Shabo's restaurant is a piece of the Middle East right here in America. If you want truly authentic and incredibly delicious middle Eastern and Moroccan food, there's no place else like this place!!! The owner and chef, Shabo, was a popular chef in the Middle East with his own tv show and traveled the world cooking and learning in different countries. His special attention to every single spice and flavor included in his dishes truly makes dining at this place an experience you won't forget. My husband and I are both Egyptian and were craving a taste of home. We discovered Shabo's bbq on yelp and decided to try it. We had the tabbouleh salad, the rabbit with molokhiya- a traditional Egyptian dish (I substituted the rabbit for lamb) and the Moroccan lamb dish with couscous. The flavors and spices incorporated into each dish were absolutely phenomenal...possibly the best I've ever had (this coming from an Egyptian who grew up to her moms molokhiya at home!). The owner himself will make the experience even more amazing with his kindness and generosity. He offered us Egyptian tea and baklava on the house just to say welcome!!! His kindness definitely made me miss home and we will definitely be back with the rest of the family!! Thank you so much, Shabo!!! We can't wait to be back!

I struggled between giving it 3 and 4 stars. The good: The only place in Greater Miami area that I know of that offers Moroccan cuisine. The aforementioned Moroccan dishes are executed very well. I had a lamb tagine, my business partner had cuscus with lamb; both used lamb shank. They were delicious! For the chef/ owner - besides being a phenomenal chef - this restaurant is clearly not just a business investment, but a labor of love. He did his best to make us feel welcomed. The food is served very creatively - on wooden boards and in clay pots. The bad: The waitress. While she clumsily tripped my water glass drenching our table with water (and divine providence saved my iphone), hey, I can be clumsy too. The real issue with her was that she completely lacked enthusiasm for her job and for the restaurant, and it really felt like this job was a chore and something she didn't want to do. Maybe this has to do with the fact we were not interested in ordering hookah - and inflating the bill? Who knows. The place like I mentioned above is unique in Miami in serving Moroccan food, and this food is very well executed. She should enthusiastically welcome new patrons (who might become regulars), volunteer to explain items on the menu (that many people might not be familiar with), heck at least make patrons aware of Moroccan dishes on the menu. Furniture looks old, our table was unstable. Lack of low carb sides. I tried the sides that our food came with: rice, couscous and stewed potatoes were absolutely delicious, but I am trying to watch my carbs, and just had a bite of each. I was hoping to find non-starch and non-sugared sides on the menu. The next door A La Turca has a number of those. So this is an area where the menu could be definitely improved upon. My business partner's couscous did have a few squash pieces that he let me eat. The chef did bring a free salad: tomatoes and lettuce smothered in a pesto-like sauce, so this salad and the squash pieces gave me enough will not to gobble up the super delicious potatoes :D In total, the place has a lot of potential, the chef is phenomenal, and hopefully service improves.

I got so much food that my roommate thought it was on purpose! Chef Shabo walked it over to my house in Hollywood, how cool! I was surprised and impressed with the Quinoa burger I had when I discovered this gem 2 nights ago! He even waived the delivery fee! I am more than impressed, this is how service is going to help Hollywood and it's residents. Well done, I owe you $20! Cheers! P.S. THE MEAT IS GRASS FED!! RIGHT ON!!

The owner is Egyptian and he is also the chef. Needless to say the food is truly authentic. Previously this place was a hookah lounge and I was a little weary to come here for food but, as it turned out I was really impressed. I have moved to MIA from Chicago with the largest middle eastern community in the country and therefore my standards for middle eastern food were not met by most restaurants in Broward. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the food here was truly authentic and delicious. The meats are tender, the use of the spices are on point and the desserts just delicious! We came with the baby and appreciated the fact that hookah smoking was not allowed inside. Great job, we'll be back.

We decided to give this place another try after receiving the kind response from the owner. He was just so apologetic about the prior experience... so it had to be done. When we walked in, the waitress was very friendly and greeted us - then the owner saw us, and came over to introduce himself. Amazing professionalism... something that seems rare around these parts. My friend and I ended up getting the sample platter at the owner's suggestion. Funny b/c the first time we were in there, the waitress suggested that as well. I can see why - the items were lovely, and the falafel was the best I have ever had. EVER. And I've had a TON of that stuff, being from Dearborn, MI and all (lots and lots of Middle Eastern food there). Everything else was excellent as well. Then came the main course - the lamb shank. Holy smokes was that tender. You know when you talk about something falling off the bone? Well it did that, but it even fell off my fork is was so tender. I could barely get it to stay on there! Very good comfort food - something that I would highly suggest. The sangria was lovely as well. The fruitiness is perfect - not too sweet, which is nice b/c I generally don't go for the sweet stuff. The owner admitted that he finally got the recipe right after a lot of trial and error... I approve. The dessert that we had this time around was amazing... then we finished it off w/ the best peppermint tea I have ever had in my life. I love love love peppermint tea - and I have not had better. I wish that I knew how to do that! Many thanks to the owner for his dedication, pride, and humility. He certainly is passionate - and it shows.

A hole in the wall delicacy with good food and customer service. Started with Hummus for our appetizer. It was creamy with just the right amount of spices. My main meal was the Lamb Kabobs. It was chard right and the flavors were on point. It came with your choice of Basmati rice or cuscus and potatoes in some sort of curry stew. The portion was pretty good and the lamb itself was tasty. My friend had the Rabbit Molokhia. It tasted like chicken with an interesting flavor. It was pretty good. For dessert we had lavash which was still warm. Mmmmmmm The service was outstanding. I definitely recommend this place especially if you want to try something new.

I was in town as a vendor at a festival working until late, so I called around town trying to find good healthy food open later than most good restaurants; I was very pleasantly surprised that the very intelligent, charming and informative owner answered the phone and explained that all of his food was made from scratch with quality ingredients with the full menu available until 1 am M-R, 3 am F & S and 11 on Sun!!! What a fabulous find this is! I went in at 11:30 pm on a Mon nt and I was the only customer! This should not be!!! THIS PLACE SHOULD BE PACKED BECAUSE THE FOOD IS EXCELLENT!! When I asked why it wasn't, he explained that he bought the place only 6 months ago and that it used to be mainly frequented by young hooka smokers because it wasn't known to have good food. But the new owner has much experience in the restaurant business and cooking is clearly his passion. He has very high standards and everything I had was excellent! He also explained that on Mon nights there are food trucks all around Hollywood Circle which detracts from the neighborhood's permanent restaurants. It's such a shame that more local residents and visitors don't make more of an effort to find out about, explore and try hidden gems like this one and support a well-deserving man on a mission to serve unadulterated, healthy, quality food that is reasonably priced that the average idiot isn't going to find at a franchise restaurant that's using GMO's, hydrogenated oils, microwaves and artificial and/or hormone and chemical-laden "foods" aka poisons! I started with the Egyptian lentil soup, tabbouleh and the mezze platter with hummus, babaganoush, falafel, labna, grape leaves and mediterranean salad. The tabbouleh had plenty of parsley and wasn't too acidic....the way I like it! The falafel was light and crispy and it is made with fava beans instead of the traditional garbanzo beans. I asked for more raw onion and tahini sauce to go with it. The tahini sauce was one of the best I've ever had because it is complex with onion and garlic in it instead of the bland awful version you are stuck with when served most falafels. The babaganoush was one of best versions I've ever had also! It was hard to stop eating my smorgasbord of appetizers since they were all soooo good, but I was trying to save room for the braised lamb shank with couscous, vegetables (sweet potato, carrots, zucchini etc) and sauce, which was also so good that I had little left to take to go. I also recommend that you accompany your meal with either iced hibiscus or mint tea. I had the hibiscus tea which I sweetened with my liquid stevia that I brought with me and asked for lemons to squeeze in it.....delish! I'm a very happy girl when I get a good meal like this!

Shabo, your food was exquisite! Loved this place! from the moment you brought my food over I could already tell I was going to enjoy every bite! And I surely did; I did not want it to end! I was amazed at the speed of the service as well as how well the food was prepared. No complaints at all! You're an excellent chef! On another note, the latte I had was the icing on the cake! I had been searching for a fresh, aromatic, bold and soothing espresso taste like that for some time now, and the latte you made fulfilled that search! No sugar or anything needed, just as is was the best way to enjoy it! Thank you for that! And I appreciate your friendly and witty customer service lol. Great food and a kind amiable owner surely attracts the customers! (People not only be ready for some great food when you visit, but also be ready for some laughs with this guy, haha) I will be back!

This review is coming from an Israeli, so pay close attention! We found this place via Yelp, and after deciding that we wanted to stay in for the night, we ended up here. Best. Decision. Ever. Started off with Egyptian Lentil soup- great flavor and tiny little noodles inside, it tasted like a cross of lentil and split pea, but oh so relish. Our main dish was the Combo Mezza Platter- labna, hummus, falafel, grape leaves and baba ganoush, served with pita bread- we swapped the grape leaves for tabouli. The babaganoush was the BEST I've ever had. This is coming from an Israeli. The falafel isn't made with chick peas. its made with fava beans, which I wasn't expecting. The fava beans make the falafel not as grainy, and more moist, almost like a puree, very lightly fried. My girlfriend loved the hummus, and she's picky. We indulged in Baklava for dessert and it exceeded my expectations. Usually Baklava is very flaky, almost too flaky, and you don't get enough flavor in each bite; however, this baklava isn't so flaky, very thin layer, and great sweet treat to end this delicious dinner. We'll definitely be coming back! See you soon! The owner is also amazing- he personally came out to say hello to each diner.

Sometimes it's all about the service. Owner was personable and sincere which is something you don't see much of at restaurants in South Florida. It definitely made the experience al the more worthwhile. The halal beef ribs were flavourful and fall off the bone tender and came with a side of Shabos specialty potatoes that were seasoned just right. All in all it was a good hearty meal with decent portions and good service. Would definitely go back.

The food is awesome, the best falafel I can find in downtown. What I like most about this place is that the owner is always on the scene making sure everything is running smoothly and his customers are happy. I'm there at least twice a month (hardly ever at night), but during the day it's quiet and family friendly. I always feel like I am in paradise with the soft music and the ambiance. If you're in to Mediterranean food, paired with excellent service check these people out.

We came here for dinner for the first time on a Wednesday evening around 6:30. We were the only people there which was odd because I have heard great things about this place. We started with the hummus which was really delicious and we asked for cucumbers in addition to the pita and our server/chef was very accommodating and friendly. We also ordered the sangria, which was homemade and yummy. Between 4 of us we shared a gyro, a kabob, and the Moroccan Tejab. Everything was very delicious and the service cod not have been better. The chef even brought us a complimentary baklava for the table. By the time we were leaving, we were pleased to see a few other tables had filled up.

A lovely little place. If you are vegan they have many options. They also have gluten free options. My dish was delicious and the waitress was amazing. The chef even came out to my table and personally asked me about my dietary requirements. Shabos is the best ever!

First time eating from here, and the food is amazing! I'm in the middle of eating a gyro platter, hummus and such a tasty lentil soup, and am thoroughly enjoying it all! I had the food delivered, and although I am around only a mile away, the food was delivered within 20 minutes of being ordered. The driver was super nice as well and cute. Would definitely recommend this place, and will be dining in soon!

Let me start off by saying the owner is an unbelievably nice guy and very professional. I've been there numerous occasions to hookah and to eat and everything from smoke to ribs and potatoes and kebabs were awesome. (Also taste good delivered). My boyfriend and I went in there for the first time a while back and happened to meet the owner and when he first started the place. He introduced himself and stayed open later just for us and was super accommodating and sweet. We went back several times more and he remembered us every time and always greeted us with a smile and gave exceptional service. We think of him as a friend when we go there, he's so nice! We haven't had a chance to stop in recently but we ordered in last night. We made a mistake and thought we put in chicken kebabs and also for delivery because it linked me to EAT24. I got a call from the owner saying the food was ready and I realized it was sent in as pick up. The owner said no problem and had it delivered to me. After setting up all the food, I realize I was missing the kebabs and called in saying it was missing. The owner said he double checked the order and still didn't see it so I looked up my order and realized I made another mistake and it somehow came out of the cart or never was put in. Even though it was entirely my fault, he apologized to me for the confusion and INSISTED that he will make it for me and deliver it personally himself... Like WOW. What a nice guy. He didn't know who we were but we were so in awe of how much of an amazing guy he is.. So I decided to hop on here and say that service is amazing and the food is great. Come check this place out! A real hidden gem.

Under new management. So I highly recommend everyone come back and try out the new cuisine. I have come here several times in the past month, and I keep getting served delicious food. Now I can't make up my mind and have to try the rest of the menu! This puts me in a pickle, I find myself in the need to bring more friends over as an excuse for me to go dining out lol The atmosphere is nice, lush new seating. Fun aromatic hookahs and mellow Mediterranean music, this is definitely the place to visit before going out for a night on the town. ( hell, bring the right friends and start the party here ) My new home away from home. Only better because I don't vacuum or do any dishes :P

Living near Detroit, I get to eat a lot of excellent, absolutely authentic Middle Eastern food. So when I say that Shabo's is the best I've ever had, that's saying something. The baba ghannouj had the wonderful crushed texture that comes from being been macerated in the traditional way, not all blended to meconium smoothness in a food processor. The balance of garlic, smokey carmelized eggplant skin, a bit of nuttiness from tahini and something else... almost like a hint of feta cheese? I don't know, but whatever it is, the result was excellent. I have a friend who says that his Lebanese grandmother would be proud to call my baba her own, and this was a LOT better than mine. The flavor profile of the shawarma was unlike any I've had before; hey, like mole' or barbeque there have to be a lot of regional variations and as many recipes as there are kitchens. Tender grilled marinated chicken, tahini sauce bright with lemon and fresh garlic on the side and pickles... it was outstanding. Moroccan Fish Stew was also excellent: a good filet of cod in a tomato-based sauce with chick peas and mild peppers. Other than cumin I can't tell what the seasonings are but it has a satisfying earthy, woody tone (kind of like rooibos tea). The couscous was prepared simply and well. The avocado smoothie was interesting: savory and buttery from the avocado, but at the same time light and only slightly sweet from dried dates. My wife's crazy about it, and I think that it'll become a favorite of mine. Our waitress Margaux was beautiful, personable and gave great service. What more could one ask for?

A hidden gem! I am persian and very picky about Mediterranean food. This is the best in south Florida! The owner is amazing. He cooks all the food and greets every guest at the table to make sure everything is by expectation. The waitress Heather is amazing also and so enthusiastic about explaining all the food. It is a very authentic place both food and vibe. The hookah was the best I've ever had also. Their lunch specials are priced amazingly. These are the local businesses we should be supporting. Thank you Shabo.

I was looking for a place to celebrate bachelorette party at and found this restaurant that had great reviews. I do not know where to start... The place is AWESOME!!! The best food, the best atmosphere and the best and personal service! What can be better than a combination of everything!! My girlfriends had such a great time here, we had delicious dinner and drinks, their food presentation is AMAZING!!! I'm so happy we chose Shabo's Barbecue restaurant for our special occasion!!! Hummus appetizer is the must! LOVED IT !! Our waitress was so attentive that we felt so special! Chef even came to check on us and to make sure our dinner was good. I definitely will be back and highly recommend this place to everybody! Thank you so much for making our night so special and memorable!

I came in here a few times before and was disappointed with the pricing and food quality. That is all changed now!!! Cheapest hookah in town and great specials. Seriously check this place out. Tonight we had a coffee flavored hookah for $10. Normally $17 and it was great! They also had a gyro for $7 Quality is way up and the owner is very passionate and friendly.

We are actually on our way out to have an early dinner at Shabo's. This will be our third visit this month. We had been to this restaurant when it was Exotic Bites and did not return. When I found Shabo's on Yelp an read the reviews, we decided to give it a try and we are so very glad we did. On our first visit we had the Omy soup. The very kind owner/chef explained it was his mother (Omy) who gave him the recipe. The tomato based soup was full of chunky pieces of veggies and fava beans, and wonderful spices..just a tiny kick...a new favorite comfort food. I do not eat wheat and most of my diet is plant based so there were a lot of options here and most wonderful of all...there are gluten free options! I had the Falafel sandwich wrapped in a tasty home made gluten free wrap with tahini sauce. What a treat to have a sandwich!! My husband had the gyros, which came in an overstuffed pita. This was so obviously home made gyros meat and my hubby said it was the best one he's had in a very long time. At the end of our meal, the owner brought us a gluten free chocolate lava cake to try as he is experimenting with an entire GF menu. Never ones to turn down chocolate, we dug in...again for me...what a treat.. We went back for lunch a few days later. We shared a soup and i had a grilled veggie wrap (GF) with thaini. My husband had the beef shwarma sandwich. This was another overstuffed pita filled with yummy home made shwarma. We each ordered coleslaw which comes separately. One order would have been enough for the two of us. It was creamy and slightly sweet without being overly sweet. The waitress even came out to tell me that one of the ingredients did not say GF but it was an ingredient I had no problem with..just really thoughtful. My husband is pulling me away..tonight. we may try one of the lovely entrees on the menu...

Visiting Hollywood, discovered Exotic Bites has new owner, excellent Mediterranean Cuisine... we had the Chicken Shawarma and hubby shared with a friend a platter of the Mixed grilled veggies, out of this world. Didn't tried their hookah, but heard other tables complimenting flavor and cleanliness. I also understand that the new owner is a professional chef... way to go Exotic Bites, will be back!

I grew up in Hollywood and now only get to visit a few times a year, but every time I visit, I make it a point to eat at Exotic Bites. I've known the place for awhile, but since the new owner took over, it's an entirely new experience. The Shabo salad is my favorite! It has the most delicious sweet potato i've ever had, and the falafel is mouthwatering. I'm alos a big hookah fan and the owner showed me some cool tricks you can do with the smoke. All in all, this place should be the next big thing on the circle. Ignore the Mediterranean place next door; you'll have a much better time at Exotic Bites and for less money.

We ordered delivery on a night when we really wanted a good meal but had no energy to go out and even less energy to cook. I called Shabo's and the person who answered the phone was so nice and assured us that the food would arrive quickly. And it did! It was prepared and brought to us in under an hour. And we were so pleasantly surprised..it was delicious. We had falafel to start, it was perfectly fried and served with tasty pickles. My boyfriend had the beef scharwma and I had the lamb tagine. Both were very flavorful and perfectly cooked. And the rice was deliciously seasoned. We will definitely be ordering again to try something different. That was one of the best meals I've had delivered right to me.

Shabo (the owner) has spent the last year perfecting his art since taking over the restaurant - a time when I wrote his first review for him. He takes pride in his food and his patrons. Although I have yet to have everything on the menu (need many more visits for that), I have had enough of a selection to say that if you don't try the restaurant at least once you are doing yourself a disservice. The menu has a wonderful variety for all tastes. There is something for everyone. If you are reading this review it means that you are interested in the place ... so just stop now a go and eat. Enjoy.

Went here the other night after reading about it on yelp. Wasn't sure what to expect after walking in and not really knowing how to proceed (I'm from out of town and it was midnight). Staff immediately made me feel welcome and quickly made me feel at home. Hookah was awesome, chicken fingers were great! Going back here before I leave the area for sure!! Thanks!

Try the platter appetizer. Delicious. It's was our servers first night as well as our first visit. She had a hard time giving in depth descriptions of the dishes, so the owner gladly came out and discussed the different dishes with us. I had the shrimp and kale salad which was very good. I even had extra to take home for lunch the following day. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the Hollywood area! They also have hookah but we did not try it so I cannot review it.

Went on a Saturday night with another couple. It got really good Yelp reviews so we thought we'd check it out. First impression upon walking in was not great - it's poorly lit and needs some basic remodeling done inside. Also, it was a Saturday night & there was barely anybody in there. Obviously not a good sign. Nonetheless, food was good. No complaints on quality - flavorful and well presented. However, and maybe I'm just a cheapo, I have a hard time paying $20+ for dishes that contain only the most basic ingredients (i.e. a few pieces of lamb/chicken over a bed of rice, some sauce & spices with a couple of wedges of pita bread for good measure) just because they're ethnic. This is S. Florida, you can't throw a mango without hitting an ethnic restaurant. Finished dinner & ordered hookah. Kind of put off because owner doesn't let you put hookah pipe on the table. I can understand because he said they have problems with people knocking them over & breaking them, but more than awkward sitting at a table with 3 other people & trying to smoke hookah from a pipe that's on the floor. Essentially had to pass the pipe around under the table. There needs to be a better solution to that issue! Bill was pricey but we were also drinking. So in many ways our fault but I think - for what you get - menu is a tad bit overpriced. I'd recommend this place if you are in the mood for Mediterranean and/or hookah because in a great location with plenty of after dinner entertainment options nearby; but would predict that a majority of people, like me, will go once and likely not go back. Finally, service was really good. Waitress was on like her second shift ever there but managed everything very well.

The place is pretty nice. If you didn't realize it was a hookah bar, walking across the street to the place, the music inside sure helps with that vibe. Considering it was just me and my friend at midnight on a tuesday night, naturally there isn't going to be much business. The waitress was very friendly, and catered to our every need indeed. The owner was also very kind as well. I can tell it's been refurbished since the last time I went there. I did miss one thing however. Last time I came here, it was much more of a lounge area. The furniture is nice and all but it was nice having that little lounge area at the front in the corner of the restaurant. I don't know, maybe I'm just being picky, but it made a difference for me anyways. The food itself is great as well. We just ordered a appetizer since both me and my friend had already ate prior. The hookah was also great. I didn't get a chance to view the hookah menu too much, but it would be a good recommendation to add the option of different bases for the hookah as well just to add variety :) Overall experience = good.

I love this place! The owner just changed but changes already are great! First off all atmosphere and cleanness! Beautiful chill out music and style of restaurant brings u somewhere out of daily life. It's great place for weekend getting out with friends or romantic dinner with ur couple. The new chef is actually the new owner, so he always makes sure his guests enjoy as well service as well quality of their meals. And they promise even more changes. So, sure, u will not be disappointed of time spending there. Highly recommend Exotic Bites!!!

Ugh. Worst place ever! Waited over 40 mins for our food and when we complained the lady said the "chef had to run to Publix"....REALLY? - btw, we just ordered ONE appetizer platter which consisted of falafel, tabouleh, and hummus....HOW DOES THAT TAKE 40 MINS?

Very nice restaurant. Very quaint and intimate. We went there at 9pm on a Sunday and it was the perfect atmosphere just to shit, talk and have a quiet Dinner. We had the Sausage appetizer and the Falafel appetizer which were both delicious. We also had some very yummy dates (not on the menu, but when we asked he brought a bowl of them for us). I can't remember what it was called but we had the Kefte dish as our main course and it was also very tasty. They also have hookahs and I though that would make it a smoky place (I'm a non-smoker) but it was not smoky at all. I would highly recommend it and will definitely be going back to try other dishes. I gave 4 stars rather than 5 because the Kefte was a bit salty to my taste but still tasty.

Came here tonight with my friend. She recommended me this place. I can honestly say it was a great experience. I felt almost at home! I met the owner and he was extremely nice and honest with everything. Service was really on point. The server was extremely sincere and generous. She checked up on us constantly and made sure everything was OK. She had no problem explaining items on the menu or working around to attend our needs. Will be back again thank you!

I just left this place. I had dinner with my girlfriend and a colleague from work. It was a Tuesday night so the place did not have many patrons, so I was a bit apprehensive at first. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the freshness of the salad and the food. The food was delicious, good portions and the service was great! We were attended by the owner who was working the front and back of the house himself and never faulted in his attentiveness. I recommend for anyone who goes to order "sex on the beach" hookah. The tobacco portion was more than adequate and was served in an orange as opposed to the traditional clay bowl. It had a great taste. More importantly, the hookah was very clean and smoked wonderfully. I have visited other hookah places in the vicinity, they will remain nameless, and they did not compare. I will definitely be returning for a visit and if you are thinking about this place definitely go for it!

New menu and new owner that takes the time to make dishes from scratch and absolutely amazing. So glad I gave this place another try.

Another good meal at this restaurant yesterday afternoon. I was glad to see that even though some new menu items have been added, the same standard of quality is being kept (fresh and delicious food). The portions are very generous. My daughter and I both ordered platters knowing that we would have a full box of leftovers for her father to enjoy as a treat for his dinner. The baklava was as delicious as I remembered, even though I couldn't finish it. I was FULL even though I only at 1/2 of my beef shish kebab dinner. Maybe next time I will try something different. My daughter also really enjoyed the chicken shwarma, and saved half of that as well. I think the prices are fair considering the portion size, quality of the food and also a drink is included. I could have had a glass of wine but I don't drink. I appreciated that they brew their own iced tea, and my daughter raved about her frozen mint lemonade. We will surely be back for more good times at Shabo's.

I came here last Friday to celebrate a friend's birthday and also, I have a Groupon for it so I was dying to try this place. I'll give you the pros and cons but man, I have to tell you, the food is phenomenal! Pros: * Food is phenomenal!!!! * Best humus on earth * Incredibly tasty Konafas * Awesome hookas * Friendly waiter (there was only one Friday night) * Price of the food :) Cons: * Only beer and wine :( * The couch where we sat was uncomfortable * Not 4 stars in cleanliness The place is on Harrison Street so it's a lot easier to find parking as opposed to Hollywood Boulevard. I'm planning on going back again very soon.

Exotic Bites is a cute little restaurant located on Harrison St. It has a lounge feel setup with not only tables for dining but a small bar and couches for those looking to chill out and smoke a little Hookah. We choose to sit outside, since the restaurant was a bit dark and stuffy and because it was a nice day out. Although it was tempting, it was the middle of the day, so I had to pass on the Hookah. I didn't however, pass on their Falafel Entree. Along with the Falafels, it came with salad, couscous, and pita bread. Everything was fresh and tasty. I really liked their Falafels because they were huge and packed full of flavor and not dry. My boyfriend who met me for lunch isn't a fan of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern food. So stupidly, he decide it would be a good idea to order the Philly Cheese Steak off the American portion of the menu. Obviously, he was disappointed. It wasn't even an attempt at a Philly but simply a Middle Eastern take on the sandwich. On top of that, it was cold, the cheese wasn't melted and the fries looked like they were chopped up into itty bitty pieces. Despite that little mishap, the waitress was one of the nicest, most genuine people I have ever encountered. She was very sincere and apologetic that my boyfriend didn't like his food and made every attempt to rectify the situation, although we didn't take her up on any of her offers. She has a sort off of beat personality but she was really fun and funny. I truly enjoyed having her as our server. So the conclusion is that the food here is good, just don't order food that a restaurant doesn't specialize in because it probably won't be very good. However, Exotic Bites, if you don't intend to make it good, just don't put it on the menu. The service was spectacular and the best part of the meal!

I used to come here all the time. The locations a little off the beaten path, but nothing major to worry about. This is a great late night snack and hookah bar. The shawarma wrap with the hot sauce is fantastic. I've been treated to free dessert before here. Hookah itself is alright, prices used to be a bit cheaper. If you are a hookah fanatic, stay at home and invest in your own. If you want to spend some times in a not super classy place but have a nice time, I suggest you check it out.

I am visiting town and happened to discover this restaurant by looking at Yelp. It was quite amazing, and probably the best falafel I've had outside of Israel. They are flaky, large croquettes served with a nice salad and yogurt sauce. I loved the chicken schwarma, the generous serving of cous cous and the salad. The pita bread was fresh and warm. The only thing missing was saffron rice. Excellent food, and now under the name of Yemeni.

Well this was truly an exotic meal in South Florida presented by an international cast. The owner - Egyptian; the servers - Romanian & Turkish; the chef - Brazilian; the food - fabulous! Soooo well seasoned. Wonderful Greek salad, Tabouleh, Moussaka, and Lamb Shank! Yes, this meal was an adventure. Someone said their in review that the place is a dump. That's an accurate description (hence the 4 star rating). However, it was clean and the service was excellent!

I will preface that this is my first time eating this type of food, aside from eating Greek yogurt and pita bread. Overall, I enjoyed it. I ordered the spinach konafa and chicken shwarma. First, the cons. The chicken shwarma was way too salty. It felt like the chef salted the chicken and then forgot and salted it again. I had takeout so I felt that the portion was seriously lacking for $13.95. It came with a salad and a side. I chose lemon potato. Maybe it was the fact that I ate more leftovers than it fresh, but it became too lemony sour for my taste. It may have been more memorable fresh before the lemon acids saturated the potato. With this in mind, I would assume the salad comes separately if you ate inside. With the typical 3 section takeout box, the chicken portion (though already too salted) was like probably 1 cup of chicken. Okay, maybe 1 1/4 cup. I would really like to see how they would have filled out the plate to make this $14 portion look larger. Perhaps, with more potato. More than what I got in that box, and probably with a much flatter plate. The salad was standard. I'm not into salads and it was fresh enough but nothing memorable, but not bad either. Now the pros. I loved the spinach konafa! Actually, I believe it was fried. The konafas were so good I NEED THE RECIPE! The phyllo dough was cut into really thin strips. As thin as vermicelli noodle! Then there is spinach with ricotta cheese inside! Hello, win-win if you like the spinach dip-esk combo, but crispy! It was friggin like fried spinach dip! Which, if exists, I've never tried! Oh and the konafa came with the most awesome homemade hummus! At least I'm pretty sure it was hummus! The pita bread was good! There was something orange on it. Some type of oil with seasoning? Fresh. Mmm. The white sauce they gave me was indeed made of Greek yogurt and some seasonings but seasoned enough to relieve itself of the tart taste that is Greek yogurt. I liked the tomatoes and cucumbers. Fresh and cucumbers are always so refreshing when served cold! The service was really slow inside the dining area because they only had one server, but the majority of the food is good so I'd come back for that. I just wouldn't order the shwarma unless they guarantee me it won't be over salted. Didn't try the hookah. Also, some Yelper complained about the restroom. I didn't use it. The place is small and also located right before the circle on Harrison street. It's close to PoleStars! Kinda.

Not as great as everyone say it is. We were the only customers there and it took the waiter 20 minutes to bring us our drinks. Then we waited another half an hour for our food. They forgot about appetizer and brought it after the main course... A big annoyance was that the bathroom was out of towels. All these things are understandable during a busy time, but when the place is empty that just shows how careless the staff is. The only good thing is that the food was very tasty and our appetizer was free due to the mistake.

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent. I've been here twice in the past 2 weeks and the food is outstanding. The owner/chef is so kind and accommodating, plus very knowledgeable about the food. There are even gluten free choices. Just ask. The food is cooked fresh when you order it and is generous in portions. Very reasonably priced. The restaurant is under new management and it shows. Give it a try. you won't be disappointed.

A few months ago, I get a random pic message on the phone. A picture of some really yummy looking food from my foodie buddy Mr. Picky Tables. Caption reads "Egyptian food." Huh? I did a double take. I wanted to "eat like an E-gyp-tian" (har har!). So before my friend and I head down to MIA, I set out to find this place. Exotic Bites is a small mom and pop spot in the cute area of Hollywood, Florida, north of Miami. This area really looks like riverside in Jacksonville with streets lined with shops and that cute walkable feel to it but not too crowded. As for the restaurant, we had a really sweet waitress, Lana, who was very friendly and smiled alot. I met the Egyptian owner of the restaurant, and he was really nice, too. Customer service is excellent here. Several of the customers who showed up later in the night wanted to sit outside, so the staff went inside and pulled out tables specifically for these guests. For starters, we had a hookah. Mr. Picky Tables was being picky with his flavors and did not want to try mango. We got jasmine, and it tasted good. My chick friend tried hookah for the first time, but she had a coughing reaction. Lol. So, how was the Egyptian food? Dishes were general middle eastern style cuisine. So, if you've had Lebanese or anything in that general location, then you've pretty much had something similar. The appetizer was simple hummus with pita. The hummus was much tastier than the one at Cedar's in Orlando, even without the shawarma. I ordered Gyro Kebab (slices of delicious beef, and not on a stick as most of us might think) and my chick friend got Lamb Shank (a leg of lamb in a tomato-based sauce), and she's now a fan of lamb. My Gyro Kebab came with 2 sauces to dip the meat in: Tzaziki sauce (which was creamy and reminded me of the texture of sour cream), and a type of hot sauce. As usual, one of the members in the party orders a better dish than mine. Mr. Picky Tables got the Kefta Kebab, which is like a sausage with yummy spices and meat inside. If he wasn't paying for this meal, I might have ganked the entire thing off his plate. Hahaha. The entrees came with tabbouleh (tasty), more hummus, pasta balls (tiny balls of pasta), and Mediterranean salad (very fresh). For dessert we had some dessert that tasted like shredded wheat with guava fruit in the middle. It was served atop rose-flavored water (lightly sweet and exotic). We had some hot mint tea to drink with the meal. Really good. It was evening weather so the tea got cold a bit too fast for my slow speed. (I tend to savor the flavor of each exotic bite.) Mr. Picky Tables comes here often. Apparently Exotic Bites stays open till 2am. Wow. Great place to quell the munchies after a night of drinking. They also have bellydancers that perform here on some nights. If you live in the area, and you haven't been here, definitely check it out. Delicious dishes, great service, and cute atmosphere.

every1 who voted 4+ stars is a liar I went to this place about 5 times, only cause it was convenient every time it was something was broken, something ran out THEY NEVER HAD ICE EVER (i drink my drinks 90% ice, 10% liquid lol) once for hookah they ghetto rigged a mouth piece -.- with foil and a straw they charge 1dollar each coal they dont fully pack it, hookah is around 18 i believe NO freeze packs, NO bubbles only reason Im giving them 2 stars it seems only thing good is the food btw, once they ran out of chicken service always sucks, rude, unhappy never again its a wonderful atmosphere of termites flying around, broken nasty pillows to sit on, smelly bathrooms.... you know the downtown hollywood feeeeeeeeeel IF YOUR GOING FOR HOOKAH GO NEXT DOOR TO DOWNTOWN 28

I really loved this restaurant. I was there for dinner when I was in Florida in early November. The night we were there, the restaurant was very quiet and we were the only diners in the place. We ordered the soup (lentil), which I really enjoyed. I also loved the Greek salad and the chicken Shawarma with couscous - delicious. The Saganaki was good but didn't come on a flaming hot plate like I am used to. The server brought us a dessert on the house which was really nice of her. Our server was attentive and friendly. The food arrived promptly and was plentiful and hot and the prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant for middle eastern food in South Florida.

Very tasty Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food is served at this modestly decorated restaurant. I ordered a Gyro, my wife ordered the Chicken Schwarma. Both of which just tasted so fresh, it is hard to describe. The hummus and the couscous are delicious and compliment the main course. I was intrigued by the number variety of Hookah. The food is so good here that I am sure to return, and will make sure to give the Hookah a try!

Groupon has a 10 for 20- get it! Had the schwarma and hummus on a friday afternoon- empty which was good for my year and a half old niece who ran around and would have annoyed the other customers. Good food, great service, if i want mediterranean food again ill know where to go.

4 1/2 stars?! Yelpers, I depend on you when traveling, and was let down. You need to have your taste buds checked pronto! To start off, there was one couple eating when we walked in for lunch, and I should know by now that usually when no one else is eating at a restaurant, there's probably a good reason for that. But, I read all these rave reviews, and had to get in there and try it out. Secondly, the server was awkward beyond belief. I believe he was the only staff there working. Thirdly, everything we ordered tasted funky monkey, from the drinks to the food. I'm surprised we even stayed long enough for the check to arrive. The water had an odd metallic taste to it. The hummus was thick and pastey. The salad we ordered was soaking in dressing. The lamb schwarma tasted spoiled. We spit it out into our napkins, and asked to exchange our order for the chicken schwarma. The chicken was not much better, but at least we didn't intsa spit it out, so I guess it was edible. They seemed to be using low quality meats. I would never return, nor would I recommend trying the restaurant to anyone. One star is more like it.

I'm a die-hard middle eastern food lover, and Exotic Bites is my favorite go-to restaurant in Hollywood. I have never ordered anything that was not incredible. Don't be thrown by it's tiny venue, the servers are always attentive, the food is always perfect, and the atmosphere is very comfortable. And if you're interested in enjoying a hookah to relax with your meal, they offer that as well. On a personal note, ask if they have any Turkish coffee going... it's always delicious here.

If you aren't sure if you like Mediterranean food, then you need to try some. This place is called Exotic Bites, but there really isn't anything too exotic about Mediterranean cuisine. Meats grilled rotisserie style and sliced. Rice, humus, potatoes, pita bread, lemon, garlic, olive oil, fresh herbs....these aren't very exotic things to eat. All are pretty basic flavors that are easily enjoyed. I think sometimes people get confused by the names. "You're eating Chicken Shawarma?" Well Shawarma is the Turkish word for "turned.". As in turning on a rotisserie spit. It's then sliced off and I had it served on a bed of rice pilaf. You could really taste the wonderful garlic, lemon, and curry flavors of the chicken. It was served with a side of hummus that was also excellent. Very smooth in texture, you won't find any chunks in this hummus. I also tried some of their lemon potatoes. I wasn't too sure about ordering these as I usually don't think of mixing those two flavor combination. The potatoes were boiled, which made them moist and tender. And sure enough were completely infused with a lemon flavor. I have no idea how they did it. They came out bright yellow and were delicious. Didn't think I'd like them, but I'll order them the next time for sure. The only thing I didn't like was the extremely loud Y-100 dance music. I found this very strange. We aren't at a dance club on South Beach. It has it's place in a night club, but who wants to listen to that garbage while you are eating dinner, boom boom boom boom boom "Insert silly juvenile rap about banging ho's here"....... I mean it's Tuesday Night at 6 pm in Hollywood, FL in a mostly empty restaurant. To top it off, one of their speakers were blown and would distort at every thump. I can tell they care about the decor of their restaurant, so I have no idea why they wouldn't pick some more authentic music at a quiet volume to complete the ambiance. That said, I look forward to going back and trying some other things off the menu. I'll just bring ear plugs next time.

Excellent little middle eastern restaurant/hookah lounge. The food is excellent and the desserts are even better. Couple that with some mint tea and a nice hookah... and you've got yourself an awesome time. Definitely recommend this place to anyone in the downtown Hollywood area. (Although $17 for a hookah is a little price IMO)

Great food and prices. I love the falafel, larger and tastier than most. It is still great, but the last couple times I have been there it was not as good as it used to be. I hope this is only temporary since it is one of Hollywood's true success stories. But I will be back. It is worth the trip.

Amazing food! Atmosphere could use some work. Pillows in the window seating area need to be replaced. Bathroom stunk like pee. Service was very good, food was fantastic. If they made a few more changes I.E. new pillows, bathroom venting it would be the hidden gem it should be. I still recommend it.

Came here on a Sunday night. There was one other table & before we knew it we were the only table. Hookah was fantastic. Fiancé ordered the beef schawarama which he thorougly enjoyed. I had the Greek salad because it was late night & I wasn't too hungry. Greek salad felt authentic & was enjoyed by both of us. We got to talking to the manager who made us feel very welcome. Music from a Brazilian dj played in the background & as I told my fiancé it was "baby-making" music. Very chill, laid back atmosphere. A place you can take your buddies & hang out for a while...

This was my place when I used to live in Hollywood. Even the owned is my friend! ALL I CAN SAY IS........ I LOVE IT! The food is great, the hookahs are amazing, and the service is the best!! Better half and I ventured out on a stormy night to Exotic Bites. Because of the heavy showers early in the night we kind of had the place to ourselves. Everthing we had was delish! We did the appetizer combo and the entre combo. We had the Hummus, Babaganoush, Falafels, Chicken and Lamb Kabobs and of course the fresh heated pita. Very good and would definitely find this place after a night of drinking down there ( I hear they are open until 4am).

They are open late and have great tasting Mediterranean food. The atmosphere is more of a divey restaurant....if you could use the word dive and restaurant together. There is also a place where you can sit indian style to have your food and they seem to have a great variety of hookah if you are into that. Their hummus was also good, but on the salty side. I came with a group of ten people in the latter part of the evening and there weren't a lot of filled tables. This venue is also not that large to begin with. Anyways food didn't come out very evenly. Half the table had their food first and 15 minutes later the other half of the table got their food. So I'll give the restaurant the benefit of a doubt that there was probably only one cook back there making food and one prepping, hence the slower food service. The waitress was also probably the only waitress for the whole night and so getting our water refilled was also slow. Again I don't put a heavy weight on service, but i rate mostly on the food. There was a consensus from everyone that their food was very good. However the baklava, was not so great or rather I guess it was just more standard tasting. If I ever crave baklava I'll go to A La Turca down the street on Hollywood Blvd.

I could eat Middle Eastern food every day of the week, so I was excited to try another restaurant down here that serves it. This place did not disappoint. My friend and I decided to sit outside, and that was a mistake. A bus drove by every 10-15 minutes and stopped by us, with its exhaust pipe pointed right in our direction. That was quite unfortunate, but not the restaurant's fault. I won't make that mistake again though. I ordered the chicken kabobs with hummus and tabouli. The chicken was well-marinated and very tasty. The hummus was decent, but abandoned in favor of the delicious tabouli, which was so good I ordered more. I don't make it down to Hollywood much, but I would go out of my way to eat here again :)

It's 2am and Kelly's Pub just closed and you're starving. Walk a few steps and you're in Exotic Bites aka Hummus Heaven. I have been all over the world but no one makes Hummus like Exotic Bites. It's so rich and the warm pita is to die for. You have not lived until you've tried their hummus. When I go for a meal I typically get hummus, falafel and lady fingers. I've been going there since 2007 and I have yet to have a bad experience. The belly dancing and hookahs are a great plus to this location.

I've had more than a meal or 2 at EB and I've usually been satisfied, however, I have to say, this time around my feeling has totally changed, its like this, if I had more hands than just the 2 I'm using to type with right now I'd use every single thumb on each one of those various hands to point downward!!! F+ EB, come on, you guys have seriously fallen off, I used to sing praises pertaining to you, but now I'm sure I'll probably never eat here again, the portion was pure comedy, and oh, that's right, "they didn't have FRIES" she forgot to mention, this of course I noticed when I got home and Rambo knifed through the boy scout triple apex knot the half sleep nit-whit that took the order tied to PERFECTION mind you... Wednesday, Thursday, Friday !!! (that's a G rating for WTF!!! by the way), anyway, EB, you guys get the GAS FACE for shortening your portions and horrible service, odd how I'm still paying full price for half the food. PS - give that chic at the counter a RedBull, chased with an espresso, with a nose-dose Mickey!

Their falafels are amazing-brown & crunchy on the outside, green & nicely spiced on the inside. This with a plethora of seafood in their seafood stuffed falafels make for near perfection, Their couscous is also very well done and their service is very attentive.

Looks are deceiving. The outside area is ok, but the inside is a dump. Eat outside. As for the food...Amazing! Get the lamb shank. It is tender and delicious. They give you cous cous, tabouille, hummus, and pita to go with it. Oh, and you can get a hookah and they have belly dancers. Cool place.

Exotic bites definitely doesn't bite! As a turk I'm a die-hard middle eastern food lover, and Exotic Bites is my favorite go-to restaurant in florida for comfort food. The long drive is annoying from boca but since its open to like 4am its great on late nighters after a club to chill and have their awesome Turkish coffee its da bestest !! . if your from the middle east you can tell fake middle eastern food and this is not it! Everythihg is incredible. the place is small and well not really decorated (kinda a hole int the wawl place sorry guys ) but the servers are always friendly and the food perfect - if you're into enjoying a hookah to with your meal, they have that to. I love their salads and yogurt sauce. the chicken schwarma yummo, the serving of cous cous and izzy salad delish. The pita bread was fresh and warm. The Gyro, freshest around fresh, as are the hummus and the couscous - if you don't know what to get try the appetizer combo its Hummus, Babaganoush, Falafels, Lamb Kabobs and a pita. Thats a good choice for you newbers. Five stars start to finish. Even by bff Arzu loves it and she she's a tough turk to please.
