I enjoy this place a lot. Often buy meat from them.

The only reason I don't give Gino's 5 stars is because I'm not Italian, I'm Irish, there are some lines you just can't cross. That being said, their Meats especially the steaks are 5-star. I met my beautiful genius wife 11 years ago online in a Yahoo chatroom, back in the day when it was embarrassing to admit to hooking up online. (If that's not bad enough, we got married in Las Vegas, I'm not making this up) I went out to drop dead gorgeous San Diego for 2 years to be with her then brought the lucky girl back to posh West Hollywood, FL. It turns out she's a good sport.. So we find ourselves smack dab in between Gino's and a Publix on Sheridan St. and 56 ave, where I soon realized the majority of customers were Jewish (don't be hatin'). I have always loved to bring in the weekend by buying fat steaks on a Friday afternoon but soon discovered my friendly Sabbath keeping neighbors ALL loved to hit that grocery store all at one time on Friday afternoons also and it would get wicked busy, that's how I discovered Gino's. Man am I glad I ever did, all of their meat is awesome and the steaks that are already cut are usually thick, but of course they will cut to order. This place is hands on and has excellent customer service, they are extremely personable and take their time with each and every customer. Their great sausage is made in house as well as having a bakery in the back, the bread is crazy good here, in fact they give away a loaf to every customer from a little bit after they open until they run out when the customer is checking out. This is a 'meat market' but they carry a pretty decent variety of fresh vegetables but what I really love besides the meat is the imported (from Italy of course) wines, pasta, canned tomatoes, sauces, olive oil, etc. Gino's has been family owned and run (I think half their family work's there daily, the other employees I believe are all Italian also) since 1973. The founders Tony Paparella and his wife, who came to America from Italy in the mid-fifties, named the market after their eldest Son Gino who runs everything. Although Tony still pops in occasionally to get some work in, it's pretty cool. For all you NY transplants, even if not Italian try to visit Gino's, it's got a New York thing going on but probably much cleaner and friendlier! (don't be hatin') ;P *Noticed only after I wrote this review my pics didn't save on my phone :\

This is for the cake department. My first time coming to Ginos. I love the look of the grocery store, small and unique. The cake and bakery section is in the back. I was looking for a custom special occasion cake. I did a cake tasting and was disappointed how there's pretty much rum or amaretto flavored cake and different canoli filings as choice of icing. The price per slice is around 3-4$ + which I find too much. Then I tasted the samples and was turned off. I did not like any flavors, the cake was even a bit dry, everything was just wrong. Gino is a nice guy but when he saw I didn't like his prices nor cake, he left the store with an annoyed face like I took up all his time, didn't even say bye. I didn't feel bad for not ordering a cake at ALL. I ended up getting a custom cake at the local grocery store, it was perfect.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am not a big fan of meat in general, and am very picky when it comes to the smells and taste of beef, poultry etc. FINALLY, a ground beef (ground round) so fresh that I am enjoying eating it! They have a nice selection of sausages, my favorite is the chicken and veggie, but they are all super fresh and all taste great. When it comes to the Ribeye steaks, do yourself a favor and splurge on the upgraded, hormone free version, it's like double the price, but I bought both kinds and there is a huge difference in quality. Not that the regular one was bad, it was just normal. The bakery has a large selection and I can say my family has enjoyed the red velvet cake, amaretto square, rum bar and tiramisu. The deli has some great stuff, the chipped ham is always fresh. The only produce I buy is avocado, they always have nice ones and for a very good price. On my recent weekend trip for groceries, there was a festival going on and we sampled all the wine tastings offered as well as the Boars Head products. I ended up getting three bottles of wine and receiving the complimentary bottle etching. Gino was there and welcoming all who came by. Chef Bob was making some amazing bananas foster, it was sooo goood! I got back in line for a second time for more, hoping he didn't recognize me and call me out on my greediness! Based on that, Im sure the catering they offer is spectacular. My only reason for 4 stars is that the service from the staff is not always very welcoming. I guess everyone has their off days but I don't like to feel like I'm bothering the staff when I want to order an item from the bakery or the meat counter. There are two employees that are always super friendly - one young man at the cashier who told us about his renaissance festival experience and another young guy with short hair behind the meat counter, I think he has light blue or green eyes who is very helpful in explaining the products and offering cooking suggestions. Check it out for yourself, I go every weekend to buy my beef, sausage and pork chops. And did I tell you how fresh the ground beef is??!!

I saw that Groupon was offering a deal for Gino's, which was $20 for $40 worth of groceries, so I ended up buying 2 deals and got 20% off. You can't beat spending $32 for $80 worth of groceries. Gino's is an Italian market, which is similar to Doris' market. Inside Gino's, there's a deli, butcher, and bakery. They offer Boars Head lunch meat at a very reasonable price - probably the lowest price out of all the places who sell Boar's Head. And I'm right - this week Publix, Doris', and Gino's were selling Oven Gold Turkey Breast, but Gino's had it for $6.97 per lb. (You can NOT beat that). They offer fresh produce and vegetables. It's cheaper than Publix but not cheaper than Aldi's (which is where I typically buy it at). They offer a nice selection of wine. They also offer other Italian goods. On their website, they have a small weekly ad, so you can see what's on sale before you go. When you walk into the store, you'll notice that it's pretty empty. I'm not sure why, but they have been there for quite some time - so they must be doing something right. Today, I ended up getting 15lbs of skinless boneless chicken breast, 4 rib-eye steaks, 3 pan fried pork chops, 1lb of ground chuck (which was the leanest they offered), 1lb of Boars Head Ovengold Turkey, 1lb of Blazing Buffalo Chicken Breast, and 1/2lb of cheese. I ended up doing 2 separate orders of $40 each, and walking out I paid less than $2 out of my pocket. So overall, under $35 for $80 worth of groceries. And if you go on their website and view their ad, there's a coupon that you can apply towards your order. Next time I see a Groupon, I'll be buying it!

If the grocery store across the street is packed to the brim with stuff, Gino's takes a more serene and laid back approach to merchandising. This place is humungous and it may look ghostly at times, but don't be fooled, Gino's Market is a very good Italian supermarket, with lots of unique products not found at local groceries. I think the primary feature here is that you are not bothered at all while you roam the space. You are periodically approached by staff, the market is not desolate after all, but this is more in accord with the South Florida vibe and being, well, laid back. Actually, never mind. There are more than a few great things here. For one, I like the 12 foot fridge that is filled with dry sausages and cheeses. Also, I like the long deli counter adjacent to the butcher counter. These counters are impressive and they have a lot of cold cuts and sausages that are not easy to find, if you like salamis and other deli meats. The butcher shop is also amazing. Gino's carries a lot of imported meats, something I have never seen anywhere in South Florida. The rest of the shop is filled with miscellaneous Italian stuff. Several of the more important and known Italian brands of pasta are available, and almost every variety. Also, lots of canned goods, like canned tomatoes, canned soups, and lots of olive oils, vinegars, bottled peppers and olives, the whole Italian bunch. And then, a full wall of wines. Definitively worth looking at. Between Chianti and Montepulciano, you will have your hands full. Before I go, I'd like to mention the small bakery in the back of the store. They carry the usual Italian desserts like cannoli, biscotti and tiramisu, and then a bunch of very appetizing fruit tarts and cakes. I definitively liked the more professional look of the pastries here, I don't know, maybe they have a French baker making Italian pastry (?). So, for meats, deli counter, wine, dry pasta, and some canned goods, Gino's will hook it up. Trust me. Badabing badabang.

Italian Market, why yes please! It can be difficult to find a nice market that caters to Italian foods. This is a solo building with their own parking lot. Free, yes those of us who live in Miami can really appreciate free parking. As soon as we walked in a young lady was sampling some sausage that were filled with cheese and parsley. OK, well duh yes we will take a couple of pounds. We found some very nice sweet and hot Italian sausage to purchase from the meat counter as well. They have fresh pasta's, sauces, canned goods, some produce, a bakery in the back of the store and a section for wine. There was a very nice man who gave us some samples of wine and bread and cheese. OK, yes we will take some of that as well. He also told us every first Friday of the month they close the store at 7 pm, then reopen for a wine tasting for $20 per person and throughout the store they have all kinds of food sampling going on as well. Great deal, cool place to check out on a Friday evening. We found many great items. The wine selection is small but you can find some good daily wines for reasonable prices. The bakery was lovely with many great looking deserts. The cheese is where they fell short. Not much of a variety at all. Then the only fresh bread they had was Sourdough. It's a nice market to grab some meats and canned goods, and pasta. Literally you have the best of both worlds having this market and Mimi's right across the street. I will see you again for our Italian fix.

We have going here for years, and after reading some negative reviews, I felt I needed to comment. We go here for the meat and fresh sour dough bread mostly. We get some good deals on the meat and it's always fresh. The bread is great to make steak sandwiches with, and we have food orgasms while we eat them. Earlier this year, my daughter sent me a Groupon gift certificate, and I am not a big Groupon gal, but I logged in and looked for what I wanted...hoping I wouldn't get stuck with a half off certificate to some yoga place I had no interest in trying. How relieved and excited I was to find Ginos had an offer. It was a barbecue special that came with a few varieties of meat that would go great on the grill. I felt kind of weird thinking about redeeming it because I don't need an incentive to shop at Ginos. It's consistently worth every penny, and the staff practically treats us like family-giving us free bread and what not. It's just a cool little market that has a personal feel to it. So, I went to the meat counter to redeem the voucher. The guy behind the counter was familiar with the offer, yet didn't get hostile with me. He actually seemed proud that they were selling so many of these deals. The voucher was for $30 but came with $50 worth of meat. It was a great deal. So, if you have read the reviews saying that the voucher crowd is treated less well than everyone else, I can dispute that based on my own experience. Also, I have gone to the meat counter with a confused look on my face, and not sure what I wanted exactly. I have told them my menu plans and they have helped with choose the right meat for the dish...without making me feel like an idiot or an inconvenience. I only wish we were so busy these days, or I would visit them more often. We are always excited with what we get from Ginos!
