First and foremost the staff was extremely friendly. Now more importantly the food was fantastic for the price. If you want a quick and delicious breakfast this is your place.

Homey little hole-in-the-wall in Thornebrook shopping center. I had craving for a pumernickle bagel, but couldn't decide on which cream cheese. The cashier let me taste a few, and I decided on the Veggie. It was a bit salty, but I figured it would balance well with the bagel. I also got a coffee, which was pretty weak, so I tried to spice it up with some cinnamon (didn't help much). The bagel was decent... not as good as others I've had (but that was up in NC). I will definitely return to try out some of the other menu items!!

I went to Bageland this past weekend - first time. Much to my liking, I really enjoyed it! Kind of looks like a hole in the wall, but the service was quick and the food was good. I ordered something basically unoriginal - bacon, egg, and cheese bagel. When my order came up, I was surprised to see lots of other goodies on my plate - including some DELICIOUS herb potatoes and fruit (Watermelon, cantaloupe, and orange slice). The bagel sandwich was also pretty tasty! Maybe I was super hungry or maybe it was just THAT good, but I really liked Bageland and hope to go back soon! And PS their coffee gets two thumbs up from me!

Bageland has been around for a long time and it's a shame that it no longer has a place around the University. It has always served up healthy, homemade food at a very reasonable price. The best part about Bageland is that they REALLY know how to make proper bagels.... none of this steamed, donutty like crap you get at Einsteins. These are like I used to get in NYC. They are the real thing. Breakfasts are standard fare but as long as a bagel comes with it... you can't go wrong.

What a great place, even though my GPS found it difficult to locate! On a day when the outside was best characterized by the word "deluge," inside Bageland all was yummy and friendly. People sitting in booths and at tables were obviously in no hurry to run out into the rain, so conversations continued well into the morning -- and once the line cleared out, there were always a few tables, so no one sensed that we needed to move on. As a first-timer, I found the menu a bit confusing, but Spouse had asked me to order for him -- which you do at the counter. I started off by asking for his old standby, a Western Omelet, and was befuddled when the counter person said, "what kind of bagel would you like?" Reading my stunned look, she quickly and kindly added, "It comes with the omelet." Operating from my best self, I equally quickly cancelled in my mind my own order and said "In that case, I'll have plain." "Butter or cream cheese?" "Cream cheese!" (Spouse being gluten free, I get his bread - and in this case it meant we had breakfast for two for the price of one. They give you a cup (styrofoam unfortunately) and you can drink as much tea or fountain beverage as your tummy can hold. In just a few minutes, out came a large omelet with potatoes and large pieces of not-very-tasty melon, and a huge bagel with, yes, tons of cream cheese. All for about $12 including drinks. The bagel was among the best I've had - I'd have bought a dozen right there if I had freezer space. Spouse did not fare quite so well - it's unusual to find tomato in a Western Omelet, and didn't seem like a great addition. I tried his home fried potatoes, and I'd suggest to Bageland that they cut back, indeed cut out, the oregano. The fruit - well, maybe it's not a great season, so I won't blame them for that. We had a great time chatting, watching the rain, and finally decided that our choice was either to be very wet or soaked, so ran to our car and headed home, tummies full and spirits happy. And of course, now the rain has diminished to a drizzle. There are lots of omelet choices, half a dozen kinds of bagels, numerous sandwich possibilities - and "Asian food" at lunch hour on Tuesday and Thursday. Trust me on this one, Bageland, we will definitely be back!

I had driven past Bageland for many years, just thinking that all they serve is bagels, by the name. Not knowing that the bagels were made in house, and that they are large pillowy rings from heaven. Not only is the base dough used the perfect texture and flavor, there are so many flavors offered. Even low calorie versions of both bagels and cream cheeses. My favorite is the spinach bagel with the artichoke cream cheese, yes please. Even during breakfast hours, my Mom swears by their lobster/crab bisque. Damn it is good at any time of day. They offer breakfast sandwiches and full breakfast plates, made fresh to order. There is plenty of seating inside, a bar by the front window, and some nice tables outside. Any place in the Thornbrook area of Gainesville is difficult to dislike. The entire vibe is awesome and full of families and edumatcated folk.

I'm really not sure why this place is rated so high, our dining experience was not that great. The place is older, dated and looked dirty. We had bagel sandwiches and they were just ok. The bagel selection was limited and they bagels had no taste. The staff started taking away the tea 30 min before closing. Also I hate when people start mopping/sweeping when people are still eating. We tried the place and really don't see us ever going back.

I heard that this was a long time staple for Gainesville. I usually go to the Bagel Bakery (which is Dynamite!). My wife and I thought we'd check out something different on Saturday at about 12:30pm. Too bad for us... The restaurant was dirty (floors, windows) also kind of messy looking decor. We ordered breakfast. I ordered the eggs over easy with a sun-dried tomato bagel (because the pickings were very slim). The potatoes that came with the dish were mushy and tasted like they'd been sitting out since the morning (not fresh at all) and were completely not enjoyable (I like cripy fresh cooked home fries - these were not). The eggs were cooked fine. The bagel was ok. There wasn't much flavor to it. I felt like I was cheating on my favorite bagel place. My wife's was much the same (she ordered ham egg and bagel sandwich). She did not finish her meal as she did not enjoy any of it. Definitely will not be going back....(sorry Bagel Bakery - we'll never do this again!)

Love my Hollander sandwich!!! Crispy apple slices made it the best. Although the location made this place kinda hard to be noticed, but I felt like discovering a treasure mountain when I looked at their menu. Prices were rational, and staff were super helpful. Definitely will return here to try out more of their sandwiches.

I've been eating here off and on over the last few years, sometimes on a weekly basis. I generally stick with a bagel and cream cheese, but sometimes will come in for the Vietnamese dishes on Tuesday and Thursday. I've tried a variety of their bagels, but they all taste rather plain to me. The only bagel that has a little more character is their everything bagel, but often times has a burnt flavor to it. The staff and owners are personable and provide quick service. If you're looking for a place to grab a quick bite for breakfast or lunch, you can get in and out of here in no time. Bageland is tucked away in Thornebrook Village across from the Atrium. I find the atmosphere of this bagel shop relaxing and welcoming. The architecture is a bit interesting, and the decor ranges from family photos to old art posters. While the decor is disjointed, it does provide a bit of warmth and personality to this location that I do enjoy. So to sum it up, good service, nice location, and fast & cheap okay food.

Daughter and I ate at here today just wanted to grab a bagel to go. It was quick and tasty, we even decided to stay and sit at table outside and enjoy some sunshine. Good place to go on the run or stay a while. My ham, egg and cheese bagel came with yummy home fries and fresh fruit for $5.50. And included coffee!

The bagels here are pretty good but doesn't live up to the hype of "best bagels in town". The atmosphere is a little weird here and feels like you are eating in someone's basement. Last time I ate here and the lady wheeled the trash out the front door in a shopping cart that made it a little weird. The breakfast plates do look pretty nice. They have a large fruit selection and give out decent portions. Overall, I would never go here over bagel bakery but it is a little less expensive.

You know, I've had to meet at Bageland many a time with my pharmacy preceptor, and though I have not *technically* eaten here, I feel like I should still review this place based on its local flavor. Bageland is located ALL the way in the back of Thornebrook Plaza. Close parking can be a bit scarce at times, but there is plenty of parking in general for the plaza so you can walk there quickly. The inside has booths and tables and is very chill. The menu looks amazing, but I've only ordered cinnamon raisin and plain bagel chips, soda and hot chocolate ($0.69, $1.50, $1). So affordable! And the chips are crazy good, especially cinnamon raisin. And bagels are only 80 cents. Seriously, you can't even buy a donut for that price nowadays! When I go here, I set up a laptop and go over things with my preceptor and have never been asked to move or leave because I wasn't chowing down on some eggs benedict (which would be considerably awkward to do in front of my preceptor). So basically I give this place 4 stars for being cool with people like me who need a place to meet up, for being affordable, and having a cool feel to it. One day, Bageland, I will patron you for a sandwich or two!

I love supporting local eateries with lots of character, and Bageland certainly fits the bill. The place has been open for many years in Gainesville, and has grown to be loved by the locals. I love the location in Thorebrook Village because it has high ceilings and offers surroundings a bit more unique than a strip-mall. My wife and I usually stroll through the perpetually deserted village area after a filling breakfast to try and walk some of that egg sandwich off! Like many locally owned restaurants, Bageland suffers from a few professionalism issues. The staff is not always homogeneously trained - sometimes you get a counter clerk that is friendly, and sometimes you get someone that's quite surly. The decorations in the store don't look like they have been replaced in over a decade. The plates that are used for dining-in appear to have been purchased from Walmart or a Dollar General instead of a proper food preparation wholesaler. All these small overlooked items leads to a novice atmosphere. Believe it or not, I have not had an opportunity to purchase a bagel from Bageland because the one time I tried to, on a Sunday at noon, they were out of Bagels. I was really surprised - how can a bagel store called Bageland not have bagels? Instead, I ordered an egg and ham sandwich on a crescent roll. It was too salty for my taste (possibly from the ham), and much too greasy. The herb potato's were also very greasy and had much too much herb applied to them. Of course, this is all probably the nature of a egg ham and crescent sandwhich, and may not be due to Bageland preparation. As a nice added surprise there was a delicious plate of fruit included with our meal, which was a very nice touch! The coffee is delicious, and very inexpensive - make sure to get yourself a cup! Thank you for not cheaping out on the coffee, Bageland! All-in-all, Bageland stands out as a mediocre place to grab a quick bite and a great cup of coffee. The food is probably on par with most fast-food places that serve breakfast. Prices are reasonable, and the location is unique. The food doesn't stand out, but Bageland does not pretend to be something it's not, and I think customers appreciate that. Plus they give back to the community, and support many local initiatives. (Thank you) Tip: Make sure to stop by during the Thornebrooke Art Festival held in October sometime !

We were looking for an inexpensive, casual, yummy place for breakfast and someone recommended this place. They told us that they accept cash only so we prepared cash but I forgot to check whether they accept other types of payments, too. Went there for breakfast. They had quite a variety in their menu and some specials. I had a ham & cheese bagel with a coffee which was about $5. It came with a side of tasty potatoes (with some kind of herbs and spices) and some fruit (strawberries, grapes, slice of orange and my friend instead of grapes got a piece of melon). The bagel (they offer a variety) tasted very fresh and was very tasty. I thought for $5 for everything, a bagel would just be a bagel but I was plesantly surprised. The coffee was good, too. The atmosphere was very casual. Small groups enjoying a leisurely breakfast, several people on their own enjoying breakfast and a newspaper. The store is clean and has an open feeling with tables inside and a couple outside, too. You place your order and pay at the counter then they bring you your bagel at your table. It's in Thornebrook Village and parking is convenient. Recommend this place for a good, healthy feeling breakfast.

This place has been my go-to breakfast for years. They have great bagels, sandwiches, and a $1 cup of coffee that is hard to beat. Cozy atmosphere and good prices make it an easy recommendation.

It's nothing fancy, but the bagels are fresh and tasty, the counter service is friendly, and they serve breakfast all day. Recommended for a good, quick & casual breakfast.

I love Bageland's bagels that I use to order them by the dozen and freeze them when I lived out of town. (Hint: the bagels freeze really well!) The staff is always friendly and on their toes. There's really nothing fancy in terms of menu items but everything I've had there has been good. The food is prepared fresh. My only complaint is that their hours are somewhat limited, breakfast and lunch only. I guess that's reasonable for a bagel place but just be warned if you go later in the day the selection may be limited.

Bageland is a bit hard to find, but once you find it you will keep coming back over and over. The service is great, best cup of coffee you can find and their fresh baked bagels always start my day on the right note.
