I only gave a star because I had no choice. I just went this past Tuesday and had a roach in my sweet tea. Not one of the water bug cockroaches, but one of the small nasty roaches. The sushi chef doesn't speak English or pretends to not understand so he didn't know what I was saying when I complained and the ONE waitress that was there took forever to come by. I was sitting right at the sushi counter. Needless to say I will never visit this place EVER!!

Had been craving sushi for a few days now and finally made it to Kiku Hana... The special for today was Shaggy Dog... It was DELICIOUS! I would def recommend this roll to anyone!

The sushi is good. Not the most amazing I have had, but it satisfies my craving. Like others have said the service is Sloooooooow. Don't come if you are in a hurry. 15 min to get 4 pieces of Nigiri, and I'm the only customer here right now.

This place is ok. The sushi here is decent for this area.. and by that I mean one step above grocery store sushi. I lived in Japan for four years so my standards are high when it comes to sushi. In addition to the standard four piece nigiri appetizer, I had the beef bulgogi bento box. It was not that great. This restaurant is obviously owned by Koreans so I was surprised that the bulgogi was bland. It came with rice, miso, salad, 4 california rolls, and gyoza. The gyoza was NOT good at all. I came for lunch and was surprised to find the place completely dead. In addition to the average food, the prices were quite expensive. Customer service was ok, but there was no one else in the restaurant so that's expected. Not sure if I would come back......

I've had mixed experiences with the restaurant, but the constants are the food takes forever but it is really good. The favorites to order are the fried rice and the Louisiana roll, amazing. The wait staff can be pretty rude and clueless. They don't really refill your glass while your waiting, which sucks because it takes a while to recieve food. I've also had incidents where they just didn't hear something I've ordered, and started arguing with me when I kept asking for it. However everything may change do to the recent change of ownership and chef.

I understand they just changed ownership, the sushi chef is amazing and they have a broad selection of very good Korean food as well as really nice bento box deals for lunch and dinner.

*****REALLY glad we found this place**** let me start by saying ........ the BADASS ROLL!!! Believe me, you want this!!!! We actually drove there with intentions of trying the Ali baba restaurant next door, but my wife saw this place and had been craving Japanese food, so we decided to try it. And I'm very glad we did! I ordered the "shaggy dog roll" and " badass roll" (it will change your life!) and my wife, the chicken teriyaki bento box (a real adventurous eater, she is. Lol) Her food came out well before mine and I was stuck watching her eat for a good 20 minutes or more. The waitress was loud and quirky and for some reason kept talking to the sushi chef like he was deaf or stupid or something. However, I must say she took good care of us and when she saw how long it was taking on the sushi, brought us 3 different types of kimchi to try as well as some drinks, all on the house. (It's also worth noting that she was the only server, so she had several tables to attend to.) Ultimately, the food was amazing! Sushi took a long time but was worth the wait. My wife loved her meal as well. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it really did take way too long for the sushi. We will definitely be going back, and maybe next time won't have such a long wait.

Went there for my first time the other day and was amazed by how wonderful their sushi was. The chef made everything fresh. Our waitress was wonderful, she was very helpful with any questions we had and was very friendly and personable. My family will be going back!

I don't even like sushi and it was good. Went went my friend and the sushi turned out to be delicious.

Sushi was fresh-ish but the rolls weren't very inventive. The service and decor are sub-par. Sushimoto is worth the drive to Destin instead.

Not that great, but not awful. The speciality rolls are boring and lack creativity. The miso soup had great flavor but the ginger salad dressing was gross (both were seriously overpriced). The service was friendly and attentive. I don't think I'll be back, there's better sushi in Fort Walton (Okinawa and Juno have better sushi even though their service is abysmal).

Great Place. They did not have my favorite Spicy Chicken Bulgogi on the menu but just a regular chicken bulgogi, I asked the waitress if I could order it and explained what I've had before and she agreed. It was perfect just the way I've had it in the past, we also ordered sushi rolls which were on point and before we left the Cook or owner, not sure which, came out and ask if my dish was as expected. She said if we came back she would treat us to some sake, I told her I never turn a drink down from a woman! lol She was very friendly. I will definitely go back her not only for the sake but for another great meal!

I really enjoy this authentic Asian restaurant. Can't really understand the staff but that's ok! At least the food is awesome. The beef bulgogi is wonderful with all the fresh sides to include kimchi and bean sprouts. Just be forewarned their hot dishes are super spicey! My husband can eat really got things but took one bite and couldn't eat anymore without downing an entire beer.

I ate here last night. A friend who works over at Resort Quest stops in here for lunch regularly and recommended we go here since I was in the mood for sushi. I ordered the special Louisiana roll and the tempura asparagus roll. The asparagus came out first and was very good. I believe it had eel sauce on the plate. I decided to go for the Louisiana roll since it was so highly recommended on Yelp. I'm glad I tried it! Mr. Miyagi rolls the roll in aluminum foil and sets in on fire for a little while so the topped is a bit charred with Cajun spices and a white fish. Inside, I think, is shrimp, and some spicy mayo. So, I recommend Kiku Hana whether you want to try something simple such as the asparagus, or something a little more crazy such as the Louisiana roll. Also, I have to say the service was great. We had a waitress I'd previously had at Kim's Korean. I remember her being kind of surly there, but on this visit to Kiku Hana she was very pleasant. Must have had an attitude adjustment.

Not impressed at all. Showed up for a quick bite, though there were two other guest I thought well service should be fast at least. After navigating the 150+ menu items (most are sushi rolls) waitress/hostess informed me that they were not doing lunch items but dinner only which means big portions for more money it's 11:30 mind you (No biggie I'll share). Well... While waiting sitting at the bar I felt like something was crawling on my arm as I looked it was a little roach causally I blew it off and remained silent as to not panic my girlfriend. As my little buddy scurried off food promptly was delivered and sushi was done in front of me. Food taste amazing all the same I ordered beef bulgolgi which was big enough for two, chicken yaki soba and a California roll that had a different taste each bite. I think this place would be great minus the roach. Not worth$45 at all probably will never come back.

Clearly, there is a dearth of good Japanese restaurants around town. This one, like all the others, are run by Koreans, which means I will be staying away from the sushi. Their lunch menu was okay. I got the galbi bento box. It was supposed to come with gyozas and I had to ask for mine, twice. Inside it's sort of drab and depressing. All of that notwithstanding, someone I know swears by their Mr. Miyagi roll. Doesn't that have something to do with shaving off pubic hair in a Chris Brown song? Anyway, she ordered some to share but I didn't try it. So maybe check that out.

We had absolutely fabulous sushi! Mr. Miyagi was most friendly, and the regulars there told us that his custom rolls are absolutely the best. We had been regulars at another sushi spot in the Destin/FWB area, but we think that we'll be changing our loyalty to here. The service was excellent. I appreciate the little things, such as the hostess wiping our clean space at the sushi bar, having better quality chop sticks, the opportunity to sample an unusual fish which we'd never heard of before, and the Japanese candies on our way out.

A suprising delight to find!!! The menu selection was large and the fish very fresh. The taste was amazing as the chef did things that I had not seen in more than 30-40 previous sushi restaurants around the country. Including the green onions under the nigiri sushi was particularly ingenious. He also insisted on preparing a special role for me and I am VERY happy he did. The role was prepared with a fish I had never had and then torched golden. It was then wrapped in tin foil and cooked/steamed over a plate of burning alcohol (Quite the sight)! The taste was absolutely delicious, smokey barbequey with a slight taste of crawfish and spicy mayo. Probably one of the most delicious roles I have had. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for a fantastic meal. Price was a little high a first glance but for the quality and taste was a bargain!

Loved this place! Sushi was fresh, well prepared and all around delicious! Mr. Miyagi and his wife Kyung are extra friendly and sweet. The server Bianca (hope I sleepers that right) was very helpful and sweet. Def coming back here! It's hard to fine good sushi. I was very excited to fin this place!

It pains me to write this.... Started coming here when they first opened and was impressed with the food. Everything was tasty and the sushi was REALLY good. I would often recommend to friends and never had a bad feedback. The first thing that put me off.... About a year ago my daughter and I went for sushi. I don't mind paying good cash for food that is worth it and we can put down some sushi when we're in the mood..... Anyhow, we ate about three rolls and were debating on a fourth when an older Asian lady literally talked us into a Mr. Miyagi special roll. It could have been *my bad* because I didn't ask about price and didn't really think about it until the bill.... The special roll was like TWENTY bucks. It was good, but holy HELLO? I didn't say anything and left my normal 20% tip. Next thing that turned me off.... I called in an order to go. I wanted an avocado roll, cucumber roll and two chicken teriyaki bento. I went to pick it up and the bill was like 65 bucks. Again, *my bad*, paid it and went home. When we opened the boxes, it literally looked like the food was thrown in. I obviously don't expect things to be "plated" in a Styrofoam box, but it was a total mess and just not good. The sushi was barely rolled and was falling apart.... The chicken was more connective tissue than chicken and overall, for the price? AWFUL. But I chalked it up to a bad night. Went a couple times for dine-in lunch and it was fine, so my hopes were back up. I tried another called in order to-go for sushi about two months ago. I ordered a veggie roll and a regular spicy tuna roll. I picked it up and it was $18. When I came back to my office, literally a one minute drive, and opened the box, again, it was thrown together - the sushi barely rolled and just dumped in the box. For the price, definitely not up to par. Final straw.... A group of us from work went in there on Tues for lunch. The place was empty. Several of us ordered iced tea, both sweet and unsweet. It tasted bad - like it had been brewed two days earlier and left out. The diet coke was flat. The lady taking our orders was not a very warm person, quite curt. One of my co-workers ordered egg rolls and when they came out, they were still ice cold in the middle. Several of us ordered bento and plenty of sushi rolls. The bulgogi didn't taste right - it had a bitterness that put it off. The lettuce in the salad was bitter, too - like the core leaves were used.... My sushi was good but.... It was just a very uncomfortable experience. It was very pricey for the quality. We had to get up several times to get extra plates..... All of us that ate ended up with tummy aches and multiple trips to the toilet. I won't be returning, sadly. It's a shame, too, because it was once a really good place!

While I can't vouch for the sushi ( I'm not a fan ), their menu items are good. The teriyaki and katsu in the bento box are pretty good. The focus seems to be on the sushi bar, as that's where the nicer decor is, but the dining room isn't bad either. My wife is not a fan of non-hibachi style items, but she really enjoyed their food. Odd hours though.

The Sashimi Road (Continued): What a pleasant surprise for a sashimi lunch. I had read about this place and wanted to try it for one of my lunch outings. It is located in the old Walmart Shopping Center in Fort Walton. I didn't know that, but after combing the area, I finally spied it in the corner. Because it is was an old store in a shopping plaza, you won't be blown away with the atmosphere. It is nice and quaint, but nothing to write home about. The staff is excellent! The sushi chef and the waitresses are kind, attending, and friendly. Like many small restaurants, you may have to wait a little if the staff gets busy because more customers arrived that they predicted. The Sashimi was very good. I try and order mostly the same types of Sashimi so I can draw a good comparison. The squid, the escolar, and the roe were very good. The octopus which is cooked was just a tad tough. Please note that I mention "Escolar" instead of "White Tuna". There appears to be some concern in the Sushi/Sashimi world that many places will serve you "Escolar" and call it "White Tuna". I think I this may have occurred with me at other restaurants, but not here. When I asked for White Tuna, the Sushi Chef said we don't have White Tuna, but we do have Escolar. This statement speaks to the integrity and quality of this establishment. The Sushi Chef wants to please you and will not tell you something just to make a dime. He is a true Chef with the customer's needs placed first. When I asked for Salmon Roe, he told me he didn't have any cucumber to place the roe on to make it easier to eat and asked if it was alright to place it on the plate. I asked about a lemon slice and he replied that lemon can rob the roe of it's true taste and would not recommend doing it. Again, it was about the customer. The portions, presentation, and knife skills were excellent. AND, I was pleasantly surprised about the cost. Very reasonable for Sashimi. Atmosphere =3 Location = 3 Old shopping Center Service = 4 Quality = 4 Knife Skills = 4 Cost = 4 Less expensive that average As I was leaving the chef asked if I would be there tomorrow. I definitely would if I wasn't going out of town. * You may ask why I write about Sashimi: If your Sashimi is good, so will your sushi because it is the basis for sushi and other dishes.

The good: Good, authentic sushi. The Korean owner knows what he's doing. Place actually looks like a real Japanese restaurant, not the tacky stuff you see at Okinawa's. They also have good imported sake and Japanese beer. The bad: It's expensive. It's one of the most expensive sushi restaurants in Fort walton. I wouldn't say the price is worth it, but if you want to have "real" japanese sushi, like it is in Japan, this is the place to go. It's also always empty and kind creepy. We went at 8 and the whole place was super quiet. The Ugly: Waitstaff is rude and slow. It's clearly run by a family and they're clearly not stressing customer service. The gentlemen behind the sushi bar was very intimidating and made it a little hard to eat. They also fly in their fish from a Georgian Japanese fish market, so I don't know how fresh that is.

This was a great restaurant...the food was excellent especially the Chicken Katsu...would recommend to anyone who wants some good sushi from "locals" to the occasional NW Florida tourist...FWB has a good sushi house

Let me start by saying I eat out at least 20 times per month. This was the worst service I've had in 12 years. Ordered pork bulgogi and they brought me beef. I informed the waitress that I ordered pork and she said they were out. We also ordered sushi and they were out of the conk, but we weren't informed until 30+ minutes when they were bringing out our food. HORRIBLE! I will not go back!

This place is awesome, best sushi place In fort Walton. My friends and I come here all the time, but recently our experience stood out! Aside from having great sushi and specials each month the owner is one of a kind. He always makes special rolls for us, the other day hd made one for our friend and added it to his regular menu.... Go and order the Fernando! In addition, the owner is so entertaining doing magic tricks and puzzles to keep our entire party engaged and entertained (we had children as well as out of town guests so it was perfect)! There is only one thing keeping me from giving them a 5 and its the wait staff. The girls are really slow about getting drink orders and (perhaps it's due to language barriers) it seems as though they are scatter brained and all over the place not paying close attention. Every time I go in they forget at least on persons drink order and/or give us the wrong thing (I.e. Cold sake when we order warm, or a small when we order a large). It's annoying. Even with that "issue" I still keep going back because the sushi is great and so is the owner, Mr. Miyagi!! Sit at the bar (with the owner) and you're in great hands!

The sushi was so fresh! The Mango Tango is an absolute must, but you have to ask for it. It's not on the menu, but should be!

I like sushi and sashimi. I felt that most places in the area are pretty good if I have a craving....until today when I went to Kiku Hana. The chef is very creative. He not only beautifully prepared the plate but also infused amazing flavor. The fish is super fresh and the portions were sizable. We were told that the selection of cold sake is about to increase. The cold sake we tried was exceptional so I look forward to the expanded menu. The restaurant is very pretty and the service is friendly. I hope others also have a good experience.
