Cute, homey, mom & pop-type establishment. Interesting, well-made sandwiches, friendly service, and great prices. If you're in the area and are looking for a nice, casual, and affordable meal, come here!

Used to be our favorite place to grab lunch or a casual dinner. The Bronco Burger is very good. They have broccoli slaw, which is great if you've never tried it. We usually sit in the bar section when we go and built a pretty good acquaintance with the best bartender in Jacksonville, Brian. He will remember what you drink and your name after just one visit. His customer service was also top notch, going out of his way to make customers feel at home. Sadly, Brian left last year and the new staff can be indifferent. We sat at the bar one very slow day for fifteen minutes and the bartender never asked for our order. Needless to say, we got up and left. It still can be an ok experience, just depends on who's working.

I've been three times now to Tom & Betty's and every time it's just as tasty as the last! I had the "Mack" today, a club sandwich with roast beef, turkey, ham, bacon, and the standard fare in fixins The deli meats were fresh! The bacon was crispy! The veggies were light & fresh too.I had french fries as my side and they were crispy and golden brown. My sweet tea had a slightly weird taste to it that made me imagine the kettle it's brewed in needs a good scrubbing. I had lunch with my girlfriend, Mom, and Aunt and everyone really enjoyed their meals. Whenever I want a great sandwich with some crispy fries, Tom & Betty's is the first place I think of!

My husband and I have loved coming here for the past couple of years. We used to eat dinner here every Friday night. Recently it seems like things have changed. The last two times we have come to this restaurant ,our experience has been horrible. The most recent time after we ordered our food, we noticed our fries did not taste right. They had a fish after taste to them. We asked the waitress if the cook used to the same oil to cook the fish. She said no that they didn't serve fish. We asked if we could get pasta salad instead. She took the fries away and gave us a dirty look. Then she had every member of the kitchen staff come out to our table and look at us. It was a very strange experience. I don't know what has happened, but I hope this restaurant can come back to the way it used to be. The staff was always friendly and the food was always good. I didn't even mind the tables always being sticky.

I honestly like this place alot. The food is always good, and the service is wonderful. Seems like the servers have been there a while and are very knowledgable about the menu and the specials. The only thing wierd about this place is the location and the lighting. Its dark and there are no windows (its an interior unit of a strip mall).

Tom & Bettys is our local afternoon lunch destination in the neighborhood. Many of the employees have been working there for 10 years or more. This place is just like cheers it's a neighborhood place where everybody knows your name. When I walk in the bar the bartender, Patty, has my drink on the bar before my butt hits the seat. She knows what I eat for lunch and often I can call her while I'm driving from work and she will have it ordered and ready by the time I get there. I always get a salad with blackened chicken because they have the best blue cheese dressing I have ever tasted. They have a lunch special for every day of the week and I hear the meatloaf is quite good. The portions are large, I have never finished a salad here. They have this sliced turkey sandwich that is about 3 inches thick. I love the fried pickles and fried green tomatoes, freshly made and served piping hot and crispy. I would eat here every day if my arteries could handle it...

Ate here yesterday.. You got to try their BLT sandwich.... there is so much bacon on the sandwich you would think they got a hole package of bacon on the sandwich... the place got only a three star from me because I felt like I was in a cave.. it's Very dark and gloomy inside.

This place is great! We were told by a friend to give it a try. We've been there a couple of times now for lunch and plan to become regulars. Great atmosphere - friendly staff - great food! Portions are huge so be prepared for a feast!

Not good enough and hardly tryiing any more. Ive been coming here for literally decades, it used to be a favorite weekend spot. Food is not seasoned and often overcooked. Quality of the ingedients has fallen off, unfortunately: dont kid anyone that the hamburger is still hand-patted, and the chicken strips are Hungry Man-caliber. There are many places to choose from in the King St. district with fresher ingredients, better drinks and a better atmosphere. Money is hard to earn; T&B's doesnt try enough anymore for my night-out dollar. C'mon. Make the entrance inviting, spruce up the inside, elevate the menu and for goodness' sake, clean the restrooms. Tired and sad is no way to run a place that is grateful for its customers

I've been going to Tom & Betty's since "before the fire", when they were located on Cassat. Have always enjoyed the sandwiches, which are huge, and the automobile themed decor. If you're a first timer, know that it's a bit dark inside. My visit yesterday was a little disappointing. I opted for the fish 'n' chips; I shoulda known better. It wasn't horrible, just not very appealing. I could have had essentially the same thing at Cap'n D's for half the price. The whiff off the dumpster as you enter and exit was especially strong yesterday. Guess that's just a random factor, depends on which way the wind is blowing. Stick to the sandwiches and burgers, and you'll be ok.

I haven't been to Tom & Betty's in a month of Sunday's. For those of you in rio linda that works out to be about 20ish years. They have even torn the old place down and built a new much fancier place. They still have the old signage but now it is on the wall on the inside. A long with about 40-50 car tags. I walked in and the place is nice an open with plenty of seats. I sat down and waited for my server. I got my drink and was told some guy would come get my order. Then a young lady walked up and asked me for my order. I thought I heard young man named Matt but this will work just fine. I ordered a Alfa Romeo or otherwise known as an Italian sub. When it arrived it was huge and there was a mound of homemade potato salad. They even left the skins on the potatoes just the way I like it. It tasted really good and my sandwich was also quite tasty. The sandwich was filled with all kinds of the meats of Italy. Ham (sorry American) but pepperoni, salami, provolone cheese and then the normal fixins. In all a really good sandwich and now I wish that I wouldn't have waited till the last day of the job to eat here. I really don't think that it will be 20 more years till I stop in.

I heard good things about this place and I was not disappointed!! The decor is awesome with retro auto and travel things hanging on the walls. I got the Prius sandwich with grilled chicken and pasta salad. The hoagie bun was so soft and yummy. It had tons of sauteed vegetables on it plus gooey melted cheddar cheese throughout. Definitely worth the money. Pasta. Salad was good but not my favorite. Our waitress Rebecca was extremely nice. All in all a good place to eat and hang out.

Bartenders sitting outside smoking when we pulled up. Finished their butts before serving the bar. Again, are they trying to go out of business? How do you not at least check to see if we bellied up. Which we did and waited some time. That's not the issue. Get back to work!

I had lunch here with my girlfriend on a Friday. For a diner type experience, the food is great and the service from Ryan was amazing. I had the Toronado, a French dip, and my date had the Mustang, a chicken sandwich. Ryan recommended the ranch dressing for our side salads. They make it themselves and it is the best I've ever had. If you're looking for a diner type establishment or a lunch spot, this place is perfect.

Probably shouldn't walk into a restaurant without a tank top, but I did one day. Sat at the bar and the bartender asked me to leave. Thought he was kidding and then he said "that's absolutely unacceptable, get out of my restaurant." I've never seen such a nasty dive restaurant with employees who thought they were working in a five star hotel. Pretentious unfriendly and EXTREMELY unprofessional. When I called the manager to complain I was informed that he was also appalled by my "behavior". I would have been more than happy to have left and come back if I would have just been asked politely. The only reason this place is getting one star is because there is no option to leave no stars.

The new owners are slowly bringing the food and entertainment and staff up to speed. The bartenders are unreal slow to fill orders unless you are sitting at the bar. The servers themselves are pleasant but cant handle a packed house. The menu has lost a few key items like the Laser which is a shame. The burgers are amazing as are the seasoned fries. Skip the potato salad, even fresh (according to our server) it was rubbery and sad with too much pickle relish. The Hyundai sandwich that I had was huge very nicely plated and tasted pretty good but I missed the in house made roast beef that they had before as the meats are now only slightly above Subway quality. I would be happy to pay a little more for better quality. The bands are great! With a little tweaking Tom & Betty's would be back to a solid 4 star. Please put a fire to the bartenders behinds!

The whole family and I ate lunch at Tom & Betty's yesterday and thoroughly kicked ourselves for not having eaten here before. The menu is deceptively simple. Nice large selection of appetizers and the food is almost all sandwiches or burgers. BUT the options were almost endless and it was very hard to narrow it down to one thing to order because many things just sounded so delish. The servers/wait staff were very friendly, personable, and prompt. They had no problem pushing tables together to seat 5 of us. Granted, we did get there early and by the time we left the place was totally packed so I would suggest that you might prepare to wait if you have a large crowd with you. We skipped appetizers and went straight to the meal. Youngest had cheeseburger sliders & french fries and was happy as a clam. Oldest son and I had chicken "burgers" (whole flattened chicken breasts, one fried and one blackened - blackened was best) and younger son had an actual hamburger (huge). We all had different toppings and we were all thrilled with what we got. All the toppings were very fresh and generous. French fries were cooked perfect and the option of kettle chips (potato) was nice as well. Husband had the Nash - a Tex-mex chicken & queso wrap which was humongous and delish and a side of potato salad which tasted great and "just made" (not sitting around getting soggy). We were so tempted by the desserts but passed because the food amounts were so great. They have hand-dipped milkshakes and some silly things that sounded great like funnel cakes with fruit toppings and ice cream. Totally cracked me up. The decor makes you smile - especially if you like cars. The walls are decorated with bumpers, license plates, car pictures, etc., and the booths look like back seats of old Chevys. LOL The menu is full of car references as well. And yes, this place was dark with no windows and is located in a strip mall, but who cares? Sometimes the greatest places are in the weirdest spots. *wink* I definitely recommend everyone to come here.
