Never liked hot-dog anything UNTIL I had a Hot-Dog Heaven, hot dog supreme! WOW and the fries are great too... tough to get in before 3 pm, and they close at 4 so hurry!

Hey it's hot dogs- how can you screw them up?!? Wait! Don't answer that! Well I happen to like this place- I liked they had short fat dogs and my babes liked that they had long skinny ones ( makes you wonder- lmfao) you can have them with anything you want on them! I went for cheese and onion- It was delish!!!! We also got a order of chili cheese fries- well the chili in my opinion sucked I can't even describe the taste it was just nasty like it was cooked to long and had a bitter burnt after taste- that's the only complaint I had besides the fact of the cups they give you your beverage in! They suck they are the ones that are plastic and paper just suck totally flimsy and if you leave it in your drink holder in the car with liquid in it- the bottom just disintegrates and leaves a mess for you!! :(

Had better. Nothing special here and poor service to boot. Been wanting to try for a long time, but wasn't worth the effort.

Perfect hot dog, great service, price is right.

I've never been to Chicago to try a "true Chicago dog", but if this is anything like the real-deal then I'm a believer. The dogs here are steamed instead of grilled or even fried and topped with tons of fresh vegetables and placed on a poppy-seed bun with mustard. Whoever said a hot dog isn't healthy hasn't been given the option of a dog from here...mom always said I never ate enough vegetables as a kid and mustard has far fewer calories than ketchup. I'm sold.

Hands down the best hot dog place in Fort Lauderdale. Many hot dog stands have come and gone in the past few years, but this one still remains strong. I was never a fan of Chicago style dogs and I'm still not at other places, but that is all I get here. The staff is also great! Friendly, attentive and courteous. To me that is almost as important as the food itself. It really shows they care.

This is one of our favorite places - period! Always consistent. The real Chicago deal!

Hot Dog Heaven has one of the most consistently good hot dogs, I've ever had. I've eaten here so many times, and it's always exactly the same, right down to the perfect fries. That's impressive for any place that serves food, even if it's just a hot dog. This place has been serving perfect Chicago hot dogs for like 30 years. They only use Vienna Beef hot dogs (both jumbo and regular size) I believe the regular size dogs have the natural casing on them, which makes them "snap" when you eat them. The jumbo are skinless, which I prefer. They are always perfectly steamed. The poppy seed buns are also steamed and nice and soft. They have all the traditional Chicago toppings (chopped onion, neon green relish, tomato slices, sliced pickle, mustard, celery salt, and sport peppers) I always think that the key flavor that makes a Chicago hot dog so special is that funky neon green relish mixing with the mustard and celery salt. It's a beautiful combination. You can get your hot dog made your way here and they have options if you don't want to go the Chicago dog route. They have good kraut dogs, and if you order cheese on one of your dogs, they will put it back in the steamer to melt the cheese for you. I always hate when you order cheese on a hot dog and you have unmelted shredded cheddar on top. You got to love the attention to detail. While steaming is traditional, you can also get your hot dog thrown on a grill to get it a little bit charred. Which brings me to maybe my favorite item on the menu - the charbroiled salami sandwich. Thick slices of salami thrown on a flame grill and then piled high. If you don't order one of these you are missing something. With grilled onions and cheddar cheese on a fresh hoagie roll, it may put you in the grave a few years early, but at least you'll have a smile on your face. With excellent Italian Beef and Polish Sausage, you can't go wrong here. After all Hot Dog Heaven is listed on the Vienna Beef Website Hall of Fame and if you can't trust the Vienna Beef people, who can you? The only draw back is that they are only open for lunch, so if it's after 4:30 and you got a taste for a Hot Dog Heaven Dog, you are SOL.

Now this is a hot dog place! Carney's in West Hollywood...take a lesson. Here they use Vienna. Very good flavor and the chili is really really good. Yum! Yum! The folks that work there are friendly and efficient. I make it a point to go there several times when I'm in the area. Reviewers...you be the judge!

For some reason, places outside of Chicago that serve 'Chicago dogs' always seem lacking something..whether it's the wrong kind of relish, bun, whatever. Hot Dog Heaven is the real deal!!! Once you take your first bite, you know! The place is small with a some bar stool seating inside and 2 tables outside. This is one of those times when size does not matter...small inside or limited seating outside, Hot Dog Heaven still has the best hot dog outside of Chicago! Another personal favorite of mine is their Tamale which is served steamed..yum. And, if you want to feel like you're back home (in Chicago) order their grilled salami! It just does not get better than this!! Hot Dog Heaven is the epitome of the hot dog stands I grew up with when I still lived in Chicago (West Rogers Park girl here!).And when you miss the foods you grew up with, living so far away, it's nice to know you can satisfy your 'yen' with just a short car ride to Hot Dog Heaven!!!

nice place to visit for a good ole hot dog!!!

  • Alejandra M.

I went here on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. My husband being a Chicago native ordered there combo and I ordered a tamale, a Chicago style hot dog and their cheese fries. I did not like the fries, the hot dog was your typical Chicago dog, nothing special about it. My husband said he had better combos somewhere else and the place did have a nice selections of dogs to choose from, but it was just so uncomfortable to get in, eat inside with people making the line to get their order. I did not like the fact that they only accept cash here. They do have an ATM inside for your money retiring pleasure and it does charge you a $2 fee. Overall, I have been to better Chicago-style places. Would I come here again? Hmmm, If I am in the area yes. But to take a drive there because I am craving a dog. No!

  • Immer R.

Sam A's review sums this place up nicely. Here's my take: As a recent transplant from the Windy city, I found this place quite acceptable. The Polish were tasty and juicy with all the right toppings and the fries were crisped to near perfection. This place is the real Chicago deal. If you live in the area and want to experience what a real hot dog is supposed to taste like, this is the place to go. Make sure you order a Chicago dog and don't dare ask for ketchup. My wife and I are definitely going back. Next time I will be trying the Italian Beef.

  • Aaron V.

The best hot dogs, regardless if you get it Chicago style or any other way! It's a tiny place - things can get tight when they get busy at lunch - but that only goes to show how good the dogs are!

    (5)
  • Justo M.

I don't understand negative reviews about hot dog joints. They're hot dog joints! It's not fine dining people! Geez. Seriously, I like Hot Dog Heaven. It's just fine if you are looking for something different from your typical south Florida fare. It's not the best Chicago dogs, (according to my friends from Chicago) but it's good enough for us south Floridians, and that's plenty good enough for me. Here's the kicker, it's only open until 4:30 PM. Those are banker's hours, no I take that back, bankers now work more hours, and this place has been in business for 30 years, so they must be doing something right!

    (4)
  • Jordan N.

I didn't like this hot dog place... I thought the sausage was tasteless and kinda soggy (it's boiled here), the buns tasted as if it came out of a cheap grocery store, and the toppings were okay although it looked like it went through a radioactive nuclear plant. I've had good Chicago dogs before, and this isn't as good as Dogma Grill or some other hot dog places in South Florida.

    (1)
  • Mandy H.

Best Hot Dog you can find in South FL They have so good business that they don't open on Sunday Saturday they open half day. Chicago style hot dog and I think they close for 3 weeks during summer time. They serve great hot dog and they are not expensive

    (5)
  • Jeffrey D.

AMAZING HOTDOGS! I don't think you can find a better place for dogs in all of south Florida! They use fresh (and sometimes homemade) ingredients--like their relish! I hate relish but theirs is out of this world. The only thing that sucks about this place is their limited hours!

    (5)
  • Dan F.

The best hot dog in Broward County, and possibly anywhere South of the Border. Real Vienna sausage, steamed ohh so right, on a poppy seed bun, served Chicago style, if that's your thing (it should be...you don't want to pass this up). Bring cash (no credit cards accepted), and come early...they close after lunch. Not a fancy place, but a clean restaurant with courteous staff and excellent food.

  • sam a.

The closest to authentic Chicago style dogs I can find. Ok, they got the basic formula for the Chicago syle dog down (steamed poppy bun, boiled vienna beef, chopped onion, tomato quarters, mustard, peppers, neon green relish). But where the place shows that its not authentic is when they tried to do Maxwell Street Polishes. The sausage was good, grilled/charred with score marks...but the onions were just pathetic. They're supposed to be long caramelized onions, not these soggy things that look to be drenched in vinegary syrup. I'd say the decor is just perfect, they're going for the dive look. They have some of the attitude of a good Red Hots place, in fact they just shut down for a few weeks in the summer for vacation. Prices are a bit much for hot dogs, fries, and soda...but all in all, way affordable for S. Florida. All in all, *IF* this palce was in Chicago, it would get 2 or maybe 3 stars, but since there are no direct competitors (Fort Lauderdale has at least 3 seperate dog stands that are shuttered that I've seen) I gave Hot Dog Heaven 4 stars. What carries it through is just the location and decor....minimalist. BTW, if the owners are reading and care...get rid of the ATM machine act and start accepting Visa at least. Not accepting credit cards is not unique or cause for saying your place has "character". in 2008 its just annoying, especially in your neighborhood which is a bit sketchy...who wants to carry cash from your parking lot! And no b.s about not being able to afford the fees, you charge over $6 for a hotdog, fries and a soda and own the real estate. The dive BBQ down the street even takes credit cards.

One word.... Delicious!!!!! The hot dogs are 100% beef. The bread is super soft and yummy. Love this place!!!! Simple and delicious.

I am a new transplant to South Florida from Chicago and had yet to find a great hot dog until now! This place is everything I LOVE about Chicago Style Hog Dogs, Vienna Beef dogs with poppy salt buns, sport peppers, relish, celery seeds, tomato, a pickle and NO ketchup! Some places in Chicago will not serve you if you ask them for ketchup on your dog so it's comforting to know they don't desecrate that beautiful culinary vessel with ketchup. It is great to know that I don't have to wait the six months in between hot dogs again... Will definitely be back!!

Best Chicago dog ever. Yep, at the risk of being accused of hyperbole, I rate Hot Dog Heaven's Chicago dog as the best I have ever stuffed in my face. Don't want to parrot other reviews too much, but for starters, if just feels good to drive up to an establishment that not only looks retro, but actually is retro. The look and feel is a blast from the past when a family would pile into the SUV (or station wagon even further back in time), go for a drive, stop at a small roadside stand and fill their bellies with good food that was reasonably priced. I find walking into Hot Dog Heaven just feels right. I stopped by this afternoon and the place was hopping. Inside seats almost filled to capacity and all three tables outside had folks enjoying a meal. Now, the seating is very limited, but because of the nature of the meal, there is a good churn, so if there is no place to sit, hang around a couple of minutes and a seat will become available. Now, Chicago dogs are just plain delish by their nature. But these are so, so fresh. Everything about the Chicago dogs at Hot Dog Heaven is exactly as you would want. Even the tomatoes are perfect and cut so that there is none of that hard white part, just red tomato. Yep, perfect. If you want a gut-buster, get the chili-cheese fries or a chili dog. Not a fan of the Italian beef sandwich, but that is just a function of personal taste. For those of you who live near Hot Dog Heaven, how lucky. For those of you who live in western Broward County, or in Palm Beach or Miami-Dade Counties, the drive to Hot Dog Heaven is well worth the reward. Enjoy!

  • Damon D.

I think Hot Dog Heaven may be the only game in town for Chicago-style hot dogs, and made with Vienna beef dogs at that. They have other things like hamburgers and Italian beef sandwiches, but really you should be going her for the hot dogs. To be honest, the Italian beef I had was under-seasoned. I haven't yet tried the fries, which look great. The staff here are very friendly and very efficient.

    (4)
  • Rick P.

I have been to Hot Dog Heaven quite a few times and this is definitely one of the little hidden gems in Fort Lauderdale. For starters, the hot dogs are some of the best. They are Chicago style dogs and they even import their poppy seed buns from The Windy City. Each Hot Dog is served with a warm, steamed fresh bun and it just makes all the difference in the world. So...here is the biggest secret of this place. They have one of the best Pastrami sandwiches ever. Be sure to try it. If you love Pastrami, this will not be a disappointment. Other items on the menu include burgers, chicken sandwiches, French fries and chili fries. One thing to keep in mind is that they do take a month off over the summer to go on vacation in which the restaurant is closed. This is definitely not one to be missed if you are in the mood for great dogs and a friendly staff.

  • Robert R.

We love, love this place! Once in awhile we get in the mood for a hotdog and other than at a ballpark in the Midwest, this is as good as it gets! It's a hole in the establishment and the owner and his staff are friendly and fast!!!! The price is right, too!

    (5)
  • Charmie P.

Delicious Vienna beef Chicago style dogs with all the fixings, sesame seed buns, bright green relish, peppers, pickles, tomatoes. You can custom your order as you wish as there are other items on the menu such as chili, fries, cheese fries, kraut, Polish sausage, pastrami and tamales. Service is friendly, but what's remarkable is that the food consistency, always fresh and tasty.

  • Dennis M.

Love this place! Great Vienna Chicago Dogs. Fries are a bit greasy but if you're going for their dogs, you're in good shape. Need to try out their sausages and burgers one day!

    (5)
  • Ken L.

I had heard about this place doing a Chicago hot dog stand. It was nice to get a Chicago dog, but it had way too much celery salt. The chili was not fresh. The Italian beef just did not take me back to Chicago. A little disappointed! Oh well.

    (2)
  • Bill L.

Oh man these guys make good dogs! Dropped in today because I was in the area and checking out nearby eateries in the area. Always enjoy a good dog and this place makes em great! Parking lot is a little small but I managed to grab a spot. Walked in the front door and was greeted right away. Perused the menu and decided to go with a regular dog and a slaw dog. Buns are fresh and soft and the dogs are Vienna. Added fries and a drink and out the door for $11 bucks....not bad. I'll have to walk my own "dog" twice tonight to walk it off, lol. They have sausages too? Give em a try

  • Nate S.

I've driven past this little slice of Americana for years. Never thought to actually stop and try it. It's not bad. It's a little old hot dog stand, right out of the 50's.....sort of. We had the Super Dogs, which is their version of a Chicago dog. They come on a poppy seed roll, with pickles, and tomato slices. For a dog, it's decent. the flavor id there and the dog is of good quality. It's a little pricey. The dog by it self is $5, had a small (med?) soda and a little side of fries and you are up to $8. Taste it's a 4 star, but I drop it to 3 because of perceived value

    (3)
  • Frank D.

Tasty, tons to chose from not just the dogs and I'm pretty sure they'll make whatever you want.

    (4)
  • Heinrich V.

Taste of Chicago in Ft. Lauderdale! I suggest you get some buns to go to if you live far out. If you know "up-north" hot dogs hit this place and have a reminder of what glory tastes like.

  • Isabel L.

Had a hard time looking for a parking space. Long line inside. My order was taken by a lanky, older man who wears eyeglasses. He was rude, he sounds like taking your order is such a position of authority. I ordered the chicago dog and small fries to go and ketchup on the side. I'm from out of town and I've been to hotdog heaven several times before. Food was always good but this time this man's attitude even influenced the taste of the food. So i rate it a one star. Will never visit this place again!

I used to work at a furniture store on Sunrise Boulevard in the early 90's, a few blocks away from this Fort Lauderdale landmark sausage stand, and for about 3 years, made it a point to have lunch there just about weekly -- sometimes twice a week. Their Chicago-style dog might be one of the best interpretations of the art form I've ever had the pleasure of consuming. There's counter-space inside to stand and eat, and a couple of tables outside under awnings to shade you from the sun, but both are pretty cramped quarters. Most of my lunches here were (and still are) eaten in the car as I headed back to work. You will love it.

    (5)
  • Frank B.

Never disappoints!!! Great variety of hot dogs from Classic Chicago Style....Polish Sausage....super Dogs.....hot pastrami.....and high quality service and food!!!!!

  • Ivette R.

Now I was able to try this place because one of my friends on yelp told me it's the best hot dogs in the world.Well it was.I was working in Sunrise today so after my long meeting at work me and my friend went to Hot Dog Heaven nearby the staff here is absolutely amazing they're professionals at making Hot Dogs.I ordered a Hot Dog with a CHICAGO Bun with Chili,Relish and Mustard and my friend had a regular Hot Dog with Mustard my Hot Dog was so good that I can just Chow Down another 57 or more.My friend thought her Hot Dog was fantastic too.So far I really loved this place way better than Sweet Dogs. PS There's nothing like having Chili Cheese Fries and Hot Dogs on a nice cool day

  • Andrew N.

Awesome Chicago red-hots place. It gets five stars because I miss home so take my review with a grain of salt. Food: I've only eaten the hot dogs but they're great. They bring in S. Rosen buns and run them through the garden. If you want a Chicago dog in S. Florida, this is probably your best bet. Service: Overall pretty good. I've been in there twice and both times the manager seemed to criticize the workers a little too much, but nothing too serious. They get the food out quick. Mission conclusion: A great place to a get in and out. Could benefit from a few extra parking spots. Five stars in my book!

  • Andy C.

Cmon it is what it is. Chicago dogs supreme! Not too much place to sit inside, but it is worth the pilgrimage to grab a great dog.

    (5)
  • Bazil B.

I have eaten here about 3 times. So far it's pretty good food. We just came home with hotdogs and fries. As I was eating my fries, some of them tasted a little raw. suppose that can happen. But otherwise for a quick meal it's not bad at all.

Best hotdog in Ft Lauderdale! When my bestfriend comes in town this is always our first stop on the way to the beach.

Love love love this place! It is always a delicious experience. If you are looking for an amazing all beef hotdog then go here. Their ingredients are always fresh and the hotdog buns are to die for!

Nom nom nom. Hot dog heaven the name say it all. My wife and I have been trying to go this place since we moved to Fort Lauderdale which is two years ago. Unfortunately they are only open till 4:30 which is pretty hard for us to make it before that time. Anyways about a week ago we made it and trust me the wait was well worth it. Their menu is pretty basic but delicious is based on regular hot dogs and you can create multiple combinations. They also have four specialties Chicago style, polish sauce and two other that I don't remember right now. I also tried their chilly fries they were really good I just wish they put more chilly lol. They also have home made brownies but we were stuffed and didn't make it to dessert. For 20 dollar we had three hot dogs chilly fries and a soda. You cant beat that. Definitely looking forward to check this place again.

There are times when nothing is better than a Chicago dog and whether it's Portillos in Chi-town or Hot Dog Heaven in Ft Lauderdale, it doesn't matter- always good with fresh onions, tomatoes,etc...this place is cheap and quick for take-out; however only 8 stools for back counter inside crowded eating or 3 communal outdoor tables that might seat 20-25 total. You need to creative to park here, room for 8 cars including double parking, there are a few lots sorta close you might sneak in and out of..... I am mesmerized every time I work down this way and get drawn in every few months not just for typical Chicago dogs but for Mrs. Heavenly's fabulous homemade brownies for $1.39. They don't always have them as they sell out, but these are 5 star desserts anytime. I don't think I've had a better juicer brownie in my life. I'll be back for the brownies and probably a chili-dog too.

  • Marina M.

I've been coming to Hot Dog Heaven for so long. Though I haven't been eating meat for a few months (just a personal choice as it often makes me sick), I would break down for a hot dog from here and ONLY here. Everything is made with all high quality Vienna beef products. There are many options to choose from and sides as well. My favorite was always the spicy dog with Gulden's mustard and a side of fries! This place is one of South Florida's true gems.

  • Luis P.

This place was great!!!! The prices are very reasonable and the food is just awesome. I had the Chicago Hot Dog and it was delicious.

    (5)
  • John M.

The BEST!!! obviously get a chicago dog and I recomend the chili slaw dog as well. Staff is super nice, dont be put off by the fast pace of the place, it's for your benefit. The owner prides himself in his product and does not allow anything but the best in his shop. Go here now if youve never been!!

    (5)
  • Ed R.

Nothing is going to beat this place for quality, taste, price and friendliness. I wrote about them some time ago; and it is time to again say this place is the best. Don't believe me? Try it just once. I promise you will not be disappointed. I have the traditional hot dog with mustard, chili & onions. Hmmm. Delicious. It is so good I am reluctant to try the Chicago dog. One of these days I will.

    (5)
  • Frank M.

Rude customer service. So unacceptable I lost my appetite and left. If you're a snarky arse, I won't be back to your establishment and hope no else will either. Go out of business and see how far that attitude gets you.

    (1)
  • Merle U.

Had regular size chili dog with mustard and onions and small order of fries. Great dog served by friendly and efficient staff. Small, comfortable and cozy hut with counters facing Sunrise and out-of-doors searing, Parking is the only downer.

    (4)
  • Tim K.

To the guy with the ketchup rant: They're right. You're wrong. Unless you are a child, ketchup has no place on a hot dog.

    (4)
  • Sherry G.

Hot dog heaven is the closest taste of Chicago we can get anywhere in Florida. Quick bites, fresh food, great variety, friendly service. Always a great place to eat at and only wish that they had more local locations...even tho worth the drive!

    (5)
  • E R.

Disappointing. First of all they don't serve a natural casing dog. The have the cheaper quality skinless. Used to be great, not so much anymore.

Good food but they don't ever seem to be open :(

The absolute genuine Chicago dog. I also like their Polish sausage with a Tamale. And I am from Chicago.

  • Brandi D.

Service was AWESOME. I had my 10 year old with me and the gentleman thought she forgot her drink so he came running out in the parking lot to find us. Also when I ordered they were really patient. Service I give 5 stars. The food. I got a regular hot dog with chili and cheese combo with chili cheese fries and a drink. My daughter got a Super dog with Mustard, Onion, Kraut combo with chili cheese friends and a drink. Total of the bill came to $19.00. Yes you got that right. $19.00 for 2 hot dog combos. Was a little bit of a shocker but I wouldnt have cared except.... Fries. NASTY! They probably cooked them and let them sit there for quite some time. It was like the chili and cheese was hot but the fries cold and gross. They were squishy soggy..nothing good about them. The hot dogs are OK. The best part was the fresh bun.

  • Natalie C.

I love hot dogs. I tried this place to see what the hype was about. I was not disappointed. I had a Chicago dog. It was the first one I ever had. It was really good. It was like nothing I ever tasted before. The celery salt is pretty good in it. The only thing that was a problem was the parking. It can be a bit tricky. I will definately be back.

    (4)
  • Steven B.

Been going here forever....love their Chicago Dog. Tried it other places, but no one makes it like they do. And they are consistent, dependable, friendly, efficient! Cannot say enough about the little Hot Dog stand that can!

    (5)
  • Erica G.

Ordered the beef hotdog and honestly I thought this place would have wowed me from the hype I hear but I might as well had went to Sam's Club and ordered a hot dog combo for $1.60 rather than one little hotdog for $3 and change. I was not happy with the portion. For that price, Nathans wojld5 have been better.

It's not hard to find a plethora of different ethnic/reigional foods in S.Florida. There are plenty of Spanish as well as Yankees to provide a good mix. That being said, Hot Dog Heaven serves up some great Chicago-style street food including the famous Chicago dog. In a stand alone building, Hot Dog Heaven's parking is the only downfall. With about 4-6 spaces available, lunch can get nuts. The food is straight-up fast street dogs and sandwiches. The line preparers are always quick and friendly. Great Chicago dogs, Chili dogs, hot sandwiches, this lunch spot is hard to beat. With great prices, theres no excuse not to go!

  • John C.

I lived in Chi-town for a year and got hooked on chicago hot dogs.I was shocked to realize that I'd driven right by this place on Sunrise many times and never noticed it there. Love the charred salami - amazing. Everything is as it should be. Major win!

  • Oreo _.

I've been to this place dozens of times over the years and without a doubt there isn't a single place in South Florida that makes a comparable hot dog. The roll is awesome and ALWAYS fresh and delicious. The service is very good as well. If you like hot dogs then you must try this place.

    (5)
  • Andy N.

Meh ... it's a Chicago dog place for all people that moved to Florida. Not bad and will fit the bill if you're homesick. I tried both the burger and the dog with an order of fries.

    (3)
  • John K.

This is a legit Chicago dog. Vienna beef hotdog, sport peppers, celery salt, green relish, tomatoes, yellow mustard, pickle, You find some places that put a spear in the bun, this place slices the pickle more like a coldcut. Cole slaw was a little bit on the mushy side, but the t-shirt has an anthropomorphic hot dog with wings on it. Angel hot dog! gotta love it!

I am not a huge hot dog fan. These hot dogs are by far the best hot dogs I've had in my life. My favorite to order is a chilli cheese dog with a fruit punch. Would highly reccomend them to everyone.

It's not easy to find a great hot dog. We had been searching for a long time to find something close to the Chicago dogs we used to get in CO. Hot Dog Heaven is close. The hot dog was beefy and juicy and flavorful. The veggies were fresh, but not as plentiful as we had had in the past. I tried the chili dog and was somewhat disappointed with the chili, which could have come from a can. Of course, I'm really picky about chili, with just the right balance of sweetness and spiciness. We'll go back and maybe I'll try something i haven't had before.

As a 42 year old born & raised South Florida local....who has great memories of going here w/ my dad from waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 1980....this is truly the best Hot Dog place in South Florida...and I LOVE hot dogs. I remember when the owner's wife or mom made brownies there. As a child....it was chili chz dogs every time. But as I matured, my palate blossomed & I watched in awe how they compiled (dragged through the garden) this gorgeous vegetable covered hot dog...my temptation & the accolades of the dog overwhelmed me & I finally gave in. WOW!! FANTASTIC!! What had I been missing & why did I waste all that time being dedicated to just a chili chz dog?!? Oh the missing years that I'll never get back ;-( Seriously though....I do vacillate between the nostalgic chili chz dog (after mowing lawn on saturdays) w/ my dad & their kick ass Vienna Chi Town Dawg!! Annnnnnnnnnnnd.............for those whining about "why wont the nice man behind the counter pour my ketchup for me?"..................ketchup bottles are right on the counter next to the kids menu

The specialty of Hot Dog Heaven is their Chicago Style Hot Dog which is made with a Vienna Beef Hot Dog (boiled), 4 tomato wedges, one dill pickle spear, 2 sport pepper, poppy seeded bun, sweet green "neon" Vienna relish, chopping Texas Silver type of onion, yellow mustard (they only use yellow), and a dash of celery salt. Some of the area places fail to use the Vienna neon relish or forget the celery salt.....the lack of either of which is a big, bad no no. I've been to Chicago (Chi-Town) many times, tried all sorts of Chicago Style Hot Dogs, and yes, Hot Dog Heaven serves the real thing; same as they serve in Chicago. So, if you are a Chicago Style Dog fan, this is the place to indulge yourself. They also have fries and other offerings like grilled a salami sandwich, but those things not withstanding, it is the Chicago Style Dog that remains the specialty of the place.

Its quite a drive for me (20-25 one way in I-95 traffic) but I forget about gas and mileage and driving and everything once I'm biting in one of those delicious Chicago-style hot dogs. Since I was introduced to them by my business partner, who hails form the windy city, I have sworn allegiance to this dogs. Seriously, no Perros, no Nathan, maybe a Hebrew national here and there only because of memories of Yankee Stadium, but for me just Vienna sauce, Chicago style. Oh, and to finish all, do not forget the brownies. They are beyond delicious.

Stopped by here to figure out what a Chicago dog is. Knowing several people from Chicago they always say they got the best hot dogs, bla bla bla. While I am not sure how authentic the hot dog is, it was yummy. Friendly service, inexpensive, and good food, can't go wrong here. My girlfriend got the polish sausage ...AMAZING!

Hot Dog Heaven is the only place in South Florida that can compare to the hot dog restaurants in Chicago. Their hot dogs, Polish sausage, and Italian beef sandwiches are as good as Portillo's. All you Chicagoans and former Chicagoans will know that this is a great compliment to Hot Dog Heaven.

For a Chicago Style Vienna Hot Dog and piping hot French French Fries, Hot Dog Heaven is the Sunrise Blvd / I-95 / US-1 lunch stop. Their Grilled Salami Sandwich with peppers was also a unique experience. Every time we pass Hot Dog Heaven heading East on Sunrise Blvd, the W says that place has great hot dogs. Unfortunately, it's usually a Saturday evening and we are on our way to dinner and it's closed. I was at a nearby car dealer getting my car serviced and saw Hot Dog Heaven was open for lunch and very crowded. I did a quick drive through their parking lot and couldn't find a spot and noticed that some people were illegally parking at the nearly empty City of Fort Lauderdale Parking lot next door and walking over. So in the spirit of "Wisdom of the Crowds", I parked my car in the City Lot and quickly walked into Hot Dog Heaven and ordered a Super Dog and Salami Sandwich To Go. I thought about the French Fries which looked great, but decided to pass on them (probably a first for me). Their Super Dog was just as advertised, a very delicious high quality boiled Vienna Dog on a very soft bun. I ordered it without the onions and tomato anticipating that I could be eating it in my car. I usually not a big hot dog fan, but this Vienna Dog was very good. I was planning on leaving the Salami Sandwich for later, but after the Hot Dog, I had to sample the Salami Sandwich. It was also very good. I've never had a Grilled Salami Sandwich before and it would definitely be worth repeating - maybe this time without the peppers (too hot for me/ but probably perfect for most people). Hot Dog Heaven gets very crowded at lunch time by the locals and the Snow Birds. You might try going at off hours to ensure you can find a parking spot.

I wish I could give more stars. This place rocks! The BEST Chicago hotdogs in Florida. Don't even bother looking elsewhere. The Chili-Dog is insane, and their homemade brownies are a must have. Only negative is they close early

I'm from Chicago. As such there are several things that I know: 1) I know what if feels like to have a winning NBA team (Michael Jordan, greatest ever!), 2) I know what it feels like to have a favorite losing MLB team (next year Cubs), 3) I know what it's like to shovel 2 feet of snow (don't really miss that) and, 4) I know a good Chicago-style restaurant when I eat in one. Hot dog heaven is somewhere in between. There are certain foods that everybody uses to gauge a common food dish, for example, when my wife and I go to a new pizza restaurant we order a pepperoni and cheese pizza with garlic rolls as a staple measure of their pizza-goodness. Under cooked pizza, little to no sauce, sucky toppings = a disaster; frozen rolls = lack of attention to the simple things. My gauge for a Chicago-style eatery: a beef combo. For those of you not familar with the terminology, a beef combo is a sandwich served on a hoagie roll and it is filled with spiced Italian roast beef (sometimes shredded) on top of a grilled Italian sausage. I use this to understand several things about the restaurant. First, the roast beef should have some flavor to it, granted it should be cooked in its own juice, but I have noticed that several places simply boil the beef in water and thus cutting down in the flavor aspect of the beef. Unfortunately, Hot dog Heaven doesn't offer too much in the flavor category with regards to their beef. The sausage, i found, was a bit lacking as well. I didn't get the snap of a grilled Italian sausage that I was looking for, instead I just bit down into the sandwich with no instant feedback - sadly. I did get the feeling of eating in a Chicago style hot dog joint since pretty much everybody was standing and there was a small outdoor area to eat in. Quite naturally I was a little disappointed but, Hot dog heaven does offer Chicago style hotdogs and Polish sausages. There's nothing like eating at the old Maxwell street and hot dog heaven definitely tries but comes up short. Try Fat Lou's in Hallandale instead.

Even though this place only has yellow mustard(yuck!) and radiation green relish(double yuck!), I'm still going to give this place the thumbs up. It's in a cute little comfy of a spot where you can sit at the counter or enjoy the nice weather outside, and the dogs were solid. I'm all about the brown spicy mustard, or at least dijon. So when I saw that they had neither I was pretty disappointed. But I put my trust in their hands since I knew these guys were old school and know what they're doing. That trust was put to the test when I saw the Kawasaki green relish spooned over my dog. I'm glad I followed my instincts. Their dogs rival Dogma's, or anyone elses in town!

This place was actually recommended to me by the guy who owns Skyline Chili in Plantation Florida. So far it's one of the top places for hot dogs in South Florida.

Yep, these hotdog's are the real Chi-Town deal! Sesame seed buns, bright green relish, peppers, pickle oh yes! These boy's were delish! Hub's had been here before and knew I would love it. I ordered a Beef, hoping, wishing, praying it would fill my void. Nope it did not. For some reason know one can seem to get it right down here. The Beef had no flavor to it, cut to thick, and was very forgettable. No matter, save yourself and just order the dog's and oh my gosh the tamales. The tamales were exactly like I am use to. Perfect!! Service was OK, it seems they do not need to be to excited they have a great business no matter what. The hours are a killer. They close at 4:30, what a bummer! Seriously, make the trip during the day if you can, it will be worth it. The dog's are pure heaven and the tamales are spicy awesome! Just wish they were open at night.

" The best hot dog in the whole country ". By a stranger in FL.... I like Chicago Hot dog, and Harry's around highland park is also one of my favorite place when I am in Dallas. .. It is really hard to explain about this especially English is my second language. is there any special ingredients in their hot dog? be honest, in the past I would tell you "Hot dog is hot dog... nothing can make hot dog special".... Their hot dog is different... However, THIS PLACE " HOT DOG HEAVEN " is on the top of my list now. the owner is super funny !! I told him I am from Dallas ,and I go Chicago all the time....His face likes ~ so what YOU young lady TRY BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING~ , In one visit ....I ate 2.5 the hot dogs until my stomach couldn't handle more food . the place just like Fuel city taco in Dallas, good food, always busy , the only different is fuel city taco open 24 hours. Hot dog heaven opens ONLY for lunch ( ....first visit they close around 3:45... I was super upset about that because I got there 3:50........). FL is : beach / Sunshine / Orange + hot dog heaven for me now

I may not know much about authentic Chicago-style hot dogs, but my taste-buds agree: these dogs are delicious. The ingredients are fresh. Just one bite and I was a fan. It's a great spot to grab a quick bite before hitting the beach. No frills, just good food and friendly service. (I was the lucky recipient of the ketchup bottle prank) My only wish is that they were closer, but definitely stop by if you're in the area. They don't accept debit/credit cards, but there is an inside ATM machine if you forget to bring cash.

I am born and raised Chicago. This is an authentic chicago dog, as good as portillos, gold coast, or whatever your Chicago dog of choice is. I no longer stop and get a hot dog on my way home from the airport in Chicago- this replaces it. If you want a Chicago dog in Fort Lauderdale- go here. Authentic Vienna beef- everything comes in from Chicago. Not as good italian beef, but not a better hot dog on the planet.

I was born and raised in Chicago, this place is legit! Love the hotdogs. You can't go wrong. I have never tried the polish sausage but their cheeseburgers are pretty good too. You also gotta have a tamali after you eat the hot dog and fries. True the parking is limited and the lines are long. But that's part of the fun! And cash only.

A winner of a wiener you can enjoy naked or garnished...your way isn't happening here. Too often too many tell a tale of a hot dog that's too good to be true. The hot dog experience didn't leave my tail wagging or barking at the moon. If you order your dog with ketchup here, expect to get it their way, not yours. They have a sign on the wall that basically says there's no place on a hot dog for ketchup. My hot dog came with everything else I asked for on it, other than ketchup. This would be like Burger King saying sorry we don't think pickle is proper on a burger and because of our belief, we can't accommodate your desire to have a pickle on your burger, even though we have plenty of pickles handy. Not to beat a dead horse or in this case a dog, but I don't subscribe to the notion that ketchup doesn't belong on a hot dog and they apparently don't subscribe to "the customers always right". Ordering ketchup on your dog seems to be their equivalent of a code red here, to which I would have to bark "you can't handle my order Mr"! The fries were a two on a scale of one to five, with five being the best, and could use improving. The relish was colored green as if dyed for a Saint Patrick's day event. I say spare me the green coloring and give me healthier relish. I don't eat hot dogs often and if I'm going to eat something that's not particularly good for me, I want it to be pleasing to the eye, senses and pallet. In all fairness, the hot dog itself wasn't bad, it just would have been better with ketchup, and since I can't get ketchup on my hot dog here, I won't get my hot dog here. If you like ketchup on your hot dog, don't steer clear of here. I think every person in South Florida that likes ketchup on their hot dog should go here and order at least one hot dog with ketchup. Eventually these folks will come to know that a hot dog is only as good as the ketchup you have on it. On a separate note, the parking and seating are limited and can be a challenge. I saw this place on HollyEats.com and decided to check it out. I was not disappointed. Never had a Vienna hotdog. I got the Chicago one and my mom got one with sauerkraut. It was good. I should have gotten more than one or tried other toppings. My mom initially wasn't in the mood for hotdogs but she liked it. The staff was very friendly. My mom asked if they have coffee but they didn't. So she asked for hot water and they gave her cup as she brought a tea package with her. Also one of the staff went outside to help another couple that was there take a pic with the Hotdog heaven sign on the side of the driveway. Will check this place out again when I'm down in the Fort Lauderdale area. The only negative I can say is they close early as the signed says 4:30 p.m.
