The staff could be a little more friendly but they get away with it because the food is so good. Maybe there lack of enthusiasm is due to the fact that it's always early in the morning when I come in and really who is cheerful in the morning. I know that I have a resting bitch face in the morning. Lol but definitely some of the best Colombian food you can have. Always fresh and the staff does always serve you really fast.

Prices is ok . Food is good . Service not good that's why I give them *** if they fix the service they will be *****

I walked out because I didn't get fast enough service and I was not in the mood for waiting longer than the 10 minutes I'd already pissed away standing there like a hump. I shall grant them a chance at redemption, eventually.

I thought this place was great until the day I watched them ignore the roach crawling around by the food like it wasn't a big deal. Never went back after that.

The Best Pandebono after Colombia. Love the food here. The service need a lot of improvement, the lack of servers and good service make this place hard to come back for dine in, Better take out.

La Placita offers some good Colombian items, from take out to eat in. I decided to hang for a bit since I was in the area. As hunger called, I had to order something substantial. Of course I order the typical large platter that comes with everything. The Bandeja Tipica. But before getting to the Bandeja, I had to get my hands on some of the bakery items. A pan de bono (cheese bread) and an empanada de carne (beef). These starters weren't too impressive as they were somewhat cold. The pan de bono had good cheesiness to it but unfortunately the temperature really killed what could've been an awesome cheese bread. The empanada was also cold and the 'masa' that was supposed to be fried crisp, was soggy. The potato inside the empanada was also cold and mushy, but it had good flavor. I think a few minutes in a convection oven would do the trick... Now to the main course. The Bandeja They are not shy at giving you steak, it's a pretty good size, grilled perfectly...not overcooked to rubbery tenderness - still medium. The plate comes out steaming hot with all items and a plus...avocado slice. What really messed up this dish was the old and cold arepa. It was just rubbery and inconsistent to what you expect from an arepa. But otherwise, by far one of the most impressive bandejas I've had. Other than that, the Chicharron could be seasoned a bit more...just felt like it was cut and dropped in the fryer. Table service. One word describes it all...SLOW! So as you can see, there are some inconsistencies when dining in. But I still say give it a chance.

I go here everyday to pick up the lunch special they have on the weekdays on my lunch break from work. Its very cheap and extremely delicious. I love the food here but some of the girl can be sometimes a little ride but I get some nice ones here and there. The only problem I have with this place is the service is extremely slow but other then that I would recommend having the food here : )

The reason for three stars is strictly service. Other than that, I've enjoyed the umpteen times I've been here for a quick lunch before picking up the kids. Their food is very affordable and is pretty decent. I usually have the Sancocho which never disappoints. I recommend but must warn you about service. Just walk in, grab an empty table, order your food along with your check and don't expect anything more.

Great food. if you are white do not expect any kind of service they seem to think that you are invisible cant get served at counter have to wait for place to clear out before you are even served by the 5 women working counter. Hard to believe but it is true. Love the place but dont count on service of any kind if you are american

Stop for cafe con leche and pan de Bono. Customer service lacking. No greeting or smile only a "diga" They don't add napkins in bag and when you ask for them it's like they are doing you a favor. Café good. pan Cold but tasty.

Love their beef & chicken empanadas, they are fresh and flavorful and if you like add the homemade pique(hot sauce) which is on the mild side.

Disclaimer: I am unashamed to say that this review will be completely swayed by my adoration for La Placita. Oh the memories of my early morning mile run directly to your doorstop, a perfect $1 espresso waiting to re-fuel me. And the moments of empanda blisssss where I would bite into your $1 cheese'splosion and be rewarded with a burning mouth and a queso-gasim. I've only ever experienced your takeaway coffee and empanadas, but that's always been enough for me. You never try to be anything you're not, and I couldn't thank you enough for all the times you've forced me to mutter Spanglish. You're the best $2 I've ever spent. And I wouldn't say that to just anyone.

Not so great. All their baked goods are huge portions, unlike other Colombian bakeries I've been to in the area. Not too many sweet items either. I ordered arroz con leche (rice pudding) and it had coconut in it. Not good for someone with nut allergies. I guess if you need a giant loaf of cheese bread, this might be the place to go. They also gave me the wrong pastry, I should have checked the bag. I won't be back. And prices were higher than most.

Our hairdresser in Hollywood recommended this place so we had lunch here today. Since no one spoke English, it kinda was a surprise what we ordered. We think we got the special of the day,; what arrived was a beef dish with a very tasty gravy (husband said the beef was not the best cut but he loved the flavor of the whole dish) White rice, plantains and a chicken and garbanzo bean bowl of soup. All of that was 5.99! We also had an arepa, which was corn filled with cheese on top. It was really good but probably not the healthiest to eat, I think it was fried in a lot of oil or something. The cafe con Leche was fabulous. Wow! No one liked the cheese bread. Too sweet. I also ordered a tres Leche cake to go but it was just ok. Their other desserts looked good to try next time, maybe the flan.

This place is always busy and for good reason. Their food is authentic and tasty. The servers are bilingual but sometimes clarification is a little harder when you use english. They have a bakery as well. Their arepas are awesome and their portions are huge. Their prices are more then fair. My favorite part about this place is their consistency.

First of all, this place is Colombian, not Mexican. Yelp - you need to add a Colombian subcategory under restaurants tab. With that said, La Placita satisfies when your in the mood for empanadas, bandeja paisa, sancocho, arepas, bunuelos, sobrebarriga or any other number of Colombian specialties. Bakery sells a bunch of takeaway items and some pretty good bread. Relatively cheap, stick to your ribs food. The place is not winning any James Beard Awards any time soon, but its become a rotating staple on my Hollywood, FL lunch stops when I'm in the office. Nothing fancy and seems like there are always hard working people inside. Definitely a good joint to check out if you are in the neighborhood.
