Went for hibachi with wife and kids for lunch. It was awesome. Lunch is half the cost of dinner. The only difference I see is that chef didn't put on big show. Food was fresh and tasted great. Even the soup and salad was good. If you love Hibachi this should be your go to place.

Not impressed AT ALL.. Took forever for drinks. Sushi appetizers came after entrees were almost done. The hibachi grill chef had ZERO enthusiasm. The ginger and shrimp sauce served at the hibachi was watery. Will not be back!

Although we only had organic sake and sushi, everything taste really good and the service was spot on. It's a beautiful restaurant with a lot of room and tables but at 8 o'clock, there was just a handful of people on a Friday night, which I think has to do with the location. You actually have to think about this place being here because its not on a main strip of road or easily invisible from Phillips Highway which is why I think it was dead.

I had a party of 26 this past weekend to show up for some good Japanese dinner! We were doing a dual birthday party for 2 guys and let me tell you..they did above and beyond my expectations in serving us!!! I told her we had to be at a comedy show by 10 and our reservations were at 8pm. Which meant they had 1 hour and 45 minutes to take our order, serve us, and check us out. Of course I didn't think it would happen but it did! The manager got us the private room which fit us perfectly with plenty of extra room! The food came out quick and fresh! We ordered the steak and shrimp hibachi was perfect and also the squid salad, dynamite and Jaguar roll... Yummy! If you are looking for a place to plan dinner for a group party ( BTW there was no upcharge or fee for this private room) then Mikado is perfect for you! Good food and Good times!

Meh. I had to run over to Walmart on my lunch break so it seemed like a good time to give this place a try. My mom also works nearby and her office occasionally orders lunch to go from Mikado so I thought it was a safe bet. I went with the lunch buffet since I was alone. When I walked in, the place looked empty with nobody up front. A woman came out and took me to a table. I did like that ye clear soup came with the buffet (I'm a big soup fan). As others have mentioned, the buffet is on the smaller side. A a section of sushi, a section of fried foods (tempura, egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken, etc), and a random section (other chicken dishes, rice, noodles, etc). The sushi was okay but sort of lukewarm when I bit into it. It made me a little nervous (if there is any other news on that front, I'll be sure to update lol). The other food was okay but nothing particularly good. For the price it was ok but if you aren't into fried food (I'm not) or lukewarm sushi (seriously, it freaked me out), skip it.

This place sucked!!! We booked a party of twenty more than a week in advanced. They gave us the worst tables in the building and split up our party. After the split we were still charged gratuity as if we sat together. On top of that the service sucked!! Usually at a habaci grill the cook will talk and play around. Our cook said nothing! Also, we ordered and paid for drinks at the bar the waitress who didn't bring one drink out decided to double charge for the drinks she saw on the table. Smh!! I would recommend Wasabi over this place any day. Not only is the food better tasting but the prices are more reasonable and the atmosphere is more enjoyable!

Great food, atmosphere, and service. My family and I went here and it reminds us of a restaurant in Maryland called Sakura. In our opinion everything was great. Nice portions with tasty food. I'd recommend this to friends and family. We Went in on a early Friday evening and it was not packed like Wusabis. It's nice cozy and family friendly. We think anyone who loves hibachi will like Mikado. Bless up world!

My wife and her friends just left this restaurant for a birthday celebration. The manager was rude and obnoxious had a bad attitude. The reservation was made and the party did not record the name of the person making the reservarion. The manager attitude was that my wife's party was an inconvenience to him The food was mediocre at best. All this manager wanted to do is rush them out of there by wiping the table before they were finished eating. There are way too many restaurants in Jacksonville including a long list of good restaurants at the town center for anyone to put up with this type of service. We will never go to this restaurant again and we would encourage everyone to read this to look for somewhere better to eat. And if you are visiting this area please look for a better restaurant than this you will be disappointed

Mikado has been around for a while, but their restaurant is newly built. Very upscale place with nice atmosphere. My son and I love this place. They have outstanding teppanyaki chefs and servers. Food and service have been consistently great. Plus, Mikado has all you can eat lunch buffet ($8.95) on weekdays. I highly recommend this place.

This place is terrible! Lettuce with chicken starter lacked taste and had no flavor. Sushi was equally terrible with no taste. I will not go back to this place.

Horrible. Lunch buffet had very little selection. What they did offer was over cooked and dry. The sushi was warm like another reviewer mentioned. The only thing good was a curry dish with veggies and my soda. Should of heeded the Yelpers.

Standard habachi grille, Just like the other 2 dozen here in Jacksonville.

Didn't try the hibachi food or their buffet but I love the sushi. The bartender is also really good at making drinks.

Oooh ...finally the newly relocated Mikado has brought back their infamous buffet!! The new place, (located by the new Super Walmart across from the Avenues Mall), is beautiful! We used to frequent the old Mikado's lunch buffet at the Phillips Hwy location and I am so happy the new location opted to bring this nostalgic lunch hour delight back! This was the first place where my work associate peer pressured me into my first bite of sushi...I was hooked ever since. Hours for lunch buffet: 11:30 - 2:00pm, except Saturdays Price: $8.95 - WOW! Items: Various sushi options (YUM!), all kinds of tempuras, grilled vegetables and some delish dumplings and fried rice. The Lo Mein tasted a little off to me so it wasn't my favorite item off the buffet. Everything else was warm and wonderful. Thank you Mikado for bringing back the restaurant in the new location, but also for bringing back this inexpensive, but delicious buffet!

When my friends decided to have a "Girls Night Out", we decided to give this restaurant a try since none of us have tried the new Mikado that opened. We used to go to the old Mikado for their lunch buffet or dinner habachi grill. The new restaurant looks really nice. Upon walking in, we were greeted quickly and seated (we made a reservation on a Saturday night, 7 PM). The food was your standard habachi grill fare. An order of scallops & steak came with your standard clear onion soup, salad with choice of dressing, fried rice, grilled shrimp appey, grilled veggies, and scallops and steak, of course. Everything tasted decent to me. Nothing stood out as neither good or bad. The entertainment is also fairly standard with a lot of noise, flame, and cheering. I also wanted to try their sushi and sashimi. So I tried yellowtail sashimi and a roll with spicy tuna and yellowtail. The amount of fish is pretty generous and tasted good. The rice was a bit under-cooked for me unfortunately, but otherwise, tasted ok. It's overall a fairly good dining experience. The price was reasonable and the food decent. I would go there again if someone in my dining party wants habachi grill. Otherwise, I personally prefer quieter sushi restaurants with better sushi rice....

It was very delicious! Their customer service was great. Although, there is a bit of a wait. So I recommend to not go when your too hungry to wait.

I love the decor and the atmosphere! We sat next to the window with a view of the pond and had the $12.95 all you can eat sushi buffet for lunch. We sat on the sushi side not at the grill tables...The food was good and we will be back again I'm sure...There were about 6 rolls to choose from and hot food including tempura and stir fry. The soup was even good the only thing that was not good was some chicken teriyaki but maybe it was sitting out too long- LOL...and I will say the service was excellent too! Go check it out...

I wish that there were some self-regulation among ethnic restaurants. Places like Mikado should have to add a hyphen followed by the word "style" after the word Japanese. The only thing Japanese about this place is that sushi and udon noodles are on the menu, and they use a sauce with a Japanese name, but I dare you to go to Japan and ask them for some teriyaki sauce, LOL! The food is decent, and their cooks put on a pretty fun show, but I think Japan ruined me for "Japanese" food in the USA. The sushi was just ok, nothing to scream about. Basically, if you want to have a fun night out sitting around a big teppan, you can do that here, but if you are looking for the authentic Japanese, I don't know where to tell you to go, because it really doesn't exist in Jacksonville.

Probably would give this 4.5 stars but I'm in a good mood and rounded up, you're welcome Mikado owners. While I certainly enjoy a good hibachi meal (and the subsequent food coma shortly after), its the wifey's favorite meal on earth, so we've been to many a hibachi restaurant. This place is really one of the best we've been to. The food is always great, and the service is top notch. We've always been seated right away and never had to wait long at all for the grub. Will definitely be back many times I'm sure!

So for valentines day i needed to find a place that was open late enough and was worth going to. I will say that i did enjoy my visit. Me and my boyfriend sat at the hibachi teppan tables or however you call them. The food as usual was prepared fresh and the chef was pretty entertaining, However the food was not SUPER great. It was just good. Better than the standard fare that you can get at any little Japanese/sushi place. The chicken hibachi was good and the friend rice was good too. The clear soup was a little bland. Ive also been here twice for their lunch buffet. The price is good but not cheaper than lets say osaka buffet. The buffet here is very limited but it carries your standard chinese fare. They dont really have hibachi on the buffet. They do have some sushi but they also have things like chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken and teriyaki chicken. But then again i guess it could be considered Japanese too because everyone now a days just puts the two together. I will say that i did like the old restaurant better. One thing i will say is that my boyfriend loved the unagi don which is prepared eel over white rice.

If you are looking for authentic Japanese food i would not recommend this place. The bento boxes here are horrible and the teriyaki chicken tasted really dry and almost tasted like frozen chicken that was just microwaved. I would never go back here again!

DISSAPPOINTED! I would not refer a friend to this restaurant. The sauces are watered down. The fried rice is bland (only egg & soy sauce is added). I ordered a vegetable hibachi meal & only received the rice & the vegetables that everyone else received. I've been to MANY hibachi grills around the country & have always received a different variety of steamed vegetables beyond the standard veggies given to everyone at the table. Your money will be better spent somewhere else.
