Honestly, if I could, I wouldn't even give this place one star. My family and I ate dinner here one evening recently. We arrived around six pm. The waitress came over to our family of seven, and proceeded to take our order. One of my children ordered grits and eggs and her boyfriend ordered a cheeseburger. My other two children ordered from the kids menu, chicken tenders and a cheeseburger and fries. I ordered from the "speedy menu", turkey and dressing. My husband ordered beef liver and an extra order of fried chicken livers. We also ordered an appetizer of onion rings, and she did bring my toddler some crackers to munch on. Well, about twenty minutes pass, and still no food. I'm a patient person, and I hardly ever complain unless something is really bad. Our waitress keeps reassuring us that our food is coming very soon. About thirty more minutes pass by. Customers who came in after us have already eaten their food and are now leaving. We still have no food. Once again she tells us just a few more minutes, while mumbling something about the cooks. It's now after seven pm and still no food! Finally, before 7:30pm, they brought out my order, and the kids orders. They didn't bring out the grits and eggs and cheeseburger that my daughter and her boyfriend ordered. My husband got his beef liver, but no sweet potato like he ordered. However they just now told us they were out of them. Then she brings a cold plate of fried gizzards and says, we don't have any chicken livers, so you can have these. Okay...an hour and a half later and you're just now telling us this!!! My poor daughter and her boyfriend finally got their food about twenty minutes after we got ours. I asked to speak to a manager about this whole ordeal. I kindly explained to her about the situation. Well, she gives us this excuse that they run out of food when they're about to close. Holy moly, we got there at 6:00pm! To top it off, she was snarky about it! I have never been treated like that by a manager! My husband and I were in disbelief. The only thing they discounted was the chicken livers that they said were too frozen to cook and therefor they didn't "have them." Wow! Well, I must admit, we were stupid for staying there and tolerating it in the first place. I don't ask for handouts, but our bill should've been discounted quite a bit, or perhaps even taken care of entirely. Well, they took off my husbands meal after we got really irritated with the managers poor excuses. Manager schmanager...pfttt! We will never ever come back here again, not because of the food or waitress, but definitely because of the manager, and the cooks.

My husband and I have not eaten at a Famous Amos in over a decade and decided to give this one a go since we were already in the neighborhood. First impressions? Clean, smells good, and super friendly, attentive waitresses. Coffee was hot and satisfying, and while early, there was plenty of seating. We kept it simple, and each ordered the same meal (called a 2x4 special): 2 eggs (over medium), 4 slices of bacon, grits and toast (but I had a biscuit instead). The plate came out picture perfect and everything was exactly the way we wanted it. No lie, no exaggeration. The grits were creamy, the bacon was crisp, the eggs absolutely textbook and the biscuit was soft & fluffy. We waddled out of there stuffed and satisfied (my husband even had to finish my grits because I couldn't lol). I seriously could not ask for a better, simpler breakfast for the price.

I give 5 stars. The waitress and staff were very polite and friendly as soon as we walked into the door. We had breakfast. I ordered the wagon wheel special and my mom ordered the 3 biscuits with sausage gravy. The food actually came really quick and was cooked perfectly. The waitress always made sure to refill our coffee and tea whenever it needed it. Great restaurant!!

I chose coming here because I love trying local flavor and small mom and pop stores. The theming was nice. The food and service were good but I thought the portions were a little small for the price you paid. I had considered trying this for dinner but glad that I only had breakfast.

I know. Not your fancy restaurant experience, but I really love Famous Amos. The one on Blanding in OP is my favorite one, but this one is great, too. It's a great place for late night munchies and those times when you just don't feel like cooking. And it's a place we often find ourselves saying, "Oooooh, Famous Amos!" We just love their food and my boy especially loves their hamburgers. Seriously, the food has always been consistently fresh & delicious no matter what we've ordered. My favorite is their pork chops or the fried chicken. Here, you experience true southern hospitality with great service, a solid meal that won't break the bank and it's open late for us nightowls. How can you go wrong? If you want some southern comfort food that's simple and consistently good, eat here. Just don't forget about dessert because they usually have some amazing cake or pie in the back for which you wish you would have left some room. Yess.

So I ate here for the first time within the past two weeks. I'm giving 3 stars mainly due to the waitress being kind and the environment which was very quiet and family oriented. I ordered the country fried steak with rice and gravy and broccoli. While the portion was generous the food, all of it, lacked flavor. I used a crazy amount of salt to try and salvage any taste. I did eat the food and after adding the salt it was tolerable but I would have liked for it to be seasoned already... especially to be southern style cooking.

I just can't help myself -- I love Famous Amos (FA)! The FA on Normandy is close to my house so as a non-cook, I'm there at least once or twice a week. In the last few years or so, the place has been given a fresh make-over with new paint and updated decor. The meals are "comfort food" to me and remind me of my Granny's delicious southern-style cooking. I just got back from having breakfast and keep thinking about how good the crispy bacon and buttered raisin toast were this morning! As good as I like the food, it's the service that really makes the FA experience extra special. Wanda and the other ladies there are real waitress pros -- who provide quality attentive service that isn't easy to find in other restaurants around town.

Pretty good country diner food. Sometimes a bit on the salty side. If they have the roast turkey and dressing that day, order it! Prices are very fair with lots of vegetable sides.

Country style food was pretty good. Desserts were not. If you want something sweet, make sure it is freshly made. Service was good and quick.

Good reasonably priced country cooking.

They remodled! Thank you for that. The food is typical diner style with a little more room. Portions are plentiful and 24hr breakfast. Good at 1am or 1pm.

There wasn't a category under Yelp restaurants to describe it. Country cooking fits it best. I'm not sure how long they have been in business, but I'm sure it exceeds 20 years. Where else can one go to find home style cooking? From fried chicken livers and gizzards, fried clams and catfish, liver and onions, country fried steak or a grilled ribeye. All meals come with 2 or 3 side dishes; rice and gravy, green beans, field peas, steamed cabbage, fried okra, black-eyed peas, stewed or fried squash or pickled beets to name a few. They offer launch and dinner specials and senior discounts too. Service is efficient, usually friendly, but this location cannot be call clean. I've eaten at two other locations that are similarly grimy. It's like going to Grand Ma's house, out in the country. What would you expect? Note: this location was recently cited for health violations. But, I've consumed food from here, off and on over a 20 year period and have never knew anyone to be sicken by it.
