What happened to Archie's? I ordered some takeout tonight and a "large" salad for $11.99 was clearly a single serving and the Caprese pizza was tasteless. Nothing more than a dried out crust with cheap mozzarella and grape tomatoes from the the Winn Dixie next door. It was also stone cold when I picked it up. Maybe it was just a bad night, but this was totally inconsistent with the Archie's I've enjoyed for years when we come to stay in KB for the Winter. I think the other reviewers are being overly generous in their ratings. Won't be back.

Good pizza, sad they have closed so many locations though. There used to be one in Coral Gables on Giralda and in Doral. Pizza is very good, made fresh when you order it. I love the brie & prosciutto pizza and their mozzarella sticks are really good also. Would definitely recommend giving it a try if you're in the area. This location also has a good selection of beers and some on tap.

Archie's on the key has never let me down. It is my absolute favorite place to get a prosciutto and mozzarella panini! The lasagna bolognes and the California pizza are also among my favorites. The service is good but you can order ahead for fast pick up. They give the most delicious bread and the olive oil and balsamic at the table taste so good you have to force yourself to stop eating it. My only complaint are the prices but what do you expect? It's the key?

Should of gone to Sir Pizza. Disclaimer: I've never eaten at Sir Pizza, but it's gotta be better than this place.

Have you ever walked into a place and immediately felt unwelcome? If you answered that question with a "no" and would like to experience the feeling, go to Archies Pizza. I can promise you that the entire staff will work their hardest to make you understand that as a customer, you are inconveniencing them. What follows is an account of the worst lunch of my whole life, with absolutely NO EMBELLISHING. First, the entire staff lined up to give us dirty looks when my husband and I walked in the door. After a few moments, someone came to take our order, which was merely a technicality because we were getting whatever THEY (the server, cook, manager, etc) decided we were getting-which was nothing like the items that my husband and I actually requested. Note to Archies: Typically, the dining experience goes something like this- the customers pick what they want to eat/drink, tell the server who then notifies the kitchen. The kitchen then prepares the food that the customer ordered to the very best of their ability so that the customer will actually enjoy eating THE FOOD THAT THEY REQUESTED. I ordered a glass of wine, which never arrived; thankfully the server was kind enough to still charge us for it. I had to ask not once, but twice, to get it removed from the bill. The piece de resistance though was when I attempted to use the women's restroom and couldn't because two male employees were cleaning it (read here: having a lengthy discussion about their weekend). They kindly informed me that I was welcome to use the men's room instead. I asked if there were currently any men using THE MEN'S restroom, out of courtesy for any unsuspecting man standing at a urinal doing his business when I suddenly arrived on the scene IN THE MEN'S ROOM. Their answer? "Uhm, I don't think so." Are you kidding me? If I'm going to be redirected to the men's room, I think it's only fair that I be sure there aren't any men in there at the time. And the secret ingredient in their pizza? SALT. Lots and lots of salt. In fact, the pizza that we ordered seemed to be made primarily of salt.

Pizza is good and the Greek salad is good, albeit a bit on the small side. Last night I ordered spaghetti with pomodoro sauce- very good. And penne with pomodoro sauce- also good. Also ordered the vegetable soup and was so excited, thinking it would be homemade and full of fresh vegetables. After all, they have heaps of them, which they use on their pizza, right? I was SOOOO disappointed ... Paid $5.99 for what was nicely flavored broth with a handful of frozen carrots, corn and green beans! You know, the crappy stuff I hope you don't really have in your freezer? That. I hope management sees this... Anyway, I'll go back and order what I know is good... and never, ever again the soup.

Good eat-in pizza. Not New York style. More like brick oven.

I actually like Archie's - and yes, I know it's a pizza joint, but I and my friends ordered a sandwich, pasta, and churrasco - and they all came great - in large portions, and at reasonable prices - a nice surprise since two of the other options within walking distance were charging almost double for the same thing. My churrasco with fancy greens was $10, the chicken panini at $9, and the chicken & mushroom canelloni at $12. Definitely an affordable and good sit-down restaurant to go to if you're looking for a casual place to eat with family or friends in Key Biscayne.

Archies' Key Biscayne your time has finally come. I have had the pleasure of dining here and at the other location in Miami north of 50 times over the last few years....I have been a 100% advocate and supporter. There is no doubt the Pizza USED TO BE very good. IMO the best in Miami. Very Italian, not the thick crusted American style with cholesterol baked in for goodness. :-) That being said, the service in Key Biscayne is atrocious. I cannot speak for the other locations, but this evening the restaurant was 3/4 full around 8pm. The entire staff was useless. The young lady (I use this term carefully as she was very rude) told me my take out order was running 5 minutes late....20 minutes later I received it. Her English was poor and Spanish even worse...no explanation, no apology. While I was waiting by the kitchen, the only person working diligently was the pizza Chef. There were a couple line cooks preparing salads (pulling spinach right out of the wholesale bag and dropping it on the plate), and a woman who actually topped a soup with water...hmmm dare I say...not a good idea? I asked for the manager, and he was 'too busy' to talk to anyone. There is more to say, but probably not worth saying as if the staff does not care about their service, quality of food and an professional appreciation for its clients...why help them. I hope to see a turn around in the up-coming busy season. At this rate, Domino's or Sir Pizza seems like a very strong contender for the best pizza in Key Biscayne...ouch.

It's a shame the service is so terrible, because the food is actually really good. I've been going to Archie's for 7 years, and (hard to believe it's possible), but the service has gotten worse with time. There used to be one amazing server there a few years ago, but now that he is gone my friends and I refuse to do eat-in at Archie's. We've just had so many times where 1) the wait to even get a server to greet you and take your order is too long, 2) the wait for food is even longer, 3) the server never comes back to see how the food is (and the food has been wrong) or if you need another drink, and 4) it takes forever to get the check. Only once has the food actually been bad (soggy salad), but when I say the service is the worst that you can imagine, I mean it. This place is small, and there are usually at least two servers and several cooks, so there is no reason the food and service shouldn't be more timely. The pizzas are great here, as are the salads. Really fresh, unique, and tasty. The only way I will eat here anymore is to call ahead for pickup (don't do delivery that takes forever too). Expect to go through a struggle ordering on the phone too. Sorry Archie's, I still crave your salads and sausage and green pepper pizza, but you've lost my weekly business to Dominos.

Great Pizza, antipastos and salads, the desserts are not bad either. Authentic brick oven, fast service and reasonably priced. If you are in Key Biscayne this is the pizza to beat!

i wasn't overly enthusiastic about coming here for lunch, but rather than spend an hour in sony-erickson tennis traffic to get off the island, and deal with grumpy low blood sugary family it was decided at last to eat here. i was pleasantly surprised i must say, or perhaps too hungry to be my usual finicky self. we ordered 3 types of pizza. the sausage and pepper needed some more time in the oven. the putanesca was solid, and the steak and pesto was o.k. for those who don't like pizza there is a wide variety of things to choose from. happily the unlucky/ lalotto tribe emerged sated and much less cranky except for the hidious traffic that continued to hinder us throughout the visit.

We loved this place and visited it 3 times on a recent trip to Key Biscayne. We loved the pear & gorgonzola salad and the napolotina pizza. Staff could be a little more friendly, but we always had everything we needed. I think this goes along with the tip being automatically included.

I always regret ordering from Archie's. I have tried to order from them many times. All different kind of pizzas and pastas, reaching my hand out to give them a chance as this place always seems so highly praised, and each time I wish I hadn't opened my wallet. The pizza is either mediocre or downright bad. Even in my Dominos eating days I couldn't stomach the grease of this place. I suppose I was most angered by their supposed creativity, ingenuity and freshness they spoke of relating to the pizza and then when I saw the finished product it was sad and either tasteless or bad tasting. The pasta is basically just grease and way too much cheese that tastes like it's been reheated a few times. If you want pizza that succeeds at what Archie's attempts check out Tutto Pizza near Brickell.

Had a dinner here over the weekend. We sat outside on their patio. It is located in a busy strip mall, right next to the main grocery store, so you get a lot of people walking around. But it didn't bother us at all. There was a great breeze that we enjoyed while sitting out there. We ordered a few different items (small pizza, Calzone, and a salad) and all of them were very good. The service was good as well. The red wine Sangria's were very tasty. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

Brain-damaged service and strangely tasteless food. It is amazing how consistent they are at all of their locations.

  • Patrick K.

The service is bad. Enough said... Delivery takes over an hour on an island that takes no longer than 8 minutes to drive around full circle. Because of this eternal delivery time, I decided to pick up instead. Got there 5 minutes before they said I should go get it and no one pays attention to you when you walk in, they take forever to charge you and give you the pizza, and then it's already too cold.. Sir Pizza will alway reign supreme on the key!

3 words: Malo, Malo y Malo. Slow service and mediocre food. Better to starve yourself instead of going here.

I came here for a quick bite at 4pm on a Thursday. The dining room was empty and there were two small parties seated outdoors. We sat ourselves inside and despite the three employees standing just a few feet away, I had to get up to get myself a menu. About 10 minutes later someone came to get our drink order. Ten minutes later we got our drinks and ordered. The server came back almost 10 minutes later to tell me they were out of ravioli so, being in a hurry, I quickly changed my order. The food arrived quickly after that and was tasty enough; but at $15 for a bowl of pasta, I would hope so. When the food came out, I asked for bread and was told they were "out of bread". Oddly enough, the two parties outside both had baskets of bread on their tables. Before we were finished with our meal, we were presented with the check. No one asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. Needless to say, that was fine with me at that point. I had told my daughter about their delicious brownie dessert before we got there, as I used to be a regular lunch customer, and had every intention of ordering it, until the check arrived mid-meal. After about another 10 minutes of sitting at the table waiting for the waitress to come get my credit card, I finally just got up and brought her the card myself. She came to my table a few seconds later to tell me the computers were down so she would either need to take down my cc info or I would need to pay in cash. So I told her I preferred to pay in cash, but I had to get it from my car. I got up to go to my car but couldn't find my phone. The waitress had taken my phone and walked away! When I went to retrieve my phone, she told me she took it so I wouldn't leave without paying. What?!? Trust me, I understand the reasoning, but how about asking me before you take my phone? When I came back with the cash, the owner or manager offered to take the ATM fee off the check. I told him I had the cash in the car and, regardless, that was the least of the many problems with my visit. He was apologetic and offered a free brownie to compensate us for the poor service, but by that time, my mind was already made up. I will not return to this restaurant and do not recommend it. There are plenty of other options on the Key.

I was here at the beginning of January, and stayed across the street at the Ritz Carlton. I found the whole Key had pretty awful dining options (extremely overpriced and not many appeal to an English-speaking family from the Midwest, let's just put it that way). Anyway, we went to Archie's our last night and had a great experience. The server was great, the food was great, and they didn't even blink when we asked if our daughter could get pasta with melted butter instead of olive oil. I had a sausage pizza and my wife had a cheese ravioli dish. Both were excellent.

There is something on the menu for everyone's palate. They will make pasta any way you want it. Pizza is awesome. especially the fresh vegetable! Service can be slow at times because they do a lot of take out and delivery. Salads are fantastic! Highly recommend.

Food quality was decent but when we placed our to go order, our server misunderstood what we had requested and when I attempted to correct her, I received an eye roll and she slammed the menu down. She then proceeded to bad mouth us in Spanish to every employee she possible could, including the cook who was yelling back and forth with her. Everyone in my party is either a Hispanic or speaks fluent Spanish and we couldn't believe it. I will NEVER return here and will be sure to let everyone I know how nasty these employees were.

It's a shame that the service here is so crummy because the pizza is pretty good. I can't speak to pasta dishes as I have only had pizza, but they do have a full Italian menu. This is the 3rd time I have visited and after this visit, I really felt compelled to write. I was hoping that things would get better, but they just don't. The service is slow and the servers are inattentive and aloof. Please believe the others when they say the service is bad because truly, it is! We asked for red pepper flakes and had 2 shakers with Italian herbs put on our table. I think I saw our waiter twice during our entire dining experience and it was a looooong one because the food took forever and a day to come out. All we had were 3 pizzas and it took almost an hour. The restaurant, by the way, was empty. There were maybe 3 other families there besides us. I ordered a pizza with light cheese and it was waaaaaaaay cheesy. It had the same amount as the other pizza that was ordered with regular cheese. I am surprised this establishment has not taken these reviews to heart and done something about their sub-par service. It's really too bad.

We went in hopeful for a good pizza and ended up with food poisoning. The place was empty which should have been my first clue. Got the Archie's pizza...it was so amazingly salty. Service was sub par. There are better places to get pizza on the island.

My husband and I are foodies, and since we are in our 20s, you can expect that we love a good pizza. We were so happy to find a "gourmet" pizza place on our trip to Key Biscayne last weekend! The location of the place is great. When we walked in to the restaurant, we were barely greeted and told to seat ourselves as the guys working zoned into the Heat game on Sunday. The waiter eventually brought out our waters, which both (I SWEAR) smelled like wet dogs. I've recently moved from the north, and this is something that happens even in my own home... must just be the difference in water here. I can't judge a restaurant based on that alone. My husband went to the restroom and when he returned, I was already reaching in the bread they had brought to the table. The bread was good. It was a bit doughy, the olive oil dip only had black pepper in it (no garlic or herbs), and the bread was straight up cold like it had just come from the refrigerator. I told my husband that was kind of strange, but it seemed homemade and it had a good flavor, so we (again) weren't too concerned. My husband told me that the men's bathroom was weird. I asked him to describe what he meant and he couldn't. A bit unusual. We were torn between a few pizza options and we decided to go with the sausage and peppers pizza. When the "14 inch" pizza came out (which looked more like a 10 inch) we were discouraged to find that the sausage seemed more like sausage crumbles that you would find in a package of Lunchables (I don't think they have sausage, but the quality was that poor). We had been expecting freshly grilled and chopped Italian sausage from links cooked in the restaurant, considering this place calls themselves gourmet. We both ate a couple pieces and, bored with our meal, we ready to head to the beach. Before we went, I decided to use the restroom. I WISH I HAD GONE INTO THE BATHROOM BEFORE WE HAD EVEN ORDERED!! When I walked behind the doors of the women's bathroom, I was welcomed by 1 bathroom stall. Not so unusual... except that, outside of the stall, to the left of the door, I saw a Domino sugar bag. Now, why would they store sugar in the PAPER bag in the bathroom. Have you ever seen wet paper? That is not going to protect the sugar from bathroom water and other bacteria. I was also disgusted to find that they stored their wheat and white flower in a large container, ALSO IN THE WOMEN'S BATHROOM! If you don't believe me, GO there for yourself! I'm sure that once they read this review, they will remove it, so check out my photos. I was SOOO disgusted. Can it possibly be legal to store food ingredients in the bathroom?! NO! The health department better get on this ASAP. I don't even want to know what their kitchen looks like! When I returned to the table, my husband told me that we had been charged $16 for our FAR-FROM-GOURMET pizza rather than the $15 listed on the menu. Rather than arguing, we paid it and got far, far away.

The only reason I give this place two stars is because our first experience after moving to the Key and eating here was good. The veggie pizza we ordered was really good....THAT night. Fresh, snapping vegetables, super fresh tasting, good service. We left the restaurant thinking "Wow...we've found our pizza place only a 4 minute walk from where we live...cool!" And then they screwed us. About a month later, it was the height of the Sony Open (tennis) tournament. We accept that we live in a "touristy" place, but I have never seen the quality of a place sink so fast as here. First, when we came in, we said we would like water. The waitress said "we don't serve tap water, you can have bottled water for $1." Huh??? Only two weeks ago, tap water was free...now we're charged for water because of the tennis tournament? As an extra kick in the stomach, the "bottled water" came in a reusable glass bottle--you know, like somebody could stick under the tap and refill. Should have walked on principle right then and there, but we soldiered on. Our veggie pizza came out with the saddest looking vegetables ever. Color drained...bland tasting. Greasy. NOTHING like we had prior. And service with a thud...as bad as other reviewers have commented on. That was it. We have never been back. As I said, we are less than a 4 minute walk away from the front door of this place. We shop at the Winn-Dixie next door. And Archies will never see another dime from us. If anyone there reads this site, understand that this is how fast it takes to lose a customer...even customers who really, really want to like you.

Decent food, terrible service. I came in with 2 friends and placed a to-go order. We had some other friends who were going to call in their order and have us pick it up for them at the same time. Easy, right? Well with the amount of attitude we were given from the server you would have thought we were asking for the moon. The server became confused immediately at our fairly simple situation (the 2 orders were even the exact same - large cheese pizza and mozzarella sticks) and proceeded to get angry. She was bad mouthing my group in the restaurant and our friends who had called in to the cook in Spanish. Really? Bad mouthing customers in Spanish, in Miami, while they stand 5 feet away? We all understood every word she was saying, so that was real slick on her part. In the end we got our food fairly quickly, even though the 2 identical orders rang up to 2 different amounts, and enjoyed it enough. Too bad the server soured us all on the entire experience.

Ok, Archie's. I have been a loyal customer for over 8 years now - back in my high school days, nothing put me in quite a good of a mood as some fresh foccaccia and my favorite caramelized onions and apples pizza (yea, I made it up, and yea it's awesome) - and when I was younger we'd laugh about how terrible the service was and it was all in good fun. But, seriously. It's been 8 years. Step up your game in the service department and get back to serving FRESH bread, please.

Just had a roasted veggie pizza for lunch and it was fantastic. Forgot our leftovers. Bad mistake but it only had One slice. Love the way they thinly sliced the eggplant, zukes, red pep. Nice portobellos too. Fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. Sun dried tomatoes too! Light airy dough. Great service. Def worth going. Ice cold beer and wines galore.

Dear Archie's, I know I have a love-hate relationship with you, but I honestly don't mean to. The food is so good and it makes me so happy, but my dining-in experiences are not as timely as need be for a lunch break. So I found the perfect solution: I order take out and run across the street to pick it up. This way, I don't need to worry about the time, because I can pick up my food as soon as it's ready and I'm back at my office within 3 minutes. Problem solved. I order from here regularly for lunch, and after being on vaca for a few days, I knew just what I wanted to eat. :) Today I ordered something I never have - the Tomato Basil soup. I have to say, I am a new fan. It was nice and creamy, with nice-sized pieces of tomato and onions. There was just the right amount of basil, so it wasn't overwhelming. Mmmm Mmmm Good! I also had my usual, of course, the Steak Panino, which was really tasty as always. I love that you use real Churrasco steak for this sandwich. I guess it's the reason I can't bring myself to order anything else on the menu! It also has red peppers, onions, and provolone cheese. OMG, just scrumptious. Thanks for a tasty lunch. I will be back, of course. And hopefully soon I'll gain the courage to give you another chance to dine in. ;-) See you soon, SabrinaAnna*

Went back (what a mistake). Very slow service. Poor choices on the menu. The chicken lasagna was not cooked enough. The large salad was not "large". Many other better choices in Key Biscayne.

Thin crust pizza with a good array of toppings. There's a decent menu of other italian dishes. (I like the gorgonzola/pear salad). The restaurant is located adjacent to the Winn-Dixie shopping plaza. The pies are a bit on the small side for the price, but quality has been pretty reliable. Delivery note: At peak periods, you can wait up to an hour for a pizza, and sometimes, they'll disconnect you when you call. Just be aware.

  • Kelly M.

I love their food but the service needs to be improved. I walked in today and no one was in the restaurant but the staff was all sitting around. When I asked if they were open I got a yes, but no one offered to direct me to a seat or welcome me. I had to ask if I could choose where to sit and I got a "yeah, wherever you want" stated over the shoulder of one of the staff. Once I sat down I had to wait a good 10 minutes for someone to ask me what I want to drink. Again, I was the only customer! I will say that I am in love with their Pico de Gallo grilled chicken salad and the tomato and mozzarella (real mozzarella) appetizer. I just don't understand how they can have such good food and be so bad at service. Maybe ordering take out is the way to go!

I was really hesitant about going for pizza in Miami considering I'm a new yorker but I definitely do not regret the choice. I had the garden pizza, it was amazing. It was the equivalent of 3 new York slices and it was delicious. All of my favorite things minus oil and for less than $20. Awesome. My friends had really good food too. I'll post pictures.

I've just stopped by to grab something to go and I asked for a pizza and the server goes and tells me that It will take 25 mins ?? I said ok no worries I'll take a panini instead I don't have much time and he said one second I have to ask the chef who is right behind the counter and he started screaming , then the server comes and says 20 mins??? I said you know what I'll just take a juice ....ohh sorry we don't have the flavor ...... Never coming back, I just drove from Aventura to waste my time. Very disapointed!

Stayed in Biscayne Bay before we went on a cruise and was looking for a casual place to eat. Someone recommended a Peruvian restaurant in the same center and it was just not what I was looking for. I saw Archie's across the way and I'm always down for some pizza. My friend I was with looked it up on Yelp and saw this place was only 3 stars so we were hesitant, but tired and hungry and willing to take the chance. Yelper a that made this 3 stars are CRAZY! The food was DELICIOUS!!!!! The bread they bring out to put on the table was AMAZING!! I got a steak sesame salad was AMAZING and the pizza = AMAZING. Matter of fact, I am writing this review from Archie's right now - because we came back for lunch!!

I have been to Archie's Pizza twice. What an error. 1st visit: The first time was with my mother and 2 dogs (outside seating with canines ok). Though there was one server there was only one seated table already eating when we arrived. Server was borderline rude and took forever. He only became INCREDIBLY NICE when he handed us the check and complimented the dogs. What an OBVIOUS PLOY FOR A TIP. 2nd visit: I arrived alone with the dogs. Sat outside. 4 MINUTES LATER (yes I'm an obsessive timer) another party sat inside and was immediately greeted. I continued ignored outside (WHILE THE DOGS BARKED THE ENTIRE TIME) for another 2 minutes till someone dropped off bread. I explained I was ready to order, he said the server would take it. A different surly server arrived. The server who took my order WAS NOT THE ONE WHO WAS WAITING ON THE INSIDE DINERS. 2 SERVERS. RIDICULOUS WAIT. I dined here bc it's close to the dog beach. Next time I'll go to subway.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
