Got into town here in Tarpon Springs today and passed by this German Restaurant. Being Christmas Eve, my folks & I were looking for a nice Restaurant to enjoy a special Holiday Meal. I pulled this one up on Yelp & saw it had over 4 stars for an average rating. I immediately called the restaurant and asked if they were open for dinner tonight with it being Christmas Eve. To my amazement, they were and they were able to get us a reservation at the last minute. We arrived about 20 minutes before our scheduled reservation, but were able to get seated right away. The first thing I noticed with the incredible ambiance throughout the restaurant. They had German Christmas music playing and the entire Restaurant was decorated for the holiday. Our Waiter was very knowledgeable & friendly, he was able to suggest some items as well as explain others. I went with the Cordon Blue Pork for my main course and their variety dish of sausages for our appetizers. Both of these dishes were some of the best German Fare I have ever had and I've been to Germany many times and enjoyed many a good meal over there. I would Highly Recommend this Restaurant and hope to make it back here again someday soon. Merry Christmas & Thanks to the Staff & Chefs for making our Special Holiday Dinner so amazing.

I can't pronounce or spell any of the menu items but I had the pork schnitzel, my husband had the sausage with potato and my son had a chicken dish. We all enjoyed the food, the service and the decor in the restaurant. It was a pleasant surprise. Would go back for the early bird meals as we couldn't finish ours and I hear they are a little smaller and half the price.

I tried this restaurant on the recommendation of a person staying at the same hotel I was at - man, am I glad I ran into that guy! I'm a total foodie and love to try new restaurants, so I was glad to stop by this quaint little place. As soon as you walk in, you are immersed in German culture. The place looks like a converted house and the waitresses are all German and wearing German dresses. Everyone is super friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed and pleasant. I had the sampler platter and could only finish 2/3's of it. The plate was the size of a large pizza and completely covered with absolute deliciousness! I would totally recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes authentic German fare! I only wish my wife could have been there to witness my failure to clean my plate. I don't think that has happened in our 10 years of marriage. I usually end up eating all of mine and the rest of hers...

Surprisingly, this is not the only German restaurant in town, but it's the one that I think of first and foremost. I've tried a little of everything major at this point, and all I can think is: "How on Earth is German food not immensely more popular?" Comfort food at some of its very best. Jagerschnitzel, renderroulade, leberkase, the best plum cake you'll ever eat, German potato salad and apple sauce and potato pancakes, and wonderful sausages. This is everything I hoped it would be.

The German Restaurant has excellent, authentic German fare. I enjoy the Sampler Platter because you can try a little bit of everything. Service is always top notch and the owners are very friendly. Make sure you save some room for dessert!

Wow! Where do I begin? This place is awesome!! Hubby & I went here on a Friday night & the place was packed. We opted to sit outside but could still here the live German music playing from inside. All of the staff was wonderful! My husband got to chat with the hostess and server in German which was delightful. The place is very Bavarian. We had the potato pancakes for an appetizer and they were delicious. Our meals came with soup or salad and we both chose the soup. It was a creamy tomato soup and it was incredible! For our main dishes, I had the jäger schnitzel with spaetzle and hubby had the pork shank with red cabbage & potato dumpling. Everything was amazing! It was like being back in Germany! I can't wait to go back!!!

Cute decor in the restaurant but does feel a little touristy. The food was good and simple but nothing overly delicious or over the top. The service was great and all the servers were very attentive. I think for the location and their not being a lot of German food around here it is great, it just isn't the best I've ever had.

I came here with my Dad and Brother and thought it was wonderful, I can't wait to take my Wife there the next time we go down for a visit.

I must say that in general I am not a fan of German/Bavarian food, for me. it has always been a heavy meal. I did NOT find that to be true of this restaurant. On our 1st visit I ordered the Cordon Blue. For me that is the 'safe' meal to order. This was outstanding. Chicken tender, sauce great, potatoes done perfectly. I would order it again, (actually I did on our 2nd visit.) The owner of the place is a wonderful lady. On out 1st visit she made the time to get to know us a bit as we were new to the area. **I would suggest making a reservation as this restaurant was full both times we've been there.**

This place is very authentic. The food was as if they flew it straight from Germany. The staff was so nice as the made our food experience more enjoyable. I would recommend this place to friends and family. I was really glad our friends brought us here and we all look forward to the return. Thank you for such great food

This is one of Pasco counties hidden gems. When we arrived we were met by our hostess at the door and seated immediately. The decor was very cozy. I felt as if I were having dinner at a close friend's home. Although there were several parties eating and chatting it up the noise was minimal. I had Saucerbraten and my husband had ordered the Hunters plate. Both of our dinners were delicious and very filling. I felt that it was well worth the price. The service was very timely and extremely friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Really nice German restaurant. Used to go to the one off Waters before it closed, but was having trouble finding a replacement. Service was great and food takes a bit to come out, but it is really really good stuff. Nice dining expeirence, very nice atompshere inside, and just all around good time to be had by all who come here. I got chicken schnitzel with the creamy mushroom sauce and the warm potato salad. Also, got potato pancakes as an appetizer with applesauce, very very nice. Overall, this is a must go whenever you get a hankering for German.

I got there in time to take advantage of the early bird specials so I had the pork schnitzel w salad. Salad was rather plain. My sister got the soup...that was tasty. The schnitzel was average at best. But i havent had it before so maybe its amazing to those who appreciate it. The entrée came with cranberries (always a fan of and cut the fried -ness of the schnitzel well) and potato salad (not my taste). I also got a couple desserts to share. We got the black forest, hazelnut and a cake the started with a "B" and had a german name. All just okay. Black forrest had chunks of cherries and pieces of chocolate through, the german name cake had A LOT of cream in between. The hazelnut was the best I thought. Right amount of sweetness and tasty. Overall glad I tried german food but won't be returning.

Cute place...good service....had an early bird special ...excellent German bread, a wonderful potato soup . Only complaint no music and the mixed veggies were frozen and tasteless. ..But overall great and will be back

Charming and home style German restaurant The shnitzel is amazing as are the crispy pancakes. We got the sampler plate for the two of us and a side of the potato pancakes and it was the perfect amount of food. Recommended! Sadly didn't have room for the Black Forest cake hopefully next time

This is a very cute restaurant where the owners try very hard to establish an ambience, a decor as well as food which reflects their German theme. We came here on a very busy Saturday night without reservations. On entry we were asked if we had reservations, and the hostess's body language reflected a certain disdain when we replied in the negative. We were seated, however, and finally given menus although another group arriving later than us were seated directly behind us and were waited on and served before us. I later found on their website that "reservations were high recommended." I would post that on their door, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. I was the only one in our party who had never been here before. Having never been to Germany, I have no basis for comparison to say what is "authentic" German fare so I look for the familiar. Classic French onion soup was one of my selections. The soup was very well done, prepared in a classic style. There was a substantial taste of garlic, but not overwhelming, which I found somewhat unusual. Overall it was very good. For an entree, I chose the spaetzle noodles prepared with swiss cheese and caramelized onions served with a salad. The salad was simple but well prepared. The noodles turned out to be what I considered a pretty high class macaroni and cheese. I thought it was very good. I've never gone wrong with macaroni and cheese. One member of our party on a low carb diet chose the German sausage sampler, a very large selection of grilled sausages served with sour kraut. His only complaint was the small amount of mustard it was served with. Another chose the chicken cordon bleu. A classic dish, it was very well prepared and served with cauliflower with cheese sauce and mashed potatoes- a very Germanic presentation. Everything was served hot and was well-prepared. Our entire dining experience was around two hours and fifteen minutes. If you like German food and don't mind a slow and leisurely pace, this is a good choice in Holiday but might be a more enjoyable experience during less busy times of the week.

I've been craving German food for a while and always driven by this place thinking, "we should try that sometime." Well "sometime" was now and I'm glad I stopped. The decor is cute, the girls speak German and the food is so delicious! A bit pricey for a weekly affair, but definitely somewhere I'd come back on paydays.

  • Alyssa M.

We ate here this weekend and oh my was the food delicious!! It is in a cute little place right off of 19! All of the girls are dressed in cute German attire. They are actually from Germany!! They explain everything to you! We had the sampler and we ate it down to the last drop! Ive never tried liver before and didn't think I would even like it but to my surprise it was so good! Very reasonable pricing and service was super quick! The tables have cute SP shakers on each one and the décor is just like your in Germany in grandmoms kitchen. Cant wait to take my family here when they visit!

This was recommended by the hostess at my hotel. I walked the half mile to the restaurant from the hotel. They did not disappoint. Erdinger Weissbier was served in the appropriate glass. The Jaeger Schnitzel was very tasty and tender. Two slices of schnitzel with spaetzle. I took half with me for lunch the next day. The wait staff was very courteous, prompt and attentive. Atmosphere is relaxing and enjoyable. If you like authentic German food this is the place to go.

We went here for dinner and got 4 different meals. None of them were good. The goulash was not edible the schnitzel was greasy and the potato pancakes were greasy and mushy. Won't be going back here anytime soon.

German restaurants in North Pinellas county are as rare as my neighbor ladies here who can still fit size 4 blue jeans. I took my chance to try this beloved local gem since my German sister-in-law came visit us in Florida. At the end, she gave a passing grade for its authentic cooking (except desert). Authentic is important. Flavor is everything. 4 of us all ordered pork dishes. 'Schnitzel ' was tender and juicy, but homemade potato salad side dish was the star! 'Roast pig hock' served in large portion and extra 4 dollar will be charged for sharing. It was good but I won't order it again because it was bit salty. Both sauerkraut and red cabbage are the best I had tried outside of Germany. I will go back for more! The selling point is the restaurant itself. You are welcome by the warm family atmosphere the moment you walk in. Lovely host gives us the best service she can and we feel we are part of the family. You hear a lot of laughing, smell great food, taste real German draft beer. It is such an ideal place for family and friends gathering. Things to know: Make reservation ahead. Early bird serves smaller portion. Try their beer selections. Bring friends. Restaurant close on Wed. Have fun there!

I have been going to this restaurant for over 30 years. The original owners did a great job making sure that the people that they sold the business to have the same passion that the original owners had.. Enough about the history. The Lobster Bisque that have is second only to Bern's Steakhouse. The size of the lobster pieces are large... The staff are so friendly and a few of the staff have been there for over 6 years. Can't remember eating at any other restaurants where I have seen the same wait staff. The menu has a large variety and the prices are good. It is one of my favorite places to go...Enjoy!

Had an early bird dinner with extended family here. It is probably one of the best places around this area. .. The restaurant itself is very cute, a lot of little European nicknacks, great atmosphere! The early bird dinner is well worth it. I had the beef liver- it was tasty, came with mashed potatoes and sautéed onions. My hubby had the pork, also tasty. It came with a scoop of what looked like should be mashed potatoes, but it wasn't. It was gooey and not good :( I had higher hopes for the deserts. The Black Forest cake was excellent, but the hazelnut cake left lots to be desired. It tasted kinda bland and buttery. My only real complaint was that there were seven of us and we ordered 4 deserts. I expected all of us to get spoons to share the deserts. We did not. All in all, I would love to go back if i am in the area.

We lived in Germany for 4 years and were super excited when we saw this place on our drive home...however...side dishes sounded authentic but didn't quite come through, the schnitzel wasn't home made...never seen pork with corners...sauces were a little boring and salty, the lobster bisque was passable as it did have some fresh ingredients. We only stopped in off the cuff, so I wasn't as disappointed as if we'd made reservations. Could have been a local travel favorite but didn't quite meet the mark for us.

If you think the strip of US 19 that runs through Holiday has little to offer... well, you're mostly right. However, Holiday will surprise you once in a while if you stop and give it a chance. The German Restaurant is a prime example. I lived in Holiday more years than I care to remember. In fact, admitting that I lived in Holiday is making me feel anxious and a bit nauseated... but I digress. I wish I would have found The German Restaurant while living in Holiday because this place is a gem. This community is lucky to have such a great place. First off, they have a decent selection of German Beer. You can get a 12, 14, 16 or 32 oz... or you can get Das BOOT! I did not, but you can. I tried a Kostritzer Dark and the Paulaner something-or-other, both were good. I started with the Liver Dumpling Soup... I don't even like liver, but I was feeling risky and it paid off. This was excellent. The broth was flavorful and the liver meatball was very good and not overwhelmingly tasting of liver... if that makes any sense. I got the Duck Breast for dinner. It's a funny thing, duck. If not cooked properly, it's awful. This was cooked perfectly, moist and delicious with an interesting and tasty orange-honey-cajun sauce. After all that, I still couldn't leave without trying the Apple Strudel. It's served with a side of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream... Their apple filled pastry goodness will make you want to slap the Pillsbury Doughboy for that mess his company tries to pass off as Strudel. This place is so good. The staff was professional and very friendly. The food was excellent. It could turn into a must stop every time I take a trip to the area.

We have visited this restaurant many times over the years and have not had any problems, but the last few times we have left unsatisfied. After this last visit we will not be returning ever again. The food once again was very bland and tasteless. I believe they have gone to more frozen and processed foods this last year trying to save money, unfortunately it has really affected the taste of their food. The other problem is their staff. The last few times we have gone in their staff has been right down rude, and if you order off their early bird menu expect to be treated like a second class citizen. Will not be returning and sad it went down hill so quickly...

  • Kevin F.

Their potato-pancakes with applesauce are some of the best I've had. The sampler is good here, if you're looking for some variety. The music can be a little silly at times, but the staff is friendly and the atmosphere lends itself well to family dinners or casual dates. *** HOURS *** The restaurant hours are different from what is listed on their website. Monday, they are closed. Tuesday through Thursday, they are open from 4-9 pm. Friday and Saturday, they are open 4-10 pm. Sunday, they are open from 1-9 pm. NOTE: The kitchen closes 30-min before the restaurant, so you'll need to be there before then.

we LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. the early bird specials are a STEAL, but we like to order from regular menu after the crowd thins out at 6pm. our favorite entree so far is the schnitzel with hunter sauce, although we enjoyed everything, including the different beers, that we have tried. even their homemade rye bread is killer! you must go hungry because you cannot leave without trying the absolute best apple strudel i have ever had. bits of apple are throughout the perfect dough, but it is the custard sauce that puts it over the top even without the perfect whipped cream and ice cream that comes with it. i dont usually have dessert, but it is a must do here. did i mention that their black forest cake is also OUTSTANDING? we frequented all the best german restaurants back in chicago, and we were thrilled to find this gem here
