I can't believe I didn't know about this place when I went to UF. Now I have to settle for one or two visits a year when I go up to Gainesville for football games. 43rd just does breakfast right. The prices are reasonable and the dishes are always awesome. They have your basic breakfast stuff as well as some more adventurous dishes. I personally love their sausages. You can't go wrong with the cajun and chicken apple. If you're in the mood for something sweeter, my buddy swears by the banana French toast.

Three words: Cajun Chicken Sausage. It was the bomb. We went here for breakfast and we were pleasantly surprised and how quick and delicious our food was. My boyfriend got the banana stuffed french toast and he loved it. I got the 2 egg breakfast with the cajun chicken sausage and I was mind-blown. So friggin good. And even though our server was busy, she was very attentive and the rest of the staff went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. Always a good sign when the staff works as a team to make sure all of the guests are happy, not just the ones sitting in their section. Reasonable prices, delicious food, quick and good service, so we will definitely be coming back to this location to try the rest of their breakfast and lunch goodies.

A solid breakfast or brunch choice. This Gainesville gem will leave you full of delight coming back for more. The homestyle cooking feels like mom's Sunday brunch. The price is right and the wait staff is full of southern charm. Be sure to pass by and have some great beef hash and bacon crisped to perfection.

My wife and I stopped for a late breakfast on the way home from our Florida vacation. Easy off-on the interstate. The staff was friendly and provided very good service. The food was well above average. We will make this a regular stop on our trips to Florida.

Very good breakfast spot. All four people in our party had a hard time deciding what to get, the menu was so extensive and everything sounded delicious. We were all very happy with our food. Service seemed to be pretty good overall, even though our particular server seemed to be having an off day. We will definitely be back. UPDATE: Food was so good we came back the next morning with another couple. Food was still great and the service was exemplary. Thanks Rachel!

Food was ok, service was not good or friendly. I'm usually pretty easy going when reviewing places, but I can't figure out what the hype is about. I had the Greek isle omelette. It said it comes with tzatziki sauce and pita bread. Well I got neither. The omelette was nothing great. 3 stars. The potatoes were ok. 3 stars. The biscuit was pretty good. 4 stars. The service: 2 I will not be returning. I wasn't missing anything after all. And the nausea after I ate was not worth it either.

There are many other reviews so I'll be brief. $2 coffee is terrible, Benedict eggs are way overlooked, service is fast, portions are big, and it's a touch pricey. They have some room to improve and make it really eggcelent, but still worth a stop.

This is a pretty good place to eat breakfast. I haven't tried their lunch menu and I don't think I want to. They should just makes this a breakfast place. I'll admit that when I order to pick up, sometimes the white bread is just so hard to bite on. Other than that, the food is yummy. The restaurant needs a little work done. It looks so messy but the customers don't care cause the place is ALWAYS packed. I would take my friends here, but not my parents.

Diners are endearing because of the stories they collect, the heartiness of a questionably-healthy meal, and the wholesome people who commit their time to keeping the doors open. This 2nd location of the 43rd Street Deli left me full and my wallet fine, but it doesn't quite keep the richness of a mom & pop must-try like other spots in town. The Space Right past the on-ramp to I-75 off of Williston Rd, this 43rd Street Deli is on the edge of Gainesville, but notably the closest breakfast option on that side of town. Plenty of parking and ample seating on the inside to accommodate a busier night, but I honestly question if they get packed out. Simple decor and the smell of oil and coffee set the tone: its a glorified greasy spoon. The Service The host was pretty aloof, but beyond that I felt well taken care of throughout the meal. When I plop down and submit myself to ordering starchy, dense groceries like these, I need the type of coffee strong enough to double as paint thinner. I also a bowl of it. While I didn't get the bowl, she stopped in swiftly to fill my cup up and our orders came out fresh, and as the doctor would never have ordered. The Food My pictures from this and many other brunch trips will attest: I dig sweets for breakfast. This place has a pretty large menu, enough to warrant a separate menu for both breakfast options or lunch selections, and if it's before 1pm it's time for pancakes, french toasts, or whatever else I comes drizzled or with whipped cream. It seems they like to play around with indulgence more than most places, and I was admittedly enamored by this. - Monkey Bread French Toast (C+): Better than it looks. Some bites were warm and tasty, others were doughy, cool, and bland. Add the icing drizzle and call this an all-around regret. Also noteworthy that I got a side of eggs and hashbrowns, both of which came correct. Portion of the hash was less than I've got elsewhere but that was probably for the best. Final Thoughts It's called comfort food for a reason: you feel cozy and at home when you eat it, even if that means an extra 30 minutes at the gym later. This location gives you the poor dietary choices you came for, but leaves the warmth a beloved local go-to must have to hook me.

This review is for Breakfast - Friendly service and lots of food options, we were passing by and stopped in for breakfast, we were pleasantly surprised. Orange Juice is not freshly squeezed, but iced tea was good. I opted for the 8oz grilled ham, cheddar cheese grits, 2 eggs over easy and a biscuit - The ham steak was really good, perfectly grilled and tasted fresh, eggs were good and the biscuit was fresh, warm and fluffy in the middle, I like that the grits were offered with real cheese vs. the processed american cheese that most diners tend to use, this was a plus, the grits was good. My hubby ordered the breakfast burrito with hash browns, the burrito was very large and he loved the hash browns. he said everything was excellent. Don't go out of your way, but a good place if passing by.

Found this place on yelp the morning after moving my brother into college at UF. We were browsing for places and after realizing most of the places we were looking at opened at 11. I saw this place after all the brunch places and decided on going here. I am so happy with my decision. We pulled in and my family was worried I didn't do as well as I usually do picking a place to eat. The letters are peeling off the sign and it does not look like much from the outside. However, this place has a plethora of breakfast options. (even veggie options! which I loved) We absolutely loved the loaded potato pancakes! It's like a loaded baked potato, plus egg on the side! I had the black bean cakes which were not missing much meat at all. This place is awesome! I loved the South location since we avoided any crowds.

I have eaten here annually for the past two years for Sunday breakfast with my dance team after we compete at the University of Florida's Filipino Student Association Def Talent Jam (UF FSA DTJ). The team has made it a tradition the past 4 years or so and I'm glad to have been a part of it. Excellent service and staff who I applaud for being able to feed the team (around 30 ppl) without a call ahead (whoops). DTJ XXI 2013 I had the Irish Benedict, which is classic eggs Benedict with homemade corned beef. Served with a choice of home fries or hashbrowns. Very delicious as I still remember it to this day. I wish I got it this year too. DTJ XXII 2014 (We won 1st place btw) I had the stuffed banana french toast which is a banana and cream cheese "paste" (lack of a better term) inside what looks like Texas toast, served with eggs and bacon or sausage links. I did not enjoy it too much because there was too much sour cream. Overall, the place has great food, friendly staff, big portions, and affordable!

I had the peaches and cream Waffles. They were amazing! We had a solid waitress and we always had water or coffee. Bit busy but more than enough space inside.

This place was PACKED. I came here with my fiance and his friends. I ordered the mess. I could NOT finish it! Definitely consider splitting a meal and order a side instead of one dish to yourself...unless you are really hungry!

Food was good but nothing special. a little bit overpriced for what it is. The food sizes were a bit smaller then expected based on the pictures here.

This is a good solid place for breakfast. They make good omelets, decent coffee and great biscuits. The sausage patties were ok, but the home fries were good especially since we ordered them crunchy. The only thing is the coffee cups are really small, and the silverware is the cheap pressed metal that just doesn't feel good. If they upgraded the aforementioned I would give it a five star rating in a heartbeat.

3 stars is about right for 43rd street. Their traditional breakfast items are usually pretty solid (pancakes, hash, French toast, etc). The "special" items, however can be very hit or miss. Sometimes they blow you away, and sometimes it's just"meh". On my last visit I tried the breakfast burrito and I didn't really care for it. The eggs inside didn't really taste like they were seasoned at all. If not for the salsa it would have been quite bland overall. And even the salsa wasn't that great, although I'm sure it was just salsa from a jar. Not very spicy at all. The poached eggs can also be disappointing; probably the smallest I've ever had. Their specialty French toasts, however, are usually really delicious, such as the banana and monkey bread variations. It seems like you're safer with non savory items here, since you don't have to worry as much about seasoning. The service is always fast and courteous. My only complaint is that sometimes, with large parties, the food can take an exceedingly long time, and will not all come out together; you could end up waiting 20 mins between the first plate delivery and the last. It's not a deal breaker, but it's something you should be aware of if you plan on taking a large group (more than 6-8 people). All in all, it's not my favorite breakfast place in Gainesville, but it's decent and they have been known to produce some really delicious dishes; they're just not very consistent.

Honestly my new favorite spot in Gainesville for breakfast/brunch. Had a friend visit last weekend and wanted to take him somewhere I've never been before, so I stumbled here based on the yelp reviews. Smart choice. Food was delectable and had great portions for the price. Far enough from campus to feel like a true Gainesville spot, not just some chain. It had the southern charm that is rare nowadays in it's ambiance, food, and wait staff.

I love this place. I think it is one of the best breakfast/brunch places in Gainesville. In comparison to other places, I really get the authentic Southern feel. I always bring my friends here whenever I want to introduce them to something new and they are always blown away by this place. I feel like it is very quiet and goes unnoticed because of its location but that makes it more of a hidden gem. The wait is never long and they always have a special menu filled with unique dishes that never disappoint. The only time I was ever disappointed was by their chicken & waffles but because it was only a one time thing I let it slide. Besides that, they give huge delicious portions for a nice price and great service :)

I love this place, they have a great breakfast and lunch selection. What's most surprising is that they have a bunch of vegetarian options with tempeh and tofu. I had their tofu reuben the other day and it was delicious. My friend had the corned beef one and said it was great too.

Been trying out different breakfast places around town and came upon this joint. It's a little out of the way. Service was decently fast and servers were friendly and attentive. Got the Irish Benedict. The eggs were poached well and the corned beef hash was well seasoned. The breakfast potatoes were bland though. Just diced potatoes that were deep fried. They could have used some form of seasoning. Other than that, would probably come back again.
