Can't recommend this Restuarant to anybody. The food varied from poor to just OK. Something on the salad bar was just turning bad--either the bean salad or the sliced beets. The green beans which came with the entree tasted like they were canned (though this effect might have been achieved by cooking them early in the day and keeping is a steam table all day). Me wife had grilled Mahe Mahe... Which suffered from freezer burn. My grilled "grouper" was nicely cooked... But couldn't have really been grouper--the filet was way too thin. However, all of this paled in comparison to the REAL problem-- the endless set of way too loud music. I found it impossible to carry on a conversation.

Nice place for outdoor dining, especially seafood; (Indoor dining with air conditioning as well.) We've been to Old Marco Lodge a half-dozen times over the past decade and enjoyed it every time. Only on the last visit did we discover a band plays Sunday afternoons (maybe other times as well). It's a couple minutes off Marco Island to the east. Between this and Pelican Bend also just off Marco Island to the north, both are on-the-water casual dining (casual as in shorts and flip-flops are fine) this has a little more fit and finish and Pelican Band seems a little more casual and easygoing without being run-down. Old Marco Lodge has a bit broader menu. Another review griped about the music all the time. Lighten up, buddy. Marco has that feel of an old-folks island and hearing '80s music softens the edge when you're out dining with retiree parents / relatives. Here, the dock is big enough that you can be well away from the band.

Best hospitality around. Brian & Shellie are the best. Peggy is a wonderful manager!Been coming here for 20 years and always made to feel welcome and appreciated. The comp salad bar was fresh and crisp! Music always rocks and the view is stunning. Candy on the bar outside is sweet and a hot ticket. The bathrooms were spotless FYI. Relax and forget "Markup Island". Kick back and let your hair down, enjoy the huge, clean waterfront deck with an ice cold beverage! - "Goodland- the way South Florida should be"!

Walked around back about 4:00 on a Tuesday evening and sat down at the outside bar. Loved the funky feel of the place. My husband and I were on vacation with our two adult kids so we wanted to start with a drink and then we were hoping for a casual dinner on the deck. Well, the bartender was terrific and the drinks were quick and cold. That is why this place gets one star. When we were ready to sit at our table he let the server know and then he walked us over and set us up with menus. The server NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED US!! She was not busy and she never even made eye contact with us or said hello. We decided we had waited long enough after about 10 minutes and we simply left. So rude. Would never recommend this place!!

Food was pretty good and the portions are very large. Come hungry! Pricing is a bit high for my taste but so is the rest if Marco. Our server was great and very attentive. The view is superb right on the water! They also have live music on weekends which makes for great entertainment and dancing. Parking is tricky there so if it's on a weekend try and car pool with friends to ease up the congestion of vehicles that are parked in the side of the road. This place is a must see if you visit Marco Island. I will visit again!

Fresh grouper was very good. Good sweet potato fries. Great service on outside deck. Great salad bar.

    Simple math:grouchy bartender +servers & bartenders arguing + dirty bathroom=yuk....go elsewhere

Went twice for drinks only. Nice bartenders both times, good well poured drinks, great view, friendly local customers. It's got a "divey" feel to it, but we kinda like that.

Not so old but getting better. And I'm a fan. Time for an update What a great time to enjoy the great waterside deck, to people watch and great views of Goodland water views. And I am very happy to report that things are getting better the new bar is now a large U shape that allows 4x more space the deck has newer umbrellas and more space to enjoy the band and a dance area nearby. Staff are always friendly even when we grabbed a table that a waiting list was started. There were 2 other tables that were empty at the time it was a busy Sunday. Food: 4 Ambiance: 5 Service: 4 Location: 3 easy to find by boat or car. Parking is hard to get people need to carpool. Value: 4 fairly better beer prices compared to Stan's.

Who knew that Goodland was so hopping?! This place had some awesome live music the night we dined there for dinner on the bay. It was pretty loud dancing music, and I found it amusing to watch the older (60-70s) crowd cutting up the dance floor. The entertainment was fun, but you couldn't carry a conversation at all over the music. Our server was awesome...really fast with drinks and food, and attentive but not over-bearing. And our food was great! I had the Fried Shrimp basket and a glass of the white zinfandel. Perfect vacation dinner.

Had a nice dinner outside. Beautiful sunset view. The food was good...not great, but good. What this place lacked compared to some of the other places we dined this week was ambiance and plating. Drinking wine out of a plastic cup was a little odd, but maybe because we were sitting outside? Then again, we were seated at plastic patio tables. Again...good food...just not much pizzazz for the environment. I gad the fish platter - blackened grouper, snapper and Mahi Mahi. It was fine. I'd go back for a casual dinner to see the sunset.

The food was excellent here at old Marco lodge. Bugs were too bad outside, so we sat inside which was perfect. I took advantage of the grouper oscar special that night as I am very particular about my grouper (being a chef) and was not disappointed. Did I mention I heard the best music ever from a musician playing there? The service was delightful too. I guess I can't find anything wrong with this place! This definitely deserves a 5/5!

We have dined at all the spots on this island and this one is great. Excellent view and service. Stuffed mushroom app was great with outstanding crab stuffing on a bed of lettuce drizzled with what tasted like a balsamic vingerette. Wife had the crab cake sand with sweet tater fry's she loved it all! My fried oysters were pretty good, but not the best ever so they are only getting 4 ****. Slaw that came with my oysters was homemade and great. We will be back.

This place used to be on Marco Island, but it was moved to its current location several decades ago. It has an old lodge feel, right on the water, the food is very good, the fish I had came from Miami. Cooked perfectly. The hosts were fantastic. My only complaints are two. First, I just don't want music all the time. It is okay to not have music. I had rather listen to the gulls. Second, during the updating of the place, they lost some of the old feel and there is a little bit of a cafeteria feel inside the building. However, I am not really holding this against them, you will not be disappointed.

They call this the Olde Marco "Crab" house! Now I know why! The Crabby barmaid was the only Crab I saw! if you want really snotty bar service go here! short haired bitchy barmaid will be sure not to disappoint! if you like to wait for drinks with snarky attitude this place will be perfect for you.

Another place on the island with terrific views of the water and a great "island" feel. We sat by the bar on the deck and enjoyed live music during the meal. The two guys playing, I believe it was Konnie and Smokin' Joe, were great. They loved our 2 boys and kept throwing their names into the lyrics just to get a laugh. They also had the boys hold their guitars and pose for a picture. Back to the restaurant. The waitress was an older woman who seemed mildly amused by us. She was friendly and pretty quick with the drinks. The food was mediocre. I ordered the count shrimp. They were a bit over done. Too dark for my taste. The special sauce that came with them (can't remember the name of it) just seemed like mayo. Nothing special really. This meal also included a trip to a typical salad bar and cost me $25. I think there were 5 or 6 shrimp. For that price I'd like a little more next time. Most of the meals at the table seemed to be a similar experience. I'd give another star for larger portions or better cooking. Final note: the kids also loved looking at the live alligators kept out on the deck. A nice touch that other places don't have.

My husband and I visited Goodland for our honeymoon, and we thought Old Marco Lodge would be nice. It has one of the most beautiful patios in Goodland, it overlooks the bay and has quite a large deck. Great for picture taking. The service here was great, our waitress was very helpful in guiding us through the menu and wine selection. The food was okay, but I would have to say the service, atmosphere and general overall ambience was great. The staff was wonderful! I would definitely go there again.

Restaurant is in town of Goodland, at end of Marco Island. Good food and average prices. The view from dockside seating, particular during daylight hours, is fantastic. Salad bar is only average but is included with dinner entrees. Wait staff is always friendly but sometimes stressed. Drinks are very reasonable for Marco Island. Well worth a lunch or dinner stop.

Let's see - Lunch at Old Marco: 1. Been around since 1869 so it's a glimpse of "old Florida" for real 2. It's on the water 3. It was sunny 4. The folks at the front welcomed us like old friends, the waitress was great 5. The Coors Light was COLD and $2.79 6. The oysters on the half shell were tasty and $10.95 a dozen 7. The fried oysters (about a dozen) were great, came with sweet potato fries, and cost $9.95. ( I added some coleslaw) Are you kidding me ???? I'd died and gone to heaven. It should be an 11 star restaurant! I didn't have any of the stone crab. And there was a Captain Kirk's seafood on the other side of the parking lot so I was able to get great FRESH shrimp for my shrimp gumbo. I have a new FL favorite...

We found the staff very accomodating, since just as we arrived (about 9:10PM on a Friday night), they'd just closed up the salad bar (damn! I love the free-for-all of a salad bar), and were preparing to close the main kitchen, but seated us for dinner all the same. Location is very charming, most definitely off the Marco Island "gold coast". Our hotel bellhop at Marco Beach Ocean Resort recommended this place when we asked for a suggestion of where locals might enjoy their seafood. Although it was well after dark when we arrived, we could tell that the right-on-the-water view must be great...by day. : ) I ordered the sauteeed grouper and my friend had the stone crab. Despite the salad bar closure, the server proactively offered to have the chef make us a simple salad. As a point of full disclosure, I would have to say that unfortunately, neither of us was very hungry, because we'd opted to rush over to Old Marco (we really wanted to try this spot) when we phoned ahead and were advised that they'd be serving only for another 45 minutes (this turned out to be not more than 30 minutes, actually). My grouper was fair - definitely fresh, but paradoxically both a bit drier and oilier than I like. My friend thought the stone crab was also really fresh, but just a little bland - being new to the wonders of stone crab, neither of us could really judge as to whether this is exactly as it should have been. The tab came to nearly $80 with one drink each, which felt a bit high to us - in fairness, perhaps because we missed out on the salad bar, and because the entrees might've been suffering from a touch of "late-night fatigue", which is just the way things are when a restaurant seats you graciously even though they're essentially already closing up shop. There was an absolutely darling young husband and wife duo singing & playing the guitar up on the little stage in the front of the restaurant (in front of an honest-to-god wooden dance floor, suggesting that maybe the locals really whoop it up at Old Marco from time to time), and their good-natured taking of requests from a family group ranging from toddlers to grandparents so that they could all dance together really made the night for us. I think we'd have to give Old Marco Crab Lodge's food and the waterside view another try to give more than three stars, but we had some quiet fun with the touching floor show here, and the staff's willingness to accomodate couldn't be beat.

Both my husband and I ordered the broiled scallops and they were bland and dry. Our guests had the grouper oscar and were disappointed too. We like the entertainment, but won't be back for dinner.

Last night in Marco Island and our first choice was a 1&1/2 hour wait so we yelped this place with only 2 reviews. It is right on the water and probably very nice to sit on the deck in warm weather. We were experiencing a cold front and it was late, so we ate inside. I ordered the house special "stuffed" grouper at $35 market price. It was not stuffed but had a crab topping which was supposed to be baked but came to me cold. The fish was proper temperature but it looked like the crab was an afterthought. I sent it back for proper baking, returned warm but the rest of my family was already done with their meals. It was also loaded with a heavy paprika mix topping which was way too strong for the dish. A real disappointment. My wife had the grilled chicken which was dry at best. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars was that my daughter's grilled cheese and sweet potato fries were actually good. I'm sure the bar grub is good but avoid anything that requires talent! In fact do yourself a favor and go next door to Little Bar for better food.

Food was great. Service was OUTSTANDING. The waitress was a real sweetheart and was very tentative. The views from the patio of the water are great and they had live music as well outside. The food was good and reasonably priced. My only complaints would be they didn't have a handful of items on the menu available and the inside dining area was a little warm. Other than that I would totally go back again next time we're in Goodland!

Although a bit windy today we had lunch on the deck. As usual coconut fried shrimp were excellent and live entertainment to boot! Food and drink prices reasonable and service a++. A must visit in Florida

Pretty far drive dr from MI. Looks like it might be fun on a day to hang but for dinner...much left to be desired. Entrees were very expensive and not great. I got the grouper with crab. Grouper was good but the crab was uneatable. It certainly was not the crab meat I expected - it was minced and could have been anything - so fishy. All for $30 bucks? Way over priced. Not returning.

For atmosphere a 5 star, food a 1 star. Out of 4 meals only one was edible. The surf and turf. Which had a generous portion steak cooked to request. The lobster was fresh Ok now for the negative. The grouper was smothered in a sauce to hide the actual meal-yes there is a reason for that. 2nd meal butterflied fried shrimp, it was comical how much breading and how little shrimp there was actually. If you like shrimp DO NOT order the fried shrimp. 3rd meal of hot peel and eat shrimp- I guess I am spoiled with the shrimp from the ice house, this shrimp was microwaved to be warm and tasted like it had sat cold water for days. It was actually mush in the shell. My recommendation-go for a beer in a bottle, enjoy the atmosphere, but eat BEFORE you go.

We made reservations and when we got there there were only 6 others in the restaurant. We were seated outside. The faded plastic chairs and tables should have been trashed years ago. The biggest negative was the waitress came to us and said, we don't have snapper, mahi mahi or grouper. We asked for our bill for the drinks and left.
