$16.95 for all I can eat. Not a bad deal. I had cold shrimp, tempura shrimp, tempura sweet potatoes, marinated mushrooms, green beans, sashimi (four different kinds), sweet iced tea (lots of refills), jello, pistachio ice cream and a few other things that I can't remember off hand. Everything was delicious. They have sushi and a hibachi bar, which I ran out of room before I could try. There was a lot of food for a reasonable amount of money. And a variety of types of food. I saw several chicken options and ribs as well as potstickers and spring rolls. I'll have to try some of those things the next time I go. I'll definitely be back. This place is too good to only go once.

I was very hungry and in the area, so my fiancee and I decided to give it a try. The location is great, so I figured that the food would be very good since the place is kind of large and lots of cars were parked in front of it. We got in, and we were seated right away. They have many booths which I appreciate. I orderd some sweet iced tea and got up to try their all-you-can-eat buffet. I was shocked by the lack of variety they offered. All options looked like they have been seating there for hours (even though the place was 25-30% full). I ended up getting some fried rice and a little of their pepper steak. Not good. Both tasted oily and old. This was all I had. I was so hungry, but ate so little. Asked for the check 15 minutes after our arrival. $44 for 2 people + 2 ice teas. Insane! I can eat a lot better anywhere for this price, specially knowing that the good asian buffets I usually go to would have charged us around $25 for the same stuff we ate/ordered. Definetely first and last time at this place for us.

Over the years this place has gone down. The variety of both sushi and Chinese food is left to be a lot to be desired for. May be ten types of rolls and only two types of sashimi. Tags do not always match what is offered, a dangerous game for someone with salmon allergies. Those rolls that I did taste were ok, not amazing. Quality of Chinese dishes is good but not too many choices offered.

Let's be honest... Japanese/Sushi buffets can never really be that good... They usually have issues with cleanliness and food quality, but eh you get what you pay for. That being said, Kyojin is probably my favorite Japanese buffet in South Florida. The sushi is decent, the Chinese/Japanese hot dishes are decent, the desserts are decent and the Hibachi is just ok. For just over $21 it's a pretty good deal. I usually fill up on the JB rolls, the dumplings, the tempura shrimp, the lo mein, and the green tea ice cream. If you have the option, make sure you go at lunch time- it's $10 cheaper and the food is basically the same!

As far as Asian buffets go, this place isn't too shabby at all! It's not the largest selection of food, but everything tastes pretty damn good! I love the chicken lettuce wraps. The potstickers are yummy too!

The rice they use for the Sushi is equivalent to that found in supermarket prepared sushi. It's edible, but not high quality. If you are just looking to stuff your face with mediocre sushi, then this is the place for you. Otherewise, you have plenty of other quality sushi places to choose from in the area.

  • Sam K.

I've been here several times and it's my favorite asian style buffet in the area. Frankly the hibachi grill component sucks! However, the sushi is pretty good. They also have King Crab legs. I'll continue to frequent this place to fill up on cheap King Crab Legs and sushi. Try the green tea ice cream for Dessert!

In the past our family would visit this place frequently. It's been over a year since I've been to this restaurant and didn't know what to expect. Was in the area recently and decided to go for lunch with my sister. We got here as soon as they opened for lunch and already had patrons inside eating. (Good Sign) We sat down and were greeted immediately for our drinks orders. We both walked to the buffet, plenty of fresh sushi, cold seafood and hot bar and dessert bar to choose from. Everything my sister and I tried was fresh and delicious. We even remarked that the quality and taste was better than other similar restaurants we had been to in the past. As we ate, the restaurant noticeably got busier and busier. A mixed crowd of locals, retirees, business professionals and tourists. By the time we finished our meal and left, the restaurant was packed. The food was frequently replenished and our drinks refilled often. This place has retained the food quality and excellent service from years past. However, the only reason I gave it 3 stars was the condition of the bathroom. Not only did it reek of old sewage water but all the fixtures were old, rusty and dilapidated. The bathroom is in dire need of a face lift. If you come to this restaurant, go to the bathroom at another location first. Otherwise you may lose your meal like I almost did. BLECH!!

I have been hearing about the mythical kyojin for some time now and finally decided to go. Where do I start, it's a dirty run down antiquated establishment. The service is horrible and tbd food is a step down from my local Chinese take out spot. Old warm sushi rolls that have been sitting for God knows how long with no one around to even herp you out figuring out what is what. The hibachi station was filthy, meats sitting out in the air. The guy working the station was hanging out with his buddies while I stood there and waited. Chicken and steak were bland and over cooked like hell. The other traditional Chinese food was gross as well. Save your money go elsewhere. Ended up at the maikai next door.

Sushi can be hit or miss for lunch...you can tell they purposely pack their sushi full of rice to make it cheaper. At night, the sushi is prepared better. Overall this buffet is nice for the price Edit: The sushi and cold salads have been amazing the ladt 6months!!

  • Adam D.

very sub par. quality of food isn't anything to brag about. in my opinion it's not worth the dinner prices, although it's doable for lunch.

If you're on a bit of a budget but hungry as hell - I'd recommend this is the place for you. It's a bit of a fusion between Japanese sushi and stove top prepped items you'd find at a Japanese steak house (which translates to pretty fresh concoctions you can dream up with the aid of the on-staff chef) with other traditional Chinese items you'd expect at an all you can eat buffet (rices, short ribs, won tons, soups, etc.). I think because of the volume of business items are placed on the buffet with regularity so you can count on freshness - just don't expect this to be the taj mahal of Asian dining; it's tasty but not delicious and it serves its purpose of filling you up.

  • Samantha D.

Do NOT come here!! Food is hardly eatable and they are super overpriced! $42 for ehh sushi, horrible egg drop soup, over cooked peel and eat shrimp, a sad amount of "buffet" Chinese, and a couple of dessert bites that were off in taste. Worst buffet we have ever been to, totally not worth your time or money.

I have been going to this place (and the location in Boca) since I was a little girl. It's one of my favorite restaurants, especially on the weekends when they have fresh crab legs. I know an all you can eat sushi place can have vast opportunities for failure and sketchiness, but this place is neither. The sushi is fresh, the hibachi grill is excellent, all the seafood is delicious and it has literally only gotten better with time. Been eating here for over ten years. Even the desserts are good! So are the soups. However, this is mainly a JAPANESE buffet. If you're looking for tons of fried items and lo mein and orange/sesame/general tsao chicken etc lol....go somewhere else. they have a small selection of your typical chinese buffet foods, but it's not a chinese place.

Not upscale at all. Deceptive advertising. Smoked salmon sushi had zero flavor. Tempura sushi was flavorless. Few options.

    (1)
  • Ron W.

Standard low grade Chinese buffet fare. Even the green tea ice cream has no identifiable flavor.

  • Tyler S.

This place is gross. How can it be so busy but the food taste 3 days old ?? I've been to a lot if sushi buffets and none of them have wowed me , but this one was labelled "upscale", so maybe it will be different .... What a joke. This place was trashier than the Miley Cyrus little miss collection at Walmart. The piece de resistance was at the end of the meal with the "chocolate fondue " , their chocolate fountain had clearly broken and they left only the bottom half which they filled with just plain old choc syrup. Maybe it was an off night ? But I doubt it.

I used to really enjoy this place, particularly the crab legs. Went again last month and was really disappointed. The crab legs and shrimp were water-logged, meaning tough and watery. This comes from freezing after it's been cooked. I told the manager who acted as though this was a surprise to him but did nothing to rectify the situation. This last visit, will be my last visit.

Searched on Yelp for Seafood buffet, found this restaurant, there were 1-2 stars reviews, but there were also 4-5 stars reviews from Elite members, so, we decided to try ourselves; The restaurant was clean, packed with many customers; there were vege, fish, beef , chicken, port ribs, salads, 4 types of soup, Hibachi, and all kinds of Sushi, plus ice cream and fruits; we love the Sashimi, they were very fresh; and service was fine; took few photos, already liked by others. For dinner, M- T $16.95, F- S $ 19.95 per person, no soft drinks, just ice water, and it was Monday, our total bill with tip was $40.00, I think it's pretty good price for All you can eat seafood Buffet. Here is how I evaluate all the Restaurants, it was based on the cleanliness and atmosphere, Service of Staff, Quality, quantity, taste and presentation of food that proportionate to the price, that's how I gave 5 stars to this restaurant.

While the selection at Kyojin is huge, the ingredients are not necessarily as fresh as one might expect from a sushi restaurant right by the water. That being said, this is great for large groups because everyone will find something they like and the service is very fast! It's a good deal if you're looking for a lot of sushi at an affordable price.

  • Olivier D.

Must be the least impressive buffet I have ever been to. It's been a few months now and I can still not remember an enjoyable moment. Not sure what was worse: the choices or lack thereof, the atmosphere, the taste or the great happy atmosphere. Not impressed at all. Way overpriced for what you get.

This is by far my favorite sushi place in south florida. I know what you're thinking, it's a buffet!! Hey, don't knock it, it really is that good for the money that you pay. The rolls are larger than most rolls, they are fresher and they have a very good variety. I would much rather come here then a standard restaurant cause your're getting a much better value here. My wife doesn't eat sushi, she loves the hibachi grill here. They have a decent selection of seafood, shrimp, crab legs. Their hot foods look really good too. If you haven't been to kyojin come out and try them out. The staff is super friendly and the managers are welcoming.

  • Adrianna U.

Their fried food and warm foods aren't too bad. Average. Ice cream was nice flavors, but the chocolate fountain was chocolate syrup! this pissed me off cause i expect nice gooey chocolate and i get very watery sugary syrup :( Lastly, and most importantly, i didnt like the sushi from here. This I find is very important in a sushi buffet. Too much rice, I was even trying to pick it off. Taste wasn't all that. You won't get a terrible meal, but i'd take your hard earned money elsewhere :)

It had been over a year since dining there last. Having always had great food in the past, was excited to revisit and take friends as well. Arrived around 8 pm on a Tuesday. Apparently everything had been sitting out since the lunch crowd. Almost every dish tried between the four of us ( a lot of variety) was dry, tough, and just tasted too old. The chicken was as dry as jerky, sesame chicken was tough, calamari was cool and chewy, the stuffed noodles had lost all sense of any flavor, the sushi tasted stale and dry, especially the spicy tuna rolls, the crust was almost hardened, the shrimp had gotten too soft and was no longer firm. Just soo disappointed. Desert- chocolate cake had dried out and gotten a little crunchy on the upper layer. The ice cream might have been good, but when I saw someone dragging their knuckles into it to retrieve a scoop, I declined. The noodles did taste good, but now I wonder just how long they had sat in a moistened pan. Maybe it is good on a weekend when there is a lot of turnover and food would be fresh, not sure- but not gonna revisit to find out.

We eat here quite frequently and I have to disagree with the negative reviews. I have eaten here over the past 5 years and have yet to have a bad or negative experience. The sushi is fresh, the staff is friendly and attentive, its clean and there is an exponential amount of options.

I was so disappointed I went there because it used to 12 a person for lunch on Saturday now it's 16. And the quality is awful I will just drive to davie next time to shinju

The best sushi in south florida!!! These are words coming from my husbands mouth since he's the sushi eater. He says the cuts of sushi are the biggest he's ever seen and it is so fresh. Personally I myself love the hibachi station. Their hibachi is top notch as well. We used to come here every weekend. The people there knew us by name and knew where our favorite seat was! We would drive from where we live in margate all the way to fort laudetdale by oakland and federal where kyojin is. It was worth the drive. Unfortunately my husband had a setback in finances last year so we eat out alot less. We haven't been to kyojin in awhile but it's still our favorite japanese buffet. If you have never been to kyojin you have to try it out. They have two locations. One in fort lauderdale and one in boca. The managers and staff are so friendly. The place is spotless and they have a good variety of food. One side is all salads, sushi and sashimi. The other side is soups, chinese food and they have the hibachi grilling station as well. Try kyojin, you wont be disappointed.

With a craving for sushi, I was pleased when my Yelp app pointed me to a sushi buffet with good reviews. And they were right. A good selection of fresh sashimi and rolls that was updated often and did not seem to sit still for long. I skipped over the Chinese steam table and simply loaded up on some great salmon, eel, masago and tamago. Unusual to see pickled mackerel on a buffet table, I grabbed a whole bunch of these deliciously tart bits of fish. Price was a great deal - $12 with a constantly refilled glass of water. No wifi, but that's okay. All I can say is... don't hesitate. You need to be eating here. Now!

Disgusting! The buffet lack of choices..the waitress as always wants to kick you out after you have the second plate..food lack of taste..price is the same as other..a lot of msg on the food to make you feel full. Not much of seafood choice..advertising is a trick..do not waste your time with colored fake tasting food..Mcdonalds do it better..and that is a lot to say..my friend just puke it. And the sodas also msg..horrible..

  • Dennis U.

The food was disgusting. The sushi was old and dry. The hibachi chef did not know how to cook hibachi. It was disgusting. Fried shrimp was so old it was like eating a rock. This place is good for people who haven't had good quality food. For the price it should be awesome but the selection of food was seriously depressing. Don't waste your money.i never ever come back to this place. Before I eat dessert they clean the dessert table horrible.

Terrible, low quality food. Service was good and staff was friendly, however you'll definitely want to skip this place. Food had NO flavor. Very disappointing considering the positive reviews. Needless to say, my husband and I will not be returning.

Do not pay attention to the bad reviews. It is what is is: an all you can eat buffet and they really do let you eat all you can eat. I come here for lunch in Fort Lauderdale all of the time. They used to have a Boca Raton location on Powerline road but that closed. I pay $11.95 per person for a weekday lunch with free hot tea. That is a great deal. There are other Asian themed all you can eat buffet restaurants in Broward County. This is the best and I have never had problems with the service. Most of all though, I love their food. Their sushi bar is like a cafeteria. You can make your own great salads, fresh cooked meats to order from the hibachi grill. They have all the sushi and sashimi favorites like salmon, mackerel, tuna and fried eel. They have buffet tables with steamed vegetables, steamed dumplings, soups. Shrimp Toast, Egg plant, egg foo young, General Tsao chicken with broccoli, sweet and sour pork, steamed shrimp and cocktail sauce with lemon, fruits, fish, Desserts! Kyojin Buffet in Fort Lauderdale is such a deal. Go there for lunch or dinner. It is easy to get to on highway one south of Commercial but north of Oakland Park.

  • Phil E.

Ok for a quick meal, a little overpriced for a lunch buffet. Sushi didn't seem fresh to me, the hibachi was good. Biggest issue is that the place smells, like the carpet needs cleaned or replaced. Hard to enjoy a meal when your inhaling dingy carpet.

  • Jim D.

ONE OF THE BEST BUFFETS OUTSIDE OF LAS VEGAS OR ATLANTIC CITY. The key word is fresh and the selection of sushi is fantastic. If you don't see what you want they will make it for you. The crab claws are so fresh they slap you in the face. I loved the baby octopus. There is everything; chicken , fish , pork, steak, if it crawls or walks its there. The staff is very helpful and very nice to deal with. Please come hungry and take your time. The rice and noodles for get it I go for the goodies, crab legs and the shrimp, then explore the rest. The place is so clean you can eat off the floor but take a plate. They do have a good lunch too but I tend to have a late breakfast and ship lunch which I am glad I did I must have had 3 pounds of crab and a pound of shrimp , we won't talk sushi . Enjoy

  • Bob G.

It's not great. It's not bad. It's good food for a reasonable price. The place is clean and has a large supply of food available. They keep up with refills. Lots and lots of sushi. Pretty good sushi. Order from the hibachi grill as soon as you get there. It takes a long time.

    (3)
  • Dominique H.

The service is good and friendly but the food is really low quality. Fried rice and noodles tasted like water and the sushi rolls all tasted the same. Definitely wouldn't come back as we tried ichiyami in boca and that sushi buffet is just incredible. Once you have been to ichiyami you would realize there is no comparison.

  • Nancy R.

Terrible...do yourself a favor and don't eat here. Save your money and your stomach. Food was old and dried out, plates and buffet were dirty. $20 dollars for dinner was waaay overpriced for the poor selection and tasteless food. I travel and have eaten at a lot of great places, so take my advice and skip this place. If I could give zero stars I would.

    (1)
  • Josh R.

This place is nasty. By nasty I mean the food was old and gross. The sushi wasn't fresh and the buffet was limited with old crusty food. Don't believe me just take a look at where they store the spoons for soup. Full of crude and who knows what else. If your thinking about this place quit thinking and go somewhere else. 20 dollar buffet is ridiculous for what this place serves. Never again.

  • Hector F.

This is a sushi BUFFET people. I'm not a fan of these places. But apparently my friends tend to eat as least of 4 pounds of salmon a day it seems because they just can't get enough of the salmon nigiri. I went into this place expecting the absolute worst. But I was pleasantly surprised. Sure, the sushi level is still way, way below an actual restaurant (freshly prepared) level, but still, it didn't make me sick. It's great if you want three or four plates full of salmon and tuna nigiri, California rolls, and the general assortment of Chinese buffet food. (Seriously I don't know how people can eat this much sushi in one sitting). $20 a person ain't cheap.

Great Sushi and Chinese food! Good price, consistency and service. I've been going since April 2006 and it only gets better to me!

  • Nicole S.

A bit overpriced but the food was fabulous. I had mushrooms, green beans, and the hibachi. My friend had inside out sushi rolls and various other sushi items plus hibachi chicken. His mother had crawfish and items from the buffet and hibachi. The desserts were so-so. There was no green tea ice cream. Overall not a bad place to go and the atmosphere was very nice. Cost was about $18 er person not including drinks.

I've been eating here for 11 yrs. fresh sushi, Asian, Mongolian grill, seafood, desert, all you can eat. $11 for lunch. I've never had a bad meal. It's fresh. Check it out if you're a sushi lover. Sashimi at night.

  • Jon K.

You know what you are getting with this buffet. I have been probably 5 times and its very consistent sushi and cooked foods. For what you pay for the buffet, its not going to be the best quality fish. Its not bad fish, by any stretch, but its not the highest quality. There are so many choices, so if you go, make sure you are hungry. They have quite a selection of hot, cooked foods, so you don't have to be a sushi fan to enjoy this place. And they even have a good selection of desserts. Again, if you want top quality sushi, this is not the place. if you want a ton of food at a reasonable price, then you should try it.

I've been going here for years and typically have nothing but good things to say about this place but this last visit make me believe that the food is going downhill. We went on a Monday night and everything seemed old and rank...this is not good when it comes to raw sushi. I usually love their selection of rolls but none of them looked intriguing and a majority seemed to be fried as opposed to fresh. I usually go up for three plates of sushi with a side of hibachi but this time around I got two plates and couldn't even finish the second one. Then I went to the hot buffet bar which I rarely get anything from and was disappointed with the chicken--sesame and sweet and sour--both were as hard as bricks. The shrimp tempura however knocked my socks off as well as the miso soup. I'm still sticking with three stars due to my history with this place and service I've had. I think I'm going to give Kyojin one more shot when I'm in town and if it's anything like this last experience, sayonara!

  • Jaszon S.

I've eaten at Kyojin numerous times over the years, and it is probably the best sushi buffet that you can find in the area (it definitely has the most expansive offering of sushi that I've seen at any buffet). In addition, if sushi isn't your thing, they also have a buffet set-up for Chinese food, to include Mongolian bbq (which is just stir fry cooked-to-order on a griddle). The atmosphere is casual with random Asian decor. The service is good and the staff is friendly. The Chinese buffet offers all of the typical things you find at any Chinese buffet (if you've been to one, you've been to them all), and is mediocre. However, I could care less about the Chinese buffet because the real reason to come to Kyojin is for the sushi -- and the sushi here rocks!

  • Gabriel N.

I've gone to Kyojin several times this year and it has never failed to please. For a buffet it's rather upscale. It may not be a Morton's, but you wouldn't feel bad taking a date here (then again I'm not sure what signals you're sending by taking a girl to a buffet). The variety of food is extensive. You have a huge sushi bar manned by several chefs constantly churning out fresh, new sushi. Then you have a Mongolian BBQ station for people who're into watching others cook their food. Finally you have a large spread of assorted hot dishes, cold dishes and desserts. I doubt anyone could come here and not find something to eat. If you have a sushi craving this is the place to go. You'll find plenty to tickle your palate and they have REALLY big bottles of sake.

I used to go here the time and always had a treat experience, BUT l went the other say an hour before closing and everything was extremely picked over, hardly any food left in the warmers an although a few more tables came after us NOTHING was replenished. There was no desert left The bathroom was beyond disgusting. Unflushed toilet no toilet paper. Service was extremely slow and it was not to busy. And when we where waiting for our check we had to wait until the table full of employees took a break from eating there fresh food from the kitchen so we could leave. Will never go back again

I'm an Asian buffet fiend, like so many other Americans. Honestly, I love Chinese and Japanese buffet food more than any other kind of food. I crave raw salmon. I have been to Kyojin multiple times. The food is always very good, fresh, and there is plenty of salmon, Dancing Eel, tuna, and salmon roe sushi. My compliments to the sushi chef, but the seaweed salads are also among my favorite delicacies. The sign by the door self-styles Kyojin as "Fort Lauderdale's premier upscale Japanese buffet." My take on this is that the management has never been to an upscale establishment, because the decor and interior are cheap, tacky, and uninteresting. You go to Kyojin for a good deal on sushi, not because you have class. The Chinese buffet table is average but satisfying, with tasty, tender beef teriyaki, sweet and sour chicken, egg drop soup, and an artful arrangement of mussels in ice. Still, every time I have ever dined at Kyojin, there is a perceived problem. It is a certain hostility, a smoldering patronizing attitude of the wait staff. It's more than just the absence of a cheerful smile, it's more like a personal disdain for me. I usually tip accordingly...i.e., $1. I naively hope that gets the message across, but it is a recurring theme at Kyojin. To be fair, I think this superiority complex is common in just about every Asian (usually that means Chinese) buffet I have been to. One time I pointed out to the maître d' (or, just the matron of the restaurant) that there were no crab legs, yet they were advertising a special on crab legs on Wednesday. She disappeared into the kitchen, returned with a steam tray full of crab legs, slammed them down into the buffet table, and said, "There!" with a look that might have felled a lumberjack. Let me be clear, I am not a rude person in public. I go out of my way to smile and behave as the honored guest at Kyojin (and other eating establishments). Maybe they want to be abused, I don't know. Smiling and saying "please" and "thank you" don't seem to register here. On this last visit, two Saturdays ago, the first sign that this might become another confrontational event to knot up my GI tract, as I was grazing the sushi bar, the manager followed behind me, picked up a pair of the black plastic sushi tongs that another patron had left in one of the sushi roll trays, and he slammed it back onto the tong tray. It was done in a manner as if he was angry with me, and that he was going to teach me how to properly return the tongs to the tong tray. Look, buddy, I didn't leave the tongs in the sushi, so don't get huffy with me! A middle aged, and uncharacteristically friendly waitress served me. Because it was so unusual, I left a $5 tip, which, on an $11 dollar tab is not being cheap. I put my $20 in the bill folder, and the waitress said, "I will give it to her," pointing to the somewhat older looking maître d'. So, the maître d' took my money, returned with the change, and then pocketed the five dollar bill I left for the friendly waitress. WTF just happened? This old bat did nothing for me, except take my money. Now she's taking the tip I left for Kind Lady, too? I left very annoyed. Not with the food, but with the general crappy personalities I put up with to get my raw salmon fix.

we have been coming to this place since the day they opened. it used to be a great place to have good quality sushi at a reasonable price but lately everything has changed for the worse. i think the management is the same but apparently they have decided to change the way of doing business. sushi now is thin sliced and full of hard pressed rice. they house black tee is just one step above plain hot water. they advertise on some east broward magazine the lunch buffet for $10.95 and they didnt want to honor it. its not a matter of $2 between two people but it shows how the do business! not going back!

For sheer variety of Asian choices, this is a great place to go. I like the fact that they have both Japanese and Chinese options. The sushi is good, not great, but certainly better than a lot of places. The hibachi entrees are fresh and tasty. The other choices are also solid. It is pricier than most Asian buffets, but then there are a lot more options.

The sushi was warm and dry. Seemed like it was sitting out all day. The hibachi grill was the best thing they had. A very musty nasty smell in the bathrooms. Everyone wound up sick that night and the next day from eating here.

Place looks nice, staff is friendly, food is ok. Can't expect much from a $12 lunch buffet.

For a Buffet I consider 3 stars good. Unless ur in Vegas. But the sushi is pretty good here and some of the chinese good too. What lacks is the service esp the hostess who needs to learn how to smile. Price is very good for lunch. But I did have a friend who got food poisoning eating at this place. Would I go back?? Yes. My wife enjoys it and the price really attracts you. I have a simple policy when it comes to buffets!! I don.t eat anything in a sauce.

Well of course this place gets 5 stars! I love sushi, and chineese...and this place will feed me a literally endless supply of both! The first thing I need to establish, is that the lunch and dinner here are NOT the same. Different menu, and price. Quite simply; dinner is more expensive yet there is more on the menu to choose from. The sushi is fresh, and NEVER runs out. As soon as a particular fish, or roll is running low in supply, it's replenished in the blink of an eye. It's probably the nicest looking buffet place I've ever seen. Nice decor, friendly service, and the people working the hibachi grill will literally make you whatever you want. Even stuff that's not featured, just ask and they'll do it for you! We were recently here for a birthday, and our server had no problem keeping up with our party of 9. I ate 3 full plates of sushi, plus had some crab leg, tasted an awesome desert, and had a cup of eggdrop soup. Would've gotten some fried calamari but it looks like they don't have it anymore :-( I spent about $30 on sake, but that was for several jars, we had a great time and I will be back again and again.

What a great place. No non-sense decor, but a very good selection of very fresh sushi and sashimi, loved the baby octopus. After the sushi and sashimi bar, I moved on to the Chinese foods. The ribs, pot stickers, tempura shrimp, volcano shrimp, sesame chicken, grilled pork chops, and ........ Too many to name. Next came the deserts, I only had the cheese cake and coffee pettifors, no complaints here. All you can eat on a Tuesday night for $16, can't beat it. I will be back soon.

If you like sushi, plenty of it and a terrific value to boot, this is the place. The sushi is the freshest in town and there are all sorts and varieties of it. You find anything from the baby octopus to the eel. It's a buffet, Japanese, so eat all you want. The service, for a buffet, is outstanding and the place is, unlike majority of the Chinese buffets common to the Lauderdale area, kept clean and orderly with most every part of the operation being in plain sight. The lunch version of the buffet isn't as big as the evening version, which is pricier, but at either sitting, the value of what you get for your money is the reason this place gets my FIVE star rating.

I should have known how bad this place was when I walked in and it smelled like a toilet. The food was disgusting and there is hardly any selection. Low quality food for a high Buffett price. I will never be back again nor will I recommend this place to anyone.

  • Jessica M.

Compared to other sushi buffets I have been too the food is always fresh and they have a huge selection. They also have hot food (but I tend to stick to sushi) For the non raw enthusiast. I try to go as often as I can manage and stuff myself.....

Stiff sushi, that falls off the rice base . Yikes. The Chinese food selection was lousy too. Not too impressed. $50 for two. Was it worth it ? Don't think so

Very disappointing. Last time I was there was 2 years ago, and I didn't think much of it then - but after two years and after trying lots of other buffets (Chinese/Japanese and Sushi), we thought we'd give it another whirl. Price midweek is $16.95 if anyone is interested (April 2014). Disappointing! The variety of hot foods is poor - a lot fewer dishes than for example Shinju or the Golden Dragon, but on the positive side, the hot food was piping hot, not luke warm as in a lot of places. That's REALLY good news. The mushrooms were boiling, as were the green beans etc., so that's all good. No coconut shrimp though (which I missed) and no bok choy. My husband said the ribs were very good, better than the other places - lots of meat, very little fat, nice and crispy - so that's good! The sushi and sushimi... hmmm, for the 7 or 8 different pieces out there, 7 or 8 different colors of tuna, from pink, to crimson to dried out red - very off putting. They should be fairly similar in color if they're coming from the same fish... but they looked awful - wish I could post the photos, you'd see for yourself. The actual sushi isn't bad - but it's also not very good. lots of rice and very inconsistent - for example the JB roll which should have salmon, cream cheese and avocado - if you pick four different pieces, each one will have a different mix - usually only two of the ingredients in there - so you'd get either cream cheese and salmon (no avo), or avo and salmon (no cream cheese) - you get the picture. I had to pick through all of them to find four or five pieces that had all three in them - hard to believe because these are not hard rolls to make (I've made them myself). So they are sloppily made. The variety of sushi rolls is quite good - but again, lots of rice and little filling, and inconsistent filling. Why should it be so hard to find a piece that has cream cheese AND avo AND salmon??? The fruit is a joke - the melon is like rock - why bother to put it out? You can barely cut it with a knife and fork! NOW - and this is where they lose major points - our table was not bussed while we ate - I think we each had at least two plates and some soup and nobody came to take them away (our table looked a mess) - other diners were calling for someone to come and clear their plates - by comparison at SHinju, you barely finish your plate and they come and clear them away - which is what you want. I don't want to come back to my table and see it looking a mess (full of other plates, ponzu dishes, soup dishes and utensils). AND...... NOW FOR THE DISHONEST BIT!!!!!! when the check came, it was $16.95 per buffet, plus tax, so the total before tax was $33.90. They charged $2.10 FOR SALES TAX WHICH IS WRONG!!!!!! IT SHOULD BE $2.03. Fort Lauderdale is 6%. It's only 7 cents but think about it - if EVERY customer is overcharged sales tax - THAT PROFIT GOES INTO THEIR POCKETS! AND THAT'S DISHONEST PROFIT!!!! I asked one of the waitresses what the sales tax should be, she said oh for two it's $2.05. I said why is this $2.10? She changed it to $2.05 and I said No, that's still wrong, IT'S $2.03 ($2.034 if you're being particular) BUT SHE STILL PUT $2.05 ON THERE. STILL 2 CENTS OVER WHAT IT SHOULD BE. FORT LAUDERDALE TAX DEPARTMENT - ARE YOU AWARE OF THIS?????? They're charging customers additional tax money that goes into THEIR pockets! THAT IS STILL DELIBERATELY DISHONEST!!!! Again, it's not a lot of money but it's deliberately overcharging customers. To me that's unforgiveable. they KNEW they were overcharging on the sales tax, it was a deliberate action, not a mistake, it's not like every check is different - it's the same price for everyone! THEY SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. They must make a FORTUNE from unsuspecting customers who are overcharged sales tax and don't check it. DISHONEST! DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT KYOJIN. We will not go back - not just because of the incorrect charge, but just because you can do so much better. Shinju is a couple of dollars more, but they have much better sushi and sashimi, excellent hot food (although no bok choy), and amazing coconut shrimp. Golden Dragon is a couple of dollars cheaper, their sushi isn't as good as Shinju - but everything else is excellent and they also serve DUCK! and Bok Choy! They are in Plantation/Davie.... and are a lot better than Kyojin. We won't be back to Kyojin and if you go - DOUBLE CHECK WHAT YOU'RE CHARGED FOR SALES TAX.

I just got back from having dinner at Kyojin BUffet. I am extremely disappointed with the experience. The only highlight was the sushi and that's not saying much. There is better sushi in town. You definitely do not get what you pay for at this place. The Chinese section of the buffet was very sparse. The seafood was tough and there wasn't a whole lot of variety. The servers are not very attentive and they take a while to bring refills. I will not be returning to this place. Lack of quality, value and service. What a shame.

The sign says : "Fort Lauderdale's Largest Upscale Buffett" and that, like the 3 plus star rating, is a bit misleading. If you are looking for large or "upscale" you won't find it here. I haven't been to every buffet in Fort Lauderdale, so I can't say if it's "Fort Lauderdale's Largest". I can say, where Asian buffets are concerned, this one isn't large or "upscale". The "upscale" appears to have more to do with the $12.00 price than the food quality, selection, clientele or ambiance. If you're not a sushi eater or have been to a large Asian buffet, you like me, may find this place disappointing. We were unable get our $12.00 worth, didn't find the available selections particularly appetizing and won't return. If you do like sushi, and many eating here apparently do, it may be worth trying.

As with most places here this was my 1st visit as were the three friends in our group, celebrating Alex's birthday. Seating area is much nicer than traditional (i.e. budget) buffet. So many sushi options it was hard to pick a few (so I didn't) With WIDE eyes at a well stocked buffet area I tried a little of each and all but the ribs were all to my high expectations Hibbachi grill could have used a little more explanation though. The chef seemed to be VERY focused on only two dishes at a time he missed 1/2 of my request Service: exclent with our server being very attentive, glasses were refilled right on time Sure I'll go back and try what I missed

Anybody who doesn't like Kyojin can go swallow their own bath water. Kyojin is great, a quality sushi buffet that you will both enjoy and not wonder whether the stuff will come flying out of you later like a shotgun shell. The key is to go here for lunch. Same great buffet, for half the price. Me and my girlfriend usually get here about once a week for lunch and we haven't regretted it since. The habachi grill is excellent as well if you are in the mood.

I've wanted to try this buffet for a while & since I had a coupon for $2.00 off per person mon-thurs, we went for it! Was expecting a little classier buffet/ resteraunt..not so, so don't worry about wearing jeans or shorts. The actual warm buffet was severely lacking in freshness and variety, but the sushi was fairly good for a buffet. We would go again but only during the week when its 16.95 per person and the additional 2 off with the coupon; otherwise its just not worth it.

I've been here close to 6 times. A friend loves this place but he is big eater and as cheap as they come. I am not a fan and although I have tried various types of sushi it all taste the same. I mean the fish just has a fishy taste. I can't distinguish one type of fish. At these prices I understand they can't afford sushi grade fish. I rather drop a few more bucks and enjoy great tasting food.

Okay, to start, let me just say that I'm NOT one of those picky-types who are totally adverse to buffet-style restaurants. I'm an outdoors camping-type, so I'll eat food that I've dropped on the ground if I'm hungry! (Just call me a Neanderthal....) Anyway, this is definitely buffet dining, where people are walking around the various food items picking and poking and doing whatever it is you do when trying to decide what to choose. Kyojin was highly-recommended by some neighbors of ours, so we took my brother and a friend to try this place out. Kyojin has a very clean and pleasant-looking interior -- several steps above, say, a buffet-place like Sweet Tomatoes or Golden Corral (but nowhere near the fun time watching the characters here!). The rows of food items -- one row of hot foods; one row of cold stuff and desserts; one long counter of salad items and a myriad of sushis; grill for made-right-then type foods -- were all very clean and well-appointed. This is an eat-all-you-want bonanza for sushi and Asian food lovers! I tried a bit of everything, and all were extremely tasty and fresh. The variety of sushi was fantastic! They even had escolar sashimi, which is rare to find! (Escolar and Chilean sea bass are probably my favorite fish meals.) Tuna was fresh; yellow-belly was fresh; the sliced octopus was fresh; whole, pickled baby octopi was fresh; the rice was firm and tasty. It was like manna from the sushi gods! (Seriously!) The hot food items were split between Japanese and Chinese food items. Pork wonton soup was excellent; wontons were firm and moist and fully-cooked through; meat was tasty and fresh. The fried wontons were also pretty darn tasty, as well -- I think I had a dozen! (Just call me Buddha-belly!) There's too many individual items to talk about in this review; but, I'll just say that nothing disappointed. The amiable waitress kept our waters and sodas filled, and removed finished plates like clockwork. I didn't try the large variety of desserts -- I was WAY too stuffed to put anything else into my stomach! -- but everyone else were ooh-ing and ahh-ing over their respective dessert plates. Next time, I'll keep some room open to try some.... I highly recommend Kyojin Buffet if you've got an insatiable appetite for sushi and Asian foods.... :D [By the way, the bill for four people came out to just over $80. It was well-worth it...!]

I love sushi and I came here because I had never been to a sushi buffet before. What the hell was I thinking? First of all; Sushi is not a food of which should be created in large quantities. Yes I know they made the rolls on site as they run out but still....it was obvious that some corners were cut. The sushi rice tasted just like sushi rice from sushi you can get at the grocery store. I am embarrassed to say I even know what that tastes like. I was sitting at my table watching the people up at the buffet picking through the sushi, some people were smelling items, and what grossed me out the most was the ice cream station! Do you how many arms and fingers are in that thing a day? Hairy arms, dirty arms...... Can you imagine what types of things are lurking in there? And I am not a germa-phobe but damn I thought it was a little gross. Later on that night I felt kind of gross from the sushi as well, or maybe just because I was thinking about that ice cream station. The service was good though. Your typical buffet service. Bottomless soda/tea. I appreciate what they are trying to do here. This is kind of a good place to take someone for their first taste of sushi to kind of break them in.

After reading the reviews I thought I would check it out. "freshest sashimi in town"- Whatever! Most of the salmon rolls are just the belly fat trimmings, crunchy fat. There is only a small selection of not very creative rolls; Only salmon and krab used in the rolls. I cannot understand how this place has good reviews?! Almost every bite I took I wanted to spit out. Just another Asian buffet where they play sad music and serve food that is mediocre at best. I usually go to Shinju and it is very impressive for a buffet, good ambiance, food is great and a huge selection. I wanted to try kyojin because it is a shorter drive, big mistake. What a disappointment and I certainly wont be coming back...

Service was great. However the buffet was horrible. The selection wasnt much for the price. The food wasnt good either. I didnt try the sushi but it did look like they had a TON. WHO WANTS FREEZING COLD CRAB LEGS? WHO?

It's an outstanding value, and you can go japanese/sushi/chinese/mongolian and all of them are pretty high quality. Service is good too. No, it's not the greatest sushi ever, but it's fresh. It's really hard to criticize this place, so I won't try. I've been lucky enough to go when it isn't too crowded.

  • Walter E.

Pretty good for a sushi buffet. Love the fact that they have sushi and sashimi I didn't hit up the hibachi , I never seem too at these places for some reason. Try the tempura calamari...deeeeelish!

  • Vanessa P.

A co-worker mentioned this place to me because we both share a liking of sushi dishes. And ever since he mentioned their all you can eat sushi buffet, I was certainly interested. One thing's for sure: For a $10 lunch buffet this place is pretty darn solid. They have a good amount of different sushi rolls but only had salmon sashimi (on the day I went) which I'm guessing is because it was just a lunch buffet. I didn't get to try any of the other dishes - I mainly came here for the sushi. But, I would definitely come back here to see their dinner offerings and to really dig in. (Can't really go too crazy during lunch, a food-induced crash would be too likely to happen back at work)

I really like the good here. Best bang for you buck at any sushi restaurant. Dessert sucks, but everything else is good, the staff is nice. If you can't eat fish due to allergies, no worries, there's plenty of other typical Asian foods.

  • Lavi M.

JUST GO HERE, PEOPLE! It's flippin DELISH! Nice selection of sushi. The sushi's actually fresh and made by sushi chefs with the lil hats and everything! They have hibachi, and also, Chinese food. I've gone here for the lunch buffet during the work week and it's only $10.95. Just try it out! You won't be disappointed!

  • Richard K.

For lunch, you will get good value for what you pay at this restaurant. All you can eat includes food off the hibachi grill and sushi. SIGN ME UP! Service here is quick and fast. You order your drink, you get up for food and before you know it... BAM! your drink is sitting for you when you get back. They are ninjaesque. On to the food, the buffet is solid. I am not really for the buffet. I take advantage of the hibachi primarily and one or two sushi rolls. i enjoy the hibachi, the cook does his job well, but he is always giving you that look "you better tip me". I gladly oblige because I return at least twice there. The sushi is eh. I have experienced way better. The freshness is just middle of the road and some of their experiments are big misses. For lunch this place is a great deal.

Kyojin buffet is a sub-par Chinese buffet with some sushi on the side. Nearly every other Asian buffet that I have been to had a larger variety and higher quality food. I would not recommend this buffet. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived at 6pm for dinner. The décor was fine for a buffet. The bathroom was clean and appeared to be well maintained. The food was where the buffet fell short. There were 3 choices for meats in the hot portion of the buffet, sesame chicken, beef with assorted vegetables, and some bone dry pork. The pork was charred in the way that it was overcooked and burnt, not just charred for some smoky flavor. The beef with vegetables was cut too thick and way too tough. The sesame chicken was like that of a takeout restaurant with heavy and thick breading with an overpoweringly sweet sauce. The vegetables in the hot section were terribly overcooked and brown. The sushi was really where this place went wrong. At first glance it is beautiful, but at second glance you wonder how the raw fish is actually being kept cold while sitting on the counter. There are no vents or any evidence of cold air hitting the fish from an angle that would keep the sushi at a food safe temperature. Upon tasting the tuna sushi roll this was evident as the fish was at room temperature and not anywhere near cold. All of their rolls had cream cheese in them. Cream cheese is fine if only a few of the sushi have it, but in every roll? The deserts were cloyingly sweet and few in choices just like the hot food. They had green tea ice cream, but there were weird chunks of frozen bits inside of the ice cream, showing that the ice cream is either old or was not properly frozen at one point in time. The service at Kyojin buffet was your standard buffet service; just to refill water. One in our party did ask for a glass of hot water, but never received it. I talked to a manager over the phone about my complaints and he denied everything and was angry and rude from start to finish despite me keeping a cool and level tone. The cost of dinner buffet was 16.95 and after tax it was marked $18. Considering that most of the food was inedible and some dinner buffets that I have been to that has more variety and snow crab legs had a lower price, this was a terrible waste of money. For the record, I tipped a full 15% of my bill (yes I know its 20% at night, but this is a buffet). Overall, the buffet was terrible and cost wise it was also an unfortunate waste of money.

Honestly, I took a friend here and then my husband then came by myself. The food is good on average but overpriced. The manager or owner (Asian older man) kinda a jerk to be honest. I asked for some crackers for the crab and he looked really annoyed and unprofessional. I had to ask because the older Asian female waitress (bob hair length) wouldn't even check on me. I had to get up to ask for my drink, crackers, fork, etc. I finally got up to eat dessert and she rudely walked in front of me I bumped into her and said sorry and she looked annoyed and didn't apologize. She pretended not to hear me when I asked for help, so I finally told her she was rude and ignoring me and I'm having to get up. When I asked for a small fork for crab, they actually told me to use a chop stick! lol Then...She came back with my check! Lol I still left a tip because I'm classy, (but I won't be back. Terrible terrible attitude. And Ft. Lauderdale is FULL of polite people. I'll gladly give my business to a better establishment... At least check on your table for crying out loud...

I've been driving by this place for a while and it always looks packed. Decided to give it a go and went with the husband a few nights ago. Verdict: major hit-and-miss. Pluses: -- Tempura: nicely breaded and amazingly crunchy after sitting in under the warming lights. -- Basic sushi: the simple, cold sushi dishes were pretty good. Nothing steller, but solid basic sushi Minuses: -- The hot sushi rolls. Easily THE MOST disgusting sushi I have ever eaten. The rolls that are supposedly "tempura battered" are in actuality coated with a dense, slightly chewy and cardboardy breading not unlike stale Shake-n-Bake. Gross. A lot of the other hot rolls have similar breading or a serious off taste. -- The hot dishes from the buffet are bland and disappointing as well... nothing really stood out. Happy to have tried Kyojin, but we wont be going back.

Kyojin, while pricier than the typical oriental buffet, is worth the increased price and shows it in the quality of it's food. All you can eat sushi, buffet, dessert, hibachi (made to order), and more recently a chocolate fountain with some goodies to use with it. So if you want to stuff your face with tons of sushi or just anything of the sort I would definitely go here. The service is great and you almost never have an empty cup or more than a finished plate or two. While the sushi may not be the highest quality, it is all you can eat.

It's okay for the area, I don't like the fact that their rolls are a little heavy on the rice. The place is due for an update....

So anyone who goes to a buffet expecting the best, highest quality food ever is in for a world of disappointment. That being said, the food here is damned good! In addition to the food being good, the selection is huge and it is priced very reasonably. We went for lunch and I believe it was $9.95 per person. That was ridiculously cheap considering how good it was. There was a large sushi line, all of which was fresh and tasty, encompassing a wide variety of tastes. There was definitely something for everyone. Not only the hard core sushi fan, but also the timid diner will find stuff they like. At the end of the sushi line was a stir fry section where they make food to order. In addition, there is a hot line with Chinese and Japanese selections. Oh yeah, there was a dessert section too! Like any buffet, there are some items that are better than others, but Kyojin seems to have considerably more good than bad. I was there with a group of 8 people and everyone left very full and very happy! I was only in Fort Lauderdale for one day, but if I ever go back I will definitely make a return trip to Kyojin. If you live in the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood area and haven't been to Kyojin yet what are you waiting for?!?!

For the price, it can't be beat. There is no other place around where you can stuff yourself with sushi for these prices. I love the plantain roll, the tamago, and the tuna and salmon sashimi- I normally fill up on those because they're the best ones and some of the other rolls are just mediocre. Since it's a buffet, some rolls sit out far too long. The chinese food could use some work, I usually steer clear of that entire section. The salads and desserts are good, but the ice cream section grosses me out because of the small scoops that keep getting double dipped into different ice creams. It's awkward. But overall I really like going for my specific favorites and it always keeps me coming back for more.

Great sushi for a buffet. This is not a knock-em-dead sushi restaurant, but then again you are not paying $60 to $130 a plate. For the money it's a great value and all the sushi was fresh and of good quality. Very good value.

I have dinner at Kyojin every 2 weeks or so with a few friends. We all like going there. The sashimi and sushi are fresh and they have a good variety of rolls. I mainly stick with the sashimi and sushi, since the chinese food and other offerings are just average. However the stir fry, which I just recently tried, is also good. I had the guy mix up shrimp and some vegetables and it was quite tasty. Kyojin is an above average sushi buffet and you definitely have the opportunity to get your money's worth. I recommend this place for lunch or dinner if you are hungry for sushi.

I've eaten here quite a few times, even took some of my guests there... I've only had the sushi once, let's just say "never again", but the hibachi is good and the selection of other foods are pretty ok. i keep going caz it's close to home, and that garlic fish is worth going back for...

It is what it is ... a sushi buffet .. so to expect great sushi is silly. But a decent place to go for lunch if you just can't make up your mind as to what you want. However be warned ... after a second helping everything starts to taste the same.

This is such a great find. It's my favorite kind of place to go to. It looks super sketch but really the food is great. It's a buffet so don't expect service or anything else besides the best value in sushi an sashimi. It's really fresh and there is a large selection. The hot food is good and my husband likes the Hibachi station but I say get your money's worth in sushi.

I have been visiting this place for almost 2 years and was always a fan of the food, but hated the old smelly carpets. So when i visited this place after almost 4 months, i was pleasantly surprised with the much needed change of the floor and furnitures and must admit that i love the new decor, wooden floor and the waiting area. Must thank the owners to make the change because the carpet and bathrooms were really disgusting before!!! Well, but the best thing about Kyojin is the food and it never disappoints..... Chefs making sushi right in front of your eyes and its all you can eat!!! Even the chinese buffet is fresh and hot and ofcourse the Mongolian bbq station is excellent too!!!! On the weekends they have crab legs on the buffet and that's why maybe they charge a few dollars more, so if you are not into crab legs, then a week day would be better day to visit. The service is quick, sincere and attentive and they have a good selection of wine and beer over here. Overall a great place and if you love your sushi this is definitely a must place to visit.

Kyojin was suprisingly good for a sushi buffet, which isn't the greatest praise of all time, I'll admit. I went with the fam to the dinner buffet, which is more expensive than lunch, but I think there's a bigger selection of choices. Easily enough sushi to fill up on without trying all of them, a hibachi grill which makes food to order, some dessert, and an almost embarassingly small chinese selection. But whatever, if you wanted china buffet you'd have gone there. Also, it's got the standard jello and green tea iced cream that ends a buffet in the tastiest way possible. Also, my sister ordered a glass of wine that ended up being terrible. The waiter was nice enough to take it off the bill, so, yay buffet waiter!

There is the saying "WHAT THEY LACK IN QUALITY THEY MAKE UP IN VOLUME", also, "You get what you pay for".I went on a friday night after a movie. We were there at 9 and i think the place closed at 10.So not the best timing for fish that should be fresh etc etc. That said , a buffet has always lost money on me, not so my partner.I had , decent sushi, sashimi, tempura shrimp, veggies, Gen tso's chicken etc.Enough of the classics and decent enough quality that it passes as a good deal.N.B(I have eaten at NOBU, this is mass transit and that is a ROLLS).I would certainly go back , but not with my partner who eats 5.00 worth of food for 20.00(dinner 20, lunch10.00).I need to find a lunch date ! :)

Sorry Kyojin I really want to like you. But quality and freshness are lacking. The Chinese food is good. But sushi, not so much. Used to go for the crab legs on the weekends but on my last visit the fishy smell was unbearable.

This place was awesome! Sushi I had never had before. Everything was fresh and delicious.

I've gone here for lunch of several occasions and I am NOT a fan of their sushi.... I find the rice to be very sour... Some may like this, definitely not me! The selection of rolls is nice, but the quality isn't up to par in my opinion. There are many other sushi buffets that offer much better quality sushi.

of the many japanese/chinese food buffet places... this is one of the better ones. at dinner time they have a large variety of sushi choices, which are scaled back when coming for lunch. lunch is at about 15 dollars a person, with dinner being a bit more, but this is the average for all the buffet places around here. and there is fresh sashimi slices up on an ice block just waiting for you too. theres the variety of chinese food dishes as well: ginger scallion steamed fish, sesame chicken, chicken skewers, but the best one are the lettuce wraps, tasty fresh and light. the desserts are varied as well: from fresh fruit to cakes to ice cream. there is something for everyone here. the sushi lover. the chinese food lover. the grilled food lover. soups, and salads. great place for any type of sushi lover.

Definitely not the best sushi in Fort Lauderdale. The words best sushi and sushi buffet NEVER go in the same sentence, except for reviewing purposes :) I would go to this restaurant again if I was really drunk and some I really didn't know was having a birthday party there and I didn't check where the party was supposed to be held. On a real note: 1. The sushi is not fresh 2. The buffet line is ridiculous Enough said...

It's great for what it is - a sushi buffet. There is more seafood & selection at dinner, when it's more expensive. But it's a steal for quick sushi for lunch...$10 for all that and some hot food. My favorite hot food is the hibachi guy...who will cook up some stir-fried squid, beef, etc. for you with various vegetables of your choosing...or the steamed fish with spring onions in broth. It's much cheaper than most sushi buffets I've seen (including that big California chain Todai) and a bit better quality. There are some hybrid Latin rolls on the buffet that include sweet plantain too (I believe it's paired with unagi). I like it when they have the sushi bomb - a plastic shot glass filled to the top with layers of different roe. However, even though I didn't gorge myself on the last couple of times I went, I felt a bit sick afterward. It's not as good as when I first went to it a few years back. If you want quality over quantity nearby, try Wasabi Cafe on Commercial.

Not the best Japanese food but an excellent value for the money. Whenever I am in Fort Lauderdale and want lunch, Kyojin is one of my favorite places to go. The sushi is prepared in advance and could be a little fresher but there are so many varieties on the menu! I especially love Dragon Roll and Shrimp Tempura Roll. If I am not in the mood for sushi, I can always go to the grill to order a stir fry. The only thing I didn't really care for was the watered-down, bland Miso Soup.

To sushi snobs this place may not be good enough, but I absolutely enjoyed it. All types of sushi were available and were all nice to taste. Out of the two times I visited, there was never a time that I had to wait to get sushi, they kept the buffet stocked at all times. The other food is pretty decent also (they have a mini chinese buffet). The chocolate fondue and green tea ice cream are also a must to try! Go at lunch and it's like half the price of the dinner menu.

I love this place! Kyojin may not be the most upscale sushi restaurant in town, but you certainly do get your monies worth. You can't beat this place for their all you can eat sushi, sashimi, hibachi and Chinese. They are a little light on the Chinese, but that's not their focus. Prices are about $12 for lunch and $20 for dinner per person. Quality is extremely good for an all you can eat place. I go every week and have never been disappointed.

Great place for lunch. The hot table buffet is mostly simple Chinese with some tempura and great soups, and the sushi line ends with a hibachi stir fry grill at the end. They have a great dessert table and even carry red bean and green tea ice cream. Not sure why the whiners in some of the reviews were so unhappy here, but this has to be the best bang for the buck in South Florida.

UPSCALE? Crab Legs? Buffet? I am there! We walk in and it was sooooooooooo NOT upscale but hey that's ok because I wasn't dressed up anyway. Crab Legs.........cold and tasteless. YUCK! Buffet was not very good at all. The sushi was just slightly better but that definitely does not say much considering good sushi is pretty much non-existent in Fort Lauderdale it seems. This place was definitely not worth it.

This was horrible! The people were ok but the food was horrible. It was cold! I should have known better than to go to a sushi buffet. Bad idea! I'm came from California where they know how to do sushi and then was absolutely horrible. I love sushi but one bite of this and I spit it back out. The other food was cold too. I don't know if it was because it was busy in there but they really need to have people out checking the food's temperature.

Kyojin needs to step up their game!! Places like ichiyami in mizner park are so amazing that they really put Kyojin's rolls and quality to shame!

Just left this restaurant and I'm disgusted and horrified! As I'm less than halfway though my lunch and I notice a roach heading straight for my food. On the table going for my plate!! Got up and alerted the waitress and a gentleman from another table came over to kills it. They STILL made us PAY! They offered us 10% off. What kind of customer service is that? You find a simple hair on your plate and you get a free meal but not a roach? I'm shocked and repulsed by the Roach but I am hugely disappointed with the fact they did not tell us that did not have to pay for the little bit of food we ate. We did not stay or touch any more food, paid our bill and got up to leave. As we were leaving the hostess tells us sorry it's the weather and our food is so good even the roaches want to eat. WHAT????? Total nightmare never again!

If you're in the Fort Lauderdale area and love Japanese the Kyojin is the place to go. They have a variety of good delicious food, all you can eat. My favorite food would have to be the sushi, but I do like the fried squid.

Fantastic ! Either for lunch (about $12) or dinner (about $19) this is a great deal. Everything is very fresh and the choices are unlimited. If you like sushi you'll love this place. If you are not a raw fish person, there is a hibachi, where they will grill uo some steak, chicken, shrimp vegi combos.....deserts, ice cream....yum

The Sushi is good, when the restaurant is busy that is. The Sashimi is sub-par when compared to other sushi buffet restaurants such as Shinju Buffet. The chinese food counter is the run of the mill, buffet sorta kinda chinese food, nothing special there. The hibachi grilled food is mediocre. The hibachi chef has mood swings. Not worth the visit unless you're really hungry for Sushi and you're in the area.

Tasty, well prepared hot food with a wide selection of sushi and Japanese salads. I like the spicy tuna, bbq eel sushi, and the fried noodles. However, there is no tempura shrimp for lunch. Also, sometimes the sushi has got too much rice and too little fish on it. Still lunch is better value for money than dinner, which after a 15% to 20% tip (which is standard, IMHO), will run up to close to $20, for mostly the same dishes. Desserts are also very limited, with cheap little cakes and canned fruit. Nothing particularly Japanese or even Asian about the desserts, except for green tea ice cream. Bleh.
