island.

Front desk attendant recommended this restaurant as serving one of the best steaks in town ... Wow! This was the WORST steak I've ever had! I asked for Duffy's Specialty Teriyaki marinated steak, cooked medium term but received a well done steak: burnt on one side no less! I took two bites and the burnt taste was sickening! Could not eat it. The waitress was really nice about the whole thing and only charged me for my drink and the soup I ordered. The conch and lobster tomato bisque was ok but I'm never coming back to this place and definitely not recommending it to anyone. Epic fail!

Loved it - the Lobster was delicious! Cannot wait to go back next month :)

"Conch fritters" = conch-inspired fried cornmeal. If it wasn't for the excellent whole lobster (market price), I'd give this tired joint one star. They're a perfect candidate for Chef Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares.

Well the food was okay, don't order beef products here if you live in the Midwest because it will be very disappointing to you! The lobster and shrimp was okay, the staff was not the best. They were often found just standing around chatting when we needed something. The prices were high for the quality of the food. I probably would not go back again but it was worth a shot!

Very impressed by this restaurant! Duffy's has a very comfortable and casual atmosphere that was very relaxing. They have a great variety of foods to choose from, including lobster, steak, mahi, and fish. The beer, wine, and specialty drink menu was also quite extensive. The staff was very knowledgeable, I tried the "Chocotini" by our waitress' recommendation and was VERY impressed. I ordered the chicken alfredo and was very happy with the portions and the price. A fantastic restaurant if you are looking to relax! Great atmosphere and accommodating, knowledgeable staff.

Worst service I have ever had in my life. My friends lobster was rotting... It was terrible. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!

Had the tenderloin strips and they were so tender and full of flavor. The fries need a little more flavor. Good food and good service.

Bad quality food and worst business practices. I rarely write reviews but when I do it is either because of great service or bad service. Save your money and avoid frustration while on vacation by avoiding this place.

We ate here the first week we moved to Key West and were blown away by the fish sandwich. The BEST in the Keys! Fresh large mahi fillet with grilled mushrooms on a homemade roll - pure heaven. We used to think "fish sandwich" meant a fast-food greasy square of chopped fish on a hamburger bun; how wrong we were! Best lunch ever.

Quick tip: lower your expectations!!! Below average food, unenthusiastic service and cramped Denny's style booths made this key west restaurant passable at best, and certainly not one I would recommend or visit again. Framing: We were on vacation and drove to Key West for a quick day trip from Ft. Lauderdale. Appetizers, entrees, and ice tea came to about $70, including a 15% tip (much less than my normal, but more than the lackluster service and surley manager deserved....) I had 5 stuffed shrimp that I am almost certain came in a box labeled TGIFridays. This was paired with a huge mound of green beans to fill the plate. While waiting for the shrimp, I ate a can of lobster bisque soup the cook barely heated. My other half had a steak that was $24 and looked like a pork chop. It tasted like it was cooked from frozen and he could not finish it. Trying not to waste money completely, we cut the steak up and put it in a cup for our dog, Cookie. The dog ate one chunk and would not eat the rest! I am totally serious here!!! He loves steak and human handouts but rejected this steak! Even he could tell it was frozen! We told our waitress the steak was bad and she offered to talk to the manager, who she pointed out was the surley looking woman we had seen walk in a few minutes earlier. Not surprisingly, the server came back and said she could do nothing about the steak but could offer us free desert. Afraid they would bring us an apple pie from mcdonalds or a store bought cherry pie we passed and just paid our bill. Overall, this place had ponderosa quality food with prices of a good steakhouse. Think $70 for steak and shake! If that's cool for you, then duffy's is the place to go. If not, drive a little outside of key west and go to a real restaurant. Or just go to McDonalds!

My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner here. The jumbo shrimp scampi was delicious.

We were recommended this restaurant by one of the guides in Key West. The food was ok...nothing really special about it and a little pricey for the food that we ordered. We had fried alligator bites which were breaded a little to much and I had the chicken and mashed potatoes which were average. Not really impressed but it was a decent dinner.

    (3)
  • Kraig S.

    Steak and Shrimp were excellent

    (5)
  • H K.

Perfectly passable surf and turf in many variations. Prices are reasonable by kw standards. The fish special was just a slab of fish on a plate and a total rip. The meat dishes plenty and well executed. Altogether not stellar but not as bad as past reviews would have you believe. Drink and wine list lacks imagination. Make sure you ask for the local price.

  • Craig W.

Service was great. Price was affordable for the portions. We had steak, shrimp, fritters and chicken ceaser salad and it was great.

    (4)
  • A H.

Average food. The steak wasn't trimmed very well and my well done was very pink in the middle. The scampi was drowning in butter which ruined it for me. Not terrible but I wouldn't go here again.

It's called Duffy's LOBSTER and Steak house. Went there to get lobster and the didn't even have any! Are you kidding me- no lobster at a lobster house!! I settled for a prime rib which was good, but the broccoli was significantly under cooked and seamed as if was thrown in the microwave because some parts were hot, others weren't even warm.

  • Jeffrey B.

Had dinner at Duffy's on Christmas Eve. Restaurant was uncomfortably crowded. However, I had exceptional service (Alexandra)...fast, attentive, very pleasant and friendly. The meal was very good...prime rib was very flavorful and done exactly as I ordered it. Got a free piece of Key Lime Pie to boot! I'd go back in a heartbeat!

This is a casual, semi-out-of-the-way place near Duval - come in shorts/jeans. The decor is...steakhouse meets Key West - which is, I suppose, just right. While there, I had a delicious (!!!) filet mignon - tender, buttery, cooked perfectly to order. I mean YUM. I can't even remember what side I had - fries, I think. Which were quite good, probably, if the steak's any indication. I'd certainly recommend the filet, in any case. Mmmmmmmm.

Decided to try this restaurant out this past weekend on our first trip to the Keys. Although we couldn't find any reviews we had passed the restaurant many times while exploring Key West and thought it looked like a nice place to try out for dinner. We were a little worried when we got there to eat and the dining room was fairly empty. The food, however, was good! Our party all ordered various steaks and everyone was satisfied. These weren't the best steaks we've had by any means, but certainly good and on-par with the steakhouse chains (Outback). The only bad thing is that they charge for refills on all drinks except Iced Tea and Coffee, and the drinks still cost almost $3 for a Coke.

It's worth it to walk a block off of Duval St. for this casual sit down establishment. The food is hometown cooking good. I had the special - a generous portion of well prepared salmon in a lime butter and dill sauce. They wisely put the lime sauce around and not on the fish so you could season it to your taste. It was very good, although the side of rice pilaf was a little too salty. The other member of my party had a huge bowl pasta alfredo that she said was good (I didn't taste it.) Other notes: service was a little curt but acceptable; 8pm it filled up with locals; limited beer selection.

  • Naygie R.

Was recommended by hotel. Was not impressed. 7 fried shrimps for $20 were a real disappointment. Kids were not impressed with their meals & steak was under seasoned...overall, there's much better @ the key.

The food was great and not to pricey. The service was alright. It should have been better and faster. They serve very good split Florida Lobster. Yum!!! I definitely recommend it.

I was looking forward to try this restaurant because i was craving for some lobster. We stepped in for lunch, we ordered a Duffy burger, a prime rib, boiled lobster tail, in addition to 3 drinks. I'm sorry to say this, but everything is over cooked. Prime rib suppose to be medium, came out well done. Burger situation is worse, medium rare came out to be super well done hard and dry. Lobster tail is so dry and hard I have to use steak knife In order to cut it.... And my frozen lemonade is basically a glass of ice with minimum flavor. Some good things about this place is the restaurant is clean and since everything was overcooked the fires is very crispy. So I only giving it a two star.

  • J. S.

Good location off the main hustle and bustle of Duval, walking distance. Not a true steak house but still decent food. Basic at best but I would still return nonetheless. Decent prices. Had the prime rib which was again basic, also had the key lime pie-tini which was average at best. Service was good and attentive though.

  • Kelly M.

Don't waste your time or money. Food was tasteless and not fresh. Even steamed broccoli was bad. Seafood pasta dish was very bland. I only ate the fish and shrimp out of it. Prime rib was just ok. Lobster tail tasted as if came out of bag from store. Very rubbery. Never again. Live and learn.

    (1)
  • Nancy I.

Very disappointing. I wanted to have lobster tail, but was told there was nothing fresh, would have to have frozen one prepared. Very disappointed to hear this. However after taking a few more minutes to look at the menu, I spotted a summer seafood pasta dish, which sounded really appealing- pieces of shrimp, fish and seafood, in olive oil and garlic. However meal was not as advertised, it came smothered in some sort of butter and cream sauce. I'm really tired of having meals come out swimming in sauces. Where is the finesse and simplicity of true flavours which come from good fresh produce and a few well chosen ingredients without the fat, high calories and cholesterol glogging sauces? I don't recommend this place sorry. It's was just an epicurean refuelling station.

Really enjoyed the food... I'm glad I don't have anything bad to say about the food. I enjoy it, the service was fast & my glass was never empty.

Conch fritters and buffalo shrimp apps were great. Service was very attentive. The onion rings that came with one of the fish entrees were phenomenal!

Great service! The food was good definitely had better. They didn't have cheese to put on a baked potato which was weird to me. Other than that, I'd go back.

Great dinner. Prime rib was beyond outstanding. My friend had a blackened yellowtail and it was equally outstanding. Can't wait to come back- probably tomorrow !

Ordered Jumbo fried shrimp. The 7 Jumbo Shrimp were good , the price was a little high 19.99. Clam chowder was also good. Bar tender could have been a little more friendly. Restaurant was clean and service was good as well. Nice place to dine.

Amazing food and great service!!!!!!!! The staff is super friendly!!!!!!!! There is absolutely nothing to complain about. We loved it and we will definitely come back. We had a great time. Thank you! We highly recommend this restaurant.

Come hungry, leave happy. The Blue Cheese dressing on the salad was amazing. We ordered the Prime Rib and Lobster tail for one entree, the other entree was the Florida Lobster Tail. Both lobsters were cooked perfectly, the prime rib was very tender, and a perfect medium rare. Only complaint: no cheese/bacon for the baked potatoes. I mean come on, this is still in America right?!? Other than that I have no complaints, and everything else was good enough to help me get over the lack of bacon. Service was quick and friendly, great atmosphere, highly recommend coming here while you're in Key West.

Duffy's is known for their Prime Rib, Steaks and Lobster which are excellent. The reason I rated 3 star is because the sides are nothing special and typical. Also the appetizers have very small portions for the price an example is the Buffalo Shrimp appetizer is $8.99 and came with 5 shrimp. The baked potatoes are very small and the bread they serve complimentary is definitely not baked fresh in house. If you want a good Ribeye or Prime Rib etc. Go but don't expect much else to be anything more than ordinary.

    (3)
  • Juan B.

I ordered the lobster soup and a lobster tail with potatoes. The lobster soup was AMAZING. Too bad it wasn't a whole lot. A highly recommend it, it is very creamy. The lobster tail is hollow inside, the meat is on top but for the price, it definitely was very little meat. For the price, they could've served more, that's why I gave it 4 stars.

  • Virgil N.

The staff were pleasant and restaurant clean. The drinks were horrible but the food got worse. I asked for a T bone blackened and what I received was a 3/4 inch piece of ?? burnt beyond description. Skip the steak tenderloin tips as well. With so many great places to eat.... Definitely skip DUFFYS

Duffy's was wonderful! We saw the restaurant from our trolley tour through the city and thought we'd check it out for dinner. I had the teriyaki marinated beef tenderloin tips and vegetables and it was delicious. Everyone in my family enjoyed their meals. We had Sarah for our waitress and the service was great. I would recommend this restaurant to others and will visit again when I make it back to Key West.

First time in Key West and got recommended by the visitor center. Very happy with the quality of the food and enjoyed it a lot. Everything tasted great. The portions were large enough to share a main course (which we did). Also got drinks, appetizer, and a free slice of key lime pie (coupons for this are readily available at the welcome center).

Three words OH MY GOD. Amazing Prime Rib and spicy conch chowder. I am a local and i go here once or twice a month. The prices are reasonable and you get a TON of food!! The servers are soo friendly and make sure that you are completely satisfied. If youre coming on vacation or you live here in key west GO HERE!!

It's just ok. Service was a bit lacking. Prime Rib was good. Salads good. Broccoli..horrible! How do you mess up broccoli? Key lime was was good.

  • Marianne C.

Meh! I was dying for lobster and it was very disappointed as it was tasteless and rubbery. The atmosphere is more like a diner and a bit noisy. The service was good though. Overall I'd say this was an acceptable dinner experience but I'm not dying to go back.

  • Cynthia P.

I wish I could give this place a better review because, for the record, the food was really pretty good, and for Key West it's hard to beat the prices. Unfortunately, the service was lacking for us, and I noticed the same for a table seated near us. Basically, we were seated..and then waited, and waited for our server to come over. She came over, took our drink order, and we waited, and waited. Bear in mind that by the time she came over to take our drink order, we had already decided on an appetizer. So by the time she brought our drinks back we knew what our entire order was going to be, including our appetizer (conch fritters-love them, and haven't had them in a long time). My husband and I both ordered the 8 oz. prime rib with a 6 oz. lobster at $36 each (again, smokin' deal down here). We received our salads, and they were good enough...fresh...but no appetizer. I mention to my husband "shouldn't we get the appetizer BEFORE the salads?" hmmmm....yes...oh yes, and the entrees came with warm bread, quite tasty. Then our entrees came out..still no conch fritters...but I had also ordered my baked potato loaded, which usually means butter, sour cream AND BACON, AND CHEESE. Guess what was missing? Also, our lobsters were served without drawn butter...I mean, that's a pretty serious gaffe, all things considered. Lobster, without drawn butter-served at a LOBSTER house? HOWEVER, the prime rib was good and medium rare just the way I ordered it, and the lobster was good too. Maybe just a little overcooked, but still OK...no reason to send it back or anything. We never did get our appetizer..and I was really disappointed because I wanted those conch fritters. It wasn't on our bill, so no issue there..but still I wouldn't rate this place a 5 by any means....COULD possibly have pulled a 4...maybe.. a 3, if considered A-OK is a little over the top even. The food is good enough, the price is right, but the service was disappointingly lacking - not horrible-and by no means unfriendly (our server was quite friendly) - but lacking. If the service had been stepped up, this would have been an easy 3 maybe 4. So my advice to you would be to GO ADEAD AND GO - but don't expect to be overwhelmed with awesome-ness.

Duffy's was recommended by the visitor center. Unfortunately they have there own meaning how to cook steaks. We ordered salomon and steaks (all medium) and getting an overcooked salmon, one steak well, one rare and one nearly medium. I complained about mine. After ten minutes I get the new one - medium rare, chewy and salty. Once again I complained about this and the answer was ' we don't know what you want'! The best thing was, i didn't have to pay for it. Never again!

Location: next to the center of activities. Setting: comfortable. Good: generous. Recommendation: Alligator tail is good to start. Parking: free parking on the street, but it is challenging to find a spot.

  • Triona L.

We went there for a late lunch/dinner hoping for lots of seafood. We were a bit disappointed to find mostly warm water lobster and a small selection of other seafood. The food was pedestrian and something you could find in another city. We didn't really enjoy it much, but it filled our bellies. Our server went out and took a smoke while she was waiting for our food to cook. The concierge at our hotel recommended this place and we probably will not be coming back again.

    (3)
  • Christopher C.

So this place isn't a Morton Steak House, but you also aren't paying for that either. Food is edible and priced right. The Prime Rib is excellent. Everything else is ok. Service is acceptable.

Conch soup was excellent prime rib was good There were six in are party the night We were there. Everyone was satisfied with their meal.warm loaf of bread. Yummy.

Went to Duffy's a couple days ago based on a recommendation from 'Dave' whom we met in our Hotel pool, and since he was a regular we figured he knew. Were seated right away and I ordered the Steak and Shrimp and it was amazing. Others in my party had Teriyaki Chicken, Tenderloin Tips, Shrimp. For desert we all had Key Lime Pie. Food was REALLY good, and the price was reasonable. In the heart of Key West near Duvall street, if you are visiting the Keys, I highly recommend this place.

    (4)
  • Michael R.

We walked in at 8:30 pm with no res. and were seated right away. The service was great as was the food. All four of us ordered fish. The food was promptly served. Life is great.

  • Andrea S.

Nice decor, quick and attentive service. Had the conch fritters, stuffed mushrooms and rice pilaf. Also, key west cocktail which tasted like a sunrise would taste. A lot of choices of food were surf and turf. Would give 5 stars if food had more flavor.

    (4)
  • Andre S.

Everything was very good. The only issue we had was when I finished my Pink lemonade the waitress came over with some sort of tea and refilled my glass. I asked what it was as I had been drinking something else, she then gave me a glass of the correct beverage.

    (4)
  • Jason T.

Yeah, this place just disappointed. The lobster was completely over cooked and the steak was too. Did not enjoy the ass raping I got for this meal.

    (2)

Service was friendly, food was so so and waiting time was very long. I think they should add a little more options to the menu.

We hit this place on our first night in Key West. Food and drink we both delicious. Started with a Key Lime pie-tini - it was quite tasty. We both ordered seafood (snapper and a mixed grill with shrimp, mahi mahi and lobster). The salad that came with it exceeded my expectations. It was super fresh and was pretty substantial. We ordered key lime pie and cheesecake for desert (which we took back to the room and ate later - it was still delicious). Staff was very pleasant.
