The price was right and the food was decent, but the service was incredibly slow. I'd skip lunch here. The walk-up coffee bar is the bright spot here. Cheap shots of cafe cubano in the morning before a long day at the Air Reserve Base are a sweet, sweet thing. DOn't expect friendly baristas, but the service is quick and the price is right.

The server who seated us brushed some crumbs off the table using the menus. He should have asked us to wait a moment and cleaned our table properly. Our server understood some English. I did not enjoy my meal or the appetizers. My chicken empanada actually had a chicken claw (nail type item) in it!!! Better croquettes and empanadas can be purchased from Publix (next door).

The food is good, when it gets delivered to your house on time. I waited 1&1/2 hours for my food to be delivered and it was ice cold! When speaking to a gentleman who claimed to be the manager, he was no help at all. He insisted the food would arrive at my house shortly, which shortly turned into an hour. They told me I would have a credit for the next time that i ordered and guess what.. NO freaking credit! The staff they have are terrible. They obviously do not know what customer service is about. When dining there the waitresses are very rude and you have to wait a long time to get a refill. Don't waste your time!
(1)Liz M.
Ordered take out .. I ordered the rabo and had chicken mixed in my meal.. Obviously they were recycling the sauces to make the "special" of the day.. Never again
(1)Sylvia S.
I took my family for dinner and most of us ordered the breaded steak...well it was mostly bread and little steak. We were all taken aback when we told the waitress that our meal was mostly bread. She asked the owner/manager to speak to us. She was defensive and told us we were not receiving a discount or refund...we never asked for a discount or refund. Disappointed by the service, we will not be back.
(1)Freddy S.
The price is great and portion are "Waaaaaay" enough to have you rolling out....the staff is very polite, the place is very well kept and your order comes out very quick. Go in hungry come out satisfied!!! Give it a shot you will not regret it....
(4)Paul S.
My wife is a big fan. I'm not there. Cuban pork sandwich was dry, good flavor. Big portions. Restaurant clean and spacious, good staff, i will try again
(3)Randy R.
Been coming to this place since the first day it opened i love this restaurant. I have eaten just about everything on their menu but if there is one plate I really like its the pork chunks with moro and fried plantains. Man its so well cooked and tender. A great cuban cuisine rich in flavor. Service here is always on point. You get sat quick, food order in, your butter bread and drinks. The waiters are nice and rarely get anchoring wrong.
(5)Ilka T.
I was craving some yummy Cuban cooking and was staying across the street at the Hampton Inn (which is very nice) and someone suggested this place. The staff is friendly and the place is really cute in the inside with the nice photos of Cuba. We were served with fresh Cuban bread which was delicious. We got the fried yuca which was served hot and just perfect with an amazing garlic sauce. Another app with a mix of things. I would highly recommend the pork chunks and the congris. The congris was a little crunchy but I like that. And the pork chunks are just amazing. The portions are big so keep that in mind when ordering but who doesn't love leftovers. :)
(4)Jobik K.
the slowest server. decent and hot -but forgetable- food. pork was served in my vegetarian sandwich...remedied quickly. try the cream cheese flan. bathrooms = B-
(2)Kevin J.
Been here many times & it is consistently great. Cuban sandwiches, pork, beef, seafood, sides.......
(4)Rob M.
Had the mangos chicken ... Was wonderful !
(4)Lazaro G.
I've only ever had breakfast here which is probably the best thing they offer because it's all day! The food usually comes out fast which is great. As far as the other Casavana's in the area go they do serve the smallest portions. Service varies, we've had good to bad servers a lot depends on the time of day. My biggest complaint is their military discount when they have it. I tend to ask every where I go, it's not really about the money saved more the principle behind it. That's why I have such an issue with it, every time I bring it up with the servers they get an attitude about it. It also varies you never know what the actual discount is.
(2)Jeannie W.
I am giving this rating 4-stars because of the food alone. The ambiance definitely makes this restaurant feel like the Chilli's of Cuban food. With that said, the food was outstanding and very reasonably priced. Portions are huge so you will definitely have lunch for the next day (or maybe two). The Masas de Puerco are delicious, as was the vaca frita (shredded steak). Both seasoned nicely and very tasty. I didn't try the breaded fish but was told they were great as well. Definitely not the place to go if you are looking for a cute, hole in the wall type place, but if you want good quality food at good prices, definitely worth a visit.
(4)Ozzy R.
Well...i just had my breakfast there as I do almost every sunday...I had the Casavan Bfast which comes with eggs(any way you want the) bacon, ham, or choriso, cuban toast, cafe con leche, and pankakes!!! It never dissapoints is all i can say...i have had almost all there menu and have lil or no complaints. The portions are good so you usually have 2 meals in one...lol...pastelitos are yum also... check it out if you down south!!!!
(4)Orlando S.
Given the few options around the area for real Cuban food, Casavana does a decent enough job. The measure for a good restaurant is in the staples and Casavana does it well. Decent pan con bistec, mariquitas, and frijoles negro. Points given to speedy delivery. Not as great as Casa Romeu or La Giradilla, but good enough to satiate the Cuban itch.
(4)Edward V.
Love this place. Great service/food. Must ck it out if in Homestead.
(5)Matthew M.
I recently stopped in to Casavana for breakfast on the way down to the keys. I found it to be an excellent value. The portions were large and quality was pretty good. The hostess was a bit**.
(4)Ryan B.
My first experience with Cuban food, and I was impressed for the most part. I ordered the beef fajitas, and the meat had pretty good flavor. However it's the bean that were really outstanding. The fries were pretty good also.
(4)Steve S.
Food was fast, nice sized portions, would definitely go again. Decent sized portions for the price. No complaints.
(4)Ibis D.
Never again well I go there the food was old I couldn't even finished my dinner with my daughter thank god she didn't get food poisoning but nop not going there there's other Cuban place with amazing food and low prices
(1)Gabriel G.
Specifically the Homestead location. Wow, have been coming here for years. Not sure what happened, but last 2 visits have been disastrous. Didn't know breakfast could be ruined, but they found a way. Way undercooked eggs, no butter on bread, barely any coffee for the cafe con leche. Waiters and waitresses seemed lost and confused. Even the manager seemed flustered like he didn't know what was happening. This place was awesome for years, not sure what happened but not going back.
(2)Rossi L.
I had ordered take out and waited about 20 minutes when they weren't even busy. I ordered the pollo a la plancha but the lady at the take out counter kept saying fritta!! I had to point it out to her on the menu because she did not speak very good english. Sure enough when I get back to work they had messed up my order! She gave me the frita! I ended up throwing it out the chicken look like scraps!! I never felt so disgusted! The salad didn't have dressing and they gave me 2 plantains as my side item!! Horrible all around!! I live in Hialeah so I know what good Cuban food taste like and this sure isn't it!!! I would Def not return!!!
(1)Erwin B.
Man how can you go wrong on a Cuban sandwich no pickles. 25 minute wait cold sandwich loaded with pickles. I also ordered it in Spanish their native tongue.
(1)Daniel B. O.
Your typical Cuban food; a bit overpriced. I had the Chicken Fricasse, which was ok at the time, but gave me a heartburn afterwards. Too much condiments.
(3)Denise C.
We had their signature Cuban chicken wrap and Cuban pork wrap. They were absolutely wonderful!. The wraps were loaded with sauteed onions, black bean paste and cilantro garlic sauce with the meat. Also served with plantains. I would highly recommend.
(5)Rick J.
Very dissapointing..... Came here with a huge group and just not what it use to be .... Sorry would not waste the money or time again....
(1)Lori R.
Great cuban food in the Homestead area. This place has really improved in the last few months, they were the restaurant that was hit and miss and not very consistant, but lately every meal I have here is an awesome experience. The chicken soup is great, always hot and full of veggies. The sandwiches are off the chain, and the vaca frita plate is amazing. The portions are huge, and the prices are reasonable. And, last but not least, the service is always very friendly, and fast. Very happy with Casavana
(4)Leslie G.
So this place i hear was born after the owner's of Sergios split. Not sure if there is any truth to that but i do notice the difference. I like Sergios better but i am still a fan. The decor is cute make's u feel as if you were in an Old Cuban Town. Staff speaks to you in Spanish. Service is almost always super fast. I dont enjoy the breakfast so much as i do lunch/Dinner. They serve a mountain of eggs which may be great for some ppl. But i personally was grossed out n didnt eat eggs 4 about 2 months after that. Favorite dish: Club Sandwhich, Pan Con Lechon & Pan Con Bistec Palomilla, Bistec de pollo, Carne Fajitas. Mariquitas Disliked: Vaca Frita & Chicharon de pollo.
(4)Adam M.
BEST VALUE IN THE US. For realz. I've never paid so little. Breakfast for 5 was like $35, and we couldn't even finish the portion sizes. The quality is there too. Just so you know, I dislike buffets and all you can eats, as quality is far more important to me than price. This place ROCKS for a cuban influenced breakfast.
(4)C E.
Good food, good prices. Nice decor. My favorite dish... the Vaca Frita and the fried Yuca for appetizer. I never have room for dessert, so no opinion there.
(4)Scott B.
Great prices. Awesome food. Clean restaurant. If you like Cuban, you should LOVE this place and must try it.
(4)Brian T.
Admittedly, I may have made some poor menu choices. But this is how it turned out..... Fried plantains (my experimental choice) were served room temperature. The sangria (my lushy choice) may have just been fruit punch with chopped apples in it. The grilled cheese sandwich (my familiar choice) consisted of two pieces of Wonderbread-esque toast with two pieces of unmelted Kraft singles cheese-ish slices in between. No butter was involved. Nor grilling. Wait, what did I just pay $28 for? zomg.
(2)ReVur A.
I thought this food was unique and tasty but a bit too oiled where it didn't need that. There was enough for take-out a second night. We enjoyed it as much just reheating. Anyway, I think I've had better Cuban food.
(3)Francisco M.
I live in Sunrise which, according to Google Maps, is approximately 62 miles away from this restaurant - and, personally, that's 61 miles too close for my comfort. Why? Because my first two experiences at this establishment are officially my last two. The first time we went there the place smelled like a urinal. I'm not talking about a freshly cleaned one either; I'm talking about the old Yankee Stadium pissing troughs that only got cleaned when some other guy pissed on pee residue to clean it off only to leave more residual piss for the next "clean-up" man. No joke, it was bad - I mean REAL bad, I'm talking stank high school locker room piss here. Appearently, it has something to do with the pipes...That should've been my one and only clue to not even entertain the notion of eating there... But, anyways, we somehow managed to get pass it and ordered a meal. It took the customer close to 15 minutes to come to our table and take our orders and, since we're paying waiters, I would've expected that she at least come to our table to take our drink order first. You read correctly, the service there was so bad that I felt like i was being forced to WAIT while the actual waitress was so accustomed to being there that she wasn't in no particular hurry to expedite our order. Whatever...let's eat. The food eventually came out and it was blah...been there, done that. However, my cousin ordered a choripan that - in all honesty - was more off the hook than back fat at a kosher butchershop. No lie, that sandwich was the only reason that 1 month later (while visiting the family) we decided to eat there again. At least it didn't smell like gutter piss this time! But unfortunately, everything else fell apart from there. To begin with, we went there for breakfast, I ordered the choripan and my wife ordered a cafe con leche and a cuban toast, my sister-in-law ordered a breakfast plate and my cousin ordered fried calamari fries. 35 minutes later my wife's simple order came and it looked like sh*t. Her "toast," if it so can be called, was so soggy that I thought they were playing "Toasty-flops" in the back with my wife's toast. What is "Toasty-flops" you ask? Well, that's when you take a piece of bread, butter it up real good, semi toast it for like 25 seconds - just enough to make it look crispy and then you place one of those little serving baskets by the wall across the room, place wax paper on top of the serving basket and, then stand across the kitchen attempting to splat the buttered side of the bread against the wall and have it slide down into the basket! It's a really hard game, so this is the only reason I can think of as to why it (1) took so long to get such a simple order out and (2) why the "toasted" bread looked more limp than Hugh Hefner without the Viagra. Just so you know, I made that up. But now you have an idea of what my wife was handed to eat. We asked to speak to the manager...10 minutes later she finally shows up, unapologetic, and rather indifferent and gets my wife a new toastier toast. AMAZINGLY IT DIDN'T TAKE 30 MINUTES THIS TIME!!!!! She was back out with a new order of toast in 5 minutes. I guess she must've told the cooks to stop playing "Toasty-flops." And, as for me. As for the reason that I had to put my wife and family through the grinder, as for the kick butt sandwich that I so wanted that we came here for: weak at best. I grabbed a half of my biased cut sandwich take a bite and wait for that chori-goodness I've been waiting for...I get nothing. Take another bite...nothing again. I open up my sammy and lo and behold I have like 3 thinnly sliced pieces of chorizo in my hand I look at the other half and I have bearly enough chorizo to fullfill my choripan experience. Correct me if I'm wrong but the chorizo should be on both halves of my sandwich, right? Well I must be wrong because all I eat was a mayo, lettuce and grilled onion sandwich. Whack. And to top it all off, when the bill finally came I took out my credit card to pay and waited for our customer...and waited...and waited....and waited...and waited...and waited. Add and additional 15 MINUTES to my wait time before I said "F#@K this" and got up to pay. In closing, I would only suggest Casavana, or as I like to call it, Caca-de-ano, to my dearest enemy or somebody that I didn't like...like a Hispanic Nazi or something like that. They deserve to eat here but not normal folk like us who know that the holocaust really happened. So, the next time you think about ordering from Caca-de-ano, just remember that Hispanic Nazi's would love to eat here. Anyone who gives this place more than 2 stars has never really eaten food, doesn't care to do so, has waaaaay too much time on their hands or works there. That's my $0.02.
(1)Terry S.
Food is not bad. Service is slow sometimes but overall, I would go back.
(3)Robert H.
I stop by from time to time for breakfast and the staff is always nice and offer fast service. Good food and fresh hot coffee. Thanks for helping start the morning.
(4)Alisa K.
Horrible. Smells like diapers. Bad food. Slow service and very dirty. Got dripped on from the ceiling the whole time. Waste of time and money. Never again.
(1)Aida P.
Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. On my way home from a 12 hour shift from the hospital I stopped by at 10 PM to get some food when Yelp clearly states they don't close until 11 PM and they refused to take my order. So sad because they lost a customer. I used to come her at least once a week but no more. I mean the open sign is still on. And they are servicing people for coffee etc. Not right at all! Never coming back!!!! Not even deserving of one star.
(1)Dan C.
This place has excellent customer service but the food is not that good. I ordered a breaded chicken which was basically tasteless and tostones which almost broke my front teeth when I bit into the first one. Oh well.
(2)Gina Z.
Service: Sadly, no one is in any rush to do much of anything so the wait for everything, including refilling waters, can take anywhere from 15-20 minutes. My Meal: The only reason I'm giving this place 3.5 stars is thanks to the most delicious Vaca Frita Sandwhich I devoured for lunch! I chose a side of Tostones with their garlic mojo dipping sauce. This meal was worth EVERY calorie! Lol. The Vaca Frita was seasoned & grilled to absolute perfection! The veggies complemented this sandwich exceptionally well & the Cilantro dressing was definitely the "icing" on the sandwich. Portion was a bit larger than expected but great for the price. I enjoyed eating as much I could because it was soooooo good! Looking forward to the next time I can sink my teeth into this delicious Casavana exclusive! Won't take a chance next time & DEFINITELY ordering To-Go!!
(3)Diver A.
Slow service, not impressed with food. If Las Vegas Cuban cuisine opens in Homestead, Casavana will go bankrupt. Their "pressed" sandwiches are not quite exactly pressed. I had a turkey sandwich and it was so high because of all the lettuce. Salty turkey pieces and black stuff on the bread because of the sandwich press. People that arrived after me were served first and I only ordered a sandwich!
(3)757 L.
Casavana on their best day is AVERAGE. Don't trust ANY review with over 2-3 stars... It is a false review with the intent of boosting Casavana's poor rating. It amazes me that this place is still in business as the service is sub par and the food isn't worth the pain to get it. For convenience to the Keys Gate communities it is hard to beat but you better have time and patience for incompetence. Just as EVERY actual customer rating points out - the service is piss poor. The waitresses find new and creative ways of combining rudeness, indifference, and laziness... Quite fascinating! If you decide to order drinks preemptively order 4 - you won't see your server for 35 minutes regardless of how busy the place is. The food can be decent - when the cook is trying. Done with this place... If the owners actually gave a crap they would fix this place and address the negative reviews... Take a look for yourself and see how much they care. Vote with your cash folks.
(2)Linda A.
Great lunch spot. Fast friendly sevice. Had black bean soup, tamale and beef Vaca Frita sandwich with fried plantains. Spices were perfect. Beans were smooth almost creamy, the tamale was the perfect accompaniment. The sandwich was large, like 12 inches which was perfect for 2. Plenty of beef, loads of tender onions and creamy cilantro dressing too. I couldn't eat all the bread but it was very fresh! The garlic dip for the plantains was finger licking good. If we didn't live in Seattle, we'd be regulars!
(5)Joanna A.
We ordered takeout: chicken soup and grilled chicken with rice, black beans and tostones. It upset me that they charged me $1.75 for the table bread. The lady said that is the cost I have to pay for not dinning in. I paid for it as I like to have it with the chicken soup but in the 4 years I've ordered takeout chicken soup we had never been charged for the bread. Next time, I'll stop at Publix first. Back to the grilled chicken, I took a bite off the chicken and it tasted funny, I automatically spite it out. When I looked at the cut piece it was pink in the middle! This is the last time we order from this place!
(1)J M.
What a disappointment! Food was awful my mother & I were hungry & looking for something to eat after a long trip to Homestead. So while staying at the hotel across the street. We decided to try this place & both got food poisoning from their Vaca Frita sandwich and entree. (which was recommended by the server)
(1)Paul M.
Was going to give all the details but think this pretty much sums it up. Great place to go if you have about 2 hours to waste and don't care about service. After 10 minutes of waiting for someone to come to the table we had to get the hostess to take our drink orders. Waitresses were extremely busy in the back eating their lunch and making sure it didn't get cold. Guess when the service is that bad it's normal to add 18% gratuity to a party of 5.
(2)Nawal B.
I ordered from the window on 12/26 to go. I ordered 2 caca fritas, I got a vaca frita and melanesa. The order was wrong and I got the wrong sides. My husband shared the melanesa with his mom, they both got sick from what they are. My coworker told me that you can't get food to go from here if it not cooked instantly. The melanesa sits there who knows under what temperature. I called 4 times to report this issue but I couldn't get a manager on the phone. So I stopped by on my way home last week. The manager was the biggest Moran. I told him I didn't need anything from him, I am just giving him feedback. He asked for medical records and told me the last guy that reported bad food was eating in the Carey's the next day. He said we don't trust complaints. Wow wow wow! I will never ever order buy from this company again. When I told him about the yelp feedback and to pay attention to customer comments. He said he didn't care about that. Wow!!!! Worst ever!!!
(1)Warren W.
Service was slow despite empty dining room, food wasn't great but wasn't exactly terrible; either way it was overpriced for what it was.
(1)Lazara C.
Food is okay, the service is absolutely horrible. The only way to even get acknowledged by the female employees there is to have a penis. They are just miserable and rude.
(1)Michelle M.
Horrible experience, between the bad service, and the constant flies/mosquitoes - made for such an aweful experience that I barely ate my food!
(1)Bennet M.
I am not Cuban so I really wouldn't know how authentic Cuban food tastes like. I was introduced to this place from my friend and she has no hispanic in her. So for the food I thought it was awesome. I love the chicken vaca frita which I've got a couple of times. It comes in huge portions and can last me till the next day. Why the 3 stars?? Cause their service SUCKS!! I get it, we're in South Florida, 85% of the ppl speak espanol. But I'm part of that 15% who doesn't. But once you keep talking to them in english they get upset. Yes I look like I can pass for a hispanic but I'm not. This is not the first time their service sucked. I even orderd cafe con leche at the outside window and that chic was talking all kinds of crap. Again, luckily I couldn't understand. Since they continue to be so rude, I will be more than happy to take my money elsewhere. COME CORRECT!! CUSTOMERS ARE WHY YOU HAVE A JOB! So treat them with some respect!
(3)Yaima C.
Great cafe con leche. They appeared to be understaffed. I had the pan con bistec, which was pretty uneventful and dry. My boyfriend had carnitas, which he absolutely loved. Apparently they were like butter.
(3)Khayla C.
This place is one of the best, the staff is friendly and attentive and the food is great. The cheeseburger is better than you would expect from a Cuban restaurant and the churrasco is always well seasoned and cooked perfectly. I love this place and eagerly await being able to go back.
(5)Michelle C.
My cousin and his fiancee were nice enough to treat us to dinner here but I really wish I could've raved about it as much as they did. I ordered the Bistec de Pollo Empanizado (breaded boneless chicken) with tostones only (fried plantains). The chicken was dry and the tostones were overly cooked. There was nothing that I liked other than the fries I managed to steal from my stepdaughter's plate. The black beans tasted decent. I did like the fact we were seated in a booth, tucked in a corner away from the rest of the restaurant. It felt private, almost VIP but we had an unwanted guest, a fly roaming over us the whole time. We joked that the fly must taste Cuban because of how big it was. It must've tried every plate in that restaurant. If I had a do-over I should've ordered their Vaca Frita, maybe I would've had better luck with that. My cousin's fiancee says that's what she mainly orders. I doubt I see myself giving this location another shot. Especially when I found myself fantasizing that I was eating at Sergio's instead.
(1)David T.
Got the Masa de Puerco (pork chunks) and they were tasty and plentiful. Staff was friendly and helpful.
(3)Kendrick F.
Disappointed would be how I describe how I feel knowing that one of my favorite Cuban restaurants southernmost location is so poorly inconsistent. I have gotten food from here at times that is fresh and delicious, but for the most part lately it has been terrible. Cold, flavorless food, undercooked yucca, soupy black beans and tough as leather vaca frita. And eating inside is also a mixed bag. The service for the most part is decent, but if it gets even a little bit busy, you will have to flag down the waitstaff or be ignored for your whole meal. The Casavanna locations in Kendall are so much better. My experiences lately have left a sour taste in my mouth and now frequent Mario's when the craving for Cuban cuisine hits me. That, or take a drive up to Kendall.
(3)Victor M.
Stay away from this place, unless you want the fried cheese which is the only good thing here. Incredible that this place is owned by Sergios
(2)Jean Randall G.
I been a loyal costumer for 5 years... And this new ownership has changed the quality of the food, the attention to detail on the orders... Sad to says.. I have to think twice before I order anyone.. Because it might taste different, or just be a wrong order.. They need to get their act together...
(2)Demy F.
Vaca Frita is always dry when I order it. I don't recommend the dine-in experience. Usually bad and slow service! But the woman on Togo at night is always so sweet, professional and on point. I always make sure to tip her extra so she knows I appreciate how polite she is. I order Churrasco, which never disapoints but it's the only beef I eat!
(3)Ray S.
This place is super super super slow. I called my order in because I know they take forever to bring out the food once ordered. I arrived in 25 minutes to pick it up and it still wasn't ready. I've dined-in before and really dislike the unprofessional waitresses that talk about their customers. 45 minutes later, I got my food.
(1)Brian T.
NOT Good. (Period). NO maybes, or 2nd tries at this place. I read a few good reviews and should have listened to the "truthers" who said stay away. I agree, this place is horrible. I had the Pan con Bistec which is described as: Our famous steak sandwich, grilled with onions served on Cuban bread garnished with tomatoes and topped off with julienne fries. The waitress stated it was their best sandwich as well. How is his famous? For being completely disgusting? Famous for being a complete LIE of description vs actual? Well it did have a steak. The steak was a cheap, low grade flank steak- thin- overcooked. Grilled? well yes it was cooked. Onions? yes about 4 onions that were grilled. Cuban bread which is similar to french bread and is suppose to be somewhat "stale" and "flaky"- this is just the style of bread, but it was STALE causing it to be FLAKY and appeared to be Cuban. Tomato? Yes there were 2. So it does live up to the promise of offering these items, but it was executed by a "cook" and not a "chef". It was SOOO poorly cooked, it looked and tasted like it was place together by a 13 yr old kid, who got stoned for the first time- raided his parents fridge and with help of the microwave, found some old stale bread and "Bang", perfect stoner food! Note: I feel horrible from this food while writing this...........I may want to become a vegan. NOW, onto the Julienne fries. Whats that? well its a french fry, just thin and the length of the potato, should be freshly cooked and placed on the sandwich. (Please see photo, how it is a topping- but in realilty it is smoothered in these fries). Wait I called them fries, when actually these Julienne fries were room temperature and similar to the steel tin fries you ate when you were a kid or like Andy Cap fries - just see my photos. HORRIBLE....... Onto the Ceasar Salad: just romain, cheese and dressing. HOW does one mess this up? Well they did, and they did that beautifully! Bravo on taking 4 ingredients and making it unappetizing and a waste of money. So they got my $15 and I leave headed for the bathroom feeling sick. Your call- believe the 3-4 star reveiws and bring your friends and family here, and leave with just your family because your friends will rethink their "friendship" with you after eating there. Your family has no choice their stuck with you. OR......OR believe this review and eat..........ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!!! I had to stop at McDonalds to get the taste out of my mouth. The $1.19 double cheese burger tasted like heaven compared to this place. And for the record I hate and never eat at McDonalds.
(1)Ali G.
This restaurant is basically close to my house. Not that great food, but will eat if starving. Not a place I will runs down.
(3)David M.
Food isn't bad. But the vegetables were the frozen kind you heat in microwave came out. Barley warm watery and that light colored green. Service is good. Little on the pricey side considering the quality I love the Cuban coffees
(3)J G.
My boyfriend and I went on a Tuesday night. It didn't seem too busy inside but the takeout line looked long. Our server was very friendly and was able to answer our questions about the menu - neither of us has had much Cuban food. They give out a bread basket after they bring the drinks. One of our pieces had mold on it...we decided not to say anything and just put that piece to the side, the rest of the pieces were delicious. We got the tostones rellenos with beef appetizer and the pan con lechon and the camarones enchilados as our entrees. It took a VERY long time to get our food and the appetizer and entrees came out at almost the same time. Nothing spectacular but not horrible either. The arroz con leche for dessert was excellent. It felt slightly over priced but all in all it was an ok experience.

By far the best Cuban food I have had in Homestead since we moved here a year ago! Clean restaurant, nice staff. I'm really happy I don't have to drive 45 minutes for some decent vaca frita and rice.

Terrible food! The palomilla was tasteless and tough. The bistec empanizado was tasteless, tough, and 75% breading. I'm not sure what meat they used for the "boliche" but it wasn't the cut normally used. Instead, this was the same tough palomilla steaks smothered in an awful sauce that tasted as though it were mainly made of ketchup. Worst dining experience I've had in a very long time. The portions are big but we threw away the leftovers because we didn't want to suffer thru that again.

Great breakfast and great service for a low price. My wife loves the omelets and the simple traditional breakfast is plenty satisfying to me.

People complaining of the servers having mediocre english with latin accents at a Cuban restaurant baffle me a bit. Also, the fact that the servers had a bit of an abrupt way of speaking likewise. Trust me, if you go to a cuban restaurant and the waitress crouches down and asks you how your day went like at a TGI Friday's -- you're probably not at an authentic cuban place. Also, if you are "not that fond of cuban food", Casavana isn't for you. Anyway, it is clean and the ambience and decor is nice, if a bit generic. I do like the pictures of Havana on the walls. The sandwiches, in particular the cubano and medianoche, are well made and savory, and the cuban bread at the table is hard to resist picking-at. A good portion of the cuban "essentials" are here, as well as a few innovations such as "vaca frita" with chicken -- which was good and probably less unhealthy than the usual version :). This restaurant is a small chain, I believe, with a few more locations. So it doesn't hit the top tier cuban restaurant highs you can get in some corners of Little Havana, but it hits the spot. Also, they have a very handy quick-service window outside that serves most of their menu, and where you can get colada (cuban coffee) as well as the more american-mainstream-style lattes etc. Great for picking up for a picnic out at Biscayne park.

I've been here several times before and it seems each time i visit, the service gets worse. This last time we were "greeted" by a dry, rude hostess. She was wearing hipster glasses and seemed upset to be there. She asked if we needed a high chair and we said yes as we have a toddler. After she dryly took is to our seat I went to the restroom and upon my return (about a minute or 2 later) my wife was still standing waiting for the high chair, toddler in her arms. I saw the stack near the restrooms so i grabbed one and took it to her myself. That nasty hostess never even came back or semt anyone to get the high chair. I eyed her throughout the night and she was the same with everyone, like people were inconveniencing her. The food is not great enough for their service to be so shitty. Additionally, our server seemed out of it. She wasn't rude or a poor server but she did seem overwhelmed. Unfortunately, its the nearest cuban spot but i won't be back again. Ill just drive elsewhere to get my cuban fix. I wont be spending my money here again.

Came around closing time, they were not bothered by it. The server was sweet & even the bus boy ensured we were ok. Awesome service & the food was great. Large portions so you have lunch for the next day. I had tge vaca frita, it was well done.

Definetly not Cuban food. I should've known when the menu didn't have roast pork on it. The tamale was overpriced and bland. I ordered pork with black beans and rice along with plantains. Very disappointing and overpriced. I would've been better off stopping at a little cafe for a more authentic meal too bad many of those don't use yelp.

This restaurant is located next door to a supermarket so it is a fairly dull location. Not much effort has been made to make the restaurant nice either. The service may perhaps be good for people who speak Spanish. The first waitress trying to take our orders spoke bo English at all. The second girl spoke some English but still had trouble getting the simplest things right (like being unable to explain what Domestic beer was available). The food was disappointing, cuban food in itself is seldom that exciting but this was worse than the average cuban place. Many better options are available so go elsewhere for better service and food.

I live in San Diego, CA...I'm from Puerto Rican descent, came to Homestead to visit my sister. I've been craving authentic Cuban food. Decided to try Casavana; they did not disappoint! #verysatisfied, great portion! great flavor! I will return.

There's better Cuban food in Miami but as far as Cuban places in the area this place has the best food the best coffee and the store is spotless. I love my casavana.

Now eaters, pay extra attention on the restaurant name for a second. It's the "cuisine" part, I got mislead. I've had cuisines in NYC and Paris (yes, the one in France). To me, this place more like a home cooking food with servers. Ok, get the fried pork chunks, juicy, very garlic flavored or churasco (skirt beef stir fired) both with black beans and rice. Both are very safe picks. Oh yeah, you have have either plantains (sweet plantains) or tostones (hard pan fried plantains). Go ahead and Google, there are few of these restaurants in Miami, but I think after tried all same dishes, Homestead one has the best Churasco steak. Yes, servers do speak minimum English but use your fingers to point on the manu for what you wnat, just in case. If the servers ignored you, it's a normal phenomenon in Miami, don't take it to heart. If you coming to my restaurant, looking starving with an attitude (what do you mean you don't speak English, this is America!), and don't speak a word of my native language, I probably will be scared by you and ignore you, too! Learn some basic Spanish before you decent on Miami.

Loved coming to Casavana until today. The server that seated us was rude and obnoxious. He made a comment in Spanish to another customer and little did he know that we understood and spoke Spanish. When confronted he attempted to play it off with a BS comment. I looked at my sons and said let's go. We got up and started to leave when asked why by cashier at front. I explained to her, in Spanish, that this dude was being an ass and talking crap and that this would be the last time I would ever step foot in this establishment.

Disappointing service. I went to Casavana with a group of friends. We waited for 45 mins before anyone came to our table. Our waitress finally showed up and they had a nerve to charge us extra for breakfast mind you we were seated 10:45am and our waitress came to our table at 11:30am. After 11am you are charged $1 more. All the waitresses seems like they are mad no smile. We will never go back. The food was okay. A table seated beside us left because no one came to greet them for 20 mins. 12 people who will not be coming back.

Love this place!! I have yet to try a dish I don't like. And getting breakfast in the morning through the window is petty convenient. If you call in your order, it's ready in about 15 minutes and they deliver!

Love this place. Everything is good and delicious. I go a lot. It's down the road from me so that's a plus :) very good good!

New owner... sigh...food isn't tasting the same... vaca frita was just straight salt and a smaller portion. :-( The delivery was fast and friendly... that's why they didn't get 1 star.

The service was fine and the restaurant was clean. But the food didn't appeal to me. I've had better Cuban.

C'mon people...this is a Cuban restaurant. Anyway, my family and never had any issues eating here. We went two weeks ago and we brought some college friends from Texas

A OK place. A casual family place. To start we had some croquetas, follow by Papa Rellena. They were decent. But I probably wouldn't order them if I knew how huge the portion of our entrees would be. I had the Beef Vaca Frita, shredded flank steak topped with sauteed onions with a side of rice, beans, and fries. It was good, maybe it could have been a little more tender & moist. But all in all I like my dish. The GF had Milanesa Style Chicken, it's like Cordon Bleu. Huge, damn thing was as wide as the plate was. Too much breading, that was the only thing you could taste. To top it off, we had rice pudding, it was decent. Most folks that were there are cuban/latin, so it's pretty authentic. Prices are modest, cheap even. The GF had an upset tummy and she think it's from eating here. I however was fine. Modern, clean place. The staff of course speaks Spanish first, but are bilingual. But the GF is latin anyways. The owner goes around and chit chats with the patrons, even patted me on the back as I was sitting down, I thought that was a nice touch. But the service was slow, could have been better. End result is mixed. I had an overall decent experience but the GF having her tummy turning for the rest of the day, did not. It was a hit & miss with the dishes and slow service took away from our lunch experience. I say it's worth a try for a leisurely breakfast or lunch.
