China Wok has the best take-out Chinese food on the west side of Gainesville. The Moo Gu Gai Pan is super tasty and so is the egg drop soup. The prices are reasonable too.

China Wok seems to be a step above most Chinese takeout places in Gainesville, though it's not all that different. The quality of the food, in my own experience, is higher and less greasy. The service is swell and quick and I love their lunch specials--you get an incredible amount of food for a very small price AND they still have the specials on Saturdays! I love the Pu Pu Platter as well. Try the lemon tea--it's simple but absolutely delightful. China Wok has become my go-to for American style Chinese food in Gainesville.

This is good New York Style Chinese. It always seems fresh and not oily. The meals are not over cooked or re-cooked. The cooks look relaxed and work efficiently which helps them keep their stations organized. It looks clean and every time I look back in the kitchen area. That is a big deal!!

Today was my first time ordering from this restaurant and I was somewhat skeptical about what to expect. Well, I was greatly impressed with the quality and freshness of the food. Service was fast and yet tasty, not greasy and a great amount too. So this is my new favorite restaurant from now on. I ordered Moo-Gai-Pan, Pork Fried Rice and Mongolian Beef.

Definitely my go-to take out restaurant. The service is fast and reliable, and the food is great. Their chili shrimp is da bomb.

No complaints here... moved to Gainesville from the Chicago area and gave this place a try as it's within walking distance from the house. I'm glad I went in spite of the 3 reviews on this page. For what it is... a counter service take out establishment... it was quite good! We had vegetable spring rolls. My wife had Moo Goo Gai Pan and I had broccoli with garlic sauce. Everything was prepared fresh and perfect. The vegetables were nice and crisp, not overcooked. Great job on the sauces. The chicken tender and moist. And not greasy at allEven the rice had a very nice flavor to it... not the usual starchy, sticky white rice that you normally get in this type of place. I will definitely be back soon to try some other dishes. The staff was friendly and courteous and the place was very clean.

This is the local walk-in Chinese take out joint we go to near us. Their food is pretty good. No greasy and tasty. When you go, you can ask for a 'fresh mustard' they make their own home made mustard they store it in the fridge in the front of the store. You have to ask for it..very spicy..mmm goood..or you'll have to use the normal packaged mustard. Try the Garlic Shrimp and Beef with Beans..and my favorite Kung Pow Chicken. For the price you can't go wrong. $6 get's you a dish of your choice, fried rice and an egg roll.

Here in The South- trying to find unique dishes at just your run-of-the mill take-out place is like trying to find a full set of teeth at a Square Dance. Often I will try to push the already angry cook to make certain dishes spicy, make exceptions, substitutions, or create items that are not even on their menu with existing ingredients. They were happy to make Beef and String Beans for me, and to actually make it spicy. At this location there is Beef Chow Fun shown in the photo, but not listed on the menu with a price. They also have a dish that I have not seen often called "Szechuan Wonton." Which was definitely NOT the chili and garlic infused oil covered, steamed wontons that I am used to getting in NYC. It is deep fried pork wontons covered in spicy red jello with some peas and carrots thrown in. If I did not get so sick from eating here, I would give it three stars. If I am brave, I may try again someday.

I want to begin by saying, I have had food here before and it at least seemed average. Today when I went though, I got General Tso's chicken and it was nasty. I am writing this review cause it was bad enough to make me hurl and I don't want anyone else to suffer. I have never hurled from Chinese let alone any food before. I will not be going back again.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
