I LOVE their veggie fried rice. Big fresh veggies, not just frozen peas and carrot nubs like other places. I get it with the sesame tofu. That's been my go to order for almost 15 years now!

This place is the epitome of cheap and greedy business practices. They skimp on everything. They serve freezer burned meat. I ordered a chicken dish that was no doubt frozen & reheated...the chicken was like eating cotton shoelaces. I know freezer burned meat when I chew on it. Over the last few years they have cut the portions down conciderably but steadily raised the prices. This was absolutely the last time I get my Chinese food there!

Their "fried" rice is just yellow rice and isn't seasoned well. The veg dumplings are delicious with the ginger sauce. They do tofu fine but the rest (veggies & sauce) is lacking. Delivery time was about thirty minutes. Seems like that doesn't vary no matter what time of day.

We stopped in for a shrimp eggroll.... where's the shrimp?

Their food is decent to good and delivery is rarely more than 25-30 minutes. Average in terms of how food is prepared, cost, menu and ingredients. $10 minimum for delivery BUT the delivery person is never pleasant! That's what takes away stars for me--I always tip 20% and greet them in a friendly manner, but am always dismissed as if I'm doing them a favor. Still--the best option around.

Great food! Definitely above average Chinee Takee Outee. They are quick and their prices aren't too expensive. The chicken was very good. Deep flavor and fresh ingredients.

I've been coming here for a long time now and I am always satisfied with the food here. In the 7 years I've lived in Jax I've just come to accept the fact that most of the Chinese food here just doesn't compare to the food In Miami. Also, I was born in NY and lived there until I was 15 and still remember how AMAZING the Chinese food was. Anyhow, The food here is always freshly cooked and the location, for me, is Ideal for frequent visitation. The only thing I don't like is the Yellow "Fried" rice that most places in Jax seem to love using. The fried rice I am accustomed to has always been brown, also the lack of pork in the pork fried rice is a big bummer. I miss my Miami Chinese restaurants where there are abundant big chunks of pork in your fried rice. Those are the only bad things I can really say about China Joy. The Staff is usually pretty friendly and nice. The lobby is always clean, I eat in most of the time I visit. Honestly, If Jimmy Fuu's wasn't so far away from me I would probably go there more often but for now China Joy is my go to spot.

Always forget how bad this is. It takes Chinese takeout to a new low. Avoid if possible. Panda house on king st is much better and cheaper.

It is what it is. If you're looking for decent, cheap, delivery Chinese food, this place is at the top of my list. Food is tasty and what you'd expect from your standard delivery place. Had the wonton soup, it was decent. Beef lo mien was tasty!

We've gotten take out, and delivery and have been very pleased with the quality and quantity of the food and the service. The food is not divine but it is better than average and quite reasonably priced. Many veg options on the menu, including the fried spring rolls that are slightly spicy.

Not many restaurants deliver in our area, so I was delighted to find out China Joy did... Ordered the General Tso's chicken, sweet and sour soup and the vegetable rolls. If your order is over $15.00 they'll throw in a free egg roll, but you have to remind them! General Tso's was ok, the soup is pretty darn good and loved the vegetable rolls. Their lunch menu is cheap...$5.50 for a main dish, vegetable rolls are $1.25 and a pint of hot and soup is $1.95. So if you're not in the mood to venture out, call China Joy's...they are pretty quick in delivering!

Your standard American Chinese...by no means authentic, but definitely did the job. Tried the sweet and sour chicken combo with crab rangoon. Your average Chinese takeout. Though one added bonus...they delivered my meal to my door. Convenient when you don't want to venture out.

Last time I went (see previous review) the food was good, but not terrific. We had take out this past Thursday night and were blown-away by how good it all was. Obviously there was a different cook in the kitchen this time! LOL Never had a problem with hot & fresh, but this time the tastes were great and just what we wanted. The spring rolls were full to bursting with veggies and mushrooms, I just cannot eat enough of them. They are truly the best in town. Hubby had the General Tso's chicken and while it wasn't uber-spicy, it did have a very good heat to it. The Pu Pu platter was fantastic, with the meat on the ribs tender and falling off and the meat on a stick? Totally melt in your mouth. The other offerings on the platter were great as well. (Except for the shrimp toast - never understood the appeal of that. LOL) So, in light of it all, I've upped my rating to 4 stars.

Decent Chinese but I was charged $36 for beef and broccoli w/ fried rice and sweet and sour chicken w/ fried rice and steamed dumplings. Sorry but for any chinese take out place that is completely insane pricing. Don't go hear if you want CHEAP chinese.

It's about as good as all the other fast food Chinese restaurants. They do deliver in a lot of places in the downtown area.

Good mongolian beef. Hot and sour soup wasn't hot enough. Quick and cheap tho.

This is the Chinese delivery option when you are craving food and you are in the Northbank of Downtown. Just make sure you order at least $10 so they will deliver to you. Otherwise you have to pick it up. This is good, though, because every order over $10 qualifies for a FREE eggroll (but you got to mention it when ordering). Lunch combos (10:30 - 3:30 on Mon-Sat) are hella cheap and run about $5. They come with vegetable fried rice and crab rangoon (fried wonton with crab and cheese inside). Even dinner entrees and combos come up to less than $10. My order: 8 Steamed Dumplings for $4.75 - They had pork inside. And the sauce complemented it (I don't know what it is called. It is similar to soy sauce, but not as salty). Pretty delicious for first few bites, but after awhile my stomach was feeling funny. Probably a tad too greasy? General Tso's Chicken w/ vegetable fried rice, brocolli, and crab rangoon for $5.25 - The chicken part of the entree was OK. Brocolli was meh.. Rice was only good for one day and not for leftovers. The meal didn't feel all too fresh in general, but when there are no other options for delivery, well you learn to deal with it. I did not eat the rangoon. (Too full) Anyway, they have a variated selection of Chinese food -- pupu platters, some healthy options, vegetable dishes, soups, noodle dishes, pork, chicken, etc. With the extensive menu here, I kind of prefer this place over Pete's. And another plus? They came 15 minutes earlier than they said they would.

Food was not good. The fried rice was a weird yellow-ish color and the general tso's was below average. The leftovers weren't worth re-heating and eating.

"We're going to have to charge you $1 for being outside the free delivery range." I tried not laugh because it would hurt. I was ordering hangover food. Let me make sure I understand, if I give you $1, I don't have to wash my face, brush my teeth, put on clothes or expose my eyes to light?? I barely wanted to chew let alone drive, but it was the only way to bring my blood sugar level in line with my blood alcohol level. They could have charged me a kidney and I would have agreed, but mostly for the anesthesia. I have no idea why this place has an overall rating of 2 1/2 stars, but I'm bringing up the average. Visiting from SF, I can be a 5 star [what's a nicer word for "bitch?"] about good Chinese food. I've ordered from China Joy three times and I thought the food and fast $1 delivery were pretty solid every time.

Well, the staff is cute! Everything else.. not so much. I've eaten at, oh, I'd say a bajillion chinese takeout joints, as chinese is my favorite food. China Joy is at the bottom of my list. I ordered the General Tso Chicken. Generally, General Tso's tastes the same anywhere you go, but this tasted like... mall food Honey Chicken. It had no spice whatsoever, was way to sweet, and just generally not-right tasting. The rice was sticky to the point where it was wet. The only thing that was alright was the cheese wonton that came with it. I ate 1/2 of the meal and threw the other half away. For being my favorite food, that is a rarity and a crime!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
