Tried the Carrabbas on San Jose today. Promptly greeted at the door and shown a seat. There was some sort of end of the year teacher party going on and most of the restaurant was full. Service was good and the food was served quickly for how crowded it was. I generally don't like chain restaurants but they seem to do things correctly at this chain. I tried the prosciutto wrapped asparagus as an appetizer and the chicken Bryan lunch special, both were very good.

I've eaten at this Carrabba's a few times, most recently for a friend's birthday with a group of 10. Like most chain restaurants, you pretty much go in knowing what to expect and this location doesn't disappoint. I'm typically a chicken Marsala girl (and theirs is very tasty) but on my recent visit I had lobster ravioli. It was absolutely fantastic. I generally prefer less sauce on my pasta than is usually served with it but this was perfect. The sauce wasn't heavy or overwhelming and the ravioli had nice chunky lobster inside. The serving was also not insane (it was marked on the menu as one of their under 600 calorie choices) and also came with either salad or soup. I had the minestrone (which I'd had before) and very much enjoyed it. Everyone in the group was happy with their meals and the servers (we had two assigned to us) were very friendly and attentive. Overall a nice option if you're looking for consistently good Italian food.

This was the first time I have been to Carrabba's for lunch, I was very pleasantly surprised how wonderful everything was! We came in and were seated immediately and our server was nice and knowledgable. The menu is about the same but smaller portions of the dinner stuff, also some salads and sandwiches on there. We got the chicken alfredo and a meatball sub. Our server brought the bread and we ate it up (yummy) im in love with bread! But when our food came we were both surprised how great everything was! We have eaten here before and it has always been good, but this was better! The pasta was great and seemed fresh? it was cut into really long strands. I like the addition of peas and mushrooms, the alfredo sauce was creamy and decadent. The meatball sub was great also, great tasting meatballs not a lot of cheese and the bread was perfectly crunchy on outside and soft on inside.

Carrabbas does it again. Meatball Flatbread was awsome. Got the chicken pasta with peas and mushrooms. Beer was ice cold. Great Experience.

This used to be one of our favorite restaurants the food has changed dramatically. The portions are very small the salt is very heavy. We went to Carrabbas on a Friday night our waiter was arrogant with a terrible attitude and must be tired of explaining the new menu. one word describes the food horrible... the veal parmigiana was burnt. They actually sent the dish out burnt to a crisp. The new menu pasta items were so Bland and dry. My favorite spiendido was so salty it was also sent back and returned with lemon butter on the side but it was still salty. Hubby ordered sausage and meatball with spiral noodles he was served spaghetti with meat sauce. Four customers lost for good that night.

Recently, Carrabba's has changed their menu. It claims to have been "updated." I used to order the Mozzarella Sticks, and they were great, but they've been changed to "Mozzarella Bites." They just tasted like dough balls, I could barely taste cheese. They tasted awful, not to mention that only 4 come in an order, and an order costs $4. I also ordered a House Salad. The salad used to be fresh and I got a nice portion. It seemed as though the portion was a third less than what I used to get. I counted 3 pieces of lettuce that had dirt on them. Also, the lettuce was not green, it was yellow. It was also incredibly bitter. I ordered the grilled chicken, and it was cooked nicely. However, the waiter never asked how our meals were. It took at least 10 minutes to place drink orders. The hostess was snobby and gave us dirty looks every time she walked by. The poor service and lower quality food will keep us from coming back. We have been loyal customers to this location for over 4 years.

This was the best Carrabas experience! The food was still warm when we boxes the left overs. The service was on top of it and friendly. Keith, the manager, treated us like VIPs.

Had never been to a carrabbas before, and will probably never be back. I'm sure our experience was isolated, but it was also completely ignored. We never got any bread (which was why I wanted italian) after asking our waiter twice and a second waiter that was walking by. Our waiter basically forgot we were part of his section and the food was so so.

Worst Carrabba's I have ever been to before. The service was terrible and my appetizer came out after we had finished dinner, and it was stone cold. Had to constantly flag down someone for silverware, drink, bread and dipping oil and was sitting at the bar. This was my 2nd bad experience in this same location and I won't go back again. Felt ignored and the quality of the food was not up to the standard expected at Carrabba's. So disappointing to say the least.

Carrabbas is a solid 4 stars to me. We came here on a Wednesday night for a family member's birthday and were pleased to find it was Wine Wednesday. They offer $10 off bottles of wine & $5 glasses. If you participate, they also give you a small cheese plate. I ordered the pasta sostanza for my entree & liked it a lot. It has mushrooms, artichokes, spinach & a basil tomato sauce. My only complaint about the meal was the salad. Caesar, house & italian all had iceberg lettuce & minimal toppings. They weren't very appetizing. Overall, good food, atmosphere, service but a little pricey for a chain restaurant.

Came here for lunch with my younger siblings, niece and fiancé. Immediately seated and wasn't crowded. Friendly staff and I love how the menu now shows the calories for everything. Great for me to log in my calories for lunch. The decor was nice and clean. Good steamy bread with a bit of strong oil and some sort of herbs (no vinegarette). I thought it was okay. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer. Nice portion. Very hot and crispy. I thought it was a little too salty, but with squeezed lemon and dipped in the marinara it tasted fine. I liked it and everyone else did too. I had the Tuscan Grilled Chicken. Very juicy and a good size for chicken. Had a side of Garlic mashed potatoes (tsk tsk, but couldn't help it). The garlic mashed potatoes tasted pretty good and very warm. I thought it was a good amount. My sister had the Fettuccine Weesie with shrimp. I tried a little bit of her pasta and shrimp and was good as well. The sauce was a good enough to cover the fettuccine. My fiancé had a salad, bowl of lentils, and meatballs. The lentils soup was good and hot. Meatball was good, warm, and juicy. I thought his salad was good as well. Overall, I'll come back here again whenever I crave it. Great during lunch time.

Sunday nite is not the night to eat here. In the past good food, great service, tonight Sunday, not so much...Waitress kept disappearing for over 20min...Salad came out drenched in the house, I mean drenched. Finally the entre appeared, Pasta Weezie was floating in a watery Alfredo, when the waitress appeared, she took the entre for a do over, then the do over sauce was so thick it would work for mortar...What happened to my Carrabba's & where am I? ?? I left hungry! This has never happened before.....Spent over $40.00 for yuck!

I was starving after a (bad news) dental appointment. I decided to treat myself with something warm, soft and creamy. The Fettuccine Carrabba was excellent! My 5 star rating is really for my waiter, Damian B. Next time you're in the neighborhood, stop by and see him!

We went to Carrabba's for a holiday lunch for our office today and it was a nice escape from the day to day business of Monday. There were 13 of us and the server did a great job of having water already out for everyone upon arrival and warm bread with their wonderful oil and herb dip as well. I ordered a very basic grilled chicken salad, which was good. But from what I can tell everyone else enjoyed their meals as well. It was a nice reminder that Carrabba's is open and available as a lunch option.

Overall, a nice restaurant, but extremely busy on Friday evening, so service could have been more prompt. I ordered the veal marsala, my partner ordered the salmon. Both meals came with soups which were tasty, but luke warm. My veal marsala was luke warm and not tender at all. My partner's salmon was good. It could have been that the restaurant was extremely busy that the food was not properly prepared. Maybe another night, maybe not.

Great food great atmosphere and one of the best servers I have ever had, her name was Sarah and she was so helpful in being totally honest on what food we would like, if there is one thing I hate is to go out to eat and get bad service and this was the total opposite in fact every time I go back I would wait extra time to sit in her section because no matter how great the food is I like great service to go with my food and she made sure the kitchen cooked my steak exactly how I liked it and made awesome recommendations to my date so she loved her food as well.

The food quality and quantity has decreased over the past year. I ordered the Spiedino de Mare, my usual favorite, along with roasted broccoli and cauliflower. It was brought out on a small plate, and at first glance I thought it was an appetizer. There were four small shrimp, and four small scallops. The shrimp were noticeably smaller than the shrimp served in the other dishes ordered at the table. The scallops were less than half the size they normally were. The roasted broccoli and cauliflower where not roasted, but rather frozen broccoli that was mushy and chopped and most definitely not roasted, but steamed. To his credit, the waiter tried to explain that the seafood was based on the size received from market and this time of year they were running smaller. He promised to ask the kitchen for more. However, I was so dissatisfied at this point, I asked for something else. I ordered the grilled salmon and received it in a reasonable amount of time. However, it was not cooked all the way through. The other dishes at the table were better than mine, but lacking in overall taste and quality. Unfortunately, one of our favorite restaurants we will likely not revisit as the quality is not up to par for the price point of this restaurant.

I work for a Lincoln dealership, and we try to WOW our customers all the time. Well this time I was Wowed. I went to Carraba's on San Jose a couple of Saturdays ago, while I was getting tires put on my truck across the street. I ordered a beer at the bar . The bartender , brought it promptly & we had some pleasant conversation. While I was enjoying my beverage, the proprietor, (Keith ) came up & asked if I liked mussels ? Yes I said, and gave me an order that was cooked by mistake for someone else. Not only the mussels, but my bartender said wait a moment, and served me the bread & oil that they serve with it ! No charge ! The mussels were fantastic, and now I was Wowed ! I ordered another beverage and enjoyed everything . I will definitely tell all my friends and clients about this great experience , and I'll be back to this Carraba's again & again ! Thanks Keith & everyone at Carraba's in Mandarin !!

The house salad was very, very skimpy. The bread portions seem to have shrunk. The entree - pollo rosa maria - seemed to be missing the internal cheese and ham. Finally - I ordered bambino sundaes for the kids; and $3 for a small scoop of ice creak with barely any chocolate ganache was too much. I had to ask for these items to be taken off the bill. As a regular Carrabba's customer for years - I'm not sure what's going on. Maybe this location had a bad night in the kitchen? I hope the raised prices; cut down portions; and overall reduction in the richness of the food is not a trend! For now, I'd say tread cautiously! Check your meal; and don't be afraid to halt it or ask for a re-do.

Had dinner here on 6/27/13. The group I dined with provided the 3 rating. Service was good, but not outstanding. I tried the seasonal skewers and they were salty, but nice and tender.

Side "House Salad" was just iceberg lettuce and 2 olives. "Seafood pasta" was just noodles, runny sauce, and 4 shrimp. Very pricey

We went to this location in Mandarin on a Saturday evening around 6:45pm. Make sure you try to call ahead as this location is incredibly busy around this timeframe. It is VERY difficult to talk here as well as the acoustics make this location extremely loud. It was difficult to even have a conversation with the gal sitting next to me, let alone across the table. We had a party of 9 people and sat in a pretty good spot in the middle of the restaurant. We had two servers and although they were both really, really friendly and attentive, the two of them didn't communicate together very well when we would add custom requests to our order. No matter, they really did a great job getting the food and drink orders in and bringing out the items that were left off entrée's or apps. The mussels here are tremendous! And we always use the broth to dip bread in throughout the meal as well which my taste buds LOVE and my hips hate! Nonetheless, I highly recommend these to those who enjoy this kind of shellfish. The entrees were a bit lacking in quantity though. Each steak was a tiny little round of meat, and for the prices here I would have thought that the platters would have been plated in a way that did not show so much white space. Drinks and service were good and some of the appetizers were well done too, however, the entrée's were not so terribly spectacular to me. They were just ok.

I went to carrabbbas because i was dying to get some creme brule only to find that they have revamped their menu since the last time i went and no longer have it. Let me tell you that the food was good. However for the prices... lets just say that if i am going to pay $15 for a plate i better get what i am paying for and lets put it this way i felt like i was getting a childs size portion. Now i know what your thinking.... " America has portion size all wrong and we need to learn to eat smaller portions." Well baloney! If i want a smaller size then i better pay a smaller size amount of money. I only wouldnt go here because i feel like you would only pay for the atmosphere. So if you dont want to go hungry and leave hungry or barely be satisfied, i recommend you go somewhere else.

Except for Maggianos the only Italian chains I will eat at is Carrabbas. This location is the best one I have ever been to for service which reflects on overall management. Good food at a reasonable price. They offer many specials, and have tried many of their entrees; all are good, but I lean to their pasta only dishes. Best price anywhere in Jax for A gray Goose martini (happy hr. 4-7) comes to $4.75! Good wine list by the glass. Met manager Ray Bova; he is very accommodating, and will make adjustments to your meal for your diet happily.

Very pricey

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
