Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Seriously amazing Mexican food. I have never had a bad dish here. Reasonable prices and generous portions in a relaxed environment. Amazing specials too. . Try taco Tuesday ($5 all you can eat tacos when you buy a drink *can be nonalcoholic) Definitely would recommend this place!

Great food, chips, salsa and frijoles to start, my wife had the shirmp cocktail, and I had the machos burrito which was huge and delicious. Food was really fresh and service was great!! Would be back again for sure!!

let me start by saying i am SUPER picky when it comes to food all together especially MEXICAN food. This place was amazing! The food was fresh and great! The drinks where spot on! Our waitress was very friendly. The food came very fast! They had a live mariachi band who was FANTASTIC

Patron Azteca is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants out there. As I am laying in bed writing this review I am currently thinking about the juicy skirt steak I had the joy of eating last night. The Carne Asada never disappoints, and neither do those warm tortilla chips they bring to your table as soon as you are seated. Love the bean dip and salsa it comes with! I have been to the other location by State Road84, and it was more lively there. We sang a terrible version of "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" that would of had Cyndi Lauper plugging her ears and cringing her face (sorry about that Cyndi ) ! The portions of food are decent and the servers are very friendly. No doubt about it, I will be back!

I was happy to see this place open, hoping it would be a good addition to the area. Unfortunately, the food was awful. Husband's burritos were mediocre at best. I had chicken mole, which was pre-cooked chicken bits smothered in mediocre canned mole. Yech. They can't even be bothered to cook the chicken, and I can buy better quality canned mole sauce at the Super Target. Salsa was bad too, as was the crappy margarita made out of a low quality mix. I might give it one more chance just because it's so convenient to where I live. Too bad. This site is the graveyard of failed restaurants.

Americanized "Mexican" food at its most mundane. Do people really enjoy inauthentic cuisine? While the service was terrific - friendly, quick and accurate - the food was ho-hum. The plates come out covered with food, without much separation between items: " a big ole mess.". The sauce from one bled into the others. The chile relleno was above average, with a rich, cheesy filling and a nice batter. The rest was just unremarkable. The enchiladas had a "just microwaved" taste, and the hard taco was "soft" - again, like it was microwaved. The salsa (served with chips) was possibly the worst I've tasted; watery and without any freshness whatsoever. In addition, the place is so loud with clanking dishes and loud kids that it's uncomfortable. The margarita we had was big enough to be shared by both of us, and was a high point. Overall, though, there are far too many excellent choices for Mexican food in the area to waste your time on pseudo-Latin food. UPDATE: Went back again, and it was even more mediocre than the first time. The corn tortillas for the fajitas tasted like plastic. They literally must have opened a package of the cheapest ones available and slapped them in the tortilla holder. Awful.

Wow was i disappointed. I live in the area and was excited to try this place. The waitress was nice. That would be it if i followed my mothers advice that if i dont have anything nice to say dont say anything. Ugh! No other redeeming qualities. Seriously? I mAke salsa at home it takes 5 minutes and clearly they could not be bothered. The chalupa was more like a cracker, the rice starchy and well suffice it to say Ill wait till the next restaurant moves in to come back. Tip to the owners: if you dont want to be original, put in a drive thru and open a taco viva. Ofcourse taco viva's tacos were pretty good .

Every time I come the food is fresh and the service is very prompt. I recommend this place if you are looking for a good quality lunch and don't like waiting. You'll be in and out in no time with a happy stomach. On the contrary if you looking for a place just to hang out this is the place for you as well. You could be here for hours if you like.
(5)Tea s.
Great cheese enchiladas and the salsa was ok- THe verde sauce on the other hand NOT so good at all- It tasted like thick green Corona (GROSS)! Will return but will stay clear of anthing with verde sauce
(3)Olga S.
This place goes against everything Mexican food stands for -- fresh, colorful and flavorful ingredients. Everything on the plate looked like a frozen burrito was unwrapped and overheated in the microwave. Not coming back here again. There are way too many really great Mexican places in Hollywood.
(2)Arly J.
Great lunch specials and quick service. Servers are always courteous. Once seated you will receive complimentary chips, salsa and refried beans. One of my favorite dishes the Macho burrito with Shreded beef. Food is always good.
(4)Jennifer J.
Could use some ambiance updates. A trio of Mariachi comes around to each table asking if you would like them to sing for you. My grandfather used to perform at restaurants and they used to wear the whole mariachi suits and hats etc. which I feel would've made the trio at Azteca more appealing. Their music was nice to hear in the background throughout the restaurant though. The lighting is dim but not in a good way. Almost dingy feeling. Maybe its the older seating and décor. There are a lot of tables but I've never seen them filled. Maybe they can use some of the space as a stage for the mariachi or a side bar. The service was good. Not a long time waiting for food.. Food Portions were big as with most latin restaurants. Their prices were pretty average as well. I would definitely go again because its close to home and the food was ok.
(3)Astrida M.
Excellent food!! Excellent Service!! We were given the warmest welcome from the owner, who checked on us several times to make sure everything met our expectations. And it did. We had the Arroz con Mariscos with Shrimp. It was fabulous!! The appetizers were great also!! Our server, Angelique, was so attentive. We are going back again in the very near future! Great prices with lots of food. Nice and clean.
(5)Natalia D.
This doesn't even deserve a star! Service was horrible! 10min after we got our menus we got some water, then 10 mins after, chips and salsa with beans, (the ONLY good thing to eat in that place), and then we finally got to place our orders in the EMPTY restaurant! I had to get up twice to find a server at the hostess desk and the non-personalities at the front along with a personal phone call seemed to be more important and was honestly a huge disappointment. I'm Latina and have eaten in hole-in-wall food locations, and the service at these places including the food was 10x better than what we tried to eat. Margaritas were good, low budget mix though... Soups were overly salty, tacos were swimming in grease and the chicken salad my friend ordered tasted like I was eating Gumby alive! I'm so disappointed because the location off Pine Island is 5x better... At least. If anything, save ur money and NEVER visit this place. I can't stand writing this but, don't open a restaurant representing the Latin heritage and if u can't live up to it :(
(1)David N.
We've gone here several times. Everything is pretty good. The service is usually good, too. Portion sizes are pretty good and the chips and salsa are good, too!
(4)Ikam A.
This restaurant reminds me of a cafeteria. Went there once for lunch and don't plan on returning.I was expecting it to be like the Azteca on Pine Island. FALSE. The food was good, but the atmosphere was really annoying. The tables were right on top of each other and the room was too open. They were blasting really annoying Latin music (and I'm Cuban) so you couldn't hear your own conversations. The service was slow even though the place was not busy.

We live in the area and decided to try this place last Friday night when we couldn't get into the restaurant we wanted to go to. We walked in and were immediately seated in the bar area, in a booth along the East wall. The air-conditioning was blowing right down on us and although we are usually never cold, we had to move because my wife was freezing. We waited to move until our server touched base with us, which took 7 minutes from the time we were seated. He took our drink order and came back with drinks rather quickly. My $8 margarita was very good, but served in a hot glass, right out of the dishwasher. Poor service. The chips and salsa were okay, but the salsa was very watery as if it was made with tomato "juice" with hardly any tomatoes or onions in it. As we sat there another 10 minutes waiting for our server to return to take our order I watched a busboy pick up trash from the floor behind the bar, throw it away (yay!) and then handle food without washing his hands (yuck!). From the time the server took our order until the food came was way too fast for decent Mexican fare. I had the "Dos Amigos Burrito" which was fair, and she had the enchilada which was less than fair. The rice and refried beans on her plate were bland. We did not do dessert, just wanted to get out. This building has been unsuccessfully run as a restaurant for the past 10 years. Patron Azteca will join the list of defunct restaurants at this address rather quickly if they can't shape up. They don't realize that they're located in a neighborhood with fickle tastes and very loyal customers.
(2)Marcos A.
place is always excellent...especially cuz they seem to use far fresher ingredients n season their food more than every mex joint ive been to. we luv it! the 20oz 2 equis beer specials rock...and if u r into margaritas you'll b good. price is rite as well...n they start u off w warm nachos n salsa....n u can request refried beans....all as a courtesy. the ambience in the bar section is better than the dine in area....best mexican/mexican inspired ive had outside of mexico period.
(5)Monique P.
My fiance and I live in the neighborhood and have visited this restaurant on a few occasions. We love that we can share an entree and be completely satisfied for under $!5. To be honest, for the price-point, location, and fast service it's a great value. We hope more people give this place a try. Just see it, and accept it for what it is... inexpensive, fast and plentiful Tex-Mex.
(4)Denisee G.
My boyfriend and I went to this place today on the spur of the moment...and it was great! We were taking a chance not having heard anything about it, but free chips with salsa AND retried beans with crumbled cheese=good:) then we ordered the main course, the burrito dos amigos, to share. It was big enough to share, not your typical Mexican flavor, well presented, and most importantly DELICIOUS:-) the only con we noticed was that the lighting was a bit low... Otherwise, all was great. We will definitely be returning!
(5)Crystal M.
Dang it!!! I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. We have Azteca back in WA state and I love it. I went to this location a couple months ago and was really pleased. Everything tasted great and my food cam out in record time. NOT today though :( The service was sooooo slow and it was in the middle of the day when they weren't even busy. I had to ask another server to fill up my water, the food took 20 min or more to come out, then our waiter never picked up our check finally I had to take it into the bar. On the other hand the food was great. My mom kept saying how much she liked the salsa. The portions were huge with lots of cheese. I hate when I order nachos and after you eat the top layer all you have left is plain chips. Not here! I am giving this place 4 stars after taking into consideration my last visit. If this was the first time here it was a 3 star experience. :( I'll be back!
(4)Daniel K.
If you like Mexican food you will LOVE Azteca! This is a regular place for my friends and I. The margaritas are awesome and the food is even better. Try the combination platter it's inexpensive and comes with more than enough food. Recently took my family here for a birthday get together, they have a cool/fun surprise for the birthday recipient! Azteca is a great place can't say anything bad about it.
(4)B E.
I still prefer the original location (Azteca Real @ Pine Island/I-595), but service and food here is pretty good.
(3)Chad C.
Have you ever been to the Mexico pavilion at Epcot? Well then you've probably had better Mexican food. Unfortunately Patron Azteca is basic chain fare at a minimum - queso fundido squeezed out of bag, refried beans, starchy yellow rice and the ubiquitous chimichanga, burrito, fajitas and quesadillas. It's pictures on the menu and a condiments ice cream-scooped out of bin and set on colored plates kind of a place. Even the salsa seemed like funky mix of thick gooey bottled fare with a couple chopped tomatoes thrown in. In my opinion, there was just not anything original, authentic or event tasty about the place. Just not my thing i guess, but decide for yourself.
(2)Lindsay W.
Frozen fruity margaritas + Karaoke = An awesome Saturday night :)
(5)Rachele S.
Patron Azteca is cozy, fun and the food is great. Not to mention the margaritas are in my top five of all my favorite Mexican restaurants. This restaurant has authentic Mexican cuisine and also has a Mariachi band singing to the customers on some nights (by the way, the band is excellent). The service is always timely and the restaurant is well-kept. They currently have a Taco Tuesdays special were you can eat unlimited tacos with the purchase of a drink, which is well worth the deal. I personally love that the food is of good quality; it really tastes like you are having an authentic, home-cooked Mexican dish. My personal favorite is the Azteca Tortilla Soup- it comes with avocado (my favorite!) grilled chicken breast (not a pre-cooked spongy chicken, but a real chicken breast). melted jack cheese and tortilla crisps in a yummy chicken broth. My mouth is watering just describing it. I order with with a traditional margarita (yes... I know it's a lame combo, but it MY lame combo). I never turn down an invite to this place, and look forward to trying more dinner items. I highly recommend!
(4)Jess S.
OMG. the effin best tacos. And waiter Victor is an amazing hombre. Go here or you totally lose out.
(5)Thomas B.
$5.00 unlimited Taco Tuesday offered anywhere you are seated in restaurant. Options are ground beef, shredded beef, or chicken. They have a full bar plus complimentary chips and the salsa has a kick. Bartender made a custom drink after I presented the recipe to the waitress. Other dishes also well done such as queso appetizer and steak fajitas. A decent kids menu also at an affordable price. Overall, very family friendly. Always try to accommodate big groups.
(4)Janice N.
Went again, 3rd visit, again I really like the food. I had the cheese Enchilada, we also ordered a Taco salad and steak tacos. All of us enjoyed our meals. One person in our party ordered a margarite, it was happy hour so it should have been half off. The bill came and it was $9 for the Margarita. When we asked they said it was just for the bar area, which had plenty of regular tables we would have easily sat at. On top of that $9 is a little expensive for a house margarite. So I really wish they could get the service part right at the restaurant.
(2)Roxanne M.
This place is honestly THE best Mexican restaurant you can possible go to, don't let the emptiness scary because what should and what matters is the food and it's no doubt it's GOOOD!!
(5)Jolie A.
I had dinner here with my family coming to visit from out of town and they absolutely loved it. Friday evenings they have a mariachi band walking around serenading groups. My grandmother really the mariachi. This was my third time eating here and since they haven't disappointed I thought I'd share my delight. We walked in at about 6 with a party of 6 and they sat us down right away, even though it was a busy night we felt very well attended. There wasn't a long wait for the food either. My favorite appetizer is the retried bean dip for the chips. Also try their fish tacos. We had a great time and I would definitely return anther night and recommend this restaurant.

Heard about Azteca a few times and finally gave it a try for lunch since we had a few errands to run in the same shopping center. We walked into a ghosttown- not a single person was there for lunch (2:40pm).. Ok fine maybe we missed the lunch rush...our server came to take our drink order, put down chips, salsa & bean dip (which was nice) but she couldnt crack a smile to save her life. She seemed like the last thing she wanted was to be there taking our orders. Ok fine on that too- you're not always going to have a great day...so we ordered: Lunch special rice & bean burrito w/ steak fajita AND a large bowl of chicken tortilla soup. At this point I was really hoping the food would save this place but I didnt get lucky w/ that either. My soup was pretty boring, just a few pieces of chicken breast, more tortilla strips than anything and a couple of avocado pieces w/ melted mozzarella cheese on top of a clear broth? Very little flavor so I asked for a lime wedge to give it some umph. My husbands dish was just "ok" too. Now I know he ordered a rice & bean burrito but it this thing came out like the sorriest rice & bean burrito ever. You cant just smother a dish in cheese and call it a day.The only thing tasty was the actual steak on his platter but if it was cooked anymore it would have been destroyed. Maybe everyone else has been getting so full on chips & salsa & bean dip that they havent realized how uninspired the actual food is here! Not coming back :(

I didn't have terribly high expectations of tex mex in Broward county, but sometimes you just have a calling for a burrito smothered in sauce and cheese. Margies were average. Chips were warm and seasoned but a little tough (but that just might be a preference for super thin chips). Salsa was great- just enough heat to clear the sinuses of a Midwestern girl. Bean dip was an added bonus for the one of us who likes beans. Burrito blanco was a little overwhelming in its garlic and salt, the sauce was almost Alfredo-esque. And the tamale was just ok. Staff was not exactly engaged, but they were friendly enough. Prices were average for sit-down-and-get-waited-on service. When the food is too heavy for someone from deep-fried country, it might be a bit much. But that's not to say I won't come back when the urge for a chimichanga sets in.
(2)Sebastiana B.
I love this place. This is definitely the spot if your craving Mexican food. Every time I go i sit by the bar. They serve complimentary chips, salsa and refried beans. So delicious! They also have 2 for 1 margaritas and beer for happy hour. The portion sizes are pretty big. When u go i get stuffed splitting an app and entrée with my boyfriend. Definitely try the chicken taquitos, the steak fajitas, churasco, and enchiladas 3 ways. This is definitely worth stopping by.
(4)Francisca B.
This Mexican restaurant is better than you'd expect. The complimentary chips and salsa are delicious and authentic, as is the refried beans and cheese. The Presidential Margarita is strong and tasty, and the sangria is great, too. I usually get filled up on the chips and dip (even when I promise myself I won't) and order from their appetizer menu. I recently had a delicious veggie quesadilla with spinach and other vegetables. The prices are fair, especially considering that you get 2 complimentary dips. There is a Chili's in the same plaza. Steer clear of it and go to Patron Azteca.
(4)Alex L.
Order the fajitas for 2. You won't be disappointed. It's really enough food for 3. Came here during the week for an earlyish dinner. I had seen the building many times, but for some reason or another just never had the desire to step in. After a few weeks of Yelping, I was tired of checking into the same old places, and was trying for the Mexi-can badge. The wife suggested we try this place. It was close and serves Mexican food. The doorway is an impressive attempt at trying to make you feel like you are in a barrio in Mexico, and the interior decorations are along this line as well. The place is clean and smells like a rice and bean fiesta (as long as you don't go to the restroom, which has its own horrendous stench)... The wait staff is friendly and attentive. The food was surprisingly fantastic. The fish was nothing short of amazing. Please fix the bathroom.

I have been a fan of this restaurant for many years. For anyone who thinks this restaurant is not the same ownership as the Azteca on Pine Island, you are wrong. I spoke with the manager and he said they are same ownership. Does not take much to know it is, you open the menu and it is identical. The dining area is large and in another room they have a large bar area. We got seated at a booth, our server brought over chips and salsa along with refried beans. I love their chips and salsa, nice and spicy with fresh diced onions and plenty cilantro with great flavoring. I ordered a steak fajita quesadilla with rice and beans. When are dishes arrived we could not believe the size. They give you very large portions. Also it was 2 for 1 happy hour and my daughter got a beer and I chose a Margarita on the rocks. Star dropped quickly due to how terrible my Margarita was. Very low quality tequila and way to much sour mix. I switched to beer and our server did not give me any problem about it. She was friendly, a bit slow in checking and refilling our waters but it was OK. My quesadilla was excellent as usual. The food is very consistent here. We also were here late afternoon and the music playing was top 40's, a decent level. Keep in mind when you come to this restaurant it normally is great to come with friends and just eat great food, drink and have fun. It is not the kind of place you come to for low noise or for a romantic evening. It would have been a four star for me if the margarita was better and maybe quicker service. Across from our booth was the Christmas tree they put up with a little area with a large mirror. Huge mistake, what??? Never put a mirror in the dining area. As I sat there trying to enjoy my dinner I think every single employee and customer stopped, checked out their ass, their hair, their makeup, oh my lord it was beyond ridiculous. Please do your guest a favor, take down that mirror. Great food, OK service, see you again!

I came here last night and forgot to check in or take photos, I was a little distracted. The food was absolutely fantastic. I haven't had Mexican food in a while and it was the beau's choice last night. Great choice indeed. We were in the area and I couldn't really think of any Mexican restaurants then I remembered coming here with my mom in the past. I remembered that they have a really good vegetarian choice. On this visit I actually ordered a modification from the menu because I've recently become vegan and it was so easy. I wasn't sure if my waitress actually understood what I was asking for but the entree came out just as I wanted. I ordered the Spinach Enchilada with steamed vegetables instead of spinach lol! No cheese or sour cream with black beans and white rice. It was soooo good. The waitress said I wasn't able to substitute guacamole for sour cream but that was okay in my book. The plate was plenty. The beans and rice alone were delicious not to mention the enchilada itself. It was two little corn tortillas stuffed with fresh broccoli, corn, zucchini, onions and i think cauliflower smothered in verde sauce. Honestly, this place is awesome and I can't wait to come back. I will most definitely be recommending this for anyone who wants Mexican food! Awesome, awesome, awesome!

Patron Azteca has become a solid place for me. Sometimes the service is spotty but most of the times its good. Free chips*warm, salsa that's fresh, and beans that excel a lot of the bland beans u get at most Mexican places makes patron stand out some. *There's a Item that is not on the Menu that u can order and its amazing for a party of 2.Order the (Plato Fiesta ( it brings grill steak, chicken , bacon wrapped shrimp , rice beans , roasted veggies, a couple of tortillas it's a party in your mouth people. lol The Horchata is on point (not watered down ) and the Mexican pizza is really good. Weekends they have a trio that will sing for free at your table side. (give them a tip people *Hint*

Pretty darn good for lunch, and yes it was a bit empty here for lunch. They run specials during the week for lunch but not on Weekends. The food itself was great, authentic Mexican. The bean dip was a nice plus as well. Ultimately, I think we'll be back as our time here we had prompt service, good food. The environment could use some updating, but other than that... pretty good.

This place is better than the location in Davie. The food was much better and the atmosphere is more authentic. I ordered a chicken dish that came with rice, beans and guacamole. The portion size was excellent and the fact that the tortilla chips are bottomless is a huge plus. The churros were decent although I probably wouldn't have ordered dessert if I didn't have a coupon. The waiter was very nice and friendly. He refilled our drinks and he made sure that everything was ok. If I'm in the mood for Mexican, this place is definitely one of the best in the area.

Good Mexican restaurant in the Kohl's/Publix shopping center. Taco Tuesdays give you unlimited tacos for five dollars with the purchase of a drink. Good Margaritas, if a little too expensive. Nice bar. Complimentary chips, salsa and REFRIED BEANS are very good. Good alternative to next door Chili's.

Once upon a time this place used to be a Bennigan's. I cannot give any rational thought as to why I have been avoiding trying this restaurant that I pass by almost on a daily basis. Perhaps I was just awaiting the perfect moment to go in. And that moment happened to be yesterday. After making some hard decisions regarding the cutest baby clothes for this next size at the stores in the shopping plaza, I decided that I just did not have the energy to go home and cook. Walking through the parking lot, well, there stands Patron Azteca like the giant elephant in the room questioning why I have never been there. We walked up to the door. It was lighted and you could tell that it was going for a Mexican theme. There weren't many other patrons there on a Monday night around 8 pm. We were immediately seated. Chips, salsa, and bean dip were almost instantaneously served. The reason why I dropped a star is because my husband immediately returned from the restroom from washing his hands, saying that it was a very uncomfortable smelly situation. He told the manager on duty, and was told that they were sorry, but that the sewage had backed up, and there was nothing they could do. The hubs told them that they could have gone and bought some air freshener. It did not smell in the restaurant- My only other concern is that it is so bright in there! There is no mood lighting going on for the dinner scene. The waiter was friendly, and served our drinks quickly with a genuine smile. But the main course was definitely the best part of our experience. We ordered the fajitas for 2. Our choices were beef, chicken, and fish (I do not eat shrimp). I have to say of the three, though all were very delicious, the fish was the best. The portion was HUGE and we each got our own dish of bean dip and salsa to put into the wraps. We were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. Now that we have tried it, we will definitely go again.

I've been coming here quite often, and today was the first day I was really pleased. The food was so hot and fresh, it made my mouth water. My fiancé loves the unlimited tacos for $5, I'm not very fond of those. I ordered the side of fries. Really well seasoned. The only bad part is the waitress. She hardly ever visits the table, and it has taken her over 15 minutes to bring three simple tacos with only cheese. Makes me a bit mad to finish my dinner before my fiancé even gets his second batch of tacos.

I agree it's difficult to find really really good Mexican food in the area. So, the first time I came here, I was skeptical. Well... Now I've been back three times and it never ceases to impress. First visit here I ordered the chicken blanco--- so good. The portion is huge and mainly filled with chicken and veggies, not the typical mirage of tiny portions on a huge bed of rice. The jalapeño cream sauce was tasty, and I'm not usually a can of cream sauces because they can get too rich. Second visit I ordered the Queso dip and tacos al pastor. Queso was really good- I could've just eaten than and been fine. They offered to refill our chips without being asked and I combined a few bites with their super fresh salsa to make it a little chunkier. The al pastor was excellent-- but def a lot of food. I'm glad I was splitting it! My last visit I went back to the pollo blanco because I had been craving it. Still amazing the second time around! Service is typically good because whenever we go to restaurant seems empty. Not sure why. Servers are attentive. Hope this place stays around, I really like it!

Tacitos: flour tortilla deep fried stuffed with shredded chicken and Monterey cheese, which was absolutely divinely making out with my tongue.
(5)Shelly C.
Good food and fast service! Portions are heavy and lots of choices to choose from. The mango frozen margarita is delicious! Wouldn't suggest the sangria :-/ ..Dinning in you get complementary chips salsa and bean dip..I have been serval times and food and service has been consistently good... And on Tuesdays until 5 or 6 pm all you can eat tacos for $5!
(4)Kevin H.
Being from Southern California, I appreciate good Mexican food. That's what I have consistently gotten here. I'm not going to write a blow by blow description of the food and/or the service. Suffice to say that I have never had a bad meal or a reason to complain. Good food and good service. What more could you ask for?
(5)Ashlie M.
everything was surprisingly good ( i know tons of people that said THIS azteca sucked compared to the one out west) I love everything chips and salsa was good. they have a mariachi band going around to each table that was good entertainment food was good idk why anyone wouldnt like it here cheap and food is tasty
(4)Robert C.
Fun place. Stopped in after a flight. The portions are huge and the food was great. They had a guitar trio show up just as we where leaving.
(4)Nataly E.
Love this place! The appetizer that is included with every meal (chips, salsa and refried beans topped with feta) is delicious. The chips are always warm, fresh and never with to much salt. The salsa tastes homemade and the refried beans with feta is seriously addicting! Good place to have quality Mexican food at an affordable price.
(4)Amanda H.
Overall a great experience. They give you bean dip, salsa and chips to start. I got the shrimp, chicken and steak fajitas. Everything was delicious, especially the steak!
(4)Jodi C.
I seriously don't know why I even gave this place another try, guess I just want to really like this place...sad news, I can't!! My husband and I came here for lunch on Friday and was extremely disappointed. We were sat immediately and I noticed that only three tables had customers...place was empty! After we were seated, we were immediately served some chips and salsa. This was the best part of the meal. Chips were warm and crispy and the salsa had the right amount of heat. Unfortunately, we had no beverages, no silverware and no napkins to go with our chips. A few minutes later they also served us some refried beans. The beans were cold and nasty. 10 minutes later I finally got up and went to the hostess station and asked if we will be getting a server anytime soon...she replied 'oh, no one came to your table?' My reply 'No, but all the servers looked at our table'. The hostess was at our table about two minutes later and doubled as our server. I couldn't understand why, there were about 4 servers all standing around in the back. Whatever! We were both on our lunch break and didn't have time to wait much longer. My husband ordered the Sizzling Steak Fajita with rancho beans. I ordered the Steak Quesadilla. My husbands fajita came out, minus the sizzle and the rancho beans and my order, well, I guess they misunderstood quesadilla for a fajita. We both ended up with the same meal. The server left so fast I couldn't even tell him. 7 minutes later when the server returned, it wasn't even our hostess/waitress, I explained it wasn't what I ordered, he offered to bring it back but I declined, we were on a time crunch. The fajitas were so-so. Steak was extremely salty and the rice was hard, dry and clumped together. No one ever came back to check on us until they saw us sitting and not eating. The server finally came over with a drink refill for my husband, not for me...umm, my drink was empty as well. A few minutes later we were brought our check, paid and left. We were both so disappointed with our lunch experience we just laughed and were reminded why don't go to Azteca! Taco Bell would have been a better choice!

Great prices.. Fast and friendly service.. Music..Happy hour deals.. Taco Tuesday 5 dollar all you can eat tacos...Food is Yum! What else can I say... Love this place..
(5)Rachel S.
I joined a group of friends here for a happy hour last night. I did not know what to expect. I was happy to see that they were located in the large shopping plaza on Sheridan and had plenty of parking. At the bar happy hour goes on till 6:30 where house drinks (margaritas and other liquor), wine, and beer are 2 for 1. The prices are good for drinks. I tried the margarita. It was very sweet; tasted like it was made from a mixture and there was too much mixture. I had requested no salt but found it on the glass anyway. I also shared some Mojo de Ajo; shrimp and mushroom dish. That was quite tasty. I would order that again. We were also served fresh chips and salsa at the bar. The service was pretty friendly. Overall it was a fun experience. I'd come back with a group of friends. More for the atmosphere and food than for the drinks.

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food this is not the place. Totally Tex-Mex. Salsa was like tomato sauce and the bar tender didn't know how to make a michelada. Menu options were more to please the American palate and the only hot sauce offered was tapatio.
(1)Joe C.
Great food at a great price. Tuesday is the day to go! 5.00 all you can eat tacos and two for one house margaritas. Great service too.
(4)Bob C.
I travel the state of FL daily and have never found good Mexican food south of Orland. Very fresh, authentic, and affordable. I read a couple of reviews that weren't very positive that seemed out of place from the others. They've probably used to Taco Bell. I have very good friends from Mexico that own a chain of very popular restaurants up north, and this one is just as good. I had the enchiladas en mole. Mole sauce was very good and I'd swear homemade. I will definitely be back regularly to try everything on the menu.
(5)Mira I.
I've been here for lunch a few times and love it... Service is quick and friendly, never a wait and the food is never disappointing. Im not crazy about the beef just because the seasoning it a little heavy but everything else I've tried with chicken had been excellent. They bring complimentary chips, salsa and refried beans to the table right away. The chips are always hot and crunchy!
(4)Jeffrey A.
have had way better. The food was heavy, greasy. Ive had a better burrito fall off the back of a garbage truck when in cali.
(2)Nicole H.
My mole enchiladas were bland and overpriced compared to other more authentic / hole-in-the-wall restaurants, but portions are large and if you're into the cost-for-calories thing, this place is a good bang for your buck. I'd rate the enchiladas 2/5, but a couple of free perks (namely some delicious salsa that tastes like it's homemade plus a good helping of complimentary bean dip) raise my rating to 3 stars. I probably wouldn't choose to return, but for the immediate mall area, this is a decent option.
(3)Fernanda A.
I llive close by decided to try mexican for a change... Server was attentive nachos were awesome!! as a starter I liked the re fried beans with cheese and also the salsa. Sangria was very nice ... As far as my food... I ordered the Garlic Shrimp which they were very spicy hot something that was not exactly specified ,my boyfriend and my other two friends did enjoy their food... for a first time I'm not crazy about the place but I would provably give it a try in the future again.
(3)Carlos V.
What!!!!! This place is beyond insane! Got the lunch Poco# 3 with chicken a la crema which is a must when ordering... add the crema! Too bad it's so far from my house, but when by the airport, which is frequent, this is my stop every time. My only gripe... They don't have Jarritos drink. What Mexican joint doesn't have Jarritos?? Any way, I'll bring my own next time.
(4)Tirzah B.
I have been here a few times, and the service is TERRIBLE today. When my server came over, he didn't ever say hello or his name. He said "and to drink?" Went to the table in front of me twice before he got to me again. Not even trying to fake that he's interested in taking care of me for my visit. Wish I'd made a different choice.
(2)Mark L.
There's parts of me that would like to give them 0-1 star, and parts 3 stars, but over all, a pretty disappointing experience. Not so bad though, that in a pinch, I wouldn't return. Simply because A) it's very close and B) South Florida has a horrible "authentic Mexican" restaurant selection. Decor could use some sprucing up and the waitress was lack luster. It aint no Jaliscos. After reading a bunch of their reviews though, I can say, I am a little confused. NOT, what I would call "real Mexican". Not really SoCal Mexican, not Mexican Mexican, but kinda a little more towards Tex Mex. Let's start with the bad and work out way out of the hole. The sangria was absolutely horrid. Don't be tempted! Tasted like canned orange juice, bottled lime juice topped off with some cheap grenadine & Boones Farm or MD 20/20 and a cherry. Yuck. Yuck, yuck yuck. That being said, the Salsa Fresca was pretty darn good. Homemade and as salsa should be. The service however, was pretty much 1 star. Our waitress didn't really seem to give a give a crap. Not really friendly, not really attentive, just "there". Kinda. Her attitude and body language screamed "get me out of this place". Few of the staff seemed like they really wanted to be there from what I could see. After not offering to bring any water, she kinda got an attitude as I went to the bar to grab a glass as my wife was choking on a chip that went down the wrong way. The entrees came out fast and hot and I'd rate them pretty good. Carne Asada was more like a palomilla, but tasty. The chile relleno was really great, as were the little roasted hot peppers it came with. Loving hot foods this was a nice touch. Again waitress missed the mark when she forgot the queso dip and wanted to bring it after the main got there. Yuck.. again. That stuff is at best only ok when you are either starving, or just drunk, and the place doesn't offer a big bowl of fresh guacamole or cervichi to start with. Otherwise it would be akin to covering your food in smoldering Velveeta. Perhaps I've spent too much time on the Mexican coast and Southern California, but those two above mentioned menu items, along with great simplistic margaritas, cold beer, a good fish taco and a killer Pollo en Mole is MY definition of a great authentic Mexican place. I didn't try the beer or the mole...but I doubt it would have got them an extra star. Sorry, but not tonight. Hours later I can still taste that pathetic dammed sangria. If only I had some cheese queso and roasted hot peppers now.
(2)Tom S.
Happy hour is a must. The margaritas and tacos are really good. Great place for lunch.
(3)Jonathan C.
The slowest service I have ever encountered in my life. Food was average Mexican but it took 45 mins from the time I ordered till I got my food. Go elsewhere
(1)Krys L.
Best Mexican food I have ever had anywhere! Haven't heard good things about the one in dania, but this location is spot on every time. It's a shame that the service use to be outstanding but now they have girls there that do nothing but stand around talking to each other while you wait to order. This alone has made me question if I ever want to go back. I'm giving 5 stars based on 5 star food quality... Service gets 1 star.
(5)Dan B.
Always great food and Margaritas. This evening tried the Shrimp Cocktail. Excellent! Also tried the Carne Asada Burrito. Wonderful flavor!
(5)Linda b.
I go to this restaurant at less once a week. Food is great for the price and good quality and quantity. Don't even have to tell my server Louis what to serve me for drink, as he knows without me telling him. Lunch time marguerita $4..
(4)Neal O.
This place might be the worst I've gone to, visited two times and never going back. Went here on 6/3/13. Went for a luncheon with the career placement class in my school and it was across the street from my school (Sheridan Technical Center) on 6/3/13. The salsa for the chips tasted very horrible than I've had at Chili's but the chips taste good. I had a chicken Mexican pizza and the brown sauce they put on it made me vomit so I had to end up rushing to their restroom very fast two times. The service are nice but I wouldn't recommend this place if you just had experience of food poisoning. Went there for the same occasion last year 6/5/12 and I had a chicken burrito and same thing happen to me but a couple weeks after I had it. What a waste of my money!

(5)Kenneth N.

I was really in the mood for a 'Renegade Sirloin' from Longhorn but when we found out we would have about an hour wait to be seated (even with our call ahead) we opted to try the place next door. We were on Sheridan, in Hollywood and in the next parking lot we saw this place. "Hmmmm," Michelle said, "how 'bout some Mexican?" I okayed it and in we went. Patron Azteca is a typical looking Mexican restaurant. Decorated in beiges, yellows and a Mariachi band on Friday and Saturday nights. They have several tables that are comfortably placed to allow plenty of room. You don't feel like you're just an extended part of the table next to you. We were cordially greeted and seated immediately. It was about 8:30 PM so the prime eating crowd had already passed through. We were served a plate of bean dip, chips and salsa while we gave our drink order and checked out the menu. The menu was 'gigante' and had too many wonderful sounding items available. It became what I call 'the misery of choice.' Which item to choose. There were so many that I wanted to try. Not only did they have all the traditional Mexican dishes that you can find in every other cantina but they also have many other more obscure dishes which looked and sounded fabulous. Illona took the Borrego: Mexican lamb shank. Michelle chose a burrito and Steven and I picked the combination plates which come with a plethora of choices, including just about all of the well known favorites with our choice of fillings. Since we are both 'macho' men we had to have the 'macho' combination. Three items with out choice of fillings and two sides. Steve got a beef enchilada, tamale and taco while I chose a ground beef enchilada, a ground beef burrito and a picadillo tamale with sides of refried beans and Mexican rice. While we waited for our entrees Steve and I each tried a cup of the tortilla soup. I overloaded mine with the spicy salsa to kick it up a notch and paid the price with teary eyes and a runny nose afterwards. We were thoroughly blown away when our dinners were served. The portions were beyond humongous and even dwarfed the oversized 15" platters that they were served on! Steve's double-handed giant taco was a meal in itself. The burritos were at least twelve inches long and a couple of inches thick and the enchilada stretched almost all the way across the plate. As with most Mexican places, we were advised of the hot plates and cautiously dived in. Everything tasted just as good as it looked. The enchilada was perfect and the burrito was delicious. The tamale was a little different than what I was expecting but still tasted good. Everyone loved what they had ordered. But we had all ordered WAY too much food! The portions were so big there was enough to take home for another meal. A dessert was in order and we ordered some coffee and tea to go with it. One dessert and four spoons ended the meal. The service was friendly and accomodating but the mariachi band quits at 9pm so we didn't get much of a chance to hear them. I will definitely return to Patron Azteca in the future. There are about ten items on the menu that I want to try including the Molcajete and the moles. If you see me there be sure to tell me you read about it here.
(4)Andy C.
hey. ..this was OK. nothing special but not bad at all. the food was typical Mexican. I had the skirt steak. solid. the margarita was strong but had the premixed sour mix. the child and salsa was run of the mill. not a bad place to take the kids.
(3)Olga S.
This place goes against everything Mexican food stands for -- fresh, colorful and flavorful ingredients. Everything on the plate looked like a frozen burrito was unwrapped and overheated in the microwave. Not coming back here again. There are way too many really great Mexican places in Hollywood.
(2)Renee C.
(5)Willy M.
Great food, chips, salsa and frijoles to start, my wife had the shirmp cocktail, and I had the machos burrito which was huge and delicious. Food was really fresh and service was great!! Would be back again for sure!!
(4)Jessica B.
let me start by saying i am SUPER picky when it comes to food all together especially MEXICAN food. This place was amazing! The food was fresh and great! The drinks where spot on! Our waitress was very friendly. The food came very fast! They had a live mariachi band who was FANTASTIC
(5)Arly J.
Great lunch specials and quick service. Servers are always courteous. Once seated you will receive complimentary chips, salsa and refried beans. One of my favorite dishes the Macho burrito with Shreded beef. Food is always good.
(4)Brittany M.
(4)Crystal M.
(5)David N.
We've gone here several times. Everything is pretty good. The service is usually good, too. Portion sizes are pretty good and the chips and salsa are good, too!
