Stopped in for happy hour and a late lunch kind of thing. The menu is impressive for a sports bar. Couldn't decide so I got a chilli dog and home made chips. The server was polite, friendly, and efficient. The chilli dog was huge, and the homemade chips were actually some of the best I have had in a long time. I will also say that the amount of food is so much you may not be able to eat it all. All in all this was a pleasant experience, and will be back.

I'm giving a 3 star review because of the food; the service was just... alright. We were seated immediately upon entering however there were no booths taken at the time we came in yet the hostess set us at the only dirty booth in the place. It really chaps my buns to have to sit at a wet table when there are several other tables right beside it that are dry and clean. That said the waitress was very friendly and nice and attentive, even after the place got to hopping and she was really busy. We decided to order the frozen strawberry margarita and a mojito. Both came quickly and were good although they didn't seem to have much alcohol. We decided to order three items and just share so we asked for extra plates between the two of us she brought one plate. However when we asked for a second plate she quickly retrieved it and brought it back. We ordered the jerk chicken kebabs, the margherita flatbread, and an order of fish and chips. The chicken was spiced well came out hot and on a bed of rice with a nice sauce, which was neither too spicy nor hot but did have a zing. It was served on yellow rice with marinade/sauce, Which had an unfamiliar aftertaste. The Margherita Flatbread was amazing! It was nice and crisp with generous portions of mozzarella basil and fresh tomato. The fish and chips were a generous portion of hot crispy lightly battered tilapia as well as seasoned fries that didn't even need catsup. The prices on our food was fair ... approximately eight dollars per dish for the portion you received was a little high... And the drinks were $12 but they charge 50¢ for a frozen drink. Not okay at that price point... and the waitress did not bother to tell us that the Happy hour special was for discounted drinks which brought mine down to $6.25 and my friend's margarita down to $6.25 because she got it frozen instead of on the rocks. Happy hour ends at seven so that one drink is all we had. At 7PM on Tuesdays they have trivia... Sounded like fun although the guy's microphone was quite a bit too loud... All in all I will give this place a 3 1/2 stars based on the atmosphere, the food and the food price not being too terribly outrageous for the really good quality. Would give 4 1/2 stars if the drinks were better priced and had a touch more alcohol. All in all I will be back for the food probably not the drinks.

Went to Chomps last night with friends. Guinness was flat. We ordered wings and requested only flaps and they brought only drums. Sent the order back and it came out of the kitchen half and half and none of them were fully cooked. Walked out (one of the very few times I have done that). Complained to the Manager and she offered a gift card but we declined as we will not be back. I got the feeling that we were certainly not the first one to complain. I would not waste my time or money on Chomps with so many other good sports bars in Gainesville.

We called ahead to make sure the air conditioning is fixed it's supposedly was but I still think there's issues with it was hot and muggy over in the booth seating area college kids with obviously no service training greeted us provided low-end customer and table service We sat down and provided the normal chomps menu I proceeded to order a hotdog for my three-year-old only to be told hotdogs are no longer being served and off the menu One would think they would put a sticker on the menu or print off new menus I ordered the meatball sub my wife ordered the mushroom soup and daughter ordered the beef tacos My wife's soup came out cold actually cold we sent it back only to I'm sure be microwaved heated up The meatballs on my sandwich were dry and tasteless Ran into the AV guy looking at their audio system we discussed the new owners that took over about one week ago and the previous owners and the issues there We really want to like this place as in the past it's been very good but that was years ago It's in a nice location as with any restaurant They need to concentrate on service and food quality Plus also keeping the patrons cool and comfortable Taking them down to two stars right now based upon this last experience will try them again hopefully the new ownership will improve things in the weeks to come Until new ownership works out the kinks we really cannot recommend this place

Cons: Food is pretty terrible and low quality. Waitresses take forever a majority of the time. There always seems to be someone hogging the jukebox and playing terrible music. Pros: From a decorative standpoint it's a nice little bar and grill with potential. They have plenty of TVs and a couple pool tables. However unless the quality of food improves tremendously I would stay far away from it.

Gauging from some of the other reviews, along with my experience(s) here it seems apparent that Chomps just can't seem to get out of its own way when it comes to food/kitchen/service. The consensus is that this is a decent place to meet friends and get a drink, but to stay away from the food menu. I agree with the consensus. A few weeks ago, we were trying to find a late night eatery to grab a bite while leaving an event on this side of town. I yelped out loud from the passenger seat to find a suitable venue, only to discover that Chomps was about the only hope at this late hour to chow and have a draft or two. The bartender was mostly apathetic and disinterested in our arrival/presence. No big deal, in that as a twosome we had each other to keep us company. Ordered the pork burrito to split, and after an inordinate amount of time it was presented to us at the bar with about as much enthusiasm as the bartender could muster...meaning, he asked if "there was anything else" he could get us. C'mon dude, by definition a bartender is supposed to have at least SOME personality! (oh, as an aside, I would be remiss in not mentioning that what first got us coming in to this place repetitively at happy hour was the petite blond bartender named Cathy...I don't know if she still works here or not, but she was BOTH skilled AND engaging in her craft). Ok, so the burrito arrives, and I will say that the presentation was admirable on the plate, and the size of the thing was surprising in that they didn't skimp at all. I carved off the first bite, and suppressed my reaction to it while I waited for my date to take her first bite in order to see her reaction. When it hit her palate I looked her straight in the eye, and the two of us broke out in unmitigated laughter! This dish was so incredibly salty that it actually burned your tongue. I'm serious. I'm talking blood pressure spike city. There was no WAY a reasonable person could eat this thing without serious adverse effect. So I tell the bartender it's inedible (date vigorously nodding head), and he seems really offended and put out by our uncooperative stance on the matter, doesn't ask us if we want a re-do (which we didn't), and I watch as he brings the plate over to the manager on duty, who samples it, summons the cook from the kitchen, and has a few words with him. Incredibly, the manager does not come over with an apology, or excuse, or even acknowledgement of the mis-step. I'm guessing maybe his tongue was burning from the sodium to the point of being unable to speak. So that's it. I have read in at least one other review a similar complaint regarding sodium overload here. Seems like an easy enough issue to rectify. You know, chef 101...easy on the salt. We can always add more at the table if we need it, right? The bigger problem, however, is the lack of customer relations skills at this establishment, from the staff on up to management. Thats an issue that won't be fixed by hiding the salt shaker from the cook.

This place was touted as a great little sports bar, but failed to live up to the reputation. I ordered the generous portion of fish and chips, with fries, I got a meager portion at best, and got dried out over cooked chips, not fries. there were 5 in our party and only 3 other people in here, and the service was horrible, beer was warm and took a long time to get anything. I don't know what was going on; but they dropped the ball for sure. This place has been 3 different restaurants in the past few years and maybe another change is coming, do not see how they could stay open with the service and value we experienced!

This is my second visit to chomps. I had a buffalo chicken salad and my wife at the volcano shrimp tacos. The place is loud noisy and it's a great sports bar but it's not good food. The service was good. However, on a Saturday night being 7 o'clock the place was completely dead given this time of the year that's probably normal. So the service should've been above average since it was no one else in there. If you're into drinking a lot of beer and booze and playing a few games of pool and watching a lot of Sports on TVs and this is the place for you it's reminds me of gator dockside. Obnoxiously loud and okay food. I almost feel like giving it a two star because my chicken was overcooked and tough. The menu prices on the beer and drinks are reasonable specially since they have happy hour from 2 to 7 every day. The prices for their stakes are a bit on the high side like $20 for a ribeye steak. I mean it's not a terrible place but if you're looking for good food this is not the place to go to if you're looking for place to be loud and I'm noxious and yell for your favorite team and have a few beers then maybe this is the place for you. I asked the server who the owner was and she thought the owner may be the same guy that owns ballyhoos.

Service was lacking and food was just okay. I met my family here for pre-game meal and arrived late, but lucky they saved me some appetizers. I had to ask three different people to bring me a water and it still resulted in nothing. The flat bed pizza was really good and the two wings my family left for me were decent. I had gator bites as my meal which were drizzled with a sauce and was pretty happy with the taste. Then to finish things off my mother ordered the key lime pie and it was disgusting. They were apologized and we sent it back. Overall this place is no thrills, but as unresponsive as the staff was they were friendly and good televisions to view games.
(3)Rachael S.
Well we tried you again today. Terrible the food never tastes the same from visit to visit. Whatever you do stay away from the nachos! The staff was rude when we asked were there adequate staff for the restaurant. Yeah been here before and you left 1 person on a Friday night that's why I ask. The response should tell you something about the restaurant well we only have 4 tables so... you only had 4 tables because the food is not good, the service is never consistent and your staff is rude. This place has the potential to be great but they keep failing.
(1)Coleen T.
Yummy wings and fries for pick up. I got the sauce on the side... It wasn't spectacular but the chicken was fried perfectly- a lil crisp and very juicy. This place is so convenient for me... I should really come here more often!!
(4)James L.
Food is decent but overpriced. Better than average sports bar, but not as good as price would suggest. Waitstaff was friendly when I went, but food took a really long time to get to us. An explanation for the wait would have been nice. I definitely prefer Dockside over chomps.

I know why I haven't been here in over a year. Poor service and lacklustre food. I had heard a few radio ads and thought Id give them another chance The place had about 15 customers when we arrived on the early side of lunch hour. Our waiter was quick and friendly to greet our party. We had a seat and promptly had our drinks and our orders were taken. The decor inside is standard sports bar. TV's adorn the place with various sports being played. Theres all sorts of UF memorabilia hanging on the walls in between the neon beer signage. There are booths, high, and low top tables throughout the bar. A half an hour went by. We realize our waiter has disappeared. Drink glasses now empty, our conversation has turned to when do we think our food will be come out and will we ever get a refill? After 40 minutes our waiter has returned to the scene. They are attentive to everyone elses table except for ours. Did one of us not shower? Got that look of an axe murderer? Can we at least get some eye contact over here? After 50 minutes we were sheepishly served two of the fish and chip baskets that were ordered. Both were cooked more brown than golden. The fish portion was also small. Both from my lunch party reported the fish was sort of wet and undercooked on the inside. Similar to not being thawed out properly prior to deep frying. My order didn't arrive with the rest of the lunch order. The waiter said my order was "up next". Really? I would hope so by now. I could have made the dough by scratch myself. We have been in the place for well over an hour. My lunch partners were almost finished with their fish baskets and I finally received my margherita flatbread pizza. A premade flatbread with a few dollops of soft mozzarella, basil, chopped tomatoes, melted on a cookie sheet in an over for less than 10 minutes. This bland and poorly thrown together creation was hardly worth the wait. Chomps is probably a good place to come visit when you have plenty of time to kill and want to watch a sports game with friends at a bar. Its hard to mess up a beer that someone else has put in a bottle or keg and all you have to do is chill it and serve it. They must be able to do this correctly or else their doors would be closed. This is my second less than desirable experience here. When we were here about a year and a half ago we had the same issues. I surely won't be stopping in here for lunch again during work hours.

There is nothing new and interesting about Chomp's. But I don't want to be nitpicky since the servers are now a little more covered up when than when they first opened. No, what really rates the 2 stars, and I think I'm being generous, is the overall bleh of the whole experience. The food isn't all that good. The servers are incredibly slow. The high tops are wiggly and off kilter. The booths are too tight. Go here if you are looking to get drunk. Go ahead, that's what this kind of place is for. You're too drunk to notice that it took 30+ minutes for your food to come out tasting meh. Meanwhile, you will be sweating off all the alcohol because the managers refuse to turn the air conditioning on. Now that I think about it maybe that's why the servers dressed like Hooter's Girls. The last time, and I mean the LAST TIME, we went it smelled as if the frier died with all the food in it. I left smelling like I had taken a bath in the frier. This isn't the place where the hip college kids are hanging out. This is where the middle aged come to get drunk. Which is TOTALLY okay if that's how you roll. Roll on, bud, roll on to Northwest Grille next door. Or David's BBQ. Your choice.

I keep trying to like this place but time and time again it fails in so many ways. It always starts with the wait staff. They are so darn slow and inattentive. Our appetizers, the boneless wing melt and garlic wings, were both overcooked and yet cool to the touch. Bones on the wings were showing. The flavors were good but the chicken too dry. I ordered the prime rib sandwich. Really nice flavor but I uncomfortably crunched into two quarter inch bones while eating it. My friends ordered the ribeye steak. One was cooked perfectly, the other way undercooked for what she asked. We were there for (un) happy hour and beers were $1 off drafts. I was surprised when I got my bill and the fat tire draft beer cost $4.75 (after the $1 off) a glass. That seemed pricey for a glass of beer in the town of Gainesville to me. I go to Chomps every few months in the hopes that it will get better. I can't help but think that if they ever got a manager who would actually train the wait staff that this place would improve tremendously. But time and time again it turns out to be the same. Wait staff takes forever to greet you after being sat, too much time to get drinks, not fast enough to bring food out, and not checking back often enough. There certainly are enough of them working there. They just seem so disorganized. See you again in three months. Let's hope it's better then.

I save one star for the really shitty places just like a save the fifth star for stellar places. Went in of happy hour and it was clean and quiet the toilet was clean and "holy shit had a TV at the urial" They had a good selection oh beers and even have a glass rinse to wash the sanitizer out of the glass just prior to serving. That's where it goes down hill and fast, the manager was double dipping her was the bar tender and the manager and also taking the phone orders. He could not keep up. The man next to me ordered a quesadilla and after one hour it still was not out. I was hiding from work and wanting a beer so I was good I am also a little loud so I. Can get a beer and that was why I was there. I wanted to fill my belly with a small something and ordered the ' Grouper Tortia" soup. Holy WFT, now let me share this have been in the US navy I have had the worst food in the world. This soup was the Saltiest thing ever I mean EVER, salt is not this salty. Furthermore it took like 15 min to get it. It was the first time I literally chocked on food I did not want to complain but it needed to go back and be tossed. The manager offered a Chili and I accepted could have been 'Hormel' from a can to thing to write about. Okay, the bottom line...... I will not go out of my way to come her, I would not bring a date here, but if one my own I would come to have a cold beer. UP DATE I have been meaning to up date this review but was locked out of the edit mode for a few days and just got busy. Maybe 15 min after posting the review I was finishing my beer when one of the 'managing partners' came in and asked me about the review. Appears to have a notification when a review comes in. He was polite and genuinely wanted to know what Chomps could do to be better. He apologized for the soup and he even agreed the chili could be better he even made a new batch and gave me a try. He explained to me that all the food is fresh made no precooked item so that takes a little time. My response is to get the word out on that have the staff tell the patron and then follow up with a appetizer or some bread. One other big help would be to get rid of the cell phones, the staff was constantly looking and sharing stuff on the phones, it was a distraction not needed. Remember, we are paying. The staff is working and if the food is not going to set you apart then the service need to spot on! The new batch of chili was spot on and a noticeable improvement. I will be going back...

First, let me say that I do not come here for big games or for trivia night. I usually only come on a lunch break or for a random weeknight dinner. In my experiences here, I have never had a bad meal and I've had a lot of things on this menu. I have on occasion experienced a little slow service but that never bothers me if the food is good and arrives hot. Everyone is friendly and seems to be trying their best. In general, the wings and burgers are great, the buffalo chicken sliders are outstanding, and their lunch specials are usually a lot of food and dirt cheap ($6 including drink). One other thing I appreciate about this place is their awesome french fries. They are perfect. Some places cut their fries too thin (5 guys) so it's impossible to cook them correctly. You either get a wimpy soggy mess that falls apart when you pick it up OR they are burnt to a crisp. Some other places have sold out to this weird, fake french fry thing that has this gross outside texture that's like a french fry and a cheese puff had a baby (ale house, burger king, Joe's place RIP). This place cuts their fries perfectly to about 3/8" x 3/8" so you get a crisp outside and soft inside consistently. The snow crab and shrimp have always been fresh for me as well as the steaks. I am happy to see them bring some new stuff to the menu that reminds me of Ballyhoo of ~8 years ago before they deleted the BEST things off their menu. Now if we can just get them to add on their long lost Ballyhoo greek salad this place will pretty much have it all.

We're new to the neighborhood and thought we would try a nearby sports bar. It's New Years Day and they were understaffed and underprepared for the crowd. Here's how it went down: - drinks took 10 minutes to arrive. They were out of cider but the bartender came over to provide options. - app took 20 minutes more. Oysters Rockefeller had shell throughout. Crunchy. - took another 10 min to order dinner - adult burger came out the right temp but was in crumbled into pieces. Hard to eat. - kid burger was good - they were out of wings. So we ordered boneless wings. They came out cold. Our waitress took them right back. They were microwaved and returned. Gross. They did take them off our check. - pasta entree did not come out till everyone else was finished. Was advertised as creamy tomato sauce. Instead was watery And bland. - drinks were empty and when we reordered happy hour was over (there's a big surprise. We missed it by 5 min.) - total check was $69. We had two drinks each. So take off the chicken not wings for $9 and $14 for drinks and we still paid $56 for crap. - the manager was "cooking" and was unavailable to speak to us. At any point in our experience had someone come over and tried to make things better it might have redeemed the experience. Will not return. Just ordered pizza.

I wasn't expecting much, but we were pleasantly surprised by Chomps. They have the absolute best prime rib sandwich I have ever had, thick and cooked perfectly. My fiancé loves their chili burger. And, if you haven't tried the chomp fries, I recommend you do, what a treat! They are like mini fried potato skins, so yummy. We have been there many times for lunch and dinner and always receive outstanding service. This is definitely one of our new favorites.
(4)Claire N.
Food is very tasty, similar menu to ballyhoo grill as the owners are the same. Remodel looks nice. A bar that's not smoking and not dirty and divey. Food is great and prices in the range of nicer pub food (not super cheap, but securely not unreasonable considering the taste and quality), service speed is hit or miss, but never unreasonably slow. I always order take out and am never disappointed. Prime rib sandwich, volcano shrimp, burgers, club, ask very tasty staples. They also have good ranch which is definitely a plus. Locally owned. It's also one of the only restaurants with quality food in the nw area, unless you want to go all the way to tioga (and pay more) or eat at nw grill, which has gone downhill recently. I like chomps. Glad to see a place like this in this area.
(4)Bobbi S.
Unfortunately we checked in and had to check out within ten minutes. We could see the kitchen directly from our seat. My husband commented on the size of a salad that had just come up to the window (it was huge) then a server came into kitchen from dinning room, reached into a bowl of what we think was bacon, and sprinkled it on the salad. The problem, no gloves or washing hands prior to reaching in. Then she proceeded to wipe her hands on her shorts and another server carried the salad to some unsuspecting diner. This was our first time trying Chomps, but we won't stay and we won't be back.
(1)Erin W.
Great Food/ SLOW service. Looks like their is never enough wait staff. Besides that it takes forever to get your order, even if it's a salad :(
(3)Alayna D.
Chomps is a sports bar that isn't divey, is brand new/clean, on a good side of town, and provides great food while still having the 'bar' feel with TVs, decent food prices, and a good size bar. We dined here Friday night and were pleasantly impressed to see how busy the new-ish place was with a wide variety of patrons. Older couples, families, young professionals, etc all seem to occupy the place. When we first got there, we were greeted by the friendly hostess and seated quickly without a wait. It took a few minutes longer to have our server come to our table to take our drink orders, though. Given we ordered a beer and a glass of wine, the drinks took longer to come out than I think they should have the first round, but didn't have a problem the next round. We did enjoy the greatly priced happy hour prices - $3 house wine and draft specials. We ordered and shared the blue cheese chips ($7.50) appetizer. Plenty to share with probably 4 people. Great flavor in the blue cheese - you could tell it was good quality cheese - and drizzled with balsamic vinegar on top of homemade potato cut chips. It's presentation was as good as it tasted. We also shared the Southwest Chicken Sandwich with coleslaw ($9). The sandwich was good, although it didn't have the southwest 'kick' we thought it would for having chipotle sauce on it. I would have renamed it the chicken sandwich. The coleslaw tasted freshly made in house. We'd certainly return to Chomps and hope their business continues to flourish with patrons!

Finally, a dissent sports bar near the I-75 NW corridor. It use to be Panama Joe's, and I use to feel like I needed a shower right after I walked in the place and the crowd could get kind of sketchy late at night. Chomps has done a great remodel! Imagine a smaller Gators Dockside but with 2 pool tables and nice steaks on the menu. It's clean and the servers were nice and on top of their game. They do trivia at 10:00pm on Thursday nights. I think this is our new neighborhood go to spot! Update: We have been here twice since my last review. Whenever they have a band on the weekends, they set up right next to the pool tables, so you can not play once they get started. The Salmon pinwheels have WAY TOO much cream cheese in them, and since the salmon is already a rich fish, it is very overpowering. The Blue cheese potato chip appetizer is good, but as with anything made with chips, once you eat the few on top there is nothing left as far as toppings for the chips at the bottom. Is it that hard to toss everything together before you serve it?!? The other entrees are good, and the waitstaff is still attentive. I recently found out that the owner use to work at Ballyhoo, which explains the similarities in the food.
(4)Vanessa W.
My boyfriend and I went out and decided to try chomps and watch the game. The hostess sat us in the very back of the restaurant and sat down to roll silverware while we remained seated for 20 minutes without even a greeting from a server. We got walked passed, ignored and forgotten about. Needless to say we never even ordered a drink...horrible servers and horrible teamwork.
(1)Shir A.
Has potential to be THE best bar in Gainesville, still new but getting there ! Awesome food, drink specials, and tons of TVs!
(5)Damion W.
They did a great job remodeling this space. It's really nice. Went for a recent Gator game and was surprised it was so packed. The food is pretty solid overall.
(3)S S.
Do not waste your time or money unless you are going to drink only. The food is mediocre at best. We went at 6 pm on a Tuesday, waited 45 minutes for 2 sandwiches. I got a dried out chicken breast that had to have been cooked twice or sitting around. The waitress did offer to replace it but I had given up by then. The menu is large but if you cannot manage a grilled chicken sandwich, may be time to downsize. This was my second and last visit to this sports bar.
(1)David V.
Good place for lunch...The service was fast and the food was great! The menu also has a wide variety, from fish and steaks to salads and sandwiches. The staff are very friendly and accommodating to make it an all around nice experience!
(4)Wayne W.
Great sports bar. Clean. Food is pretty good with a good variety. Friendly staff. My new favorite spot for a cold one.
(5)Kristen L.
Wine glass filthy. Steak terribly cooked - sent back and pieces recooked to over cooked. Chicken noodle soup tasted burnt and chicken pieces like they had sat out for days. Waitress completely unable to know how to deal with a customer with improperly cooked food even though I only pushed the food to the side. So paid an awesome $14.00 for a baked potato. If you want to shoot pool drink beer and watch sports go here but eat somewhere else.
(2)Jorge U.
Wow. You can barely even pick out the few remaining vestiges of Panama Joes. Great job of remodeling the place. This definitely isn't a dive bar now. The interior is large, clean and very open. They have the standard sports bar menu. My burger was fine -- nothing spectacular. I asked about the sides and the waitress talked up the cole slaw. Too much mayo for me. But then I do tend to minimize the use of mayo. My wife's fries had a good flavor but were soggy and slightly undercooked. Service was mostly good. A little slow on the refills. They seem to have a shift change at 4 so I think there was a little too much focus on end of the shift activities. All in all I wasn't wowed but I'm willing to chalk it up to growing pains. I'm sure I'll give it another try before too long.
(3)Brian K.
I went in and experienced really bad service. While I was there, a beer was knocked over onto a pool table. The waitress then proceeded to rudely complain about us helping clean the spot where it was spilled. The manager then came over to apologize, but to our disappointment, we never got any kind of apology from the server for her behavior. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Bad service, bad food.
(1)Clifton M.
First time going to chomps, the place was clean and looked nice for a sports bar. But the service was extremely bad! And they were not busy at all! When we first sat down it took the waitress 8 minutes to come take our order for our appetizer ,beer and entree. After another 10 minutes another waitress brought our beers and then after another15 minutes another waitress brought our entree's . We Never received the appetizer and we were not asked if we wanted anything else to drink! The manager came over and did and apologize about the appetizer and said he would take off our bill but still send it out. When the appetizer finally arrived it was burned and not worth eating !!
(1)Crystal B.
We went after a gator game and the place was packed... But the food was delicious and we were able to be seated immediately even with a large party. The chomps fries were amazing! I had the sirloin salad and it was expertly prepared and the steak was actually medium how I ordered it. For a sports bar in a college town after a big game it was perfect. We will be back!
(5)Anna T.
I went a month or so ago and was very disappointed with the low quality of food and service. The remodel is nice but the tables and booths felt dirty. Not to mention the service was very slow. The servers were pleasant but that didn't change the fact that the food (nacho appetizer, chicken carbonara, side salads and soups) were terrible. I decided to give it another try today . Food was terrible, tables felt dirty but the service had improved. Great place for beer and socializing but save your money if you're hungry and go somewhere else.

This was better than I was expecting for this part of town. Pleasant music was playing that was appropriate for the crowd, including families with kids. I was just looking for wings and fries. Their prices are slightly higher than I was expecting. Still, good food in a good, clean bar atmosphere. Had more of a city feel to it than most bars out this way.

Went to Chomps tonight to watch a couple of bowl games. They had the games spread around on their many TV's and I was able to watch every game I wanted. Kat did a great job of keeping my drink full and everyone was friendly. I love a good bar that attracts good people!

I liked everything about this new, renovated restaurant except I wish they had more vegetarian/vegan options on the menu. Hopefully they will add some as they are open longer and develop their menu!

3.5 stars, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and give it the 4 until I'm compellted to update otherwise. They definitely did a nice job on the remodel. It's a comfortable atmosphere and a nice bar to hang out for a few beers. I wish they'd have a little better selection than your typical domestic beers and Swamphead. Yeah, I like supporting the local brewery, but every damn restaurant in Gainesville has them and other craft options would be nice. That's a side rant that has no impact on the rating. The service was good and the bartender was attentive, though it was a slow Sunday evening. It really comes down to the food. We stuck to the burgers/sandwiches, as late Sunday night wasn't the time I felt like trying a $20+ steak. Actually, I'm not sure a $20+ steak matches the atmosphere. Anyway, a reuben with only a choice of talapia or turkey and no corned beef is strange, but my stepson said the talapia was really good. I had some of my wife's chili burger and while tasty, left something to be desired. I picture chili burgers being messy and mounded with chili, this was more like a thick paste, just enough to give you the flavor (which seems cheap, imo). It was also a very beany chili, not much meat. The burger itself was good though. I had the shaved sirloin....a philly cheesesteak. Nice flavor, well sauteed onions and peppers. My compaint? It was too damn small. I liked the style of the fries, so no complaints there. All in all, while the flavors were good, some of the quantities are a little questionable for the price. I'll go back and try a couple more items though. At the very least, it may become another drinking spot for me, being so close to home.

Not a bad local bar. Been a few times, staff is very friendly, service is adequate, the food is not bad but not outstanding. It's a weird menu, not the place I'd go for a 26 dollar steak or seafood of any kind. Stick to draft beers, apps, and burgers. Avoid steaks, pastas and the like, it's just not that kind of place. The wings are hit or miss, been over cooked a couple times but when they cook em right they're pretty good.
