While visiting my friend (a regular here), she took us to this place and warned us before that it's a bit of a hole in the wall but that it has excellent food. I thought she was exaggerating but she was absolutely correct. Although it doesn't have the best environment, that's not what matters most to me. The food is fantastic and that's all I cared about! Upon arrival they provide you with chips and salsa and we also ordered queso--excellent as well! Then I had shrimp fajitas for lunch (ordered the dinner portion) and it was great but way too much so I couldn't finish (took it home and devoured the rest later). My boyfriend ordered the chicken fajitas, the lunch portion though, and it was just enough for him. My friend ordered the shrimp tacos, which she recommended to me (and I should have tried but o well), and I tried a bit and they were also excellent! Still craving their food now.....I'll be back!

Let me say that the 2 stars here is for the food not the service. Everyone was very friendly and the food came out very quickly. As for the food, this is not authentic Mexican. It wasn't bad...it just wasn't very good. The cheese dip was good, creamy and buttery. I had tacos, enchilada, and a nacho tostada which turned out to be a tostado covered in meat and melted cheese. It wasn't bad but there was no delicious flavor, it was similar to something from Taco Bell. My hubby had tacos asada, they were supposed to be authentic but the steak tasted old. This man usually eats 6 tacos, here he barely ate 2. My little one had a taco as well but didn't love it. The whole meal had a feeling of thrown together cheap meat on taco shells. As a huge lover of Mexican food I don't recommend this place at all, save your bucks and go to the sandwich place on the corner.

So I ordered from this spot while on vacation to my rental from door step delivery service which I wrote a review for. I'm in Jacksonville so I did not expect 100% authentic mexican as my stepdad is mexican and that's what I've eaten since I was small. BUT this is the spot for authentic mexican food as far as I'm concerned carnitas were on point in terms of flavor and style of taco (two tortillas cilantro onion ,limon, salsa) literally exactly how it should be. Nachos were cheesy as hell I loved it !! The guac was actual mexican guac not the bulls** with tomatoes other mexican restaurant try to slide. As a chef I love to taste authentic in the least expected area because that's what this country is all about. To conclude I had the flan as my dessert I'm puerto rican and this flan taste like flan de queso if anyone knows what that is, it is my favorite version of the flan recipe. To finish off if you want mexican don't hesitate delivery from this place it'll be fresh and hot I just wish this place was back home in CT.

Best la nop location in Jacksonville! I have been here several times and the food is always great. This last time I went the service was exceptional! I accidentally spilled my own margarita and our waiter kindly gave me another free of charge! I had chicken enchiladas and a chicken tostada! Awesome as always..

Love all the LaNop locations . This one is good but sometimes the service is not as good . Kinda dirty at times, The food is usually excellent. Limited parking at lunch .

Favorite Mexican place in the area, hands down. Food and margaritas are great! Service could improve but I had my margarita, and it wasn't enough to to ruin my night!

I went to the one on Atlantic Blvd....My meal was absolutely disgusting. I ordered the chili relleno and it came with a tiny piece of pepper on a plate of mush - looked like sausage gravy - I posted a picture - the pepper on the fork was the only pepper in the entire dish. Seriously. I eat chili relleno's often and never have I experienced such a colossal mess. I also ordered the pork carnitas. The tacos came with large chunks of unseasoned meat. Margarita tasted little water. My friend took one bite out of her enchilada and tamale dish and sent it back - she said it was not eatable. She is a chef-in-training. I am still suffering from major indigestion from the one taco and several bites of the mystery chili relleno dish. God help me if I ate more. Oh, and the guacamole was mashed avocado with absolutely no seasoning at all.

So 3/5 stars is the perfect rating on the basis of food, beverage, and service. The margaritas were decent but small--maybe 6oz in size? The price made up for it--2 for 1 for around $6.50 for both. The food was okay, but fairly priced. Service was decent--food came out quickly but our server wasn't personable or easy to get a hold of when it was time for the check. The bill came to $36 for two people for 2 meals and 2 margaritas with tip. I may go back if in the area, but being that I live in riverside i would likely make my way over to Lola's burrito joint instead.

I visited this business last night with my daughter and it will be my last visit here. The waitor did not speak english and got my entire order wrong. I also have never had to go to the bar to get my own drink, or go to the kitchen area to have my food fixed properly. My advice to you, if you must eat here, is get a server that speaks english, and you may have a chance.

Food was A1, service was good. Margaritas were kick butt, $16.99 a pitcher is a bit steep. Carnitas were butter tender and very flavorfull. They are having some lighting issues and the area we sat in was dark and a bit creepy. Still a solid 4 stars for food and service.

Food was excellent and quick during lunch hours. You can get a lot of food for under $10. My friend and I both came here and the bill for our table was like $10. That included both of our lunch entrees and chips and salsa. I was barely able to finish half of my plate so I saved my leftovers and had a filling dinner that night. It was pretty fantastic. We had no problems with the waiter, he was great. This place is getting a 5/5 based on the price of food, the amount of food that you get for the price, and the quality of food based on the price. I'd recommend this place if you're looking for a good, filling lunch that's under $10. If you're looking for a nice ambiance, then I wouldn't recommend it.

Nondescript location. Blacked out windows and poor signage. Slight smell of mildew when you walk in. DELicious food. Great salsa. Fantastic value. Bring your appetite when you come to this neighborhood dive in shabby chic San Marco.

The red salsa served with the chips was very promising. The bartender was doubling as server and was attentive. However, the margarita was so-so, average amount of tequila but typical bottled flavored sweet+sour. I ordered the burrito California and a shredded beef taco a la carte. The taco was great but the burrito...major dissapointment. Why oh why do so many Mexican food places here find it necessary to drench everything in horrid nacho cheese sauce? Servers claim homemade, but the flavor and texture read melted white american cheese with whatever the hell else mixed in. Most menu items say topped with nacho cheese, and I generally avoid such menu items. How annoying when the item doesn't say it its served with it, then there it is, covering whatever may be on the plate. If I return, it's just for tacos + non alcoholic beverages, but probably not going to happen.

The place is dark and kind of slow for me. I was in search of a quick dinner and get back to the hospital. I got some tacos thinking that it could be done fast. We'll the chips came out quickly. The salsa was pretty good and did have some kick if you got enough on your chip. The tacos were tasty but took longer then I thought they might. The whole experience was less then what I wanted. We have eaten at this restaurant a handful of time and like most La Nap's it's a hit an miss place. Sometimes good sometimes bad.

Okay it may not be high end food...but sometimes nothing else but the Nap will do...their chips and salsa before the meal are great...the food is simple but satisfying. And I seem to always head there with my favorite people.

Worst service I've had in my life. Let me preface this by saying I worked as a server for over three years. I give most people the benefit of the doubt and try not to judge too quickly. Our server was a white girl which is a bit unusual as most people who work there are hispanic, but that's neither here nor there. Just not sure if she still works there and as long as she does I'll never go back. She looked strung out on something. Okay, whatever. We sit down and order water and chips with queso. We get the queso but no drinks and no chips. 15 minutes and she comes by to take our order and realizes she never got our waters. We get chips long before our waters. Finally we are set and ready to order. I was pregnant at the time and most food set me off so I only wanted chicken and cheese in my quesadilla. Food comes 30 minutes later (there are only 4 of us and the restaurant is not full) and my quesadilla has no chicken but tons of other stuff. She never comes to check on us. I hear the table behind us complain about her to the manager. Eventually we just ask for whoever walking by to get us the check. 20 minutes go by and no check. We go to the front counter and try to get it so we can pay. We see our server chatting and laughing at another table and she walks by and ask how our food is. I told her it was terrible and she said she doesn't cook the food so it's not her fault. I tell her she could have checked on us and she just gives me the snarkiest attitude. We were planning on leaving no tip but after that we just walked out. Never going back.

As a picky eater I have received great service when ordering my plain food. The beer can be a little large for dinner but hey, why not. It can get a little crowded and loud inside and parking can be a bear but it is good place for a get-together with friends and family.

I will say this coming from California and living in Florida now this restaurant does have some pretty decent Mexican food not as spicy and authentic as I would like . they do have some really good chicken chimichangas... so if you're ever in the neighborhood and want good quality food I would highly recommend you coming in checking this out this is where me and my friends hang out all the time once we go out to dinner.. And the service is always good

One of the best places to eat in San Marco. I've been to a few La Nops but this one was so close to home it was frequented most. When it comes to Mexican food, I am not very adventurous but they have great tacos, salads, fajitas and chips and salsa. There is generally never a wait for a table, very quick to take and get your order to you. Parking can be a pain, parking on side streets may be the best bet. Best part: PITCHERS of Margaritas!
(4)
Alex S.
It always smells around this place. Not sure if it's La Nop, or the neighboring restaurants, but the parking lot always reeks. It's not the best La Nopalera in town, the parking is limited and the restaurant is cramped, but the food is the same.

Every La Nop is a little different. Maybe quirky is the better way to describe it. Meeting my girls for a quick bite before we got in touch with our tween selves at the Backstreet Boys concert, we wanted something fast & not too heavy on the stomach. Plus, cheap drinks was a factor. La Nop fit the bill. We ordered some guacamole for the table, but I should have said something & had them rethink it. I knew the guac wasn't that good. It's not chunky and seems more like a sauce (perfect for inside a burrito!) It feels more like store bought guac than fresh made guac. My main dish on the other hand was delicious. I went with a new order (for me) and got the Burrito Pansone. Remember that 'quirk' I mentioned; I don't remember seeing this on the menu at any of the other La Nops I frequent. But I'll take a closer look next time. Pork marinated and stuffed in a flour tortilla, topped with nacho cheese and sauce and served with rice and salad. The 'salad' of chopped lettuce and a slice of tomato included a dollop of sour cream and guacamole as well. For not really being sure of what was going to come out, this dish was a crowd pleaser. Side note: If you like to order club soda in your cocktail - as my mom does - this location does NOT have club soda. Never figured out for sure if it was another quirk of the evening or if they honestly just don't have it at all.

Lots of good Mexican food, for a super low price. I ordered the chili relleno lunch and it came with the chili relleno, an avacado taco salad and a beef taco. Also got a tea and I was out the door WITH tip for $9.00

Great Mexican food. I recommend the chimichangas. 2 for 1 margaritas happens all the time, and the veggies are fresh. Free chips and salsa and the salsa is great! Other recommendations: California Burrito and Fajitas.

Oh, Nopalera - how I miss you! Authentic? No. Great service? Not really. Damn good food? Hell. Yes. The 18 years I spent in Jacksonville I definitely did not get to enjoy La Nap (as we like to shorten it to; yes, I know it makes little sense) as much as I would have liked. Lunch time at this location gets PACKED. Like insane, can't find a parking spot, probably won't have time to eat before I have to get back to work. The taco salad was my favorite there. HUGE and delicious. :D Whenever I go back home I try to visit, though I'm usually not successful. One day, La Nap; one day!

This place is always packed and I can see why. It's pretty decent Mexican food for a good price. The service is pretty excellent and the menu is expansive so you have a lotta choices. The margarita is tasty too. Oh, they also give you a lot of food. I always leave super full. Complimentary chips and salsa (the salsa is excellent). Hmmm... now that I'm writing this, I'm gonna bump my rating from a 3 to a 4. It's definitely good value and good service... can't ask for more than that!

Cheap "pretend" Mexican food. I love it..lol Lived in Texas for a number of years and authentic this ain't but for $5 to $10 bucks I can pretend with the best of them that this is good quality food. I crave the Fajita Nacho's once or twice a month and the Speedy Gonzalez is my go to cheap lunch!

I am a native Texan and this is a really good Mexican food restaurant. The tacos are great beans are authentic the rice is good the only thing it's not so great is the chips are not made in house.

Delicious, strong margaritas. Hilarious servers. Sensational Nopalera fajitas and their carnitas are heart-stopping-good This is our hole in the wall "disappear into the world of good food and drink" escape. Put on some jeans and a tshirt with those flip flops and go have some tasty food.

I did not like the "skinny margarita", light in calories. The other kind, on the rocks or frozen are great! Any kind of food here is excellent and great prices! Nice staff.

THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST!! I wish I could give it a thousand stars! Be warned: this place is not fancy. However, they keep it clean and at least one bathroom is always working. The food is delicious, fresh, and super cheap! 2 for 1 Margaritas everyday. I REPEAT: 2 FOR 1 MARGARITAS EVERYDAY! (after 3:00). The drinks are strong and a good size. Best of all, they have the most wonderful staff of any restaurant in Jacksonville. Martin (mar-TEEN) is the King of customer service. If it's your birthday, you get a tequila shot, and they will bring out a giant sombrero, plop it on your head, and sing to you. Not like at TGIFridays or some other generic place. They act like they are truly thrilled that it's your birthday. Okay back to the food- I always order from the a la carte menu because it's plenty of food. Most places give you attitude when you do this, but not here. Regular menu items are ENORMOUS but equally delicious. My husband and I split the seafood enchiladas once and even though it was so good we couldn't finish it- 2 hungry people! Seriously, do yourself a favor and swing into La Nop in San Marco for your Mexican fix.

The food was decent. The Platillo del Mar was surprisingly good. The place was kind of dumpy. Throw a coat of paint on the walls already. Some of the staff were kind or grumpy. The iced tea tasted like crap.

If you are looking for delicious, cheap Mexican, this is about as good as it gets in Jacksonville. The staff is truly authentic, usually speaking broken English, or none at all [and those who don't are in training and usually work as bussers], but they are constantly sharing in jovial, Spanish discussions. English/Spanish ASIDE! The food here is inexpensive, delicious, and the portions are huge. You can take your pick from nearly twenty combo dinners [ie 2 Enchiladas + Rice and Beans or for the heartier bunch 1 Burrito + 1 Enchilada + 1 Tamale to name a few] for all under $8. They also have a host of tasty entrees. My favorite is the Tacos De Asada, a traditional dish of three soft tacos with seasoned pulled pork and served with diced fresh onion and cilantro and a very spicy salsa to go on top. It's delish and fresh and I get it every time! They also have some great drink specials and happy hour deals. They serve gargantuan beers upon request and make some tasty margaritas. Probably the best thing about La Nop [as the locals call it] is the loyalty of the customers. There is a wall of pictures inside the restaurant of patrons enjoying their Mexican morsels [or a shot of tequila - Happy Birthday ala La Nop!] Not the most spick and span of settings, but worth it!

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner here. Great service, the portions are hearty, and the food is delicious. Authentic is relative, so my opinion isn't important regarding that. The most important thing in tight times, the prices were very reasonable. Food was very good.....Will be back.

Salvation! We were in the neighborhood and gave La Nop a try because it came highly recommended by the staff at our hotel. All I can say is, THIS is the Mexican food I've been waiting for over the 3 years since we moved to Florida! We were here on a Tuesday evening so the place wasn't packed, parking was a breeze and we got seated and waited on almost instantly. The servers aren't very talkative, but they're fast and attentive. The other reviewers here aren't exaggerating about the portions you get for the price - I got 2 tacos, a mondo-sized toastada, and an enchilada for $7.49, a price you'd expect to see on the lunch menu at most places for a fraction of the food. As for the food itself, dynamite! They brought out my crunchy shell tacos on a separate plate, which I definitely appreciated as most other Mexican restaurants put crunchy tacos on the same plate with everything else and the shells get mushy. My wife ordered the chicken & steak fajitas, which came out in a mountainous stack of at least 60% meats and 40% veggies - it's usually the other way around with fajitas at other places, with maybe half the portions. When we ordered our Dos Equis, our server said it comes in "little and big" glasses, which we assumed meant 16 or 22 oz...no sir! The "big" glasses that came out to our table looked more like pitchers, filled to the brim, which I expected to be at least $10 apiece on our check but were each only $4.50 - for more beer than we'd have in a pitcher for this price at most places. Bottom line - La Nopalera isn't "most places", and it's definitely a cut above every other Mexican and Tex-Mex joint we've been to in Palm Bay and Melbourne, our neck of the woods. This La Nop may not be considered authentic Mexican cuisine, may not look like much from the outside, and there's nothing "fancy" about the inside - just a laid back atmosphere, good times, great drinks, and outstanding food. There really isn't much more I could ask for. You Jax locals just don't realize how good you have it with SEVERAL of these to choose from around the city - all we get in Palm Bay is Taco Bell, mediocre Moe's, and the microwaved disappointments of Rancho Viejo. We would be eternally grateful for just ONE La Nop down here - it would blow every other Mexican and Tex-Mex within a 30 mile radius off the map!

The basic Mexican plates (burritos, tacos, enchiladas, etc,) are descent... especially for the price... but I can tell you that the "rib eye" steaks sucks... is just a piece of meat smashed to make it tender... but it is not a good cut of meat... but what can you expect for $10... Service was okay... nothing special... overall I might go again just because is the only Mexican restaurant near my work area... but not a place I will really look forward to go to... And parking is very limited... you might have to park away from the restaurant depending how full it is.

I usually eat burritos from the Mission, so I was unexpectedly blown away by La Nopalera in Jacksonville. The burritos were good, the chips were freshly made, the salsa was perfectly spiced (cilantro is your friend) and the flan was amazing. The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired (unless you desire a cafeteria motif and flickering fluorescent lights), but I wanted to come back the next night.

A lot of people can't seem to pronounce it, but everyone knows La Nopalera. If you told me that you live in Jacksonville and haven't eaten at one of their locations, I would assume you've made a mistake. Cheap, fast, tasty. This is comfort Mexican... Nothing fancy but it always hits the spot.

I've eaten at a few other La Nopalera locations and have not been impressed. I had a recent gathering at this location and was told that this location was better than others. I give it 2 stars. I would give it 1 star, but the food is edible and the service was okay. The chips were stale tasting, but the salsa was actually pretty flavorful. My husband ordered the California burrito (it was a burrito of some sort) and I ordered chicken fajitas. Both of our orders were incredibly salty and flavorless. I'm not really sure if you can call the beans that came with my meal beans. Let's say "beans". The "beans" were again very salty and flavorless. The texture was really weird for beans. I've had beans from a can and I make my own refried beans, so I really don't understand La Nopalera's "beans". My chicken was way overcooked. The thing that I love the most in Mexican food is the incredibly flavorful meat. And La Nopalera missed the mark (actually, they've never hit it for me). I should probably mention that I come from the land of awesome Mexican food (Southern California), so I've had some really amazing Mexican food (some of it in really gross looking places). On the plus side, our frozen margaritas were pretty tasty. The portion sizes were very large and the price was really cheap. But none of these tempt me to eat here again because the food just doesn't taste good.

First location I tried was the San marco. LOVED it! It's like a hole in the wall where you don't care much for the lack of atmosphere as much as you do the food and margaritas! I've also been to the location on Atlantic, San Jose, and Beach. San Jose and Beach definatley have the nicer atmosphere and cleaner "look". The salsa at Beach isn't as good as it is on San Jose or Atlantic. Atlantic is also very small but has very fast service and the food is still just as good. (it could be fast for me since it doesn't take long for what I like) I may not know what "authentic" mexican food is. But this is the type of mexican I grew up on back home so it's great to me. I've also had the "tex mex" and "authentic" mexican in California and in Jersey just outside of NY and I was so unimpressed that I didn't finish my food. If I can find someone who says there is another place in Jax or St. Augustine that can do it better with a similar flare of La Nop, I'd love to find it

Service was awful, place has zero atmosphere. Food is ok, but the atmosphere and service zeroed that out. Major disappointment.

only had the chicken quesadillas, but i'm giving them 5 stars anyway. it was super cheap, they turned it around quick (i took it to go), and they gave me a big bag of fresh chips for free. i didn't expect the chips from a $10 to go order. the chicken quesadilla was the second best i had on my 5 week tour/mexican food hunt. this area was pretty desolate last time i came through and played at jack rabbit's, but now i'm looking forward to the next time i come through jax.

Awsome Mexican food. Almost went down the street to High Tide Burrito with the teenagers working behind the counter. If that's your thing fine. But if you want excellent food just walk a block away and your there.

In the land of subpar eateries, La Nopalera is right with the pack. Yeah, I'm a little picky. I'm used to great food and haven't really found too much of it here. The stuff I've had at Nopalera doesn't do anything at all for me. The fajitas are salty and not flavorful. They use shredded chicken/ground beef in most of their dishes which are totally inferior meats compared to carne asada and good pollo. The people are friendly overall, but when my meal came cold and I asked for it to be warmed, the guy acted like I was crazy. He even got his manager who acted like he was doing me a big favor to warm up the plate. Anyway, not impressed and won't be back. I much prefer Rosy's as reviewed below.

I've been to the San Marco and the "Beach" location of La Nop but I find the San Marco one tends to have slightly better food. It's one of the curious bits of irony to me as this isn't the cleanest restaurant I've ever been to. Not disgusting, mind you, but it can be a bit less then tidy come the end of the day. The floor plan is odd as this little restaurant has grown to pretty much encompass most of the small strip mall it inhabits and now has basically four storefront's space including the kitchen. Parking is always the real challenge of visiting this place, but I always seem to have a magical stroke of luck and get there as someone is backing away. If you prefer a more traditional Mexican grease fest instead of the all too healthy Fauxican you get from places like Qdoba or Moe's then you can't really go wrong with La Nop. Oh and may I recommend their Chimichanga.

This is a cheap, guilty pleasure kind of place. It's not fancy and the food is not authentic but it fits the "I want to go someplace decadent" bill for me. They do have vegetarian (not vegan) dishes and a decent happy hour margarita. The service is usually very good and attentive. The layout of the place is curious but speaks to their success (acquiring contiguous space from failed businesses). In Darwinian terms, they have survived and thrived while others around them have failed.

The huevos con chorizo was really good. It was eggs scrambled with Mexican sausage. I would have preferred if it had more eggs and less sausage, but the flavor was really yummy. It came with refried beans, rice, and two flour tortillas. It was $6.99 and I was stuffed. I felt like I couldn't even move after eating and I didn't even finish it all. Great deal, and great food. I will definitely come here again. Next time I think I'll try their special dinner, where you can sample the chalupa, chile relleno, taco, rice, beans, enchilada and tamale for $9.99.

The Nopalera experience involves: seating yourself (which sometimes is difficult because La Nop is beloved by many in Jacksonville), almost ruining your dinner with chips and salsa, getting a drink as big as your head, devouring a plate of moderately greasy average Mexican food that is often delicious but sometimes has consequences, and--if you are from out of town--marvelling at how inexpensive the food is. For this is the charm of La Nop.
(3)
Jibreel M.
The Nop! This is the San Marco branch of one of the city's favorite Mexican places. My favorite is still the original in Orange Park but this one is much closer/more central. Three dining areas - seat yourself (I LOVE seating myself, wish more places did that). NOT upscale, pretentious or a place to make a dazzling impression but fun. Almost always busy, almost always fastfastfast service. The food comes out piping hot and it's your standard fare - don't expect it to be fantastic. Tacos, quesadillas, chimichangas, beans & rice - oh, and free chips and salsa of course. Margaritas and HUGE mugs of Dos Equis too if the mood strikes you. Fairly cheap prices on all of the above and mucho friendly staff, hence the popularity. If you haven't been to one, you either don't live in the 904 area code or think it's beneath you (you uppity bastard, take some things at face value!). One thing though, the fluorescent lighting in this location is way too bright. They really need to get rid of that shit, it gives the place a school lunchroom feel it doesn't deserve. It's really 2 1/2 stars but whatever...

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

(4)Joe H.
Love all the LaNop locations . This one is good but sometimes the service is not as good . Kinda dirty at times, The food is usually excellent. Limited parking at lunch .
(4)Gemma M.

(1)Chris C.
Food was A1, service was good. Margaritas were kick butt, $16.99 a pitcher is a bit steep. Carnitas were butter tender and very flavorfull. They are having some lighting issues and the area we sat in was dark and a bit creepy. Still a solid 4 stars for food and service.
(4)Monica A.
(5)Jim C.
Nondescript location. Blacked out windows and poor signage. Slight smell of mildew when you walk in. DELicious food. Great salsa. Fantastic value. Bring your appetite when you come to this neighborhood dive in shabby chic San Marco.
(4)Aaron R.
(2)Mark B.
(3)Leah S.
Okay it may not be high end food...but sometimes nothing else but the Nap will do...their chips and salsa before the meal are great...the food is simple but satisfying. And I seem to always head there with my favorite people.
(5)Elaine A.
Food was delicious, our server Desiree was great! Drinks were as good as Chilie's, I highly recommend
(5)Jamie J.
(1)Michael M.
As a picky eater I have received great service when ordering my plain food. The beer can be a little large for dinner but hey, why not. It can get a little crowded and loud inside and parking can be a bear but it is good place for a get-together with friends and family.
(4)Trever P.
And the service is always good
(5)Jen B.
(4)Alex S.
It always smells around this place. Not sure if it's La Nop, or the neighboring restaurants, but the parking lot always reeks. It's not the best La Nopalera in town, the parking is limited and the restaurant is cramped, but the food is the same.
(3)Daisy D.
(3)Anonymous T.
Lots of good Mexican food, for a super low price. I ordered the chili relleno lunch and it came with the chili relleno, an avacado taco salad and a beef taco. Also got a tea and I was out the door WITH tip for $9.00
(4)Kory H.
Great Mexican food. I recommend the chimichangas. 2 for 1 margaritas happens all the time, and the veggies are fresh. Free chips and salsa and the salsa is great! Other recommendations: California Burrito and Fajitas.
(5)Quay M.
(5)Kelly C.
(4)Kat W.
(4)Carl H.
I am a native Texan and this is a really good Mexican food restaurant. The tacos are great beans are authentic the rice is good the only thing it's not so great is the chips are not made in house.
(4)Alexis B.
(5)Rebecca N.
I did not like the "skinny margarita", light in calories. The other kind, on the rocks or frozen are great! Any kind of food here is excellent and great prices! Nice staff.
(4)Bob S.
This is the same location as 1631 Hendricks. They've grown into 3 or 4 bays of a strip center. See my review under the other listing. yelp.com/biz/la-nopalera…

(5)Edward J.
The food was decent. The Platillo del Mar was surprisingly good. The place was kind of dumpy. Throw a coat of paint on the walls already. Some of the staff were kind or grumpy. The iced tea tasted like crap.
(3)Hilary L.
(5)Juan G.
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner here. Great service, the portions are hearty, and the food is delicious. Authentic is relative, so my opinion isn't important regarding that. The most important thing in tight times, the prices were very reasonable. Food was very good.....Will be back.
(4)Daniel B.
(5)Hesays Shesays R.
(2)P J.
(4)Brian F.
(5)David W.
Great food, the "Taco's El Pastor" Rock... Love the California Burrito as well.. cool place to hang out!
(4)Clarissa D.
(2)Leslee C.
Augustine that can do it better with a similar flare of La Nop, I'd love to find it
(4)Kristin D.
Service was awful, place has zero atmosphere. Food is ok, but the atmosphere and service zeroed that out. Major disappointment.
(1)Will N.
only had the chicken quesadillas, but i'm giving them 5 stars anyway. it was super cheap, they turned it around quick (i took it to go), and they gave me a big bag of fresh chips for free. i didn't expect the chips from a $10 to go order. the chicken quesadilla was the second best i had on my 5 week tour/mexican food hunt. this area was pretty desolate last time i came through and played at jack rabbit's, but now i'm looking forward to the next time i come through jax.
(5)Laura T.
Unfortunately the place smells like an open sewer when you first walk in. It goes away a little once you get used to. Too bad. The food is good.
(2)Jennifer F.
La Nop is a Jacksonville staple with great food and cheap prices.....Huge portions of everything. We come here regularly and it never disappoints!
(5)Kevin S.
Awsome Mexican food. Almost went down the street to High Tide Burrito with the teenagers working behind the counter. If that's your thing fine. But if you want excellent food just walk a block away and your there.
(5)Jay L.
(2)Harvey L.
(4)Steve M.
Munch five pounds of chips While I wait for my order. Stomach hurts so bad.....
(3)Kirk O.
(4)Wendy L.
(4)Whitney W.
(3)Jibreel M.
