We arrived to meet friends on Saturday night. We were stopped at the door by the bouncer who said "we are at capacity". Plenty of standing room inside. I could see an open table from the door. I waved to my friends, they came over and asked if we could come in. He said no. Meanwhile, no less than 10 people walked around us and into the place without him saying a word. I don't play games and I'm an adult. I can take my money and business elsewhere. I won't set foot in there and will watch it close like everything else that has been there - I live in Jax beach and like to spend my money here. I'll be across the street at Green Room where you get treated right.

Little slow but not unbearably, I would recommend sitting at the bar and not a table for better service. I'm sure they will only get quicker the longer they are open. Pretzel was good and the they had a decent beer selection on tap, could prob stand to have more variety of types of beer though. Good place to chill and have a couple beers.

Way too understaffed. I ordered food and still didn't have it two hours later. I complained and an hour later still didn't have my food. Finally left with no food, starving at 1030pm. Horrible service do not go here!

I am so glad that WOB Jax Beach is finally open!!! The staff is super friendly and they are always recommending new beers to try. The food is the perfect compliment to the cold craft beer, my favorite is the mac & cheese. I can't wait for the summer when I can stop in for a drink after a day on the sand!

Such an amazing place and atmosphere! The food here is phenomenal. I love that I can come have a nice cold beer right after a day on the beach.

Rename this place "Out of Beer" out of 3 of the first 4 beers we ordered off the iPad - frustrating. It is the reason to come here - other than the giant soft pretzel

Terrible service. 5 bartenders standing around but no one actually working. Prob will never go back.

I checked this place out for a special event bringing a cask of unfiltered, unpasteurized Pilsner Urquell straight from Czechoslovakia for one night only. This is the nicest set up for a World of Beer I've been to anywhere, with convenient parking on the roof, a long bar and large windows they can open to let in the ocean breeze. The service was great, with a lot of friendly bartenders making sure I didn't wait for a refill. The selection is strong, though for tonight I was only drinking that spectacular fresh pilsner. Much to my surprise, there's a cask-conditioned beer served from a tap at the center of the bar. The current choice is Zeta Szechuan IPA, a local from Zeta Brewing in Jacksonville. Cask-conditioned beer, which is served from a cask without carbon dioxide or nitrogen pressure, is a traditional old-school way of serving beer that produces a unique smooth flavor and different tastes. I've been looking for cask beer in Jacksonville and St. Augustine for years after discovering it at the Wharf Rat in Baltimore's Fells Point, but no local places have been serving it regularly. Finding this one is great news. The bar also has an "Infusion Tower" -- a giant tube contraption in which unusual ingredients can flavor a beer as it is dispensed. The beer on my visit was Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA from California and the flavors were grapefruit and basil, which you could see floating in a glass jar. It looked like something out of a mad scientist's lair and I'm eager to try this out. At some point they should put Datil peppers in that thing, since St. Augustine is known for them. An added plus for this location is the nearby Pita Pit sandwich place. I'm not yet sold on World of Beer's new food menu, so it's nice to have a restaurant close by to extend an evening before you're ready to make the trek home.

I love WOB, and I get they are newly opened! The service here is horrible!!! I've been here twice and both times it takes forever for anyone to even notice two or three peoples empty glasses! Not a good deal when people come here to try a bunch of different beers! This place could be awesome but defiantly needs some work on the management!

Kind of cool place with a ton of beers on tap, which is nice. However, the food leaves something to be desired and the pricing is a little high. I definitely like the vibe of the one in Tinsel Town better than this one. The beach one is just a little less cool, in my opinion. A lot of people don't like the glasses that the beers come in, but I don't mind them that much. May try this place again, but not sure.

It's never my choice when we end up coming here, but I think everyone else finally saw why this morning. The service is consistently bad. This morning we had 8 people come in for brunch, half of the group arrived before us and placed their drink & food order, when we got there about 15 minutes after them we placed ours. I received my drink and food before 6 people in the group even received their drinks, yet I was one of the last people there. No one brought us silverware, I walked up to the bar and asked for them. The only thing that was fast was the server opening up the tab. She said it wasn't her fault when we reminded her about the two mimosas that were taking well over 15 minutes to get, but it kind of was. The restaurant isn't very big. Almost all of us have worked or still work in the service industry. She was just slow. My friend asked for a Fat Tire draft, after ten minutes with no drink she reminded the server, the server then said "we are out of the draft, but I can grab you a bottle." Oh... Okay! But why didn't you already do it!! After about five minutes the server came back and let her know they were completely out of Fat Tire and to choose something different. It wouldn't have mattered that they were out, it's just the fact that it took 15 minutes for her to tell us. The only reason I do come here on the off chance is because the kitchen seems to be way above everyone else. They are on their A game. They get the food out in a timely manner and it's right every time. Food is great, service isn't worth it. Plenty of other places have great food in Jax rather than having to deal with getting upset over how poor their service is.

Very disappointed! Service was extremely slow. Tried to talk to a manager and he just looked like a deer in the headlights with nothing to say. Not planning to come back anytime soon. Embarrassed that I brought my friends here.

WOB is really nothing special. A lot of my friends in Jacksonville come from places that already have a WOB, but this was my first time going to one. Considering that I live walking distance, I was really excited. It didn't take long for that excitement to fade. Here's the thing - you'll only be impressed by the beer selection if you consider Blue Moon an adventurous craft option. I'm not trying to be a beer snob, but between Zeta, Hoptinger, Blind Rabbit and Green Room you can get the same if not a better variety within a 3 block radius and sans the crappy corporate atmosphere. If any of you reading this review watch 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia', it is the exact same as the "Suds" bar from the second to last season. Just an Applebee's that serves craft beer and an overwhelming amount of forced happiness form the employees. Now for actual details, the service is hit or miss. I've only sat at the bar, and sometimes it's been great, others quite bad. For me, it has depended on the amount of attractive girls I'm with. The only food I've had are a few tots, which were good, but tater tots are foolproof. One thing that irks me about WOB's corporate philosophy is their liquor policy. One day, I had already eaten more than enough and didn't need the calories of an IPA, so I just got a vodka soda. The bartenders are forced to use a miniature jigger which didn't even look like a 1oz pour to make the drink, which cost $6 or $7 for well. A 10oz pour of Green Flash Palate Wrecker (perhaps my favorite beer) was around $7.50 as well which is nuts. Maybe I'm ranting a bit too much about this, but I really really don't like going to WOB when I could be supporting somewhere local. My friends are hard to convince however, and they have a point. I can't give 1 star to a place that has a lot of good beer. But having a lot of crafts is no longer special like it used to be, so WOB has lost its novelty in my eyes.

Went to the bar for happy hour and it took over 10 minutes for a server to acknowledge us. When he did come over he was helpful and offered a sample of a couple of beers. Was pleased with the beer choice. We also ordered the brat sliders - which were quite tasty. Will give it another try.

I really didn't see anything special about this place and the beer selection wasn't the span that I imagine would come with the name. More pale ale than anything but I'm glad they had a liquor license so you have another route you can go to. They do have food but I didn't venture that far.

I went in tonight and was excited to see what they had on tap. We met Jeremy a cool guy with a red beard. He listens to what I wanted to drink and gave me some really great selections. He knows his beer. It is nice to see some actually know their job.

In my original review I gave WoB 4 stars, figuring it's a 5-star beer selection with 2-3 star food and service. So I wasn't expecting to have to do this (especially so soon), but then, I've also never walked out of a bar before after 30 minutes without a beer. Let me tell you a tale: 5:00 pm: My coworker and I order two Green Flash IPAs. (They had Green Flash! I was excited!) 5:10 pm: 4 other coworkers arrive and join us. 5:13 pm: After almost 15 minutes, the server arrives to tell us that they are out of Green Flash. We order some other Imperial IPA instead, and our server ignores the 4 other people while he takes our new order, puts it into the computer, and THEN comes back for them. 5:20 pm: Two beers arrive. They are given to two of my other coworkers. I ask where the two ORIGINAL beers are. The server insists those are their beers, not ours, and says there must have been a mistake on the ticket. 5:27 pm: Our beers arrive. They look awfully cloudy. They're in pint glasses, not smaller snifters, like the menu had detailed. They're wheat beers, which is what my two other coworkers had ordered. No wonder they liked their "wheat beer" order so much - they were our IPAs. So: It took almost a half an hour to get a glass of the wrong beer. This was 5pm on a Wednesday. I had plenty of time to do a head count. 36 patrons, 10 staff members. What is going on with this place? I have other questions. Why does the server need to write down a 2-beer order (of the same beer) in order to walk 15 feet with his handwritten note and type it into a computer screen? Why does the server not know the difference between a pint of wheat beer and a snifter of IPA, even to the point of insisting he's correct? There's no reason to go to this place. It's a regional chain that's overengineered and undertrained. Give your dollars to Green Room, or Blind Rabbit, or Zeta, or Brix (all are within a block of here). Maybe they'll get their act together, but somebody else can be the guinea pig for that, because I'm done.

Personally I had a great time at this World of Beer location. Though I wasn't drinking, their food is awesome! The bar pretzel is amazing in the mustard and bar cheese. My fav had to be the black and blue flat bread though. I am a sucker for anything with mushrooms and onions but at steak and blue cheese and i am in heave. It was delicious! The staff were very attentive and sweet.

Well I cracked the seal at a place I didn't think I'd be visiting any time soon. My distaste for franchised beer joints like this while surrounded by great local breweries was on my mind the whole time I was in WOB. We came here for brunch, which was surprising to me because 1) I didn't know this place had food and 2) I didn't think they would have Bloody Marys or Mimosas, judging from the name. To my surprise they had both. Didn't realize the wobbler picked up a liquor license at the beach. We arrived around 11:10. Not sure if it's standard protocol but no one greeted us at the door. The servers looked a bit scatter brained. No big deal, we found a great table for 8 on our own by an open window. Sweet. It took about 15 minutes to get greeted and some coasters placed in front of us. Don't order the signature bloody mary, it's the same as the regular (Tito's and zing zang) just with some extra garnish, but it's twice the price ($12). Had I seen a menu before ordering I wouldn't of got it. It was about 15 more minutes before the drinks showed up, but no big deal, we were waiting for 4 more people. About 45 minutes into our visit we finally got to order. We went with the breakfast tacos and tater tots. Didn't take too long to receive it and to my surprise, they were good! Flour tortillas, lightly toasted with bacon, eggs, and cheese in them. They also have a few ipads with the world of beer app on them that serves as a menu. Great concept, except half way through our visit another server came to take it to another table. Maybe invest in some more? It honestly wasn't that busy. So overall, will I go back? Maybe, but it won't be my first choice at the beach. The atmosphere and the space were pretty cool, but the service was pretty bad. I understand it was only there 7th day open but come on, if you're going to offer sunday brunch you have to be prepared for a crowd. It seemed under staffed. I give the location and interior 5/5 but the poor service really deters me from going back. I'll update if I ever go back.

The name of this place is very misleading: It should not be "World of Beer" it should be "World of Pale Ale" ...even then, it wouldn't be my choice to come here. I'm going to focus on the lack of beer selection in this review, not the terrible, terrible, terrible (that's 3 terribles) service. So many beers, yet so little beers! This place is nothing but a chain...best thing on the food menu is the pretzel, but honestly, I think people liked the way the pretzel looked when it came out more than its taste. If you love a good, cold lager, this is not the place for you. However, if you love pale ales and giant pretzels, this may be the place for you. 3 lagers on draft, and only one is true..... We're down for the pale ale movement, but if you are going to have a name like "World of Beer" you should have beer better represented! It's blasphemy otherwise... It's been decided that next time we'll stick to Engine 15, E Street or the new biergarten that opened up on the beach next to shim sham. Unlike this place, they all have better selection, excellent service and reasonable prices. This place needs a quick lesson on how quality will beat down quantity, and the art of customer service or it won't last. They may draw people in just because the name is familiar and it's on the beach, but that won't carry a business when there are so many better places to go to.

If I could give this place half of one star, I would. It was THAT BAD, the service that is. We waited 15 minutes to even be acknowledged, and once we chose our drinks, things went downhill rapidly. The place wasn't even busy. Yes, I realize they just opened, but I swear they just dragged people off the streets and said "you're a server". My fiance finally got his beer (after the waitress came back twice to tell him his choices weren't available). On the other hand, my flight of local beers was nowhere to be found, and neither was our server. I asked another server about my beer and she said she "would look into it". After 50 (YES, FIFTY) minutes, I got my flight (4 4 ounce pours of local brews). The 2nd server said she would send the 1st server back to tell me what I was drinking. I politely declined as I didn't want anyone else waiting longer than necessary for their drinks. Our friends did the bottomless mimosa/bloody mary lunch, but they both ended up only having 2 because the server would not replenish their drinks. The manager, Steve, stopped to ask us about our experience, and he probably wished he hadn't. He comped my flight, and asked us to give them another chance (that's NOT going to happen). As we were walking out, I saw a receipt on a table and across the top of the receipt it read "TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!". We actually laughed about it all afternoon. I don't understand why our visit was such an epic fail. This isn't World Of Beer's first rodeo. Good luck to them...they are going to need it! We will be taking our dining/drinking dollars elsewhere!

Went there again last night and the service was REALLY bad, I mean, really really bad. I don't blame the server so much as I do the kitchen. Took 20 mins to get one order of fried pickles with the place no where near full, practically crickets. Please wob, I love your beer, get it together.

This is my favorite chill spot at the beach. Also, the bottomless beermosas and mimosas during Sunday brunch is amazing

I have been going to wob for a long time and I am so excited to see the opening at the beach. The GM and staff are very accomodating. They have a craft beer and full alcohol menus and bruch specials on Sunday. ....THe facilities are beautiful with open windows and smooth sounds. In addtion there are differrent theme nights thoughout the week. If you have not ben you need to go. Make sure you stop in and say Hi to Jess and Chris....

We were there on a Thursday night. There were only a few other customers there. They had a guy playing live music and it was very loud and he was not great. Also, we ordered 19 different beers that they were out of, but had posted on their chalkboard. This should be called the Municipality of Beer

Great selection. Great knowledge of beer by the staff. Sampled a "Suicide" of 49 draft beers mixed together -- not going to take the world by storm, but a great effort! Fun way to spend an afternoon at the beach.

Decent beer selection. Absolutely horrible service. Pretty mediocre food. Was hoping for more, but really no good. Just a chain restaurant. I cannot recommend this WOB at all.

This place has a lot of potential but still a lot to learn. Cool setup and huge drink selection. But the drink selection is overwhelming, especially because there are so many different menus. We got carded at the door by the bouncer ans again by our server at our table, which was anmoying. All of this would have been manageable, but the live music killed our experience. The place is pretty tiny, but they had a rock band playing at full level. We couldn't even hear each other when we screamed. We complained to our server several times about how unbearable it was, but he just told us that we would get used to it. We saw several other people come in and leave immediately because of the loud music. We eventually chugged our drinks and went to the Brix. They should wise up and ditch the loud rock shows.
