I feel like such a tourist when I visit my in laws. Apparently one of the family members told them they needed to try this place so of course we ventured out to get them una completa. Translation special of the day which consist of a protein and two sides which feeds 2 and you will still have leftovers for the next day. The lechon (pork) is cut into pieces once you order. You will be asked if you want mojo, which is a marinade made with onions, garlic and sour orange. We ordered Moro and Yuca as sides. The Moro tasted great and Yuca was nice and soft and mojo was garlicky and tangy as it should be when done correctly. This is a no frills type of place which serves great lechon.

Thank you for listening to all the complaints from your customers about the massive amount of salt being put into your dishes. Today, was my first time here in over a year because of this. Rumor has it, I can't confirm this, that you have changed owners. That being said, this restaurant looks disgusting on the outside. It's time you consider cleaning it with a pressure hose, fix the awning which has holes and ripping apart. Take care of this soon and I will consider giving you better feedback as far as stars are concerned. Anyone driving here for the first time will more likely than not turn around and drive away. On the inside, however, this is not the case. The food is now eatable if you're not a fan of salt and absolutely delicious. I had the Lechón Asado (roast pork,) Moros and Plátanos Maduros (Sweet Fried Plantains.) I say it all the time on-line, "if you want to judge a Cuban Restaurant, try their pork." Very fresh, earthy and possibly the poor thing was just killed this morning. Luckily and thankfully, I am not a Vegan. Today, for the first time since you've been there, I was able to taste why your Moros were always so popular. The massive amount of salt on your food was most notable on your Moros. My sister, who should be the Poster Child for Morton's Salt, even complained about this many a times. I now must tell her the good news.

The food is great no matter what you get. The lomo is outstanding and what I always order. Buñuelos for desert are great and authentic. The food is very fresh as they move a lot of food especially to go. Keep in mind this is not a fancy looking restaurant but you can't beat the food quality and prices. The wait staff is very pleasant too.

Mesa's BBQ cooks up some of the most succulent and out-of-this-world pork you will ever taste. Hands down. Specializing in Cuban Guajiro recipes, Mesa's BBQ breaks away from the hundreds of competitors thanks to its main focus: flavor. This family-owned restaurant has been grilling pork in Miami since the early 90s and has grown to be one of Florida's best BBQ spots. The house speciality -- anything and everything pork -- is Cuban food at it's best.

Went there to grab a quick snack but was on the phone and not really paying attention got inline and decided to Yelp it after I got off. Thank God! After reading the last review (thanks Dennis) started looking around. The place is gross, nobodies wearing a hair net, the staff is touching money with the same hands they touch the food with-got the hell out of there quick. If your in the area try someplace else

Wow!!! I love their lechón. They are an efficient producer of deliciously cooked pork, chicken, and beef. They also sell plantain chips, gooooooooooood with whatever else!!!:-). They have yuca, really good stuff. Mesa's great for beach days and cookouts. They save you the trouble of smelling like a cooked pig;-)

I was so disappointed to find out they sold me bad rice. It smelled and tasted funny. When I confronted the owner he told me he sold me rotten rice and refused to refund my money. Needless so say I reported the restaurant to the Health Department.

So I usually come here when my dad doesn't feel like cooking and I get some cuban food to go. We always get the "arroz amarillo con puerco" yellow rice with pork and chicharones. Let me tell you, the yellow rice with pork is AMAZING! Its just like my madrina makes it and its so good. They put sufficient amounts of pork in the rice and there super cheap. I've never had anything else other than this but the rice is too good so I always end up getting the same thing.

noticed mesa bbq showed up as closed - this was their old location on the east side of Hialeah.. they actually moved to the west side. it still is a very very casual place filled with delicious typical smells of homemade Cuban food. you want an authentic pork sandwich, this is your place... it is seasoned well shredded pork served on a nice size of Cuban bread with lots of onions and MOJO! (don't like onions u have to let them know) tamales here are so good too!!! good for a quick lunch w/o any fuzz or frills... just alot of napkins! Moro and fried pork chunks (masitas de puerco) are a favorite too.....
