Great motel to stay in while in Key West. One block off Duvall street and the Southernmost Point in the USA. Short bike ride to the beach,Hemingway Home, Butterfly Sanctuary and food and entertainment on Duvall. Rooms were up to date w/flat screen tv and were very clean. Nice pool and very reasonable rates. Staff was nice and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a medium priced room in KW.

Nice place. Rooms relatively large, comfortable and clean. Includes small refrigerator and microwave. Also there was some microwave popcorn - although one of our party microwaved it and nearly started a fire. I wouldn't rule out operator error - I'd bet it on it though. Breakfast is pretty carb laden, but decent. Includes apples and bananas - but no citrus fruit. Nice location. Wifi worked fine except for first night - bad storm.

With so much to explore in Key West, you don't find yourself camped out at the hotel. That's why the Blue Marlin is perfect for a group of college kids looking for an affordable spring break option. Between all of us we had three rooms and I was surprised that all of them were different and not too happy ours was the smallest. During the days, the pool makes for an easy option but it's location also makes it prime for going to the beach. When it's time to go out, the motel's proximity to Duval Street is ideal. So for the four nights I spent here I really do not have any complaints. The crowd was a lot of spring breakers but also older couples that didn't seem to mind. When looking for an easy option next time I am staying in Key West, I would definitely come back here.

Great location and fair price. Room is not "fancy" but very clean and roomy.

what a cute hotel. i love the retro neon look. the staff is awesome, especially the front desk (sarah). so helpful. i would stay here again in a heartbeat !!! located in a great area, 1 block from the butterfly conservatory & the southernmost point. this is NOT in the crazy drunken area of key west (and glad it isn't) !!!!

This place is a real gem. It's a basic two story 50s style motel, although we ended up with a room that was in a separate outbuilding in the back. It may be a former garage. I was a little apprehensive at first because the stairway to the room was behind the building and looked like a good spot for a mugging, but it turned out to be very well lit, and the neighborhood seems quite safe. The room itself was a very nice surprise; it was actually more like a one bedroom apartment. The hotel is in a great location about 4 blocks from the Southernmost point, and an easy walk to Duval Street, Ernest Hemingway House and other tourist attractions. The room was spotlessly clean and well maintained, and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. There is a good-sized pool and the hotel is a little over half a mile from a nice park with a beach and public tennis courts. There is a coffee maker in the room, and they also serve continental breakfast by the pool. I would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here for six nights with two kids for a nice spring vacation. The rooms were spacious, clean, pool was well maintained too. The thing which turned me on to the hotel were the rates and central location. Rates were about 300-375 a night. Not bad for Key West. May other places typed out at 800p Per night and rooms were smaller. The location was awesome. Walking distance to many great spots. We rented bikes and pedaled our way around. Parking is hard, and cars don't move fast here. Bikes are the best way because you can chain them up anywhere. I was very satisfied with the Motel during the whole stay. I can recommend it if you are looking to vacation here with kids.

Per the locals, there is currently a hotel room shortage on the island. I was delayed a night coming home due to severe weather and had to move from the Hilton Grand Key Resort because it was fully booked. The helpful clerk there found me a room at Blue Marlin. It was Friday night and the rate was $299 plus tax. The room smelled of mold. This is not inevitable in Key West--the Hilton didn't smell. My room was kind of cell-like, but it was good enough for one night. There were many Europeans staying here, which was nice for me. Breakfast was included in the rate and it was serve-yourself in the hotel lobby. I was able to get my required combo of coffee, orange juice, and whole wheat toast. This made me happy. Desk staff were friendly. Location was good. I don't recommend the room I had (124--see pics), but others might be nicer.

Much like Key West itself, the place is decent but overpriced. Great location and condsiderly close to absolutely everything that Key West offers.

Good price for Key West. It is an older motel, but they have done a nice job making the place seem clean for the age. It could use a little bit more decorating or personality- but clean and simple with what they do have. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Larger pool for the area.

I really loved the Blue Marlin Motel - it was very well priced for location and quality. The room was clean, neat, simple and modern, which is exactly what we were looking for. The front desk staff were all very friendly and accommodating. This motel is right next to Duval Street (by Banana Cafe, yummmmmyy) and all of the wine bars. It is about a 15 minute walk from the party scene on Duval Street (or a very short bike ride :) ). And is very close to the Southern-most Point. Additionally, there is a bicycle place right nearby which costs $10 for an entire day (Saturday morning - Sunday evening). Only negative is that the bathroom/shower is separated from the room by a shower curtain :( .. not always very nice if you are trying to have a nice romantic vacation.

I love this hotel. I've stayed here numerous times. Close enough to everything without being subjected to all the Duval craziness. We did have a hard time getting additional clean towels (having opted out of daily room cleanings) but Marcus at the front desk was always friendly and accommodating. See you next time!

I really liked this place. The motel that is, not the island. I read some reviews that made me a little leary but I took the plunge, booked it and hoped for the best. The price I found months in advance was great compared to other places. Also, it's a block or so off Duval which is fantastic because it's quiet and chill. The room was fine. It wasn't the nicest I ever stayed in but it wasn't bad at all. There was a mini fridge and microwave. There was internet but it wasn't working while we were there (should be fixed by now). And my pleasant surprise was the pool. It was very pleasant, clean and surrounded by chaise lounges. They provided towels and this saved my time in Key West. The beaches suck, they were windy and there was stuff in the water so it wasn't a clear sandy bottom. I don't like putting my feet where I can't see them or what might bite them. Also, a lot of the island has a sea wall, not a beach so don't expect to go there and just walk to the beach. You can however walk to the southernmost point in just a couple of minutes. And the store next door has basics and a deli counter and also a great little window cafe with tables to sit and eat while watching the trolleys and scooters full of tourists roll by. I am very happy with the cleanliness and the value but after this trip, I will never stay in Key West again. Duval St is lame, the slurpee drinks have no booze in them and it seemed like there were tweakers and alcoholics everywhere (you know, women who look thin from far until you get close and realize they have the balloon body with stick legs and tanned leathery skin all over). I did not see one hot girl there. That is sad. If it's a party you are after, I suggest Miami Beach. I also would like to mention that I felt like we had to be on guard constantly. It felt sketchy and not like you could just relax and let loose.

Wow, I gotta admit. The Blue Marlin was a comfortable surprise. The price was better than some of the hotels around and surprisingly cleaner, spacious and more comfortable. We even had our own kitchen. I would definitely recommend staying here with a group or 2 people. Great location, by the beach and near some good food spots on Duval.

My Fiancé and I decided to give this motel a try based on some of the good reviews I read. This was my first time ever staying in a motel. Maybe our room was one that hadn't been renovated yet but it was very old and outdated. It had a very strong smell of clorox as soon as we opened the door. However, maybe that's a good thing at least they cleaned it. We talked about looking for another hotel in the area but we knew they wouldn't refund us our money. We decided to tough it out. I did sleep with as much clothes on as possible and didn't dare walk barefoot. I was a little too scared to shower there though. It served the purpose for a night of sleep. I guess you get what you pay for.
