Sushi House for lunch is the spot. Sushi rolls for days. Great food. Good (but not friendly) service. Yeah there really is a difference. For weeks I have been craving sushi. Didn't feel like punkin out and grabbing something from Publix so I set up a quick lunch date. He said he hated sushi but had never tried it? So that friendly service was non existence when trying to figure out a roll that date was willing to try. There was a noticeable annoyance in the employee having to wait on people that were extra picky and indecisive in their choices. Nothing bad - but can't be called friendly. No biggie this place has both cooked and raw items that can accommodate almost any palate. Start him off slow with Jaguar roll since he likes avocado. I rebuke California roll. While I grab some shrimp tempura and a king roll. Food was pretty good and not a long wait. He's now thinking of getting a tattoo that says (hashtag) SushiLife...I hope he's joking but Sushi House might have helped create another sushi lover.

I ordered non-Sushi food (the salmon and shrimp hibachi) and spring rolls for delivery. The food was awful. The spring rolls were very greasy and tasted like they had been sitting out all day and refried again and maybe again. The salmon was greasy and smelled terrible. The shrimp was rubbery and very small. Nothing tasted fresh. The rice and noodles were okay, I guess, although nothing smelled right. I threw everything out immediately because I couldn't stand the smell and it was making me feel sick just having it in the trash. My cats didn't beg for the salmon and shrimp like they usually do. They didn't want any part of it either. I called the next day and the restaurant told me there was nothing they could do since I called the next day instead of calling immediately. I explained that I felt sick for hours after eating just a little bit of the food and was just hoping I could keep what I had eaten down. My advice on this restaurant would be to order and eat in so you can report immediately on any food that tastes bad.

As far as sushi in Jacksonville goes, this place is top-notch. High-quality ingredients, consistent preparation, and competitive prices. I love the hibachi dinners, too. This restaurant delivers to me on a weekly basis.

This is my favorite place to get sushi in Jax. I eat here at least twice a month and never have a bad experience. The food is always freshly prepared and tastes amazing. I'm really into the Japanica and the Pacifica rolls. Both are delicious, but really, anything I order here is great. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is comfortable and casual. The prices are reasonable, unlike some other sushi establishments I've been to in this city, and I feel like I get the best quality for my money here. Definitely give them a try before you head to other places that might look more swanky or trendy. Given a choice, I'd pick this restaurant every single time.

Good place to eat. Another good Sushi place in the list. The thing that stands out for me is the Salmon Lovers dish on the menu.. 7 Salmon Makizushi and 7 Nigirizsushi, with the traditional Wasabi and Pickled Ginger. A nice place to relax, not crowded even at 12 in the afternoon. Been to many sushi restaurants that I'd keep going back to, this is another one... Especially at lunch time! The portions of sushi were a little large, found myself covering my mouth while chewing down - not a bad thing! Also, unlike the ambience and the TV with the news channels the music was soothing and added to the experience. Waiters were knowledgeable and the soup in the beginning without question is a good touch. Though the waitress did bring me the Miso soup without asking and I needed to ask her to get me the clear which she did with a smile.

This is the worst restaurant ever... To the owners of this place... I have made an online order for delivery... After 2h50min of wait, I was told that the restaurant closed and will no longer deliver... If you cannot handle deliveries don't take online orders... This is the second time u do this with me.. I will never order from you again, and will not recommend you to anyone.

My co-workers order sushi from here about once a week. While the dynamite roll is good, it's far from the best I've ever had. This spot is consistent and we will continue to order from here during the week for their cheap delivery.

I used to love going here regularly for some sushi at lunch, but it seems like the quality of their sushi has been going downhill lately. I just got the California roll and rainbow roll to-go for dinner tonight. The first thing I noticed was the huge amount of cucumber in the California roll. Their menu states that California roll consists of crab meat, avocado, and cucumber. But in reality, it's mostly cucumber and minimum amount of crab and avocado! Please look at the pictures and judge for yourself. If I wanted that much cucumber in my sushi, then I would've ordered the cucumber roll. It seems like they're trying to save some money on ingredients at the expense of their customers, and that is unacceptable to me. To make things worse, the sushi immediately started falling apart when I tried to pick them up with the chopstick! You know the sushi is crappy when it falls apart that easily. Also, some of the avocado on my rainbow roll were beginning to go bad (see picture). The fishes did not taste fresh. All in all, this was a terrible experience for me, and I will not be coming back to Sushi House anymore.

Grossest food I have ever eaten in my life. Nothing was salvageable. Steak and scallop hibachi - steak was dry no flavor, scallops bland no flavor, noodles were the grossest thing in the meal, rice was bland and the shrimp sauce had a funny flavor, all vegetables were soggy and not fresh, clear soup tasted like water. Hands down the worst Asian food I have ever eaten. Avoid at all costs! Seriously! Avoid this place! Oh and she told me 15 min on phone and who meal took 40min. Will never ever ever ever return here. Ever!

I've been coming here off and on for a very long time and I love it even more lately! the sushi is always fresh and delicious and the hibachi and appetizers are always great too...What can I say no complaints except for I wish they could upgrade the tables and the carpet lol the staff is friendly and attentive, make sure you stop by next time you're on Baymeadows!

Granted all this rain's got me feeling a little under the weather, but I was still pretty underwhelmed with Sushi House on Baymeadows. Teetering on the verge of a cold, I showed up in search of warm, brothy Miso Soup. I walked into Sushi House and was slightly turned off by the uninviting decor. All brown and drab with very little personality. Oh well, I came for food not decorating tips. I sat down and ordered a water and my Miso to start. It came out room temp at best which was definitely disappointing. The tofu was OK, but the broth was SO salty, even for Miso Soup, which I already expect to be loaded. There was also little bits of meat added that did not enhance the flavor at all in my opinion. I would give one star but they redeemed themselves with their Tuna Avocado Salad. Big fresh chunks of Ahi and Avocado came out piled on top of lettuce with a creamy, gingery dressing that was delicious. The lettuce was a little flavorless and cheapy tasting, but the tuna and avocado were fresh and juicy down to the last bite. All in all it worked for lunch but I won't be back unless I go with a group or someone really wants to eat here. Not much of a unque dining experience in atmosphere or cuisine. The service was friendly, but I sucked down my water in the first five minutes and was never offered a refill. Mediocre at best.

This is my favorite go-to sushi place in all of Jacksonville. Granted, that's partly because it's close to my house, but they also deliver, have a really wide variety on the menu, and are super reliable. I've eaten here for years and the things I order are always consistently great. I've never been disappointed. It's quaint and may not be super fancy, but if you're looking for a place with reasonably priced, reliably great sushi in the area, then Sushi House on Baymeadows is the way to go. Also, I would highly recommend this location over the one in the Town Center. I haven't been to that one since reading that the Health Department made them close for a roach infestation a few years ago (DISgusting!) But even before then, I felt the sushi at the TC location was a little lackluster in comparison to Baymeadows.

Tried this place on a whim while passing through on business... Really, not too shabby for strip mall sushi. It was more expensive than I thought it would be, but at the same time, it was better food than I expected too, so I guess it's a wash. Very bland inside. It might be a good 50th date spot, but lack of ambiance is noticeable.

This is my favorite sushi restaurant in Jacksonville. The sushi is very good, the portions are ample and the prices are reasonable. I've been here twice now, since it's close to my dentist I'll just make a trip over there for lunch. The sushi is pretty standard but it's not bad, you get what you pay for. However, it is good prices and they have lunch specials. It's not a busy place and the decor could be vamped, but if you're in that Baymeadows area and you need some sushi, it'll do what your sushi cravings need it to do. Just look out for the cranky American employees who will sit two tables away from you and complain to their fellow co-worker how much of a bad week they've had in loud and clear English.

Ok. They have good food. I agree with that. But there is better out there with better service. I usually order from them because they are the only sushi place that I know of that delivers. What I don't agree with is that everytime I order for delivery they screw it up. I generally hold my tounge because it's normally a very small mix up. Last time I ordered from them I specified exactly what I wanted. They sent the wrong food. I called them to get it straighted out. They said the would fix it the next time I came in. I live less than a mile from them. It wouldn't have been very difficult to fix my food and send it back out. Only after I told them this happens all the time did they actually offer to help me. If you're going to eat there, please eat in. The service is better inside.

I've been here several times now because its close to the hotel I'm staying. Decor isn't great, I typically sit at the bar. The pieces are big and the sushi is fresh. I usually come in late at night, so there aren't many in there. My experience has always been positive at this place.

Finally tried this place after a friend's recommendation, and have to give him props on this one. I'll put Sushi House in second place behind Koja Sushi II (which is literally right across the street) for now. This is more of a 3.5 star than a full 4 ... I hate splitting hairs with Yelp, but with sushi I can't help it sometimes. Much like Koja II, the place isn't much to look at, and there aren't very many tables. That's OK though. The selection is good, prices are reasonable and service was attentive and quick. Obviously the most important thing was the food. I really enjoyed the eel, sweet shrimp and octopus sushi ... again, a close second to Koja. But I loved their king dragon roll (eel, avocado, crunch). LDC liked the veggie and oshinko rolls. Presentation was nice as well, and you can't say that about every place. For us, Sushi House is better than Crazy Sushi, Ginza, Yo Sushi, Wasabi, and probably a few others we haven't gotten to yet. So if you're in the Baymeadows culinary hotspot, you've got another casual option that hits the mark with sushi. Highly recommended.

Initial experience was walking back to the restroom and seeing an unsanitary back-end to the kitchen/restaurant, not exactly what you hope for in a place with raw fish. The rolls didn't taste too fresh, but don't know if that was tainted by the smells from the back of the venue. Other reviews seem to rate pretty highly, so it may have potential, but from our experience we will never be back there. Check the back/restrooms out before you decide to order.

3 locations in Jacksonville. I have been a regular for 6+ years and while the decor inside is a little drab, the sushi is awesome! Several new items on the menu recently and they will make anything combination that you want. Ask for the crab salad to start -- crab, julienned cucumebers and a hot mayonnaise sauce -- I usually order 2. Spicy tuna or spicy salmon rolls are my favorite!

sushi house -- im pretty sure its a chinese chain located throughout jacksonville. i could be wrong, but they have typical 'chinese rolls' and everyone who works in there is chinese. ;) i work nearby at bank of america's corporate complex -- so its a nearby sushi place that pumps out their food rather quickly. easy for a 1 hour lunch break. the sushi chefs in there are super nice & when i go in there on my own -- they always keep conversation with me so i dont feel so lonely when my husband cant make it to lunch with me on my break. the service there is absolutely wonderful. i have my favorite sushi places & unfortunately -- this place isnt one of them. their sushi is decent. its not bad -- but its nothing to raaave about. i always get the tuna avocado salad without the spicy mayo dressing. i prefer a dressing of my own which i make out of sesame oil, wasabi, and soy sauce -- its MUCH better. for 7.00 -- they give you a nice serving of tuna & avocado. its my favorite. i normally accompany my salad with an order of gyoza. oddly enough -- sushi houses' gyoza is my favorite at any sushi place with the exception of tamas -- but i only like tamas gyoza because it tastes like my moms lumpia. their sweet tea is delicious & their miso soup is pretty solid. my bill is normally 13 bucks or so. its a nice quiet place to ENJOY my lunch without the annoyance of people on their laptops -- like at panera. ill spend the little extra money to get the nice solitude of sushi house for lunch. :)

No thanks! Went with a bunch of coworkers who were all craving some sushi and Sushi House looked like the closest sushi to our work. Now, I will be honest here and admit I was a little suspicious that a Jacksonville sushi restaurant would even have any vegetarian offerings to begin with. But low and behold, they did. Unfortunately, that is pretty much where my fun came to an end. I stayed simple with an order of edamame, an avocado roll, and a cucumber roll. Well, as easy as it is to succeed with a basic avocado roll (rice, seaweed, avocado- hello!?), Sushi House failed, failed, failed! This is the first sushi I have ever had that was rolled with mayonnaise. Yes, mayo!! And for some odd reason, only about half the pieces had mayonnaise, half didn't. I ate the mayo-less ones and left the rest up for grabs at my table. Not surprisingly though, after someone else bit into one and agreed about the mayo... they lost all their appeal together and the rest remained deserted on a lonely plate in the middle of our table. And the edamame? Forgotten. While the checks were being brought out I asked about what should have been my appetizer. Our waitress apologized and brought them out. With my check! I thought the least they could do was not include them on my bill... but I shouldn't have gotten ahead of myself. About 15 edamame pods for $4 there on my bill. What a deal. Pahleeze people! Since I'm on a little bit of a negative rampage I might as well also tell you about the other stuff that wasn't my favorite: - The music. Piped in elevator tunes. We're talking wordless cheesy saxophone infused Rod Stewart renditions. One after another. Seriously, during the entire meal, I felt like I was on hold trying to pay a bill. This is not the way to create an "atmosphere". - The paper menus. I'm all for recycling, but maybe plastic wipe-off menus may be more the ticket? At Sushi House they give you a pencil to write in how much of what you're ordering. Then (later that day I presume) they erase your decisions, so the menu can be given to the next available customer. Ours were very worn with prior customers erased choices. So strange! - The ambiance. Just like the music, the overall experience in Sushi House is lacking to say the least. Situated in the middle of a strip mall, there are few windows, and sad paper table cloths and uncomfortable chairs. No chopsticks were brought. Finally, although the place only had 2 other tables seated, our waitress chose to seat us at a table in the very center of the restaurant. Awkward! Needless to say, not a fan.

Have never had a bad meal here. Go about once a month. Service is great and lots of rolls to choose from.

sushi house -- im pretty sure its a chinese chain located throughout jacksonville. i could be wrong, but they have typical 'chinese rolls' and everyone who works in there is chinese. ;) i work nearby at bank of america's corporate complex -- so its a nearby sushi place that pumps out their food rather quickly. easy for a 1 hour lunch break. the sushi chefs in there are super nice & when i go in there on my own -- they always keep conversation with me so i dont feel so lonely when my husband cant make it to lunch with me on my break. the service there is absolutely wonderful. i have my favorite sushi places & unfortunately -- this place isnt one of them. their sushi is decent. its not bad -- but its nothing to raaave about. i always get the tuna avocado salad without the spicy mayo dressing. i prefer a dressing of my own which i make out of sesame oil, wasabi, and soy sauce -- its MUCH better. for 7.00 -- they give you a nice serving of tuna & avocado. its my favorite. i normally accompany my salad with an order of gyoza. oddly enough -- sushi houses' gyoza is my favorite at any sushi place with the exception of tamas -- but i only like tamas gyoza because it tastes like my moms lumpia. their sweet tea is delicious & their miso soup is pretty solid. my bill is normally 13 bucks or so. its a nice quiet place to ENJOY my lunch without the annoyance of people on their laptops -- like at panera. ill spend the little extra money to get the nice solitude of sushi house for lunch. :)
