Being from the land of good diners, we came upon DJ's in search of a good morning meal and stopped in. We were immediately greeted and seated. Our pleasant waiter set us up with beverages while we reviewed the menu choices, which had a decent variety of offerings. Everything was made to order and done well and our group stuck mostly to breakfast items. A more demanding person in our party was happily accomdated with his requests. We agreed we will be returning our next trip to the Keys.

Pretty fricken good diner food, and friendly, quick service. The biscuit is of the large, moist rectangular variety, so don't be surprised when you aren't served a dry little hockey puck. The hash browns are also fantastic, even if they look pretty average. They nailed every dish, and the Cuban coffee was great.

Stopped in to a dirty table and food that was comparable to Waffle House. The person I was with said they would have much preferred WaHo, if that's any indication. Staff was nice, but food just was average

I mean....it was decent. I had the yummy sounding Key Largo waffle: pecans, bananas, blueberries & coconut. Was pretty disappointed when it came out with frozen berries & packaged, sweetened coconut. It's Florida, for Pete's. Packaged coconut & frozen berries? I can getter ingredients in Michigan. :/ It was a good idea, though. Decent coffee. Decent atmosphere. Nice staff. I'd come back, just to try other items.

Great place. Now open for dinner. Good food and excellent prices. Highly recommended. Gyros plate delicious!! Grilled mahi sandwich also good. Beautiful salad. Chicken wraps look great.

Obviously not the place to go if you're expecting a gourmet breakfast but as far as diners go it gets the job done. I had an 8:00 morning dive and found myself wandering into DJ's to get my fill of pre-dive carbs. The waitress was extremely friendly and attentive- my coffee mug never went empty. The waffles were hot and the eggs were just runny enough which made me a happy diner.

Traveled to Key Largo for the weekend and decided to give this place a shot, since it was right down the street from our house. I ended up eating both breakfast and lunch there one day (had to try out some of their different menu items), and then visited once more on my way out the next day just to reassure myself it was as great as I thought. Very friendly and prompt service, even met the owner (DJ) himself, and I will definitely be stopping by next time I'm down that way. Tip: If you love mahi-mahi, don't be hesitant to give their sandwich a shot.

Great food, great service, well priced. Location is central and ample parking. Menu is diverse. The burgers are great. If you want to eat healthy you can. In the keys, it's hit or miss with the food. You won't be disappointed eating here. Try the coconut key lime pie crunch. Yummmmmmmmy!!!!
(5)Helene S.
Loved it. The food was fresh and you saw the chef making it. Service was excellent to. If you are in key largo definitely come for breakfast. Best omelette I have had. Jack had blueberry pancakes that was also great.

I've liked in Key Largo for four years now, and have had breakfast at every restaurant in town, and DJ's Diner is my favorite Key Largo casual breakfast spot--bar none! When in the keys forget the chains. You are here to experience the keys, and what could be better than a restaurant that has been here for nearly 30 years with minimal change? Thats Keysie! Great food and service. 50's decor. Experience the keys while in the keys

First I would like to say why I give the 4 stars. Amazing service!!! Very seldom do you receive such a welcoming as you walk through the door and throughout your stay. This is a small hole in the wall diner. The cooks know their stuff. Being in the business all my life, I'm a bit of a foodie and so is my daughter, whom accompanied me. We sat at the counter where we were able to view every move the cooks made, as well as the servers. Delicious Food. Well portioned and great presentation. The only reason I did not give the extra star is because it was really warm inside this diner. Would recommend turning the air down. Love this place.

If you are looking for delicious food & awesome & friendly service then DJ's Diner is the place for you! We got there at noon from Miami & were excited we were still able to order breakfast! I had the Keys Eggs Benedict & was in absolute heaven! My husband had The Lucy, my son had the Pancake Special, & my daughter had the Mickey Pancakes...needless to say we were NOT disappointed! This was not my first time here but it was the first for our kids & they loved it! Thanks to DJ & his staff, you guys rock!!!

I really liked this diner. Ironically as soon as we pulled in I get a text from my nephew DJ. Lol. The 50s theme complete with Elvis and checkerboard floor gave the place an extra cute ambience. The cinnamon toast crunch french bread was made specially for me. They added some toppings from a different breakfast item on the side, so I was able to dress my french toast up with coconut, pecans, and blueberries. I ordered some cuban coffee to make sure i stayed awake for the impending drive to key west. Unfortunately, the breakfast wasn't enough and I was craving something savory. They made the most tastiest burger with salsa and avocado. My son and I stopped at a scenic view en route to key west and I enjoyed that burger in all its savory and filling goodness. So glad I found this place on yelp. I'll be back soon.

This was our second choice for breakfast on the way out of Key Largo last Sunday. There were six of us who first stopped into Doc's but the wait was at least 25 deep (there must be a good reason!), so we left. We were able to get seating immediately for our group at DJ's -- there must be a good reason! After ordering, my husband received his meal while we all waited for ours. Since we watched his start to get cold, we told him to go ahead and eat. More than 10 minutes later, the rest of us received our breakfasts while my husband watched us eat. Terrible timing! My friend did not receive her Key Lime Pie, so she asked for it a second time after she was finished with her breakfast. We sat and sat and sat...ready to go so we could hit the road, but the service just stopped. It was strange. While the food was fine, and the servers were friendly, they just appeared to not be completely on top of their business. It was just an odd experience. I might go here again, but will get to Doc's earlier since they've got a good reputation among the locals.

We stayed in the Keys for New Years right down the street from DJ's. Decided to pop in for breakfast. Really cute place. Clean, friendly staff, good service and great stuff to look at. We enjoyed an order of bisquits and gravy as an appetizer. They were delish. The bisquits are clearly homemade and the portion was huge. We had to take the leftovers and was glad to do so. Our friend that we left behind enjoyed them too! Our friends had the DJ special and enjoyed it. I had the western mess. Yum to the O! And my date had some to die for waffles. We will definitely stop in there next time we are down in Key Largo.
(4)Kevin W.
Had the chicken fried steak breakfast. It was ok, nothing to write home about. Good generous portions without being out of control. Good flavor but the CFS was overlooked. That's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. The service and atmosphere was very Keys... Relaxed and paid back. I mean that in a good way they were very attentive, we didn't have to ask for anything. Don't forget to look up when you go in.
(4)Joseph L.
Went to DJ's Dinner the other day for lunch, super friendly staff all smiles. I had the chicken quesadilla and a cappuccino, both on point! Clean and cool place lots of neat stuff to look at. I'm now a regular!
(5)Michael B.
Typical but nice little diner. Friendly service and decent food. It is what you think it should be. Perfect for a quick and simple breakfast.
(3)Cathy M.
The Fried Key Lime Pie is absolutely to die for. They form a piece of Key Lime Pie in a ball then tool it in coconut & flash fry it. It's served with Vanilla Ice Cream & Melba Sauce. Best dessert I've ever had. Thumbs up
(5)Vanessa K.
Came in here for breakfast since we had heard nothing but great things and they DEFINITELY delivered! I had the breakfast burrito and my husband had the Key Largo Waffle....absolutely amazing and yo die for! They don't skimp out on portions either, very generous. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. If you are ever in Key Largo, Florida this is a must try place!
(5)Leigh S.
DJ,s has great friendly service and gives you a comfortable feeling when you arrive. The food is good and portions are good as well.
(4)Joy L.
Great for burgers, fries and shakes/floats, as well as breakfast which is served all day. The wait staff are sort of clueless but at least nice.
(4)Tina B.
Stopped in for breakfast on our way out of Key Largo. We were greeted with smiling faces and friendly service. Food was great! Coffee was fresh and always refilled! Prices are good and the service was exceptional! Will visit again when we return to the keys!
(5)Melissa Lynn C.
We were seated quickly- the diner is cute and homey. If you're looking for something out of this world and different from any places at home; I'm sorry, but this is not the breakfast diner for you. Very basic American food. Not terrible tasting, but a little small in portion size. Our waitress was not friendly... At least from what I could recall. I only saw her when she placed our order and gave back our credit card for payment. She was no where in between. She did not hand us our food, refill our drinks, nor give us the check. Awful, just awful customer service. Will not be returning.
(3)Maggie C.
The island burger was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Fries were fresh and crispy. We will definitely go back.
(5)Diane A.
Best breakfast in Key Largo.....awesome food, awesome service! Went twice in Two days!
(5)Stephen M.
Had waffle with bananas coconuts and berries. I loved the waffle. My wife had chili omelet and she enjoyed it.
(3)Suzie J.
DJ's is a great little diner! Our waiter was very friendly, informative, and accommodating. We stopped in for lunch and loved it! We had two different fish sandwiches. They were fresh and tasty. Talked with the owner after we finished eating. He is very friendly also. The menu is surprisingly vast considering the size of the diner. We will be returning to DJ's!!
(4)Liz E.
We stopped here for brunch just before we went on our snorkeling trip. The food was decent and I can't really complain especially for the price. The place wasn't too fancy although it definitely has interesting decor. Our waitress was great at customer service and was a real sweet heart. Selena, our waitress, was very cheery, courteous, and sincerely welcoming. She took care of us and everyone else who was at the diner at the time while also answering phone calls. But she juggled things really well and was great at getting us everything we needed. I would have given this place a 3 stars because there was nothing about the food that stood out. The customer service, however, was stellar.
(4)Gina F.
Cute young wait people more than happy to serve us. Large menu but very easy to order off it ( scrambled with veg hold all starches). Cuban coffee quickly prepared (could have been stronger)? Stopped here based on suggestion from the key largo Hilton. Good call! On Sundays there is a farmers market adjacent to djs with fresh fruit!
(4)Stacey H.
Loved the breakfast!!! Kids really enjoyed the cinnamon crunch French toast. Service was fantastic. Bring a magnet from home to hang on the ceiling!
(5)Jim W.
For a breakfast/brunch nook, this place is unbeatable. The food is fresh and delicious, and the service is terrific. We'll be back...for sure. Thanks!
(5)Cathy M.
Sometimes you just want the basic, greasy, sweet, salty, food from a can. This is it. No doubt about it, the ambiance makes the place, but I am all for the all-american fare on occasion. Just don't expect to want to run a marathon later :) One memerable point though, the Cholula hot sauce on the tables is obviously not Cholula. Either way, it was still tasty hot sauce!
(4)Chris C.
This place has a neighborhood mom and pop kind of feel. This is the kind of place that people start to remember who you are after a couple of weekends in a row. They have normal American diner food, breakfast and lunch. The food is always good, might not be great, but still good. They have a very good chocolate milk shake. The diner is decked out in 50s stuff, pictures of James Dean, Marilyn Monroe and other famous people from that era. This is our usual Sunday morning breakfast spot.
(3)Heather W.
Another reasonably priced, quality food find. Service here was very slow, and we were only one of two tables having dinner at the time. I liked that the food was cooked in the open, so we could see that the area was clean. I had the fish tacos special for $11.95, which turned out to be two fish tacos served with a side (I chose fries - wasn't diving until tomorrow). The fish in the tacos was excellent; it was grilled, and was obviously very fresh. Sometimes fish tacos consist of a mystery white-fleshed fish, hidden by the shell, cabbage, and dressing, but this fish was definitely of an upper quality, though I couldn't identify it. My husband's entree was the blackened hogfish sandwich for $13.99. In retrospect, he should have requested it grilled, not blackened. The fish was fresh and moist, but he did find two bones. Hogfish is a difficult fish to clean, though, so this wasn't as terrible as if it had been, say, salmon. We had the smoked fish dip starter for $6.95. It was okay, not great - had more cream cheese than actual fish. But the portion was plentiful, and it wasn't terrible, just had no "wow" factor. This was probably a 3 1/2 star place, not quite 4 stars, but I gave it 4 since it was closer to a 4 star rating than a 3 star rating.
(4)Michelle C.
Good place for breakfast. And there seems to be less and less good places for breakfast in Key Largo. The Diner is done up 50's style. Hollywood legends motif. Traditional diner breakfast food and good service. I like there home fries. Nothing spectacular, but it's consistently good.
(3)Mark D.
This is a real South Florida diner in the great tradition of American diners. The place just drips with '50s nostalgia. Posters, pictures of the icons of the era of "cool" - Marilyn Monroe, Boggie, Brando, Dean, and Elvis. The menu is classic diner. No need for a critique there. Just classic okay diner selections. Remember, go to diners for as much atmosphere as appetite. Just sit and soak it up.
(4)Cheryl B.
Just what you'd expect in a casual vacation town like Key Largo - cute decor, friendly wait staff and good food. Loved the pancakes with pineapple, coconut and mac nuts. Nice simple place with good food and prices.

7am on a weekend morning in Key Largo, I open my eyes and look up at the beautiful blue skies, palm tree frawns soothe my ears from the north east winds that can be felt on my bare chest, I almost trip over empty beer bottles that lay next to my hammock as I sit up, I sit there and enjoy the sun beaming on the clear intercoastal ocean waters from the roof of a three story house in Key Largo. I put on my sandals, and spot random friends sleeping all around the house, one is on the top of the jacuzzi cover, one is on the back of the lifted boat, others are sleeping in lounge chairs, and as my head is throbbing all I can think of is breakfast at DJ's Diner! So in my raspy voice I yell "Anybody hungry?", im the first one up, so after brushing my teeth I walk outside and theres 4 people up and others claiming they will come. So we drove to DJ's diner up the road, typical diner food, the big breakfast platters, the omelettes, french toast, coffee, toast, sausage, ham, eggs etc... You name it, they have it, perfect hangover food before heading out on the boat, snorkeling, islands, drinking etc... Just like any diner place, its cheap, its greasy, its fast, and its good. Nothing to be too crazy about, but this place will hit the spot in those moments when all you care about is having anything in your belly.

Had the worst experience in this Diner. It started with weak coffee and ended with terrible service. The food was also not good, especially the home fries. I love potatoes and didn't think it was possible to mess them up, well this place manages to do so. They tasted like vinegar and were inedible. I was going to ask for something else but nobody ever came to our table. We asked numerous diner employees for our waiter but they all said it wasn't them and they couldn't tell us who it was. Terrible! Please do yourself a favor and walk across the street to Mrs. Mac's Kitchen and be sure to try their hashbrown casserole. Heaven!

This place has pretty good breakfast. I had the Philly cheese steak omelet which was good as well as pretty good home fries. Also, surprisingly they had really good coffee for being a dinner. I got a piece of key lime pie togo which was awesome!!! It tasted like I was biting into a lime ;) The atmosphere was nice but the service was a little poor. The wait staff all seem like the we're too busy to be friendly. Otherwise, this place is pretty ok. I would recommend it because the food is pretty delicious.
(3)John C.
This is a small American Diner. Good food, great service, and clean as can be. Nice homey atmosphere.
(4)Emily P.
Horrible food & service!! I absolutely thought my friends and i were on candid camera it was so bad! Food is microwaved slop. When my friend complained to the waitress about how gross her food was, the waitress giggled and walked away! When we asked to see a manager, a young man came to the table and said to the waitress "what'd you do wrong" and the two of them shared a laugh before addressing the table. When my friend told the manager that her food was disgusting and inedible, he said in a very condescending way "explain to me why was it disgusting". I told him it looked like the entire plate was out of a can. He became defensive and said "well I sell a lot of those, maybe its just a bad day". Ive never been to such a bad restaurant in my life! Stay away! My friends and I that did consume our gross food, will consider ourselves lucky if we dont all end up with food poisoning later today!
(1)Bill J.
Been here a couple of times. It's OK and good food. Great comfort food, but their breakfast options are great.
(3)Scott J.
Typical American diner fare. The food was acceptable but that's it. The place is decorated with black and white tile, stuff from the 50's, etc. It seems like they started some remodeling and then stopped as there is unpainted drywall and other clues that make one wonder if they really care. I would go there for breakfast, but there are plenty of more interesting places for lunch.
(2)Nancy R.
Meh is right. Just a typical diner with mediocre food. If you have to eat around here I'd opt for Harriette's. At least they have good biscuits.
(2)Michael M.
I love this kind of diner for breakfast. I'm giving it 3 stars and will give it a second chance this week. Last week, I went for a late breakfast. Sat at counter for better service. Server was prompt but forgot to put a rather important note on my order. My first mistake was ordering eggs Benedict in such a place after reading rave reviews about other options. What was I thinking? The English muffin was bearable. The "Canadian Bacon", well, i don't know if it was CB or ham, but it was uncuttable and unchewable. Rubber. Then comes the poached egg which was, in fact, poached. But I ordered it more medium well and not runny. That's the part she forgot to write down. I'm not that squeamish that I can't get thru that mishap if everything else is ok. And, I love hollandaise sauce. I've had a lot of hollandaise sauce in my life, including the Knorr's powdered stuff in a pinch. This was really bad. Not much thicker than au jus gravy - really, flavored water. Actually, not that flavored. The server and other staff were nice enough, so I'll try it again. Very easy to find - just across from CVS front door across US1 on NB side.
(3)Jose M.
The customer service was great. The moment u walk in they are greeting u and u feel welcomed. The food was good and i would recommend this restaurant if anyone is down on vacation.
(5)Jay Y.
You know there's not much too complain about. Let me start off by saying that the food was average (I got a mahi mahi fried sandwich) nothing too special but very fulfilling. The service was good especially because there's this really hot blonde it's hard to take your eyes off her as long as you're a straight guy. Anyways back to the important stuff, it's good how they have a breakfast and lunch menu. But one thing that may be bad is how they close at 5pm but other than that I would recommend this diner if you're looking for a Waffle House like environment
(3)Andy M.
Went here a few times while in Key Largo. Breakfast was outstanding, lunch was just OK (chicken salad sandwich and coleslaw was nothing special) The Lucy breakfast sandwich, grilled Texas Mex Mess & pancakes were all great. Service was outstanding.
(4)Y. S.
Great fried coconut shrimps and superb cheese fries, friendly waiter and best of all: fried crunchy key lime pie. Would revisit.
(4)Karen B.
Went to DJ's this morning for breakfast. They pancakes were delicious . Eggs and bacon cooked perfect. A very friendly staff. Also this was the best unsweetened tea I have had since visiting Key Largo. Will visit again
(5)rita b.
Average food. Maybe we were there after the breakfast rush, but tables and floor were not well cleaned. Folding chairs inside/picnic table outside tells you this is a very casual place. Decent overall. Nice staff. Husband liked his eggs.
(3)Brionna M.
The cleanest restaurant in Key Largo! The coolesst decor and a awesome menu. The service was fast and full of smiles. Prices were cheap for a tourist town. We ate the following the black beards delight Cajun fish sandwich, fish tacos, conch fritters chocolate shakes, breakfast burger chicken Caesar salad and my brother had breakfast. All great and Hugh plates. We will be back!
(5)Sarah L.
Yummy diner food, and DELICIOUS shakes!!!! I would go back just for the shakes (peanut butter pie shake yes please) BUT the service is very very slow!
