My Mom catered lunch for my office and she catered from Mario's. A++++++! Not only was the food delicious but they were early, brought everything perfectly the way my Mom ordered it, the gentleman who delivered was super nice, and there was a ton of food. We got caprese salad, sausage and peppers, chicken (lemon kind), and pasta. So good!! Seriously, A+!

I was warned before going in that the staff were not very friendly and that while the deli and meat counters were pretty spectacular, the rudeness of the people was going to overwhelm me. Count me in! I definitely wanted to see for myself. But alas, I was disappointed. The Mario's team was friendly, and made me feel at home. In every city where I find myself I am always looking for a Mario's. I want to find the best butcher, the best produce market, the best bakery and the best seafood shop. If a place doesn't have these four things to offer then I am dubious and reluctant to stay too long. Mario's is a jewel in the Ft. Myers concrete jungle. Plant a few trees in the medians along the ridiculous highways that cover so much of that city and you may just have something special.

Just like the area tomatoes, one has to reset expectations when becoming a FL transplant. Is this place in comparison to DiBruno's of Phila's Italian Market? Not even close. But they do try and it's the best offering of its kind around. Better than Paesano's. For a sandwich, try the Meatball Supreme. Mmm-mm. For dinner later, try the prosciutto and provolone stuffed chicken breasts, their lasagna, or their eggplant rolatini. Nice selection if grocery items not available elsewhere...even DiBruno's cheese spread!

A great neighborhood market. I've been going here for years. Great fresh meats at prices that beat the big supermarket chains. A small selection of fresh vegetables and Italian specialties. Also a superb deli.

This is an AWESOME market. We now live in Cape Coral. We are from Bartlett Illinois and it has been hard to find an Italian market. They have everything I have asked for. If not they order for us. Keep up the good work MARIO'S!

The best Italian market in ft.myers . I won't buy meat and cold cuts anywhere else . Everyone is friendly and accommodating . Beautifully remodeled store .

I had the caprese, my husband had vinny's supreme and we shared. Both were amazing! Caprese is simply fresh tomato, home made mozzarella, basil and garlic oil on a fresh Italian roll. Every part of it was delicious! Vinny's Supreme consists of Boar's head genoa, ham, mozzarella, eggplant parm slice, lettuce and tomato on a fresh hoagie roll dressed with vinegar and oil. This is only our second time there but it won't be our last. If you like deli sandwiches, this place is incredible. You should also check out their dessert case. Man! The cannoli is absolutely delicious!

Best we've got in the area. Good butcher shop with properly handled and cut standard selection. I'd like to see them branch out a bit, but think it's a reflection of the market area. Great deli sandwiches. House made bread is excellent. Good selection of olive oils, pastas, cheeses and other Italian staples. This is your "turn to" for holiday meals - standing rib roasts, lamb racks, etc. - remember to order ahead.

Love this place -- thank you, Yelpers! I've been driving past this store for a couple of years and had never stopped to check it out (such is the pressure of driving 41 at most times during The Season -- stopping along the way just doesn't generally occur to me). Fresh Italian bakery section (yum!)... bought my husband a Napoleon, good grief this thing was so huge he made two desserts out of it! Bread was also excellent. Fresh meats section very tempting, and some good prices -- be aware that they wrap in waxed butcher's paper (the real deal), so you have to use the meat soon or the edges will start to dry out. This is not a plastic pack from the grocery. Lots of specialty stuff like scungilli and six kinds of porcini mushroom packaging that you don't usually find in supermarkets. Then there are the best of the Italian products that you *do* find in supermarkets, like blood orange aranciata from San Pell. They have good products; there is not an infinite amount of room in the store, so they pick and choose what to make available. Was gratified to see the "packaged mozz" they chose to make available was Polly-O. Love that stuff, have done ever since I was a kid. Just finding that tells me these are no-nonsense folk who want you to be able to put good Italian food on the table. From that position of trust I decided to try the AnnA no-boil lasagne noodles that they had selected to make available. Good call, Mario's. Incredibly convenient and the only leftovers disappeared early the next day... ahh, you know how great it is to not have to boil the noodles first? No tearing, no sticking, no extra noodles, you only use what you need, and they are really, really easy to position correctly! All I took care to do was to make sure the noodle was in contact with the moist layers underneath (no bubbles or gaps, you can see through these well enough to tell) and when it came out of the oven it was perfect. Sure, *some* of this stuff is available in local supermarkets, but this is one-stop shopping for excellent Italian ingredients... and did I mention the bakery? Funny, smart staffers, too.

Being as my family is from Italy, this store is so average. Sub standard cold cuts & mozzarella. Bread is not baked from scratch, pastry stale & hard. Owners are not friendly, & no good customer service, from behind the counter to front of store. Cashier is very unpleasant. I will never shop here again.

I went to Mario's. To get some help cutting up a 25 pound ham I bought from a farmer. I ended up in love with a store that gives personal service along with having great products. I left with some wonderful Sopresatto, Fresh Mozzarella that they make every day in the store, pork chops and other wonderful items. I live nearly an hour away, but am already planning my next trip back.

When I went to visit my Mom in Ft. Myers, it was a whole new world for me. I was brought up in Western NY - where I could have dinner at a different deli every night of the week. I relocated to Chicago, and Mom moved to Ft. Myers - but when we got together, the hankering for a taste of NY came back. Mom immediately told me that I'd love Mario's. She told me it had the feel of a back home deli, only it was the size of a small grocery store. I was skeptical. If there is one thing I should know by now, Mom is always right. My eyes almost popped out of my head when we walked in. I was surrounded by all the sights and smells I had until this point, hoarded in my memory. I grabbed a hand basket, and immediately headed to the right - where I stood in front of a 40' deli counter - filled with all the things a kid from NY might crave. After ordering meatballs, several salads, eggplant, and having sandwiches made - we moved over to the butcher shop. We went home with several pounds of hand made sausages. And as if this wasn't enough, my Mom showed me the window, where we could watch them make home made mozzarella...which promptly inspired us to buy a pound and a half for later culinary adventures. Not only did they sell deli and meats, and prepare sandwiches - but they carried several full lines of olive oil, mustard and spices, that until this point I thought only lived on the shelves of NY delis. The guys behind the counter were obviously proud of their fare, and rightly so. I felt like I had wandered back to NY, and picked out all the goodies for a proper deli lunch AND dinner. It wasn't until I walked out the front doors, and saw palm trees that I remembered we were indeed still in Florida. I plan to go back each time I am in Ft. Myers, and fill another shopping cart. My stomach was happy, and so was I. This is a must visit place if you are in Ft. Myers. A true Mom & Pop feel, and delicious food to buy and take home, or to sit down and eat in the small cafe area. OH! And the cannoli! THE CANNOLI! *swoon*

This place is great, I give it three stars for cost of goods, it's very expensive EXCEPT for their daily sub specials. You cannot beat 5.95-6.95 for a giant sub and chips. I've had each one and they were all great! The pastries are very good, the meats are great but groceries, bulk, cheeses and produce are the most expensive in town and they're not that exclusive that they can rationalize the price. Lower the price of goods and get rid of the microwave (fresh is always better) and this place would jump to 5 stars.

I love making a stop here on my way back to Naples from shopping it up in Fort Myers. They updated this place a few years ago so the feel is comfortable and welcoming. Check out the delicious Italian cookies in the bakery department. ..I'll take one dozen please... and don't forget to take home an eggplant or chicken parmigiana sub. Or maybe an Italian because their sandwiches are amazing. Ok ok fine order both because it's gonna get eaten! I can actually pretend, if even for a few fleeting moments, that I'm back up in CT or NY with this place. The lady who rings up my purchase every time looks a bit ornery every time I see her but that's just their way of giving you the full NY experience. Yeah I guess that's it lol.

Nice market all around. Nice meat case. i'm not a fan of pre prepared foods that were fresh out of the oven and now are chilled "leftovers" for a premium price. How can you go wrong with a meatball sub? But everything went wrong. first off I don't care for their rolls too dense and heavy. Meatballs were very generic for an italian market. Could have been out of a freezer bag. They don't roast their own peppers for sandwiches like they do for the sausage and peppers. Mancini jarred peppers don't cut it. Worst of all she microwaved my meatballs and cheese. I said, "Do not nuke my food" three times to fall on deaf ears. I sat at one of the few tables inside, unwrapped this gloppy mess, took a couple of bites of this disheveled heap, balled it up and chucked in the garbage. They make their own maranara sauce. A nice simple sauce. Tastey but way too much salt. (Thank goodness for pasta to soak it up.) It is very pricey compaired to the other market across the river. The extra star is for the potential of other items that I have not had. Maybe I'm spoiled from having a lot of choices in Little Italy in the south end of Hartford Connecticut. But you should be spoiled from an ethnic market.

This is an outstanding Italian deli and grocery store in the Ft. Myers area. My dad mentioned it yesterday and so I checked out their website and suggested that we go for lunch the following day and try their subs/heros. So my folks, my wife and I made a trek there and ordered 3 Italians, a Sicilian, Dried Salami and Mozz salad, gigantic caprese, canolis and eclaires. Everyone agreed that everything was outstanding. The butcher shop looked great and my dad said they bought sirloins there last week and said they were outstanding as well. Nice looking wine shop, too. Plus it was packed! In comparison I would put it up there with my favorite sub shop in Chicago called Fonatano's in Little Italy off of Taylor Strteet which is saying a lot. So if you are near Daniels and 41 I suggest you try this place out.

This was pretty excellent when I went today. It is just before Easter and they have Pizza Rustico made (once a year, only!) We are having a party and grilling out so I looked up the local shop and read the reviews and wow were they right! Awesome customer service, I had a brooklyn special Hero and it was BOSS. I also tried the italian and it was equally awesome. Our strip steaks were really great, excellent quality! We made caprese salad using their tomatoes and fresh, home made mozzarella cheese......booom it was so delicious! I told all the sisters in my family (ITs-a-lotta-sisters) about their pre-made stuff too! Awesome selection if you want to just pick up some lasagna for dinner (there was way too much stuff to list, but it all looked and smelled amazing)

Nice market. Excellent fresh meat section. They also have a good selection of Italian wines, cheeses, olive oil and other Italian cooking necessities. Rather poor produce, however. Prices are reasonable. It's not quite as big and grand as Paesano's Italian Market in Cape Coral, but I think it's the best available in south Fort Myers and you don't have to save up 2 bucks for the bridge fee.

Wonderful assortment of butcher grade meat. Also great homemade dinner dishes, pasta, sauce and cheese. Better options than at the grocery store. Also a lot of specialty cut meats. Make sure you get a number as you come through the door! Family owned!

While vacationing in nearby Estero, Florida we found this fabulous deli. Everything was so good in the prepared foods, the Arancini (rice balls) were excellent.(the closest to what my fiancee makes)stuffed eggplant and the chicken parm, their sauce was fabulous also. And for being Italians the stuffed cabbage was also a great hit. I haven't had them that good since my mom passed away 8 years ago. This place was a great hit with us, can't wait to go back in the spring. Very friendly & outgoing staff, you can tell they really enjoy working here! We visited this place 4 times in 2 weeks time. (lunch at the premises and dinner to go)

This place is fab! They make the best sandwiches! Try any homemade goody out of the case and you will be happy. They have awesome ziti, cabbage rolls, eggplant and chicken cutlets, all the yummy stuff. They also have a great meat market and try a pizza on Fridays yummy and delish! Make me think of NJ and my friends Italian mommas cooking for me.

It's noontime on a Thursday, people line the deli counter five deep clutching their tickets, hungrily awaiting their number to be called. There's discussions in Italian going on to my left along with the requisite hand waving across the counter, plenty of thick Brooklynese in front of the meat counter - sights and smells to behold, all means of Italian goodness line the short grocery aisles, but most are here for the deli action. Freshly baked italian sub rolls are being split open and layered with all flavors of imported meaty and cheesy goodness - hot sopressata, mortadella, capacolla, proscuitto, dry and wet salamis, Dietz and Watson if you have to go domestic. Another deli display of chicken parm, tilapia stuffed with crabmeat, eggplant rollatini, fried sicilian rice balls stuffed with ground lamb, thick local tomatoes stacked with their mozzarella brethren in caprese formation, sweet sopressata stuffed with dry aged provolone, antipastos of every shape and color. The cannolis are almost gone, but there's a selection of italian cookies, tiramisu and other sweets to set you drooling. Dry aged steaks, lamb chops cut to order, hanger steak rolled with mozzarella, awesome! This would not be a good place to start a diet. There are a few tables to sit at if you simply cannot wait to bite into the sandwich you just purchased, but most of the floor space is taken up by the market, so don't mistake this for a restaurant.
