Ribs were good, the spud salad to die for, but the "seasonal", espresso - rubbed rib eye was disappointingly tough

We both had the Black Plate Special which was a rib eye steak allegedly smoked for 14 hours. It was very tough and gristly and too well done. We enjoyed covering the steak with the various sauces offered. We also tried the Mac and Cheese. It would have been good except it was cold. For the prices at this place, you can get better barbeque elsewhere. The staff is quite attentive and the restaurant very clean. So, I gave three stars because maybe we should have tried something other than the steak. The other folks at nearby tables seemed happy with their fare. Stay away from the rib eye.

Alright 2 stars because the place was clean and owner was very nice. They lost 3 stars because the worse part was the sauces and brisket was dried out. In all fairness I'm use to Texas BBQ and this wasn't close. We pulled out of Rib City because this place has higher ratings but it was a disappointment. So brisket, baby back ribs and fries for roughly $25. Ribs fell off the bone but a little salty for my taste and the sauces by far the worse I've ever experienced. Just local channels on the televisions so I hope you like local teams. Franchise location I'm assuming and they are keeping cost low. I would suggest adding pickles and onions as part of the meal. (Clearly that's Texas)

One of the better places in Ft Myers. Brisket was good. Fries were on point. Smoked corn was tasty. BBQ sauce was decent, but didn't blow me away. I would definitely go back, looking forward to trying other dishes.

The place is setup like a fast food joint. I had the spare ribs. There was more bone than meat. I would guess about a couple ounces in a 5 rib serving. The BBQed beans were not good. I didn't finish mine. The corn bread was good. Rib City is a better choice for BBQ.

This is a franchise. First off, as an Aif Force Veteran, I expected to recieve s military discount much like Lowes provides. No go. They may offer this on some days but the person behind the counter just wanted me to shake her hand and thank me for my service. I ordered a two meat combo. Brisket and pulled pork. The brisket was very dry, so dry that I thought my mom barbecued it! The pulled pork was ok, but lacked flavor. The dude order of beans was very sweet When I returned the brisket to the counter, the guy told me that I should have ordered moist brisket! I told him that I wasn't given the option when I ordered. He then gave me another order of pulled pork, instead of offering the supposed moist brisket. Oh well. The cost for just me was 12.50. I did donate 2 bucks for the wounded warrior charity. I just realized that it was I who donated the money to the service members not Mission BBQ. If Mission does do a match contribution, then I offer a full apology for my skepticism, if not they should not be marketing under false pretenses. The staff were very attentive to customers needs, the place was spotless. If they can adjust their bbq process and put out edible brisket, then this would be a good place to go. I did like the pledge to the flag, it reminded me of my Catholic School days.

I've eaten barbecue in every place in Cape Coral or Fort Myers. There are only a few good ones most of them are marginal. Now Fort Myers has a great BBQ place. The staff was friendly and the food was excellent. And I know it's a small thing but they had raspberry tea which I really do like.
(5)Craig D.
First visit was fantastic. Ordered smoked turkey and beef brisket with green beans, corn bread and an unsweetened tea. The meats were oh so tender and flavorful. No knife necessary. The brisket was very lean and juicy and the turkey had a nice smokey flavor and was also quite juicy. The waiter just came by with free samples of pulled chicken. It was delicious. The tea is brewed strongly enough to satisfy and the are several bbq sauces to choose from. I'll be back.

We ordered pulled pork, possible best pulled pork ever Brisket sandwich good but might not get lean next time And the ribs omg my husband said best ribs in 60 years and he's eaten a lot of them Great food happy people working there and terrific American concept God bless the USA and mission bbq They have their heart in the right place

This is the best place in Ft. Myers to eat! I have never put brisket in my mouth like this place serves!! I do ask that they serve mine lean and sliced! They have smoked corn on the cob that I swear, you will go back for seconds for, maybe thirds! WOW, I usually don't get this excited about food but I cannot believe this place! My hubs and I have been every week since we discovered it! I am so carried away with it! The only downside that I have found is that I would prefer they have a more brown sugar/molasses type bbq sauce, we bring our own! They never know it, we just hid the bottle in a bag! Their baked beans have brisket in them, best I have ever tasted in my life and I am from AR! I wish they had baked potatoes, then this place would send me over the moon!! Very nice staff too!!

DELISH!!! Thank you for a great NEW place in Ft.Myers My husband and I passed by on our way to Famous Daves, glad we stopped. The place is open, bright with a colorful atmosphere all in honor of the working force. The service was fast, comfortable and easy. Food was fast, fresh and delicious. Highly recommend it. Will definitely be back soon.
(5)Dan d.
After some minor confusion with their system (hint to management: consider posting instructions), the rest of the experience was quite pleasant. The staff was unnecessarily friendly, and the food was uniformly good (brisket was particularly good).
(4)Erika A.
Ive had the beef brisket, chicken, fries and mac and cheese. All really good for a bbq franchisr and good size portions! Way better than sonnys in my opinion. Only downside is the bbq sauces werent that impressive, just ok.
(4)Kyleigh H.
I'm usually not a big fan of bbq but the ribs were delicious. My family and I also tried corn on the cob, Mac n cheese, green beans, baked beans, and corn bread. There was nothing I tried that didn't taste good. It was so delicious. The banana pudding was excellent. The staff are incredible! Super friendly and polite. I've never been more satisfied. I would definitely recommend Mission BBQ to anyone who asks about a good place to eat in town. Thank you so much to the staff for such a satisfying evening!
(5)Matt C.
Just moving from Richmond VA and happy to see a familiar bbq joint in town. Customer service is always great at any Mission you go to. They do a great job with the pulled pork and most sides.
(4)Liz L.
Best Mac and cheese in town! Had the pulled pork sandwich North Carolina style and it was delicious! My wife had the chopped brisket sandwich and we shared the mac and cheese and baked beans. Hands down great food for a great price. Love the decor and the mission behind these folks. Will definitely come back again.
(5)Viktoria J.
Great customer service! The food was delicious! I have the pulled chicken sandwich and mac n cheese. My husband had the brisket and baby back ribs. We both liked the smokey mountain sauce the best. Everything was reasonably priced.
(5)Peggy B.
Glad we stopped in. Very quick and reasonably priced. Great pulled pork, my husband loved his brisket, so tender and flavorful. Love that they support the wounded warriors. Will definitely be back!
(5)Cody W.
Finally a decent BBQ restaurant in southwest Florida! Watch out Sonny's, Dickies and Famous Dave's... This place has real BBQ and is not a commercial wannabe. The biggest surprise here was the sausage on the menu. I've been searching for a BBQ restaurant that's serves smoked sausage like the independent joints in Texas and this place has it. The brisket was great and had unbelievably good flavor. The pulled pork was top notch and their sauce selection was good. No complaints from this Texan and I can't wait to come back and try it again.
(5)Rhona G.
Not worth the trip. Very pricey and small portions. Ribs way overcooked I say skip this place
(1)Lynne C.
We were here recently. Food was fabulous and staff friendly and helpful. The patriotic atmosphere was wonderful. At noon everyone stood and sang the National Anthem. Will definitely return to this place that serves those who serve(military, police and firefighters). Way to go!!
(5)Z G.
If you want order from your table service this might not be the place for you. But if your belly wants great BBQ, do yourself a favor and STAY! I had the ribs, Mac n Cheese, and baked beans. Yummy. They have several BBQ sauces to choose from, so you're sure to find one you love. The food was delish and the service was AMAZING! Super friendly staff and our new Mission BBQ buddy, Dave, kept surprising us with samples of this n that. The bf fell in love with the sample of prime rib (which apparently is seasonal and will sick around until early July). Left full, satisfied, and about 5 pounds heavier:)
(5)Justin B.
The best Bbq in fort Myers ... They have the best brisket hands down .... Eat there weekly
(5)Amanda V.
Best BBQ in SW Florida. Brisket and pulled pork are on point. Beans are tasty and fries also. Cornbread is horrible, don't bother trying it. Sauces are a little different than most bbq places but I'm sure there's something for everyone. Been here almost every weekend for last 2 months!
(5)Skyler T.
This place just has great American BBQ written all over it, and by American I haven't had more of a patriotic lunch in my entire life! Walking in you'll see an array of American military and police artifacts that makes you feel grateful to have those great people in your life. Mission BBQ has dedicated their time and money towards The Wounded Warrior Project, proceeds from their collector cup goes towards this amazing charity to give back to those have given everything for our freedom. They have Ne-Hi grape soda (something that I couldn't find unless i was in the heart of Georgia). Menu is al la cate so you can choose what you want. Staff were very helpful in helping me decide what to have, a sample coming in the door was helpful too. In addition to the friendly suggestions, they even helped me pair different sauces to items to make it better. I thought sitting down after all that with a huge southern style BBQ lunch in front of me was all that i could ask for but, an announcer came over the loud speakers and feeling like i was in a stadium filled with hundreds of thousands of people the restaurant rose in the singing The Star Spangled Banner (sung everyday at 12). If Mission BBQ's objective is to reconnect people to our great country, feed them some great affordable BBQ, and make me sing about the red, white, and blue, by all means their mission is complete. Eat Here. God Bless America.

This is my first time here at Mission BBQ. It has a spacious, clean, family-friendly atmosphere, friendly employees, and reasonable prices. I had the pulled pork. The meat was very tender and juicy without being greasy but was way too salty. I also had the green beans and while good,, again too salty for me. My husband had the beef brisket and it was excellent. Fork tender and juicy. They have lots of different sauces. I will return and try more menu items.
(4)Scott K.
Great food great people, clean environment. One of the better BBQ places in ft Myers for sure!
(4)Rachel S.
This place is amazing! My BF and I shared the chicken, ribs, pulled pork and brisket and all were so delicious. I'm from St. Louis so I like to believe I know good BBQ when I taste it. The Mac and cheese and potato salad was to die for. We actually went back today and learned a little secret from one of the employees. They went to every famous BBQ state recently to "study BBQ". :)
(5)Marie C.
Great concept and really good food. Had pulled pork and brisket sandwiches with sides of fries and baked beans. Meat was tender and lean. Fries were too salty for our taste, but good. Beans were sweet and tasty. Tried variety of sauces on table and like that you can choose which and how much. Glad they opened while the locals can enjoy. Next year in season this place will be packed. Concept should work well in this area.

I stopped by on a Friday night at 9:30pm, this place was supposed to close at 10pm. I ordered a full slab of baby back ribs with a side order of green beans. Can't say I was too impressed with the ribs. The meat was not falling off the bones and seemed somewhat dry. I will say the green beans tasted great. Corn bread was good too. Very nice staff as well. Hopefully my next visit will be a better tasting experience.
(2)Robin L.
Get the brisket burger...this should be featured on a Food Network TV show...it's THAT good.
(5)Brendan D.
By far the best BBQ in SWFL. The brisket, pulled pork and baby back ribs are all amazing. Ask for honey with you cornbread- it's the best I've ever tasted!
(5)Frank P.
OK BBQ, great sides. The place was packed but we moved through the line quickly. There are a multitude if sauces, try the smokey mountain. Staff is super nice and pro military. 'Merica!!
(3)Bruce F.
This place is a must have!!! It is the best Barbecue in Southwest Florida. Me and my wife eat there every Wednesday and it seems to only get better and better. The brisket is amazing. Everything taste and is fresh, that have no freezers. Just go for it!!
(5)Rodney S.
Thank God for Missions BBQ for coming to Ft. Myers, by far the BEST bbq in Southwest Florida. No knife needed here, all their meats melt in your mouth and the side's omg, will definitely be a regular!
(5)Nicole B.
Great bbq! Corn bread was dry but the baked beans & mac n cheese were amazing!!!! Ribs fell off the bone clean! Brisket was delicious pulled pork & pulled chicken tasted great! Every person i encountered was super friendly too! I'll be back!
(4)Stewart S.
I found mission BBQ to be a very nice place to go great service unfortunately the rubs that they put on their beef brisket is much too salty I've tried them twice hoping the first time was a mistake but it was not just how they prepare the barbecue but other than the salt define little restaurant
(2)John M.
First time to the restaurant, very clean efficient service, decent prices and food was good. Having lived in Texas for 10 years I am hard pressed to find an equal east of the Mississippi. As a veteran, I would have expected a discount based on how the restaurant promotes itself, but that aside, worth a try.
(3)Alan F.
Thought the pulled pork was pretty good, similar to western nc style. Brisket ok. Little dry. Too much like pot roast. Chopped brisket was unique. May try again. The only sauce i liked was the georgia mustard. The red ones need some fixin..the sides are good. Nothing what I havent already had.

The place is located at the old Benigans location by Boston Market on Cleveland Ave. The atmosphere is great. Lots of space and the perfect place for a large group to have a great time. They have a philosophy of supporting the military and first responders such as the police and EMS workers. There are pictures of military personnel all over the walls as well as a variety of military badges etc all over. A portion of their proceeds supports the Wounded Warrior Project This is great and I applaud these efforts. As far as the food is I had the brisket and the pulled pork plate with the green beans and potato salad. I am not a fan of potato salad where the skins of the potato are left in the salad. The potato salad would be perfect if they would peel the potatoes. The brisket was only okay. It was rather dry and salty. Had an unusual taste but it wasn't bad. Also it came with a piece of cornbread which was dry. Now those green beans were to die for. Have bits of bacon and if you mix it with that North Carolina vinegar very very good. The pulled pork was excellent as well. Very moist and tasty and that Memphis Belle barbecue sauce was probably the best sauce I have ever tasted- sweet and mild. I would give them five stars if they peeled the potatoes and gave me a little bit more moist cornbread and brisket. I would recommend this place and will be back again.
(4)Karen W.
My husband and I ate here for the first time tonight. We ordered the pulled pork, pulled chicken and brisket. All of the meats were extremely tender and flavorful. There are a variety of sauces to please anyone's palate...must try the Georgia mustard! The sides were delicious as well, Mac and cheese was our favorite (5 different cheeses topped with breadcrumbs). Staff was friendly and helpful. Best bbq in ft Myers so far! We will be back!!!
(5)Heath C.
Great food. The turkey is awesome many sauces to choose from. Great sides. Love that is military orientated they stop everything at noon for the national anthem very powerful to feel the patriotic love that I am so glad is still alive. I go twice a week.
(5)Candido R.
First visit to the place....the staff is friendly the atmosphere is casual. Very good place if you want bbq. Better than the chains. Brisket was delicious.
(4)Gerald B.
Stopped in for lunch right after they opened. Loved it. People were friendly and staff continually asked if there was anything they could do for us. Loved seeing all the veterans and first responders eating there.

First thing's first - I'm a Southern boy. I've spent all of my life in the Deep South. From West Virginia to South Carolina to the hills of Tennessee and the swamps of Southwest Florida. That said, barbecue has been at least a weekly staple in my diet! Now, if I'm being honest, I've probably had better barbecue in my life. But never from a chain restaurant! This place is the real deal - white oak smokers running all day, and not a single microwave or freezer in the whole place. My personal recommendation is the lean beef brisket with the Texas Twang sauce. Great flavor, perfect fall-apart consistency, and wonderful texture. I've not found a better brisket in all of Lee County! While the brisket is great, the pulled pork and sliced turkey stand apart, as well. The service is impeccable and the mission is the best. Can't go wrong!
(5)Charlie M.
1st time in...Brisket Sandwich was good. Bread was soft but fell apart. Could not find a BBQ sauce that I liked. Looking forward to my next visit to try a few more items. Also had Baked Beans....seemed to much like a can of baked beans with a few pieces of brisket thrown in. 2nd side I picked Green Beans-Very tasty All food served hot and fast, staff was friendly and helpful. Straws and other condiments are stored in a working toolbox, it looked nice but I don't like having to touch something 1000 people touch just to get a straw or salt/pepper. It's no 4Rivers BBQ.....4Rivers please come south!!!!!
