So, first time here. I've been wanting to try this place out for a while, so I'm glad I finally had a chance to check it out. On first impression, it's smaller than I thought it would be, but I think that adds to its charm. I've seen other reviews on how it can get packed with long waits for Sunday Brunch, and I can see why. But dining solo, it was pretty easy to get seated quickly. Staff are nice and courteous, and my server was quick to answer any questions I had regarding the menu. The menu...well, there were pretty good-looking selections. And the "ABC-exclusive" dishes were marked as such, so it was easy to figure out the choice dishes to select. My server told me everything was made in-house as well, so that was good to hear. I went with the Crabcakes Cavallo - Two crabcakes, topped with two poached eggs and a hollandaise sauce infused with Andouille sausage, peppers and chives, all on top of two English muffins. I decided to go with the regular seasoned potatoes instead of upgrading to Mediterranean potatoes. Oh, my cup runneth over with yolk goodness when I broke into the egg - perfect! Hollandaise sauce was pretty light, which I liked, and the crabcakes stayed the hero of the dish. Crab was complemented with a little kick from the Andouille sausage. The only criticism I would give about my dish was that the potatoes were a bit saltier than I would have liked. But awesome dish. Great choice if you're feeling more of a savory dish. Curious about the other dishes I saw - city grits, blackberry grits, beignets, the cinnamon roll French toast - so you know what that means. I'll be coming back for another go-around!

This is my second time here. First the service was ok, food was great. So i came back for lunch with biz. Associate. Do not come here during lunch. They are not prepared to serve fast, or a lot of people at the same time. Server and greeter do not listen to you or your answers. We told the server that tomatoes were burnt and she said "...that is great...." Twice. Reccomendation is if u see a lot of people, leave and come back when it is not busy.

We decided to come here due to the overwhelmingly positive Yelp reviews, but we came to a conclusion that this place is overrated after our visit. This is the second time we've visited this place, but we didn't eat here the first time because it was on the weekends and there was a long wait. This time we came on Tuesday around 10:30AM, and the place was still fairly packed, and we had to choose to sit outside, at the bar, or wait. We sat at the bar, and the service was fine. The server took our orders promptly, checked on us periodically, and made sure we had everything we needed. The manager also came by to check on us, which was nice. The things we didn't like were actually the food, which was surprising to us because all the reviews said the food was great. I ordered the Hey Lucy omelet (Avocado, breakfast chorizo, sautéed onions & green chilies with Cheddar-Jack. Sour cream & salsa sides), and my wife ordered the Crabcake Cavallo egg benedict (Jumbo lump crab cakes, two poached eggs, Andouille infused hollandaise with diced red bell peppers & green onions). Hey Lucy Omelet - 2.5 out of 5 stars Very bland. The chorizo tasted okay, but the taste of it was so strong that I couldn't taste anything else in the omelet such as the avocado. I felt like I was just eating a huge chunk of chorizo. I couldn't even taste the eggs. The potatoes on the side were so salty that I could feel my blood pressure increase as I eat them. Although the presentation of the food was very nice. Crabcake Cavallo - 3.5 out of 5 stars The crabcake itself was so-so, and my wife didn't really like it (I thought it tasted pretty average). The sauce had a sour taste to it, which she also didn't like (I found it okay though). The pouched egg was nicely done. The potatoes on her plate were even more salty than mine. It was so salty that she couldn't eat it, and she had to eat mine. Pros: Great service Nice interior design and atmosphere + outdoor seating Lots of customers all the time (medium noise level) Cons: Average food Expect a wait on weekends and holidays In conclusion, maybe we just have weird taste buds, but we didn't find the food as extraordinary as the other Yelpers. This place is definitely not worth a 15-30 minutes wait. It's also a bit more pricey than other breakfast places.

I consider myself a fan of food, and breakfast food especially. That being said, I just had the best omelette I've ever had in my life: the Lobster and Brie Omelette was amazingly delicious. The cost of $14.95 almost deterred me, but I decided to go for it and I'm glad I did. On the negative side, I thought the potatoes were a bit rubbery but otherwise, I loved my meal and I would definitely recommend it to a friend. If you are into deals; I signed up on line while in the restaurant and received a coupon immediately for 10 free beignets... We took them to go!

I got a sneak taste of this at the moonbeam bash, they were sampling their city grits and a blueberry quinoa....oh my gosh those grits!!! I remembered them and needed more! So went with the family on a Sunday morning around 11 .....it was packed! They told us an hour wait for inside, or 20 minutes for outside...so we took the outside even though it's like 167 degrees outside with 1000 percent humidity...we really wanted some food... Ok get our table and our server was a complete sweetheart I think her name is Elizabeth, and she took wonderful care of us!! Now to the food.... We got a lot! Apps: City grits- yes get this!!! Grits mixed with Gouda cheese topped with bacon, tomato, and chives....sooooooooo good!! I could eat the whole thing myself... Fried green tomatoes- yum, we got the last order of the day, so these were small pieces of tomatoes with a crab cake in the middle..they actually comped this off with out us asking cause it took a little long to come out ( told you our server was great) ;) Entrees: Shrimp n grits- ehhh just ok, the shrimp were on the small side, and the seasoning was very lite, felt like needed to add salt and pepper The Floridian- huge omelette with cream cheese folded inside then topped with crabmeat and a ton of cheese, served with fried potato chunks.....this dish just tasted fattening...lol....a lot of butter and cheese Chicken Caesar salad- large salad with a very lemon forward Caesar dressing with 4 skewers of chicken...nice twist to traditional Caesar Ultimate omelet- hubby's he enjoyed and ate the whole thing So all in all pretty good, the food is on the heavy side so if your watching your weight I would eat here sparingly....but def try those City Grits! :)

When you're laying in bed on a Sunday morning, breakfast options usually stay within a mile radius of the house. At least for us they do. Somehow on this Sunday we found ourselves heading to Southside. We luckily arrived just ahead of the Sunday Brunch crowd because we were able to get seated rather quickly and get our order in before things got a little hectic. Our server Kathryn was so sweet & right on top of everything for us. I don't remember exactly how she said it, but the way she would ask if she could get us anything really reminded me we still live in the south. Bordered on too sweet, but it was just the right amount of stellar service. We split the Monster Cinnamon Roll to start and the name is very fitting. It's quite a big roll, and while one person could probably finish it, it's better as a shared snack. For my breakfast i went with the City Grits appetizer. The grits were just the right amount of thick but still nice and creamy. With plenty of bacon and cheese to go in every bite, my palate was quite satisfied. And the size was perfect after having shared the roll with my husband. We'll definitely be back again soon. Did try to go again - but with the Father's Day crowd out in full force - our attempt was thwarted.

The most important meal of the day - breakfast! I visited Another Broken Egg on a recent work trip. Conveniently snuggled between my hotel and a very busy Starbucks. I wish I had more people at my table to share some of the delicious sounding apps like biscuit beignets or fried green tomatoes. Oh well, next time! I decided with the thick slice Hawaiian french toast with fresh strawberries. I read another entree on the menu was served with a cinnamon marmalade infused syrup and I asked if I could get that, without hesitation my server said yes. Score! It gave the very unoriginal, yet tasty, french toast pretty darn special. Also, it's a huge portion, so bring your appetite or someone to share it with you. Coffee was good in their old style pottery mug that has the local city on it. All in all, I would definitely return. Good fresh food with quick friendly service.

Good place to get breakfast! Food was great and I got a healthy option (because I'm "trying" to eat right :P). The service was great the first round and then the waitress kind of got a bit weird. She was a bit touchy, tried to make some awkward jokes, forgot to split my friend and I's check twice and almost walked away with my friend's credit card. I can see she was trying to be friendly. I get it, but sometimes there is a certain point not to get too weird with your guests. But anyways, to the food. I got the Fruit, Granola, and Quinoa. I was very impressed. The presentation was great and lots of fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, raisins, and banana. It has a good coconut flavor to it as well and chobani yogurt. Poured a small cup of, I believe milk, around the bowl and it was good. I was only able to eat about a quarter of the bowl because the fruits, granola and quinoa fills you up quickly! Very quickly! I had to take the remaining home. Such a great healthy breakfast and loved it.

Sunday brunch days: The hominess, the smells, the warmth, the relaxed sunday funday atmosphere, friends and fam, and of course the comfort food and excuse to drink some bubbly before 12pm. The one thing I don't like about Sunday brunch are the exhaustive lines. Most places don't take reservations either. Our wait for 4 was about 40 minutes. Fast forward to food: i got a skinny omelette, subbed the English muffin for a buttermilk biscuit simply because butter is essential to happiness and picked on others' plates as well ;) Delicious home fries, they have a lighter fare menu which actually tasted good, and yummy steak and crab Benedict (Benedict Oscar) Next visit to Jax, def may stop by again ;) I hear the muffins are very yum and they have a bloody mary worth trying. Cake and savory drinks for brekky? Well Why not.

Not a good experience. Firstly, the service. Aloof, uninterested- slow. Took 20 minutes to get drinks- another 15 to take our order. I ordered the burger- mid rare. It arrived 30 minutes later- well done. Sent it back and didn't see it again- probably for the best. Sampled the other dishes at the table. Hashbrowns? Laughable- deep fried over salted potato squares. Not good. Smoked salmon benedict? Oversalted again- overcooked eggs- clumsy capers everywhere, low quality salmon- and soggy english muffins. No hollandaise sauce- so it was dry. Don't worry- we ordered some on the side- and they brought it out cold in a plastic container. Nice. No wait- not nice. Awful. Chorizo egg dish was again, oversalted and clumsily presented. Across the board the food was not good, overpriced, severely oversalted and presented poorly. You're way better off at First Watch. Or Waffle House honestly.

If you are planning to come during the weekend , be ready to wait for at least 20 mins. The staff seemed overwhelmed with the demand , and the working system was not smart, with that being said, the service was pretty bad. Very inattentive , and took a lot more than expected to even get a refill on coffee. Now let's talk about the food... My boyfriend had the salmon Benedict , and he hated it , very bland taste, the pouched eggs were not properly cooked. I had what looked like a bacon egg Benedict, mine was edible, I would say a 5of 10 on Benedict's world. The dish came with a side of potatoes( which were not too bad) Would have to think about it before returning, but to their benefit, it's 4th of July Weekend, very very busy.

I can't remember how we heard about this place, but apparently my husband decided that we should go! Being that we were in walking distance we went and sat outside being that the weather was decent enough. We started off with the beignets and it was pretty good especially with the marmalade. I ordered the crab stack I think thats what its called and it was sooo good minus the fact that the grit cake had mushrooms in them but overall it was really good! I want to go back and try different items on the menu.

I have got to say that I am lovin this place. At first me and my husband thought our server was a bit awkward but he was amazing!! He totally spoiled me, and I left very happy. Anything I wanted he got me. He made really good suggestions and even told me that everything is fresh and that custom orders are possible. I ended up getting the waffle breakfast sandwich with ham instead of bacon. It was loaded up with ham and cheese. The waffles had a very good flavor too and they were light and fluffy. I also got a side of biscuits and gravy which the biscuits were amazingly soft and the gravy was really good too. Instead of potatoes I got a side of fruit which was very fresh and customized to my favorites! My husband got the Floridian and he said it was really good. The potatoes he got were really crispy when they came out. Overall I would def be happy to bring my family here over and over again because it's been a long time since I left a place that happy and feeling spoiled by my server :-)

The food & service was horrible, I'm really not seeing what people are raving about with this place. It took us 20 minutes to ever even see a waitress to get drinks. We had 3 kids with us and it took 45 minutes for the food to arrive, when it did it was gross. How can a place burn pancakes for kids and not realize they were burnt? Sent them back and came out burned again. The staff wasn't very concerned either.

I went to my first ABEC in Atlanta and tried the granola, fruit & quinoa bowl and became absolutely obsessed. I searched everywhere for breakfast quinoa to make at home and it wasn't just the same. So excited that now we have ABEC in Jax. My granola, fruit & quinoa bowl in Atlanta was loaded with strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. I was so disappointed that the one in Jax came with a small serving of blueberries. Also the presentation of the food in Atlanta seems to be of a higher caliber. It seems the staff here doesn't care as much with presentation of the food.

Went here for breakfast this morning for the second time - absolutely loved it. The servers are very nice and THE FOOD. Oh my, the food. The food is absolutely delicious and is definitely generous with the portions. Me and my gals had the sweet potato pancake, the blueberry quinoa bowl, and the baked Brie delight. It was so delicious, I absolutely love this restaurant for breakfast and would definitely recommend to people.

I saw on Yelp that this place has recently opened. So this past weekend, I dragged hubby and my sister to give it a try. I figure because it's new, we will have to be prepared to wait in line. Sure enough, when we got there around 9:30 on Saturday, there was already a line. However, the wait was not nearly as long as I expected. We were told 15-20, but i'd be surprised if we even waited 10 minutes. It was a nice day, not to hot or cold. So probably everyone else waiting in line opted for outside seating. We just figure first available and got a table inside. The inside was actually quite small, but they do have a pretty decent size outdoor seating. Being new, it was clean and have a freshness to everything. We enjoyed their coffee mug design with their cute logo and shape. I opted for their basic French Toast with added scrambled eggs and bacon. My sister ordered the Traditional with scrambled eggs, bacon and upgraded to city grits. Hubby ordered also the Traditional with grilled andouille sausage, poached eggs, and toast. Everything was pretty tasty. The French Toast was no fluff, just nicely done with powdered sugar, the way I like it. The grits my sister ordered was very tasty It may not be the best grits I've ever had, but nice touch on the extra add-ins like bacon bits, tomatoes, etc... My husband also enjoyed his meal. His poached eggs were just ever-so-slightly under cooked, but otherwise, everything was good. The service was friendly, but slow. But I think that is due to a place being new, still got a few kinks to work out. Overall, for a brand new place, it was quite good. We had lots to chat about and were in no rush, so it was overall, a very pleasant experience for us. I am happy to say that we now have a new close by brunch place to frequent.

My roommate and I stopped in earlier today for brunch. We had to wait since it was just a bit after noon and the place was busy. We waited maybe 5-10 minutes before getting a table outside. The little bit of the inside I saw was cute and had a nice, cozy feel. I started off with a mocha since I was in serious need of some caffeine. It wasn't terrible but wasn't that great either (the waitress mentioned she's still learning to use the espresso machine so it may be hit or miss depending on who makes it) At $4, I'll probably skip it next time. I saw the tip on here to join their email club so we had a coupon for a free order of the biscuit beignets. Oh boy, was that worth the few minutes it took to get on the email list! We didn't even use the marmalade it comes with but the beighnets were warm and super tasty. I was very pleasantly surprised. For my meal I went with the Floridian (cream cheese filled omelette topped with garlic sautéed crabmeat, Monterey Jack & green onions) with Mediterranean potatoes. The omelette was huge and so decadent. The idea of the cream cheese freaked me out a little but it gave the omelette a fantastically creamy consistency. There was a good bit of crabmeat on top and lots of cheese. The potatoes were fantastic, perfectly crispy (I hate when breakfast potatoes are that mushy, wet consistency). I didn't even touch the English muffin, it was just too much. My roommate got the biscuits and gravy, substituting bacon for sausage and she loved it. I initially thought the prices were a little on the high side but servings are large and ingredients are clearly very fresh. The service wasn't bad but it did seem like our waitress disappeared for a few long stretches (it almost seemed like we were her only table outside). I saw lots of items on the menu I was interested in trying so I'll be back. Another Broken Egg Cafe is a great place for a indulgent (don't check the calories if you're watching what you eat!), satisfying meal.

I kept seeing the "coming soon" signs while driving by this place and wondering when it would open. It wasn't until I saw on Yelp this week that they were open for business that I knew I had to try it. My mother and I went on a Saturday morning on a whim. When we got there the parking lot was not quite full but we could tell that we would be waiting a while just from seeing the people standing out front with pagers. Since it was just the two of us, I figure it wouldn't be long. We put our name down and were told about a 25-30 minute wait. No biggie. It was about 20 minutes later that we were being seated at a table. The first thing I noticed walking in was the bar. I wasn't expecting that at all. Then I noticed how small it was inside. It seemed like there was more outdoor seating then inside. The decor reminded me of a farmhouse's kitchen and dining room with lots for floral pictures and copper kitchenware hanging on the walls. The drink variety was expansive than most brunch chains. We ordered an apple juice and a mimosa to start. I like that the mimosa came with a strawberry, like it should. On the appetizer/starters section, the blackberry grits got my attention so I ordered that. My mother ordered a blueberry muffin. For our entrees, I got the Lobster Brie Omelet and mom ordered the Traditional. It took awhile for the food to come out since we got there around lunchtime and the servers were running around like crazy. The blackberry grits were good. I guess I was expecting stone-ground grits but these tasted like your regular run-of-the-mill kind. That's fine. Adding blackberries to them were delicious. Mom's blueberry muffin was huge! When she cut it in half, it look good gobs delish. It was all fluffy and moist. Mom enjoyed it. Our entrees came out and everything looked good. I was in lobster and Brie heaven. The omelette had shredded lobster on top with sliced Brie underneath and to my surprise, creamy cream cheese inside. This was foodgasmic! I also got a side of Mediterranean potatoes cooked in olive oil and sprinkled with feta cheese and other items I don't recall. My mother got The Traditional: scrambled eggs, substitution of turkey sausage, wheat toast, and potatoes. She stated, "It's good. I think I just like simple stuff." Service was very good given the chaos all around us with servers running every which way. We will definitely be back to try some lunch items.

I had heard great things about this place from friends so I thought I'd give it a try. On my first visit I got takeout because my dog was with me. It took an unusually long time, nearly half an hour, to complete my order. I ordered French toast and paid the up charge for the combo which included eggs and bacon, but no drink. I paid an additional fee for the drink. When my order arrived, there was a passoff from the cook to the lady who'd taken my order. She never checked the order to ensure quality. When I got home, there was no bacon! I was already running late because of the wait and didn't have time to go back right away. Either she didn't follow procedure, or they need to develop one. Also, there was nothing notable about the French toast or the eggs. I expected more since they have the word "egg" in their name. Inexcusable. It definitely wasn't $16 worth of food! (My mom has chickens, so her eggs are much better and fresher than the eggs I had from Another Broken Egg Cafe.) While waiting, I did notice that although they were terribly crowded, they were really good about seating patrons rapidly. Also, the staff all seemed nice and the diners all seemed satisfied as they left.

The food was awesome!!! The service however piss poor. We got seated outside, shock was great since it was an amazing morning. After 10 minutes of waiting, while seated, I asked if we could have a server come take our order. When the server finally showed up, there was an awkward silence. So we said "yes we're ready to order". When our drinks showed up, we got water in to go cups. When the food showed up, it was spectacular. However, the server handed me my plate and it was hot. I almost dropped the plate. His response "oh sorry, it wasn't hot on my side". Our server seemed disinterested in being there. No sense of being a positive representative of the company. If the food wasn't so good, we would have left.

A "whoa buddy" simply will not suffice here, so I'm unveiling the "holy cow!" (in honor of my friend and mentor, Dr. Bob Baum). I was invited to one of the inaugural breakfast services here, and brought a couple of my best friends with me--and a meal this good should absolutely be shared with great people! We showed up honestly expecting a Bob Evans or Cracker Barrel, and what we got was a cozy mom-and-pop style restaurant, that I was shocked to discover is a chain of restaurants around the country. We arrived to a hostess who was warm, sincere, and in charge. We were immediately seated, and greeted by Sarah, who managed our dining experience until we walked out the door. We ordered drinks, which range on their menu from the coolest chocolate milk ever, to Mimosas, to an awesome selection of fine and organic hot teas. Even their coffee was a house blend, and very smooth. Our table ordered the Stan's Mardi Gras, the Floridian, and the Lobster Brie omelet. Each of them was in-cred-ible, and my Lobster Brie was (without-question) the best omelet I have ever had in my life. Ever. Oh, and their Mediterranean Potatoes are definitely worth the $1.50 extra. We were visited by the managers, who graciously allowed me to take photos for this review. Everything from start to finish was superbly done, and was everything you expect from a 5-star restaurant. The only thing they need to add is a nap with every meal. You may hate yourself after breakfast at a fast food joint, but you will high-five yourself and enjoy a great day after breakfast at Another Broken Egg! Thanks to Nick and his team for an amazing meal and experience!

"A" for originality, quality food, pleasant staff and atmosphere. A wee bit tight! Out door dining, so on a pleasant day that's a real nice plus for Jacksonville. Before 9 it seems to be busy. The Mediterranean potatoes are a great twist on the breakfast menus, not good if you plan on making out or talking to the boss.

I came here a few weeks ago and it was soooo good I had to come back for more. Came in around 11:45am hoping to beat the Friday lunch crowd. I was surprised to get seated as soon as we walked up. The weather was super nice and they have a really nice outside covered patio but decided to go inside and get a big booth (needed the space to do some work). This time around we had the Crabcakes Cavallo (one of their Signature Benedicts) and the Bacquezo (Ba-Key-Zo!) Omelette. Both were top notch. The Crabcakes Cavallo has jumbo lump crab cakes, poached eggs, andouille infused hollandaise sauce topped with red peppers and green onions. I had some fresh fruit on the side. The Bacquezo omelette was just as good. The wait staff was friendly and stayed on top of everything (i.e., topping off drinks, bringing hot sauce, etc.). The menu has a lot of other dishes that looked so good. Will be back again soon.

We've tried to get in to this restaurant three different times with more than an hour wait so we were really hoping for great things! on Valentine's Day we went and the wait was only 40 minutes so we decided to have brunch. The waitress was pleasant. My husband ordered the traditional breakfast which was two scrambled eggs, two pieces of bacon, and English muffin, and a quarter cup of fried potatoes. I had the lighter side egg white omelette with asparagus. Once I picked out the entire head of garlic, 11 cloves of garlic were in my omelette, it was tasty. The fruit that came with it was very fresh but the melon was not quite ripe. The food didn't taste bad, there was just nothing special about it. There was nothing memorable other than having so much garlic in my omelette. my husbands was very average. We might go back some other time to try waffles or something special but for $30 I would've rather gone to J Alexanders for brunch. it just seemed overpriced. And did I mention we didn't even get refills? I had a Diet Coke and my husband had a coffee. Once our cups were empty they stayed empty and we didn't get water either. I guess we just missed what all the hype was about. The bathroom was clean. The inside of the restaurant seem to clean enough but there was no special ambience to it.

Would have to say I am not big into going out for breakfast as its usually simple food but I wasn't disappointed by this place. We found a free coupon for some benqetts which were amazing. Then I went with the burrito and was very good. Good sized and quality ingredients which is always a plus. We sat in the bar like area but you could see that the place wasn't very big and can see it getting packed on weekend breakfast rushes. The also had some outside seating which would be awesome as I live sitting outside. Besides the small size which didn't effect my visit the service was great and food was great. Little on the expensive side but worth it for the quantity and quality of the product. Would definitely go back again for sure just probably not on a Sunday morning.. Lol

Very cute little place. Food was great and service was speedy. We tried the sweet potato pancake and the cinnamon roll French toast. Both were delicious! Fresh berries on the side and we made it a combo with eggs and bacon and turkey sausage links. Highly recommend this place!

  • Ashleigh M.

The sausage gravy with the biscuits and gravy was good, but the biscuit's outside was incredibly stale. The house sausage was overcooked and over seasoned, very oniony. The blackberries and grits were a fresh idea. The honey marmalade with the beignets was delicious, but the beignets were overcooked. Basically the food was ok but the ideas of the dishes were better. We arrived at noon and our waitress didn't return after taking our order. Other people brought our food out and we flagged someone down for drink refills eventually. Management was awesome and took care of us, but it isn't a place that "wowed" any of us or I would pick out of breakfast spots in Jax to recommend or return to.

Clearly a popular, new breakfast desitination but definitely worth the wait. The outdoor patio looked like a great place to sit, but with a morning rain shower we opted to sit indoors which was beautiful too though a little too cold. We were so impressed with the menu selections, it was almost too difficult to choose. We settled on some breakfast appetizers of fried green tomatoes and city grits. Both were amazing. The city grits are really the star of the show, simply delectible, Creamy, smoked gouda grits, loaded with garlic (we had a few full cloves in ours), bacon, diced tomatoes, and green onions. The fried green tomatoes included a genrous portion of small, tangy, perfectly breaded and drizzled with a delightful sauce with goat cheese on a bed of fresh spinach and a crab cake centerpiece. The Floridian omlette was so good, filled with cream cheese and topped with a nice portion real crab meat, flavor sort of like a crab rangoon. The omeltte was so fluffy and perfectly cooked. We also tried the sweet potato pancake, which was so delicious with the pecans on top. We liked the local hot pepper sauce on the table and the really cute, locally handcrafted coffee cups. Sadly we did not get a coffee refill which was the only service point that was lost. The coffee was so good, we would have liked more. The only part of our meal that was not perfect and kept me from going the full five stars was the Mediterranian potatoes. For an upcharge these were really not any better from the regular potatoes. They were overcooked with onions that were burnt to a char and huge lumps of feta cheese that was really too overpowering. This was the only dish that we did not devour. We will definitely be back, but if we are going to sub a side, it will be for the delicious city grits. If I could have give partial stars for this review it would have been 4.75. Maybe next time.

For our first visit here, I had the Floridian omelet with side of hash browns. The omelet was excellent, but I found the potatoes a bit over cooked for my taste. My wife had the southwest chopped salad and said it was very good. Daughter in law had the cafe burger and gave it a thumbs up. Our granddaughter ordered the foster's waffle and left her plate empty. Service was right on and our server Brandy was very attentive. A definite four out of five stars. We will be going back.

Enjoyed a great brunch here. They have tons of great options for breakfast and lunch foods, even during the weekdays. I had the New Orleans omelette topped with a delicious tomato hollandaise and filled with crawfish shrimp and andouille. Try the Mediterranean potatoes and the city grits. Delish! He had the biscuits and gravy with the homemade sausage. Equally as good. Also, the house Bloody Mary was amazing. House infused pepper vodka, perfectly spicy and dressed with okra, celery, lime and carrot. Will definitely be back to try some of the other amazing things in their menu. Super cute NoLa atmosphere. Service was great as well. Randyl was a sweetheart. Thanks for a lovely meal Broken Egg!!

I visited the Broken egg Cafe because it was new and I wanted to see if it was a place that I could include in my lunch rotation. I ordered the grits and a burger with sun-dried tomatoes (I can't remember the exact name) I didn't like the burger too much. The grits were ok. I'm not an expert at grits I've only had grits probably 3 times. The positives are: The staff is friendly The food is fresh and flavorful. On the flip side the food took quite a while to get to our table so this might not be a good lunch spot for 60min lunches. I will probably go back and try something else. I think I just chose the wrong thing on the menu.

We'd been to Another Broken Egg a few times in Atlanta and were more than excited to see one open up in Jacksonville. The menu is the same and still great. The biscuit beignets are delish and The Floridian.... Wow. Big chunks of real crabmeat... Wow. The server was quick on her feet and very friendly. Here are my biggest complaints: The space is really small which makes Saturday am breakfast crowded with a fairly long wait which i dont mind and expect. Today our wait was quoted at 40 min but it was more than an hour. What i saw were several tables opening up but not getting bussed and cleaned for another five minutes. The turnover time was very long and more frustrating than anything was that the staff Didn't seem to be in a hurry to get the growing crowd seated as quickly as they could. They didn't seem to feel like it was a priority. I only saw one busboy for the entire restaurant and the hostesses would help clear the empty table very minimally. On a Saturday morning, i would think they would be a little more on their game. Once seated, the rest was great

Absolutely yummy! We went at 10:45 on a Sunday morning and were sat in about 25 minutes. Our server was fast and friendly. I had the Bacquezo omelette and it was delicious. I never would have thought about putting cream cheese in an omelette, but I will definitely add that in the future! The chorizo was fantastic. My husband had the Southern Crabstack. He thought it was really good, but the grit cake could have had a little flare. It was slightly bland. The shrimp, sausage, crab meat, bread, and sauce were delicious. He would have liked a little more sauce to be able to dip the bread in after he finished. Overall a great Sunday Brunch. We will definitely be back because there were so many items on the menu that we want to try!

I can say that they did a little better on this trip. I did have to ask for a bar towel to wipe up a sticky spot on the bar. The place was close to empty again and it will take a bit to get the word out. Today I ordered a Marti Gras omelet with shrimp, crawfish and Andouille sausage. The eggs were cooked right and fluffy with plenty of fillings. The sausage is still out of the package and the shrimp out of a bag. The sausage had some flavor and the shrimp were not killed in the pan. It was a good breakfast and better then my first visit.

I have been here three times and each time I have gotten the Lobster Rolls. I love how they serve the lobster salad on a sliced, toasted baguette. It's hard to do this place in an hour because they are either busy or the service hasn't been top notch, but if I have some extra time I don't mind using it for lunch at this spot because the food more than makes up for it.

Good food. Great presentation. Impressive menu. OK service for its busy first week. The Floridian omelette was nice and the crab meat gave it an extra twist.

Breakfast eateries are growing more and more popular on weekends in Jacksonville. Another Broken Egg Cafe is located in the Tapestry Park area, which naturally generates a large influx of patrons. I arrived on a Sunday around mid-morning, about 10:30 am, and the line for the wait was practically wrapped around the building. I'm not sure how long the establishment has been in business, but over the past few months I've heard a lot of talk about the restaurant. This is one of those places that might need to start working on reservations - it was THAT packed. I ended up waiting over an hour to be seated for a party of two. While we were waiting to be seated, there were about 3 tables that remained dirty for about 30 to 45 minutes on the patio area before someone came to clean them. When this was brought to the host's attention, they replied with a very dry, "I know," rather than sending someone over to clean them. Someone should be on top of that and ensuring tables are constantly being cleaned and reset so that others can be seated swiftly. There were 2 additional tables along the side of the restaurant that patrons could dine at, however, other guests who were waiting to be seated sat there to avoid standing. I didn't have an opportunity to dine on the inside of the restaurant. We were seated in the uncovered section of the patio without an umbrella which was very hot, as you could imagine. I believe the restaurant should consider extending the awning a little further to provide more shade, especially as the warmer months approach. As far as food and service goes, although the wait to be seated was long, the food arrived promptly. I'm a fan of waffles so I decided on the Belgian Waffle combo with turkey sausage. I must add that I was very pleased with the quality and quantity of healthier options on the menu! The waffle was nice and light and slightly crispy served with powdered sugar. The menu also included fruit topping options for waffles and pancakes. I will return to Another Broken Egg again to try out more menu items and compare wait times on different days of the week. Overall, I was pleased.

Hmmm... How do I put this? Ok, simply amazing (to keep it PG13). Had to wait about 20 mins but what do you expect from a recently (had been open for 3 weeks at this time) opened awesome belly pampering restaurant. Extra kudos for our server. He "loves questions", was very attentive and friendly. I started up with a Bloody Mary. Made with their home infused spicy vodka, WOW! We were very pleased with every plate we ordered. I was there two days ago and going back today and I'm not even from Jacksonville. DO IT!!!

My mom & I love breakfast here! We always go on weekdays at off hours and never have to wait. The service is always great and the food is even better. The portions are huge so we always split an appetizer and a breakfast. The fried green tomatoes and breakfast beignets are amazing. I've also had the sweet potato pancake which is massive and so delicious. Another favorite is the lobster & Brie omelet. It's very rich & decadent so it's definitely a good one to share. It is a little pricey but I honestly think it's worth it

Great menu and amazing food, even the coffee is good. Perfect place for breakfast or brunch rain or shine.

I got the beignets and the brie. The beignets were delicious and the honey adds a nice touch to it. The brie was ok, but that's just me. It wasn't bad, but I like another place a little better.

Friendly service, food quality was excellent. Family friendly, reasonably priced too. I had the southwest scrambler which I thoroughly enjoyed: fresh guacamole, fresh scrambled eggs, well seasoned potatoes... all worked well together.

We had the best meal at this restaurant. Our waitress, Suzi, was AWESOME!!! She was funny, engaging and very attentive. I recommend everyone to check this place out. The City Grits are amazing!!!!

Sadly, we never even got to try the food, although it looks delicious. We had a reservation for a party of 12. Some friends were visiting from Tampa and we all wanted to meet up for Sunday brunch. One woman in our party was pregnant, we also had two infants and a toddler. We waited patiently for 45 minutes to be seated (even though we had a reservation) and were then told that we could not be accommodated. They could seat us separately, but not together. Since the purpose of going out to brunch was for us all to be together, sitting separately wasn't all that appealing. I watched as tables cleared and were re-seated for the better part of an hour. Those tables easily could have been held and pushed together for us. Either the staff was too inexperienced and didn't know how to manage both a busy restaurant and a large party, or they simply didn't want to serve us. I could understand if we had just showed up, but we specifically called ahead and reserved a time for our group. We tried to eat somewhere else, but by then the kids were hungry, tired and cranky. It ruined our whole Sunday.

The food is great. Very creative - more than just your usual omelet with some sort of breakfast meat, which you can get anywhere. I like the Hey Lucy! omelet - a bit heavy but very tasty with chorizo and avocado. My friends ordered the veggie omelet and the oatmeal, both of which were also very good. So the food itself rates five stars, but the service is even better. Our server, Eric B, was very helpful with menu recommendations and kept our drinks filled. He was also very entertaining and helped make it a very fun breakfast. I was also impressed when our high-maintenance friend sent her grits back for being not warm enough. Not only did our server promptly bring a replacement, but the manager came by to apologize and to make sure that we were otherwise okay. I just think that's good service. Definitely the best breakfast option on that side of town - looking forward to trying it for lunch.

I was visiting the area so we decided to try this place. It looked cute. At first glance, it looks like a great menu. We tried the beignets, which were biscuit beignets, different, but good. I had The Floridian. I was very excited for it, it sounded great from the menu: a cream cheese filled omelette with garlic sautéed crabmeat on top. I thought the omelette itself was very bland. If it wasn't for the garlic sautéed crabmeat and green onions on the top, there would have been no flavor. It would have been much better of the crab was on the inside. The coffee was just ok. Overall, I was not very impressed. It was warm and humid inside, in March! Most of the items on the menu looked overpriced. I probably won't return.

What a stop! Besides the unique menu, our server Anthony was amazing. He helped me when I had trouble choosing and when I ordered way too much he helped me box it up. I love breakfast food but husband does not so hubby was happy to see he could order a salad at 9:15. What a salad: Chicken, spinach, and quinoa! I ordered the Beignet Biscuits and Honey Marmalade- amazing! Took half of it home. Delicious! I also ordered the Mediterranean potatoes with my eggs. Although husband does not like feta cheese, he loved these as much as I did. The coffee and tea were wonderful and the interior decor delightful. As they serve breakfast and brunch I will be making a point to visit every time I am in Jacksonville.

I've been here twice on the weekend and there is usually a wait unless you are there when they open. The beignets are an amazing starter. The orange marmalade (with peels included) is my favorite. The breakfast potatoes and egg sandwich are delicious and the coffee is good. I've also tried the hamburger which was just alright. Staff were friendly and the restaurant is clean. Prices were in line with other full service breakfast places around town.

Wow! Great brunch on a busy Saturday morning. The staff were wonderful...seated us and kept the coffee and water topped off. Thought there would be a long wait for our meal due to the crowd, but everything came out very quickly. We enjoyed the Popeyes scramble, the Hey Lucy and a cinnamon roll. All were delicious. Wish there was one closer to us!

Try the Fried Green Tomato BLT. Awesome! Restaurant was nice and clean. Service was quick and pleasant. Great choice for breakfast or brunch.

  • Andrew S.

Not too impressed, but that may have something to do with the face that mine was a takeout order, but that really shouldn't matter. Ordered the traditional eggs Benedict, and holy salt! The ham was a gargantuan slab of meat that was probably 1/2" thick, tough and incredibly salty. Once I put that aside the rest was decent - nice job poaching the eggs, but the hollandaise was kinda watered down. Overall wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't for the ham!

  • Terrence T.

The cheese eggs, bacon & cheese grits were pretty good. The coffee (although in a great looking mug), was not that great... The service was good but not great. Honestly, I think it was only like that because they were EXTREMELY busy. If I go there on a less busy morning & I think he food & service will both be great...

  • Abdul Wahab H.

The food is delicious. The only downside is the long line to get you seated. But maybe because if was Sunday and it was brunch time. I highly recommend southern crabstack.

  • Ed W.

Really good. The food was prepared nicely. I asked for crispy potatoes, and they were crispy. The sausage patties were just so-so, but the omelet was well prepared. The coffee refills were a bit slow, but the server came and liberated my English muffin after I had buttered it, put jelly on it, thought about it, but unfortunately, before I had a chance to eat it. I mean, that muffin disappeared before I got even a single bite. It looked good ... perhaps so good the server couldn't resist it and wanted it for herself. I mean dude, I am not mean, all she had to do was ask, I would have been happy to share.

  • Tanya B.

It's good. Everything was fine and okay. Really fried food. But that's most breakfast places in Jax. Looking or something more gourmet. A lil over priced. It's not bad, but we probably won't be back to soon. Like a Denny's meal with a better presentation.

  • K A.

Place and menu looked interesting so decided to try it out. Sunday was busy, as to be expected. Decided to sit at the bar vs wait 45 mins, for a table. Not a good choice. Service was mediocre, at best. Got coffee...had to ask for a spoon 5 mins later...got water....had to ask for a straw....got a refill later....had to ask for more sugar/cream. Ordered an appetizer...had to ask where it was AFTER they brought our main meal. What we didn't have to ask for is our check. That came very quickly and without asking. Turns out that it was no busier than any other Sunday so this type of service may be the norm. Food was ok. Homestyle potatoes were too salty and hard (deep fried). Pecan pancakes were good but like CB's better. SW omelette was flavorful. Coffee was bitter. Maybe it would be better to try them out during the weekday...we'll see.

Great breakfast, but a little to fancy. And a little pricey. Wasn't expecting that when we decided to go. With that being said, wife had pancakes and I had two egg combo. Both were really really good. But not worth coming back for.

This place is one of the few that left me not wishing I had gone to Metro Diner instead! The environment was clean and cozy with tons of outdoor seating, the waiter was polite and attentive, and the food was good. Appetizers are affordable and tasty, and waitstaff clarifies whether you want it first or with your meal. Try the beignets with marmalade dip or the cinnamon bun. We enjoyed the Floridian omelette. The eggs tasted fresh, stuffed with cream cheese, and loaded with crab and a bit of green onion. It was simple and satisfying. The country potatoes were not a greasy plate-filler! They were crisp home fries worth nibbling. We savored the sweet potato pancakes in spicy syrup with toasted nuts and whipped cream; a balance of flavor that made it a worthy breakfast entree. The coffee was passable but not amazing, though the hand thrown mugs were charming and kept the java hotter due to a narrowed mouth. We will be back to try the Benedicts and wraps. In short, if you are on the Southside, this is the place for your "fancy sit down" breakfast.

Beignets!! Yum! Their beignets are like donut holes compared to the traditional. Skillets are delicious. They have a bar in case you needed a Bloody Mary to cure your hangover. Will eat here again.

We have been to Another Broken Egg Cafe four times, and we were pretty happy with our dining experience every trip. We've tried a number of items including sweet appetizers like cinnamon roll and beignets to traditional breakfast plates to waffle sliders and specialty brunch items like Southern Crabstack. We also really enjoyed some of the side items like their Mediterranean potatoes and city grits. Overall, everything was pretty good, the atmosphere is warm and staff is friendly. This is now one of our go-to breakfast / brunch place that is in our weekend rotation.

  • Grace C.

It was crazy busy. I got to sit at the bar so I didn't have to wait long at all. It took the server a couple minutes to get to me but I understood she was busy. I had the Black Bean Cake Benedict which was amazing!! Loved the chipotle hollandaise and I also got a side of there homemade sweet and savory sausage which was good as well! I would deff go back!!!!

Thought this looked like a nice place with a unique menu. Unfortunately, that was just on paper...speaking of paper, that's what the food tasted like. After waiting over 35 minutes for our food, I received a sandwich on bread so soggy that when I tried to pick it up, it literally fell apart all over my plate. My husband ordered the Southern Crab Stack and to say it was completely flavorless is an understatement. Horrible service and food. First visit was a mistake so certainly will never go back.

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I didn't leave with a memorable part of my meal. Food was salty. Pancakes tasted a little like dough, I actually started pulling it apart to make sure it was cooked throughout. Plastic plates...I am paying for a meal and experience. I did like that they have adult beverages and service wasn't bad. I'm a huge fan of First Watch and will drive further to enjoy a great tasty breakfast.

Absolutely love this place. Food is great, management is AMAZING. Outdoor seating and a comfortable inside, though you may have to wait a bit on weekends. You can even buy one of their cute mugs ceramic mugs, just ask. They have creative, unique breakfast foods and great brunch cocktails.

Another broken egg gone bad. The restaurant is nice looking, however the food was pretty gross. There was a 40 min wait so we sat at the bar. Grateful to have a seat, we looked over the menu. The staff had good things to say about the food. We chose the lobster omelet, fried green tomatoes, and biscuits with gravy. The food and app arrived at the same time, and my guess is because they forgot about it. It was burnt. Burnt green tomatoes. The English muffin with the omelet was floppy and tasteless. The omelet wasn't bad. The biscuit and gravy seemed like something you'd buy and mix at home. There's just no creativity. The bartender looked frustrated, and after tasting the food we vowed not to come back. It isn't a cheap breakfast place either. The bill was almost $50.

  • Ashley D.

My husband and I love going out for brunch and I've wanted to give Another Broken Egg Cafe a try ever since I first saw it. We got there at 11:30 this past Saturday and they were busy, but we barely had to wait to be seated. I ordered the Chez B omelet (caramelized onions, peppers and feta - yes please!) and added bacon to it, he got the Stan's Mardi Gras omelet. The food was excellent, and based on that we will definitely be back. The only down side to the experience is that we were all but ignored by our waitress. The only time we got a coffee refill was when a different server dropped off our food. When we were finished with our meal we waited for at least 20 minutes to get our check. I would have flagged her down, but even though she was in our general area several times, our server didn't so much as look in our direction.

I have been to the original broken egg and many others in Florida. This location wasn't my favorite, but it was still quite tasty. I had the Floridian omelet which is my another broken egg go to! The reason this was not my favorite broken egg was because the service was just okay. Not attentive. Now since this is the first time I have been to this location it could be just an off day for the staff, but I really love another broken egg so you better believe I will be back now that we have one so close by!! I recommend you give this place a try! :)

Just got back from brunch here with my wife. Excellent service and food, we were seated right away and our waitress was excellent. Better than what I expected for a brand new restaurant, and way better than the crappy service at nearby Corner Bistro. Inside seating is limited, so we sat outside on their spacious patio and enjoyed a Hey Lucy omelette and Benedict biscuits with some biscuit beignets. Highly recommend, we will be back soon!

Had the Lobster and Brie omelet, Mediterranean potatoes, breakfast chorizo, bacon and (because we are gluten free) 2 small gluten free pancakes. Everything was amazing! The service was spot on. Matt took great care of our table for four.

February is Red Velvet Cake Pancakes in honor of Valentine's Day. OMG!! You have to get them. Another incredible visit. Brought three people and we all tried something we've never had there. AMAZING!! Fried Green Tomatoes, Cinnamon Roll French Toast, Black Bean Benedict, Waffle and of course Red Velvet Cake pancakes!!! Thank you Nick and Eric for starting our Saturday off great. Never a disappointment.

Always love coming to another broken egg when I come visit here! Love the healthy options, notably the quinoa and granola bowl and veggie omelette, and you can always get a bottomless cup of coffee served in their signature mugs. Good service for a breakfast joint and the menu has something for everyone to enjoy!

Great little breakfast place to get you started before you hit the road. Service was great, food was as promised but the only thing we didn't like was the portions were small (we had eggs benedict" and "baquezo" which tasted great) and the OJ was not fresh squeezed and as a breakfast restaurant that is an absolute must in our book. Prices are fairly reasonable. Other than that a place anyone will definitely enjoy.

Very impressed. Ordered the banana fosters french toast and it was among the best I have had. The home fries were on point. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. We will be back.

I am in town for business and didn't wanted to eat at the hotel. Did a quick Yelp! Search and found this place. After a short 3 minutes driving I was there and had a hard time to find a parking spot. To me that is the first sign of a great eatery. Then I parked my car, there were around 25-30 people waiting outside. Walked in, they said if I can wait for couple of minutes I can find a seat at the bar. Just like they said a couple left and I sat to bar. I ordered traditional breakfast with scrambled eggs and bacon and a cafe au lait. The coffee was very tasty, liked it a lot. After few minutes my breakfast plate came and everything on it was looking perfect. Bacon was a little more saltier than I like mine but that's ok, they also serve it with potatoes, I usually eat few pieces of potatoes but this was so good amd I ate it all. Definitely will come back to try their pancakes too and again their coffee is to die for.

  • Brooks B.

Food is great here, but service is not. I've been three times and all times servers have been slow to check back on our table even when not crowded. Additionally, it feels like as customers we are not the main focus - rather they have to make time for us. Coffee refills didn't happen yesterday until we asked two times and the second had to ensure we had her full attention. I'm sure it will improve! Food is terrific! Will be back.

  • Jean O.

First time here.... Many interesting menu items like lobster and Brie omelette. I just had a basic breakfast and it was good. Prices are on the high side, but that seems to be everywhere now a days. Like another reviewer I didn't care for the coffee. Will have to check it out for lunch one day.

  • Paulette S.

Everything from the coffe, to the beignets, to the main course was on point; there wasn't a thing we ordered we didn't like. However, the service was sub par and very slow, which I attribute to them just recently opening. Needless to say, I will definitely be coming back to try more items on the menu; going through Another Broken Egg Cafes instagram account makes me want to try the whole menu!

Had breakfast on their second day of being open. The hubs had pancakes-very tasty but about 30 seconds too dark for our taste. I had biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs and potatoes. Biscuits and sausage are "house made" and tasted so, gravy is southern and yummy. Potatoes and eggs pretty standard but well seasoned. Only four stars because the coffee was bitter and not as tasty as I usually like, but that's my personal preference. We will be back for sure!

Best Omelette I've ever had... Called the Hey Lucy... This is my new breakfast spot ... Manager was very nice and spoke to us about the restaurant and how they work.. Nice local feel on the inside.. Does not have the feel of a chain restaurant.. Totally made us feel like we had been coming there for years.. I love food and this joint is definitely on my list now. Great Service too

I'm a huge fan of breakfast, so I was excited to try this place out. We had a mimosa at the bar, then got seated after about 20 min. I started with the fried green tomatoes... Best ever. Then I got the French toast. Even better. Our server (Shaylee?) was great, our drinks were always full, and the atmosphere was really nice. Even the manager (Nick) dropped by to make sure everything was great. No complaints here! If only I could eat here every day :) Trust me, it's well worth the wait!!

Good food, SLOW and lacking service. Items were left off our order, we had to ask for refills on coffee (more than once for a single refill) . We have been to other Another Broken Egg before and always had a great experience, sadly this visit was not one of those. Our waiter did not seem to really even care, which is unfortunate for such a good spot for breakfast. And it was not that busy inside (some empty tables inside and outside, so his lack of responsiveness had nothing to do with how busy it was)

My husband and I decided to try this new franchise this morning and were quite happy we did! On our server's recommendation, I had the pancakes (light and fluffy, as she described them) and he got the steel cut oatmeal, which comes with berries and honey--he loved it! We'll definitely return! The lunch menu looked interesting as well.

Stopped in to break away from the standard hotel breakfasts and it turned out to be a great choice. I was promptly served, food came out quick and hot. I had the buttermilk pancakes and eggs. Coffee was actually quite good as well. Not your standard warehouse brand. They even offered me a to-go cup. Found out as I left they just opened three days prior. So even in a time when they're working out the bugs they won me over.
