Best Mexican food in Jax, I'm comparing to SoCal Mexican food and it's right there. They serve chips and salsa right away and the food is great. Service is fantastic and after trying many places this is the best.

I'm not coming back. The chimichanga was soggy, the chips bordering on stale, and the salad that came with my meal was topped with sour cream instead of guacamole. I've had Mexican all across the country and I've never seen that. Very disappointed with the food and service.

Great service, and the staff is pretty good at refilling the chips and salsa but the food wasn't all that. Had the carne asada nachos and they were disappointing. My friend ordered the cheese enchiladas and he said they were good, but I personally wouldn't eat here again.

Food was good- nothing special but good Mexican food. The service was exceptional. We cam with a group of 10 when they were already crowded and we're able to get in and out in less than an hour. Everyone was extremely friendly.

Decided to give this place a shot, since the reviews were so mixed. Also because real Spanish rice does have peas and carrots in it. It's regional. I had high hopes when the chips and salsa came out. The chips were warm and crisp, and the salsa was very flavorful, with just enough heat. I ordered a beef enchilada, beef taco and chili relleno. The enchilada was OK, nothing great. The relleno batter had an odd flavor, and the batter wasn't cooked all the way. The rice tasted like it was burned. The beans tasted like straight up lard. The taco didn't really taste like anything but tortilla and lettuce. The family running the place were extremely pleasant and accommodating. Too bad the food was so bad.

Flautas awesome, service very good, clean. Only negative loosen up with the A/C.. Fricken warm...It does lack a little flavor... If I were to make a recommendation be prouder of your establishment and put a little more thought into your food.... All in all half way decent for a quick Lunch and the Totilla chips are good.

Was excited to find a what seemed to be an authentic Mexican food restaurant. I was extremely disappointed! I ordered the chicken enchiladas with guacamole salad and my husband had chicken enchiladas with beans and rice. First off, the guacamole tasted and looked like something you buy at the grocery store. Second, I've never in my life have even heard about salsa topped on an enchilada!! It was terrible! My husbands beans tasted like canned retried beans and his rice had peas and carrots! Very odd find in our Spanish rice. I will never venture into this place again.

The mega burrito is not to be missed! It's near as big as my head, and is tough to finish the whole thing. Real Mexican food, period. If you are looking for tex-mex, or some watered down American version of Mexican food, don't bother. This is the real deal from Mexico. Chimichangas are delicious. The most important part of the meal is the dessert. You must have the fried cheesecake. Churros are pretty good, but I can make a meal out of the cheesecake. Staff is second to none, and I get the feeling they really do care about your experience. The owner is always checking in on the customer to make sure they are satisfied. Overall, 10 out of 10, they've earned my business for good!

Very authentic, not one of these BS "texmex" places I have found down here. I lived in San Diego for 8 years and grew to love real Mexican food made by real Mexicans, which is what this place is. Only 4 stars because it's kinda casual, but I like that for my family and loud 4 small daughters. The people are really nice and the food is spot on. We continue to go again and again.

The service was good. The food wasn't that bad. I probably will go back if I'm craving Mexican food.

I saw that this place was opening and was excited to have a Mexican restaurant nearby. Went in for lunch this weekend and was quickly disappointed. First, there are a few things that I cannot hold against them: - No liquor (so no margaritas) - Odd setup (I think the building used to be a fast food restaurant - it has a drive-thru) But there is one major thing I can: - Food quality was poor. I ordered Burritos Supreme, which was a beef burrito and a chicken burrito covered with cheese sauce and guacamole on top. I thought it'd be the best way to try both meats. The burritos were nothing more than meat loosely wrapped in a tortilla. The chicken had no flavor and just looked unappetizing after it fell apart. The "guacamole" was anything but. It was green but looked like it came out of a plastic bag and was probably purchased at Wal-Mart - no guacomole flavor or texture. The rice and beans that came with the meal were OK, except the rice had peas and carrots in it. Strange. Even worse, my girlfriend ordered the shredded chicken enchiladas. There was a 3 inch long bone in hers and the salsa verde coagulated on top of the enchiladas then peeled off while keeping its shape. The place was empty and I have no doubt it won't last long. This restaurant is following the same recipe for disaster that others on Mayport Road have - low quality and lower effort resulting in the lowest chance I'll ever go back.

First time eating here, and will admit i have different taste buds since i am from chicago and use to the mexican food out there. I ordered cheese enchiladas to go, and i am hoping the presentation is this crappy because i didnt dine in. The red sauce they used to me taste a little like the sauce from Chef boy r Dee ravioli. The tortillas in no way look like they were cooked at all and the sauce was just thrown on. I dont know if i would try to dine in and give them another chance. The Orchata was ok, but nothing worth going back for to me.

Nice, family owned. The food is very good and authentic. Give it a try. They'll fix anything you want anyway you want it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
