I was being a jerk and yelled "TIM MCGRAW" to their live band that was playing Tool (a little too loud) on some random Friday out with friends. To my dismay and surprise, they obliged. I laughed maniacally and blushed to a beet-like hue. I tipped them five dollars. I then dined on tragic curry fries and drank a couple Floridians (a coup from the new and hip Funky Buddha Brewery that just opened last month in Oakland Park). We'll be back another time. Maybe it was an off day.

I frequent this place when grabbing drinks downtown. Its a nice Irish Pub with a few outdoor hightops right on the blvd. Its a different scene from the other bars around downtown, which is nice. The bartenders are legit and know their beers.

Best in downtown Hollywood for Happy Hour! Food & Service Great. After 1st visit you are never a stranger here. Great sports bar too! Highly recommend the appetizers.. my favorite is the Mickey Burger or the Bangers and Mash (or fries). The Pannini's are awesome tooo. Ask for a slice of avocado... makes it yummy... Can either be background music or if there's a big game on they'll plug the volume in for that... and still show other sports simultaneously... what ever you want to see... they are very accommadating... take it from this lonley NASCAR fan.

Went for HH last night (6/19) and the draft beer was cold...service was great (bartender) and the atmosphere was what it's suppose to be...Irish like! Especially coming from someone who is Irish and grew up in an Irish bar. Loved this place!

Love this place! Hollywood needed it! Always a good time at Mickey's, great crowd, and authentic Irish owners! Try Flynn's Shepherd's Pie, it is fresh, moist, and packed with lots of good stuff, and I would expect no less! Their salads are good as well, and they usually have a daily special or two worth a look. Always a good time at Mickeys!

Perfect hangout for great pub food and quality, affordable beer. Came here on a double date for dinner and some drinks. They have the usual tap (Guinness, of course) but also had a local beer on tap from Due South in Boynton (the caramel one---best I've had in a while!). They also had great shots---go for the Irish godfather (amaretto and Jameson)! We thoroughly enjoyed the fish and chips as well as the bangers and mash. If you're undecided between the two, go for the bangers as the gravy alone will make you swoon. There was a live band playing hits from the '90s for a bit. Can't wait to visit again!

I had dinner on Hollywood Blvd. on a Friday night with a few friends, 1 of whom I hadn't seen in 9 years. After dinner we wanted to go somewhere to grab a few more drinks and continue catching up. Luckily we spotted Mickey Brynes. We went in, bellied up to the bar and ordered a few drinks. Shortly after we arrived a top 40 cover band started playing, so it did get a bit loud when we were trying to carry on a conversation, but it was a fun atmosphere and the place quickly filled up with patrons. While they did have a good selection of draft beers, when it came to cider they only had Magners in bottles, but not on tap. In all a fun place that I'd probably visit often if I lived around here.

A very cool pub located right in the middle of hookah bars, spanish clubs and pizza joints. Arrived on a weekend at night and they had a live band who was pretty good covering rock songs. They also had 5 for $15.00 specials on imported beer....are you kidding me? It was great! You can play some pool and throw darts while catching ESPN highlights on the flatscreens. The bartenders were friendly and the whole ambiance is lively. Definitely coming out here again when I want good beers at a great price!

Great burgers and atmosphere but not too many beer selections Waitress was rude when asked if they have any other beers (gave me like 6 options) No clue on what a pilsner or a lager is

Great little place , fun bartenders excellent selection of beers . I'm not a liquor drinker but great tasting beers are up my alley and Nathan the bartender is always a breath of fresh air to be around with makes this place 5 stars rate able

Food is okay and staff is okay. A pretty average place. Dark inside so I prefer going here at night. One large TV projector for the entire bar.

Every now and again I find a good pub and I really like this one. We went on a recent Saturday night for the first time. They have several TVs playing various sports, a loud band that played every rock song I adored as a kid, and surprisingly decent food! Beer prices were also decent. The place began to fill up as the night went on. I had plans so did not stick around, but I would definitely head back for more food and another round.

Margo was awesome I was a little hurt after my second budlight bottle I over heard her asking a guy if he wanted the bucket deal maybe she saw my dissapointed and said she would void the two she rang up to make a bucket and leave me three in the fridge so I fell in love Duh but to be fair she wasn't the one who caters to me first had she I belive she would've told me the specials -my bartender name was Margo( I'm already in love) the scotch egg was good -did the food take a minute -perhaps but we didn't care plus being in the biz I know -not to mention there a Browns bar so they were packed so in totaly ok with the wait If your starving just don't come on a Browns game -back to Margo cute professional A game told me a bit bout her boss her Ireland trip I wish she worked for falcon that's how awesome she is

I definitely had a good time here but there were several things that, if done correctly next time, could be a 5 star experience. The food here is great and the beer selection is awesome! However I should note that the "happy hour" beer prices are very off-putting...2-3$ off any draft...but my beer cost $6, so that means I would have originally ordered an $8 beer? I could buy a 6 pack with that! Also, the appetizer took about a half an hour to get, and once we were done it, food came out. I'm fairly certain the app didn't take too long to make since it's mozzarella and bread. The meals were good and we were satisfied however it was deceptively pricey and long to wait for (only about 2-3 other couples in the restaurant at the time, 5-7p Tuesday).

I'm always here at least three times a week. The bartenders are the best and they remember your order after a few visits. The shepherds pie is awesome and the bangers and mash is always a go to. The wings are great and so are the soups that they serve. The drinks are always made properly. I either get different craft beers (which they have a lot of) or I get a mixed drink like a captain and coke. As a local in the area I am very aware of the other bars and restaurants in the area and this is definitely one of regular spots. I have met the owners and they are equally as a awesome. I have read previous reviews and some of them I find very hard to believe. If your in the area of even if you want to take a little trip definitely check it out. IRISH BARS ALWAYS HAVE DIM LIGHTS!!! As least the good ones too :)

Nice Irish bar on the strip, service was great Karen did a great job. Irish breakfast was awsome. Place could do with better lighting over the dinning booth good job we have cell phones as menu was hard to read. Touch tunes jukebox so I had to Rick roll the joint be for leaving. Will go again......

The bar where everyone knows your name. Perfect location downtown Hollywood. Food is okay. Drinks are priced at the same level as local competition. Happy Hour is decent 4-7. Really the place is perfect on Friday and Saturday nights. Live bands, good drinks, and the bartenders are all cool peeps.

Why have I never stopped in here before? I dunno?? The service is great and the food is good and served until 3 am and the bar doesn't close until 4, such a deal as they say in New York. We trotted from the Thai/Jappanese joint opposite to have a sweet because the THAI/jAPPANESE JOINT SAID, "NO NO NO, we are closed." after we had finished a four course meal. Mickey Byrne gave us a nice Irish Coffee and a wonderful server who couldn't have been more charming. I go for charm in a pub in a big way and Mickey's has it in spades. We were so delighted that we stayed on their sidewalk cafe for several more and had we not eaten would certainly have tasted there wares. Speaking of which; they serve a Late Nite Menu until 3 am (I said that already); I will, for sure be back to redeem my Yelp check-in special again.

Not much to report yet following my first visit other than my initial observations, which are as follows ... First, I like that there is free parking in and around this section of Hollywood. I presume that'll change once this place attracts a larger base of patrons roaming up the and down the blvd. Second, I couldn't help but compare and contrast this blvd to similar ones (East Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale, Clematis in downtown West Palm Beach, Lake Avenue in Lake Worth and, of course, Atlantic Avenue in Delray). I would consider this one to be a work in progress by all appearances. It is older and has a lot character, but feels a little worn down and in need of a makeover. Third, the inside of Mickey Byrne's is very dark, even in the daytime. Four, you'll get more than your fair share of soccer on the TV's. Five, they have a fairly impressive selection of tap beers. Six, they have an outdoor cafe portion, which is a more preferable place to set up camp, particularly during daylight hours. Looking forward to returning with more to report both on the food and atmosphere. This time, I had a couple of beers and an order of moz sticks/marinara on a quiet and uneventful Saturday afternoon.

Great local pub. Food has a homemade not-so-Sysco feel to it. Good beer selection on/off, and the standard Hollywood happy hour deal. Nate and Doris will keep you laughing and your glass full. It's owned by a couple of Micks, so you won't miss a Premier or Champion League game. Only complaint: what's up with those dividers on the bar? Are the women meant to sit in the back like they did in the old days?

Tonight was my second time there. The first time I had the Corned Beef and Cabbage, boy was it good. Tonight, I was going to try something different but when I ordered, all that would come out of my mouth was 'Corned Beef and Cabbage'. It was arguably the best Corned Beef and Cabbage that I have ever had.

My wife and I are slowly but surely working on crossing off our list of downtown Hollywood restaurants to try. We finally made it to Mickey Byrne's a couple nights ago and our expectations were surpassed. I love little Irish hole in the wall type places with good beer, a chill atmosphere, tasty pub food, and live music. Mickey's has a checkmark next to all of those and then some. We walked in and there were two musicians playing acoustic covers, very cool. No hostess so we seated ourselves in a booth toward the back with a clear view of the beer menu. The ambiance is a bit dark but I had no problems reading or checking out the place. A fantastically cheerful server promptly tended to us - I wish I could remember her name because she was awesome. My wife, Lauren, is just starting to get into IPAs, so she ordered a Lagunitas and I couldn't help but have a Guinness. Beers were out in no time. Lauren was psyched about the fried pickles (in what appeared to be a beer batter, yum!) and also ordered the fish and chips, which was on special. I was torn between the corned beef and cabbage and the shepherd's pie and ultimately chose the latter. The food came out nice and hot, my shepherd's pie was very tasty - tons of beef and gravy and easily an inch and a half of creamy mashed potatoes! I would definitely get it again. Lauren's fish was crisp but not too greasy, a decent sized filet. For the amount and quality of food, the price is excellent. The beers were $6 each, which isn't breaking the bank on a Saturday night. Overall, we are sure to return with some friends next time. Very cool little place.

Went in for bet the boss Monday's where you order a shot and bet the boss to see if you win a free shot in a coin toss. Well, despite it being on their website, the waitress not know what we were talking about. after we showed her the website, she texted her boss and said he told her not to honor it. Pretty outrageous considering it was on the site and a reason we stopped there. Other than that the staff was pretty great.

I don't typically care for pub food, but enjoyed a nice fresh salad here. The lure of pubs are more about the atmosphere and drinks anyway. Well, this is a great place to watch a major sports competition. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I'm here on the 4th of July and 1 particular waitress would rather be elsewhere. "Her" service was poor, but as my neighbor at the table over said, "Let it reflect in the tip. I've come to expect poor customer service in South Florida." Really??? It's a shame that individuals can represent the face of an overall establishment and can determine whether a person will spend their money there or not.

  • Danielle S.

I would have given it 5 stars but there's barely any people ever there ...I always have a great time and the bartenders are awesome.... However the reason I have a great time is usually because of the people I bring with me. If u are looking to meet new people or engage in conversations this may not be the place.

Its fun. It lives up to its name. They do the games and Kareoke and all. Gary is a great bartender. Class act! Irish pub, not sports bar

My husband and I decided we would try this place out. He wanted some corned beef and cabbage. Sat down and we ordered the scotch eggs for appetizer. Was about to order the corned beef and cabbage but they were out of it. So my husband ordered the shepards pie instead. I ordered the "fresh catch of the day" fish n homemade french fries. The scotch egg (not eggs)was pretty good. We got our order, I noticed it was one little piece of fish and fries. I took a little piece off to try and the fish was super watery. I turned the flashlight on my phone to look at the fish. I squeezed the fish and water came out. It was frozen fish..not fresh and the fries were frozen as well and soooooo greasy. I let the waitress know and she apologized and immediately offered to get me something else but I didn't want anything at that point. We got the check and the manager gave me 15% off my check. I obviously was pissed and told the waitress i wanted to speak with the manager. He finally came over and was trying to argue with me about the meal and that the fries were fresh and I should have called the waitress over and told her right away. Which is what i did. I told him i would not pay for something i didn't eat and that it was crap. He just wanted to keep arguing with me... He finally took the check back and removed my order and my husbands and just charged me for the iced tea. I did tip the waitress. It wasn't her fault. The place was pretty cool but the manager needs to take a class in how to talk to the patrons. Instead of argue with them over frozen food.

Been here twice now. First time it was packed on a Friday (Almost 8) and they seemed to be understaffed. The service was SO slow, we had to ask multiple people to help us with drinks. And they were out of 4 of the 8 scotches they has listed. Annoying.. The second time we came it was earlier (around 7:20) on Saturday and it was just fine. Had a some mixed drinks and the nachos. The nachos we so amazing! I have heard the rest of their food is very good! I will be back. Only reason I have 4 stars is they need to fix the drink menus every night because they run out of stuff.

I have been going to Mickey Byrnes for years! If you like dark Irish bars, this is the place for you. They have a 2-4-1 happy hour during the week and the food is on point. My favs are the paninis and believe it or not the Penne ala Vodka. You may be thinking that an Irish pub can't really make a great pasta but you're mistaken!!! As a Penne ala Vodka fan, this is my #1 place to get it in South Florida. They also make fresh soup daily. My favorite bartender is "Nate". He is the quintessential bartender! He is personable, friendly, attentive, you name it! Tell him Nicole sent you :-)

Pub: "A public house, informally known as a pub and sometimes referred to as the "local", is a drinking establishment..." If you know and like pubs- Mickey Byrne's is an authentic one. Good beers on tap and bottle. Decent burger. Flat screens. Shot glasses filled to the rim with Jameson's (not watered-down kamakazes.) Eclectic crowd - who appreciates pubs. A Hollywood pub-crawl must-do.

  • Paul L.

This bar was a nice place to visit, the pub is very nice inside and they have great selections of aged whiskey's and scotch which in my opinion define a good irish pub. The employees though is why this is getting 5 stars, they were awesome, comical, and very prompt. I will be making this a mandatory stop whenever I am in downtown Hollywood.

I come here whenever I'm in downtown Hollywood. I don't eat here very much but they have a large variety of craft beers which is awesome. You can play giant Jenga and darts, sit back relax and have a cold one.

I go there after work to watch soccer games and drink a few pints with friends. I do not recommend the fish and chips. I was disappointed. They use a fish called Basa(a catfish native to the Mekong river). I want center cut cod for 15.95. I'll try the Shepard's pie or burger next time.

Staff is awesome, food is pretty solid. Irish breakfast knocks it out of the park and can't go wrong with the French dip sandwich or the lobster mac. Great beer selection. Always good about accommodating sports to your liking. Definitely recommend it. I'm originally from up north so I really dig the real Irish pub feel.

My dear Hollywood, you have some very cool spots to hang out. Saturday late afternoon we came here for a fundraising event that our dear friend Tom W. was an attendee to get his head and beard shaved to help raise funds for children with Cancer. What a great cause, when we arrived there was a couple of tents outside with a stage where they had staff from Paul Mitchell shaving what was almost an entire football team. The turnout was fantastic, very crowded. The ladies who did the announcing on stage were wonderful. Several Cancer survivors also spoke about their story's. Oh yes tears were starting. Mickey Byrne's did a great job handling the crowd. Our server who continued checking on us took excellent care of us. Good beer selection, reasonbale prices and a very friendly staff. Looking forward to hanging out at this place again. Chill, reasonable prices, the food looked pretty darn good as well. Great job to the entire staff! And our dear friend Tom, thank you for raising such funds and bringing awareness and hope for so many. Love ya dude!

I'm a sucker for dive bars especially of the Irish variety and this place rings my bells in all the right ways. An Irish bar in Hollywood may sound a little incongruous but it works. I hope your smartphone has a flashlight app because you'll need it. I was sitting at the bar and it was so dark I could just barley read the menu. Speaking of menus, try the Baby Banger Bites for $7.95 as an appetizer. They come with a spicy mustard mayo and are very very good. Follow that with Flynn's Shepherd's Pie for $10.95 and you'll have a delicious and filling Irish meal. Of course you'll need a beer and there are plenty of choices. I'm a sucker for local brews so I enjoyed a Swamp Ape or two or three. When I visited Mark, the owner/bartender, was an excellent conversationalist and really enhanced my visit: so much so that I returned to enjoy myself again. For me this was a four star place

    (4)
  • Lauren B.

Nice Irish Pub in downtown Hollywood. Pretty nice beer selection and live music made for a fun Friday night. I must say though that I can tell I'm getting old because in spite of enjoying things like a live band I found it difficult to talk and hang out with my friends. Just the same I'll gladly return, even if I can't talk to the people around me.

I've been to a lot of pubs in my days and they're not typically rated very high when it come to their food but this place is different. They had all the Irish favorites that you would expect (Shepard's pie, corn beef and cabbage, Rubens, etc.) But once in a while they will have some very creative specials. They have blown me away on 2 different occasions, one night I had what they called a "Jamaican'me Crazy" (jerked beef) burger and on another night a Guava and Cheese burger. Phenominal! I met the chef raymond after the kitchen closed on my last night there and he was great! I encourage you guys to be adventurous and let him make you something if he's cooking. You won't be disappointed!

  • Chris F.

I went there last week with a couple friends. The bartender was a real jerk. He kept giving us our beers half filled when we ordered. It was really frustrating and it looked like he was joking around. Whenever we said something, he and his friend would laugh and say it was filled. Then his friend ended up picking a fight with me. He made some comments about me being white (he was black) and that I was a racist! I swear I never said a word to him. I asked to speak to the manager and the bartender (skinny guy) says "I am the manager." Whatever, there are other places to go, stay away from this low life hole in the ground. Reminds me of a bunch of 80's tough guys listening to too much Billy Idol

    (1)
  • Arthur G.

A little bustier than a few of it's neighbor bars, but for good reason. This place has a good vibe and live music at times. drink selection is alright, if you just want an Irish pub in the area. This is the right place to go.

I was here on Friday and Saturday, since this was the home bar for the American Outlaws (supporters for the US Men's National Team). The long islands made by the blonde male bartender were delicious ($7.50 each, not bad), and Lauren was an excellent waitress with great service (came by every 15 minutes). In addition, the food was surprisingly tasty, especially given the fact you're at a pub. The penne pasta (maybe $12?) had an outstanding, delicious vodka sauce that had everyone at the table dipping their fingers and licking the bowl. I had to order garlic bread just so I could soak up more of the sauce! The next day we ordered chili cheese fries where the fries were not too soggy, but not too crispy, not too spicy, lots of cheese, and just right. I tried a friend's shepherd's pie and would probably stick to Stag's Head Pub's cottage pie in Houston; I just happened to get lucky with the pasta (definitely a must-try). I see there have been some past reviews regarding prices, but frankly, the prices were comparable to what I would pay in Houston for a good restaurant meal and long island iced teas. At the time of my visit, if you checked in on foursquare, you got a free shot of whiskey; that's worth something, right? I was told the whiskey was pretty good too (always gave it to the guys taking care of me). This is definitely a great place in my book, and I'd love to visit again. If you are staying the weekend here, stay at the Ramada, which practically has an entrance across the street - an easy stumble to the hotel!

Clientele: Neighborhood Popular drinks: Guinness Bar Talk: Is that 10 year old having a B-Day party in here?? no, I'm being serious. Wow, I had horrible childhood friends (#neednewfriends). (Found out later the balloons were for an private evening engagement party - damn you balloons.) This is a nice little 2 year old Irish Bar in the the Historic Downtown Hollywood area. When you walk in you are greeted by a Long bar counter stretching up the entire eastern side of the place. Tables, high tops and few booths fill the rest. Darkened, layered w/ mahogany (I like). Walked in here to catch the end of a college fb game. Was greeted by a guy with probably the Sickest Irish Accent ever. I couldn't follow most of the stuff he said,. but that only made me like the place even more and hate the English (f-ing fairies). Had a Mickey B. Burger (note: When first time at a place, I always order what has the Bars name) and it was great choice. Very tasty, filling and hit the spot in many places. Topped w/ Irish bacon, onions and melted cheddar ($9.95). They also have traditional Irish dishes (next time). What's on Tap? (Top 7 are my drink choices) Guinness (4.2%) Drifter Pale Ale (5.7%) Harp Lager (4.2%)(w/ top layer of Guinness (half and half)) Celebration - Sierra Nevada (6.8%) Chimey Triple - white (8.0%) Stone IPA (6.9%) Purple Haze (4.2% (Ladies, please try this beer.) Magic Hat #9 (5.1%) Yuengling Traditional (4.4%) Woodchuck Amber (5.0%) Smithwick's (4.5%) Shiner Bock (4.4%) Stella Artois (5.0%) Carlsberg (5.0) Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale (5.1%) Shock Top Belgian White (5.2%) Nov. 27th they Celebrated their 2nd Anniversary. Did someone say Bagpipers... Hell yeah!

We decided to hit this place up after grabbing food truck food from over at Young Circle and I got to say for being an "Irish" pub I was fairly disappointed. I prefer my Irish pubs to lean more toward hole-in-the-walls and this place reminded me more of a chain place. And just like a chain establishment their prices were way too high. I don't care where you are located. A cheap american beer should never cost $5.50. I don't know maybe that was their way of saying don't come into an "Irish" pub and order an american beer but I can't imagine what they would charge for an Irish brew. I will give it 2 instead of 1 because it was a fairly clean establishment and it had plenty of quality televisions hanging on the wall.

We had a group of 21 on Friday night at 7:00. We were all able to sit together in the back of the pub! Our ages ranged from 3 to 83 and everyone had a great time! We all had different items on the menu and everyone liked their food. I had the Irish Gold Burger which I loved. I agree with another reviewer that you do need a flashlight app on your phone to read the menu as it is dark! We loved the 2 for 1 drinks until 8 pm!!! The only downside was the $7 they charged for a shot. I was also amazed at how clean the restroom was (which if you are a woman, you get this!) This was a group of people that were all from out of town here for a wedding on Saturday (with the exception of my husband and i who live in Plantation, FL). My husband and I will definately go back!!!

This is one of my favorite places on the Hollywood strip! Nice atmosphere and really nice staff I have 3 favorite servers there. I always start off with the banger bites and their Shepard's pie is yummy too. Sometimes it's less crowded than other nights but its a great place to hang out and bring your own group of friends.

An Irish pub. In an ode to its Irish roots... I have decided to write this review as a stream of consciousness akin to the great Irish writer, James Joyce. Down to earth ambiance with cool people. Guinness flowing freely with banging bangers included in the Irish breakfast make for a great delicious time. Sports and other things playing on the many TVs entertaining the eyes. Music playing in the background is good when they have live music or when Mikey is choosing the music. I love that there's hooks under the bar to hold my purse up so I can double fist my booze which of course I never do since I'm totally a classy lady. Beer pong is available as well as darts. Love the tables, booths, bar, people. Happy hour is truly a very, happy hour. Bring a date here, if they don't like it... that's a deal breaker. :) I really love it here. And okay, that wasn't really James Joyce-esque... but hey, I tried.

I've been once - a couple of weeks ago, but I want to go again soon. With St. Patty's Day coming up, I'm sure that will happen. On my recent visit, I had a couple of Smithwick's drafts, one of my favorite beers, and ordered the Shepard's Pie, which was outstanding and cooked just right. One of my friends had the fish & chips, and said it was good as well. The place has the typical Irish bar layout and is decorated nicely. There were a group of 3 or 4 older couples square-dancing to traditional Irish music, played by some Irish musicians on the stage behind us. My friend's girlfriend knew one of the ladies from her church and said the group dancing were all originally from Ireland. So a bunch of older people from Ireland hanging out there and having a great time? I guess you can't get any more authentic than that. I'll be back at Mickey Byrnes soon to try some more of their Irish bar fare and throw back some pints!

If you order liquor during happy hour, e.g. Johnnie Walker Red, you will get charged extra if you order it neat. You will also get charged extra if you order it on the rocks. What the hell?! I confronted two different bartenders at Mickey Byrne's about this. The explanation was that you get more alcohol because it's a bigger pour. So it's a bigger if I order it on the rocks and it's also a bigger pour when I order it neat. The second guy I confronted about this (tall, built, black hair) was offended and said all bars do this. He got even more offended when I called him out on it and told him this was the only bar that I have ever been to that charges extra for neat and on the rocks. Idiot! This is total bullshit. So I decided to get confirmation from several other bartenders outside of Mickey Byrne's. All of them agreed with me that the extra charges are bullshit. The clientele is "bro-central", i.e. douchebags.

I live in downtown Ft Lauderdale with an array of pubs, clubs and trendy bars at my fingertips. But on any given night I will opt to make the trip to Mickey Byrnes in Hollywood. Here's why: OVERALL EXPERIENCE: What you'll have at Mickey's is a "Cheers like" encounter. The staff will know your name and drink preference after just a visit or two! There is always something going on from trivia, sports events, happy hours, live bands and events that benefit local nonprofits. You are almost guaranteed to have an encounter with one of the owners (as Irish as you can get) who are fun, friendly and always have a good story to tell. It's a diverse and friendly crowd just looking to have a good time. One of my favorite things about Mickey's is there is never any drama and no jerks allowed. THE FOOD: It's an assorted menu- something for everyone. Traditional and not so traditional Irish fare. Here are my top picks- 1) MICKEY B'S BURGER, it's topped with Irish bacon and cheese! 2) FLYNN'S SHEPHERD'S PIE, I can eat a vat of this it's so tasty 3) CURRY FIRES, I get the curry on the side WITH a side of garlic mayo (yes, there is a fat girl living inside of me) THE DRINK: They always have Stella on tap so I'm happy. My liquor drinking friends are never disappointed with their drinks either! THE ATMOSPHERE: One word- AUTHENTIC. Mickey's is a bona fide Irish pub. It's not like all of these contrived "Irish themed" corporate places. It's a cozy place with a beautiful bar and woodwork, cool Edison-style lighting, booths, high tops and bar seating and plenty of screens for sporting events. It's the real deal.

When I moved within walking distance of this establishment I was excited to have a bar with a decent beer selection in close crawling proximity. I went once and haven't been back since (in 9 months). I arrange the happy hour meet up's for my running club (we're a drinking club with a running problem) and we decided to go here one week (about a dozen of us) for dinner and drinks. Long story short, when I get check I notice that all of the Yuengling's I ordered were $6!!! It was past happy hour by this time so I asked the waitress how much it was for a Yuengling. She replied ($4... may have been $4.50). THESE BASTARDS UPCHARGE DRINKS DURING HAPPY HOUR AND CALL IT 2-4-1!!! That killed it for me. Whiskey Tango at the other end of the block may not have the best beer selection but at least they're honest and pleasant.

Happy hour that rocks-2 4 1 and they give you a chip, so you can come back and use it. The owner is hands-on, active in the community and very nice. The staff is great!! The food is delicious. Even the entertainment, trivia and such, is perfect for that atmosphere. Dark and cool.

I have been wanting to try this place for quite a while now and I am glad I finally did! The menu is full of Irish favorites - and some not-so-Irish, like Penne Ala Vodka. Seriously? Where does THAT fit on the menu?? Anyway, aside from that, the menu is great. I was there on a Friday night with my wife. Every Friday night, Fish and Chips are $10, which is what I had. This was a nice full fillet with a great crispy batter on a bed of fries. Very nice. My wife had bangers and mash and the onion gravy was the best I have ever had. We arrived during happy hour so it was 2 for 1 on the drinks. Good thing too, because a glass of wine was $7.50, so the 2 for 1 at least made it feel more like I was getting my money's worth. The bottom line: If you want to try some great Irish pub food, this is the place.

Expensive....not a good value. Happy hour was ok, 2 for 1. Girl decided she had more than enough to drink and didnt want to drink her final, free, drink. The bartender told us we couldn't share it!!! We already had it on the bill what does he care who I give my drink to? Who does that? 24 years of hitting bars and this was a first. Only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 was because my prior experience there a few months earlier was ok, not memorable.

Downtown Hollywood has a CLEAN BAR!!! No smoking inside, sweet, and I'm a smoker. Great for watching a game, though I'm not a watcher. Loud when a band is giggin', which is fine when I'm drunk and want to sing off key and loudly, no one can hear me. Food, well, the menu is decent, I had a mushroom and onion cheese burger, it was freakin' tasty but man on man did I have gas the rest of the night...I was rippin' some loud ones while walkin the downtown streets. I would probably order another one to see whether the gas was due to other conditions of my day or the burger itself. Regardless, I love drinking and I like doin' it here... so what's a little gas?:

Downtown Hollywood is an interesting neighborhood. Some places are gone before they even open, some are hanging on by a thread, some I wouldn't even consider dining at and some are local institutions. Mickey Byrnes has become one of the unique exceptions to the "here today gone tomorrow" motto that so much of Hollywood's restaurants subscribe to. I've noticed that it's become increasingly popular, and that even friends from out of the area have started migrating here. Everyone in my apartment building is basically a regular, too. I'll tell you why: 1. Good beer selection. Of course there's your typical Guinness and Bass, but they also have other unique choices like Brooklyn Lager (yum). 2. Good food. Yes, it's your typical bar fare, but the burger is amazing. Like throws Le Tub in the toilet good. I have not tried any of the Irish fare, but the nachos, crab cakes and salads are tasty. 3. The service is always awesome. Last night the bartender happily gave me two small beer samples so I could decide. He chatted us up a bit, in a friendly, Irish-pubby kind of way. I was also here around 12:00am last weekend. Apparently it gets pretty busy, which is cool because I want this place to stick around. Cheers to Mickey Byrnes! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm updating to give Mickey's a 5. It's my go-to spot for game watching and to have a good time. It's become my local bar, and I love it. Cheers!

Ok. We have been frequenting this place for almost a year. Its our go to spot for Guinness beer and laid back atmosphere. The food is great, and the prices are not outrageous. Four of us drank for about four hours until three were blitzed (I drank ice tea and ate! Oink!) And we spent a little under $200. Now many may think thats steep. Not really, on a Saturday night, with live music, at Young Circle. For 4 of us thats pretty decent. And the parking on the next street is perfect. Not a long walk and the area is safe as can be! My gripes are, there is only one bathroom, the vinegar fries are not yummy at all, and sometimes the music is TOO loud. But all that is small compared to the good times and awesomeness of the place!

Awesome Staff... If you go there enough they know you by name AND DRINK. My fiancee and I went there quite often and as we plopped down on our stools one of the bartenders says, "How are ya, sticking to the Jagerbombs tonight?" Great food, good beer selection, awesome people! Try them you'll love it

I consider myself a connoisseur of Irish pubs, as I come from Boston, with along with NYC, has more Irish pubs per square inch than anywhere else other than Ireland. While not quite The Field or even Maguires Hill, this place is pretty authentic. I went there once when they first opened when they had some traditional Irish musicians, and had a good pint of Guinness. Nice pour, and since I love Irish music, I was pretty psyched to have this place in near walking distance. The only Irish alternative in downtown Hollywood is Kelly's, a great place, but is far more edgy (and no less authentic). We went to Mickey Byrnes again the weekend before St. Paddy's. Were going to order food, but the place was way too loud. Where our first visit was mellow and family-oriented (older Irish ladies hanging out), it was now like a big party. The bar was packed so we had to get a booth, and had to try and find a booth that didn't have a speaker directly above it. The music was a guy with a guitar playing covers, I've seen him before at Shenanigans, and while he's good at what he does if you love Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen, you'd get the same effect if some hammered 40-something dude fed the jukebox enough money to play enough Buffet and Meatloaf for 4 hours. We weren't in the mood to party, we wanted dinner. But the place was too loud. Believe me, we'll be back when we want to party, and we'll have dinner on a weeknight when the party crowd is home. So we had a pint of Arrogant Bastard (YAY! Great stuff!) and found another place to eat. We also saw the bartender from Kelly's there having a quick pint, another good sign. This place is brand new, and has all the makings of a permanent fixture along the lines of Maguires Hill. While it may never be The Field, this promises to be a fun hang-out. We also went back for St. Paddy's parade day on Sunday afternoon. Again, place was loud and packed, but that's a good thing. Flogging Molly and the Dropkick Murphy's were on the juke. I watched a patron dump some money in the juke to play hip hop, and then watched a bar worker come up to turn it back to Irish punk. Good move. So overall- Nice place. Potential for greatness. A little small. Nice party atmosphere on weekends, mellow atmosphere on weeknights. Great beer selection, friendly servers, nice decor. Downtown Hollywood sorely needed this place.

This bar is great! The staff is awesome, great music on the weekends! Nice selection of beers on tap, good food! Happy hour Monday through Friday, different food specials each night, always have sports on their nice big projector screen tv. Best bar on the block!!! Try the new irish gold burger, amazing! And the hog wings for an appetizer with the garlic parm sauce, to die for!

Above average Irish Pub located in the heart of Hollywood. They have a good draft beer selection. Not hundreds of choices like some places, but a solid well thought out selection of 10 or so beers, with an obvious preference for Irish beer. They likely have even more selections by bottle, but given the choice I always pick draft, or more appropriately for an Irish place, draught. The atmosphere is typical for most bars. TVs on the wall, pool table, and darts. The staff is what sets this place apart from most. Very friendly and inviting. They even remember drink preferences for my friends who frequent this place more than I do. A true aspect of a neighborhood bar, which is rare for South Florida. They also have live bands on the weekend. Overall, a solid establishment to socialize in.

I love this place and should be ashamed that it took me this long to write a review! I have been coming here since they opened and it is still a favorite of mine! The staff and owner are amazing and they create a great environment. When I used to live in the area, I felt comfortable going by myself (as a single woman) knowing that the folks here would look out for me. Regarding the beers, they have a great selection on draft and some in bottles too. It's a great place to come for a cold beer in a SMOKE-FREE environment! The food here is also fantastic! If you haven't had the curry fries with a side of garlic mayo, you are missing out! The Mickey's burger is another one of my favorites! If you are in Hollywood and in the mood for a beer and some good food, this should be your destination!

Fun place with good service that i would recommend to anyone. Has a pretty genuine Irish feel to it (as far as i know) and one of the bartenders is actually from there and has a pretty kick @ss accent. The 'bangers and mash' entire is worth trying and is actually quite good. Large selection of beer. Good location. Perfect for bar hopping. Valet out front. The live band was pretty great, good selection of popular alternative rock songs from the late 80's through present.

Authentic Irish pub located in downtown Hollywood. Friendly service, good draft beer selection (I highly recommend the Stone, Smithwicks, and of course Guinness!!). The shepherds pie is the best I've ever had, and you can't go wrong with the fish and chips (if you visit on a Friday you can get them for a steal at only 10 bucks!). The live music on the weekends gets a little too loud for my taste, but overall a good time.

LOVE this place! The staff is the best, and so are the regulars. Definitely the atmosphere you want from an Irish Pub - friendly and welcoming. And I agree with the others on here... the Mickey B Burger is amazing!

We went last night for a friends Birthday, and this place just gets better. The bartender and owner now remember us, and due to the Birthday celebrations, the shots were flowing! This is my new favorite place. It makes me happy. (and mildly hungover...)

I've been here a few times and the owners and staff are pretty friendly and are always good for a laugh. Great beer selection ... food is tops ... and they have always worked to put on any sporting event I've asked. You won't be disappointed.

What a great Irish pub! Since Mickey Byrnes moved in Downtown Hollywood has been a regular stop of mine! The service is friendly and prompt. The golden Irish burger is unreal! Great spot to watch the big game and get this... It's owned by a real Irishman!!

I ate here last night and ended up with food poisoning. I wonder if this is related to the other reviews of "frozen fish" and a "closed kitchen". I'll have to look it up on the health department website. Our service was also bad, and after we put $5 in the jukebox, they turned it off. It's probably an ok place to drink, just don't order food and waste money trying to play music.

Just watched a bar tender walk a clearly intoxicated customer to their car. And the customer drove off. I'll never come back here again
