I just had lunch there for the first time because i had heard so much about this place and i was not left disappointed! Although it was relatively busy when i arrived, i still had no issues getting a seat at the bar where you can actually watch a well trained staff work cohesively on the orders which was pleasure in it of itself. After seating, my server who was very pleasant assisted me in no time at all and gave me a fair amount of time to decide on my order (a Breakfast burger, which was absolutely delicious). And after placing my order it didn't even take that long to receive my food! My only criticisms come with the side pasta salad i had (a little too dry for my liking) and the key lime pie i ordered for dessert (which was closer to a lime meringue pie than key lime but i digress). Overall it was a wonderful experience and I'll definitely recommend it to my friends!

I've had breakfast at their Jax Beach location and really enjoyed it and would recommend. This was my first time at this location and trying a non-breakfast meal. I ordered the mahi with avocado salsa and black beans and rice special. This is a large, thick piece of fish with a tasty avocado mango salsa that paired just right with the fish. The black beans and rice were good but the black beans could've used a little more kick so a little hot sauce could perk them up. This is an excellent lunch with large portions and I'll get this again. Service was very friendly as well and you can't go wrong eating on the front patio on a 75 degree December day. I'll be back here next time I'm in town.

I have been going to Metro Diner since I was a kid, so when I saw that they had recently opened a location that I could possibly hit up on my way to work some day I was pretty happy about it. Today was that day.... it was nice a quiet when I arrived (which I was not expecting at all) so I grabbed a both in the corner and perused the menu trying to decide what to order. I settled on the Biscuits & gravy which comes with 2 eggs (prepared how you like - I went with scrambled this time) and hashbrowns. It didn't take long for me to get my breakfast and man o man the portion of biscuits and gravy was HUGE! I only ended up eating half of it. Everything was delicious although my biscuits were a tad bit hard which is why I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 4. Next time I'll branch out and get the Chicken and Waffles which I've never had at Metro. All in all, this is a great addition to the area and to the Metro Diner family.

Wow!!! Saw this place a couple of times while driving by. Stopped one time to try it out, but it was an hour wait. Decided to go there right when it opened at 6:30 am on a Sunday. Was NOT disappointed!!! Right when we walked through the door the staff was friendly. Coffee was delicious!!! Ordered the "Southern 3 Egg Omelette"...this thing was huge!!! Overall, the food was delicious, the staff was kind and courteous and the place gave off a warm and welcoming vibe.

Absolutely loved the breakfast pizza. Biscuit dough for a crust. Hollandaise for sauce. Eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, pepper, onion for topics. Ridiculous. I was stuffed after half but kept picking at the crust. Friendly wait staff. Sat at the counter since I was alone but never felt alone watching the cooks prepare all the food.

My family loves this place, and talked about it all the way from Georgia to Florida!!! That strawberry butter was delicious... It should be sold in stores!!! The waffles were cooked perfectly, with the right amount of fluff!!! The chicken was good, but could have been better with some seasoning. I like the hot sauce and syrup concoction that the waitress made. The waitress was pleasant and had a great deal of patience when it came to my family!!! Get place for breakfast or lunch!!!

My wife and I have been to this Metro Diner location four times since they've opened. I am happy to say that this location is equally impressive as the one we frequent on San Jose Blvd. We are both very happy that we now have a Metro Diner in our neighborhoods. Being pretty new, the first couple of times we went, we did see some minor kinks to work out. The most recent trip, we went during lunch time to try their lunch menu. Over the years, it's surprising that this is the first time we went to Metro Diner for lunch. I ordered the chicken pot pie while my wife ordered one of their specials, fish and chips. The pot pie was not your traditional pot pie. The 'crust' is more like a giant biscuit and the portion was huge (I ordered the large...but even for large, it was huge). It was very tasty and we ended up taking 2/3 of it home. My wife doesn't usually like fish and chips. But she saw the dish being served while we were waiting to be seated, and it looked so good that she decided to order it. The fish was lightly battered, was flakey and perfected cooked. I had a bite or two (or half portion...) and really enjoyed it. Between the two of us, we could only finish 1/3 of the pot pie and 2/3 of the fish and chips. So we ended up having those leftovers for dinner. Two meals for the price of one. Generally, when we think about Metro Diner, we think breakfast. But there are so many interesting dishes on their lunch menu as well that I'd imagine we'll be going back over and over again, especially this location being so close to our home.

Since being featured on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives.... The Metro Diner has blossomed to multiple locations throughout Jacksonville and already one location in Saint Augustine!

I am very happy that there is now a Metro Diner very close to us. For years we always go to the San Jose Blvd location when we crave Metro Diner. So this morning, we went for breakfast. Would have been sooner if our recent travel and work schedules weren't so hectic. We got there around 8:45 AM and were seated immediately (but a line formed soon after we were seated). The service was warm and friendly, but you can notice some of the staff members are really new. There were some slowness, some awkwardness, but really, that's part of having a new restaurant/location, no biggie. I ordered the Bissell Breakfast which came with bacon, eggs, grits, and short stack of pancakes. Hubby ordered Creamed Chipped Beef. Everything tasted great, just like the other location. The food came out really fast even though they pretty much had a full house of customers (just like the other location). So overall we are very happy and will be back soon.

Best breakfast I've had so far in Florida!!! You HAVE to eat here!! You'll love it!!

If you plan to go here, make a reservation because this place is packed. The food is fabulous and affordable, but only if you consider affordability based on price and not calories. The service here is pretty good and quick. The servers are friendly and the cooks are amusing to watch. The only problem here was the wait and the crowd, but the team handled the overload as well as they possibly could have.

Metro Diner, usually great, occasionally not. This new one on Baymeadows is my fav for breakfast. Like today I had the standard Eggs Benedict, the yolks were runny, plenty of Hollandaise sauce, and a fresh English muffin. The hash browns hot and perfect, not dry. Once every 4 or 5 times I go however the yolk is hard, the muffins are dry, and it seems they ration the sauce. This occasional failing is the only reason they don't get 5 stars from me!

  • Bharat A.

Looking by the crowd I want to try here once. Not the greatest for brunch.. It was ok.. Next time I would prefer ihop, more hospitality.. Ambience.. Spacious..

Always good. Never dissappointed. Had the Canadian omelet. Very good. Wife had some kind if humongous vegi sandwich. Said it was very good.

Food was amazing! I ordered the grits and shrimp, too much sauce, but other than that, it was very delicious! My husband ordered the Pittsburgh eggs Benedict, so yummy! I would totally recommend to everyone

I was familiar with the Metro Diner's reputation for doing great breakfasts and finally got the chance to try this location for lunch recently. I would suggest come hungry and throw out any concerns about fat and calorie content before you even sit down. I had the meatloaf, which was served on a platter large enough for two. Fresh squash and zucchini and a huge mound of mashed potatoes and gravy served along side of two huge slabs of meatloaf that is way better than my mom's (Shhh!). The sweet tea is perfectly southern sweet tea at its finest. My co-worker had the chicken pot pie which was also large enough to feed a family. For under $10.00 for lunch dishes, we also felt this place was a bargain.

Great place for a family. Have to wait to get in all the time. Food is great but not when your in a rush. I only gave it a 4 star because of wait times outside of that its one of the best places for food.

An early day allowed me to hit up this place for lunch. It used to be that you'd wait for a LONG LONG time before being seated (at the original Metro Diner). With five (?) locations throughout Jacksonville, the wait isn't as long, but Metro Diner has not lost any of its awesomeness, so there is NO REASON that you should not give this place a try. I tried the Country Benedict, a Metro Diner staple. Food quality was excellent, delicious taste and when it came to my table, my meal was still steaming hot! Eggs cooked perfectly, hash browns were crisp, and seasoning was flavorful. The staff is very friendly, and the service is very efficient. My meal was out in about 10-15 minutes. One good thing that I also enjoyed was that they allowed me to sample the Charleston Grits (which is probably now on my list for next time, haha! Thanks, Marisa!!!) to make sure I liked it before deciding what meal I wanted. All in all, this spot is a welcome addition to the Baymeadows area and I look forward to coming back soon!

We are on a road trip to our Nations Capitol from Fort Lauderdale and decided to spend the night in Jacksonville. This morning we Yelped and this place came up. The 4 1/2 stars this place received was accurate. The food was great, the service was very friendly and I was never without water "Larry", clean bathrooms, and great coffee! If you are in the area, I would give Metro a shot you won't be disappointed.

I absolutely love Metro Diner. They have great food selections and unique choices for breakfast. They are only open for breakfast and lunch and serve breakfast all day, which is when I have always gotten. On a recent trip to Metro Diner I was informed that I could order a half order of any of the main courses which is half price plus $1 up charge I think it was. That works out well for me because most of the time I am torn between two different choices on the menu, or I want to at least have one biscuit and sausage gravy. The Yo Halla on the Square is one of my favorite dishes there and I highly recommend you trying it. It is this delightful mixture of deliciousness in the mouth. Two thick pieces of thick challah bread are stuffed with a mixture of bananas and cream cheese and brown sugar and hazelnut syrup and fried up and then served with a blueberry and strawberry compote. It is to die for. It is so stinking good I have tried to make it at home and have yet to get it just right. Their sausage and gravy over biscuits is amazing too. It is a complete wonderful mixture of everything good. If you haven't gotten to a Metro Diner you need to get to one. You won't be disappointed. If you get there during peak time though be prepared to wait. I promise it is worth the wait time.

  • Cindy A.

So so so yummy! I was initially worried that the new location would not live up to the rest, but it totally does. Everything I have tried is so good. The only trouble is that there are so many really good choices that it is hard to pick what to eat. If in doubt, the pound cake french toast is excellent.

I follow the Guy Fieri trail when I'm in a new town on my travels. He called this diner a winner and I strongly agree. Yes, it's a chain in Jacksonville and not the same metro where the show was shot. However the food measures up to its true colors. Looking at food being delivered to other customers while waiting in anticipation for mine, everything looked so good. Large servings with comfort appeal. Very nice and well mannered service showing company pride and professionalism. When our food arrived it was hot and well organized on the plate, for a busy diner, it really didn't take a long time from order to table. Having their signature meatloaf was a real joy! Not a dense loaf, having a light and flavorful bite combined with a seared texture to be accompanied with a well balanced red potato mash and gravy with roasted vegetables finishing with their Key lime pie. Well done! I'd give a 4.5 star if I could.

  • Vinay G.

Great taste / great portions! Ordered the chicken buffalo sandwich- was on a dry side. The moms omelette needed some spice. Hasbrown was a little burnt. Over all a good meal.

  • Tina G.

LOVE this place! The corned beef hash is my favorite for breakfast. I haven't tried their lunch yet but can't imagine it would be anything less than awesome!

LATEX ALLERGY!!!! Each and every single cook in the kitchen wears latex gloves. They constantly remove them and they are also powdered.

    (3)
  • Phuong N.

I don't understand why they don't build a 2 story Metro Diner, that would be awesome! There is always a long waiting line at every Metro Diner I've been to, this one included. Why is that? Oh I don't know, maybe because their foods are delicious? You can never go wrong with the chicken and waffles. My friend ordered the metro club sandwich and that hit the spot too! Big portions, great prices!! This is my favorite breakfast joint, wish I didn't have to wait everytime though.

    (5)
  • Michael C.

Where the locals eat, says it all. HUge portions, great food, and great service. Worth the wait every time.

It's good but just too far away from the house and any decent sunrise photo locations.

  • Shawn E.

OMG!!!! I can't say enough about this joint! When i walked up and saw the huge crowd of people outside, i almost turned around and left. I am SO glad i didn't!!! I was told the wait was only gonna be 20 mins, then when she heard i was alone, she suggested the counter and i sat down right away. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, which came with 2 eggs and hash browns. A lot of the fun was watching the huge kitchen crew all working in unison and knocking it out! There was so much communication between them, and between the expo person and the guy plating, that even Gordon Ramsey would be proud. Portions are crazy!! Im a big guy, and i walked out with leftovers. The food was quite tasty. Next time i will get the Monte Christo, which looked awesome and about the size of 2 sandwiches! The staff is absolutely the friendliest i have experienced in a while. They even offered to remake the omelette the broke when they folded it for the guy next to me. I would recommend Metro Diner to anyone for breakfast/lunch!!! Great job, folks!!!

A wise man once said that there has never been a sadness that can't be cured by breakfast food. So, if you're feeling sad The Metro Dinner is the place to be. Of course it is a great place to be if you're happy too.

I had no idea they just opened a month ago. Great new location and great service. Everybody was smiling! My server was fantastic. The manager even stopped by at our table to make sure we're enjoying the food. I had the Crab Cake Benedict and it was absolutely delicious! Love this place. I definitely recommend Metro Diner to everyone :)

We had breakfast and got the best seats in the house. Bar top, watched everything going on in kitchen. Ran like a well oiled machine. Food was looking great and tasted even better. Everytime we come through Jacksonville we will be stopping by. Thank you

  • Kyle A.

Chase, the blonde to-go server, was the best. Very personable and professional. Probably the only reason I go back to this place. P.S. The Asian guy "Romeo" was really sketchy. Probably not helping y'all's customer returns. P.P.S The hostess, Raven, is really attractive.

Very good food. Great atmosphere. Service is on point and the Sun AM brunch is well worth the wait

Had the biscuits and gravy, took at least half of it home because the portions were massive. Best gravy I've had in Jacksonville!!!

This is such a disappointment. We frequently would go to the beach location and everything there was so great. When this one opened down the street we thought we had won the lottery. We have eaten at this one 4 times now and every time it is something or another. The first time the service was not great at all the 2nd time the service was great but the food was messed up. We had let our server know that we had an allergy to a certain food and we were told they would not have any of that type of food I our dishes. Low and be hold the food we had mentioned was in our dish. And we had an allergic reaction. The 3rd time we went the service was so messed up the it felt like we were not welcome. Our server must have had a bad day and was reflecting that attitude onto us. The food came out way under cooked. The eggs were ordered as over easy and they came out with the whites running off the plate. Our server was not nice when we notified here that we could not eat the eggs and asked if she could take them back. The last time we went in was on a Sunday around 9 AM. The greater was very nice considering the place was close to packed and the wait time was over 30 min to be seated. We decided that we would order some food to hold us over and have some drinks because of the wait and because there was no where to sit or stand ND it was very cold outside. So we went to the counter top and asked if we could get so juice and water and some french toast. The server said no we could not order or eat anything up there and that we would need to leave the one stool I was sitting on. I polity told him that he would need to get me a chair then since I am very pregnant and I can not stand to wait for a table for 30 mins. Once we finally got a table that we only mentioned for 2 and we were 3 people , it took forever for our server to come and place any type of order . This time we ordered so many different things, eggs, pancakes, everything you can eat for breakfast we ordered. Unfortunately the eggs were very under cooked again and the fruit was contaminated with pepers. We were told that the kitchen staff had some problems and they were falling apart. It is a shame this place is not as good as their other locations. I hope they just need some time and practice. But for us, we would take a 20 min drive and wait an hour to go to a different location. We chose who we give our hard earned money to and who we want to get the 20% tips and this place is just not worth our time or money. I so hope they get their stuff together. But it looks like it will take alot. They need to work on service, food and prep. I hope no one that has a food allergy gets sick there.

We had The Bissell & Corned Beef Hash. Generous servings, good prices and great service. The pancakes were pretty good, bacon was just right, eggs were perfect. The corned beef hash is like home made! No canned hash! Major plus! Did Iention flavored coffee?

This place was everything you want in a restaurant. Great Service. Great food. Great management. We had a party of 12 to celebrate with our UNF graduate and it was pretty awesome. Free meal for the graduate, some laughs and handshakes with the manager, and a really cool waitress made our visit first class. I had Carolina shrimp and grits. Very good. I got a tast of the fish and chips which were great as well. Looking around at the table, the portions were more than abundant, and the price point for each plate was outstanding. I would definitely stop back in the next time I am in Jacksonville,

Sometimes you unexpectedly come across eateries that just surprise you and, more importantly, delight you. Well, Metro Diner is one such such eatery. This place is off of I-95 so was convenient on our road trip. We decided to check it out based on Yelp reviews. We were glad we did because our dishes were done perfectly, service was prompt and courteous, and the ambiance is just what you expect from a good diner. Our dishes, spicy fried chicken benedict with hash browns and omelette, hit all the right notes. Spicy fried chicken benedit had the perfect combination of saltiness and decadence. Hash brown was perfectly crisp and plentiful for hearty breakfast. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. Even though it was a full diner, the service was such that we felt we were the only customers. We look forward to visiting this place again, hopefully soon.

Service was great..food was even better!! Try going during the week..weekends are packed but they turn tables pretty quickly! This is my go to breakfast/brunch place!

First time eating here and I love the place. I had the meatloaf and what a good size portion they give you. I would definitely be going to get the chicken and waffles!

  • Michelle B.

If you haven't tried Metro....you are missing out on amazing food. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles and my dining partner had waffles with strawberries. The portions are HUGE! It was half a chicken! I pride myself on making a mean friend chicken, this is the best hands down. My hats off! The strawberry butter, can't say enough. I could have had a scoop of that in a cone! I will be visiting regularly.

    (5)
  • Jess C.

Service was great and the staff was friendly, however, my 12" pancake was too dense to eat, and my husband's biscuits and gravy were barely warm. Our hashbrowns were delicious though with the added toppings like cheese, tomatoes, jalapeños, ham etc. A disappointing visit for the price, but we would try again.

Reviewed one location pretty much review all - food is consistent and quick, friendly, genuine, service seems to be their focus front time you come thru door.

A good go to diner for breakfast. The service was good and the food came out quickly. The chicken n waffles were delish and their pancakes and eggs were also good. Just know that this is not a fancy diner by no means. But they get the job done when your hungry and looking for good food.

    (5)
  • Gregg K.

Never tried it before. But heard such great things I had to stop by for breakfast. I had the breakfast burrito. It was delish. Huge portion with egg, green pepper mushroom and cheese. With salsa on it. Had a side of home fries which were awesome. Not mushy but cooked just the way I like it. I am so happy there is a metro diner so close to my house. I will be there at least once a week. Service was also awesome!!!

I arrived just past their 2:30pm closing today and the entire staff including the cooks were extremely accommodating! There was some fresh chicken so one of the cooks suggested I try the chicken & waffles...GREAT suggestion! I wanted white meat (I'm a wing girl at heart), but they only had a few breasts, a leg, and a few thighs so they gave me one of each plus some fresh home fries that were just coming up!!! The waffle was cooked to perfection and the chicken was superb. The home fries hot and delicious...I was both treated and feed very well. My order amounted to $12.82 and I left my waitress the $20 I had in my purse after packing up what I couldn't finish to go (it'll be dinner or lunch tomorrow ;-)! GREAT FOOD and even GREATER STAFF check them out if haven't already...!!!

19 days later I came back and still service leaves much to be desired. Our server was overwhelmed due to the brunch rush so I couldn't even find her to ask to have my soup before my entire meal came out. Felt like that was a reasonable request since I'm sure there's a pot of their soup of the day somewhere that just needs to be ladled into a bowl. No luck there. She brings out the food without the toast and says it doesn't come with toast. It does. We had to order a separate order order of toast before she checked. Then when she drops off the toast she asked us if the meal should've come with two eggs rather than one...you are asking us?!?? Followed up with a egg where the whites were too runny to eat. The side of sausage ordered also came out cold and unappealing to the eye. One more try before I drive farther to go back to the original Diner.

Took the family there for the first time after church. WOW! Everything we ordered was perfect and hot. Our waitress was so nice and accommodating to my father's every request. Getting him out is a treat in itself, she made it special. Come hungry and come often! Welcome to the neighborhood! We'll be back for sure.

We always go to the Riverside location but once we heard there was one close to us, we had to go. However, it was quite disappointing. The 5-10 minute wait turned into a 30 minute wait. Metro diner is the first and only place I've had chicken and waffles so I was so excited to have it again. The chicken was way too salty and dry and overcooked. Very disappointed

  • Emily C.

Excellent, period. Genuinely friendly, helpful service. Food arrived fast but we were there at 6:30 in the morning so it was fairly empty. I had the corned beef hash, my husband had the fried chicken Benedict and our daughter had the kids waffle. All 3 were excellent. The manager stopped by to check on the service and I can say it was outstanding. No clue they had only been open 5 days! Everyone was on their game.

    (5)
  • Beth F.

Not sure what all the hype is about. After waiting for over an hour to get in, waited another 30 minutes to order. Got the signature Chicken Pot Pie, it was more gooey biscuit then pot pie filling. KFC has a better pot pie. Will say that the fried chicken and waffles that someone sitting at the next table looked great!

  • Deprina G.

I love metro Diner! I always get the yo Hala on the Square OMG!!! Then I get eggs, bacon and hash browns on the side. I love everything about this place we had an issue one time and it wasn't even a big deal and the manager felt the need to come over and give us a 10$ gift card. It was appreciated but I really love metro diner so much sometimes i can look over the small stuff. I wish they would open a metro diner her in Tampa now that I have moved.

Shrimp and grits! Maybe I should say shrimp and grits cake in an awesome creamy sauce with sausage pieces and onions and peppers and a little spiciness! Huge amount of food, great tasting huge amount of food! Our waitress was as great as the food, Shonda ( I hope I spelt it correctly) was sunny, friendly, patient and 100% accurate with the orders for our group of 6! Definitely a place to frequent when in Jacksonville!

The was one of the best breakfasts I've had in awhile! The food was fantastic, service was excellent and you definitely get your money's worth. Had the biscuits and gravy which came with eggs and hash browns. It's 2 big plates!! This is my Diner of choice now!

Steak and eggs lived up to the test. My mom had the chicken and waffles and they were great. Just be prepared to wait but this place is worth the wait. See you again soon Metro Diner.

  • Scott R.

3.5 stars This was my first time here. It was very busy for breakfast on Father's Day. Waited about 45 minutes for a party of 2. Solid friendly service. Food was good. Personally I wouldn't wait more then 10 minutes for this place again. Wasn't anything that really wowed me hear. Very average. I'm not mad at it though. And it's a decent breakfast joint. Just not worth almost 1 hour wait in my opinion. Would come again if there was no wait. Bathrooms were tiny for the amount of people that come through there. I did like that the kitchen was open in the front. Very rare you see a breakfast place showing the cooks out in the open. Biscuits were a little hard for my liking.

Found this place on yelp while traveling from new York to Orlando. Well worth the stop!!!! First, let me rave about our waiter, Scott...best service ever! Not only was he personable, he was just on top of everything. It was so refreshing to finally have a waiter who takes pride and enjoyment in his work. Other waiters out there who do the bare minimum and make their customers feel like a burden should watch this guy in action! Now, about the food....nom nom nom!!! I had the Monte cristo with homemade chips. They make it the real way and with raspberry NOT strawberry. The chips were awesomely crispy. My boyfriend had the Vortex which attracted ALOT of attention. It was a medium rare 1/2 pound Angus beef burger topped with a fried egg over easy between two grilled cheese sandwiches each complete with tomatoes and bacon. They high fived him as he polished it off with a side of very fresh and tasty tabouli and then "borrowed" a piece of my Monte cristo. I am also a huge chicken pot pie fan, especially when it's homemade, so I ordered a jumbo to go for only $8.99. It smells amazing as we finish our last leg home. Everything about this place is amazing! We will definitely return. Thank you to Scott for really treating us and kudos to whoever hired him! See you again soon!

Like most fans of Metro Diner I too was super excited when this location opened up. It is close to work so immediately Metro got added to the lunch rotation. For those unfamiliar with the local phenomenon that Metro D has become; think oversized portions of Southern comfort food in a retro, laid-back atmosphere. They added to the already large following of locals when they were featured on the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" in 2010. The food here is good and the signature items like the chicken and waffles and Yo Halla are a must try. The menu is huge considering its breakfast/lunch. From burritos to hash browns to burgers they have it and churn it out with high quality. I won't review everything but most noteworthy items I have had are: Chicken and waffles, vortex burger and the Yo Halla. The chicken and waffles at first seem like an unlikely pair but it does work and that strawberry butter is a hit. I do think the chicken here is not as great as I've had at other locations but that might be an isolated case. The first time I had it I swore it was the best fried chicken in Jacksonville. That same quality has yet to be replicated at the Baymeadows location-for me at least. The yo Halla is stuffed French toast with fresh berries as a saucy garnish. You would think it would be sugar overload but they have kept the sweetness down to where this is pleasurable to eat without getting feeling like you have spiked your blood sugar level. The toast is really nice and fluffy and this signature dish is a must try. The vortex burger is a monster of a sandwich. It is similar to Mshack's insanity burger. Instead of two burger buns they use two bacon grilled cheese sandwiches so be prepared to chow down. This one is not for the calorie counters. It can get pretty busy during lunchtime so if you have a large party 6+ call ahead to avoid a long wait. Service is pretty smooth here as the have a lot of servers. Overall Metro diner is still one of the best places to get a down south hardy but fancy breakfast in the Jacksonville area.

This is the newest Metro location, which is conveniently located a short 5 min walk from my apartment! When I saw the sign that they were open I had to indulge. On a nice early afternoon we decided to walk there instead of drive, just for fun.... and I knew I would be eating a lot so walking would be a good idea ;) We got there around 1 and I was in the mood for breakfast. We were seated immediately and browsed the menus. I ended up getting the bissel breakfast, your basic breakfast items: 2 eggs, sausage, pancakes, hash browns and toast or english muffin. Hubby got the vortex burger which is so massive it's comical. It's a cheeseburger with grilled cheese sandwiches as the buns! I was really tempted to try one of their specials of the day, which was crab cake salad... but I really wanted some pancakes. I will be back when comfort food is calling. The food is just as delicious as the orignial location, just much closer!

Went here for the first time on a Saturday morning...it was packed!!!! Of course now we know why, great service, good vibe and good food! This is not typical breakfast food, the choices of eggs Benedict alone blew me away! Now, much to my wives chagrin, each time we eat out for breakfast I always ask, "is your corn beef hash REAL or canned" normally the answer is canned...GROSS, WHY EVEN BOTHER? Here the corn beef is made fresh and taste great! The potatoes were cooked perfectly and the meat was well seasoned and cooked just right! The server was great (I apologize for not getting her name) as we're all the employees...seater, food runner and bussers. We can't wait to go back and try lunch.

Another great spot in Jacksonville to fulfill my hunger pains. The food was very good but we did have a long wait. This place was packed but everyone was willing to wait 45min to a hour. I heard this was the new location so I'm not sure how the other metro diner is.

I had been talking about going back to Metro Diner to have the famed chicken and waffles..I attend FSCJ at the Deerwood campus and decided to go right after school..it was about 1100 when i arrived, and it was packed!! but we got a table right away so we order chicken and waffles to share and biscuits and gravy..our food came out super quick and piping hot! there was just one issue..one large piece of chicken was raw inside..so we flag down Natalie, our super friendly, very attentive server, and she takes the chicken away and tells us shes sending a manager over...the manager did come over with a new piece and both him and Natalie apologized profusely..the rest of the meal was delightful, the strawberry butter is a perfect topper to the fluffy waffle, the maple syrup with hot sauce that Natalie mixed together for us was really different and awesome..the biscuit and gravy was amazing as well..this was my second time eating Metro Diner, but my first time physically there..its really large and welcoming inside, and even though its really busy, you don't feel rushed..I'm taking off a star for the chicken..i took the rest of my food home after that new piece was brought to me and even after heating it up in the microwave, it was just as raw as the one in the restaurant..i don't know if that much chicken and waffles is being ordered that they feel rushed or what..i will go back, of course, as there are several other items on the menu i want to try and the smell of the waffles cooking when you walk in the door makes me feel like I've just been hugged :)

Chase, the blonde to-go server, was the best. Very personable and professional. Probably the only reason I go back to this place. P.S. The Asian guy "Romeo" was really sketchy. Probably not helping y'all's customer returns. P.P.S The hostess, Raven, is really attractive.

First time eating here and I love the place. I had the meatloaf and what a good size portion they give you. I would definitely be going to get the chicken and waffles!

A good go to diner for breakfast. The service was good and the food came out quickly. The chicken n waffles were delish and their pancakes and eggs were also good. Just know that this is not a fancy diner by no means. But they get the job done when your hungry and looking for good food.

The was one of the best breakfasts I've had in awhile! The food was fantastic, service was excellent and you definitely get your money's worth. Had the biscuits and gravy which came with eggs and hash browns. It's 2 big plates!! This is my Diner of choice now!

Absolutely loved the breakfast pizza. Biscuit dough for a crust. Hollandaise for sauce. Eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, pepper, onion for topics. Ridiculous.

First time eating here and I love the place. I had the meatloaf and what a good size portion they give you. I would definitely be going to get the chicken and waffles!

It's good but just too far away from the house and any decent sunrise photo locations.

Great taste / great portions! Ordered the chicken buffalo sandwich- was on a dry side. The moms omelette needed some spice. Hasbrown was a little burnt. Over all a good meal.

LATEX ALLERGY!!!! Each and every single cook in the kitchen wears latex gloves. They constantly remove them and they are also powdered.
