Hoping to impress my date i took him to bolly-meadows. I was expecting a stellar Indian cuisine experience. Instead, I got soggy samosas and tomato pureed sauce. I should have been suspicious when the starting condiments of tamarind and green chutney sauce tasted stale. Vegetarian samosas, our appetizer, resembled carnival Indian fried bread. The first bite left streaks of oil on my lips. While moisturizer, not appetizing. I ordered Aloo Mataar, he ordered a chicken dish. He didn't seem to mind his dish, but the usual accolades of someone eating Indian food for the first time were not present. I tasted the sauce, it was sweet. No flair, no spices bang. The Aloo Mataar, which is usually filling and flavorful, was clunky. The sauce looked and tasted like tomato paste. For these reasons, i am going to have to chop India House from my southeast Asian restaurant roster.

My wife and I had an excellent dinner despite a hiccup over our ordered appetizer (samosas) as they took a long time to come. Discovered this was due to something wrong with their till. After that was resolved the rest of the meal went well, we had the samosas, then chicken tikka masala, rogan gosht, dhall tarka accompanied by pappadums, naan and bismati rice. Everything was served hot and very tasty. One can specify how much 'hotness' one requires, my wife like 'hot', I like it 'medium'. The service was good. The manager was Lokendra who surprised us by giving us a discount (which we had not asked for) for the meal on account of the aforementioned delay. We will be back with friends.

Tried out this place during a visit To Jax and glad we did. Awesome food. Good and fast service! Reasonable lunch buffet prices and the Indian chai tea was so delicious and a plus.

Had the lunch buffet and was happy with my meal. There are better offerings nearby such as 5th element for overall food quality. They bring out fresh naan that is leaps and bounds better than 5th but the food left me wanting. They only had one rice which was a letdown and even slightly cold. The masala didn't have much flavor. The saag was good and they had some funky nacho thing that was ok. I came here due to the positive reviews and to compare another Indian restaurant. Not bad overall but there are better.

I'm an occasional visitor to Jacksonville. I've eaten at a couple of Jacksonville Indian restaurants: India House and 5th Element. They are not far from each other, both on Baymeadows. At both places I had the same dish, my favorite: Lamb Boti Kebab. The dish at India House included rice. I ordered naan bread on the side. The dish at 5th Element came with a choice of rice or naan, and I chose naan. The dish at India House had significantly more lamb. Although both were excellent, I preferred the one at India House a little bit. (I had enough food at 5th Element... and too much food at India House. But it was so good I couldn't stop eating.) Given the edge in taste and the significantly larger portion for about the same price, I recommend India House over 5th Element... but not by much. You'd enjoy both. Note: both places appeared clean, and both offered very good service. At India House, there were many more Indian people, while there were very few people at 5th Element. That difference may have been because of the evenings I ate at the two places.

India house is great. I didn't get to dine in so I'm not taking in to consideration customer service or atmosphere. The take out was so good. I ordered chicken tika masala and spicy chicken vindaloo. I also ordered some garlic naan. The chicken dishes were both flavorful and delicious. The garlic naan was fantastic too! I definitely recommend this place. It was so so so good!!

Great place, authentic food. The smiles may be lacking when you arrive, but the service is pretty good.

Sooooo frickin' good! Hubby even returned the very next day for more of their scrumptiousness!! Let me tell you, it's hard for me to give a five star review for a buffet. Food simply sits for hours, but this type of food and this restaurant makes you feel as if you've ordered every dish on the menu to sample and it was all made especially for you. (You can order off a menu, but I wasn't entirely sure what to get.) I have limited experience with this type of food, but wanted to give it a try. Hubby is an expert. I snapped up the goat curry and savory every tender, succulent bite. So delish! I tried chicken marsala and other dishes I'm not quite familiar with, but ecstatically enjoyed all the same. There wasn't an overcooked dish in the bunch and that included chicken! (For me, chicken in a buffet tends to get rubbery and just overcooked, but NOT here.) Here, their chicken stays moist and flavorful. Their rice (Basmati or Biryani) is simple and utter perfection. (That's a high compliment from me!) I salute the chef, the waitstaff, the owner and any other position that keeps this restaurant running. Our waiter swooped in at the right time, every time. He was polite and friendly without appearing like he was hovering or overly annoyingly over attentive. The guy at the register gave us EACH a card and stamped it to earn a free dinner. Not what we expected here and we look forward to earning that dinner/lunch. The ambience is so wonderfully casual, yet can definitely see business lunches happening here. Yes, there were more people of Indian descent than others, but it wasn't like we were under a microscope and felt like outsiders when we walked in. Oh, the naan!!!!! If you taste nothing else, get the naan bread. I would travel miles on foot without shoes for a meager taste of their bread. I'm telling you, it's nirvana!

Food was good, service was terrible. We waited over 30 min to be served lunch. We ordered from the menu rather than the buffet.

Top of the charts for me! Tried the maharajah non-vegetarian and was pleasantly surprised. A great way to sample several dishes at one sitting. No disappointment for me.

Great, great food. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a great Indian restaurant in Jacksonville. Service was great... very nice staff and made great suggestions. The food was plenty. Way too much (but I still ate it all.) Tiki Masala was good and the naan was fresh. Fabulous place!

I love this place. We drive from Springfield knowing that it's always worth the trek (cummon, downtown! Just ONE good Indian buffet, please!). I'm a vegetarian that knows only flesh eaters so this place is perfect. Always friendly, fast service, great food (the weekend "super buffet" is well worth an extra buck, I just kind of wish it was always "super buffet").

Solidly good and very reasonably priced lunch buffet. Plenty of choices and fresh salad. Naan didn't look very fresh on the day I visited, so I passed, but everything else was very good and you can't beat $6.99!

Very good Indian food with a nice selection on the menu. I come here each year the night before the Jacksonville Bank Marathon and they always take care of me and my friends. I suggest the Chicken Korma and Chicken Saag. Very good!

Authentic Indian food! Stopped by for a quick bite one night and had the tandoori chicken. So much flavor and huge portions. I can't wait to come back for lunch when they have their buffet specials. If you like Indian food-- this is the place for you. And there were tons of Indian people dinning there!

I ordered chicken korma.... it had no coconut/cream taste at all, and no cashews or raisins (not always in the dish but)... just tasted like chicken curry. I confirmed with the waiter that it was korma, not curry.... but hmm. Otherwise, the restaurant has a nice interior, and other food at the table was good.

Been here several more times after writing my first review, and I am still amazed at how good their meals were compared to the other indian restaurants in town. I came for lunch one day and they had a buffet that was complete with many of their famous dishes. They will bring out fresh na'an bread during lunch hour instead of having it out in the open on the buffet table. Service have improved the last couple of times which brought up the star. If you are cultured and love food from around the world and want to try out an indian dish or two, india house is the place to go!

Excellent lunch on Sunday. Don't go to this place RUN to it. You either love Indian food or don't. This is one of the best Indian food experiences I have ever had.
(5)
Amber A.
Their buffet has great meat and veg choices including some rare treats for buffet like malai kofta and manchurian veg. Their mixed pickles and chai tea are great. I wish they had better dessert but the kheer is ok. They serve fresh naan with the buffet brought hot to your table instead of dried and old like many places do.

I have only had Indian food twice in my life, I have been looking for a good place so I downloaded the yelp app to find a good place to go. The reviews on this place were amazing and completely dead on. Our waiter was very attentive, he talked and joked with us and made sure everything we needed we had. The menu had a great variety. The inside was very clean as well as decorative and I felt as if I was in a cruise ship with the style of the restaurant. I decided on the chicken curry as did my boyfriend. He has never eaten Indian food and was very skeptical about trying it. But our food came out he absolutely loved it. India House is definitely a favorite for us now. We will definitely be back.

Disclaimer: I am not an expert on Indian food. I usually stick to chicken tikka marasala and chicken tandoori. We have been here a few times and the platters are huge. I came today for the lunch buffet. I got here at 11:30 so all the food was hot and fresh. I got the usuals plus a few new things. I recommend if u are bringing a friend who is unfamiliar with Indian to form during the buffet. I actually liked the goat curry. The lunch buffet is just under 8 bucks. I also noticed they have Duke's Brown Ale from bold city on the menu. Score! I will be back.

This place is the only Indian joint I've been able to find that actually comes close to my favorite Indian restaurant in L.A.. My mom and I both ordered the Chicken Makani. It was rich, buttery, cumin, the flavors really married and rocked! My Dad ordered some veggie dish that was also excellent and the service was good. I would say this is as good as it gets in Jacksonville. I highly reccomend!

We went here with a couple of Indian friends so they knew what to order (and I won't pretend I can repeat it here). The food was great and plentiful. The beer was cold and Indian (but brewed in the US). Really was an enjoyable and relatively cheap evening. The service was nothing great, but just sit back and enjoy the food.

I don't know what's taken me so long to write a review on the India House, but I must let everyone know how wonderful this place is. I keep seeing negative reviews for other Indian restaurants and reviewers saying they wish they could find a decent Indian restaurant. Well....you're in luck. The India House is not only amazeballs, but it's also a great place to try Indian food for the first time. A couple of months ago, my husband, friend and I were on a mission to finally try Indian food. We decided the best way to do it, was to eat buffet style. We went on a Saturday around 1230 and there was a decent crowd, but we were seated right away. The staff joked around with us and said they were more then happy to answer any questions we had. I guess they could tell we were Indian food virgins. This is always much appreciated though, especially when eating foreign food. So our waiter then brings the basket of naan to the table. Oh yes, I think we're going to like this! After ordering our drinks and savoring the fresh hot naan, we went to the buffet table with our eyes really wide. They must have 20+ items including: salad, chutneys and soups, numerous varieties of meat and veggie dishes, rices, naan and desserts. All the dishes are labeled, which was great for us and helped to remember what our favorite dishes were called. All the food was pretty mild with spice. This is also a plus for people that can't handle spicy food. Loved the Butter Chicken, Tandoori Chicken, Chana Masala (chickpea dish), and Gulab Jamun. They say the gulab jamun are cheese balls dipped in syrup, but they really taste like donut holes soaked in sweet floral syrup. Yum! I could have a love affair with those things. There was so much food on the buffet that I don't even think I was able to try everything. We all were just stuffed when we left. For $9.95 on the weekends, this is a great deal and wonderful way to see if you like Indian food or not. I am such a fan and can't believe it's taken me this long to have Indian food become a part of my food life. Check this place out. You won't regret it.

Went there yesterday for lunch. Was semi busy. Delicious buffet. Ugly seating arrangements the chairs were pretty uncomfortable and the restaurant had like an indian towel over its windows as if it was closed. But I would say given that we only paid 20 bux for 3 people and the food was delicious it was actually live able for about 30 minutes. Service was great.

Wow! Just.... WOW! I just finished my first portion of chicken korma (I ordered take out) and it was amazing! I also ordered the house bread basket (half size). Not sure which flavor naan I just ate but it was very good. And they gave me some popadoms and sauces to try. I can't wait to dine in at the restaurant and try the buffet options! Prices are very good and portions are huge!

India house is the best indian restaurant in Jacksonville. After trying many over the years, finally one has the combination of great food, great (friendly) service, class, quality and a good atmostphere. Both the buffet and general menu are excellent. If you are new to Jax or have been here a while, this should be the go-to place for Indian Food...

Visited this place on the drive back from Orlando to New Jersey. Very conveniently located near I95. We told them that we were in a hurry so they were very quick with food and were always very attentive. Paneer makhani was cooked perfectly with soft and succulent pieces of paneer bathing in creamy gravy. Malai kofta was very flavorful and delicious. Tandoori rotis were cooked just perfect and lightly coated with butter - just right. Sometimes a simple thing like rotis can really enhance or ruin the whole experience. we would definitely try this place again when in the area and hopefully get to try many more items on the menu.

I was driving on I-95 North on a long road trip. I visited this place based on the various reviews and convenient location near exit of I-95. It is a great restaurant with great food. As I cook Indian food myself and go to various cities in US sampling good Indian food (I am yet to post many reviews), this place was awesome. I ordered the the Vegetarian Thali (Platter) and every item was very good. The thali had lot of items. The only minor mistake the waiter did was bringing naan instead of puri (which is an option available) but whether it was the shahi paneer, saag paneer, chole, baigan bharta, samosa everything tasted good. Even the platter has multiple options (e.g. you can have naan or puri, kheer or gulab jamun as desert). The owner/chef is of Nepali origin and their motto is we serve food with love is very true. If I am in Jacksonville, FL again, I will be there. There is no Indian restaurant in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area which would come even close.

This place is DELICIOUS. I just got their lunch buffet after seeing this place on Yelp, there were a lot of ooptions and everything I tried was the best I've had in Jax, their curries also have a nice kick to them and arent completely bland like some I've come accross. 7.95 for the lunch buffet is also an unreal deal, the pakora are worth that alone! The people working were courteous and friendly but not overbearing, this will become a regular lunch spot for me!

I recently moved to Jacksonville and I visited several Indian restaurants. Many of the other ones were good, but this one is definitely one of my favorites. The restaurant is clean and well decorated. The staff is very courteous and the food is great. The lunch buffet includes free chai tea. Can't wait to come back!

My husband, our dog, and I were staying in Jacksonville for a night as we were driving south and needed a restaurant for take out, we thought. At India House we were able to dine outside with our dog at our feet. Our food was delicious and the service was excellent. Our waiter, who is originally from Nepal was particularly pleasant to chat with.

Dropped by to grab to-go from the lunch buffet cause I was looking for apartments in the area. They give you a box and let you fill it as much as possible for $7.95, same price as dining in. When you are ready to check out, they include a generous portion of naan to go with your box!! I came around 1 pm so I assume everything was still fresh. The chicken tikka masala was awesome but the chicken was a little dry. Same with the tandoori... just a tad dry. Goat curry was delicious!! Barely too spicy for me but so good I would keep eating it. I really gotta come try the sampler soon if the freshly made dishes are so much better! LISTEN, it was bright and sunny when I walked into the restaurant. I probably spent about 10 minutes inside and when I walked out, it was already pouring rain! Bummer......... But one of the employees ran outside with an umbrella to walk me to my car. What a caring person!

First time at this restaurant. Service super friendly but what was amazing was the FOOD. Generous chunks of white meat in the Chicken Tika Masala. The sauce the best I had ever had. My hubby had the Chicken Saag Wala again, the flavors and spices were magically proportioned making for a perfect taste. The menu is very extensive. We also had the platter for 2 with vegetarian app items, it was wonderful but big enough to share with 3 or 4 people! Everything tasted hot and fresh, definitely the best Indian restaurant I have eaten in a few different states! Well done!

Being somewhat of a connoisseur of quality Indian food, I was excited to try India House with its various rave reviews and great Yelp rating. Amongst the great reviews, however, were a few complaining that India House was pushing uninspired, bland, and Americanized flavors under the guise of authentic Indian cuisine; I took a risk and tried it anyway. My girlfriend and I arrived around 7 pm on a Friday evening and were promptly seated in a booth close to the door. Water and pappadams with accompanying chutneys were brought out. The pappadams were lacking in the usual crispness, leaving them flaccid and bland seeming like they'd been left out on a humid day, or just weren't fresh. We ordered the vegetable appetizer sampler to start, which consisted of veg samosa, onion pakora, aloo tikki, and one other item I did not recognize. The dish was decent overall, with everything being fried and the onion pakora being the best item. The samosa was not spiced very well and had a cakey filling... I think it was frozen, not fresh. For entrees, I ordered a chicken korma medium spice, which the waiter assured us was hot for America. My girlfriend ordered malai kafta medium hot. We complemented the meal with 2 garlic and 1 plain naan. The food came out fairly quickly, but was immediately disappointing. My korma did have cashews shredded on top, but the sauce itself was more reminiscent of a tomato and butter bisque than anything remotely Indian. I tasted no exotic Indian spices, the main attraction of Indian cuisine for me. The heat of the dish was adequate, but didn't make up for the egregious spice violations. My girlfriend had similar sentiments about her dish, and the bland sauces were difficult to distinguish even to the trained tongue, in any case. The naan was barely crisped (amateur at the tandoor?) and the kitchen must have been working in a ghee shortage since my naans came out with a depressingly minute amount of this delicious fat. Oh, and to top it all off there was no Peshwari naan on the menu... A personal disappointment for my palette and something I didn't even factor into the review (that would make it 1 star).

India house is quickly becoming one of my favorite Indian restaurants in Jacksonville. I really like two others as well and all happen to be on Baymeadows. India House is a little different though. There are a few TV's but no massive screens that take up the wall so it feels a little more quaint. I love Indian music videos but other times I also want to have a conversation. The decor is nice, a tad dated but honestly I kind of like it. The service is great. I have never had a wait and am greeted within a moment of walking in the door. After you are given your menus, you are brought water and a little snack. The waiters have been very friendly and kind. The food is excellent! I am a lamb lover so I get lamb dishes and theirs is always incredibly tender and scrumptious:) The naan is good. I really like their garlic coriander naan and I think it has become my favorite Naan in Jax. Once you are done they are great about giving you boxes to take extras home. They then bring you a warm towel to wipe your hands (nice touch) Overall they have great food, great service, great prices and are conveniently located. I will definitely be back for more!!!

It's been three years since I have had the luxury of dinner at an Indian restaurant. To be honest with you, I moved from the DC area, and I was afraid places here would fall flat. But India House did not disappoint. The food was incredible; the service was friendly and attentive. I had the chicken curry with a side of naan. My husband had the chicken biryani. The little ones split an order of chicken tikka. Everyone loved their food, and the portions were generous. I can't call it the best Indian in Jacksonville because it's the only Indian I've had here, but you can bet I'll be back. Repeatedly. And try all their other dishes, too. And take home boxes of the extra to devour eagerly over Shah Rukh Khan music videos.

I absolutely love Indian food, and India House didn't let us down. The customer service was fantastic - the waiter was very friendly and gave great meal suggestions. We ended up ordering butter chicken ( and the paneer vegetarian version ) and it was the BEST we have had so far in Jacksonville. Since we ordered the mild, there was just enough spice and an abundance of flavor. The meal size gave us plenty for leftovers too. All in all, this was well worth the trek to Southside! :)

I definitely recommend requesting a menu and getting cook-to-order instead of doing the buffet if you have the time. So. Darn. Fresh. So. Darn. Good. 5 of us came here and split two Indian sampler platters. It took an hour for them to cook it.. so be prepared... but overall worth the wait. I couldnt tell you what was on the sampler platter, but it was all DELICIOUS and the perfect amount + 3 to-go boxes. You can choose vegetarian/nonvegetarian platter and the level of spice. best of all ... only 8.50 cents a person when you split the bill. Cant beat that!!!! This food was on fleek !!!

Visited this place on back to back weeks. There are probably about 5 or more Indian restaurants within a 3-mile stretch of Baymeadows Road and India House is by far my favorite. They bring you their version of complimentary chips and salsa called papad. The chips are paper thin, but so good. On the menu, I've ordered and very much enjoyed the Chicken curry, House mix grill sizzler, and Maharaja Thali. The Majaraja Thali is a sampler of their popular dishes. Awesome chicken tandoori! The service was great! Even the owner checked on us to see how everything went. He also brought us hot towels at the end of our meal to wipe off our hands. Nice touch! They have lunch buffet on weekdays for $7.95 and all day on the weekends for $9.95. Great price for a great Indian food. Try it! You won't be disappointed.

Love it! We have always come to the lunch buffet which has lots of nice choices. Tonight we did dinner. Outstanding! We ordered the king plate. We got a platter full of veg and meat dishes, rice, soup, naan, Chai tea, and a small dessert. It was plenty to share with food left over. It was fresh and flavorful .

Tried Indian food during my stay in Jacksonville. After reding the reviews, I was hyped about this place. Thankfully my fellow yelpers were right! This place is amazing and the prices aren't that bad! I definitely left content and with a couple extra calories.

India House serves some good Indian dishes and their weekdays lunch buffet is a good way to get a taste of everything at a very inexpensive price of $7.99. Weekends buffet are little expensive but may contain few more items. Went there with a work group of seven and all of them seem to have a favorable view of the food and service experience. It has good selection even for Vegetarians. The South Indian items like Idli, vada was good but the sambar was somewhat thick and average. The paneer saag was tasty and so was the daal and aalu curry. The mushroom mutter was alright and also had nice and lightly sauteed broccoli. The naan was fresh and light buttered and was good match for tikki masala gravy or goat curry gravy. The chicken tikki masala was alright but goat curry was superb. My friends seem to like the tandoori chicken but I thought it was just OK. Overall, it was a well balanced buffet with mild level of spiciness. The buffet also include dessert items of rasmalai and kheer. You could also get a masala chai but was too full to try it. You can also order the Nepalese Momo (dumplings) but may not be available always. The service was attentive, a little more than necessary as they were too enthusiastic to remove the plates that weren't even finished and one thing I had a qualm was that they didn't ask if we would like any drinks at the start. The place is clean and set well with nice table clothes and cutlery. The ambiance and music provide a good setting for you to enjoy the Indian food. They do have a small outdoor seating area too. India house does really well to bring a good dining experience for Indian food lovers to the Jacksonville area.

Wow what a different experience! I came into India house after a TERRRRRRRIIIBBBLLLLEEEE experience at masala Indian cuisine on San Jose. The service was AMAZING!!!!! So helpful and polite. They helped me with my sons high chair and helped me because I had him and my items in my hand. Quick with the drinks and checking on me without being overly in your face. He was so helpful and assisted me with the menu. He gave me his opinion of entrees and i got what he suggested, which was delicious! I never worried about my drink not being filled. I wanted to try sauces but didn't know the names and he brought more. His name is Sudar. He seemed to be the only server and there was like 15 tables. He was fantastic!!! He was attentive to me and everyone around him. I was even more so looking at the service based on the terrible service i just received at masala. Would absolutely return. Would absolutely recommend. And sit with Sudar if he's working! He's great. This is my new Indian place in town. I'll be sure to tell all of my friends and family!

This was my first visit to the restaurant. The interior is nice, the lighting is dim, and it smells delicious walking in the door. The lunch buffet has a good selection of standard Indian fare. Everything I tried was excellent. The temperatures were appropriate on everything and everything tasted completely fresh. The mint chutney sauce was particularly delicious and I don't normally like that sauce. The Sag paneer was awesome. I will be back every time I am on this side of town. Well worth the money. $10.60 buffet and iced tea.

We checked this place out since I had a Groupon. It's our first Indian experience in Jacksonville. We both love Indian food and we're excited to check this place out. That being said, I'm quickly losing hope in finding amazing authentic food in this city. The service was great; the servers were attentive. The chutneys were ok. The basmati rice that was served with the entrees were a tad cold and a little bit dried - not the fluffy consistency with fresh warm basmati rice. The chicken vindaloo and samosas were good, but not awesome. My husband ordered two vegetarian dishes - he thought they were ok. A plus is that they don't use dairy products (cream or yogurt) in most of their vegetarian dishes, so the husband had a lot of choices instead of only 2-3 dishes. We will come back and check it out again, to see if it was just an off night.

As far as Indian food goes, I'm no expert on authenticity, but this place is good. We probably go to Masala the most and usually count it as our favorite. I now think maybe they just offer slightly different options but both are as good (we usually go to the buffet).

Omg this place is awesome ! Its been a long time since I had good Indian buffet. The last time I had out of this works experience was in Nairobi Kenya. At first I was skeptical. I have been to few Indian buffet in Orlando and Daytona and it wasn't that great. It was almost like... They were stingy in adding more spice in the food. Not to mention, the parking lot was pretty empty at the time. And the price is $8 for lunch buffet???? Really ???? I went in with my family anyways. It was awesome ! The food was fresh, great balance in meat and vedge combination , most importantly they weren't stingy in spice ! Staff was super friendly. ( the other place I went they looked mean....) Came by to have small talk with us, and brought us fresh naan to the table. Did I mention it was only $8 for lunch ? Awwweeeesoooome!!!! Will defiantly go again !!!!!

We had just moved into our house in Jacksonville and had been through the wringer. The delivery option and ordering online were both too good to be true! Wonderful! This food brought us back to life--very fresh and flavorful. We had cucumber salad, garden salad, and chicken korma with regular naan. All was very well prepared and packaged for delivery and arrived promptly via a delivery service.

We stopped off here on the way to Orlando. It is definitely going to be a favorite stop. Their chicken soup is the best we have ever had. We also had the maharajah thali which had a sampling of several dishes. Butter Chicken was excellent as were the appetizers of samosa and aloo poori. There was a big party ahead of us so we had a bit of a wait. Worth every minute. Definitely recommend!!

This is my go to place for curry. I live most of the year in northern Wyoming and when I come down to Jacksonville this is one of the first places I hit. I like my curry spicy and my naan hot. This place does it right every time. Their buffet is good, but I prefer to order off the menu for the freshest, hottest meal. Time flys! It has been 15 years since my trip to India, and this place reminds me a lot of that trip (the good parts of it!)

This place is great!!! I haven't been able to find good Indian food anywhere so I was worried about driving 35 minutes for this place. Was worth it haven't had such good flavorful curry since I was in Singapore Indian district. This place is worth the drive and time

Had the vegetarian sampler and loved it! Enough food for 2 people. Friendly service. Wish they would open a branch at the beach!

I went to this restaurant after a few arabic friends of my told me to check it out. The first thing I realized once I walked in was how hot it is in there. I assume leaving the air condition off saves money overall, but some customer who sweat easily may not enjoy this place for that very reason. Another thing that I realized about the restaurant was the hours on the door. Before you go there, you should really check to see what time they are exactly open on that day since they are not opened constantly throughout the day. Now, the food. The food at the lunch hour is a buffet. I was skeptical of India buffets because of my bad experience with them. However, I can see where the place puts it money. The food was amazing. Absolutely amazing! The food tasted fresh and authentic. The Chicken Tikka Masala was my favorite. It was loaded with seasons and chicken. At some Indian buffets, customers have to dive into the sauce to find the chicken meat.... oh no! Not this place. They put ample chicken meat for everyone. The Naan was super yummy! I could have just eaten just that and been happy! The Biryani was good too! This place is by far my favorite buffet Indian food place for the food. The customer service is good as well. The hostess was super friendly and my glass was always getting filled with a smile. I truly enjoyed the environment. It was friendly and not too noisy. The only drawback is the air conditioning. On a hot summer day, this place would not be my first choice. On cold days, I would naturally gravitate to this place.

Wow!!! This by far was THE BEST INDIAN FOOD that I have had in Florida! The medium chix curry my hubby demolished! I had the Chicken Tikka masala, melt in your mouth tasty, delish oh my a little taste of heaven. Pair that with the Garlic Nann.... Yummmm we were supposed to be on a diet and hubby was not supposed to eat carbs but he did. The only little thing I ordered lamb samosas for an appetizer it came out with the meal, I was ambivalent I though the oil that they were fried in needed to be changed, makes sense I'm sure they do a booming business. My hubby loved them all in all it was great wait the best part the bill was under $60 with drinks!!! Well 10 's!

Just a superb experience. Perfect blends of spices, textures, freshness and tastes. Among the best we've had. Great staff too. Can't say enough.

Everything in my previous review regarding food quality and value is spot on, but since my first review i've been to India House another three or four times. I noticed that the service can sometimes be quite bad. We found that our servers rarely attend us very well. To get more water, or to place another order for naan, for instance, requires walking around trying to find one's waiter. This can be excused at sometimes, but one occasion compelled me to update my review and take a star off. These service miscarriages seem to always correspond to private parties at the restaurant; large Indian private parties seem to receive significant preference over other diners. We arrived and were promptly seated one night. After placing an order our waitress vanished for 45 minutes, and we received no water. I had to hunt down my waitress, she assured me that my food was coming out shortly. We received our soup, which was the wrong soup and was cold. Another 30 minutes passed, and still no word on what was going on. No one on our side of the restaurant had food, and several parties walked out. 15 minutes later we walked out without paying. Funny enough when we arrived at 5th element down the street (which is new "go to" Indian place) we noticed two other parties which had abandoned India House and we shared a good laugh. Since then i've been there once again, and the service was OK - but again not good. The OK/borderline service would probably be offset by the exceptional food of India House if not for the situation I just described. If the service gets tweaked i'll push this review back up to 5.

Awesome indian food. We came here for buffet on a sat morning and the number of options were countless. Lots of desserts too!!. Food taste great too.

Highly recommend! Enormous portions, delicious food, attentive staff, and a hot towel to end the meal. One entree can feed 2.5 people. These guys do it right!

One of the customers at our restaurant suggested this place and what an awesome suggestion! Tried the buffet and all the curries are very very good. My favorite is the lamb curry very well done I would suggest this restaurant to anyone

Great Food, great service, decent atmosphere. I like Indian and it met my expectations. Spicy hot might need to be a little hotter, but all the best flavors we're there on a good number of affordable dishes. Clean and modest dining space.
This was my first time trying Indian food. The only thing I have ever heard is that it's really spicy. So, I was expecting to have my tastebuds destroyed, my children and I Yelped India House along with many other places. We drove from Georgia just to enjoy something different and were not disappointed. The Naan was to die for, not sure what the chip type bread was but it was unique and my children loved the blueberry type sauce. I ordered the Maharajah plate and my head almost exploded. There was such complexity in the food I literally overloaded my tastebuds. My eldest daughter ordered Lamb curry she loved it, but was just sad that "they killed a poor little lamb for such delicious food". My middle child just couldn't stop telling all her friends what she had although I didn't know. All in all this place is Epic, I recently had to be fitted for a tux at Men's warehouse in River city. I made it a point to drive (what felt like 45 minutes) all the way to Baymeadows road just to get to go at India house. By the way the pistachio Kulfi...speechless.

My husband and I went here when we were staying in Jacksonville overnight on our way to Miami. We both have an Indian food addiction and it was really close to our hotel so we decided to check it out. He had the non vegetarian thali and I had the vegetarian thail. Everything was delicious, the portions were huge, and we had great service. The only thing I can complain about is that it was extremely cold in the restaurant and we had to eat with our coats on. Even so, I'll definitely return if I'm ever in the area again.

Not a big indian food fan although I don't mind the food I just don't eat it a lot. This place is good. Cheap lunch buffet with some solid food. Check it out. The cheese balls are sooooooo good. Really though this place is good. Give it a try.

Absolutely impressive! Chicken Korma with rice and cheese naan is my go to Indian choice every single time, and I was very impressed with their version of it. Creamy, perfectly spiced and simply delicious. I will definitely come back! I am going to try their $8 lunch buffet so I can sample all the great stuff I'm missing out on.

My mother's co-worker (who is Indian) introduced her to India House and she absolutely loved it. So when I offered to take her to lunch for her birthday, this was her first choice. The area is busy (especially at lunch time) but the restaurant itself wasn't crazy busy. The service was okay, our waiter was very soft spoken (my mother and I are not) and because we're weren't sure of the procedure (we saw people go up the counter to pay but he brought us our check for example), we were kinda of confused throughout. The food, though, was great. I'm normally very wary of buffets and when we first arrived the buffet was rather sparse and I was a bitter concerned. The second time we went up, everything was refilled, piping hot, and very tasty. We also loved the naan, super buttery and yummy. I paid about $17 (pre-tip) for lunch for 2, which is a great price for the amount of items we got to taste. The location isn't super convenient for me but I will be back.

This is my first review because there has not been a restaurant that has made me want to yell about them before before now. Stopped in last night for dinner with my home crew. This restaurant rocks all the way around. Service was spot on and the food was excellent. This is a must for Indian food.

Went there last night with my son. This was our second time. The first time the entire experience was pretty good. This time , while the food was decent, the service was very poor. The staff was less than courteous and repeatedly displayed a "don't care " attitude. So this place is off my list at least for a while. If you're willing to put up with poor service & less than acceptable attitude, the food is decent. However, this time around, the overall experience was rather poor.

Walked in to this place and BAM! I was hit in the face with all sorts of delicious smells and it was totally awesome. The service was great and the food was so, so, soooo good. We ordered the lamb curry and king's meal. Everything came out hot and delicious. The naan bread was fantastic. They give you chips and some dips as an appetizer and that was also very good. I already can't wait to go back and try everything else on the menu!

The chicken tiki masala is the best I've ever had. They serve good portions and have a large variety of authentic Indian food. Out of the 6 local Indian places in SE Jacksonville, this has the best food by far.
(5)
Chuck H.
I just got take out. This place is amazing. I had the House Special Nann, Lamb Saag, and Samosas. The Naan is baked with a little sugar and coconut, so when you eat it with a spicy entree the flavors are sooo goooood! This is Indian home cooking at its best Home Slice! Hit this place up if you need a flavor explosion, then dance party (probably a Pasodoble) in your mouth!

I have been a frequent guest at all three of the major indian restaurants in Jax (India House, 5th Element and India's Restaurant) and this one is definitely the best. The food is fresh. The staff is courteous and attentive. The weekend desserts are on point. The restaurant setting (compared to the other two restaurants) is more relaxing and never overcrowded, unlike 5th Element. If you don't eat meat, like me, then this place has the best options for veggie dishes. Don't get me wrong, they have plenty of meats as well. The variety on a daily basis is mind shattering. The buffet prices are all pretty comparable between the three restaurants with India's Restaurant being the cheapest. That being said, if you're looking for the highest quality indian food in Jax, hit up India House. You won't regret it.

We have been wanting Indian food for a LONG time and my friend and I finally went for it. We went on a Saturday and opted for the lunch buffet, so that we could try a little bit of everything, which I think is probably the best way to really introduce yourself to Indian food if you're not familiar. Everything was VERY good tasting. The servers and hostess were all very nice and attentive with your beverages and such. The only complaint that we both had is that the buffet food wasn't hot at all really (temperature wise). Nearly on the verge of cold actually. I think the food would have been even better hot. In fact I know it was because we went back for more Panteer and a new hot batch came out, and it was heaven! To be expected with buffets maybe, but I'll just order a meal next time.

I was contemplating a dreaded "bad" review when I got here for lunch today. Service started out poorly, but by the end of our meet, I decided that this place has a lot to offer. The food was fantastic--especially for a buffet (which I am not normally a huge fan of--and the service picked up eventually. I am looking forward to coming back for dinner in the near future, and recommend that you come here for lunch.

(5)
Valerian L.
It's pretty good. They always nail spice and the salted lassi is to die for. However the food isn't quite like the real deal. Having actually been to India I can tell you that some options have been americanised. If I had to rate for authenticity I would say that the style leans closer to North Indian cuisine than the south (which I like more) and it's probably best to go here for the Tandoori Chicken and Naan.

Jennifer M.
I'm a vegetarian so I loved all of the available options. My boyfriend and I each had the King and Queen platters. One veg and one not. It's a sampling of many different items with rice and naan. We had soooo much delicious food we had to take it home and it was terrific the next day too. The service was excellent. Very sweet people and attentive to us. Will definitely return!

Brentley S.
This may be my new favorite Indian lunch buffet. While there are several great ones on Baymeadows this location brings the naan to your table...meaning FRESH, HOT, BUTTERY, FLAKY NAAN!!! Which is always very much a YES. They had a nice selection of veggie dishes including Aloo Golbi, and a few Dal dishes They had curry chicken & goat, tikka masala and butter chicken which were good as well. I can't stress the naan enough though!
(5)
Nikhil M.
Tried the afternoon buffet. Tried only the vegetarian food and hence the review is purely based on a vegetarian experience. First of all - hardly any choices for the veggies. Second- There was no great taste to the food. Third..The food was just not hot...I know it was a buffet and we were probably the last ones to eat there...yet you would except hot food. The service was ok. Quite a big restaurant though with enough seating space

Very pleasant experience! My husband and I had the lunch buffet. Good size selection. Everything was delish including HOT freshly made Naan! I recommend the cheeseballs in syrup (sweet treat). Very friendly service. I felt as though we were guests in their home! Peaceful, non-chaotic atmosphere unlike most restaurants. Will be returning :)

Not the best Indian restaurant in Florida. Probably the worst. Biryani is so bad cheese pizza feels spicier than it. Probably a good place for lunch buffet. Bad for south indians

Super good! Tons of choices. Had the fish (mild) masala - so creamy and tasty. Looking forward to trying more on the menu and checking out their lunch buffet! I as well saw a large group of Indian people come in and that is a good indicator that the food is authentic. Staff is super friendly!
(5)
Howard F.
I've had hundreds, maybe thousands of Indian meals in my lifetime. This was phenomenal. I asked for everything mild and that's exactly what they gave me. Fresh, delicious and authentic. Naan was excellent too.
(5)
Bill U.
Thought the food was excellent. The eggplant with spicy yogurt sauce was perfectly blended and the dish had the right balance. The kings combination dinner had a multitude of tasting of options. The chicken tandoori and lb curry were average representations of standard Indian fare. The lemon rice was great. Naan was served piping hot and melted in your mouth.
(4)
Jeff M.
My wife and I went here for the lunch buffet. The food and service were all excellent. The variety of vegetarian food was great and several meat dishes were available. The naan was very fresh and tasted great.
So incredibly disappointed in the food as well as the service. We ordered masala dosa and vadas and both dishes were under salted and the flavor was simply off. The service was lackluster as well. There were three waiters and a different server came to our table at various times to take our order, drop off food and refill our water glasses. Additionally, we had to wait a full 15 mins it's after the meal for our waiter to pick up our payment even though we were only one of three couples in the almost empty restaurant. The only plus was the chili shrimp that we got to go. The shrimp was spicy and seasoned well.

Went there yesterday for the first time with a group from work. I was a little hesitant as I don't eat a lot of Indian food, but boy was I surprised. The buffet had so many items to choose from and everything was fresh and hot. My new favorite is the curry chicken. It just tastes better than what I've tried making at home. I'll be back again for sure.
(4)
C M.
Hands down the best Indian food in Jax, coming from an Indian. The buffet has a large selection. The goat curry is my favorite dish. I also love that they offer free chai with the buffet. The garlic naan is AMAZING, and free! Would definitely recommend, I take my parents there every time they visit.

Love Indian food... saw this place while driving down Baymeadows one day and finally got a chance to pop in over the weekend. The have a lunch buffet Mon-Fri and on the weekends, they call it a "Grand buffet". I'm not sure what the difference was but I can say it was indeed "grand"! The place was nice and clean; service was really good; the buffet was well-stocked and replenished; the food.... very tasty! Another thing I liked (unlike most Chinese buffets) is that they not only labeled each dish but they described it and told the ingredients.... Thanks for that! They also have a (very) full menu, other than the buffet. So if you are a fan of Indian cuisine, this is a great spot! Oh and don't forget to grab a nice cup of hot Chai Tea on the way out :)

Elizabeth M.
Don't let the name of this place fool you! Just because its name is not very original doesn't mean their food is not good. I came here with my sister, bf and daughter and even my daughter ate the food and she is only 1.5! The lunch buffet stayed competitive with the rest of the Indian buffets on baymeadows but what really won me over was that they bring the naan bread fresh to your table! Now this can be a good and bad thing because if your like me, then they can't bring the bread out fast enough. That was really my only complaints. The gulab jamoon(sp?) was delicious as well. Overall I will def be going back to this place.
(4)
Kevin W.
The Naan is very good, not quite the same as most Indian places. The Butter Chicken was Exceptional.
(5)
Heather K.
I went here today for the lunch buffet. My fave is the chicken tikka masala. The only thing is I would've liked it spicier but I understand they are putting it on the buffet so have to make it mild. Naan is the best I've had. Great service.

So we decided to go here after drooling over the yelp pictures. I noticed the mixed bag reviews and decided to see how it's like. Coming from California, I'm quite familiar with a lot of these dishes and am discerning about this cuisine. Straight off the bat I knew what I wanted to order, the nonveg thali! Like my husband said after we both ordered it, it's like having your personal buffet! I was hesitant on whether the spice levels we can choose from would really be mild. This dish had all my favorite dishes! Began with paupers (a lentil fried crispy snack), a yellow lentil I think soup (I've never been in to this and so thought it was okay). Then came what we were waiting for!! The trays of thali-omg!!! Small yet (not tiny) plentiful bowls of smoked eggplant dish, daal makhni (yummmmmmmm!!!), tandoori chicken pieces, seekh kabob (ground meat), saag with paneer (spinach rather than true mustard), raita (oh hey!! Yogurt sauce with onions and cucumbers), chicken tikka masala, lamb curry, glaub jaman (pancake ball in syrup dessert), meat samosa (not sure which oil/butter they basted it with but you will smack your lips!), rice and delish naans!! All together you get some of my fave dishes and beyond a complete meal. I couldn't finish half of it so I would suggest sharing with a friend. Oh, btw, total bargain price!! I didn't expect I would enjoy my meal so much so I was beyond overjoyed!! Truly mild! Not oily! Very flavorful! (I put a little salt Bc I like it that way) I asked where the chef was from and was told from Nepal! Truly delish..the best Indian place ever! It puts a lot of other Indian foods in the fast food category. Their menu is also truly vast..showcases the wide spectrum of ethnic cuisine of that continent. Veggie, nonveggie, non-Indian, mixed Asian, traditional Indian and modern inventions like the tandoori chicken naans. I've been to places that make it but turned out a disaster..theirs wassssss so good and with plenty bites of embedded chicken! Like my husband said like a naan pizza. ;) The resume of the chef (on the menu) and all the plaque of awards truly speak for the food. At first I thought the elder Indian lady was exaggerating how good the place is but afterwards I could not stop gushing!! Thank you, India house!!! :) Ps I forgot to mention that the courtesy hot napkins were a nice surprising touch esp if you eat with your hands/naan! My chai was cardamomy and slightly textured.

Second visit much better than the first. Lunch buffet both times. First visit did not have any "heat". Today the spice level was light but much better than the first. Will be back.

We were happy to find this place open on Christmas day when most of the other places were closed. We walked into this restaurant which was smelling very good with indian food flavors. We ordered masala dosa n lassi. The lassi was fine but it was one of the worst masala dosas I've ever had. It was hard to accept that even the sambar and chutney were totally tasteless. I'm not sure if the restaurant doesn't specialise in south indian food, but if you are looking for authentic south indian food, then this is not the place. Two stars for just having this place open on a holiday.

Excellent food. The quality and quantity you get here for the price is unmatched. I have been here twice now and absolutely adore it! If you're in the mood for some excellent Indian food go here. You will not be disappointed.

Ok, here goes my very 1st yelp review. LOL! I went for the lunch buffet just a few hours ago. In summary, I found it to be just ok. The building was larger than I imagined and the interior was nice, neat, and clean - above average. I had been craving this since last week after reading so many reviews on this & various other Indian restaurants in the area. By no means am I an expert on this type of cuisine but I have had it before (in D.C - better than here. & Norfolk, VA - not better than here) but was a first here. The patronage was mixed but appeared to be mostly of Indian or Pakistani decent. The overall experience was just ok to me (Food & service especially, which are the 2 most important components). Overall the food was a bit milder than I imagined but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Upon arrival (around 1pm), it took a little while to get seated...a bit long based upon the capacity which was less than 25%..so not crowded. When the wait person came, he handed me water and kept walking...didn't ask what I wanted to drink though that was what I wanted...I had to stop him and ask could I just go to the buffet to which he said yes...I found this a lil odd though he was not rude. It took quite a while to receive Naan but it appeared fresh when received. I sampled quite a # of meat dishes including (Chicken & goat curry, Tandoori chicken, chicken marsala, chicken ban***(chik & rice dish)...of these the chicken marsala was the tastiest/best/most flavorful. All the chicken dishes, except and chick ban** appeared to be made from processed chicken cubes and therefore a lil dry and not seasoned throughout the way I'd prefer....which is is why I rate it as just ok (not good, not bad, just average/ok). I also tried some veggie dishes including a lentil dish, broccoli marsala, a potato dish (ah-ling**?), a lentil based soup, and a veggie curry (I think - may have been a marsala dish...which was the best of the veggie dishes)....again, just ok overall...the veggie curry and brocoli dishes were pretty good. I ended the meal with a rice based desert (it listed having raisins and something else that I just realized were not in the dish) and a cheese ball flavored in syrup...my apologies for not remembering the names...anywho both were ok...the cheese ball was sweeter. Then I had some Chai tea...nothing to rave about but it was tasty and different from any tea I had before (I'm wondering was to merely a mint tea with milk added). At 1 point (around 2pm ish) some dishes were empty and another patron inquired about if more was coming. They were filled. All things considered, I think it is worth the price for a buffet & this type of cuisine but not for the 40+ mile round trip that I took. Hmm, the taste/flavor remains 4+ hours later which I think is good. I would go again but only if I'm in the area or have other business near. I plan to try the 5th Element and Flavors at some point.

Food was great got the samoa chat appetizer was good and the sagg panner, chicken tikka masala and naan. All very good. Service was good very attentive. Will definitely be visiting here again

Food was great but service was bad. However I am still giving it 4 stars. I ordered the coconut soup, lamb vindaloo, special naan, and mango lassi. All were very delicious. Prices were similar to all Indian restaurants that I've been too. Be aware the service is terrible. Nearly 1 hour went by from order to receiving entree and naan, and the soup came sometime in between. The servers would barely look our way or stop by to check on water. It took nearly 15 minutes to check out. Be aggressive with the wait staff or plan to spend 3 hours here.
The incredible aroma that greeted me when I first walked in was a sign that I was in for a special experience. Their version of chips and dip (3 sauces) was served complimentary and was really good! I had the lentil soup which had delightful pieces of cilantro in it. For my entree I had the chicken tikka and was impressed with how tender the chicken was. I highly recommend this place!

Went to dinner on a Sunday evening and the service was painfully slow. Tried to order multiple menu items but they where unavailable. The server was not knowledgeable of the menu and would walk off in the middle of order to ask someone questions. It took 45 minutes to receive our appetizers. For the price you would expect much better service. The food however once received was good. I personally like a well rounded dining experience. It took 2.5 hours to dine. I would return only to try the lunch buffet when the food is already prepared.

I hit the trifecta with this restaurant. It's inexpensive, the staff is super friendly and the food is delicious. I frequent the lunch buffet and have never been disappointed. Just love the warm naan with mint chutney and the chicken masala...but I always try a bit of everything. Yum!

My first time here after reading reviews on Yelp. Would definitely go back. Had the lunch buffet. Found the selection good. It wasn't a super buffet so it didn't have a bunch of items that aren't Indian. Since I don't each much Indian I tried a little of each. Some weren't for me but did love the chicken masala, tandoori, and the naan. My wife loves a dish that had eggplant in it. We will definitely go back.
(4)
Roy M.
We really enjoyed the food only problem is maybe we ordered wrong dishes they were all to sweet for my taste, we also asked for spicy it was not spicy I can handle the fire, I will return and try it again I would just ask for no creamy sweet plates. The rice was very good and so was the naan. The owner greeted us and helped us order it's my guess most Americans like the sweet dishes. Next time I will order what any other Indian has at next table,

Worth every penny. Was surprised to see empty seats on weekends! Maybe the service was extra courteous for that reason. Ask for special breads apart from Naan which are extra ordinary. Desserts are kinda okay and caution for the ones concerned with sweets. Extra sugary indeed. USP is for the variety in North and South Indian varieties in food. I don't think others concentrate on both. Give it a try and you'll enjoy the feast.

This place is not allowed to move, shut down, go out of business, etc. Best Indian food I've had in Jax. Beats many Indian restaurants in LA (my previous city of residence). Food served piping hot, highly flavorful. Generous portions. Got lamb bhuna and chicken tikka masala. Excellent! Garlic coriander naan was amazing too. As a fun side note, the owner of the restaurant has an extensive resume of great Indian restaurants in various large US cities. Yet another good sign. Overall, go get some!

It was my first time trying Indian foods ever so I was really excited about this place because of all the good reviews. I went with my friends on a Friday afternoon so we had the $7.95 lunch buffet. One thing I was not used to was the smell when I walked in. I'm not sure if all Indian restaurant have this scent but I did not find it very pleasing. I was able to put it with that since I really wanted to try the foods. The buffet table had more than what I expected, I tried a little bit of everything. I enjoyed all the chicken curry and tandoori (not sure of the spelling) and lamb curry the most. The best thing that will give me a reason to try Indian foods a second time would be the bread. It's was so yummmy!!! Especially dipping it in curry sauce, it could be addicting! There are few other Indian restaurants around that area so I might try a different one next time, but I'll definitely be back for that Naan bread!!!

S.O decided to take me to try this highly recommended place. Unbeknownst to us they close at 2.30, we came at 2.15. I asked if they were still accepting customers. Seeing that they were vacuuming, I thought they'd say no but the gentlemen reassured me we were welcomed. The food was just as good as if we'd came during lunch hr. The waiters didn't rush us, they even brought out fresh naan bread for us. The buffet had many options equal to that of the other Indian buffets in Jax. Their curry goat was very tender. The veggie masala I ate was very flavorful. Plus the other dishes (in a rush to get back to eating I didn't read the names) were so richly flavored. Oh so yummy! My digestive enzymes are getting worked up as I'm typing this review at 2.30 in the morning. Definitely checking them out mañana! Hoping to give them a five star rating if everything is consistently as good as my first encounter. Don't just sit there living vicariously through my review, go check them out, NOW!!!

Decent selection but I only had two of the chicken options, along with the salad. Service was very slow and a bit aloof. Pricing seemed reasonable if a person was going to take advantage of the entire selection of foods.

India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.
Indian food has gained reputation all over the world especially in the United States. You can find many places serving the appetizing Indian food across all major cities in the US. India is a diverse country with different food culture originated from different parts of the country. While the Northern region boasts tandoori dishes and korma offering royal taste, the Western Ghats offers sea foods that is made in naturally sweet tender coconut milk. The South Indian food servers a quality of different dishes made from rice accompanied with spicy chutneys, curries and famous sambhar. Also, the Indian sweets are a delight to relish. If you ever want to have a burst of sugar syrup in mouth, don't forget to try few Bengali Sweets. Be it spicy, tangy, or sweet flavor, you can find everything in the Indian cuisine. Be assured that the melody of spices will surely bring delight to you.

(4)Jonathan K.

(5)Gordon N.
Food was good, service was terrible. We waited over 30 min to be served lunch. We ordered from the menu rather than the buffet.
(3)Linda C.
Top of the charts for me! Tried the maharajah non-vegetarian and was pleasantly surprised. A great way to sample several dishes at one sitting. No disappointment for me.
(4)Glen C.
(4)Oly C.
(5)John S.
Solidly good and very reasonably priced lunch buffet. Plenty of choices and fresh salad. Naan didn't look very fresh on the day I visited, so I passed, but everything else was very good and you can't beat $6.99!
(3)Rich C.
Very good Indian food with a nice selection on the menu. I come here each year the night before the Jacksonville Bank Marathon and they always take care of me and my friends. I suggest the Chicken Korma and Chicken Saag. Very good!
(4)Miss P.
Good place, prompt service. Will return when I'm back in the area. Visited in September 2012.
(5)Thais A.
Authentic Indian food! Stopped by for a quick bite one night and had the tandoori chicken. So much flavor and huge portions. I can't wait to come back for lunch when they have their buffet specials. If you like Indian food-- this is the place for you. And there were tons of Indian people dinning there!
(5)Todd A.
(2)Ryan D.
(5)Ophelia B.
Excellent lunch on Sunday. Don't go to this place RUN to it. You either love Indian food or don't. This is one of the best Indian food experiences I have ever had.
(5)Amber A.
(4)Alyssa W.
(5)Big D.
I share the positive experience of other Yelp reviewers. I ordered Chicken Korma and it was one of the best I've ever had. This is a quality place.
(5)Rebecca P.
The food is delicious! The place is clean and the staff is friendly.
(4)Sara G.
(4)Jonathan E.
(5)John D.
(3)Benjamin W.
Food is very good, the lunch buffet is hot, the service is friendly, and the prices are very reasonable.

(5)Mandi M.
(4)Kaitlin C.
Wow! Just....
(5)Joseph G.
(5)Lisa S.
Great food but service is a little hit or miss. Definitely worth giving it a try!
(3)Raj C.

(5)Olivia T.
(5)Terri P.
Very good food best Indian food in Jacksonville. I highly recommend this restaurant :)
(5)Juan G.
(5)R C.
We ordered Kandahi chicken and Tandoori chicken. Both dishes were wonderful. The Kandahi was the best Indian dinner i ever had. Very nice restaurant, good service and excellent food.
(5)Il P.
I had a sunday lunch buffet. The food is not bad, and quite a variety of dishes were available. Goat curry to Sambar. Some curries had too much cream/butter but overall pretty good.
(4)Susan A.
(5)Matt A.
Second best Indian buffet in Jacksonville. Excellent. (First is 5th element.)

Visited in November and the food was excellent!
(5)Helen W.
(5)Patty D.
Well done!
(5)Ben H.
BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT IN TOWN!. Amazing, delicious! This restaurant always makes you feel like you're at home. I definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone. Try them out for yourself. :)
(5)Memo M.
The buffet is awesomely delicious This place is one of the best of Indian restaurants in a buffet almost $8 for it
(5)Mike M.

(5)Laura M.
(5)Emily S.
(4)Margaret F.
(5)Jimmy P.
(5)Shelley S.
(5)Kathy M.
Tried Indian food during my stay in Jacksonville. After reding the reviews, I was hyped about this place. Thankfully my fellow yelpers were right! This place is amazing and the prices aren't that bad! I definitely left content and with a couple extra calories.
(4)D'man D.
(4)Justin D.
After living in Asia I was spoiled by the food, particularly the authentic Indian food. This is the best restaurant I've found for Indian food since I've been back. I was especially surprised to find it in Jacksonville.
(5)Stacy L.
(5)Susan P.

I marked this low by accident, then I realized that I reviewed the wrong place, so I'll give it all stars in hopes that when I do come, they give me better service than the 5th element
(5)Jeremy K.

(5)Richelle S.
(5)Deepanshu B.
I was in Jax for a short stay... 3 days in a line ordered for delivery from india house...the food was simple delicious .. they did took care of the special instructions tagged with each item I ordered.... I can say... they have the best india food i ever had in states so far.. good job.
(5)Dave G.
(5)Johnna-Mae V.
This place is great!!! I haven't been able to find good Indian food anywhere so I was worried about driving 35 minutes for this place. Was worth it haven't had such good flavorful curry since I was in Singapore Indian district. This place is worth the drive and time
(5)Heather D.

(3)Wendy W.
Well 10 's!
(5)Gregg R.
Just a superb experience. Perfect blends of spices, textures, freshness and tastes. Among the best we've had. Great staff too. Can't say enough.
(5)Chris K.
(3)Gagan G.
Awesome indian food. We came here for buffet on a sat morning and the number of options were countless. Lots of desserts too!!. Food taste great too.
(5)Cody T.
Highly recommend! Enormous portions, delicious food, attentive staff, and a hot towel to end the meal. One entree can feed 2.5 people. These guys do it right!
(5)Terry N.
One of the customers at our restaurant suggested this place and what an awesome suggestion! Tried the buffet and all the curries are very very good. My favorite is the lamb curry very well done I would suggest this restaurant to anyone
(5)Alex P.
Great Food, great service, decent atmosphere. I like Indian and it met my expectations. Spicy hot might need to be a little hotter, but all the best flavors we're there on a good number of affordable dishes. Clean and modest dining space.
(5)Cate D.
Tried this place with a Groupon. Everything was well seasoned and prepared. I ordered the salted yogurt drink, and then our server brought a complimentary chick pea flat bread that was obviously freshly made with three bullets- one of a dark thin sauce, a green herbaceous mix, and some sort of red vegetable- and all were very good. We ordered the hot mixed appetizer for 2 (a huge portion- this could have been dinner for both of us!) and the mixed pickles. I LOVED the pickles- a bit spicy and very different taste and textures that we are used to here in the States. The mixed grill entrée we shared was very good as well- we tried a bit of everything and enjoyed it all. The appetizer and entrée still was way more food than we could eat and now luckily we have a lot of leftovers I can't wait to go back at lunch time to try the buffet!
(4)Domonic F.
(5)Tara C.
(4)Ryan H.
Not a big indian food fan although I don't mind the food I just don't eat it a lot. This place is good. Cheap lunch buffet with some solid food. Check it out. The cheese balls are sooooooo good. Really though this place is good. Give it a try.
(5)Sergio I.
(5)Kristina K.
(4)Swaroop M.
Wonderful food , nice ambience n one of the best service. Love the goat curry , n chicken butter masala. Will reccommend anyone who is looking for authenticate Indian food.
(5)Steve H.
This is my first review because there has not been a restaurant that has made me want to yell about them before before now. Stopped in last night for dinner with my home crew. This restaurant rocks all the way around. Service was spot on and the food was excellent. This is a must for Indian food.
(5)Amol K.
(2)Samantha M.
(5)Trevor C.
The chicken tiki masala is the best I've ever had. They serve good portions and have a large variety of authentic Indian food. Out of the 6 local Indian places in SE Jacksonville, this has the best food by far.
(5)Chuck H.
(5)B M.
(5)Roszetta D.
My favorite Indian restaurant... So, delish!!! I highly recommend this place. The food is great and the service is just as good.
(5)Needa H.
(4)Brian S.
(4)Meenu A.
Good service and food ;) So glad that we choose to drop by..price is a lit higher but worth spending On quality food
(5)Marina S.
I've tried several Indian restaurants and I simple love the food at India House and the service is excellent.
(5)Valerian L.
(3)Jennifer M.
(5)Brentley S.
(5)Nikhil M.
(2)Alyssa B.
(4)Sai Srivatsava V.
Not the best Indian restaurant in Florida. Probably the worst. Biryani is so bad cheese pizza feels spicier than it. Probably a good place for lunch buffet. Bad for south indians
(2)AddyOO H.
Super good! Tons of choices. Had the fish (mild) masala - so creamy and tasty. Looking forward to trying more on the menu and checking out their lunch buffet! I as well saw a large group of Indian people come in and that is a good indicator that the food is authentic. Staff is super friendly!
(5)Howard F.
I've had hundreds, maybe thousands of Indian meals in my lifetime. This was phenomenal. I asked for everything mild and that's exactly what they gave me. Fresh, delicious and authentic. Naan was excellent too.
(5)Bill U.
(4)Jeff M.
My wife and I went here for the lunch buffet. The food and service were all excellent. The variety of vegetarian food was great and several meat dishes were available. The naan was very fresh and tasted great.
(4)Lena C.
I am by far not an expert on Indian food, but guess what? I know deliciousness!! I also know enough to have an idea of what to order, and let me just tell you that I think this is the BEST Chicken Tikki Masala I have ever had!! Sadly, I was not there for the lunch buffet, but maybe that was for the best, because everything we ordered was prepared fresh and every bite was to die for. When you first are sat they bring out some crispy wheat bread (I forget the name) with Onion chutney, Mint chutney and the most wonderful Tamarind sauce. We ordered veggie and lamb samosas and promptly began to devour them with the sauces! Our entrées came out and were ginormous!! I was surprised, since the prices were so reasonable. We had the Chicken Tikki Marsala (as i said best ever!), Chili Chicken and the Lamb Vindaloo. All were perfectly seasoned. We ordered the two chicken dishes spicy and the lamb mild, but we wished we had gone for it and just had all three spicy, because the curry spices were just amazing. The difference with India House and other Indian restaurants I've been to it that you had to order the nan separately. we just had the regular nan, but there was around 10 other varieties of nan. I wanted every single one, but since my other family members had never had Indian food before, I went traditional style. Next time, I plan on ordering one of the trio mixes of nan though. Definitely hit this place up, no matter where you are in JAX, it is totally worth the drive. They have a lunch buffet everyday of the week. Thanks India House for being so perfect when I brought my family here to try their first Indian food. We are now all BIG fans!
(5)Sheba S.
(1)Maryann P.
(4)C M.
Hands down the best Indian food in Jax, coming from an Indian. The buffet has a large selection. The goat curry is my favorite dish. I also love that they offer free chai with the buffet. The garlic naan is AMAZING, and free! Would definitely recommend, I take my parents there every time they visit.
(5)Marty T.
(4)Elizabeth M.
(4)Kevin W.
The Naan is very good, not quite the same as most Indian places. The Butter Chicken was Exceptional.
(5)Heather K.
I went here today for the lunch buffet. My fave is the chicken tikka masala. The only thing is I would've liked it spicier but I understand they are putting it on the buffet so have to make it mild. Naan is the best I've had. Great service.
(4)Summer S.
(5)Ted K.
Second visit much better than the first. Lunch buffet both times. First visit did not have any "heat". Today the spice level was light but much better than the first. Will be back.
(4)Amrita G.
(2)Beverly H.
Excellent food. The quality and quantity you get here for the price is unmatched. I have been here twice now and absolutely adore it! If you're in the mood for some excellent Indian food go here. You will not be disappointed.
(5)Rodney M.
(3)Stephanie W.
Food was great got the samoa chat appetizer was good and the sagg panner, chicken tikka masala and naan. All very good. Service was good very attentive. Will definitely be visiting here again
(5)John G.

This is my first Indian cuisine experience, ever. I am def a fan. I fell in love with the veg samosas so much that I used them for catering my homeowners associations christmas party for our fellow Indian neighbors in my community. First tried the somewhat apricot flavored chicken patia with naan and veg samosas. Also the s.o. Had the chicken vindaloo level4 heat. He was a hot sweaty mess afterwards but we loved it. They also have kind of a tempura like chicken tender that's amazing. On Sundays, please go try the buffet! I loved their cauliflower and veg , and the little cheese balls floating in rosé water syrup. Hot chai comes with the buffet ...such a wonderful place!
