From Indiana on a business trip and had to find some home and authentic Puertorican food. Service was excellent and the place looked clean and well organized. The food was superb and the prices were just and not over priced. Highly recommended and will bookmark this location for future visits to this area.

Family owned and run. Service is slow to get started, but you have the daughter taking orders. It's that type of local place. The food was good, not great. The Mofongo was served with chicken stock like it is in PR, which was cool. The fryer oil needed to be changed. The old oil certainly took away from the flavor of the Mofongo, Carne Frita, and the Alcapuria. Very reasonably priced, but like I said, good not great.

The mofongo is delicious! My shrimp was a bit over cooked but I will definitely return.

I'm sorry, but anyone rating this place above 2 stars has no idea what Puerto Rican food should taste like! Rice with gandules, an insult, mofongo a greasy mess, the caldo was water with knorr cubes diluted, pastel a disgusting mushy tamal, the pork dry, flavorless and looked days old! Beans? OMG my dog may cook them better! Out of pineapple juice for piña colada? Perhaps was a blessing for me! Obviously not returning. I'm one to support fellow Ricans buss, but this restaurant needs help! It's a Shame. If they can't recall what real Boricua flavors are like, they need to visit El rancho original in Puerto Rico and if that's too far, drive to la lechonera in Orlando!

Really authentic flavors here. I had the mofongo with lechon asado. It was the perfect combination of salty and sweet, very addictive. Hubby had the palomilla steak, which he said was very tasty. Service was also great. Fulfilled my mofongo craving to a T!

We had been told about this puertorrican rest. for a while and decided to go ck it out this past weekend. We got there about 4pm and it was empty. I guess, since it was the long weekend and all, not many people where around but it got a little busy later on. Jose, our very nice, gracious and quiet waiter, was excellent. With a shy smile every time you asked him something about the menu and very apologetic when we asked for a specific dish (piononos) and they don't have that there. So off we went to inspect the menu and our options. We started with bacalaitos (cod fish fritters) and alcapurrias (similar to a tamal but made of green banana) and they were delicious. Hubby and my sister in law had fruit juices and they were very happy with them. Our food came out perfect, the mofongo con carne frita was very good, hubby's plato criollo with rice, pastel and pork was delicious and my sister in law's whole fried fish looked amazing. We had flan for dessert and it was delicious. It's a family owned restaurant with Jose's grandma being the wonderful cook. All in all, it was a delicious dinner, with wonderful service, it is worth the drive.

Unfortunately, I agree with Naygie R., this place was a sad representation of what Puerto Rican food should be, or what a restaurant should be. When my wife and I went (I'm PR), there were only two other couples there, and they were already eating, yet it took the waiter about another 5 - 7 minutes to come over and acknowledge our presence. The restaurant wasn't exceptional in any way, and aside from all the PR decorations, it seemed sad and dingy...not well kept. We ordered chuletas (pork chops), which were drier than the Sahara Dessert, I had white rice and beans which tasted straight out the can, nothing in it to give it taste. I had their alcapurria which had almost no filling (ground meat), and what there was, was tasteless. I was really hoping that I would like this restaurant. I haven't been able to find a good Puerto Rican restaurant since I left NY. After living in CA for 5 years and seeing only 2 Puerto Rican restaurants there, I thought moving here would definitely be better...but not so. I'm surprised there isn't more of a selection here of PR food. Anyway, back to Coqui, the service was really slow (only one guy), who was that friendly or happy to see anyone, it seemed. He said his wife was the cook...so I couldn't say to him what I thought. Anyway, it seems from the other Yelps here, that the food was actually good in 2009 - 2010 and then something happened. Please get a real cook who knows how to add pumpkin or potatoes to the beans, to make them nice and thick, with some ham chunks in it, and some alcaparado, too. Take the time to make some real mojito dip, and not just scrape out some of the bottled garlic in a jar, put it on a plate, and call it mojito...it's not. Make fresh, thick pork chops and make sure the oil is nice and hot to fry the outside and cook the inside, yet leaving it juicy. Go online, if you must! Good luck!

Que Rico!!!!!!!!! Adorable hole in the wall, family run restaurant. Most authentic Puerto Rican food in the area. Serving a variety of Mofongo dishes. I had the beef and Hubby had shrimp. Both outrageously delicious and filling. Super reasonable and authentic feeling. Dinner for two with tostones and sodas around $30! Def will be going back!

I went to Isla Del Coqui expecting just ordinary food, what I got was a flashback to when I was growing up. There were eight of us all PR from NY and we had the Appetizer#1. It was great, the pasteles, alcapurrias everything was delicious.

I experienced Isla del Coqui for the first time today. Being from Puerto Rico, I am always in the lookout for "food from home". Tonight, a Saturday night, was finally the perfect opportunity. We arrived to a small cozy restaurant as we expected. We were seated right away and had our choice of table. The service was good, the prices excellent and the food was good too, so I can't complain there. However, the environment was probably a bit louder than we would have liked with music playing a bit too loud and what we could only assume were a few "a little loud" regulars at the bar. Yes, it was Saturday night so I "get it"! Overall, we enjoyed our meals, if only wishing for a little bit more peace and quiet. Maybe we'll try a weeknight next time. If you are in the mood for some good Puertorican food albeit with some boisterous company and salsa music, try Isla del Coqui and you'll have a lot of fun!

I have gone here several times and I have to say they were excellent. I am a New Yoriquen and have been looking for a Puerto Rican place close to me in Boca. Even though this is about 25 minutes from me its worth the drive. My favorite it the Tri-Fongo and they even make Mabi. Everything was great and their service is even getting better since the last time.

The restaurant itself is very clean and nice the food was very good but being around Puerto Ricans all my life and being raised on Puerto Rican food it was just four-star very good but could be just a teeny bit better. I would still recommend this restaurant for anybody that likes authentic Puerto Rican food

Still my preferred spot for Boricua favorites. The rice with pigeon peas... OMG... So good.
