I have now been eating at sukhothai for over 10 years and it is still my favorite that restaurant in south Florida. Last night we went for my sisters birthday and everything was sensational. The owners Eddie and Susie are great and treat you like family and always make sure everything is ok. For appetizers we ordered the nam sod, beef satay, oceans soup, and dumplings. All of the appetizers are delicious and it is hard to choose which ones are best. If you are in a group I would recommend getting a few as they are good for sharing. For our main entrees we got 3 chicken and shrimp pad Thais, a chicken red curry, and a basil chicken. As always my favorite dish by far is the chicken and shrimp pad Thai. I have had hundreds and hundreds of pad Thais and this remains to be my favorite one.

As a Fanatic of Thai Food, this is the BEST THAI PLACE (that I know of) for the QUALITY OF FOOD, PRICE, SERVICE and ATMOSPHERE in the South Florida Area NEAR Ft. Lauderdale. Whether you live West in Weston, or North in Boca, I would highly recommend you go here for a great meal. They give plenty of food and you will not go hungry, that's for sure. They also have a "two" lobster tail dish that is very reasonable but take a bit longer to make. Green Curry sauce is my fav...so I hope you enjoy this restaurant as much as I have for the past 20 years.

They are the best Thai restaurant in ft laud as far as I'm concerned. Excellent Thai iced tea and their curry is phenomenal! Most people judge a Thai restaurant based on their pad Thai which is also up for any challenge.

Excellent customer service. Food was decent. Not a bad choice, however nothing really wow out of the extraordinary. But a good choice overall.

This restaurant has been here for years and would benefit from a moderate makeover. The food is adequately good. Their duck was slightly tough and the whole steamed snapper was ok. Spring rolls tasted good but greasy. Pad Thai was good. Service is very good. Parking convenient.

I have lived in Southeast Asia for 4 years and have YET found a Thai restaurant that hadn't Americanized their Thai food offerings. There is so much more to Thai food than Pad Thai noodles. Well that changed when I went here for dinner - it literally brought me back to Thailand and their amazing culture. I ordered all my dishes Thai Spicy which IMO is the only way to really experience Thai food. I started with Tom Kha w/ Chicken (Tom Yum with Coconut Milk). The flavors were incredible. My entree was Thai Red Curry w/ Beef over rice. Excellent flavor and the curry was not overpowering..... A+ To finish off I had fried bananas with Coconut ice cream - the best dessert from ANY culture :) The wait staff were either 100% Thai or 1/2 Thai and their open - always smiling friendly culture was on full display. They can suggest the level of spice you can handle but don't be afraid of ordering your food Thai Spicy - delicious. The service was excellent and had the owner's wife come over to ask how the meal was going. We ended up talking about my experiences in Thailand for a half hour. I will drive out of my way to visit again. Could not recommend this place higher.

A dear friend and new work colleague was my guest a few weeks back using a Groupon at a Thai restaurant in Wilton Manors. Much to my dismay the dinner was a disaster due to poor customer service and tepid mediocre food. My poor colleague surrendered scandalization for sympathy and told me she had the best Thai place in town to go to and all we had to do was come one day with her. Today was the day and I was pleased as punch to be the guest! Don't meals somehow taste just a li'l bit better when someone pays? The other plus is I think she's been a regular customer here since their inception, everyone from the management to the owner who arrived later knew her on a first name basis; which was great for me because it snagged us a free dessert!! Mmmm coconut ice cream with sprinkles surrounded by deep friend banana in a chocolate syrup laced pastry crust.... I'll be going back for that alone! The menu (singular ones for lunch and dinner) is chock full of authentic Thai goodies and I would truly like to try them all. . . . My endearing co-worker treated me to chicken and veggies in a truly velvety unctuous basil sauce that I wish they sold by the bottle; it was good! We also tried both white and brown rice to see how the flavor of both sauce and veggies contrasted and there were definite distinctions - both delicious. I'm anxious to return and I also adored the cute funky little old part of Fort Lauderdale where the restaurant is located; it's a veritable bee hive of cool stores, consignment shops, bars and other places to eat.

It appears the rumor was true. Unfortunately my favorite go to Thai place is apparently closed. Their phone is disconnected and doors locked during normal business hours over the last few days. They gave no notice and with no sign or information posted at the door, I can only speculate that we have to find a new favorite. I post this with a sad heart and can only hope this is just a brief hiatus for this beloved local gem.

This place has a great selection of food, great service, and the atmosphere in which to enjoy it. It's my favorite Thai restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. Suzi is always ready to greet with a smile and a witty comment. Their peanut dressing is the best I've ever had. You must try it!

  • Sam S.

Perhaps I ordered wrong. My friends all seemed far more delighted with their meals. I recall that, years ago, the food seemed more flavorful. My tofu dish was very bland. Reasonable prices; professional servers, eager to please; ample parking. Blah decor, pathetic beer list. May try again in future, but there are so many new places popping up nearby...

UPDATE- Same server tonight and service was amazing! She was spot on and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our whole meal! Food was fantastic and this is now our new favorite Thai place! WOW! Love it!!

WONDERFUL! Did the Thai test and went for the ever popular Chicken Pad Thai, NAILED IT! Not too spicy, not too sweet, nowhere near bland, absolutely lovely. Just the tip: The owner is a mature Thai woman with a vary stern vibe and very sweet comments. Compliments all around from a little Thai lady who you know can probably kick your ass feel nice. Behave yourselves accordingly...

When you look at what surrounds the place you wonder, "is this gonna be great food, or will I regret this." But I was pleasantly surprised! The place was packed to capacity and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals. The ambiance is wonderful with low lights and asian inspired decor. The food, yummy! I'd go back here again and again. One negative though, our waiter took too much time to come back and check on my table, it happens, I'll still go back.

The BEST Thai in Ft. Lauderdale. The peanut dressing is the best I have ever had. The veggie tofu red curry is so good I can't stop eating it! This is where locals go to eat Thai.

    (5)
  • Brenna K.

This is my favorite Thai place. The Thai red curry is amazing and comes in a large quantity. The pad Thai is also really good. Mix the pad Thai with their rice and it's very tasty even tho it's death by carbs. If you are into Thai ice tea theirs is one of the best I had. They are also open for lunch with cheaper prices!

The food was wonderful and the menu was filled with great traditional Thai goodness. We found the staff to be quite friendly which made for a terrific evening. I had the red hot and sweet sauce with chicken and loved it.

Sukho must be Thai for "this sucks" Maybe I just went on an off night but I don't understand what everyone is so excited about. I agree with Moni L, not that impressive. The menu says that Thai Connoisseurs judge a Thai restaurant by it's pad thai. I agree and the best I can say about the pad thai here was that it was decent, but i"ve had a lot better for less money. I also judge any Asian restaurant by how many Asians eat there and I saw none. That doesn't mean the food is necessarily, but just not authentic (most likely Americanized to cater to a different palette). We had the pad thai and the green curry with pork; both were pretty bland. The service was decent but a little slow. The presentation was good and I did enjoy the plum wine. Many have raved about the decor and I have to agree it was nice. The only bad thing about the physical building is its location, as the parking lot is a real pain to get into if you don't know exactly where you are going. My advice is to pass - there are many better, more authentic Thai restaurants that are less expensive. That is, unless you like Americanized Thai food (which some people do) then this place is probably right up your alley.

I went here for lunch a few weeks ago for the first time and the food and service were great. I had the Chicken and Spicy Green Beans and it was delicious. Eddie, the GM, is very friendly and I will definitely go back when I'm on the Ft. Lauderdale area in the future.

My girlfriend wanted to have dinner before classes start tomorrow and was craving Thai. As usual, I whip out my iPhone and start up urbanspoon. Sukho Thai comes up as #2 in "Best Thai restaurants in Fort Lauderdale". Note that this place is in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. The atmosphere was romantic but maybe a bit too dim which made me feel sleepy. Service was prompt and exceeded my expectations. I ordered Tom Yum Goong as always (see my other reviews) which was ~$8. I was disappointed when I found out there was only 3 pieces of shrimp. After examining closer, I noticed they were jumbo sized shrimp so that made the price more reasonable. For my main course I ordered Massaman Curry-Pork (~$12), my girlfriend ordered Green Curry-Beef (~$12) which was a bit too spicy for me tonight. The portions were very reasonable and they weren't afraid to give out white rice. I probably had 4-5 bowls worth of rice. Even though I was feeling content half-way through the curry, I ended up finishing everything because it was amazingly delicious. Maybe this is why it is Zagat rated as well. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic setting that's easy on anyone's budget.

Sukhothai is where it's at!!!! They are the best Thai restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale. They offer a wide variety of thai dishes. And trust me, you won't be disappointed. My favorites there is the chicken satay, basil garlic beef, seafood pad thai, pad see ew, thai fried rice, and panang curry. The dishes are the perfect portion size to share. This restaurant is the perfect place to bring a date or come in a group.

  • Carlos Z.

The food was delicious and I didn't have to worry about not getting enough food for lunch. They give you the perfect portion when it comes to eating out. A nice date spot right by the beach with a beautiful environment and friendly staff. They make the BEST beef fried rice I've had, they got me hooked. I loved my experience there!

Seeing as it's the place I went on the first date with my wife, it's got a special little place in our heart. That said, the food's good too! Very friendly service. Even if you haven't been there in a few years, the maitre'd still puts off an aire of familiarity to you that doesn't seem forced. The Pad Thai is excellent and the portions are huge. Nice place to have a first date and still romantic enough to go back to after you've been married 5 years and have 2 kids. We likes! If it weren't for the history for the place, it'd get 4 stars, but you know.

Went there with my girlfriend for lunch cause our original choice was closed and I'm glad we did. Food is great, very flavorful, probably the best thai food I ever had. We went for fried rice with chicken and Panang Curry with shrips, both excellent. Also the staff is really friendly and welcoming.

This is one of my most favorite restaurants. I have been to Sukhothai many times. This is family-owned and run, so the host and wait-staff really do want you to have a good time! I always feel welcomed like I'm part of the family too! My favorites are the red and green curry dishes, but my friend always gets the Pad Thai. This is an excellent place to dine with a date, but even when I'm alone, I love to go to Sukhothai and have a great dinner. The place is beautiful. It's fairly dark inside with candle-light everywhere, which makes for the look of fine dining. However, it's not very expensive.

Service is very accommodating and the food is good quality. Another reviewer complained about the Pad Thai and I cannot comment on that because I don't order Pad Thai out. They have a nice selection of vegetarian dishes - the eggplant w/ red curry is very nice. I had the red curry shrimp and found it extremely tasty. This place is cozily romantic and I will go back many times

Went for dinner last night, and got seated right away on a Saturday night, no problems (the place was busy though, which was a good sign). The service was very prompt. Someone came over to take our drink order pretty quickly. We started with an order of the dumplings which were very good! For the main course, two of us split an order of the pad thai, which was delicious. I'm looking forward to trying the different curry dishes soon!

My fiancé and I order for take-out on the regular! In fact, it's a once-a-week addiction! We usually stick to our usual order (myself with the chicken red curry and him with the green curry), but the other menu options should not be ignored! The tom-kha soup (I usually order it with tofu) is mouth watering, and the pad thai is so nommy that it's sinful. I made the mistake of trying to recreate one of their curries at home.....huge fail. Not only did I feel like I was cheating on my Sukho, but it also just was not the same! Like I said, we order here for take-out at least once a week....I think there's crack in the food...It's just so freaking good!

I like Sukhothai. I don't love it exactly, but it is close to where I live and when I have a Thai craving I can eat here. The happy hour special is really good - 2 bucks off every food item (apps, entrees, fried rice) and 2 for 1 beer, wine, and sake. It's also not a cheap happy hour pour, either. Expect a big full glass of house red or white to enjoy. Can't beat that. Soups: My fiance swears the Tom Kha soup is out of this world. I recently tried the Thai Noodle Soup with beef and it was awful. I had to ask for fish sauce and spicy red pepper just to finish eating it because the broth was super-bland. That was a huge bummer because Thai beef noodle soup is a go-to for me. Entrees: I can recommend the pork with mixed veggies. The sauce was light but flavorful. The decor could use some updating but I rarely judge Thai places by how they look.

Sorry, $24 for fried rice and soup takeout is too expensive... the rice was very dry and the shrimp was old and rubbery, NOT fresh tasting at all for true Thai food. Now I remember why I stopped going there. Years ago, they were great... theey lost their mojo a long time ago. Happy to pay for excellent food, but this was very poor quality Thai

The first Thai food I ever ate was from here back in the late 90's. I was hooked! I've been to many other Thai places since, and was fortunate enough to be nearby it the other night about 830 PM. We walked in, and were promptly seated by "Mom". Our server promptly greeted us, and took our drink order. Even though I knew what I as going to order (Thai red curry with pork, Thai hot) I still glanced at the menu. All the prices were very reasonable. I ordered my "usual" and my partner ordered Chicken Pad Thai. The portions are HUGE and very flavorful. It's nice to know after 23 years, they are still family owned, as I am a firm supporter of locally owned businesses. Is the decor outdated? Sure, but I'll take freshly prepared tasty food over bling any day. And yes, they do NOT do Sushi.. if you want Sushi, go to a Sushi restaurant. They do one thing here. Great Thai food.

Very good for reasonable price. We were for lunch. We had green curry with shrimps and a pad Thai with chicken: both were delicious !!!! Waitress very polite and smiling, very good service. The cook came at the end of our lunch to ask if we liked our meals! Of course. We will come back for sure.

This place is awesome, tried just about everything in the past 10years of eating here and everything on the menu is great and fresh. Specially the pad Thai, tastes great and very large portions. I've tried other places and they can't compare to Sukho Thai.

Don't let the exterior fool you...this place is wonderful. Exceptional service and great food. Full of flavor and finally a place where when you say "spicy", it's spicy. Truly authentic thai.

Ft Lauderdale has it's fair share of mediocre Thai restaurants and I've overlooked Sukothai for many years and it's literally in my back yard. The menu has a good variation on the Thai standards and some unique dishes not found elsewhere. We started with tempura calamari, not really Thai but it was excellent. Good food nice atmosphere friendly owners make this a nice weekday eatery. The wait staff albeit friendly was overworked. Only 2 servers were on the floor for a large restaurant who got busy on a Monday night. Keep this place in mind if you want decent Thai food.

Still one of the best Thai restaurants I have ever been to. The 4th of July I had the Sauted Seafood combo in a light ginger broth - absolutely AMAZING! I have never had anything that was less than stellar at this place and I wish they would open one in Chicago!! Outstanding food, excellent and friendly service and a real fun and friendly owner. If you live or visit Ft Lauderdale, this place is not to be missed!

  • Danielle R.

Why is it so dark in here? Black walls, black roof, black floor. It also has an old carpet smell, like dirty feet, reminiscent of the airport security lines. The decor other than the black is very authentic. Thai lunches priced around $7.95 for Green Curry Chicken, served with rice, and just enough food. We went around 2 in the afternoon and there were 4 or 5 other tables of patrons all over the age of 65 [whatever happened to Early Birds?]. Food came out in less than 10 mins it was very tasty. I probably will go back b/c it's so close to my house, but I might opt for takeout.

Sometimes the best things are right in front of you when you least expect it. I have been in this plaza many times for the sushi place, but never noticed this gem existed. My date and I walked in, and the atmosphere was perfect for an intimate dinner. The staff greeted us right away, and took us to our seats. The menu is awesome for a vegetarian (and vegan). They have many tofu and vegetable meals to choose. I ordered the tofu hot / sweet red chili sauce. It has a hot / sweet chili sauce, which includes peppers red onion and vinegar. It was soooo good. Overall, this place is awesome. The staff and food was awesome. If in the area, I definitely want to come back and try more of their dishes.

I think this is one of the few places in south Florida that serves great Thai food. The portions are large, the food is freshly made to order, and most importantly; tastes authentic. The service is good. The food is reasonably cheap. It's a small and unnoticed place tucked in a strip mall, but I think its been there for a long time. And now I know why. I try and get here whenever I'm in Broward.

I have been back to SukhoThai for dinner and lunch many times since my last review. I find that I crave not only the Red Sweet Chili with beef (Thai Hot), but also the Panang Chicken (Hot). So what has changed to make me upgrade my review rating? Well, I made a mistake. I am the one that usually orders for my friend and I; and I over explained the piquancy to the server. So, instead of my friend receiving his Fresh Green Basil with beef as a HOT dish, he received it as a THAI HOT dish. He was quite red after the first bite. Even though it was my mistake, they replaced the dish for me. That, for me, was great customer service. I was very appreciative that this was done without any conflict of any sort. And, for simplicity's sake, I learned to only say "mild, medium, hot, and Thai hot" rather than trying to assign a number scale to the piquancy.

It's been here, snuggled in the back part of the Gateway strip mall for years, which longevity is itself a testimony to its loyal customer base. The good points about dining here are that a.) It's spacious. b.) general ease of parking, and c.) you can order your food from being basically bland, a spicy mild to a Thai red hot; and it usually comes exactly as ordered. The food offerings are pretty much common to most Thai restaurants as are the preparations, portions and presentations. The staff is friendly enough but seemingly somewhat detached with less than professional attentiveness. The ambiance is nice and the fresh orchids on the table lend a pleasing touch. Sukothai has a reputation of being family run operation run by "Mother Sussie," her son Eddie and frequented now or formerly by the actress "mother of the Brady Bunch" as well as Lee Majors though such is meaningless to me and I can't vouch for any those rumors first hand. On the downside, a carefully look revealed to me what I consider to be an issue or two with regards to cleanliness and, when I peeked into the kitchen area observed what I considered a rather disorganized discomfiting mess; a situation all too common with area Asian restaurants. Following a lead warning by a fellow Yelper, I did check with the online Department of Professional Regulations, and sure enough, it identifies a long history of various food and sanitary violations with 17 listed as "critical" as well as 19 "non-critical." myfloridalicense.com/ins… In all, I can't argue with the taste, flavor and my satisfaction with their food, however, the questions I have from my observations and the public records with regards to cleanliness prevents me from being a fan, particularly when there are so many other Thai restaurant offerings in the local Lauderdale area.

Always stop here when in the area, food is consistent good, staff friendly and efficient, don't know why the Yelp search page says it is closed .... Ate there on 10/18/13

I like the look of the inside for a Japanese/thai place a lot more spacious than most Asian places. The service was very good. The food was unimpressive. I got the pad Thai because i love pad Thai and the reviews on here helped me decide. With that being said it wasn't good. I woody say it was bad though, it was edible but the worst I've ever had my friend who never had pad thai before liked it. She got the pa naang I tried some it was okay the sauce was a little more watery than I'm used to. I don't think I'll go back it was an alright meal but nothing at all to write home about.

We have been eating at Sukhothai for years, but after a recent meal, we will probably never eat there again. Granted, we went there on Christmas day after a movie, but it was not crowded. We ordered the steamed dumplings and they were cold and hard and the edges of the dough that they were wrapped in was hard, as if they had been sitting out for several days. I called the waitress over and she took them back to the kitchen, only to return about a minute later with the SAME PLATE of half eaten dumplings that had been "reheated", probably in a microwave. My mother ordered the red thai curry with shrimp. She received a large bowl of sauce, a few bamboo shoots, a few strands of pepper and 5 tiny shrimp--all for $18.95. I asked the waitress for some hot sauce as everything was very bland, and when she set the hot sauce on the table, her tie dragged through the bowl of red thai curry. She looked at the tip of her tie and then looked at me, as if it was MY fault that she dragged her tie through the food, and walked off. She never offered a replacement bowl of curry. I felt bad complaining, as it was Christmas, but I should have said something at the time. Unfortunately, I am looking for a new favorite Thai restaurant. Any suggestions?

I think this place has the BEST Thai food in Ft. Lauderdale. I used to live in the neighborhood where this restaurant is located (within walking distance) and would eat there all the time. I have since moved from there, and although I live more than 10 miles away, I visit the restaurant once a week or so because I CRAVE their green curry with chicken. The owners and staff are very friendly, and I have never had any problem getting my order quickly, fresh and hot. A must visit if you are in the Ft. Lauderdale area. And, they are close to the beach!

After dining at Thai Spice, it made me appreciate Sukhothai that much more. First and foremost, the service is far better than Thai Spice. The servers are much nicer and more approachable. The waiters are polite and will honor nearly any request. The ambience is nice. There is ample room for tables. We bring our children with us and they waitstaff is so friendly. The food also tastes more authentic and the flavors and spices are really there. Let me re-emphasize the authenticity element. They don't serve steaks. They don't serve pork chops. They don't have recommended wine pairings. This is an honest to goodness authentic legitimate Thai restaurant. This is the best Thai restaurant in the area in my opinion.

Not much to recommend about this strip mall Thai place except it was easy to get a table on a Saturday night. Place has a weird smoky vibe, from the table top grills I guess but the smell was off putting. the summer rolls were just ok, won ton soup pretty good. The salad has a peanut flavored dressing, very strange. Pad Woon Sen was too sweet and the noodles were soggy and gross. Service was good.

Visited for the first time last week while up in the area for a screening. Walking in, we were a little weirded out by the decor (very dark, kind of old and screaming for repairs/a good cleaning.) Staff was nice and we were seated/served quickly - it was mid week and pretty late so not a peak time. The first thing my bf pointed out was a HUGE HOLE in the ceiling over us - kind of gross and unsanitary (now seeing some of the other reviews on inspection issues, am not surprised!) The place definitely needs an over haul. The food was decent - not quite prepared the best (sauce was lumped on, not mixed in right and hard to do yourself b/c it was a little too gloppy) but the taste was not bad. The peanut sauce was thin and weak as compared to all other Thai places. Noodles were a large portion and cooked nicely - a bit bland though. One star off because they refused to take their own coupon (no bar code, numbers, or anything- just said 15% off taken from their website.) They said it had to be printed, not from a phone - which is ridiculous. (We were an hour from home and showed up last minute after finding their website on our phone!) Besides, why waste ink - everyone is electronic these days , even bar coded vouchers etc! 2 stars because aside from the coupon issue, the staff was very nice and service was quick :)

Alright, overall. I love papaya salad but this place managed to make the worst papaya salad I ever had. Overdone with fish sauce, smelled fishy but no good flavour. Pad see ew and Pad Thai were pretty good although they skipped the egg in both even though we requested that the egg be kept in the dish. Service is mediocre. When we took left overs home, they packed in containers in such a way that it leaked all over in the car through the paper bag. Car still stinks like fish sauce. I will find another thai place next time.

Was highly recommended to try this Thai restaurant as I love Thai food ALOT but this place was just okay. Have had better for sure. My favorate thai restaurant at this time in south florida is 'Thai World' in Pembroke Pines.

I have been visiting Sukhothai since before the Internet was popular (1995) and always enjoy the fried wontons, pad thai and shrimp dinners. The food and ambiance is excellent here.

Overall this place was pretty good. I am between a 3 and 4 star rating. They have a really great happy hour where you can get 2 for 1 drinks and $2 off just about everything on the menu. The Tom Kha soup was by far my favorite part of our dinner. I also had the spicy chili pork which was also good. My fiancee had the beef noodle soup which was severely lacking in flavor much to our dismay. I still believe that Ricky Thai Bistro in North Miami is the best Thai food restaurant in South Florida. The prices are unbeatable and the food just rocks. Unfortunately we no longer live as close as we used to and Sukhotahi is the closest in proximity to us. I will definitely go back to Sukhotahi because of the great happy hour, but all things equal, I would choose Ricky Thai 10 time out of 10.

Cuisine type:Heavily Americanized Thai Som tam- I think this must have been made and stored because the papaya was pretty limp and not in that freshly pounded way. Good dressing though. No dried shrimp available to make som tam thai Nam sod- tasty, some unsavory (tendon) bits of chicken, but overall good. Used red onion which is traditional. Some fresh cilantro as well and I was surprised at the liberal use of fresh ginger. Red curry chicken- I feel like this was red curry made by a non-thai cook who picked up a can of coconut milk and commercial red curry paste at the local supermarket. I had to request a side of fish sauce and basil (which the waitress seemed impressed that I noticed it needed basil). Thai ice tea- probably the most authentic item. Tea was a bit warm so needed quite a bit of stirring to cool it down. Tap water- tastes like crap. not specific to the restaurant (I'm not from Ft lauderdale) Yes, the owner/hostess is very cordial, chic, and cute. She's the only reason this got 3 instead of 2 stars. Bottom line: If you enjoy Americanized food, then this place is great. If you're more of a foodie-type that strives for stuff near to what you would find in the country of origin, then skip this place.

Food not spicy enough! This place was full on the night before new year's eve. We came with another couple who are regulars here. We started off with soups, the ocean and tom yum. Both were savory and full of shrimps and squids rings, but lacked serious spiciness. Also, ordered two orders of papaya salads and they forgot it. Our entrees were hot thai basil with chicken, fried squid rings with the green beans, and massaman curry with shrimp. I really liked the fried squid rings with green beans, so there's the extra star for you. You can't go wrong with the fried squid. Jasmine rice is served separately as the server comes around to your table and uses a spoon from a large silver pot to scoop rice onto your plate. Rice portion is very generous and you can asked for seconds. Overall, I've had better thai food back home and the other couple was disappointed with the hot thai basil dish. She mentioned that it did not taste as good as it normally does, could it be a different cook or kitchen is off its spicy mojo tonight?! This place is very popular with the locals but if you do venture here, tell them you want that extra spiciness.

I just wish I lived closer : ( I've been traveling for weeks an craving a good meal and this one exceeded my expectations! Unfortunately this was the worst Thai food I've had in Broward county. I was really disappointed with just about everything- green papaya salad, mee krob, spring rolls, dumplings, soft shell crab, green curry, fresh hot basil. It all lacked the wondrous complexities of great Thai food. Everything tasted watered down and bland. Thai is probably my favorite cuisine and this really didn't do it for me. I much prefer Siam House and Thai Spice.

My husband and I decided to finally try this place after a recent event at GalleryONE. We always wondered what was going on inside since the exterior windows are all covered in thick, black tinting. We walked into find a pretty large room, nicely decorated, with friendly staff and playing elevator muzak. Both of us started off with the wonton soup for chicken which is apparently great for kids, as the menu stated. It was a good bowl of soup with chunks of chicken with more broth than I could finish. Then I went for some steamed tofu with the Fresh Basil preparation. The basil taste was a little overpowering, but maybe that's how it was supposed to be? The tofu was cooked exactly how I liked it and was served with mixed vegetables. My husband had the green curry beef, which he enjoyed. With the entrees came a heaping serving of white rice...not sure if there was a brown rice option, but it wasn't automatically offered to us. Overall, a good experience and I would probably give this 3 1/2 stars if I could. They also seemed to have some great deals on wine. Worth checking out if you've been to Heart Rock Sushi one too many times and need a break.

Back where I come from, you don't eat at a restaurant that is in a strip mall - unless it's a pizza joint. Here in Florida, EVERYTHING is in a strip mall. I went in to Sukothai not expecting much because of the looks of the strip mall - just like every other one. But upon entering the restaurant, I was transported to another world! The ambiance is amazing - just like the inside of a temple, on the darker side, very soothing, and it seems like it should smell of incense. The owner - a petite woman- greeted us with a genuine smile at the door. My husband and I watched as other guests walked in hugging and kissing her. There seemed to be a lot of regulars - a good sign. As we waited for our food to arrive, we watched the owner flit from table to table talking with the customers - "How's Rob doing in college this year?" "When do you leave on your cruise?" "Why isn't your mom with you this evening?" But she didn't just stop to talk to the people she knew; she even came to our table to see how our experience was going, how we found out about the restaurant, and could she get us some more water. That, my friends, is service. Too many restaurants these days are owned by faceless wallets with a constantly rotating staff and no connection to their customers. I am more of a fan of the restaurant that knows who you are and enjoys being around. Sukothai has an extensive menu. I had trouble deciding. We settled on a crispy duck with red curry sauce and the pad thai. My husband can never see anything but the word "duck" on any menu, so that dish was a no brainer. I'm a sucker for any type of noodle, but I shy away from pad thai because it is so boring. My pad thai was anything but boring! My husband and I practically fought over both dishes and nothing was left for lunch the next day. (So sad for me.) We have been back numerous times since then, and everything we have tried has been good. One thing to note - take their advice, when they say it's spicy, they mean it. They don't do wimpy spicing when they cook. And, best of all, when we go now, we get hugs as we enter!!

I came here Friday night with my friend. I had never been here before, but she has. The decor is pretty and quiet. We started off sharing the Ocean Soup for two. That was such a Delicious Thai soup and I was super impressed with the taste. It had shrimp, scallop, squid and vegetables. For the main course, I had the sauteed squid and Mixed Vegetables. This was in a light brown sauce and so healthy. My friend had the same thing with Chicken. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. For dessert we shared the Lychee Nut, which was tasty. I would definitely come back here again, I really enjoyed it.

We shared the Massmann curry and Vegie-Fried Tofu Pad Thai. Each was delightful, as was the service. Best of all, at the end of the meal the server not only did us the courtesy of boxing-up our leftovers, she provided an extra serving of white rice with each. Very kind of her!

I am 21 years old, and I have been eating at Sukhothai since I was small enough to fall asleep on two chairs pushed together after dinner. The owner Susie is wonderful. She remembers and greets my dad and I whenever we walk in. The food is incredible. In my opinion, Sukhothai is the epitome of great thai cuisine. I've never found better, and I doubt I ever will! I highly recommend the fried wonton appetizer and the chicken fried rice. Yum :) I love Sukhothai!

Authentic Thai restaurant run by a very nice Thai family (the lady who runs it is very sweet). It's funky and hip inside, with smooth jazz playing overhead. Obviously, the food is made to order, as it takes a considerable amount of time for food to be prepared and delivered to your table. I don't have an issue with that, but they should come to your table and let you know how much longer you'll be waiting (especially when hungry!). After appetizers and soup, the dirty plates sat forever, as it seemed they were understaffed (Sunday evening). I didn't see a busboy, which is strange - it's the least expensive employee, and they keep the water glasses filled and the tables clean and clear. The main dishes also took forever to come, and we spent 1hr40min for dinner with kids, which is way too long. The good news is that all the food was super tasty and fresh. I would definitely come back unless I was in a hurry. A couple more employees would go a long way here.

I've been visiting Sukhothai almost since the day I moved to South Florida nearly 13 years ago. Always have a great meal. And the owner, Susie, is a doll. Never been disappointed. Sure, the menu is a fairly common, 'American friendly' Thai line-up, but that's fine. This place always is on my 'where do you wanna eat tonight...???' list. This is a restaurant where they do the basics, i.e., all of the Thai standards, quite well. Again, the menu probably isn't going to challenge your palette or attempt to educate you on the entire lexicon of Thai cuisine. But if you're looking for a good pad Thai, pad see ew, etc. - well, I've never had a bad experience here. Definitely will be returning again and again and again.

I'm not sure what other yelpers are ordering but I've been to Sukhothai three times so far and every single time it has been incredible. I've had to following dishes: wonton soup (the best I've ever had), salad with peanut dressing, the red chili dish from the spicy menu, basil curry dish, pad see ew, and pad thai. You can ask them to bring out different level spicy sauces if you want to add some heat to your dish. My bf got the thai hot...seriously Man vs Food spice but actually delicious! Atmosphere is definitely quite but has a zen feel. Not good for a big group but perfect for a date. The owner's son, Eddie, (?) was our server and he was hysterical! He also took great care of us and made us feel special. A new addition is their happy hour. SOOOO amazing! It's every day until 7pm. You get BOGO drinks or half off bottles of wine and $1 off food items. So we had 1 salad, 2 huge entrees with leftovers, and a bottle of wine and it was like $40. We will be back many more times. Thanks Sukkothai :)

I have been going here for a while and never been disappointed. One of the best thai restaurants I been too. The owner is always there, greeting customers and making sure everything is going ok... Ambiance is amazing. Perfect place for a date night... Their panang curry is so deliciously good. One of my favorite dishes on the menu. I have tried their basil curry and pad thai all very good.

I agree with Danny D. This is truly the best Thai food, at least in North America. This little place is hidden in a kind of run-down shopping center, although the stores inside are pretty high-end generally. The service is generally pretty great here. The decor is pretty simple, and the lighting is dim. It can be kind of a romantic ambiance if you want it to be. For me, the wonton soup is a must-have. The wontons are made with chicken inside, and the broth that in which they are immersed is to die for. I never go there without having this soup as an appetizer. I am stuck in a rut...I always get the chicken with cashew nuts. However, there is such a wide variety of dishes and pretty much every dish comes with the choice of chicken, beef, or shrimp. I love this dish because of the broth it's in. It's incredible. I love to cover the rice in it and just enjoy. I love this place.

Service was horrible, thank god we weren't in a rush but come on dude, I asked you for water 4 times, fried wontons were a joke, tom yum is never tasty or spicy enough, bf's red duck curry was basically inedible, I can say I enjoyed my Pad Kee Mao with chicken spicy, but spicy is never spicy enough. negative ghostrider on headin back here again. suck so thai

Very friendly staff, with a good choice of authentic cuisine. The prices are very fair, and if you order the satay appetizer they actually bring a flame to the table you can roast them on. The bathrooms are just ok, but the food is really good. I can honestly say the best i've had and I have tried quite a few places. They also serve large portions and offer rice with every dish. Great dinner spot!

My business colleague and I purchased a Groupon coupon that gave us a discount of about half. The experience would have been worthwhile even if we had to pay double the usual rate rather than half. Eddie Watana, the general manager and owner's son, took care of us like we were his family. He guided us to the restaurant (their sign was down temporarily due to remodeling), suggested awesome dishes to order, sat with us to tell us about the business, and gave us hugs as we left. Within minutes, he was like a friend. The food and service were great. Eddie's personalized attention and passion for our experience were even better.

I've been here numerous times over the years with friends... now I wish I never set foot in the place. Sukhothai has by far the most violations on the Florida food inspection website than any other establishment. myfloridalicense.com/ins… myfloridalicense.com/ins… They truly have NO REASON for such terrible inspections. Sukhothai is a neighborhood favorite for lots of people from Victoria Park but they REALLY need to clean up their act. If more people looked up food inspections on this place they would be closed down... get it together people.

You know that snide feeling you get when you get the last available table on a Saturday night, and there's a line/wait after you sit? That was us on Saturday night at Sukhothai! It was packed! I loved the decor, the black and white pix of Thailand...tea lights on every table, perfect for couples, friends and families! Service was prompt and friendly. We ordered: vietnamese summer roll - the unoriginal kind, but still good. Spicy sweet sauce instead of peanut sauce chicken pad thai - surprisingly not tooo greasy. Pass. chicken massman curry with sweet potato (medium) - not spicy at all for me but chili flakes were provided :) thai iced tea - i had requested for it to be less sweet, so my ingenious waiter added some ice tea to the mix...since the mix is ready made. Thanks to him, I am not going to be diabetic soon. If I am in the FLL area and craving Thai food, I know where to go! :) Tip-bits: Generous with rice Thai servers = genuine Thai food Bathrooms on both sides of restaurant Satay appetizer comes out with a flaming gimmick ( I didn't order it though)

Been coming here once in a while over several years. It used to be good. Used to have orchids on each table, now just on a large display in the front area. Used to have interesting soft lighting and a wall with openings between the rooms. Now the ambiance has changed. :( Room very open, lighting not good, employees don't understand English. Pad Thai not good now, hot tea was not hot and was flavorless. I was embarrassed to have brought my client here for lunch. The only constant from all the years is the owner "Suze" still quickly running around, seemingly unaware of the restaurant's stagnant demeanor. No thanks! needs major updating here.

Wife and I have eaten here several times and I have at least one lunch at Sukho Thai a week or every two weeks. Service is alwqys prompt and with a smile. Orders are accurately taken and delivered. Followup during the meal is not intrusive but just right. Meals are well prepared by actual Thai chefs / cooks. Meal preparation seems to be intuitive and is relatively fast, even during crowded seatings. The atmosphere is understated. It isn't cheezy as some Asian restuarants can be. There are some tasteful family photos from the old country on the walls which add to the authenticity. Parking is plentiful as is seating for a busy Friday night. This would be a Four Bullet rating if not for the friendly nature of the resturant's owner / manager Eddie. Eddie knows everyone even if everyone does not know Eddie. He is a gregarious fellow with a smile that will light up the room. If you are a 49er's fan, he may seat you near the window or join you for dinner. A great spot for a business lunch, an intiment dinner or for the family. The Pad Thai is the best, and the Chicken Curry (red or yellow) is wonderful . Eddie lifts the dining experience to Five bullets.

I am sorry but I must be a snob when it comes to thai food. We had a pad thai and a fish dish from chef special menu. My pad thai was soggy flooded with the pad thai sauce. My husband dish was supposely to have basil but it had none! I am not sure what authentic pad thai is in Thailand but this was very different to all pad thai I had at restaurants around the West Coast. Maybe it was bad because I had a groupon? Maybe not. I also got a tom kha gai (coconut milk soup). It was waterly but little better than the soggy sauce flooded pad thai. I should better stick with thai food in the West Coast, at least for right now.

Darn good Thai food, and it does not even serve sushi, can you believe it? I never thought I would find a place out here that servedTthai food and only Thai food. Went on a weekday after work ended early. The place was mostly empty with about five tables taken. Waitstaff were perfect, being there when we needed them and not being overly intrusive. The curry was very good, and I got an interesting dish. I cannot remember the name, but it had basil in the title (surprise!) and was basically a curry without coconut milk. I would prefer a curry, but this was really good and I especially recommend it if you do not like coconut milk. We ordered some wine to go with the food, a Bonny Doon Riesling. Every Thai place I've been to here insists on serving the wine in a cold ice bucket with plenty of ice cold water to keep the wine (straight out of the refrigerator) at near freezing temperatures. I am guessing this stems from the fact that South Florida surpassed Death Valley last year as the hottest place in America (fact not recently verified, please check that fact at your own leisure) and even the massive amount of air conditioning cannot keep people cool. Still, wine served that cold can hardly be tasted. To fight this, I typically place the bottle on the table to let it open up a bit.

What happens when an asshole takes out an ex-girlfriend (who happens to be a vegan) to lunch at Sukhothai? They enjoy pretty good Thai food. Not the best on the planet, but satisfied my expectations I had Beef Basil and it was slightly spicy and there were tons of veggies and rice. And Ms. K. had Vegetable Noodle, I tried it, it was tasty, as well. But you wanna know what really pushed this place into a solid 4-star territory? As we left, the guy who I presume was the owner said to us "Thanks for making us part of your day!" and opened the door for us.

This is good all around Thai food. Large portions which is a huge plus if you're eating with a few people. We ordered 3 dishes, 2 very good..chicken pad gra prao and panamg chicken. Then we asked for their most popular dish. They brought a chicken sweet spicy chili. It was not very good ad had way too much vinegar.

I've eaten here several times since moving to the cultural hinterland that is South Florida and I haven't been disappointed. Their massaman and red curries are excellent, particularly if ordered Thai Spicy Hot rather than the regular mild/medium that is served by default. Their spring rolls and pad thai are also excellent. The atmosphere is nice and the staff have always been exceedingly friendly.

Tried this place for the first time last night, having just moved to the area. We are Thai food fans, love Ricky Thai in N. Miami, and Camas Thai in Southwest Washington state. We're well familiar with the flavors and dishes other than standard pad thai. Ordered summer rolls, tom yum goong (clear soup with shrimp), pad see ew beef, pad thai chicken, and crispy duck red curry. And a beer. Tom yum goong arrived smelling strongly of fish sauce. What normally makes this soup worth ordering was entirely absent: no aroma, not even a trace, of real lemongrass, galanga, or kaffir leaf. Where are the flavors? Waitress appears not to know what kaffir leaf is. Really? Then says, these ingredients are used but we do not put pieces in. Summer rolls were barely filled, small, some fresh thai basil redeemed them somewhat, but far too weak and small especially for $9. Why scrimp on an item so inexpensive and easy to make? And the same cheap approach to the rice served with the meal: waitress serves from a pot. If she's not back around, you wait for additional rice while your food cools? Crispy duck red curry arrived. The duck was entirely covered with the red curry with vegetables, none of the usual careful distinction of texture and flavor that draws us to enjoy Thai food. If you want it crispy, waitress said, ask for the sauce on the side. Why then call this duck casserole crispy duck? The sauce was too creamy and sweet, but did have a little bit of heat (had to ask for extra chili). The noodle dishes both were heavily seasoned with fish sauce and lacking fresh sprigs of anything, basil or bean sprouts, and when we asked for fresh lime for the pad thai, waitress said they had no fresh limes. Summary: monochromatic, Americanized Thai food that either bores or smothers the palate instead of exciting it. The photo murals of Thailand and the 3 musician sculptures perched on a room divider help draw the eye away from the worn dirty carpet.

Had the pleasure of dining here twice while on business in Ft. Lauderdale. The atmosphere is very relaxed and calm to make for a nice dining experience. The food was very good. I recommend the Sukhothai Grouper with hot/sweet red chili sauce. For dessert, do try the coconut ice cream with fried bananas. It is excellent, perfect for two. The restaurant is conveniently located not far from the beach (Seabreeze Blvd) with free lot parking. With all the positives, the true star of the show here is the service. Just as their website says, the owner does come around to greet you and to make you feel welcome. The staff is very friendly and professional. It was a pleasure dining here and I hope to be back soon.

We usually do take-out and order the Red Curry Chicken and Pad Thai Noodles. Their spring rolls are pretty tasty too. The take out portions are really big. A Dinner plate is perfect for 2 people even maybe 3. It's one of our favorite Thai places :)

I went there with 2 other friends and ordered app and 3 other dishes to share. The starter, ordered beef satay. It came in a miniture flaming pot. I guess it's more for the show than actually doing anything. The beef was on the tough side. The flavor that I am used to in Thai restaurants in San Fran or even in Atlanta wasn't here. But the cucumber salad and peanut sauce was very good. 3 entrees, pad Thai at $13 is a bit expensive side. It was good, had good flavor. Massaman curry, was good. They are all same any place I go so nothing special. Beef hot basil was excellent. The price is moderate for ft lauderdale but expensive compared to San Fran or in Atlanta. Why is it that all theThai places in ft laud are so expensive. Been to Siam cuisine and $15 for a curry? Wow. Definitely, this place is worth visiting over and over. The food was good and service is ok.

We have eaten here about 10x in the past 3 months. The food is always excellent. Service can be a little slow at times but not to the point where it is a problem. We have gone with various people and the people that like very spicy food typically say it is not spicy enough. I have always found the food well spiced. This is definitely worth a trip.

A few years ago I used to go to this restaurant for lunch, the atmosphere was pleasant, the food was good as well as the service. Recently I had gone back for lunch and was very disappointed, not in the food, that was still good, but regarding the service which was not as good as it had been, the restaurant itself looked darker, they were playing some hard rock station which I would not expect to hear there and hadn't in the past, the carpet was dirty looking and when I went to use the bathroom (after I ate), I was very turned off by the stream of fly paper hanging from the ceiling, next to the sink. If I had gone to the restroom first, I would not have ordered anything. I have not gone back since then and am not sure that I will! It is a shame it used to be a good restaurant all around!

3.5 Stars So far it's the best Thai food in Ft. Lauderdale that I've found for the price. It has been there for a while, is highly rated by Zagat, and doesn't confuse you with a Japanese/sushi side menu. I had fresh green coconut curry with roasted duck (half a duck, sliced up, came out with it) and the shrimp pad kee mao noodles. The noodles were half as thick as pad kee mao noodles are supposed to be, but it was spicy and still had a great charcoal-grill flavor. [edit 7/9/08: I have not been back here, but also don't have any desire to. I thought this was the best I could get in Ft. Lauderdale, which isn't saying much...it's good, but not terribly authentic. My favorite place is now Bangkok Palace.]

This is a great place for people who do not like spicy food or are putt off by strong flavors. The food is fresh, the service is pleasant and the owner is delightful. The food however is very shy and the seasoning tends to favor saltiness and syrupy sweetness. A meal at Sukhothai is to a Thai dining experience what a visit to Epcot Center is to a a trip around the world.

EDIT: Still not a fan of the pad thai, but the thai fried rice and the pad woon sen more than make up for it. I'm thoroughly surprised by the reviews for Sukho Thai stating that their pad thai is so great. Something had to have gone wrong with mine. First off, I LOVE pad thai, and I've eaten the dish in countless cities across the country. I just moved to Fort Lauderdale and Sukho Thai was the closest option, and considering the glowing reviews I saw on Google, I figured it would be awesome. Well, my fiancee got the pad seeyu and I grabbed the pad thai as usual. The first issue was regarding the noodles - they were completely chopped to shreds. Who does that? We had to eat it with a spoon. Nit picking maybe, but there's more. The pad seeyu wasn't toooo bad, actually. A little sweeter than I'm accustomed to, but in light of what my pad thai tasted like, that fact was very, very surprising. Again, the noodles were chopped to half-inch pieces, which would not be an issue were it not for the fact that in my pad thai the sauce was decidedly NOT the type that I am accustomed to being served with pad thai. Instead of the light, sweet tamarind and lime sauce that I'm accustomed to, my pad thai was served with an ever-so-slightly grainy sauce composed of almost entirely red chili paste, and completely devoid of any sweetness what-so-ever. To be honest, it tasted a lot more like Chef Boyardee red sauce than anything pad thai-esque. We called to confirm that I was given the proper sauce, because frankly I was completely confused. "Maybe they gave me the pad kee mao sauce instead?" No dice. "Maybe they ran out of tamarind juice? And lime?" Nope. They asserted that there was nothing wrong with my dish, and so I must continue my search for REAL Fort Lauderdale pad thai, because Sukho Thai has failed to provide.

My Favorite Thai Restaurant. No matter what I order it is delicious. Have been going for over 20 years. Can't find one to top it.

Great Thai food. A little inconsistent.

Went there with my partner for lunch. We both ordered Pad-Thai and surprised with how expensive it was ($11 per dish), especially for a restaurant located in the low-rent shopping complex!!! But most of all, the Pad-Thai was awful... not authentic at all!!!

I'm not sure what everyone is raving about but this place was not great at all. The food is not even close to being authentic and it's WAY over priced. The pad thai noodles were really soggy, the tamarind sauce in the stir fry was watery and TOO sweet and the chicken was overcooked and chewy. I thought the food was horrible. The service was mediocore, but the place itself is pretty nice. The art work and the dark walls were great but the quality of the food and the dining experience lacks for sure. I probably won't ever go there again. The hostess is really beautiful though. I guess that's something to look forward to. If you want REAL thai food, go to Thai Express in margate.

Good food, friendly service, very fair prices. Preparations are on the mild side, so if you like spicier food, let them know. Great place for a family dinner or a date night.

We were visiting Ft. Lauderdale from the west coast, and our friends who lived here recommended Sukhothai. (Truth be told, they couldn't recommend it by name, since the spelling is too obscure to be reproduced, but they got us there all the same.) We had chicken satay, basil chicken, panang beef, tom kha gai (well, one us got that in the end), and beef salad. One of us had a glass of the pinot noir. The pinot noir arrived first. It was sour; we sent it back, trying to switch to a different wine, but our waiter didn't understand, so in the end we asked for the same and he poured a replacement from a new bottle. It wasn't turned this time, good news. The waiter brought out a little flame broiler. He had to explain the idea: that we should re-heat the skewers on the broiler (I've been to a lot of Thai restaurants but I've never seen that before). He asked whether we needed a second one (it heats one or two skewers at a time, and there were six of us at the table and we had order two orders of satay); but then he never brought another one. With six of us and two orders, it should have been obvious to him, duh, that we needed the second broiler. The soup we ordered for $7.95 turned out to be just a single-serving, not a pot of soup for sharing; the waiter was not helpful in clarifying that ahead of time. The rest of the dishes were tasty, though the beef salad came out crazy spicy. The kids were still hungry, so we ordered egg rolls. He asked one or two, we said two, andthen we finally understood he was trying to say that each order came with two pieces, so we said one. Twenty minutes later, they still hadn't arrived, so we asked the server about them and he said he thought we didn't want them. Huh? We cancelled the order and asked for the check. We sat waiting for 5 or 10 minutes for our waiter to pick up my credit card with the check. He was a few yards away, munching on dorritos and cheetos with the other staff in the server's area in the back of the restaurant parallel to our table. When he finally did bring the credit card slip to sign, it had an 18% tip already included. Now, I'm not one to short-tip very often... I eat out about 15 times a month and tip 20% on average, but this time, I was quite disappointed in the multiple bad experiences so I adjusted the total down by $5.00 on a $92.00 bill to $87.00 (12% tip) and signed away, heading out next to take the kids to ice cream. But wait - before we could get to the car, the waiter came running after us -- yikes!! -- to alert me that the menu states 18% tip is included for parties of 6 or more and I am not allowed to adjust it down. Boy, if only he were as responsive in serving us as he was in chasing me down for that! I told him I understood but I was still disappointed in the service. He didn't seem to care much about that. The Baskin Robbins down the street did a great job and we had a lovely ice cream treat for dessert.

I am so glad I chose Sukhothai for my 200th review. This place never ceases to amaze me. Food was excellent. We were a group of 7 and all of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Service is great. The waitstaff have great attitudes. Probably reflects those of the owner. Got to meet the owner tonight as well. Not to miss Thai food in Fort Lauderdale. I love the Vegetarian Pad thai here. Of course, you can pretty much pick any item on the extensive menu and you wont go wrong. Vegetarians have a lot of choice and they also can make many items without eggs for vegetarians.

Horrible green curry!! This is my favorite Thai dish and this version was practically inedible having a very off flavor. If I hadn't gotten it for takeout I would have certainly sent it back. A huge disappointment.

We headed back to Sukhothai and it was GREAT! The flavors were awesome and cooked as we ordered, the wine was flowing, energy was great and the service was excellent. Now this is what I remembered and will be coming back to again and again. If you mention Yelp, Eddie will send a nice treat to your table :)

I only came here for lunch for the first time today, but let me tell you, WOW was I amazed at my first impression. Eddie Watana, the general manager, was SO EFFING NICE. He was extremely hospitable and welcoming, made my day. And the food was even better. I had the Pad Kee Mao, so fabulous. I'll definitely be coming back here to try more of the menu :)

I've been to different Thai restaurants in the country, and Sukhothai is by far the best. I dream about the peanut dressing on the salads. I'm a vegetarian and the menu is full of choices for people like me, the curries are delicious but my favorite are the noodles. The veggie version of Pad See Eww is to die for. Even the desert is great, I always leave the place with a very full belly and still a box full of food for lunch the next day. The atmosphere is great and the servers are very friendly.

I miss the old Sukothai. There is something missing in the dishes that come out now. Not the intense flavors I remember from time gone by. Oh well change happens. But its still a decent place with decent Thai food. I would still recommend it when in the neighborhood but sentimentality aside there is probably better somewhere. Just haven't found it in Fort Lauderdale yet.

Great little Thai restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale. Everything we ordered was delicious. We had the dumplings for our appetizer, tried the plum wine (the wine definitely tastes better after you start eating the food), both had the Sukhothai salad (the peanut dressing was really yummy). I ordered the Pad Kee Mao (the menu said this was a "great pick-me-up for a hangover") with beef; it was really flavorful, and the portions are quite big. I think it even tasted better for lunch the next day. My fiance, who always orders the hottest red curry possible, tried the hot one, and he was dying. He'll probably go for the medium next time! Anyway, this place was great. We went kinda early on a Saturday night, so it was quiet. The servers were very attentive, the inside was clean, and the meals are very affordable. We'll go back again, for sure.

Headed over after reading tips on Yelp. Nice decor and friendly service. Spring roll appetizers were really Chinese style egg rolls with duck sauce, not your typical small tightly wrapped Thai type with sweet chili sauce. However the entrees were really good. Pad Thai was some of the best I've had and the sweet chili chicken was good, just enough heat. Would go back..
