I have been here about three times. The food is really good. I usually judge a Mexican place by the quality of their Pico de Gallo and guacamole. ( just my thing) Pico is fresh and avocados are very delicious full of flavor. I've had the all their Tortas, fajitas, all their tacos, steak fajita, nachos. All that I had was very flavor full. Presentation? There only so much you can do with Mexican food. The food does look very appetizing and delicious. There's only one thing I've had that was very disappointing. That was the bean and cheese dip. They have a awesome Michelada. Michelada is huge. I have to say the service is very slow and so is the kitchen. Inside the restaurant definitely feels like a Mexican restaurant with sombreros, piñata do some lady painted on the wall.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant EVER! I stumbled upon it by chance and have been a regular customer since. Excellent customer service, extremely authentic cuisine, and a casual ambiance. Perfect for an after-beach lunch spot or a cute date night. Very inexpensive, particularly for what you get. I have never left unsatisfied.

The food were delicious! I definitely liked that as soon as we sat down our waitress had some chips and salsa for us. She even gave us another round of chips and salsa after we finished the first batch. The food came in hot and with reasonable portions. Our waitress checked in with our group from time to time, so we didn't feel abandoned. Definitely would go again if I'm in the area!

Best Mexican in Hollywood! Huge plates so if you're not a huge eater, order a margarita, chips and salsa and split an entree. Plenty big for two. :) chorizo cheese dip is out of this world.

My wife and I had dinner here on 2-21-15 and I cannot say enough about the restaurant. The food was excellent and the service even better. My wife is of Mexican heritage and she said that it was just like eating her mom's food when she was a kid. The place is definitely authentic. They also had live music which just knocked our socks off. We will eat here again and next time take some friends.

Awesome. Good prices, food and music. Fair service. Great location in the Hollywood circle.

Great tacos! Delicious refried beans and fresh salsa. Get the Chorizo dip, you won't regret it! One of the few places that makes excellent mojitos! Our service was also top notch and the prices are fair! We will come here again.

Yes, I love Mexican food, probably could eat it everyday if I could. We met some friends in Hollywood and I suggested checking this place out because I had it bookmarked for awhile. Located right on the main strip in Hollywood which was nice we got to do a bit of pre-drinking beforehand at a local bar. The restaurant is decorated in Mexican colorful pictures, hats, etc...the dining area is not big and they have a small bar located in the back of the restaurant. We walked in no reservations on a Saturday night and they made room for us as our party was 6 people. Server came over took our drink order chips and salsa arrived right after. Loved the thin fresh chips and the salsa was excellent, having cilantro and diced onions with a thin watery consistency yet it had chunks of diced tomatoes. Perfect. The margaritas were a big disappointment for me, small, weak, and way to sweet. Stick to beer here, I guess. I did switch to Corona and it was ice cold, nice. We ordered some queso and guacamole dip for the table. The queso was your typical, nothing special, the guacamole was good. Our server was very nice, yet we waited for water several times and at the end never got any. Huge issue when you are eating spicy dishes. The hot salsa is just that. The tip of my tongue felt like it needed to be cut off. To hot for me but for some I could see liking it. I ordered steak fajitas and they were very good. The meat was good quality, cooked medium rare, yay and it was drenched in onions and peppers with a side of rice and beans. The tortillas were flour, yay as I am not wild about corn tortilla's. All in all I was quite pleased with my entree. Then my daughter ordered the chicken burrito and it was excellent. I loved it. Hubs ordered shrimp diablo which was another great dish. A lady started to sing and dance, yes they even have live entertainment. Made for a fun evening. Will I visit again, yes for the food. If they had better service and margaritas it would have been four stars for me. Worth checking out, Ole!

I have been here twice for dinner. If you arrive before 7pm they have happy hour drink specials. The inside of the restaurant is pretty cute, with lots of Mexican-themed decorations. Both times I was here I ordered the Fajitas Texanas to share between 2 of us. The fajitas are not the best I have had, but they are pretty good, and the prices are very reasonable. We will be back when we have a hankering for Mexican!

  • Julie D.

This is your typical Mexican restaurant. The chips and salsa were great, but the guacamole had a funky flavor and I would not recommend ordering it. I ordered the mixed fajitas and they were tasty. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely.

  • Leslie M.

Yuk! There was a roach crawling up the wall at my booth. The waiter grabbed it with a napkin and said sorry. Then asked if I was done with my meal. Duh! I'll never go back. So disappointed.

Super friendly staff. The margaritas are excellent... specially the size! Go big or go home. Definitely get the Guac!

Place had good food but didn't add too much rice in my opinion I like rice a lot but the rice was a bit sticky I order ca marones a la Diabla which were really good and spicy if your into spicy food I also order a passion fruit margarita that was ok they did take long to take our order but overall was really good food

While the food was filling, I have no idea where the "Best Mexican in Town" rant is coming from.Myself, I wasn't impressed. I've had much better authentic Mexican food in several other restaurants around town. They did come quickly with salsa and chips. Salsa wasn't bad, but lacked zip. I opted to order some pico de gallo while I waited for my combo meal. It looked really good when it came to the table, but somebody completely forgot the salt and lime to finish the batch off. I asked the waiter to bring me both to fix it. I cannot say that I will be going back.

Best margaritas ever, delicious food, excellent service, and very cheap prices. To top it off, live music on the weekends :)

This place is my favorite last minute go to stop. Everything on the menu never fails me from the carnitas to the quesadillas I love this place. This time I ordered the Steak & Pollo loco which I have ordered in a while and of course it was still GREAT. The portion sizes are always great I can never finish in one sit in. Ice tried other Mexican restaurants but always find myself coming back here. The staff are awesome, they always remember us when we go. At on point the owner mentioned opening a location on Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale but it hasnt happened, it would be great if that happens since I work in Fort Lauderdale this would be a closer location to me, although I don't mind driving to downtown Hollywood. Great gem!

Great authentic Mexican food at great prices. The house specialty Super Orale with steak chicken and shrimp makes this the best Mexican restaurant in Broward County

Pope Smokes!!! This place is great! I think that I have finally found my spot. The next time I'm asks where to get some good Mexican in The Miami area I'm gonna say Orale!!

  • Berberry W.

I've been a customer for 2 years. Always consistent, service and food, with a great atmosphere and view of Hollywood blvd activity. Quesadilla Orale! is a must try! HUGE! Crispy, flour tortilla folded in half and filled with white meat shredded chicken with great flavor and perfectly grilled onions with melted cheese inside. Flautas are also very good. Excellent! Margaritas are always good, even house ones, and a great buy during happy hour. I judge a Mexican joint by its chips and salsa, believe me this place passed with flying colors from the first day I was there.

  • Krmg K.

I love this place. Service is great. Maragarita's are delic and they have a great special 3 to 7 on the margaritas. Usually order the dinner combo for 2. Guacamole is delicious. Can't beat the food for a great price.

  • Gigi R.

im already iffy on this choice calling them they seem irritated im sorry but its not my fault you guys didnt decide on making a website or having a meeting to tell everyone what the "specials" are the outside seating is the only thing thats selling me

  • Jules H.

The service was horrible. We arrived and were told to sit wherever we wanted. We ordered guacamole and it was great. That was the only good thing about the whole experience. We ordered our meal and we waited and waited. 45 minutes later our dinner arrived. No one ever checked on us. We had to find our waiter for more water, salsa, ask where our food was, etc. The service was about non existent. My food was just edible. I ate it because I was hungry and afraid if I asked for anything else we'd have to wait who knows how long? My husband liked his meal somewhat. We will not be returning due to the horrible, slow service and mediocre meals.

This place is great! Awesome service and food. Portions are very large! The service is great, fast and very helpful. Food is delicious best Mexican in Florida!

  • Tricia S.

We went here for lunch and it was great! Prices are great! Chips, salsa and guacamole were delicious. I had the taco salad and it was yummy. My friend had the Orale quesadilla and it was beyond delicious! The onions chorizo, and creamy cheese melded perfectly into the thin crispy tortilla. It was so good. Amount of cheese was perfect, no too much at all. Next time, I think I will be getting the shrimp quesadilla. I highly recommend this restaurant for great Mexican food at an affordable price!!

The decor needs some updating, but the restaurant is clean. Carne Asada tacos were great, and the salsa picante was killer. Worth coming back.

You know, since moving to South Florida we've been on the search for a good Mexican food restaurant. We decided to check out Orale since it's nearby and I've heard it's pretty good. On Thursday night we went in to a not-so-busy joint. The atmosphere is bright, colorful and clean. They even have a huge big screen in the middle of the room if you're into watching the game. Our waiter came over promptly and took our drink order. We decided order a round of beers. When we got them, they were Icy Cold which I love. They brought out the chips and salsa. I always say a Mexican restaurant is only as good as their salsa. If that isn't good, then forget the rest. I was pleased that it was indeed very good. I decided to order the steak tacos. When they arrived, they came out with nothing on them which I thought was odd, but then they brought out a plate with pico de gallo and then a nice spicy sauce. The order came with three "street style" tacos and they were pretty good. Overall the service here was pretty good and attentive. When the meal was over they brought out our check. Here is where I have some concern for this place. Our bill comes out and with two orders of tacos, an order of Chiles Poblanos and 4 beers and the bill comes to $68. I never really gave it much thought when I was paying until we left and I thought to myself, wow that seemed kind of steep. Shame on me I guess. With the calculations, I think it had to be the cost of the beers that brought the price up. I can't justify giving this place a bad rating because of this. I just think we need to go during happy hour... Olé!

Finally got up to the neighborhood to try this place out and I REALLY wanted to give it 4 stars buttttttttt the margaritas just were not good. VERY UNFORTUNATE because everything else was sooooo tasty! Chips and salsa were delicious. I always commend Mexican places that have awesome salsa!!! Ask for the spicy one if you re brave enough. I had just a pinch and was in physical pain! That is not to say the spicy salsa wasn't good, just way too hot for my tastes. The queso was queso. Cant really go wrong in that department, but the portion was a little on the smaller side for the price. I ordered the Burrito Loco and was a little nervous I was going to be embarrassed by how large it was, but it was just right! It normally comes with shredded chicken and ground beef but I opted for just the chicken. Man oh man was it good!!!! Nice and filled with rice, beans, cheese, and PLENTY of chicken. I have to say it is one of the best burritos I have had. I would probably drive up there just for the burrito. The portion was still big and I had leftovers. The rice on the side was very good as well! Only complaints: -Margaritas were small, weak, and a watered down mix. I would stick with Corona next time. -Service was a bit off. Our waiter was very nice and got us everything we asked for, but a lot of the time it was hard to find him. Also, having to ask for water refills multiple times didn't sit well with me (we never got the refills). DESPITE, my minor complaints I will be heading back this way soon for that yummy yummy burrito and chips and salsa for sure!!!! Wish it was closer to meeee!

PERFECTION !!!! Complimentary chips and Salsa was great ! Service was great! I had the pollo norteno, I definitely recommend it !! The chicken, steak, pork was so tender and full of taste ! If your looking for a legit Mexican restaurant, then this is the place !!!! Amazing !!!!!

A a Mexican food aficionado, this place is a good staple for the Hollywood area. I have found that most of the food served on Hollywood Blvd. is almost inedible, so this is the place where I go when I know I have to meet someone for dinner in the area and I want some food that I know will at least satisfy me. Like many other yelpers, I recommend the Orale Sampler: it provides a little of everything and one does not leave hungry. I have also eaten the tacos, which are not bad. Other than this, the restaurant is rather unremarkable like many of the establishments in the area.

  • Jenni R.

I go here sometimes when I am in the Hollywood area. Loved everything I have ever had here and prices (esp for lunch) are pretty decent for mexican. Love the chips and salsa. The only prblem is trying to back out of the parking space on Hollywood blvd. Dog friendly when you sit outside.

  • Brandee S.

Went here with a group of friends, there were about 8 of us. The food was delicious and the service was very quick and efficient. The atmosphere was great and there was a fun band playing outside. I would recommend this place, especially for a large party

Yeah Usually we love Orale but today was a special kind of lacking. first of all, we get seated, waiting for a while and no one asks us what we want to drink. Finally, someone comes to the table, after they've been to the other tables a bunch of times and asks us what we want to drink. We order and it takes a super long time to get anything. No one is rushing to wait on other tables or anything, they're just chilling doing side work. (yes, I've been a waitress and bartender several times so I understand, not like they're slammed or anything). They finally bring our drinks after we ask them for water after waiting for 20 minutes for SOMETHING. clue not taken. very well. we order appetizers, some drinks, food, whatever. they sometimes bring stuff for me, sometimes for my husband, but never at the same time. I figure hey, they're probably new. Service shapes up a little bit, but not that great. finally, my husband has to go so I tell him, no problem I'll just stay and pay. well I was waiting for at least 15 minutes, when i had to get up and go to the counter and say, hey could you charge me? I gotta go. so I told them my whole thing with , "I understand you're busy or whatever, but blah blah blah..." they just smiled and nodded.... and fake-apologized bc they left me waited some more. well lemme tell you I was gonna leave 20% even after everything bc it's the holidays and their food is good, but they just played themselves and barely got 15. maybe next time they will value the customers better or at least care that they did a horrible service. maybe I'll give them one more chance but not on a weekend or any time soon if these hacks are working.

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Conveniently located on Hollywood blvd with plenty of free parking. On the weekends there is live music. I went on Saturday evening and it was a little loud so much so that I couldn't have a conversation but it was entertaining. Must try the queso it is amazing. I had the orale chicken enchiladas- rice and beans are delicious and the enchiladas are tasty and filling. Great prices, service is attentive. My friend had the combo meal and so much food!

  • Ashley F.

By far my favorite Authentic Mexican food restaurant. I've ordered a different dinner every time I've gone and I have to say that I am never disappointed. It's also a plus that they have ginormous margaritas starting at $10 =) The Orale sampler is a must for your first time here! Con: You have to ask for napkins each time.

  • Maria L.

I'm giving this place two stars for the drinks. Other then that not a good place. I used to be in love with the carne asada tacos, but I got food poisoning twice from this place. Also once my friend found lint or dust all over her taco bowl. It was gross. Friendly service though. I wish I could have the tacos again, but I'm scared.

Have been going there for over 2 years. Good food, drinks are excellent but horrible service. Waiting time for food is too long

  • Pierre D.

I make the one hour trip to Orale because it's hands down the best Mexican food in the State! Everything is fresh and delicious! The prices are very inexpensive and they are not shy about making a Margarita with a little kick to it,,, love the Mango... The Staff is excellent as well.. You can't miss!

    (5)
  • Jacqueline K.

I loveee the food here! The queso app is delicious and their salsa has the perfect amount of spice. Definitely do the Margarona for your drink- delicious frozen. I didn't put more stars because in the 2 times I've been here the service is a little slow. We've had groups of about 7-8 each time but the restaurant hasn't been packed. Overall great place and I'll be back again

    (3)
  • Kathya D.

Great service and atmosphere! The only reason I didn't give a five star rating was simply the steak nachos were good in taste but lacked great toppings like lettuce, guacamole, etc. My mother got the mole chicken dish, said it reminded her back when she was living in Mexico. Will definitely come back.

    (4)
  • Monica M.

Our family favorite when we want to go somewhere that is local and pretty inexpensive. This has been my 5 year old daughter's favorite restaurant since she was 1. The food is pretty good and inexpensive. Most of the waiters there are good. They have happy hour from 4-7. My favorite thing to order are their flautas.

    (4)
  • Daniel C.

My new favorite Mexican spot!! Had 3 different dishes here and they all have been amazing!! Even the salsa and tortillas are fresh and delicious. Lunch specials are a great bargain. I will eat here AT LEAST once a week. I highly recommend the hot and spicy burrito, enchilada verdes and chimichangas, yummm...but I'm sure everything else on their menu is good too!

    (5)
  • Ashley D.

This place is awesome. Chips and salsa make a delicious appetizer. The food is well cooked and seasoned, a moderate amount for a reasonable price. Also the Flan is wonderful. And the staff is very friendly and helpful as well.

  • Juan R.

Food was Ok, I enjoy Mexican food which means that I have been to many Mexican restaurants, I ordered mixed tacos, 1 steak, 1 chicken and 1 pastor. Steak was good, chicken was a little dry, seemed like it was cooked before and kept warm for a while, the taco al pastor was way too greasy, and it tasted a lot to different herbs, I didn't enjoy this one to much and it's one of my favorites. The one thing that bothered me the most was getting bit 4 times by Mosquitos, I sat inside because I didn't want to deal with the heat and bugs and ended up with a bunch of mosquito bites. Makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like... Unfortunately in downtown Hollywood there's a better spot with real Mexican food (Takitos)... And it's a little pricey too!!!

    (2)
  • R.D. B.

So far this is my favorite mexican restaurant in south Florida . Everything I have ever had has been great with the small exception of the rather bland lengua tacos and the stuffed chilies that were a bit to greasy. Great margaritas! And al pastor .

Look at your check closely. My boyfriend and I ate at Orale last night and we're perplexed as to why they added an 18% gratuity on a two party check. When I asked the waiter, he said " oh I'll take it off,." We like the restaurant but I think they tried to see if we'd notice. So we left the server exactly that, 18%, instead of our normal 20%.

  • David B.

Stopped in for lunch and wasn't very impressed. The tortilla soup was really good, but the rest lacked flavor and freshness. Waitress was really not very attentive either. Much better elsewhere!

  • Alessia L.

First off, this place should change its name to "Oy Vey" because its portions are so huge. Secondly, it was awesome. Did I mention the portions were huge? An extensive (sometimes too busy) menu of great dishes to choose from. An ample children's menu, and friendly service make Orale a very pleasant dining experience. We sat outside (since we have two children who like to act like children) and were promptly greeted by a very friendly waiter who wasted no time in taking our drinks and appetizer order and giving us a generous helping of chips and delicious salsa. We ordered the Chorizo Dip to start, which was not too greasy and not overly spicy so that your face melted off. The tortillas it came with were warm and soft and it was a lovely opening to our meal. For dinner, I had the Burritos Tipicos with beef tips which were tender and delicious. I also had enough food on my plate for an army. The guacamole was delicious (which is my usual litmus test for a Mexican restaurant) and the pico de gallo was fresh. My husband (the crazy person that he is) ordered the Parilla Orale! which is actually a platter FOR TWO and when it came out it looked like a MOUNTAIN of deliciousness. It was, and he ate most of it (that skinny jerk). Our waiter was attentive and polite. Our drinks were never empty for long and our food came out hot and in a timely fashion. Muchas gracias Orale! We will be back!

This place is just blah.... not terrible but not the best...it serves its purpose i guess.... can you guys please make better margaritas! That will earn you another star :-)

  • Lady P.

This is a cute little place with a massive menu, decent service (by real Mexicans!) and solid margaritas. I'd recommend it to anyone, although there were some caveats that prevents it from a 4 star rating and higher. The good news for Orale is that it wouldn't take much work to improve. They give you chips and salsa to start. The salsa is OK, but a little bland. Which seemed to indicate the trend we were to experience here. Next, guacamole. Bland, bland, bland. I wasn't even sure if it was freshly prepared, there was an overly creamy quality to it, like the kind you get in a plastic container in Publix. For entrees, I got the Camarones Diablo (spicy shrimp) and my husband got the Chicken Mole. They are not shy with the portions, including the shrimp. Both came with rice, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and more of that bland guacamole. The shrimp is laden with sauteed onions. The server warned me the shrimp was spicy, but when it arrived, I had to add even MORE hot sauce to it. The mole was one-dimensional...I don't know how else to describe it. At risk of using this word yet again, it was bland. It wasn't bad, mind you...but something about it seemed mass-produced. The food overall was decent. But if they worked on the blandness just a bit, it would be stellar. It's not a far jump, Orale....I bet you guys could do it! You already have a nice little place in a fun neighborhood, so go for it.

Ok Service, but the Chorizo Taco's & Guacamole was bangin' All I can say is that fpt the lack of good service, the food made up for it!

  • Teresa L.

I dont like this place. I dont like the food and I dont like the service. I had an appointment in the area and wanted to grab a salad for luch. There was a sign outside that said taco salad for $8 - Once inside I noticed $4 lunch margaritas - perfect. 1. When I get the salad, it had a minimal amount of lettuce - more like a garnish. When I asked for more lettuce, they said it will cost $1 - OK...they bring the the place where they would serve the "sides" for fajitas, with some lettuce on it ... are you kidding me? 2. When I get the check, they charged me 10.00 for the salad and $6.00 for the margarita. 3. When I asked the to correct the bill, they reduced the price of the salad but not the margarita. They finally got the bill right and even removed the margarita from my bill, but the whole meal still left a bad taste in my mouth. Sorry, Orale..I wont be back.

Good food, great drinks! I come here often and I always get the 3 taco combo (which they allow you to mix and match with different meats, not specified but just ask). And the spicy burrito is good also. We always come for the authenticity and the drinks! The margaronas are BOMB!!! Highly recommended!

  • Laura R.

Shredder chicken quesadillas are the best !! I always enjoy coming here for the delicious food. The only downside about this place is their staff. They never seem prepared, always confused, and unsure about things on the menu. Overall a great place to grab lunch and dinner or even a nice margarita with some friends.

  • Natalie D.

We came here for a birthday dinner. The service was great and the food was delicious! We ordered the quesadilla fajita which was awesome! It was very flavorful and cheesy. The mix of flavor between the chicken, rice, guacamole, vegetables, cheese, and refried beans left us wanting to return. Would definitely come back.

I only come here because my friend likes to eat nachos. Nothing special for fajitas. Decent cold Mexican beer and cheap margaritas.

I have been back here a few times. The food is pretty good for Tex mex in south Florida. The service was great as well. My only complaint was it is pretty much impossible to sit inside because the live music while festive is blasted so loud inside. I suggest an outside table.

  • Frankie A.

Had the Orale combo which comes with the best chile relleno I have ever had! Prices are very decent and their homemade salsa is one of the tastiest I've ever had. Their food is prepared fresh and the mole sauce is ABSOLUTELY delicious. I ordered a Michelada (of course) and it came IN THIS HUGE GLASS. It was very heavy on the lime and tomato juice but super tasty! One thing is the drink menu does not have prices so you will have to ask. The Michelada was $7.50 and worth every penny.

I'm an Arizona girl with a deep love for Mexican food and this was delicious! Reasonably priced, huge plates. I had the enchiladas verde with chicken--a really nice stewed, shredded chicken. Very tasty! We enjoyed.

I ate here and it met all my expectations for food. I reserve the last star because of the almighty $. I just didn't feel like the value was there. It was pricey for my tastes, but I also didn't pay since I was being rewarded for helping a classmate fix his car. I had the flautas. Deliciously done. Well topped w/ fresh ingredients like guac and cubed tomatoes. Filling was good. Flautas were crispy. My friend had the chimichanga and it looked well assembled and tasty but I didn't try his. The salsa for the appetizer chips was really tasty. Perfectly balanced w/ a hint of hot. Take $2-3 off the menu price and I would have given it 5 stars. I just like value either thru freshness and flavors or serving size. Also adding a lot of sides would have driven the value up for me. Some beans and rice w/ some pico de gallo. Something. Even tho I was full after my meal. I'd go back if I were being treated. Not sure if I'd go back on my own dime.

Great treasure on Hollywood Blvd. My husband and I stumbled across Orale a year or so ago while walking down Hollywood Blvd......the place lacked atmosphere and people, but we thought we'd give it a try - what a pleasant surprise! What Orale lacked in atmosphere, it made up in service and food. The prices were reasonable and the servings were large. :) We've now been a handful of times and have introduced our friends to Orale as well. We really enjoy the salsa, chips and shrimp ceviche....yum! The large caronas are great for sharing. We've tried quite a few different entrees from their expansive menu - but our favorite entree (so far) has to be the pork carnitas.

Great Mexican restaurant in downtown Hollywood with some traditional offerings.

  • Priscilla S.

We really wanted to like the place. The service was great and the meal was good BUT the fruit flies, crappy salsa and horrible margaritas (cheap tequila, ugh) will keep us far away from this place. The mariachi singer wasn't half bad, though.

Still our favorite Mexican restaurant. Not your typical taco joint. Real Mexican food.

Delicious fish tacos. Very authentic. Also had a margarita and they didn't skimp on the alcohol! Woo-hoo!!! Will definitely come back. Also enjoyed the chips and salsa. Service was very good, we sat outside. Very nice experience.

MMM, Super yummy, authentic. Had the mole, it was delicious. No complaints, cannot wait to go back!

Agree with the previous reviewer that the food here is "good, solid Mexican." I had the Enchiladas Orale, and my 2 friends had the Enchiladas Verde. Both were $10.95 - a tad bit more than most Mexican restaurants, and both came w/ 1 beef enchilada, 1 chicken, 1 bean and 1 cheese topped with sour cream, tomato, sauce and guacamole. Interesting thing was that the meals come with beans OR rice. Don't most places give you both? My 2 friends had the beans, and all they got were beans. I ordered the rice, and they gave me rice AND beans. Very odd. Anyway, the food was tasty as expected and service was pretty good. It bothered me a little that NOBODY was in the restaurant besides us and some employees, but maybe it was because it was a Tuesday night at 9 pm. The whole downtown area seemed a little dead. I did find out there's a new Kava bar next door, which I will have to check out. I'll probably venture back to Orale if I'm in downtown H-wood and want Mexican.

We walked back and forth on Hollywood Blvd. and when we saw "Authentic Mexican Food" in the window we grabbed a table on the sidewalk out front. Frankly, I thought the service was lousy and the food mediocre but maybe it was just an "off night" for the place. The Mexican fellow singing in the doorway next to the kareoke machine was pretty damn good, though. I nursed a second Dos Equis just so we could sit longer and listen to him.

Where to begin. So It's Friday night and there is a live band. Just too loud for my liking. The service was great, our server was friendly and very prompt. I just didn't like the meal, perhaps that's my fault for ordering it. But shouldn't all the food taste good? I tried a combo of Taco, Enchilada and Tostada. All three were beef. Such a beef overload and so much cheese. I ate the enchilada, took a bite of the taco and tostada and pushed my plate aside. I wanted to try the sangria, but I asked if it was freshly made and they said no. The desserts didn't look appetizing. Overall I won't be back. But at least I tried it.

Why the hate? This place is probably the best mainstream Tex-Mex/Mexican restaurant in Broward County, and by mainstream I mean not just a taqueria/cantina catering to homesick natives. I've been here twice now, both on Saturdays, and I guess I've been lucky to order good food both times: yesterday I had to Burros de la Roqueta, which in their version is pork simmered in beer, then covered with a very zippy salsa (the menu said tomatillo salsa, but what came out was a chipotle-based enchilada sauce, still very good), and their cheese sauce. The first time I went, I had the carnitas which were very tasty. Their flour tortillas are great, I don't think they make them on-site, but they're certainly not the flat, round wonder bread ones you get at most places. My friend ordered the Porky Enchiladas, primarily because pork is the key to a happy life, and the name adequately describes it. Slow-cooked pork in a tasty salsa. The complimentary chips can either be fresh or stale, just speak up and they'll bring fresh ones, their house salsa is delicious. Yes, the margaritas don't have prices on them, but they're $6-$8 for the small, and they have larger sizes. The cantarito is a nice change: pineapple and mango in addition to the lime juice. Service can be iffy: the first time, we had a very attentive (but not overbearing) and dashingly handsome Norteño as our waiter. The last time, we thought our server had left after taking our orders. Water glasses and other drinks sat empty, someone else brought out our food, but then he reappeared. Saturdays they have had live music outside, which also means it gets pretty noisy inside. I don't think it's the same person each time. A few patrons seemed irritated by it, but it's Hollywood, that's what Saturday nights are like. This was basically a glorified karaoke setup, but the guy had a good voice and covered a lot of great Mexican classics (his second was Javier Solís's "Sombras, nada mas," which I think is right up there with anything on Sinatra's Only The Lonely. When we left, he was entertaining the outside diners with Pedro Infante's "Yo no fui," something it's impossible to be unhappy listening to.

I will start with saying the Fajita platters are HUGE, and the seasoning is great. They use a well seasoned flat top to cook on, and you can tell. We tried this place cause it was right down town, and thats always a selling point for me. The servers are always really nice, the music is always mexican, though sometimes kind of loud. Last time I was there I tried the quesadilla. Its was.... meh. A LOT of cheese, and it was really small! Maybe Im just used to huge american portions, but for $10, I was expecting more. This place isnt bad. Its cute inside with bright colors, and the foods ok. I dont know how late they are open, but it would be a great late night joint.

Service was not that great and there were only a handful of people in the place. Took forever to get a drink. Margarita's were ok. Salsa was wonderful but with slow service to refresh the drinks made it hard to gobble it up. We got the fajita's, the meat was pretty bland no real seasoning or flavor. Didn't love it... salsa is not worth a return trip.

  • Liza S.

Loved it! Salsa was excellent (most important indicator of a good Mexican place). Portions were huge and delicious. Rice and refried beans - amazing. But the absolute best: the crushed passion fruit margarita -- be prepared to be thinking about it the next day. :)

I was a bit dissapointed in this place. We drove a bit out of our way to get our Mexican fix. Should have just gone to Lime. First complaint; the drink menu, (Which I had to ask for) had no prices. I HATE that! I ordered a $6.00 Sangria, and was very dissapointed to find it was not home made. They didnt even bother putting fruit in it. It was just straight out of a bottle. The salsa was homemade, and very tasty. We asked to try their salsa piqueno, hoping for a great homemade spicy habanero or jalapeno hot sauce. The sauce they brought us was unfortunately tomatillo based, and tasted like pickles. It was sour and not even spicy. Very dissapointing. The fajita platter was also dissapointing. The meat was nicely flavored, but it was very fatty. My boyfriend is very particular about stringy fatty chunks in his meat, and was unable to eat about a quarter of the pieces of beef provided because they had fat chunks and tendons still attatched. Very little came with the fajitas. No cheese, less than a tablespoon of sour cream or guacamole. All he really had was lettuce and some rice and beans. My Chimichangas came drenched in a sauce that made them soggy within minutes of getting to the table. I would order them again because the flavors were great and the plate was nice and hot, but I would order them without the sauce. After five minutes I'd eaten all the crunchy end parts and all that was left was a soggy mess of steak and breading. Our waiter was attentive, but he kept removing things from the table to refill them. Personal pet peeve. If you see I have ten chips left, leave me those chips and bring a new basket so I'm not sitting without ANY chips for five minutes. Same thing with my coke. Don't take my drink away while I'm eating. Bring me a new one and THEN swap it out.

food was pretty good. not the best mexican i've had but pretty good. i had the chicken soft tacos with rice and toppings, chicken could have been a little more seasoned. pico de gallo was not the best and they didnt even give a dollop of sour cream, very cheap with it and thats my favorite topping. it was good but not great. my boyfriend said he liked his chicken quesedilla.

Horrible food, horrible service. Mexican food is my favorite, growing up in southern California, I am use to what authentic, good Mexican food tastes like. So I was in the area one afternoon and decided to try Oralé. When I got there, the waitress brought chips and salsa, which were ok. I ordered cheese enchiladas and the waitress informed me that I would be charged extra to have cheese enchiladas. The waitress was unable to explain the type of cheese being used in the enchiladas, describing it as "mexican cheese." I got my enchiladas and sent it back after taking one bite. The staff offered to replace the meal with something else but being a vegetarian, there wasn't really anything else on the menu for me to eat. The cheese they used tasted horrible to me. The staff took a while and charged me for the meal, of which I only had one bite. When i inquired as to why the meal wasn't comped, the server told me that they would have to pay for the meal since I ordered it and because I did not replace it with something else I was being charged as if I ate the meal. Horrible customer service in my opinion and I won't be returning.

The food is delicious especially the lingua tacos very tasty!!!!! The staff is very friendly and kind me & my wife come here all the time in the food service is always consistent And when I get my bill at the end of the meal I'm not getting ripped off I will recommend this place anybody as it's not easy to find good restaurants in Hollywood.

Before we arrived there I was a bit worried about only 3.5 stars, but since it was late and we just wanted to be over and done with dinner, we decided to go for it. As we arrived, service was a bit confusing. But after we seated outside and our waiter brought our menus, everything that followed was great! The chips were warm, the salsa spicy, and the beer cold. We ate the Hot & Spicy and de La Roqueta burritos. They were both very tasty and spicy, just the way we like. Our waiter was very attentive, but it helped that we speak Spanish, so be aware of that. Overall we had a great meal, way above what we expected.

Craving Mexican food, the boyfriend and I ventured to downtown Hollywood and checked out Orale. We were greeted quickly, chips and salsa were brought out within moments, and servers were always available to take our orders or answer any request. On to the food! We started with a pitcher of margaritas, which at $20ish, I thought was very reasonable. For our appetizer, we had the chorizo dip: this was thick, strong, and cheesy with the perfect amount of tasty chorizo--very good! For my main, I had the shrimp cocktail, which the server assured me was "very delicious". Although good, the shrimp seemed a bit overcooked and the shrimp cocktail wasn't too loaded with ingredients as I would normally expect. The flavor was alright, but I would probably not order this again. The only qualm I have about this place is the performer who was singing throughout our meal--she kept coming to our table to sing to us, and the volume of the performance, along with the TVs against the wall, and the Saturday night crowd, made it very distracting to have an enjoyable meal. Otherwise, I'd happily return for some good, authentic Mexican food!

This place was nothing special. I came with 2 friends for lunch craving guacamole. The quality of food here is pretty poor. The salsa was not spicy and tasted watered down. The guacamole is not made fresh and they give you a small portion for the price they charge. None of the portions of food were big, so we were thankful for the refills of chips they gave us. I was surprised when we got the bill. It was about $70, not including tip, and we all had waters. Upon closer inspection, they charged us for extra sour cream and guacamole for every dish. The service here was also not the best. We had to ask numerous times for more water. The food in general was just ok, I've experienced better.

Very large menu, but just another standard Mexican restaurant. One thing I definitely don't like...there's no bar to sit at! I'm not really a table type so they lost serious points for me there, also makes me feel like a lot of their drinks would then be pre made and just made by anyone in the restaurant. I ordered the pollo orale, the shrimp was perfect but the dish lacked flavor as did the guacamole. The salsa was very fresh. Easy place to go to, but not at the top of my revisit list. Cheap and easy.

I went on a Saturday for lunch and there were only 3 tables with people. They have a large variety of food on the menu. I chose the combo platter to have a variety. The burrito and enchilada were filled with ground beef with a seasoning/sauce on it and topped with white cheese and red sauce. The chili relleno had a slab of cheese in the middle and the pepper was breaded and deep fried. The tostada was topped with refried beans and iceberg lettuce and tomatoes. The taco was filled with ground beef and white shredded cheese and lettuce. The taco shell was similar to what you buy at the grocery store...same with the chips. The salsa was fresh with a slight spiciness. The refried beans were my favorite part of the meal. I would not return when there are so many other better Mexican places to visit. Parking is free along the street.

I chose to give a three star because its a little old and run down but should have a four star. Also the molcajete 2 person meal is a little white lie due to the fact thay they served the bottom with mostly onions. Its was all delish but next time ill say no veggies please!

I'm giving this place a "5" because it's an unpretentious Mexican joint that doesn't infuse anything or try to be "up and coming". With the closing of the institution of "Cancun" down the street, Hollywood was searching for an off the cuff, yet mainstream Mexicana place, and Orale it is. The chips and salsa come fast, along with a margarita, Corona or Tecate. It's my preferable way to start my meal. The complimentary salsa has a bit of zest, which I welcome. No ketchup and onions here. The menu is expansive, but not to the point that you want to close your eyes and just pick something. They have various versions of burritos, tacos and traditional Mexican entreees, like smothered shrimp or chicken. My first excursion, my husband and I ordered the fajitas for two. I know that's playing it safe for a Mexican joint, but now we're hooked! It came with shrimp, beef, pork and all the side items a fajita should come with (lettuce, cheese etc). Now, I know my way around your typical fajita, but this is absolutely a step above. The seasoning and flavors put any Chiles or Fridays to shame. It was so delicious, we ate two more fajitas than we probaby should have. Some may say it's a tad "greasy". The grease? It was delicious and oozed of flavor, and I may or may not have licke a little off my finger. Yes, it's that good. After all that Mexican deliciousness, who has room for dessert? Oh, that would be my husband. I was ready to hit the road, but he insistedon trying the Churros. I hesitantly agreed, wondering what could be so wonderful about these churros that I couldn't find at a local street fair. Okay. Honestly. I'm not even a dessert person, but these churros were like heaven on a caramel-sprinkled plate. I wanted to take a hundred home just to remind me of what deliciousness tasted like. On my second visit, I had the buttitos with salsa verde. There were chicken, ground beef, vegetable and pork burritos. Who can argue with that? They came with a delicious side of refried beans and cheese, like any respectable Americanized Mexican dish should. The sauce was tangy and perfect, just as if I'd made it at home. Two bites into each made me full, but satisfied and happy. Like my margarita. There are plenty of impostors when it comes to the Mexican game, but I do believe Oral is the real deal. I highly recommend checking out this friendly and reasonably priced cantina for some solid Mexican chow. UPDATE: Get the enchiladas verde!!

My husband and I love this place. The food is very authentic. Great tacos, fresh ingredients and very good service. Don't expect tons of sour cream, cheese and salsa. This is not a Tex mex joint. Will keep you coming back for more!

The food here is absolutely fantastic. I don't care what anyone says. They have definitely put a lot of effort into getting their Mexican food right. The Pollo Norteno is awesome. Best Mexican in Hollywood and potentially best in Florida. Yes, it's that good. I had quesadillas fajita and my wife had a combo plate with an enchilada and a taco. The quesadilla had mexican cheese and American white cheddar queso, plenty of skirt steak in a grilled tortilla. Delicious! My wife and kids enjoyed her plates as well. Great authentic food served hot from an inventive menu with attentive service. Got cheesecake empenada for dessert - yummy! We'll go back!

Had the Burritos Tipicos, which were two Steak burritos in a nice enchilada sauce, with lettuce, tomato, onions and Guacamole on top. My wife had the Steak tacos. The Burritos were quite tasty, but my wife's tacos were a little on the dry side. Chips and Salsa were good as was the Guacamole. The portions are generous. The service was good, staff was attentive, decor was nice. The have a full bar and a good selection of your typical Mexican beers. Although I must add that the Iced Tea was actually really good. (odd thing to say about a Mexican Restaurant??) The place is a little on the pricey side, but if you are in the area and are in the mood for some good Mexican food, look for Orale. Downtown Hollywood really has a great selection of non-chain and small-chain restaurants, and I think it is very important that we support them. There is always plenty of parking in the area (street meters are $1.00 an hour, of if you don't mind walking a block or so, the public parking garages give you the first 2 hours free).

I am Mexican and this place is great. If you don't like the salsa ask for a different kind. They have habanero which WILL make you sweat but is tasty. There taquitos and guacamole are good. The tacos carne asada are very good. Service is good. This is the best Mexican restaurant in Hollywood next to cancun Mexican grill that moved. To the previous post: we will excuse your ignorance. I'm a local and haves lived on the beach for 20yrs. This good Mexican,

My fiance and I just ate here and its been a long time since I've had a bad meal in Hollywood but this place took the taco. I had Mole de Pollo and it was not mole, I do not care what the menu said. I have eaten well over twenty different types of molesand this was like hot fudge sauce with black pepper in it. And the chicken was so dried out I thought I was going to chip a tooth. My fiance had the Chilliquiles and it was edible, thats about as good as I am willing to say. Again I have had good Chilliquiles and this was tortilla chips soaked in canned enchilada sauce and topped with barely cooked green and red peppers and the same petrified chicken as in my "mole". I can honestly say I will never set foot in this establishment again. Next time I want mexican I will go down the street to Cancun Cantina.

Overpriced for what you get. Tourist trap for sure! I guess if you're out on the Hollywood Strip and drunk, this place would be convenient to eat at. But if you are craving Mexican and want to have a nice lunch or dinner, there are places that are SO much better.

I stumbled on this restaurant by accident and fell in love with it. Lots of places say they have authentic Mexican food but few do. Orale really does. The fish tacos were the best I've ever had and full of fish. No small portions here. We finished up with beef Chimicangas that were superb. Excellent food, inexpensive, and great service. Met the manager, Juan, and he genuinely cared about our experience. I can't recommend Orale enough. I like Cancun but I like this place even better.

My experience at Orale is limited. A friend and I visited this restaurant for a weekday happy hour for the two for one drinks and a plate of nachos. The margaritas (on the rocks) were decent and well priced during happy hour. A generous portion of nachos arrived and my friend liked them as they reminded her of when her father would make milk soup. It appears that milk soup is an eastern European dish consisting simply of milk, butter and noodles. The nachos were covered with what appeared to be a bechamel sauce that had dreams and aspirations of being a mornay. Personally, I prefer a bit of heat and cheese in my nachos.

I love this restaurant. My favorite dish is the shrimp sincronzada (not sure of the spelling). It is like a quesadiia with shrimp, grilled onions, grilled peppers and melted Mexican cheese. The fajitas are really good too. The prices are very reasonable and the service in great!!

I make the one hour trip to Orale because it's hands down the best Mexican food in the State! Everything is fresh and delicious! The prices are very inexpensive and they are not shy about making a Margarita with a little kick to it,,, love the Mango... The Staff is excellent as well.. You can't miss!

  • Ikam A.

  • Tess E.

Great service and atmosphere! The only reason I didn't give a five star rating was simply the steak nachos were good in taste but lacked great toppings like lettuce, guacamole, etc. My mother got the mole chicken dish, said it reminded her back when she was living in Mexico. Will definitely come back.

This place is awesome. Chips and salsa make a delicious appetizer. The food is well cooked and seasoned, a moderate amount for a reasonable price. Also the Flan is wonderful. And the staff is very friendly and helpful as well.

Stopped in for lunch and wasn't very impressed. The tortilla soup was really good, but the rest lacked flavor and freshness. Waitress was really not very attentive either. Much better elsewhere!

Shredder chicken quesadillas are the best !! I always enjoy coming here for the delicious food. The only downside about this place is their staff. They never seem prepared, always confused, and unsure about things on the menu. Overall a great place to grab lunch and dinner or even a nice margarita with some friends.

I have been back here a few times. The food is pretty good for Tex mex in south Florida. The service was great as well. My only complaint was it is pretty much impossible to sit inside because the live music while festive is blasted so loud inside. I suggest an outside table.

We really wanted to like the place. The service was great and the meal was good BUT the fruit flies, crappy salsa and horrible margaritas (cheap tequila, ugh) will keep us far away from this place. The mariachi singer wasn't half bad, though.

  • Brandy M.

The food here is absolutely fantastic. I don't care what anyone says. They have definitely put a lot of effort into getting their Mexican food right. The Pollo Norteno is awesome.

Great prices and the closest thing to authentic Mexican food that I have had since I moved to Florida. I've never ordered anything there that wasn't delicious.

Good Mexican food and drink specials. The portions are sizable and will fill you up. Service drops a star.

Bravo! We packed an outdoor table with adults and small kids - authentic tasting Mexican dishes at very LOW prices! Music adds a nice touch and the service was excellent. Our waiter and hostess Yeri were fabulous. Will be back!

I chose to give a three star because its a little old and run down but should have a four star. Also the molcajete 2 person meal is a little white lie due to the fact thay they served the bottom with mostly onions. Its was all delish but next time ill say no veggies please!

Best Mexican in Hollywood! Huge plates so if you're not a huge eater, order a margarita, chips and salsa and split an entree. Plenty big for two. :) chorizo cheese dip is out of this world.

This is your typical Mexican restaurant. The chips and salsa were great, but the guacamole had a funky flavor and I would not recommend ordering it. I ordered the mixed fajitas and they were tasty. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely.

Great tacos! Delicious refried beans and fresh salsa. Get the Chorizo dip, you won't regret it! One of the few places that makes excellent mojitos! Our service was also top notch and the prices are fair! We will come here again.

Yuk! There was a roach crawling up the wall at my booth. The waiter grabbed it with a napkin and said sorry. Then asked if I was done with my meal. Duh! I'll never go back. So disappointed.

Great gem!

I love this place. Service is great. Maragarita's are delic and they have a great special 3 to 7 on the margaritas. Usually order the dinner combo for 2. Guacamole is delicious. Can't beat the food for a great price.

Olé!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
