Average food. Dated decor. Older clientele. Unwelcoming management. Lots of better options.

Very very good. Wine list is very light, food was amazing. Dated and older crowd, excellent food.

Italian We were in town and the future in-laws took us to Portobello Cucina for dinner. The place does a banging business which you notice as you pull up to the long cue of cars in the valet line. The clientele is on the older side and maybe as a result the service is very good and very personal. The servers are johnny-on-the-spot with everything starting with a nice roasted garlic spread and some hot bread for the table. The menu is pretty expansive - a little something for everyone, plus there are nightly specials as well. The food came out in relatively short order- this place is used to doing volume and it shows. Waiters and runners got all orders correct and sent to the right person at the table. Drinks from the bar were well made and also quickly delivered. Food overall was solid - I would call it right up the middle in terms of taste etc. Sauce was good, not sweet, meats were cooked correctly and everyone seemed satisfied with the meal. After dinner drinks and deserts rounded out the evening. All in all a solid 3-star outing. Valet parking.

Went here last evening for dinner to celebrate my hosts birthday. Quite a crowd on hand for a Thursday evening. We were greeted and seated in no time. Great vibe when you 1st arrive as everyone is so friendly, cordial and very welcoming. 1st impressions are everything. We sat down (party of 4) and were attended to quickly by the server and wait staff who promptly brought water and our drinks and bread basket- our choice for the evening was a generous glass of Valpolicella red wine ( they offer a huge selection of wine and spirits) We started with calamari fritta which was accompanied with a red marinara sauce that you can tell is freshly made in house and let me tell you, I've never had a fresher batch of perfectly ,great tasting calamari, and it was delicious! Noticing how the servings are generous we opted to just stick to the calamari although looking at the menu there is a wide variety of appetizers to select from and if the calamari was an indication of how good it was , then order away, you will not regret your choice for whatever your taste buds yearns for. I ordered Vitello al Limone,-Veal pefectly prepared in a lemon sauce , which was juicy and tender. You have the choice of having it served with veggies or pasta and I opted for linguine and I hit it on the spot for choice, it was fantastic!!! There is a nice selection of Veal dinner plates and you can't go wrong here. Two of our party opted for the crab cake with lobster special and it was so so good that I almost wanted to order a "to go" order for a midnite snack!! lol -Very Good! The 4th of our party ordered a Filet of Sole and has never been disappointed, they are regulars at this establishment and since I'm on my annual vacation to this wonderful state of Florida, they took me to this awesome looking ,quiet, classy restaurant, and I couldn't be happier. Great way to start my vacation. I will surely seek this spot out when I return to the area. Italian at its best in Southern Florida. Prices are very reasonable and you do get your moneys worth. The service here is very very good. there are very attentive to your needs, and are very quick to your requests. Everything here flows so smoothly that you don't ever wait more than 1 minute for any request which range from more water/coffee , silverware awesome place!!!!

I was a little surprised, but heartened, to see the restaurant was nearly full on a recent Friday in slow season. Our party of six were seated at a comfortable round table and our waitress Ginny was right there getting us started with drinks, bread, etc. I was also surprised to see that the large bar was packed with people enjoying a drink and many were also dinning. The wine list had a number of reasonably priced offerings, as did the list of the evening's specials. Our meals were all enjoyed, a steamed lobster, two Bronzino fish dishes...I had the Hog Snapper, my wife had the pollo di franco, and lastly a spinach lasagna. There is a happy vibe here, with an older demographic, in this well decorated restaurant. Our bill came to $96 a couple, pre-tip. Not bad for this level of quality, in this part of south Florida.

An expensive meal gone wrong waited 46minutes for the untrained waiter to take our order. My wife ordered chichen scarparello on the bone. It came out as white meat. Sent it back after speaking to the idiot manager who told us this is the way they prepare it. Dah. After waiting more than 30 min we cancelled the order. The manager was belligerent my wife's friends order was cold when served. The manager should be hung from tree.

We ate at the bar so I can't speak much to the service but the meal was A-Ok! I ordered the lobster ravioli. I took a taste of the pistachio gelato which was AMAZING however so it seems as though dessert is something you should certainly save room for. Others said their spaghetti was excellent, fish lack luster.

I'm hoping that we just picked the worst thing on the menu, but the first review is a negative one. Maybe next time we'll just go here for a glass of wine before we go somewhere else. I was really really excited about this place. When I got there, it had a cool, classy feel to it. The bar was full and two seats opened up just as we walked up. The bartender was great and the people around us were chatty. Get this - they have a Montepulciano and a Super Tuscan by the glass! Then we got the dinner which was a disappointment. I might try it again just because I liked the restaurant and try to find something on the menu I like, but these are the things that won't be on my list next time: 1. Gnochi Bolognese - too much tomato and not enough meat. Really lacking flavor or character. 2. Filet of Sole - this was just mushy and not great. Really just bland.

Second time here, and I'm really starting to like it here. The decor is very old fashioned but the food is great. A little too salty for me, but it's great Italian food. I had the spinach lasagna and mozzarella tomato and roasted peppers tower. The tower was great, especially with the roasted red peppers. Bathrooms were your standard kind but they were indeed, clean.

the service 21st excellent. we went on a Thursday night. it's not season yet and the room was 3/4 full. a bit of an older crowd, which speaks to the quality. I would return.

We have eaten at Portobello many times over the years. There have been great dinners and some less stellar, however in the last year particularly, we have had only positive experiences. We have enjoyed many items, including the tricolore salad, veal Marsala, gnocchi bolognese and tartufo dessert, as well as various seafood dishes. Our meals have been tasty and service has been efficient and friendly, from the valet to wait staff. When recommending local restaurants, we have chosen Portobello for its consistently good food and welcoming atmosphere.

Despite some other non-complimentary Yelp reviews we read, we went here anyway and had a really outstanding meal. Amazing, too, was that we got in on Xmas eve when many lesser places were closed. Filet of Sole Florentine was very very good, altho the waiter was pushing Hog Snapper for $38 instead of the sole for $26. Linquini Fruitti de Mare was good and so was the lobster ravioli. They have a good wine list with a spectrum of wines, including at the value end of the list. Give it a whirl.

AWFUL. Everything was just terrible. Me and my family went for my grandparents 55th wedding anniversary dinner because we had been told the food was good... SO BEYOND WRONG. I've give it negative stars if I could. 1. The service was SLOW. 2. Took 2 hours to get our meals 3. My grandpa's meal was cold 4. My brothers meal was just gross- the crab was fishy (AKA BAD) and the veal tasted FUNKY. 5. My grandpas reheated food didn't come out for at least 30 mins. 6. The waiter never told his manager/ got his manager when my dad asked to speak to him. 7. The waiter proceeded to be EXTREMELY RUDE & argued with my father. 8. The manager/owner comes out and says he was in kitchen and no one told him we wanted to see him (UH DUDE- YOU WERE IN THE KITCHEN AND YOU LET THE FOOD GO OUT THAT TERRIBLE?!?!?!) 9. As locals, we usually ignore all of those stuck up snow birds, but the ones at the restaurant were just outright rude. Making nasty comments about literally everything and loud enough for everyone to hear. Just terrible. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST. Ruined what was supposed to be a great night celebrating our grandparents.

Excellent Italian restaurant! In an area that's not necessarily known for good Italian food, this place has them beat. It was very crowded this past Saturday, but our party of 6 was seated relatively quickly. We ordered lobster ravioli, cannelloni with chicken & veal, eggplant parm. All were excellent. The sauce is very good, and my cannelloni very tasty. Also ordered dessert which were very good. Only suggestion is that the waitress seemed a bit overwhelmed; she should be more pleasant. Highly recommend!!

Really less than fair. Went here based on a review in the Palm Beach Post. We sat outside, which was nice. I realize this is Florida, but the average age inside was near 75. The food was fair and rather pricey. The waiter (I think we had one) pretty much ignored us once we gave our order. The remainder of the night we were tended to by busers. Obviously, we will not be back.

Don't know why it is so difficult to get decent Italian food in Florida, especially since there are so many Italians. The artichoke was not memorable other than that it cried for a little lemon. The rest of the meal was not particularly good....a very ordinary 'lasagna'. Would not go back.

Service good. Salad very good. Hot food seemed microwaved. Way too hot in the center to have been seared or sautéed. Seemed very American Italian for flavors. Wouldnt go back.

MUST GO HERE!!!! The food is fabulous and the people are so nice. Good for big parties. The food is fabulous. Literally can't go wrong with anything on the menu. They always seem to have a lobster special which I had once and it was to die for! it is a little expensive, but TOTALLY WORTH IT! I always go with my family and we have a great time.

Our last visit to town, we ate here and I was more impressed with the food. We tried again on our recent visit to town and I ordered the same dish as I had previously and truly, I wasn't all that enthused. First, the prices are steep here for what you get, so prepare to pay top dollar for a really nice ambience as the setting is lovely. For my dinner, the first thing I noticed is that my piece of bread out of the bread basket seemed to have a light circle on the bottom of it that appeared to me that it could have been mold. That was not the best way to start a meal. I ordered a glass of wine and my first sip had a vinegary taste, which you sometimes taste when a wine is old. It did taste better as I sipped it, but, I don't know..... Then, my seafood platter included scallops (actually it was one scallop which had been sliced horizontally to appear as two). Biting into them, they were gritty as if they had not been cleaned properly. Lastly, our waiter, who wasn't really that present except for the beginning and the end of our meal, made a rather insulting remark to my husband. He laughed as though he thought he were funny saying it, but it was fairly rude. Although, my first impression on our first visit was positive, I must say that I don't think we will be returning here on our next visit in town. While the setting is lovely, and you have the impression that you are being served an upscale meal (and prices to prove it), it really wasn't a great dining experience.

By far the best Italian in the Jupiter/Gardens area. Service is amazing, food is consistently superb and the ambiance is old world italian. I recommend this place to anyone looking for great italian with excellent fish and meat options (try the veal chop parmisian, dover sole or bronzini specials). Make sure you stop by the bar and say hello to Giovanni - one of the best bartenders in town!

Beautiful dinning room, Great service and most important good Italian food! We ordered a stuffed artichoke, sauteed calamari, cannaloni and lobster raviolis. Not sure which one was best, they were all good!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
