ive been loyal to sushi rock until a recent move from orange park to ponte vedra beach -- though i will still drive into orange park to visit my parents & i try to make a trip to sushi rock everytime. hiroshi -- the japanese sushi chef is wonderful. if you want good rolls & good recommendations -- get on his good side. :) he takes care of people he likes & he loves coors light. buy him a beer! hes introduced me to many kinds of sushi and he identified my favoooorite kind of sushi ever which is a concoction made with raw tuna / avocado / cucumber & other things. sushi rock has always had impecable customer service. their servers have always been great to me & the food always comes out speedy. ive eaten both hibachi & sushi -- both being amazing. i HIGHLY recommend sushi rock. its one of my favorite sushi places in jacksonville. EDIT : This location is no longer owned by Kyodai Sushi Rock.

Overall, good sushi. I'll order from there again. I ordered to-go, so no comment on service other than to say that the person who took the order didn't know the menu very well and didn't know the Japanese names for the items. The sushi didn't hold together as well as I'd like, so when dipping, the rice would fall apart into the soy sauce.

First the pros: Polite staff, great service, amusing 90's soundtrack which had travel chica and I reminiscing of the younger years. How many times have you heard Color Me Badd sing about sexing you up while sipping on Japanese soup? Then after that song, NKOTB. Yes, I said it. However, not a fan of their sushi. I ordered the San Marco roll, a deep fried type of sushi. Usually deep fried at sushi places isn't as greasy as this. Aww... The cream cheese in the sushi was also warm and I felt kind of sick after eating it. I think they forgot to keep it cold. Lucky for them, I have a strong stomach, so I didn't Get sick. A really cool thing about Japanese culture is how much they emphasize art in everything they do. Usually when I get sushi, it looks like a work of art. There wasn't much of a presentation of the sushi at this place. It was simply just placed on the plate without any thought. Linda M. is right, it did look like a diner inside. Not a sushi place type of ambiance. Would I come back? If I was starving and craving sushi while in San Marco, maybe. But better to safe your belly and splurge a little for the eateries nearby.

Well my first Sushi bar in Jacksonville and may be my last. After talking to the sushi chef, he informed me that all the fish comes from Miami. They get the slim pickings in Jacksonville and Orange Park. He said Miami and Orlando get the good stuff. They don't even have Toro or my favorite Suzuki (sea bass). SERVICE: excellent service very attentive and quick. No complaints in this department ATMOSPHERE: sushi bar was large U shaped and nicely decorated. This is also a steak house so for the meat lovers this place looks good, much like a Benihana restaurant, where the chefs stir-fry and grill at your tableside. FOOD: Well as I stated the chefs don't have the best selection but what they did have was good and well prepared. The presentation was not impressive. When I eat sushi I expect to eat editable art. The price was decent but all the sushi was per piece, most places it's for two pieces. Over all not a bad dining experience and if they can get a hold of some quality fish this could easily go 5 stars but for now 4 is the best I can give.

Good sushi. Nice decor. Great location. We'll definitely go there again and see if we can't pump it up to a 4 star. Service will have to get a little more personality to it for that to happen. They are definitely fast. Just not much personality. This was our first visit to the San Marco area. What a cool little area. Lots of choices.

I'll start by saying it looks as though the previous reviewer was in a different Sushi Rock as the pictures are not familiar to me. That being said, the experience is pretty much the same for me. Given the fish market in Jacksonville none of the local sushi places are getting very high quality fish. It's certainly not terrible, but it's not quite what I'm used to. My sushi was well prepared and I found the chef to be delightful to talk to while he rolled my lunch. The same can be said for the rest of the Sushi Rocks employees. All were attentive and pleasant. The chicken fried rice I ordered as I said came out quickly and was as expected. Their sake was warm and delicious, but of course I'm a sucker for sake. I found the whole premise for the restaurant a bit odd, but it was kinda fun and not at all off putting. Overall when I need a sushi fix I'll be going back here as it isn't going to get a whole let better for sushi in Jax.

Having just moved here from California, I was looking for sushi that would be comparable or at least reasonably tasty. Well, this place isn't it. BTW, it is also listed on Yelp twice under the same address but a slightly different name. Pros: 1) Low prices 2) Polite and attentive waitstaff Cons: 1) Most dishes that include crab use imitation krab with a 'k'. Yuck. 2) More than half of their rolls include tempura seafood or the entire roll is deep-fried. 3) The decor is pretty lame. Looks like a cheap diner inside. 4) One of the servers had a young son running around the restaurant yelling and I saw him climb up to the sushi bar and drink straight from the soy sauce bottles. He put them back and had I not seen it, someone else would have used those bottles. Yuck again! When I did notify one of the waitstaff of this, she seemed confused and didn't do anything. I picked up the bottles and put them in the bus pan. I probably would have been OK with this place when I was a poor college student looking for sushi, but since I'm no longer in that situation, I can't imagine coming back here. So I'm still on the look out for good sushi in Jax.

Excellent Sushi, excellent location with an outdoor patio (outdoor dining options are lacking here in Jax). Really great service and attractive and clean environment.
