SO. I LIKE FISH AND I'M FROM FLORIDA. Saldy, we can not all be as cool as those from the Northwest. However, I have lived in Florida most of my life, and I have traveled most of the world (including the Pacific Northwest). While we poor Floridians may not know a lot about totem poles or yuppie coffee houses, we do know fish. Pinders is, without a doubt, one of the best seafood markets on the East Coast. Their fish is beyond fresh. Of course since salmon and halibut are Pacific fish, it's not going to be as fresh as local fish (grouper, snapper, etc). But for the other reviewer to pan Pinders based on her self-admitted lack of knowledge about fish is just ignorant. I have introduced many visiting guests to Pinder's seafood -- especially their best-I've-ever-had shrimp -- and they have all raved about the quality and freshness of the fish. I do not work for Pinder's, nor do I know anyone who does. I just don't like snotty people bombing someplace when they obviously have no idea what they're talking about. Sorry, Lanny, nothing personal. It's probably best you just stay in Seattle where things are more to your taste. (And who in their right mind would put liquid smoke on fish?!?! YUCK!!!)

The products and selection are immense, but the prices pretty high. $25/lb for red snapper the other day. Can't you get that in a restaurant, cooked and served, for less than that? Just my first impression.

They have a great selection of fresh fish. I was pretty surprised the first time I went there because it doesn't look like much from the street but really is a great fish market. They always have the normal popular seafood as well as the local Florida fish that are in season.

Really disappointed with this place. Half the fish looks worse than Publix. I think they're experiencing slow turns and have a quality control problem. I've just returned smoked fish today that smelled like cheese. It seemed the management was really indifferent about this issue. They asked me "well what did you do with the fish"? I answered, "tried to eat it but couldn't because it was spoiled'! no discount, no care about the fact that I made a trip to buy it, a trip to return it on Sunday(closed) and another trip to return it on Monday. I'll take my business elsewhere.

I always purchase seafood from Pinder's. They have an amazing variety of fish and it's always fresh and reasonably priced. I often go here for lunch for one of the freshly made soups. Since I discovered Pinder's, I can't buy seafood from supermarket anymore.

SO. I LIKE FISH. I like it so much, that I make my hosts buy some while I'm on vacation. I came to Jupiter twice this summer to visit my dad before he had open heart surgery. Being that he was requiring a special diet, we agreed fish was the best option. My dad directed me to Pinder's and suggested that I get a couple of liters of their lobster bisque in addition to whatever fish I chose. I couldn't pick any fish. I couldn't do it. I'm a northwest native. I get the best cuts of the freshest fish on a weekly basis. You've never had fish until You have had the first piece of Copper River Salmon on the first run of the season. (barbecued with Maple syrup and liquid smoke - FTW) I took one look at the fish, and was immediately turned off. I'd rather buy GROCERY STORE FISH from Publix. It was so sad and dried out. Maybe these poor Floridians don't know any better, but Halibut shouldn't be beige, Salmon shouldn't be gray, and Tuna shouldn't be pink. Now, I'm no fish monger, but shouldn't be fish be displayed on ice? They had them in cooler cases, but the cuts of fish were all laying on those little pads they put in the bottom of steak trays to absorb the blood. That can't be good for the flavor of the fish. This just in from my boss (Who IS a Fishmonger): It's not good for the flavor of the fish, But neither is letting it rot... The bisque was OK though. Cream based SOUP was probably not the best choice for dinner in July in South Florida. Maybe.
