High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

It's an Applebee's. So it's not much to write about. Every Applebee's has 1/2 price appetizers late night. Plus 1/2 price drinks...

This place is very hit or miss. My mother and I always get the 2 for 20. Always get steaks. It usually is hit or miss if they can cook the steak correctly. Sides are usually hit or miss also. Either they are cold or over cooked. When they get it right it's awesome but when they get it wrong it takes them a while to fix. Service is also hit or miss. I went tonight and service was very good.

Updating my review based on our experience yesterday. I didn't want to go, but my husband seemed to really want to so I said OK. I still wasn't thrilled about our last visit. We were seated promptly and the waitress was great. We started off with the Pub Pretzels with Beer Cheese dip and were very thrilled. I could have eaten the whole thing myself. The dip was stringy cheesy with a good beer taste (no Velveeta here). The pretzels might have been fried, and were crispy outside and super soft inside, a great compliment for the dip. I had the Turkey, Bacon & Avocado sandwich with onion rings instead of fries (extra charge, but worth it). The turkey wasn't lunch meat, it was carved, roasted breast meat. The bacon was perfectly crisp and the avocado was generous. I believe it was served on a lightly toasted ciabatta roll. The onion rings were awesome. Husband had the 4 Cheese Grilled Cheese sandwich with Tomato Bisque soup. He really enjoyed it and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The only oops during our visit was that the waitress thought he ordered the 4 Cheese Macaroni plate. It wasn't her fault at all, I blame the corporate office for having two meals with almost identical names. LOL She fixed the mistake and husband got the correct order in almost no time at all.

It has been several years since the last time I've eaten here or at any Applebee's. A little overpriced I think. Not much flavor on the 9 oz sirloin I had for $15 during lunch (the menu photo looked mouth watering). Our server, Angela, did a nice job though. 2 1/2 stars
(3)Sara B.
Not sure if they were understaffed or what but we were told the wait would be 30 minutes because there was only one table to seat our large crowd even though there were quite a few empty tables. After waiting a while and considering going elsewhere we were eventually seated to a table that had been empty the entire time. The server was friendly and constantly trying to strike up a conversation but the wait was a little long for food and some of the appetizers weren't very hot whenever we got them. I live about 30 miles away from this location but stopped in for a special occasion while in the area and it'll probably be my last. I'd rather drive a little farther to receive better quality and service. Oh, and maybe this is just me but I've never seen a restaurant charge for a birthday dessert; this one did. We asked for the whole birthday hoopla for someone in our party and everyone came around sung, brought a sundae, and we were astonished to find that almost $3 was added onto our ticket for a teeny tiny sundae. Had we known that we wouldn't have bothered, especially since we only did it to poke a little fun at the birthday girl.

Ok I know you have probably eaten here before and so have I but this will be my new review for you. Ok they have some new hamburgers on the menu and I will have to give this one an a okay. We had the Brew Pub and I am full. This thing was full of great meat and onions and jalapeños and, well you get the idea. I had the onion rings and they were fantastic. I dipped them in the beer cheese, tasty. Go now and try one.

Terrible experience. The food was cold and the bar tenders.... Where do I begin. So last night I stopped by for a pick up order. While waiting around I was talking to a man about being an American (hense July 4th) I started speaking about freedoms and such. Apparently the bar tender didn't like it very much and had (applebeas security) ask me to leave. Extremely inappropriate. So next time your in make sure you don't speak about being an American.

I am not going to say I was thrilled with my experience at this restaurant. It was not bad, but the food was mediocre at best. It is way too expensive for what they provide.
(2)Michelle A.
Not good. Nothing was good. We started with crispy green beans and they were the greasiest green beans I had ever had. Then I had a Caesar salad with shrimp on top and the shrimp was luke warm and you could tell they had been sitting out for too long. My fiancé ordered a steak medium and it came out very over cooked and the onions on top of it were practically raw. The only positive part of our experience was our waitress, Grace.
(1)Keli C.
I love this place. Great food and even better service. If you visit try the 2 for 20.
(5)David B.
Great place to get ignored by your waitresses and served a frozen wet steak .
(1)Bob S.
It's an Applebee's, take that for whatever it's worth. I orderd the steak and shrimp combo, waitress returned with the news that they didn't have the sauce for the shrimp. So, I changed my order to the Jalapeno Burger, and asked for it "pink". The fairly small pattie came out well done -- I'm not sure even an expert chef could have stopped it at "pink." The wait staff was attentive, but not overbearing. A glass of iced tea was $2.50, I'll be having water here in the future. If I could give this half a star, I'd rate it a 2.5. It's average.
(2)Carl T.
Ugh! Sat at bar. Served promptly and ordered a soft drink, soup, and a steak. Soup ok, steak followed and was disgusting. I swear they put it on the grill for a minute just to sear in the grill marks, then microwaved it. It was an even gray outside and in, with just a bit of pink. I had three bites from various spots, and called the bartender over to reject it. She offered another, or to replace with another meal, but I declined, and got billed only for the soup and drink. The bartended was super understanding, which kind of red flagged me afterwards that this type of thing was a common occurance. Business associates told me the next day that this location has a poor reputation. One star, but only for how nice the bartender was.

Im on a fajitas kick lately.. The steak fajitas were good here..The server Danielle was very attentive to all my needs... she kept my drink full which is my pet peeve.

Descent food for AppleBees, Hope not in a hurry 1 person is going to be there for at least an hour.. 25 just get order. If not working I recommend, if on lunch call in or go else where.
(3)Luka S.
Went there on a Thursday and it was actually a lot of fun, got the 1/2 off appetizers and it was a wrap. Service is a bit slow but the restaurant was packed tho. It was a typical 3 star Applebee's restaurant nothing pass that.
(3)Brian H.
Ok so I gave them another try, boy what a mistake. The only thing that improved was the look of the outside. The hostess sat me and my son pretty quick which was nice. But then she had to remind our waitress, not once but twice to take care of us. And we were sitting right up front, she couldn't miss us! We finally ordered and I will say the glass wear was clean this time. Although she forgot my lemons. And forgot them twice more... Ok, our app arrived, wrong. We ordered mild boneless wings and they were hot, my son couldn't eat them. I will admit they were pretty good to me though. Our lunch finally arrived after about 20 minutes. Too long for lunch if you ask me. Mine was cold..it was the new shrimp and tequila lime chicken. It probably woulda been ok but the chicken tasted like last nights chicken and now my belly even agrees.... My son ordered the penne pasta chicken. It looked good, he liked it.. Right before we left, our waitress brought me my lemons....I guess I was taking them with me... I'm not going back to this location, ever.....
(1)G A W.
45 min to get soup. Then entree came in another 10 minutes. Was almost bare with customers at 1330 time. Stay away. Slow device and better food elsewhere Second trip on the last month. Same thing last visit just at another time.
(1)Anthony L.
I never really go into an Applebee's expecting good food but usually the service is ok. Unless you're dining at this Applebee's. It seems like this building was closed and some people just wandered in and found name tags lying around. The place smells like something got wet and someone tried to dry it with an old sock. Every booth I've gotten has the springs blown out of the seat and every chair I've gotten has been on the verge of collapsing. The bar must be the place to sit, because there's never any room at it. Although, it seems the people at the bar have been sitting there all day. The food is microwaved poorly and has no flavor, but that's normal for Applebee's. what really sets this particular location apart is the bad service and overall feeling that nobody that works there knows what they're doing. I was there one night where there were three girls seating people but only two people serving people. Also, why are all of their employees 7 months pregnant? What really keeps me from eating here is all the special nights they do to try and drum up business. Trivia, karaoke, some kind of club night, daddy/daughter (creepy), etc. Also, they have security guards at night which just makes you feel unsafe. I'd give them one star but they get a bonus star for being open late.
(2)Toni B.
Absolutely HORRIBLE service... Everyone at the bar, where we were sitting, received their food before we did. Steak was undercooked, returned to the kitchen, second order was even worse than the first. Received a to go order - completely wrong order. It could not have been any worse. Wound up leaving hungry without ANY food. Go elsewhere!
(1)Kevin H.
Do not go here if you want good service. I normally go here with work colleagues at lunch. The food takes a while to make and service is terrible 4 out of 5 times. My colleagues told me they were going to lunch here 2 weeks ago. It was a party of 8 people and I told them I was not going b/c we always have issues at this Applebees. They came back an hour and fifteen minutes later and said that they had ordered and never got food for an hour so they left. In that hour the server only came by 1 time. Do not go here unless you want to be tortured.
(1)John K.
Yes it's Applebees for what's it's worth. Have not been back in four years because the food was marginal, the service was bad and the interior was way nasty and filthy. We decided to trying again since they did a make over the inside. Good news is that the interior looks and smells a lot better. Bad news food and service still sucks. The food took forever. We were there on a Sunday not crowded at all was pretty amazing. We watched our glasses sitting on the bar like 15 mins as bar tender was talking and texting on her phone trying to stay out of sight of the manager. We did make sure talk to person who seemed to be playing the manager who just seemed to be Doing nothing but covering. There's better places an better service across the street.
(1)Jerry V.
Denise is always the best! Being an old bartender myself, I remember the little things and she's a pro! Ask for her if your here for lunch...but sit at the bar...Food is always good and fresh...
(4)Ed L.
I vacillated between the riblets and the shrimp. This was the first time I ate here and didn't order the riblets. The double crusted fried shrimp sounded interesting, so I decided to add them to my reputes. I have to say, with little confidence I'd approve. They are served with cole slaw and fries but I substituted loaded mashed taters. They serve 18 count on the shrimp, an abundance in quantity, but not quality. Obviously not fresh, obviously not hand dip coated and obviously not within my caliber for fried shrimp. But for a snack, they will do. The tartar sauce is good, and as I've stated in another review, it made the shrimp passable. 2 Stars - Shrimp 3 Stars - Tartar Sauce 6 Stars - OMG, the loaded mashed potatoes are decadent, try them. 3 stars - 2 for one well drinks and beers 3 Stars - Service. Our waitress (Audrie) was not a veteran but very sweet and tried very hard to be attentive. Still lovin' the 5 Star riblets and now the 6 Star mashers.
