I'm not sure why I'm not giving this place 5 Stars and only 4.5, I may feel guilty later on and update it. The first thing that really stands out about this place is it's next to impossible to find, even if someone tells you where it is, if you're driving more than 8 MPH past the front door in the parking lot on a sunny day you'll miss it. It's located in a bottom floor of an office building, in fact once inside it looks like an office building or better yet an office cafeteria. That doesn't hurt their business one bit, it's a neighborhood joint full of regulars that live there in Driftwood Acres, many of them for generations. What's interesting to me is how that neighborhood hasn't really ever changed like most of South Broward has over the past 25 years, the majority are still it's original white Florida Crackers. Want a really good traditional Southern breakfast down here? Jump in your car on a weekend morning and look for me or trucks with a KISS FM bumper sticker and follow them around for a bit, actually you'll probably end up here. The portions are large, the traditional breakfasts are great, the service is always excellent and you can call the waitresses "Hon" without getting smacked in the mouth (true story). *If you're the typical Florida Cracker with an appetite and a small wallet like myself wanting a Florida Cracker Breakfast for your Florida Cracker self, try to find this place. Tell 'em a Florida Cracker sent you, Cracker. *Disclaimer: Occasional Asians, Seminoles, Boricua's, and especially Black folk from the South etc. have been known to enjoy traditional Southern Breakfasts.

Nice little local Hollywood place for a traditional breakfast. There are fewer and fewer of these type of places left in Hollywood, and I would guess a lot of people don't even know it's here based on its almost hidden location in the back of and office building on Taft St. Hubby's dad is a regular here and has been trying to get us to join him for breakfast here for some time. Yesterday, we decided to give this place a try, and we all headed over. When we first walked in, everyone greeted Hubby's dad like a friend and gave us smiles as well. It was the tail end of the breakfast rush, so the place was not too busy. It's a seat yourself kind of place and we were able to snag a booth in the back. Apparently, most of the servers have been at this place for decades, but just as Dad was pointing this out to us, our server approached with menus and water, and apparently she was new, but definitely not inexperienced. Based on her service, I would say she is a welcome addition. She was friendly and very efficient. She got everyone's orders right, and we didn't wait long for anything. I ordered the Taft St Special, with these options: two eggs, bacon, grits, toast, orange juice. Everything was cooked perfectly. Hubby ordered the same special, but opted for sausage patties instead of bacon, and hash browns instead of grits. The special comes with coffee and a small orange juice, which he ordered. Since I didn't get coffee, they gave me the large OJ, which was perfect. Now, just a few observations. There are almost no windows in this place, but it was clean. Since it is tucked in the back of an office building, it doesn't have quite have the feel of a typical diner. With the exception of our new server, most of the servers and customers were older than us, which is fine for us. We felt young for a change and welcomed the relaxed atmosphere. This isn't the place one travels great distances to have a trendy breakfast. This is more like a place for locals to go for a decent breakfast that will be served fast, hot and delicious and with a smile.

Great service and good food with ample portions. I grew up in this neighborhood and have been coming here since the 1980's and it still hasn't changed. If your looking for a hearty southern meal for a great price this will do it for you..!!

Probably not coming back. That about sums up this experience. Are they a diner? yeah, sort of. Do they offer breakfast food? Well, it is on the menu. Did anyone at my table finish their food, or say they enjoyed it? No. Was the service spectacular? Nada. Will we come back? Not unless it is a dire circumstance. The eggs and omelettes were not great, the kids did not overly enjoy the pancakes and french toast, the coffee was blah, the ambience was less than stellar, and the experience was subpar. Try other places if you have a chance.

If I could put ZERO stars, I would! In one visit: lipstick on my coffee cup, a piece of food in my sons glass of orange juice, a filthy and I mean filthy orange juice cup was served to us. I poured the juice in to another cup and wiped the inside with my napkin. I wish I could have posted a picture of the mold and dirt inside this cup! When we complained to the owner, his response was that it had probably been sitting for a long time. Disgusting! We advised the owner we weren't going to wait for our food and that we were leaving. He didn't seem like it mattered. Oh well. Cross this place off my Sunday breakfast list! Ewwww!

Caution: not your traditional establishment. Everything visual requires upgrades, while the food is the saving grace. Tastes like your family is cooking in the kitchen, no glimmer or over the top appeal here, just good food. If you are picky about decor, this place is not for you; then again, who doesn't enjoy a good Rocky poster and the fall collection from Woolworth, circa 1994... I came looking for brunch and after seeing the signs on the side of the road (the actual location is behind the HESS gas station, the rear end of an office building), my fiancé and I decided to try a new location for brunch in our area. The food delivers! I had a ham and cheese omelette, while my fiancé had a classic breakfast, the cafe special (eggs, bacon, hash browns and biscuit). The food was great but because in today's market, you need to look good as well as taste good, I give this place 3 stars. A little remodeling or updating would go a long way here. The wait staff is very friendly and you can tell they build rapport with the guests.

I never knew this place was here. Not easy to find either but worth the trouble. Simple place, fast service, good food, great old pictures of classic movie stars. I felt like I having breakfast in my mom's house.

First of all, this place was a little hard to find. There was a helpful sign out front and google navigator led us there, but then we were like where is it?? Looking carefully at the numbering, we decided it must be in the office building in the back. We did finally find it down the left-hand corridor in the back of the back office building. When we walked in, it was a different world in there. Kind of like what I would imagine my Grandpa's morning club of yesterdays must of looked like (a.k.a. McDonald's every morning for coffee...lol). There were a number of groups of elderly people clustered around the place. It looked like a happy place. When I started walking back to find a table, and my husband hadn't followed me yet, one elderly man said that the empty booth space across from him was the right spot...ha, ha... I must of looked lost as I was scanning the booths for a place! At any rate, the food was pretty bland American...nothing special. I had read the biscuits and gravy were superb, but I've had better. There wasn't anything with much pizzazz on the menu. Hubby said it was good, but I don't think I'll go out of my way to go back.

I'm so happy I finally tried this adorable cafe. The service is fast, food is cheap and of course, delicious. Love their eggs! The pancakes are plate size and the biscuits and gravy leave my boy day dreaming about them all week. The people watching is pretty good here too. Where else can you see a bunch of old, unassuming men with $25,000 motorcycles argue amongst themselves about who is going to pay a $10 check? The Grandpa's of Anarchy were "charming" though. (See what I did there?) If you're in Hollywood, definitely stop in for a bite!

Good food and portions for the price. Service is slower then molasses everytime I go....

One of my favorite breakfast spots. Good food at a reasonable price. The servers are friendly. Gail ROCKS!

Found this place through Yelp, we are tourists from England here for a soccer game. Outstanding service and food, at a good price. An authentic American neighborhood diner thoroughly recommended!

Place is kind of a pit, outdated and old but the breakfast is always good and cheap. Ive been coming here since i was just a kid. I've never tried anything other then their breakfast though. Portions are big and service is fast.

First the positive: the staff is friendly, they know all the regulars by name. The portions are huge & my food tasted good. Now the not so nice: I had eye surgery & could not see too well the first time I went there with my father. I had a patch on 1 eye & the other eye was pretty bad. I thought it was a quaint place. Well he took me again & the place was filthy. I sat by the window & there was a spoon in the sill that had so much dirty & grease on it that it must have been there for months. There were dead cockroaches as well. I reach to pick up my napkin & saw thick grease with hair on the floor under the bench. If the dining room is that dirty what must the kitchen be like? My mother went on a separate occasion after we went & she came home & said "I can't eat there, the place is dirty". If they gave it a thorough cleaning & kept it up it would be a great place for breakfast. The prices are good & the staff is A+ minus their cleaning practices.

The biscuits and gravy are what dreams are made of. Great diner food for breakfast or lunch. The decor looks like it hasn't changed since 1991, and I'm okay with that. Adds to the overall charm.

Good fresh food in an unlikely location! Inexpensive, quick & friendly service. Old 50's environment K

Taft Street Café is good food good portions and very much worth the hunt to find it. Also unlike what the Yelp page says it is very much open.

Love this diner. RIght around the corner from our house. Been meaning to go there for a while, but it was in a weird location so we were skeptical. Loved it. WIll definitely go back regularly. Good and fast service, and great food. Great for breakfast.

2nd time back since my 8-2011 report. I was in North Carolina for 3 months in a one traffic light town. Nothing up there like this place. Nothing has changed here. Still the best for less. Great food and service. Can't get away from the ham and cheese omelet. This thing is huge and the ham has a great ham steak flavor, not the flavorless ham you usually get in an omelet.

Back in the days of still searching for a new place to rent, this place got us to try out some brunch. The cafe was located in a building. 1st floor. It looked like a place you wouldn't expect finding at, and it was the sign on the corner of a street that led us to it, first floor of the building. My brunch: the usual simple bacon, eggs and hash browns with toast. A cup of coffee along with a tiny glass of OJ (the glass size was just perfect to me.) Ralph's grilled chicken in his sandwich turned out to be not cooked all the way. But they took care of it right away by giving him another one. The service was quick and affordable.

I have been searching high and low for good biscuits and gravy for years. Taft Street Cafe ended that search. The first bite into the yummy creaminess of the biscuits and gravy almost put a tear in my eye. Love the small town atmosphere of the place. The owner was friendly and gave my 4 yr old a piece of candy. Will defiantly frequent this place again. Can't wait to go for lunch and try so soup!

Servings are pretty large so bring an appetite or a friend. They are also fairly priced. Breakfast is delicious from the pancakes to the home fries so so good. Came here after a long night and morning thought my eyes were deceiving me, on my next visit (sober) was pleasantly surprised that they weren't. Enjoy your meal here and thanks for the time.

Awesome breakfast! Five adults with drinks and full bellys left for about $10 per person. Hard to find place, as it is located inside of a office building, but well worth it. Tasty, huge omelet served with potatoes and toast. Coffee was good and kept coming. Servers friendly and Elvis memorabilia adorns the walls, along with some nice paintings of landscape scenes.
