Best homestyle Mexican food I've ever had in Florida! This place could be a perfect implant to the authentic Mexican restaurants in Dallas! Their taco salad shells are delicious! This is the worst Mexican-style food I have ever had. The red sauce was brown and I'm pretty sure it was regular gravy. The only upside is that it was very inexpensive. You get what you pay for I guess, but roadside garbage is free and I wouldn't recommend eating that either.

I read through the previous reviews and I see where the confusion is coming from for some people. Let me be clear from the start - Taco Town is perfect for what it's trying to be. Do not expect authentic Mexican food, do not expect anything fancy. Don't even expect plates and real silverware. This is a quick efficient tasty tex mex takeout place (you can eat there, but you might as well take it home, they're quite honest in their advertising when they say there's no music and no view). Think Taco Bell but local and better. Need a quick meal? Want to pick up a billion crunchy tacos to feed a crowd? Miss Taco Bell but never going back because it's taken revenge on you too many times? Then try Taco Town. It's yummy and cheap. But if you're looking for authentic food, or atmosphere, or somewhere to get a good margarita, then this is not your place.

Is this a top notch restaurant? No, most certainly not. But, it's a cheap and pretty good Mexican food restaurant. Always friendly and quick service, I go here when I want something fast and cheap, but a step up from fast food.Also, as far as customer service goes, if you have been in there a few times, they remember you, which is something I like.

I used to eat at Taco Town at the Mary Esther location. It was a new, clean place, but they have since closed this location, so I am now forced to visit the Ft Walton location, which has been there for ages! My first time at this location, I did note it was much older, dirtier than the Mary Esther location. But the food was still good, the smothered burrito combo is so good!! But after reading another review here about a rat running across the room, I now have a red flag up about this location, as I mentioned earlier about the age and cleanliness of this Taco Town. I want to give it 5 stars because it is good, cheap food, they just need a newer, cleaner location.

I was curious to stop by, being the taco carnivore that I am, but after having some tacos and enchiladas, I must say it was good, I mean, they could use spicier salsas but it was good, the tacos were no big thing, just meat, lettuce, tomato and cheese, basic taco, the enchiladas is what got me, no enchilada sauce just cheese, but it was good, yeah, I'll go back..

Not very good Mexican and perhaps sadly there isn't any better in this town. I had the beef enchilada dinner and two crunchy tacos. The enchilada was in a flour tortilla with some spiced ground beef and a mess of nasty cheese sauce on top and came with refried beans. I was expecting some enchilada sauce but no. The tacos were okay and seemed to have the same meat as the enchilada. The beans were very good and seemed to be homemade. I won't go back.

Unreal...I will never go back...THAT WAS THE WORST MEXICAN FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD!! I can't believe that there are four of them now, who promoted this place and how did they make enough money to open another one. Maybe it is because they use cheap sauce and microwave. I have never been more shocked in my life to see good reviews on a place that isn't even somewhat descent. I got a Chicken Enchilada that was really a burrito and I have to say I was STARVING and couldn't eat it. Mexican food is TASTY people, not tasteless. I should have went to Taco Bell and spent 5.00 for something I could at least swallow. Will never waste my time again, and if people think this is good I should open a place because apparently your food can be horrible and yet your restaurant can still grow! SHOCKED!

For a large part of my early 20s Taco Town has been a staple of my diet, as it was so cheap and so damn good! Just don't say "Taco Supreme" on accident.... They get pissed!

Is this the absolute best Mexican food? No way. BUT I still love this place. They are very affordable and have specials every day. They have 50 cent tacos on Monday (which I don't eat cause they are beef tacos) and other specials the rest of the week. I know they are closed on Sunday and I think maybe Saturday too. Every time I go in there to get something for lunch they are crowded and the line is LONG. The line moves soooo fast though, faster than any fast food line. They are always very friendly when they take my order and give me my food. I have been there quite a few times now and each person has had a good attitude. The food isn't crazy-good or anything but I haven't had everything on the menu yet and I don't eat beef so that kind of limits my choices more than the average customer. I have had some things with chicken in it and i gotta say I'm not in love with the chicken. It's kinda bland and dry. I love their taco salads though. It's really basic food, it hits the spot though and I don't feel like crap after I eat it (unless i eat too much). One thing that is very very good is their hot salsa...yum! You should give these guys a try. They are a locally owned business with nice people, decent food and non-scary prices :) OH!!!! VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW = CASH ONLY!!!!

Sadly enough, these are probably the best tacos in the two-county area. It's a dive. They literally only started taking credit cards two days ago. And it's in a terrible location. On the other hand, it's cheap as dirt. And it just tastes great! Real Tex-Mex, like you'd get in, well, Texas. Definitely the cheap stuff. But the kind of "cheap stuff" that you'd have gone to a dive for there too. Okaloosa and Walton Counties are filled with "Mexican" places -- Pepito's, Old Mexico, La Rumba -- which are all chains and while all serve the EXACT same menu in the EXACT same style as one another. And it's dive food too. The kind of dive food you WOULDN'T have gone to a dive in Texas for. It will fill you up, it's not strictly terrible, and you can get used to it. But it is about two orders of magnitude worse than, say, El Chico, or Chuy's, or virtually any other place in Dallas or San Antonio. Then there's Cantina Laredo, which bills itself as "gourmet" Mexican, which isn't true: it's sort of gourmet Tex-Mex. And it's great...if you're in the mood for that. But you aren't always in the mood for that. So that leaves us with Taco Town, which fortunately has several (even more dive-y) locations in the area. It's cheap, quick and good. NOT a date place!!! But if you're just craving a good taco (and at this location, a whole wall-menu of other stuff), this is your place.

I couldn't wait til I got home to write this review, so I'm drafting it on my smartphone as I am eating here. When I first moved here, I was so excited to try a taco place. I've lived in CA, AZ, and TX. I love tacos! This place is bad. I mean, a step up from Taco Bell...maybe. I walk in at lunch and order 2 chicken tacos and a regular taco. The lady asks me, "corn or flour?" I say soft corn. She looks at me like I'm dumb and says, "so you want the hard?" I say no, soft corn. It takes her awhile to realize that there IS such a thing as soft corn tortillas. I say ok, you don't have that, I will take flour. I get my tacos, and there is this flimsy rolled taco with iceberg lettuce, yellow shredded cheese, and a gallon of sour cream leaking out of it. No self respecting Mexican would ever put that stuff on a taco, let alone use a flour or hard tortillas. Needless to say, my dreams of having that perfect carne asada taco with onions and cilantro, with the double soft corn tortillas (and the little sliced radishes on the side) were crushed. The only thing palatable here would be the salsa, which seems homemade. Enjoy your taco bell tacos!

One of the better fast food Mexican joints I've tried. They have great daily specials (aka: 50 cent taco Monday, $3 taco salad Thursdays...). There is always a good sized line at lunchtime, but it moves very quickly. The food is great and it is locally owned. Hours are a downside (no weekends, close at 8 pm). Edit: This place used to only accept cash but now they accept cards.
