Description: Located near Ward's Supermarket, Sugar Creek is a simple traditional looking diner with a few interesting animal paintings on the wall. Food & Service: I came here with a friend to catch up over brunch. The place was reasonably busy with locals getting their late morning fix. I ordered the ultimate skillet as suggested by other yelpers while my friend ordered an omelette that also came with a pancake. Overall, my meal was pretty satisfying. The egg on top was cooked well and there was a lot of protein and veggies to go along with it. Nothing wowed me about the dish but it was definitely filling. A tad salty but nothing overwhelming. The biscuit on the side was baked well but the gravy was a bit heavy for me. Our server was very kind and checked up in us several times. Food came out quickly and our waters were refilled often. No complaints at all! Final Thoughts: It was my first time at Sugar Creek and it probably won't be my last. It's not the best breakfast/brunch option in Gainesville but worth going to cure that morning hangover or catch up with a buddy.

I had the sugar creek omelet and my husband had the triple decker club and it was a lot of food, especially for the price. The omelet was one of the best I've had in a long time, loaded with fresh ingredients. I also got homefries with sausage gravy and the homefries were cooked perfectly (not dry or over cooked) and the sausage gravy tasted a lil smokey which I love. My husband sandwich was giant and his French fries looked freshly cut (not frozen!) and he had a good size pile with fresh cole slaw he said was great (I'm not a fan of coleslaw) The diner itself is pretty basic diner setup and the staff is extremely friendly. I'll definitely come back.

A breakfast spot in gainesville, went here on a Saturday morning. They were pretty busy, and the wait was about 15 mins. We got a seat at the bar, and were tended to promptly. Overall the food was average. I had asked for eggs over medium and basically got a fried egg with a solid yolk. Fried ordered the NY strip steak, and although well seasoned, the portion was so tiny! I had to get my own napkins and creamer. Seemed like all the staff in general were pretty flustered. Prices were appropriate. Come here if you want some no basic breakfast food, can handle average service, and don't care for environment

Sugar Creek is a favorite lunch stop for me. Great breakfast served all day by an attentive and friendly staff. The ultimate skillet is my favorite. It is a mix of breakfast meats and veggies served piled high and sizzling.

Went there for breakfast, the fruit they used was definitely canned or frozen. The muffins tastes like they were bought at a store (I wish it had been publix) and the roasted potatoes/veggie were dry. I would not go there again.

So far I've been two times and I'm hooked, it's sort of like crack. First time I got the chicken pinni, and this second time around I got chicken omelet. The omelette was so good, and it came with pancakes just as large as the omelette. But I don't think it matters what you get, because whatever it is you can bet your butt it's going to be good.

The breakfast menu is pretty basic (eggs, potatoes, pancakes, bacon), but everything is always well cooked and the portions are huge. The service is always friendly, though they aren't the most attentive with drink refills and such, even when they're not busy. My favorite breakfast foods are things like eggs benedict, "fancy" french toast, and smoked salmon with a bagel and cream cheese (i.e. stuff I don't make at home), none of which they have here, but they do what they do very well. Please get some real orange juice, though. The stuff out of the Minute Maid machine is no bueno!

Brothers day out. Came to Gainesville with two brothers. I live near by, so I am around Gainesville often. Looking for some place we haven't been to eat breakfast. Read reviews & decided to try Sugar Creek. Glad we did! We all got the daily special: smoked sausage, eggs, grits or homefries, & toast. Kind of mixed it up with eggs different ways & homefries versus grits. Everyone was pleased, food was great and plentiful. Service was awesome. Hope to visit again soon!

I went to Sugarcreek with some coworkers for lunch today. I got the burger. It was big and juicy, and they grilled the bun which is a plus. The fries are hand cut and delicious. Even the cole slaw was really good. One of my coworkers let me try an onion ring and it was really good. It's most likely made in house and not bought frozen. They serve breakfast all day as well. I'll be back for breakfast on Saturday.

We've been here a number of times for breakfast. They offer your basic diner-style breakfast options. Very large portions. Everything has always been cooked as requested. Nothing fancy but everything is always good. When they first opened they had terrible coffee, but they seem to have taken care of that issue now. The servers are always friendly and helpful. Sometimes a little slow with refills-- especially when the place is full.

Great experience. Older establishment that seems to cater to local crowd. Food was awesome, fresh, plentiful and very tasty and affordable. 3 of us shared the Ultimate Skillet - scrumptious; the Feta/Spinich Omelette - delicious and had the blueberry pancakes and chocolate chip pancakes - both were loaded, fluffy and sooooo good.

Really good for what it is with a long menu and inexpensive. Good stuff. I still miss furpo's though

Went for breakfast on a Saturday. It was packed, waited briefly by the friendly staff. Food came out quickly and all it it was hot and delicious. Very good quality. Will definitely go back!

Terrible breakfast. Food tasted old and rancid. Floors were filthy and service is slow. This place will be out of business soon.

Best pancakes I've ever had but it doesn't even stop there. It is a family styled and welcoming environment. The portions are large and it's worth the trip. Absolutely the best breakfast I've had and amazing lunch options. If you're in Gainesville you must go here.

I was referred to Sugar Creek by co-workers. I was greeted right away and felt very welcome. The owner Jeremiah came out and introduced himself. The food was great and the portions were BIG. I can not wait to take my wife and kids. All the guys here at Gainesville Nissan love Sugar Creek!

Came in saturday afternoon around 1230. Sat down at a booth almost immediately. Waited about 15 min and no one ever came to our table. They were not overly busy and had waiters standing behind the counter chatting. Thats when we started to look around the resturant. The floor was absolutely disgusting. And not "we were busy today" disgusting. There was what looked like days or even weeks of grime built up in the corners. I can only imagine what the kitchen looked like if that is how the face of their business looks. After talking some friends we came to find out that place has had tons of health code violations. Which is no suprise. I wouldn't eat here if it was the only place to get food left in the world.

If you are a fussy about your eggs go to the fruit and pancakes... I really cannot eat eggs with what I call Brown lace..

We eat here almost every Monday and Wednesday mornings, consistently excellent food and the portions are enormous. A few of my friends and I have a loosely knit (very loosely knit) breakfast group and over the years have eaten in almost every breakfast place in the Gainesville area, we think this is the best food and by far the best value. Absolutely nothing fancy, hey it's a diner, but is exactly what I want when I go out for breakfast, great food, outstanding value and a friendly staff.

Good food and very reasonable price. ONLY downfall is the wait times can be long. Great breakfast and lunch menu but they close at 2pm.

Came here for Father's Day brunch with my husband. It was just the two of us so we opted to sit at the bar. The place was busy but we were neglected and took about 10 minutes to even get a menu. The order came out slow. I ordered a half order of biscuits and gravy and a side of home fries. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles special. I was not impressed at all. The gravy and home fries were very bland and had very little seasoning. The gravy had almost no sausage and tasted like thick salted milk. There was not enough hot sauce in the world 2 make it flavorful. The home fries were not crispy but a little mushy. I've had better home fries from a package. The waffles were not too bad. They came out crispy on the outside and nice and fluffy on the inside. It also came with some sort mixed berry syrup that was pretty tasty. The fried chicken was a complete disappointment. They were more like chicken sticks with an Italian seasoned bread crumb coating. I was expecting more of a buttermilk coating and large pieces of chicken as opposed to chicken tenders. You seem to notice a little more when you're sitting at the bar. I noticed one of the employees use the same rag that they used to wipe the table down wipe the pancake syrup bottle after refilling it. It was Father's Day and it was a little busy so I plan to give them one more chance and I will try the skillet meal or omelets next time.

Plain ole breakfast and ok service. Was not happy that it looked old and outdated with a broken a/c. Too uncomfortable for me. Wish there was something different about it, but not really.

This place is the typical "greasy spoon". Regular breakfast offerings, but nothing to write home about. It is in desperate need of a remodel and the initial impression is that it needs a good scrubbing with bleach. Service was slow, so when I consider all of the issues together I will not be returning.

The staff here are friendly and professional, along with amazing breakfast and or lunch meals. No matter what you order, the food here is awesome. Everything is cooked from scratch made to order. It's worth the drive.

Love their food. Although I think the service can be better. But I go there to eat. You don't have to be my friend. I think they need new dishes, instead of serving me orange juice out of a cup that looks like milk dried on it. Other than that, food great. I can't complain. Bathroom is clean. Over all great place.

Best BLT (its double decker) in town hands down. SO MUCH BACON! the rest of their food is just OK.

This is one of the coolest breakfast/brunch/lunch joints I've ever been to. It's like Cheers, "where everybody knows your name." The waitresses were fascinating characters from a completely different culture than my own. I was absolutely mesmerized by what I saw. Un-freaking-believable!!!! I thought they were awesome, I'd totally hire the waitress that served my table. The food was pretty good and definitely cheap for all the food we got. This place is stellar, I'd totally come back!

Gave three stars mainly for the quick friendly attentive staff. The venue is casual but loud and the food was so so. Great fluffy dense pancakes, but the omelet was much more egg than any of the other ingredients with a somewhat unattractive appearance. I'd certainly recommend and would come back another time.

5 stars! Great food, very attentive staff and awesome service! Recommended highly! Had a great chat with the owner Jeremiah, great guy who knows how cook.

I was lured by the always full parking lot and mom & pop style building, but was sorely disappointed with breakfast. I had a custom omelet with spinach and feta...the omelet was oversized and lacked seasoning or flavor. My fiance got an omelet also and even with meat inside, it lacked flavor. The grits were generic and tasteless. Disappointing breakfast experience, but if flavor isn't what you're going for and you'd rather a breakfast dish that offers just plenty of portion size, then this is your place. The service was standard and our server was particularly nice, although rushed with the large breakfast crowd. They were busy with elderly people, families, couples, etc. Cheap spot albeit cheap quality food too. Better options in town, in my opinion.

Nice breakfast spot with good food and pretty good service. The place is small and loud but our wait was short and the food was all delicious and came out quickly enough. Unlike another reviewer, my wife and I both thought the home fries were delicious and seasoned well. I had the smoked sausage, scrambled eggs, home fries, and a biscuit and sausage gravy. It was all good and my only minor complaint would be that the eggs were somewhat average. One tip is to check out the specials board. There are some really good deals there if you see something you like.

I had lunch here at a friends urging and I'm glad we went! Like others have mentioned the portions are generous and the food is basic fare, but cooked to perfection. I actually got a hamburger cooked the way I ordered it instead of the way they wanted me to have it! The skillet breakfast could almost feed three people. A very good value and the food was fresh.

Came here for breakfast. Food was basic--but still good!. There were no fancy items like eggs Benedict. I had the ultimate omelette and it was absolutely delectable. The coffee is alright. The portions were great for the price. But our waitress was SUPER attentive and nice. I will definitely come again to try their sweet potato waffle fries. :)

This place has potential to be much better. The interior is about 20 years past due for a makeover. The food was hit or miss. Contents of my Philly cheese steak were excellent. The bun - not so much. Onion rings were overcooked and bland. Wife's omelet was good, but pancakes weren't great. Service was relatively friendly and quick. A couple coats of paint, some upholstery and more consistent food and I'd gladly give it another try.

Kids and adults really enjoyed eating here. If you're after something fancy you are in the wrong place. If you want hot, fresh food expertly made without a lot of to-do then this is the right spot. Kelvin took great care of us and never had to be asked twice for anything. We ate well and took leftovers for about the same as we would have spent at a fast food joint and certainly had tastier fare.

Sugar creek is an excellent place to stop in for breakfast, southwestern omelet is fantastic and fairly priced for such a big meal. Open early which is a huge plus, service is friendly and the food is great. Highly recommended!

For Gainesville and for what it is, this is the best of the best for breakfast and a good, affordable, and fast lunch. I'm not going to take off stars for what it isn't. Oh no, no salmon at a small breakfast joint? Woe is me! Bad coffee? How will I ever survive on juice or water!?!? Maybe I should be a nitpicky pain in the ass and take off a star because they don't serve beer.....but I digress Regardless of what you get, the portions are generous, prices very fair, everything is always delicious, and I've had nothing but courteous and quick service. My favorite breakfast meal is the Ultimate skillet (sauteed ham, sausage, bacon, onions, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, potatoes, 2 eggs and topped with cheese, with big slices of texas toast). It made 2 good meals for breakfast at work for $8. The philly cheesesteak, imo, the best philly in Gainesville and it's not even close. A lot of prime rib, sauteed onion, peppers, and mushrooms stuffed into an 8" hoagie. And finally, someone does the onions and peppers right. Not half-sauteed or crunchy at all, perfectly sauteed. The nice pile of hand-cut fries are good and the larger than usual side of cole slaw was thick and creamy with a nice touch of pepper. An awesome lunch for $8, especially since I've very picky about my philly. Go there and support this small business so they don't suffer the fate as so many small operations do. I don't have the luxury of a lot of good eats working on the east side!

We've been to this little diner-style restaurant several times, mostly for breakfast, but once or twice for lunch. The food is nothing fancy, but it's great, every time, and they give you a mountain of it, so you'll certainly wind up taking some home and having another meal later. The servers are always sweet, occasionally a little slow, but it's worth it. My only complaint is that for a restaurant that does such a great breakfast, the coffee is absolutely TERRIBLE. And not sometimes. It's ALWAYS awful. I don't know if it's just cheap, lousy coffee, or if it's OLD coffee long past its shelf life. Perhaps it's cheap, lousy, AND old coffee. You could brew old coffee grounds swept off a gas station floor and it would probably taste better. Whatever the case, Sugar Creek's coffee is definitely not good. If they served decent coffee, breakfast there would be perfect. Pretty please, Sugar Creek? Fix your coffee situation, so I can give you five stars!
