Azul is a nice place. Cute older inn feel. About 5 minutes walk to Duval. The room was a good size, and had a shared veranda. It seems all the rooms had some kind of veranda. The room had its own AC unit and a ceiling fan so we were quite comfortable. We skipped the breakfast, but it appeared to be a continental type deal. Nothing special. We did try the coffee, it was folgers which is nothing to brag about. The pool was small but nice. I would give this place 5 stars if the pool area got any sun, but you have to go upstairs on the deck for that. The people who run the place are very attentive. The parking is tight, but they reserved us a spot which was very nice when you are arriving from a long trip. I would definitely stay here again.

It's like a small paradise here. The staff is great, the building is lovely, and its very quiet and peaceful as opposed to all the hoopla that happens on the main drag. It's a close walk to the action, the southernmost tip of the US, and yet it is far enough away to just unwind.

I know this place has a ton of 5 star reviews already but I just thought I'd add that they are all totally worth it. Michael & Gail are the perfect hosts, happily booking tables and tours as soon as you ask. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the place is the perfect distance from Duval St so you can relax but not so far that you have to walk too far. In fact, it's perfectly located for a walk anywhere in Key West but there is a bike rental place next door should you wish to save your feet a bit. The breakfast was OK, lots of nice fresh fruit and a choice of cereals. The bread for toasting was a bit light on substance but it's a minor niggle. They have parking, free wifi, a small pool and numerous porches/balconies to chill and read.

We stayed with another couple in 2 king rooms with a private balcony overlooking Truman. The best part of a stay is the attention to detail and personal service. Michael treats guests as if we are the only ones in the place! Even finding almond milk for us at the last minute. The rooms are laid out well with comfortable mattress, bath products, beach towels and bedding. We loved the A/C units up above as the kept the room at perfect temperature and kept out any street noise. We slept wonderfully. Michael and Dominick are wonderful hosts and we look forward to returning to Azul!

Love love loooooooved this place. I wasn't sure what to expect since I've never stayed in a bed and breakfast on a vacation but it was amazing. The staff was hilarious and really engaging and fun and made our vacation. The rooms were a little small but beautiful- we stayed in a poolside room (which I liked better) and a poolside room upstairs (which was the same room just had to walk down a rickety staircase). The house is beautiful and walking distance to Duval and it was just such a great experience. Breakfast was served fresh each morning and everyone was so nice. Would definitely come back!

Stayed here for 2 nights during our honeymoon. It was lovely:) Beautiful building, nice view from balcony, very clean and organized rooms, walking distance to everywhere, and on top of everything hosts are so nice&kind. Pool area is a little small but very enjoyable. Breakfast in the patio was very relaxing...if you are planning to stay here, don't miss your breakfast. Great place!

My husband and I found Azul to be a charming and relaxing bed and breakfast. The decor was clean and inviting, a mixture of traditional with modern touches. We loved how it was a couple of blocks away from busy duval street. We rented bikes to get around and the staff was very helpful guiding us to local, non-touristy places to eat. We were happy we had a secure place to store our rented bikes and didn't have to lock them up, once inside the gates. We started our days with the light breakfast of fruits, cereals and coffee they provided and spent part of our afternoons by the secluded pool. The kitchen was always open, having glasses and dishes available along with teas and filtered water. Our room was basic; tv, queen bed and attached bathroom. We wish they had a mini frig in the room. Coolers and ice are available to store cold beverages in your room but storing them in the common kitchen is an option as well. Our room was on the ground level, making our upstairs neighbors noisy as they walked around in the wee morning hours. We had an amazing stay and would highly recommend Azul to others that want a relaxing stay in Key West!

The star rating has everything to do with your room, I believe. First the good: the staff at Azul House couldn't be more helpful, professional or friendly. They get five stars off the bat. All of my questions were answered with a smile (even when, I'm sure, they were annoying). Breakfast was always ready and fully stocked in the morning. The pool was very inviting. The B&B, itself, is a charming old house with lots of great detail. And, the color scheme (piercing blue) is extremely appealing. I loved all of the above. That out of the way, my room was a little smaller than anticipated. I had a second-floor balcony queen overlooking the pool. From the reviews, it may make sense to request one of the name-checked rooms other visitors raved about. My room was a little cramped, smelled a bit of mildew from the humidity, the sheets had an uncomfortable sweat to them, and my wifi never properly connected (despite the efforts of the B&B staff). My television didn't work properly (fuzzy picture and buzzing sound) and regulating the room temperature required an advanced engineering degree. There wasn't much to the room: a bed, nightstand, bureau, (broken) tv, and a ceiling fan. The bathroom was a little small and outdated. Plainly put: I never felt comfortable. I never felt relaxed and that's a problem while on vacation... in Key West. Again, I think had I requested one of the rooms raved about in the reviews I would have had a vastly superior experience. Unfortunately, I didn't -- on both accounts.

Lovely charming bed-and-breakfast with 11 rooms, a pool and a lovely upstairs patio overlooking Friday's Fantasy Fest parade! Very clean! Great staff! Easy walk to Duval!

Window A/C units made for a tiring and trying stay..... We were impressed by the fact that the place does not take ankle biters of any age....and we also read many glowing reviews, looked at the location and thought the place would fit our brief. However the very essence of any place one stays is SLEEP and sadly the Azul let us down badly. All the rooms have small window A/C cooling systems which really is last century, specially when you consider you are in Key West ....a very warm place! Being fellow innkeepers we do have an insight into the way a small lodging place should be operated and on many levels Azul came up trumps. The staff Gail, Lisa and Michael were very personable and commensurate hospitality professionals, the pool and small gardens creatively designed and relaxing, and the location central, but one could hear road noise in our rear property facing room. The house is on the flight path and also located next to a busy road. These issues alone would not be a major deterrent if the place had actually invested in a mini split A/C system. We understand that the historic house could not have a central A/C system, but even our inn located in cool Vermont does not use window A/C units anymore....and we only need A/C in Woodstock for less than 8 weeks a year! Also window units drink electricity, so the operating costs must be huge! The fact that a small upmarket inn located in Key West, where we think A/C would be required for 10 months of the year, has not invested in updating their comfort for clients, it is a very poor reflection on the owners. We would also state that Dominic the remote owner, and his staff have never actually spent a night in the Aria suite...cos' had they we doubt whether they would have slept either! The suite was we felt a little tired, the bathroom blind disintegrated when we tried to use it, three light bulbs were not working and the bathroom sink had no plug. When this was brought to Michael's attention he said that when asked they could provide a plug, but the plug issue was a pain. To have to ask for a sink plug if one is staying in the best room at the inn...honestly it was ridiculous. A small table situated next to the very new but exceptionally noisy window A/C unit ,could not be used after sunset as there was no light to enable one to see anything. We did use on our second night a small fan which was placed in the room, we felt this was an indication that we were not the first clients to complain about the noisy A/C. The central ceiling fan really was not effective....so we sweltered the first night. After leaving the A/C on for hours before we went to bed the next night , we did sleep better as we switched the A/C unit off on retiring, but due to the window unit being in the window....traffic noise was a irritant. The breakfast offered was simple and tasty and we understand that local regulations are restrictive about what can be served. The lack of a full breakfast was not an issue as the website clearly indicated what you would get, and delivered what it promised. In summary we felt as if the staff must be battling with the owner, who lives in a new vacation property on Key Largo, and the Azul had become tired...it really needed some TLC and investment. The staff were great and tried to remedy our disatisfaction, but we deduced that they had their hands tied behind their backs as they were not authorised to make any capital investments etc. We would be less critical if the place had reflected the lack of comfort in their room prices, but the prices at the Azul were on a par with other similar properties in Key West, many of which did provide quiet and efficient A/C. All in all we would not return to the inn until the A/C unit is sorted out as our sleep in the comfortable king was seriously effected by the A/C issue.

It is very easy to give Azul 5 stars. My girlfriend and I just stayed here for 6 nights and loved our experience. The place was great...extremely clean, very friendly staff, great continental breakfast, and a nice pool area. We stayed in the Poolside King and it was perfect and very affordable. Breakfast is from 8-10am every morning and there are tables out on the deck so you do not have to sit with other guests if you do not want to. There is constantly relaxing music playing in the background and the people who own the place are extremely welcoming and helpful. The location is on Truman street which is a great place to be. We were a short walk to Duval and there is a bike rental right next to Azul so you can rent bikes for $10/day. 5 stars for AZUL!

This place was a great find. I called the Key West welcome center and they found this place for me and an incredible rate, cheaper than what was published on their own website. They showed us our room ... the Havana Vieja ... it was small and cozy. So we asked for an upgrade and we got one of the best rooms for only 16 bucks more a day!! The Fuego!! King bed, the room was twice the size. Definitely worth $16 a day. PLUS it wasn't pool level like the Havana Vieja, so we weren't interrupted by people walking in and out of the b&b. Service was spectacular. Everything you would expect from a b&b. Breakfast was tasty, especially their bread and boiled eggs. Only negative is the window ac unit. If you're not used to it, it can be pretty loud. It's close to everything, but seems far, especially when it's 100 degrees outside. I recommend renting a scooter... it's really the only way to travel around Key West anyway... If I come back to Key West I know I can depend on this b&b for great service and clean, comfortable rooms.

What can I say about Azul Key West that hasn't already been said by so many reviewers on yelp? To start things off, I was unsure about staying at a bed and breakfast. I had never done it before, and in my mind I envisioned some crusty old house with old people and shared bathrooms. I was dead wrong! Azul is a stunning property in the heart of Old Town Key West, fully remodeled, with plenty of privacy and lots of amenities. Michael checked us in when we arrived. From the second he said hello he was nothing short of amazing. He showed us to our room and was very accommodating the whole weekend. Every morning breakfast was ready; cereal, yogurt, toast, fresh fruit, and more. We would eat on the patio and I enjoyed some great conversation with Michael. They say Azul is a little further away from Duval, and while that's true, I found it to be a plus! Its only about 3 blocks from Duval, and about 15 min walk from the main part of Duval where all the partying takes place. This worked out great because we were able to party but then avoid the crowds and noises when it was time to relax and go to sleep. Perfect location. Our accommodations were great. All new fixtures in the bathroom, little flat screen TV, great bedding, very charming room. We stayed in the "Cohiba" suite which had its own private balcony overlooking the pool, and was separated from the rest of the house which added some extra privacy. Perfect! I have nothing negative to say about Azul. I can't think of one single flaw. In fact, I can't imagine going back to Key West and staying anywhere else.

While researching our trip to Key West, we looked at the large, oceanfront resorts, but looked very closely at their reviews... they seemed a little to dirty, used, and well, corporate for us. We have never stayed at a bed and breakfast and we weren't quite sure what to expect. Azul was perfect! Michael, as mentioned in other reviews, was amazing. Every place he suggested was amazing. He even provided us with almond milk because we do not drink dairy. That was a fantastic accommodation that made our stay that much better. The room has high ceilings and was quite spacious. We didn't think we would like being right next to the pool (Ambrosia room), but it was perfect! All we had to do was take two steps and we were in the pool or back in our room. Speaking of the pool, it was never crowded. Adults only is a glorious vacation must-have from now on. Nobody splashing water and screaming... nobody running around. It makes such a difference when you are trying to unwind. In short, Azul, Michael, and Becca helped to formulate our view of bed and breakfasts by creating the most wonderful atmostphere for a serene vacation in Key West. When we return, we will certainly stay here!

i cannot express how happy i am about finding azul key west. the story goes like this: i wanted to go camping with my gf over the weekend but bahia honda state park had no sites available only 'walk-ins' and considering me and jm woke up at 1pm on saturday, i pretty much thought we were not going to find a place to stay in the keys for less than a fortune. we didnt care, we got in the car and drove south and when we got to key west, we started looking for 'vacancy' signs at every hotel/motel, hoping we would find something within our budget... we stopped by a couple of motels prior to azul. both motels were almost sold out and had rooms at 159$. we decided to keep on looking... joan saw azul while we drove on truman avenue. 'get off and ask' she said to me and i thought ... no way, these people are gonna charge millions per night... but whatever, we gave it a shot. why no? the guy in front desk was a super friendly guy. very talkative and very helpful. he asked me how many people were staying with me and i said it was just me and my girl. he then told me that he had gotten a couple of last minute cancellations for a couple of rooms, and that he had one available at a discount price which i promised not to disclose. but he insisted in showing me the room. havana vieja. we loved it! this bed and breakfast, boutique hotel, guest house is beautiful!!! located maybe three blocks away from duval. so we made the decision to stay for the night... even though we were so close to duval street, me and my girl just stayed inside. we got some wine and went for a midnight swim in the heated pool. we met a nice couple from australia who were in need of a cork opener so i think azul is for couples :-P and its a GREAT place to bring your honey, for sure. our room was cute. comfy beds with beautiful linen sheets, high ceilings, a/c, ceiling fan, flat screen tv. the bathroom was small but cute. stocked with aveda products. totally awesome! even the towels... breakfast is served at 8am (free of charge with paid room) and even though we didnt have any, i got to see what they served. cereals, fresh fruits, boiled eggs, bagels, milk, coffee and tea ... a nice little breakfast. i love azul key west and i will recommend this place to everyone. of course not only the location and actual building are awesome but also the guy who checked us in which i completely forget his name. not only was he nice to us while staying at azul but he went out of his way to recommend places to go eat at night. he also suggested a couple of places where the locals go for drinks after work, plus he also pointed us to the best spot to see the sunset in the island! wow, azul key west definitely five solid stars

We are in the midst of our visit but already know we are in for a great stay (especially as we just stayed at Azul Del Mar). Great, great service (maybe a slight notch beyond our last stop, amazingly). Room is very clean and perfectly located. Cannot recommend highly enough. Writing this from a private balcony overlooking Truman Street so that should tell a story itself.

We all know that it can be difficult to choose a hotel/motel/B&B from across the country based on a website. Websites obviously sensationalize its product in order to garner business. Sometimes the websites are shall we say "overly creative" in their self-description. But other times they are spot-on. Such is the case with Azul Key West. What an unbelievable setting! We stayed in the Aria room which is the very private 3rd floor room that as it happens is one of the highest rooms in Key West, and offers amazing views over gardens and gently peeking through tin rooftop gables. Add to that the charm of the climb through an easy to use spiral staircase, and you have quite a picture! The interior design of the room sets itself far apart (and in my opinion head and shoulders above) 99% of the other B&B's which "default" to the unremarkable caribbean-victorian style. The way that things are done here at the Azul Key West is what I call "Eco-Modern". I'm not entirely sure that is an official approved genre of interior design, but to me it's a descriptive that should establish a vivid mental visual. It's a way of using modern design elements, and blending them seamlessly with the grandeur of the outside world, in particular the region in which the architecture resides. Everything is clean, crisp, comfortable and convenient. The 4 C's of a wonderful hospitality experience. The owner Dom, is a gentleman in the truest form of the word and made sure our every whim was satisfied. Tracy who was my point of contact before arriving, made sure all of my special requests were met, and was a pleasure to work with. The points to remember here are: -VERY comfortable bed -VERY clean and tidy -Fantastic personal service -In the absolute dead center of Key West (with bike rentals next door!) -Very romantic setting Anyone who reads my reviews knows that I don't back a place, unless I truly mean it. The Azul Key West exceeded my own and my fiances' expectations.
